12:00 AM _unreal_: wow 1am
12:05 AM _unreal_: just finished fucking with my daughters little cnc machine
12:05 AM _unreal_: FINALLY got the Z system put together
01:35 AM Loetmichel: *giggle* the coworker is easy to excite... just drove onto the premises, turned right around the house corner, straighened the car up, stopped. Coworker: *two thumbs up* $me: "what?" he:" you are standing EXACTLY in the parking bay lines!" (we measured, within 1/2" tolerance to the lines on all sides ;)
01:35 AM Loetmichel: mornin' btw.
01:39 AM Deejay: moin
01:51 AM SpeedEvil: Loetmichel: time to get excited if you need to break out the blue to properly measure.
02:48 AM Loetmichel: *AAAAHHHH* Just modifying the electronoics of an HP laserprinter... suddenly: "error 57.02" (fan error) searched for an hour where i made the error, found nothing. Frustrated, moved the printer a bit: error gone... cause of the problem: http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=17598&g2_imageViewsIndex=1 ... THATS not something i considered in my search for the fault ;)
04:20 AM XXCoder: jthornton: remind me, what book? the drawing one?
04:58 AM Tom_L: morning
04:59 AM XXCoder: hey
05:00 AM Tom_L: 55°F, Hi 68
05:00 AM Tom_L: summer is back
05:00 AM XXCoder: you can keep it
05:01 AM jthornton: yea
05:01 AM jthornton: morning
05:01 AM XXCoder: nice glad you like it
05:32 AM XXCoder: jthornton: psu I order finally arrived so I tested the micro belt sander
05:33 AM XXCoder: its not super amazing but very effective
05:33 AM XXCoder: havent tested with metal
05:33 AM jthornton: cool
05:34 AM XXCoder: its pretty incicably small lol
05:34 AM XXCoder: you cant make it for that price in alum parts alone
05:35 AM XXCoder: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000110593007.html this one
05:36 AM XXCoder: I bought this https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32972219743.html to go with it, works.
05:45 AM miss0r|office: is that for getting that very perfect tip when sharpening pensils? :P
05:47 AM miss0r|office: what kind of power would you expect from a motor like that?
05:55 AM XXCoder: not a lot
05:55 AM XXCoder: havent tested metal but it does work on oak just fine
05:55 AM XXCoder: not rapid
06:02 AM syyl: i would had loved something like that when I was still building tabletop miniatures
06:09 AM SpeedEvil: Probably pretty quiet.
06:10 AM SpeedEvil: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Silverline-Silverstorm-260W-Power-File-Belt-Sander-Electric-Sanding-Tool/232072324592 are also pretty handy
06:10 AM SpeedEvil: (this class of tool, not this partiuclar one)
06:16 AM XXCoder: that did look nice but maybe later
06:31 AM jymmmm: Good morning, just waiting for the blackout to begin... YAY
06:31 AM XXCoder: hibye
06:32 AM jymmmm: lmao
06:32 AM jymmmm: XXCoder: where ya goin?
