01:30 AM Loetmichel: mornin'. Just sat in the usual morning traffic jam, looking around me. 12 VWs, 7 BMWs (including mine), 8 Mercs (including the police right behind me), a couple renaults, one hyunday, one ford, one skoda. Germany is pretty rich it seems... #just german things.
02:16 AM Deejay: moin
04:45 AM SpeedEvil: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bJ00jLOhkhY
04:46 AM SpeedEvil: I do love construction based cartoony stuff.
04:48 AM XXCoder: dammit
04:49 AM XXCoder: how do I search on ebay for rock
04:49 AM XXCoder: surface and rock is super common words
04:53 AM SpeedEvil: Specific type of rock?
04:53 AM XXCoder: found a good term'
04:54 AM SpeedEvil: (granite,sandstone,dickite)
04:54 AM XXCoder: granite surface
04:54 AM SpeedEvil: surface plate also
04:55 AM SpeedEvil: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Egineers-Surface-Plate-Quality/254014181288 - hah. Spotted this at 50 quid, it's gone up.
04:56 AM Tom_L: morning
05:03 AM syyl: wow
05:03 AM syyl: 190gbp for that?!
05:04 AM syyl: "usual wear and tear"
05:04 AM syyl: haha
05:04 AM syyl: he is even funny
05:04 AM XXCoder: best to ask when it was last certified
05:04 AM XXCoder: and if it have failed
05:05 AM SpeedEvil: I like the fact that you have to question if those are bootmarks, or someones been using it as an anvil for something.
05:05 AM syyl: you get the footprints and the pigeon-poo for free on top!
05:16 AM jthornton: morning
05:17 AM Loetmichel: if you have a good enough and large enough surface grinder or straigedge and a scraper that COULD be a nice aged block of cast iron to make a surface plate from ;)
05:23 AM SpeedEvil: Loetmichel: At 50 quid, I was contemplating using it as a router base type thingy
05:23 AM SpeedEvil: as I wouldn't feel bad about drilling a few holes and pockets in it
05:24 AM p0g0: You could fill the holes later too.
05:32 AM miss0r2: Do any of you guys have experience setting up cimco dnc-max?
06:21 AM miss0r2: Sweet jesus :D My transfer rate from PC to cnc has gone from 2400 baud to 9600! Now that is something you can feel
06:23 AM XXCoder: bauds? what ois this, early 90s? ;)
06:23 AM XXCoder: btw there is people legally able to drink alchol that never had a pre-internet life
06:31 AM miss0r2: hehe well - they are the lucky ones. They have grown up their entire life knowing every little mistake you make will be photo documented and shared on the interwebs
06:31 AM miss0r2: as a result, they are, in general more carefull. Us old idiots still have not learned
06:31 AM XXCoder: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-mWK_kcZMs
06:32 AM miss0r2: "drinkable"
06:33 AM SpeedEvil: "Will not kill you" = drinkable in many peoples point of view.
06:34 AM XXCoder: better than umm prino? forgot how its spelled, made at prison
06:34 AM miss0r2: jainhouse toilet wine :D
06:34 AM miss0r2: jailhouse*

07:42 AM flyback: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8vTD4KPtB4
07:43 AM Elmo40: XXCoder, communication is still measured in baud. the octoPi needs to know what baud rate my 3D printer board is in order to properly communicate. but it is way the hell up there. 25,000.
07:43 AM XXCoder: I know, was just funnying
07:43 AM flyback: heh
07:44 AM flyback: new one I didn't see

08:11 AM Javabean: cannuckdians know better than to give children coffee like that!!... that said, i miss poutine
08:35 AM Loetmichel: *PHEW*... getting old... call from the copier supplier.. "could you plese go to the printer/copier and ress a few buttons so i chan check the communications?"... $me runs diagonally across the 10ksqft company floor, up the stairs, diagonnaly back, presses a few buttons, runs back down... sitting back at the desk, totally winded... :-(
08:50 AM jymmmm: Um, if comms was good, wouldn't he just be able to see that remotely???
09:20 AM Loetmichel: Jymmm: i think he wanted to know if that thing is still living
09:20 AM Loetmichel: we dont use it much
09:21 AM Loetmichel: and it seems to only talp to the rental company inf copied or toner empty
09:22 AM Loetmichel: so he asked me to initiate a "check comms" on the copier, presumably to see if it still works
09:22 AM Loetmichel: s/talp/talk
11:46 AM jymmmm: Loetmichel: gotcha
