02:57 AM Loetmichel: hmm, anyone any idea what mill bit i should buy to do THAT again? Have to modify another 46 housings: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FGNbgkg9O2Y
03:02 AM XXCoder: you was breaking like 2 tools per parts right?
03:02 AM XXCoder: whats your radius limit?
03:02 AM XXCoder: or maybe make it 2 tools bigger radius and small to corner it
03:02 AM Loetmichel: something like that, yes
03:02 AM XXCoder: what tool type was it? carbide, alum high speed?
03:02 AM Loetmichel: 3mm drills, so about 2.5mm mill bit diameter is limit
03:02 AM XXCoder: fuking autoplay
03:02 AM Loetmichel: carbide
03:02 AM XXCoder: maybe try some high speed for alum tools
03:02 AM XXCoder: it have to specify for alum as its better for that
03:02 AM Loetmichel: carbide is a bit brittle for that "dremel" bearings indeed
03:02 AM Loetmichel: but i doubt HSS will last
03:02 AM XXCoder: i notice you use dig in to go deeper on circles etc
03:02 AM XXCoder: maybe make it helix to lessen stress
03:02 AM XXCoder: might be able to pull apart dermel and just make high quality bearings version lol
03:34 AM Deejay: moin
04:43 AM jthornton: MORNING
04:44 AM XXCoder: morning
04:45 AM jthornton: lol caps lock was on
04:56 AM Tom_L: morning
04:56 AM Tom_L: 19°F, Hi 44
05:01 AM jthornton: 32°F
09:32 AM jymmmm: good morning folks
12:09 PM Loetmichel: hmm. considering i had a few hickups today and the install is damaged anyway: is there a new version of linuxCNC live/install disk aviable with a still supported os? or do i have to fight with the buildbot?
12:17 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: Yu mean this http://www.linuxcnc.org/iso/linuxcnc-2.7.14-wheezy.iso
12:17 PM jymmmm: ???
12:18 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: The Debian 7 Wheezy ISO uses RTAI which LinuxCNC has used as the Realtime layer since the very beginning. This gives the best real-time performance and is generally a better choice for software stepping using a parallel port. However making a stable version of a 4.x Kernel for Stretch (and eventually Buster) has proven difficult, which is partly why we still distribute the EOL Wheezy. This is compatible with Mesa PCI and PC
12:18 PM jymmmm: Ie and Pico interface boards but is not compatable with Mesa Ethernet interface boards.
12:22 PM Loetmichel: Jymmm: wheezy is out of support
12:22 PM Loetmichel: i meant the new version , buster or at least stretch
12:23 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: http://linuxcnc.org/downloads/
12:23 PM Loetmichel: i know its not rtai any more. but i heard the userspace realtime should work pretty well with an LPT port machine
12:23 PM Loetmichel: ah, nice
12:23 PM Loetmichel: thank you
12:23 PM jymmmm: http://www.linuxcnc.org/testing-stretch-rtpreempt/
12:24 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: :)
12:24 PM Loetmichel: last time i looked it was still only aviable via buildbot
12:24 PM Loetmichel: :-)
12:25 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: I guess someone got bored and made an iso =)
12:25 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: And as always... check the sha256
12:26 PM Loetmichel: hmm, which one to use? the -r13 or the -nothing?
12:26 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: $ shasum -a 256 filename.iso
12:26 PM Loetmichel: na
12:27 PM Loetmichel: apart from the fact that i am on a windows machine: i meant: which iso to download? the -r12, -r13 or the one without version?
12:28 PM Loetmichel: which is the most recent one. cant figure it out, the text on the top is a bit unclar to me
12:29 PM skunkworks: Loetmichel: depends on the computer.. some run latency as good as rtai
12:29 PM skunkworks: new better usually
12:29 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: Doesn't matter if on windows, https://www.slavasoft.com/hashcalc/
12:29 PM Loetmichel: your shasum command wouldnt work in a cmd on win i meant ;)
12:29 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: IDK why there is NOTHING and rxx
12:30 PM jymmmm: Loetmichel: I cna't help that you are using the worlds most profitable virus and think it's an OS -rolls eyes-
12:31 PM Loetmichel: Jymmm: not much choice at the company, and also not much choice here at home if you want to play 3dgames ;)
12:31 PM Loetmichel: at least its win7 and not win10 ;)
12:32 PM jymmmm: I stand by what I said :) Also, hashclac is a nice lil tool to have handy
12:33 PM Loetmichel: hmm, am i right that if i copy the stepconf file from the old install before reinstalling the machine with stretch from scratch it will build the linuxCNC config just fine?