06:32 AM XXCoder: nah was worried you might leave bnefore I could say bye heh
06:33 AM jymmmm: lol, well, thank you for that, but just takes me lazily about 10 minutes to get the generator running and back online
06:34 AM jymmmm: It's already 0430, was expecting 0400, they dont actually saw when or for how long
06:34 AM jymmmm: say*
06:35 AM jymmmm: How scalpels are made... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0QKSjCYUoa8
06:36 AM XXCoder: pretty low resolution
06:36 AM XXCoder: cool video
06:37 AM jymmmm: I thought it was intersting, I just got some scalpels in yesterday
06:40 AM XXCoder: pretty cool
06:41 AM jymmmm: I kinda cringed a bit when they were inspecting the blades
06:41 AM jymmmm: These things are sharp as hell
06:42 AM XXCoder: theyre using finger condoms
06:42 AM jymmmm: And I don't understand how gamma radiation is able to penitrate aluminum foil wrapper for sterilization
06:42 AM jymmmm: XXCoder: Yeah, but still
06:43 AM XXCoder: I think that alum just isnt thick enough
06:43 AM XXCoder: gamma is pretty damn powerful
06:43 AM XXCoder: and its 6 hours
06:44 AM jymmmm: ok, fair enough. The ones I got also say sterlized by gamma radiation
06:45 AM jymmmm: They actually have a good feel in the hand
06:45 AM XXCoder: I wonder if there was ever a murder story where worker murders another by gamma rad exposure area
06:46 AM jymmmm: Is that like "pull my finger" but point the gamma gun at everyone instead? lol
06:47 AM XXCoder: lol
06:47 AM jymmmm: Interesting enough they are carbon blades instead of SS
06:48 AM jymmmm: but "single use only"
06:48 AM XXCoder: cheaper I guess?
06:48 AM XXCoder: why did you need one anyway
06:48 AM jymmmm: sharper I think
06:50 AM jymmmm: building new first aid kits, and better to have and not need, than need and not have
06:51 AM jymmmm: Also have RATS tornequetes and isralia bandages coming
06:51 AM XXCoder: does blades have expire?
06:51 AM jymmmm: Actually they do (I thought was weird) but 2023 in this case
06:52 AM jymmmm: It's stamped on each individual packet along with lot number
07:00 AM Tom_L: planning on surgery in the dark?
07:01 AM XXCoder: sunlight still exists ya know ;0
07:01 AM Tom_L: i'll plan my disaster in the daylight then
07:02 AM Tom_L: last one i had was at 1:30AM
07:05 AM XXCoder: heh wish it was plannable
07:14 AM jymmmm: WElllll. I also found some rechargable headlamps. But technically, it gets DARK DARK up here around 430p in the wintertime
07:15 AM jymmmm: Windshiled washer fluid tablets... https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RFMGZDR/
07:19 AM Loetmichel: Jymmm: gamma is basically intense x-rays. they have NO problem with thin alu foil
07:20 AM Loetmichel: expiry date is for sterilisation though, not for sharpness
07:21 AM Loetmichel: as long as they are sealed airtight inside the alu foil pack they wont rust in a millenia or so
07:23 AM jymmmm: Loetmichel: ah on the gamma, most things say "sterile unless package is damaged"
07:23 AM XXCoder: I wonder if expiration is not due to blade or foil, but sealing
07:24 AM XXCoder: after long enough (but well below actual date) it cant be 100% for sure still sealed
07:24 AM Loetmichel: usually those blades are packaged in a metal sputtered plastic pouch these days. and THOSE tend to let bacteria in over the years
07:24 AM Loetmichel: hence the "best before" date
07:24 AM XXCoder: ah I see
07:25 AM Loetmichel: the heat seal isnt as good as it could be
07:26 AM Loetmichel: but its easier to heat seal plastic foil than to weld aluminium foil airtight
07:31 AM Loetmichel: hmm, anyone knows what hose the CNC 6040 watercooled 800W spindle need?
07:32 AM Loetmichel: i can get 6mminner 8mmouter diameter PVC tube and 6mm inner 9mm outer diameter nylon reinforced PVC tube. anyone think the 9mm will fit?
07:34 AM Loetmichel: <- had just to mop up 5 liters of car radiator fluid from the workshop floor... bit pissed with the system now, tube failed on the return line :-(
07:36 AM jymmmm: Loetmichel: clean your shoes else risk slipping
07:38 AM Loetmichel: already did
07:38 AM jymmmm: XXCoder: I'll see if I can post a pic of the packaging later
07:38 AM jymmmm: Loetmichel: :)
08:09 AM Loetmichel: Jymmm: also: that blue (green) stuff tastes less than great... (had to suck on the return line to get the pump primed after refilling)
08:15 AM skunkworks: pcw_mesa: will not run 1khz over night...
