02:27 AM Deejay: moin
05:02 AM Tom_L: morning
05:05 AM XXCoder: yo
05:20 AM jthornton: morning
05:21 AM XXCoder: yo
05:25 AM XXCoder: pvc bending. 7 minutes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=p1SMOPaajgY
05:27 AM XXCoder: guy needs a funnel
05:29 AM p0g0: is that sand and heat?
05:29 AM XXCoder: yeah.
05:29 AM p0g0: I haven't looked at the video
05:29 AM XXCoder: simple enough eh
05:30 AM p0g0: yeah, old trick- you can do that with iron pipe too, if you pack it with sand and seal the ends.
05:30 AM XXCoder: it looks fun
05:31 AM XXCoder: dunno what I would make tho lol
05:32 AM XXCoder: wonder if it works with alyric also
05:32 AM p0g0: I should say that trick works with glass and copper too
05:33 AM p0g0: I think any pipe that becomes plastic with heat as long as you've packed the sand well and sealed the ends, it should hold the pipe open.
05:33 AM XXCoder: arylic would get strachy with sand sadly
05:34 AM p0g0: all pipes have to stretch to bend.
05:35 AM p0g0: and compress
05:35 AM XXCoder: no no not stretch
05:35 AM XXCoder: I cant spell it. marked by passage of rough surface
05:38 AM XXCoder: if you rub sandpaper on clear plastic it would get strachy
05:38 AM p0g0: scratched
05:38 AM XXCoder: thanks
05:39 AM p0g0: well, you can use glass beads or such.
05:39 AM XXCoder: youre so lucky you can speak out and remind yourself on how its spelled approxately
05:39 AM p0g0: It doesn't need to be sand blasting grade sand (the sharp stuff)
05:41 AM XXCoder: cool
05:41 AM XXCoder: I have few arylic tubes lol
05:41 AM XXCoder: dunno what to do with em
05:41 AM XXCoder: 1" 2 of em, and 2 55mm 300mm long ones
05:42 AM XXCoder: I have 2 2m 44mm diameter ones lol some of em will be used for cnc lighting
05:44 AM XXCoder: jthornton: watching a "restoration" video. guys sandblasting a tool, and clean bores for moving parts are not sealed woth tape lol
05:44 AM XXCoder: guys now using bondo to smooth it
05:46 AM XXCoder: guys turning it into modern porop
05:46 AM XXCoder: prop
05:52 AM jthornton: yea most putube videos are crap at best
05:54 AM XXCoder: my mechanics is very good channel usually. he does some odd stuff tho like bondo lol
05:54 AM XXCoder: but this video he lathed and milled new press table. expert
05:54 AM p0g0: Bondo is useful in body work...
05:54 AM XXCoder: restoration is bit wonky but its still great machinist videos thats why I like it.
05:55 AM XXCoder: 21 minutes bit of fat video but you might like it anyway jt, save for excess bandwidth left https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lV2T_IQOR24
05:55 AM XXCoder: its NOT "face" video
05:55 AM XXCoder: he never showed hos
06:03 AM Loetmichel: XXCoder: hehe, "dun fu**ed up!" ;)
06:03 AM XXCoder: ?
06:04 AM Loetmichel: the blasting glide surfaces i mean
06:04 AM XXCoder: he said it?
06:04 AM Loetmichel: no, thats what i imagined
06:04 AM XXCoder: ahh ok :)
06:21 AM jthornton: I like the way he made the label
06:23 AM XXCoder: that did look cool
06:24 AM XXCoder: jt hope you enjoyed video
07:28 AM * Loetmichel just faced off his vaccum table on the CNC 6040... with a brandnew 25mm slot bit for wood routers... MAN that thing is scary at 24kRPM ;)
07:29 AM Loetmichel: (and not balanced it seems, quite the vibration and resonances at spinup)
08:04 AM jymmmm: Good morning folks
09:16 AM BitEvil is now known as SpeedEvil
09:31 AM JT-Shop: morning jymmmm
09:52 AM jymmmm: JT-Shop: How ya doin? Above freezing today?
09:59 AM JT-Shop: by 1
10:00 AM jymmmm: Boooo
10:03 AM * JT-Shop tosses a couple more sticks in the stove
10:06 AM jymmmm: Is that heating the whole shop?
10:10 AM CaptHindsight: jymmmm: are they over with the power outages this season?
10:18 AM jymmmm: CaptHindsight: For the blackouts, I think so, fire season is over after the first hard rain/snow which was a couple weeks ago. There are still the seasonal power outages though
10:20 AM jymmmm: CaptHindsight: Had a 20 hour outage last week (?) as someone hit a pole, then a 20 minute outage as a pole top breaker popped.
10:21 AM jymmmm: CaptHindsight: PG&E up here is actually pretty good at restoring power in the winter time.