12:33 PM jymmmm: backup your file(s) and try it??
12:34 PM Loetmichel: i.e: the old machines stepconf file
12:34 PM Loetmichel: yes, thats the plan first thing in the morning at the company
12:34 PM Loetmichel: just wanted to know if there are hurdles in the way.
01:33 PM FinboySlick: Wow, anyone looking for a welder? https://www.ebay.ca/itm/MTS-205-Amp-MIG-Wire-Feed-Welder-Flux-Cored-Wire-TIG-Stick-Arc-DC-Combo-Welding/383305822319
01:33 PM FinboySlick: Top-quality!
01:40 PM jymmmm: comments in spanish "It's a rip off"
01:41 PM jymmmm: FinboySlick: how bad could it be for $23???
01:41 PM FinboySlick: You think? ;)
01:42 PM Nick001-Shop: Does it work and for how long??
01:42 PM FinboySlick: I suspect the only thing it will weld is the prongs of the power lead when they enter the electrical outlet.
01:43 PM jymmmm: Is $23 worht taking a chance?
01:44 PM jymmmm: Don't expect ot to weld 1/2" plate, but little stuff?
01:44 PM Rab: (Product images 1:1 scale on typical monitor)
01:44 PM jymmmm: Nick001-Shop: 2 minutes?
01:45 PM jymmmm: It's got a metal (no plastic) wire feed
01:46 PM Rab: jymmmm, don't get scammed by that listing! This one's half the price! https://www.ebay.ca/itm/392579245133
01:47 PM jymmmm: Seriously, think I should get it???
01:47 PM Rab: This one's even cheaper. https://www.ebay.ca/itm/383304026134
01:48 PM jymmmm: It's literally disposable, I don't expect any replacement parts to be available, but for $11???
01:50 PM jymmmm: Even $11 in clamps wouldn't be bad?
01:51 PM jymmmm: ...and cables
01:51 PM jymmmm: I'm seriously tempted as a "what the hell, why not?" sorta thing
01:56 PM Rab: Do you trust a seller whose history consists entirely of two dozen "56-60mm brautiful fine natural China white jade gems bangle bracelet" lots and then a sudden switch to $11 welders?
02:04 PM Nick001-Shop: another seller has "2019 Women octopus Pendant Alloy Metal Long Necklace for Women Vintage Style" and that's it
02:06 PM Rab: https://www.ebay.ca/str/chuamp6
02:06 PM * Rab furiously adding everything to cart
02:08 PM Rab: I notice chuamp6 has a good feedback for the microscope, so that must be legit.
02:08 PM Rab: After 96 previous positive feedbacks for "Men Summer Boardshorts Surf Beachwear Shorts Swim Sport Trunks Pants 2XL".
02:10 PM jymmmm: IDK, I'm seriously temped, now not sure which one
02:10 PM Rab: Why not all of them?
02:11 PM jymmmm: I rather only get ripped off for one.... the $11 welder isn't too much, the $23 mircoscope is more tempting though
02:12 PM Rab: Haha @ other items, this seller knows what's up: https://www.ebay.ca/sch/xingman85/m.html
02:12 PM jymmmm: Ok seriously, the $11 welder ???
02:13 PM jymmmm: Seems like I'd at least have $11 in clamps and cables
02:14 PM FinboySlick: jymmmm: 11 bucks, free shipping... I'm pretty sure that's cheap even for the included gloves.
02:14 PM Rab: jymmmm, why would they send you anything?
02:15 PM FinboySlick: Rab: But it's 'Returns accepted'.
02:15 PM jymmmm: FinboySlick: what gloves? https://www.ebay.com/itm/392579245133
02:16 PM jymmmm: you pay the return shipping, I'd jsut contact paypal instead
02:16 PM jymmmm: Ok, it's a POS, but is there ANY value in it?
