02:09 AM Loetmichel: Hmm, i think asked that already, but here we go again: Does someone have a link for a cheap german aviable RasPi3 kit with webcam? $me wants to "upgrade" his Anet A8 3D-printer.
03:04 AM Deejay: moin
04:56 AM Tom_L: morning
04:57 AM Tom_L: 24°F, Hi 52
05:07 AM jthornton: 24°F
05:07 AM XXCoder: 46 to 45f all day rain. foreverrain
05:08 AM XXCoder: it might be merely cloudy on friday, and temperate lowered to 44-39f lol
05:27 AM veek_ is now known as veek
07:01 AM jymmmm: Good morning folks
07:01 AM jymmmm: jthornton: ouch :C
07:02 AM * jymmmm guesses the cold broke Jthorton's wireless cable like a twig
07:03 AM jymmmm: wb jthornton
07:04 AM jymmmm: Tom_L ouch
10:00 AM jthornton: where did I go?
10:05 AM serp: where did you come from
10:50 AM jymmmm: jthornton: You went POOF and then returned, magic!!!
01:47 PM beachbumpete1: Hey guys anyone here a draftsight user?
02:05 PM miss0r: beachbumpete1: Hey!
02:05 PM miss0r: Any success so far with the spindle?
02:12 PM beachbumpete1: Not really.. I got it to about 2k again and it sounds like it is dry of grease. I sorta got frustrated and walked away from it while I work on other things right now.
02:12 PM beachbumpete1: Ever used draftsight autocad clone?
02:12 PM beachbumpete1: I don't know if I have a bug here or if it is because I am using the free version of the software..
02:13 PM beachbumpete1: Basically when I create drawing layouts in the paper space anytime I make multiple drawings and save the main drawing and then reopen it only one of the paper space drawings is saved?
02:14 PM beachbumpete1: very frustrating
02:14 PM beachbumpete1: tried to find a support number on their website and its like go away if you do not pay for the software for the most part
02:15 PM beachbumpete1: I could not even figure out how to get to a forum to ask my question there...
02:15 PM beachbumpete1: so I figured I would ask here
02:16 PM beachbumpete1: I have a drawing right now that needs like 50 paper space sheets printed and I would hate to make all those title blocks and insert all of that text only to save and lose all but one of them...
02:16 PM SpeedEvil: So use something else?
02:16 PM SpeedEvil: Or do 50 files?
02:19 PM beachbumpete1: what do you mean use something else?
02:19 PM beachbumpete1: I guess I could copy these doors into 50 different files and save them individually but even the single doors I am drawing need to paper spaces one for the plan view and one for elevation etc..
02:20 PM jymmmm: https://blog.draftsight.com/2019/02/01/online-resources-for-learning-draftsight-part-1/
02:20 PM roycroft: i dont use draftight, but i do use autocad (an older version - 2008)
02:20 PM roycroft: but it saves all the sheets in a drawing just fine
02:21 PM roycroft: i don't know how close draftsight is to autocad though
02:21 PM beachbumpete1: I am fairly adept at drawing in draftsight or autocad now but I have never seen this issue before
02:21 PM roycroft: i'd assume it is based on the same code, but with features stripped out
02:22 PM beachbumpete1: its virtually identical
02:22 PM roycroft: i'd bet that it's a license issue
02:22 PM roycroft: i.e. if you buy a commercial license it will save all the sheets fine
02:22 PM roycroft: it just sounds like a restriction they would put on a community/free version
02:22 PM beachbumpete1: thats what I am wondering
02:23 PM beachbumpete1: but I am almost certain I have saved multiple sheets before
02:23 PM jymmmm: https://www.3ds.com/support/users-communities/
02:23 PM beachbumpete1: they have forced a move to a pay sheme starting the first of the year so I will have to ante up anyway
02:24 PM beachbumpete1: been using this software for a very long time and actually prefer it to autocad
02:24 PM beachbumpete1: I actually like the paper space very much it makes things much easier
02:25 PM beachbumpete1: jymmm I have tried those and their does not seem to be a draftsight forum that I could get to.