10:21 AM jymmmm: even at 3am
10:31 AM JT-Shop: heats the machine shop and the 3 car garage
10:31 AM JT-Shop: unless it gets really cold then I have a smaller logwood knock off in the garage
10:31 AM * Loetmichel has a small backup genset in the garage
10:32 AM Loetmichel: so far the power was always faster back than i could get out and start it and connect it to the house
10:32 AM Loetmichel: germany of course
10:32 AM * JT-Shop has a 3phase diesel generator for backup
11:19 AM skunkworks: who is a kvm expert?
11:19 AM skunkworks: (libvirt)
11:31 AM TurBoss: yo
11:31 AM TurBoss: skunkworks: how can I help
11:35 AM skunkworks: TurBoss: Thanks1
11:36 AM skunkworks: I am wondering about backups.. What I think I want is external backup w/memory dump so that I can have an exact image on a 2nd server.
11:36 AM skunkworks: Couple questions - can you actual start a image in the state it was? (on)
11:37 AM TurBoss: for backups I use bareos
11:41 AM TurBoss: i didn't try but with 2 kvm servers you can clone machines
11:41 AM TurBoss: and with 2 lun you can also have backup images
11:44 AM TurBoss: do you use virt-manager?
11:58 AM skunkworks: I do..
11:59 AM skunkworks: and you can do internal snapshots.. But that is in the current virtual disk..
11:59 AM skunkworks: I was kinda looking for a way to have 2 identical servers that one gets snapshots that could be spun up
11:59 AM skunkworks: if that makes sense
12:07 PM skunkworks: but I am not finding enough solid info on it..
12:57 PM jymmmm: skunkworks: you mean clone the current state of the vm?
01:00 PM jymmmm: skunkworks: I use vrtualbox, not kvm fwiw
01:01 PM jymmmm: skunkworks: How's your scope been treating you?
01:02 PM skunkworks: jymmmm: yes be able to take the current running state of a vm and put it on another server.
01:03 PM skunkworks: jymmmm: good - scope has been good
01:04 PM jymmmm: skunkworks: Okey, *I* would shut the VM down gracefully. Then export it. The export can usually include the storage device so it's not "shared" with multiple VM's. Then copy it to your second or 3rd or 4th box, and fire it up
01:06 PM jymmmm: skunkworks: Yes, you should be able to export in it's "Current state (running but paused)", but I like the safer route
01:08 PM jymmmm: skunkworks: Plus sometimes it'll clear out temp files for you that you don't need to copy over
03:01 PM Loetmichel: *meh* Inkpissers at general and especially Canon MG5350... Wife: "can you print me this single sided document please?" $me "Sure!"... 45 min later, after a lot of "error 6A80, 6A81", tinkering with the head rails and the cleaning unit/head seals, some "Black empty", "Cyan empty" and "yellow empty" fixing i finally got that page to print. I think i use that Printer FAR to rarely. :-(
03:01 PM XXCoder: lol
03:04 PM p0g0: Loetmichel, there are cocktail "ink" preservatives one can run thru an inkjet to lessen the clotting. I just tend to buy extra printheads...
03:08 PM Loetmichel: p0g0: it wasnt clottet
03:08 PM Loetmichel: it cleans itself SO much that it has no chance of clotting
03:08 PM p0g0: oh, just ink deprived..
03:08 PM Loetmichel: but the greas on the rails starts to get stiff. giving tons of errors ;)
03:08 PM Loetmichel: its a few years old.
03:08 PM Loetmichel: grease
03:08 PM p0g0: yes, that would do it.
03:27 PM JT-Shop: Loetmichel, laser printers are cheaper than ink
03:31 PM Loetmichel: JT-Shop: yes, thats why a new samsung colour laser sits in the garage for about a year now
03:31 PM Loetmichel: just cant be bothered to get it inside to install it in the network here at home
03:31 PM Loetmichel: ... thats about how often i have to print something these days ;)
03:59 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: NAh, you're jsut being a lazy bastard is all =)
04:06 PM Deejay: gn8
04:51 PM _unreal_: ve7it, hello, got into the post office finally. mile long line. I did get to the desk and found out a litte so they informed me to use a different box and the paper work to fill out. so I have a little homework tonight
04:52 PM _unreal_: ve7it, grabbed two copies of the declarations paper work just incase :).
04:53 PM _unreal_: ve7it, I need only to make a screw terminal adapter board and so I can interconnect that motor controller to what ever.
05:36 PM _unreal_: ve7it, trying to wire up the motor now
05:51 PM enleth: https://imgur.com/a/NJHrtvm
05:51 PM enleth: plasma cutting on a robot
05:55 PM _unreal_: ok shower time
05:55 PM SpeedEvil: Shower on a robot.