02:17 PM FinboySlick: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/5-IN-1-MIG-MAG-TIG-FCAW-MMA-WELDER-INVERTER-220A-WELD-MACHINE-POWERMAT/383304026134
02:17 PM FinboySlick: On that 11$ one.
02:17 PM Nick001-Shop: WELL - that kills the deal
02:17 PM jymmmm: https://www.amazon.com/MTS-205-TIG-Torch-Aluminum-Voltage-Welding/dp/B07B85LBCQ
02:22 PM Nick001-Shop: did you ask if they do price match?
02:22 PM FinboySlick: https://www.ebay.ca/itm/5-IN-1-MIG-MAG-TIG-FCAW-MMA-WELDER-INVERTER-220A-WELD-MACHINE-POWERMAT/273771908585 seems to be the same
02:31 PM Jymmm: Ok, ETA is FEB 11th
02:31 PM Loetmichel: bah, why are the good rides always so expensive? Would like to have a truck as old as me as a daily driver, but NOT at that price point :-( -> https://suchen.mobile.de/auto-inserat/ford-f-100-ranger-pick-up-gorinchem/280249909.html
02:31 PM * Jymmm ordered the $11 welder =)
02:31 PM Rab: Jymmm, they'll be singing your username in China tonight.
02:32 PM Jymmm: Rab: HAHA
02:32 PM FinboySlick: Seems it's 230v 50Hz.
02:33 PM Jymmm: Rab: https://www.amazon.com/MTS-205-TIG-Torch-Aluminum-Voltage-Welding/dp/B07B85LBCQ
02:33 PM FinboySlick: They're going for the european fools.
02:33 PM Rab: Plot twist: that one's a scam too
02:34 PM Jymmm: Rab: But, it's $500 and good ratings =)
02:38 PM Jymmm: Oh look, the manufacture is here in California... http://amicopower.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=89&product_id=130
02:39 PM Rab: Jymmm, seems like a rebadge. https://www.amazon.com/gp/customer-reviews/R2E9Z9DOF523MX
02:41 PM Jymmm: Rab: Oh sure, I'm even expecting the $111 one I just ordered to be a pirate copy of a copy
02:41 PM Jymmm: $11*
02:43 PM Jymmm: Rab: LMAO http://amicopower.com/index.php?route=information/information&information_id=4
03:01 PM jymmmm: Rab: It might be funny if in the box is a box of matches and metal shavings
03:01 PM jymmmm: FinboySlick: which one is 230/50hz?
03:07 PM jymmmm: Oh man, Odo just died
03:07 PM jymmmm: Odo or Oto?
03:08 PM SpeedEvil: d
03:08 PM jymmmm: 79yo
03:09 PM jymmmm: SpeedEvil: I ordered an $11 welder =)
03:10 PM FinboySlick: jymmmm: The yellow one seems to be.
03:11 PM FinboySlick: (230v/50Hz
03:11 PM jymmmm: FinboySlick: ah gotcha, the one I ordered is 120/230
03:14 PM jymmmm: It looks liek 30 ppl bought that welder today, one bought 2 another bought 4
03:37 PM Loetmichel: Jymmm: have a link?
03:38 PM Loetmichel: for the welder
03:38 PM Loetmichel: and yes, rene auberjones( sp? died
03:38 PM Loetmichel: sad day
03:40 PM Deejay: gn8
04:44 PM Jymmm: Loetmichel: https://www.ebay.com/itm/392579245133
04:46 PM Jymmm: Loetmichel: Same welder https://www.amazon.com/MTS-205-TIG-Torch-Aluminum-Voltage-Welding/dp/B07B85LBCQ
04:49 PM Loetmichel: Jymmm: where's the catch?
04:49 PM Loetmichel: that cant be real?
04:49 PM Jymmm: Loetmichel: IDK, but I guess I'll find out
04:52 PM Loetmichel: we'll find out together
04:52 PM Loetmichel: just ordered two ;)
04:52 PM Jymmm: Loetmichel: lol, did you really? Because I did?
04:53 PM Loetmichel: if it works: NICE
04:53 PM Loetmichel: one for the company, one for home
04:53 PM Loetmichel: if not: not much lost ;)
04:53 PM Loetmichel: 21 eur ;)
04:53 PM Jymmm: Hopefully we actually get "something"
04:54 PM Loetmichel: I'll be surprised if we get actual welders.