02:25 PM beachbumpete1: I created an account and everything
02:25 PM jymmmm: at the very bottom?
02:25 PM beachbumpete1: the draftsight link?
02:25 PM jymmmm: nods
02:26 PM beachbumpete1: yeah I clicked that and when it opens in the 3ds thing there does not appear to be a forum there
02:26 PM jymmmm: ah
02:26 PM jymmmm: it asks for a login, I don't have/want one =)
02:26 PM beachbumpete1: woah wait a minute
02:27 PM beachbumpete1: I just tried it again and there is stuff in there now.
02:27 PM beachbumpete1: weird
02:27 PM jymmmm: lol
02:28 PM jymmmm: it's magic, or voodoo
02:32 PM beachbumpete1: apparently
02:37 PM beachbumpete1: Well I made a post asking on thier forum. we will see what gives. Was hoping someone here had been using it and could try it for me.
04:06 PM Deejay: gn8
05:02 PM Sabotend_ is now known as Sabotender
05:34 PM _unreal_: ve7it, hi
05:34 PM _unreal_: just got my plugs
05:34 PM ve7it: cool
05:34 PM _unreal_: just finished crimping wires to the plug fits perfect
05:35 PM _unreal_: I still need to shower and take my daughter shopping for shes. she HAS a hole in the bottom of one
05:35 PM _unreal_: hehe that for me is a first, normally she wears the top of the shoes off
05:35 PM _unreal_: dragging her #@$%^@#$% feet on the ground when on the swing sets at school
05:36 PM _unreal_: so ya at this point its totally wired. all that is left is wiring to a motor later tonight
05:36 PM ve7it: that should be fun.... have to get her a 3D printer for xmas so she can print new custom soles out of flexible filament
05:36 PM _unreal_: heh
05:36 PM _unreal_: ya
05:37 PM _unreal_: worn holes in the shoes? no problem print an insert
05:37 PM ve7it: It would be fun to make a set of sasquatch soles for a pair of boots and wonder around in the mud
05:38 PM _unreal_: hum
05:38 PM _unreal_: so like I said last week if you wanted to test some arduino code with those china motor controllers I can do that tonight
05:39 PM _unreal_: arduino or even stm32f4 discovery
05:39 PM _unreal_: I have a bunch of different chips on hand
05:39 PM _unreal_: chips pic chips controllers etc....
05:40 PM _unreal_: I've dabbled a bit with the arduino stuff and spent way to much money on hardware
05:40 PM _unreal_: do and learn hardware
05:40 PM _unreal_: be nice to do more learning but I cant get more then a few min half the time from my daughter
05:41 PM ve7it: still working on the stm code.... getting the encoder interface to use the hardware counters in the chip is a little bit of a pain... I have an interface working that uses interrupts, but the hardware counters seem like a better idea... do you have a working motor with an encoder attached?
05:42 PM _unreal_: not yet
05:42 PM _unreal_: I just finshed crimping 10min ago
05:42 PM _unreal_: the connectors into the socket I ordered
05:43 PM _unreal_: CONN SOCKET 16-20AWG CRIMP TIN CONN SOCKET 16-20AWG CRIMP TIN
05:44 PM _unreal_: VHR-8N <-- socket
05:44 PM _unreal_: socket crimps SVH-41T-P1.1
05:45 PM _unreal_: ve7it, question for you I just found my gyro do you set from that sat. do you want me to toss it in as well?
05:45 PM _unreal_: I just found the gyro from the Satellite, is an xyz gyro.
05:46 PM ve7it: how big is it?? electronic or mechanical?