05:56 PM _unreal_: bzzzzzzzZZZZZzzZZZZZzzZZZZZ
05:56 PM _unreal_: no conformal coating
05:57 PM _unreal_: so I just took a 9v bat to the bldc I have and I know the ORDER of the wires to at least turn the motor in one direction
05:57 PM SpeedEvil: Quite a lot of the industrial ones are high-pressure-steem cleanable, not just water
05:58 PM _unreal_: but i'm not sure about when it does the reverse voltage if it does?
05:58 PM _unreal_: ok shower time
05:58 PM _unreal_: then I'm going to try hooking up power
08:36 PM SpeedEvil is now known as Guest72157
09:16 PM CaptHindsight: https://imgur.com/gallery/ks1xTV9
09:27 PM ve7it: _unreal_, have you been injured? flash burns? runaway motor tangled in your dreadlocks? overcome by smoking wires?
09:41 PM _unreal_: ve7it, ?
09:42 PM _unreal_: just got back a little while ago from the movies, took my daughter to see frozen 2.
09:42 PM _unreal_: it was ok, clearly some BS save the planet messages in it.
09:42 PM ve7it: reports of your demise were highly exagerated
09:42 PM _unreal_: clearly
09:43 PM ve7it: did you get the motor running?
09:43 PM _unreal_: kind of
09:43 PM _unreal_: I did get it wired up but its not turning and the motor controller is failing on error
09:44 PM _unreal_: i'm sure I found the +v and -v for the hall sensor and the hall sensor wires. I just dont know what one's are uvw
09:44 PM ve7it: as far as the planet goes.... it can tolerate and feed 2B people, how do we get the other 6B to "get off the bus"?
09:44 PM _unreal_: same with the motor windings
09:44 PM _unreal_: ?
09:45 PM _unreal_: ahhh
09:45 PM _unreal_: you been drinking?
09:45 PM ve7it: not enough!
09:45 PM _unreal_: hum
09:46 PM _unreal_: so when I power on. it energizes the motor the motor locks to a location doesnt move. then kills power to the motor after about 5 seconds
09:48 PM _unreal_: ve7it, do you know much about BLDC motors?
09:48 PM ve7it: not sure how smart the controller is.... you may have to try all the combinations on the hall sensor wires.. best to write down a table and try the combinations one by one
09:50 PM _unreal_: ya did something like that
09:50 PM ve7it: I would tie the drive command at about 25% (5v/4).. direction can probably float or you can tie it to gnd
09:50 PM _unreal_: I donot know how the bldc works though. i dont know if the hall picks ups read the magnet? or if they read the coil?
09:50 PM _unreal_: drive command?
09:51 PM ve7it: the 0-5v speed input
09:51 PM _unreal_: I have a POT wired to the control side
09:51 PM ve7it: ah ... ok nevermind
09:51 PM _unreal_: for speed only
09:52 PM ve7it: you got it covered
09:54 PM _unreal_: I dont think I need any of the other connections on the motor controller, I have +v -v 3 hall wires, then 3 motor wires. an the other connector has the POT that came with the kid.
09:55 PM _unreal_: I assume it should if the contacts are right spin in one direction ALWAYS and I assume it should match the speed setting of the POT. as is
09:56 PM ve7it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9wXu_pd5iA old video I did with stm servo work
10:01 PM ve7it: just looking at your data sheet.. not sure if VSR needs to be hooked up and not sure if speed pot is for setting max speed or ???
10:01 PM _unreal_: checking video
10:02 PM ve7it: I am hoping to sub your motor and driver board for that part of the project
10:02 PM _unreal_: :) I watched that video before
10:03 PM _unreal_: ! oh speak of I need to get that decliration paper work done
10:03 PM ve7it: hang on... I think I have a sample here of the paperwork... maybe out of date... let me try and find it
10:04 PM _unreal_: declaration
10:05 PM _unreal_: you wouldnt happend to knwo where I put my packing tape would you?
10:05 PM _unreal_: hehe
10:06 PM ve7it: https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/r0/download/matrix.org/FUREMDwTUgFQyPoyuXtobODx see if you can see that
10:07 PM ve7it: does that look familiar?
10:14 PM _unreal_: chcking
10:15 PM _unreal_: kind of
10:35 PM _unreal_: really wish I knew where my packing tape roll is
10:35 PM _unreal_: sigh
10:45 PM _unreal_: ve7it, postal code? is this the postal code? V9P 9C9
10:45 PM ve7it: yes
10:45 PM _unreal_: with space?
10:45 PM ve7it: doesnt really matter
10:46 PM ve7it: space is easier to read
10:47 PM _unreal_: ve7it, msg
10:47 PM _unreal_: yawn.... almost midnight here
10:47 PM _unreal_: I wont get a chance to try and mail tomorrow :( I'll have to try sat. morning
10:47 PM _unreal_: tommrow is the drop the kid off to the bitch day