09:13 AM net|: https://github.com/tecan/Desktop-Strippers https://i.imgur.com/vZWlDD1.png my new cpu temperature monitor
09:18 AM Loetmichel: nerd
09:18 AM Loetmichel: :-)
09:27 AM net|: in the process of making a gerber viewer online using webassembly
09:28 AM net|: porting gerbvQT
09:31 AM SpeedEvil: :)
09:31 AM SpeedEvil: One of the four people who is not using it for bitcoin mining.
09:32 AM sync: webasm? it's actually pretty useful for things besides buttcoin
11:30 AM Loetmichel: *MUHAHAHA* just pluged together a dismantled Laserprinter for testing. Plgged it in, switched it on... Boss standing aside me: "hey, you noticed that your belly is about 1/2" from the 2kV charge Voltage?" $me looks down... "ah, well, i will notice it when i hit that!" Bosses face: priceless! ;)
12:53 PM CaptHindsight: How to Open a Cardboard Box https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGlyBA8TgjE
01:04 PM jymmmm: CaptHindsight: Ah, Um... HUH?
01:53 PM CaptHindsight: jymmmm: how many have you just thrown away because you couldn't figure it out? This video is a life saver!
02:02 PM jymmmm: CaptHindsight: bunches and bunches
02:04 PM Tom_L: jymmmm, lights out?
02:09 PM jymmmm: Tom_L Surprisingly no. I woke up at 3am expecting power out at 4am, went back to sleep at 6am. Cold and humid right now, not a lot of wind, so might have lucked out (for the moment). I suspect as soon as I get to the store, it'll begin <rolls eyes>
04:09 PM Deejay: gn8
04:10 PM Tom_itx: l8r
04:13 PM jymmmm: Still have power... what's up with that?!
04:13 PM XXCoder: maybe youre in bed dreaming
04:14 PM jymmmm: Doubtful, all my packages were "leaked" on inside the ups truck, guess many other's were too. Smells solventy but petrolium based, almost like break cleaner, but not,
04:15 PM XXCoder: uhoh you slept though wall busting ups and leaked stuff by you
04:16 PM jymmmm: I should taken the green pill
04:16 PM jymmmm: shoulda*
04:16 PM XXCoder: lol
04:58 PM jymmmm: WEll, the ultrasonic cleaner seems to be working (aka not damaged)
05:05 PM roycroft: ups are not the only bad ones
05:05 PM roycroft: fedex are being sued because one of their drivers threw a package over their fence and killed the recipient's dog
05:28 PM _unreal_: evening minions
06:20 PM t4nk_freenode: howdy, professor
06:23 PM _unreal_: you talking to me?
06:23 PM _unreal_: !!! ooooh I have photos to upload
06:35 PM justan0theruser is now known as justanotheruser
07:03 PM jymmmm: YAY, they canceled the blackout for today
07:03 PM Tom_itx: woop woop!
07:05 PM jymmmm: Man, this cleaner is is MUCH bigger than I thought it would be
07:05 PM Tom_itx: quart?
07:05 PM jymmmm: Tom_itx: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0140M8H9E/
07:05 PM _unreal_: cleaner?
07:06 PM Tom_itx: pay attention!
07:06 PM _unreal_: cleaner?
07:06 PM Tom_itx: that is big
07:06 PM Tom_itx: iirc mine is about a quart
07:06 PM _unreal_: oh ultra sonic
07:07 PM _unreal_: I glanced at it and thought it was a fryer
07:07 PM jymmmm: Tom_itx: I had no clue waht "15L" basket was size wise
07:08 PM Tom_itx: 15 liter
07:08 PM jymmmm: lol
07:08 PM jymmmm: I know what 2L (soda) is
07:08 PM Tom_itx: like 7 2 litre bottles!
07:08 PM Tom_itx: wtf you gonna do with that?