05:46 PM _unreal_: electronic
05:46 PM _unreal_: foot print its like 3x3"
05:47 PM _unreal_: I guess the individual chips them selfs when new are $100 each JUST the chip inside each gyro
05:47 PM _unreal_: a replacement gyro is like $1200 for the 4004 seatel
05:48 PM _unreal_: its capable of i2c or spi or serial. I dont know what its currently setup as
05:49 PM _unreal_: only a few pins for I/O 6 pins on the header I think? I'd have to look at it
05:49 PM _unreal_: and its an XYZ gyro
05:49 PM ve7it: sounds like it would be fun to play with.... cant think of a use right now.... I am not building any full size drones (at the moment)!
05:54 PM ve7it: _unreal_, what is the stm board you have called? I can build some test code for it
05:54 PM _unreal_: stm32f4-discovery
05:55 PM Tom_L: i got one of those still in the blister pack
05:55 PM _unreal_: https://www.st.com/en/evaluation-tools/stm32f4discovery.html
05:55 PM _unreal_: shgould be that one
05:55 PM _unreal_: that is the most powerful uC I have I believe
05:56 PM _unreal_: I have some FPGA's but they are older :/
05:56 PM _unreal_: and they are just chips sitting on adapter boards
05:56 PM _unreal_: no clock no NOTHING
05:56 PM Tom_L: you program fpga?
05:57 PM _unreal_: I have the ablity
05:57 PM _unreal_: I dont know programming for shit
05:57 PM Tom_L: been messin with vhdl/verilog a bit
05:58 PM _unreal_: I have enough aapters that My universal programmer could likely program most anything
05:58 PM jthornton: making any progress?
05:58 PM Tom_L: no
05:58 PM _unreal_: ok ve7it need to shower
05:58 PM Tom_L: :)
05:58 PM _unreal_: and do some money tossing :(
05:58 PM Tom_L: i did hook up one of the mesa cards to jtag today though
05:59 PM jthornton: I putzed around for the last day and a half with my bp
05:59 PM _unreal_: children and there needs. why why must they need shoes again and again and again
05:59 PM _unreal_: sigh
05:59 PM Tom_L: get the qtpyvcp stuff working on it yet?
05:59 PM _unreal_: like an insect molting
05:59 PM jthornton: sorta I have to load it by selecting the config.yml file
05:59 PM Tom_L: i noticed you were having problems
06:00 PM jthornton: I was about to pull out the .44 magnum and ventilate it
06:01 PM Tom_L: haven't had alot of time to just sit down and code lately
06:01 PM Tom_L: finally got all the carpet laid and stuff back where it goes
06:02 PM jthornton: I sold off a few tools I never use anymore today, so productive that way
06:02 PM Tom_L: sell that little mill yet?
06:02 PM jthornton: wife can see out of one eye clearly now...
06:02 PM Tom_L: good
06:05 PM Tom_L: funny, i had to take mine in for glasses the other day too
06:05 PM Tom_L: no surgery
06:08 PM jthornton: not put it on CL yet, need to remove the vise and clean it up
06:08 PM jthornton: it's 6x42 or so table so not too little
06:18 PM _unreal_: I'm about to take off
06:18 PM _unreal_: but
06:18 PM _unreal_: what woul you guys estimate the value $$ ? of the machine I'm building? with a 6-10" Z an 18x32" working area?
06:20 PM _unreal_: ?
06:20 PM _unreal_: sigh
08:51 PM flyback: unreal
08:51 PM flyback: if it cuts cardboard cnc style
08:51 PM flyback: you can find people who will pay you to cut out shit once in a while
08:51 PM flyback: not a lot of $$$ but still make money
08:51 PM flyback: or trade services
08:52 PM flyback: I think even the worst homemade cnc machine can still be light years ahead of doing some stuff by hand
08:57 PM Javabean: not really, try making a mechanical pocket watch cog on that cnc... or even a mechanical coocoo(spelling changes by country) clock.... some things will just be better/easier to do by hand
09:48 PM _unreal_: ve7it, I'm back
10:37 PM norias: howdy
10:57 PM norias: hi veek
11:12 PM SpeedEvil is now known as Guest61265