04:54 PM Loetmichel: but one can be hopeful ;)
04:55 PM Jymmm: matches and metal shavings?
04:56 PM Loetmichel: its a gample
04:56 PM Loetmichel: gamble
04:56 PM Loetmichel: if we get something useful: nice
04:57 PM Jymmm: yeah
04:57 PM Loetmichel: if not: "stupid tax", cheap enough to be worth a try ;)
04:57 PM Loetmichel: s/stupid/gullible
04:57 PM Loetmichel: i think
04:58 PM Jymmm: lol
05:00 PM Jymmm: Loetmichel: Another one https://www.ebay.com/itm/MTS-205-Amp-MIG-Wire-Feed-Welder-Flux-Cored-Wire-TIG-Stick-Arc-DC-Combo-Welding/383305822319
05:01 PM Loetmichel: Jymmm: and i paid with paypal...
05:01 PM Loetmichel: so if anything isnt right: no problem ;)
05:06 PM Jymmm: Loetmichel: Yeah, we'll see. I got a "ETA of Feb 11th"
05:06 PM Loetmichel: jan 16 here
05:07 PM Jymmm: Loetmichel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLsjrGKdctE
05:13 PM Loetmichel: yeah.
05:14 PM Loetmichel: as i said: i would be surprised if thats what gets delivered
05:14 PM Loetmichel: but if so: lucky shot
05:14 PM Loetmichel: :-)
05:14 PM Loetmichel: i dont doubt that you can deduct at least 30% of the current rating ;)
05:14 PM Loetmichel: to get REAL values ;-)
05:15 PM Loetmichel: same with my little inverter stick welder i bought locally a while ago
05:15 PM Jymmm: $11 in cables in the least
05:15 PM Loetmichel: the 80A it says it can do are actually closer to 65A according to my clip on amperemeter
05:15 PM Loetmichel: the chinese have balls of steel though
05:16 PM Loetmichel: http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=9187&g2_imageViewsIndex=1
05:17 PM Loetmichel: wouldnt have rated those AWG10 wires 80A ;)
05:17 PM Jymmm: lol
05:20 PM Loetmichel: good thing is that that thing so SO lightweight that you can put the shoulder strap on so it sits near your hip and a LONG extension cord and then start welding
05:20 PM Loetmichel: works pretty decently with 1.5mm electrodes
05:20 PM Loetmichel: OK with 2.5mm electrodes and not at all with 3mm and bigger ;)
05:21 PM Loetmichel: (no surprise at 65A tops ;)
05:57 PM _unreal_: hello
06:30 PM net|: https://github.com/tecan/videoDriverUpdater/blob/master/OtherScripts/copyq-scripts/desktop.ini
09:21 PM _unreal_: hum
09:27 PM _unreal_: hy
09:53 PM _unreal_: ve7it, you live?
09:53 PM _unreal_: so eerything has been packed
09:53 PM _unreal_: err was packed, I got out of work late today
09:53 PM _unreal_: with luck I'll get out on time
09:54 PM _unreal_: sucks living an hour away getting out at 4 being begged to stay till 5 and racing home to pick up my daughter before I get wacked with a late fee
09:57 PM _unreal_: ve7it, omg.. I'm not expecting delevery of those sockets for those motor controllers I ordereed from china till fri. wtf... I ordered them on thr.
09:57 PM _unreal_: said they would be here tue.
10:40 PM roycroft: hey, folks
10:41 PM roycroft: this would be a query more for the cnc router people than anyone else
10:41 PM roycroft: i have a project coming up where i'll need to make a large number (~150) of 10mm wide slots in some ash
10:41 PM roycroft: it's all but impossible to source 10mm router bits here in the us
10:42 PM roycroft: i am thinking about using end mills instead
10:42 PM roycroft: do any of you use them in hard woods like that, and is there a particular type that works best?
10:44 PM roycroft: it may be obvious, but what i'm wanting to do is use festool dominos for the project without shelling out $1400 for a festool domino cutter
10:46 PM * roycroft is already in the red from festool purchases this year