07:09 PM _unreal_: make it clean
07:09 PM _unreal_: :)
07:09 PM jymmmm: I did discover a trick though... fill the tub with water, but if you are going to use solvents (gasoline), place that in a plastic jar along with the parts, and place that in the tub. Then you dont have to contaminate things
07:10 PM jymmmm: Tom_itx: It can clean dental work and CPAP medical equipment, all HSA approved
07:10 PM Tom_itx: i use a jar in mine all the time
07:10 PM jymmmm: glass or plastic?
07:11 PM Tom_itx: i use glass
07:11 PM Tom_itx: but mine is alot smaller than that
07:11 PM jymmmm: in the wire basket or directly in the tub?
07:11 PM Tom_itx: 1qt approx
07:11 PM Tom_itx: tub
07:12 PM jymmmm: Sometimes I have parts that are cumbersome to clean, also can work to clean vape stuff
07:13 PM Tom_itx: i stick my watch band in it sometimes and just hold the watch above the water
07:15 PM jymmmm: nice
07:16 PM Tom_itx: i bet cradek would cringe
07:16 PM Tom_itx is now known as Tom_L
07:24 PM jymmmm: Why?
07:24 PM Tom_L: he fixes watches
07:24 PM jymmmm: YEah, I would think he would use a cleaner a LOT
07:41 PM Tom_L: jymmmm, that one has a heater too.. mine doesn't
07:41 PM Tom_L: how many piezo elements are stuck to the bottom?
07:42 PM jymmmm: Tom_L suppose to be 6
07:42 PM jymmmm: Tom_L I read that the internal plumbing leaks, so I'll take it apart and get some photos when I do
07:43 PM Tom_L: it's just one big tub?
07:46 PM jymmmm: Tom_L https://i.imgur.com/J6uA1HO.jpg
07:48 PM jymmmm: Tom_L over the last few days, I've seen the price go from $162 to $194, but avg about $174
07:50 PM adamj12b: Looking for some suggestions on PID tuning.
07:52 PM adamj12b: I migrated my system from a 1ghz mobo with 5i25/7i77 to a 3ghz dual core mobo and 7i92/7i77 and im having trouble dialing the loops in with this new system.
07:53 PM adamj12b: I am running closed loop DMM servos in torque mode. Previously I had it tuned with a max error of a few tenths on the loop. Andy said I didnt need to take it that far, but i had already done it.
07:54 PM adamj12b: It seems that no matter what I do, I cant get the error down. It follows the encoder/command velocity
08:03 PM net|: updated the stripper repo the sources are actually there now
08:09 PM flyback: WHAT THE FUCK
08:09 PM flyback: THE KING OF RANDOM DIED?!?!?!?
08:15 PM _unreal_: ?
08:20 PM CaptHindsight: 5 gallon bucket is ~20 Liters
08:25 PM _unreal_: CaptHindsight, no way
08:25 PM _unreal_: ...
08:28 PM CaptHindsight: yes way
08:29 PM Tom_L: close
08:30 PM CaptHindsight: 5 gallon bucket https://shop.harborfreight.com/media/catalog/product/cache/1/image/9df78eab33525d08d6e5fb8d27136e95/i/m/image_7527.jpg
08:31 PM CaptHindsight: 20 Liter pail http://www.ncipackaging.com/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2015/11/PP20000A001_LG.jpg
08:31 PM CaptHindsight: see, same size
08:33 PM CaptHindsight: 15 Liters is 5 Liters less than 20 Liters
08:34 PM CaptHindsight: 20 - 5 = 15, 15 + 5 = 20
08:34 PM _unreal_: 2-1=1 1+1=!! 2
08:35 PM CaptHindsight: 15 Liters = 3.96258 gallons
08:36 PM CaptHindsight: Jymmm: sorry I'm still getting over that box video, who knew!
08:38 PM _unreal_: box?
11:30 PM Elmo40: flyback, you are too random
11:30 PM Elmo40: eh?
