12:00 AM _unreal_: kind of
12:04 AM _unreal_: got a little wierd for me
12:04 AM _unreal_: I just remembered I have a scooter motor
12:04 AM XXCoder: lol it just ramps up on weirdness all way there
12:04 AM _unreal_: 24v
12:04 AM _unreal_: 100watt
12:04 AM XXCoder: make a scotter
12:04 AM XXCoder: scooter
12:04 AM _unreal_: I'm looking at driving my at driving my new home cnc machine with servos
12:04 AM _unreal_: I just want to for the hell of it
12:04 AM _unreal_: sure its adding complexity but the results "should" be nice
12:06 AM _unreal_: same motor https://www.ebay.com/itm/100-Watt-24V-replacement-motor-w-Belt-Pulley-3M-f-Razor-E100-E125-scooter-120w/162381740711?_trkparms=aid%3D555018%26algo%3DPL.SIM%26ao%3D2%26asc%3D20160908110712%26meid%3Ddde8c783b01743b7ba424ab66e390fa4%26pid%3D100677%26rk%3D1%26rkt%3D30%26mehot%3Dpp%26sd%3D153627791059%26itm%3D162381740711%26pmt%3D1%26noa%3D0%26pg%3D2386202&_trksid=p2386202.c100677.m4598
12:07 AM XXCoder: well that seem to be plenty of power for moving stuff
12:07 AM _unreal_: ya it use to move me :)
12:08 AM _unreal_: had a little razor scooter
12:08 AM _unreal_: I used it at work because we didnt have enough golf carts
12:08 AM _unreal_: then things changed and I didnt use it much
12:09 AM _unreal_: I tried to teach my daughter to use it but. saddly she's very fiscally in capable of complex body movement
12:09 AM XXCoder: whats wrong with her
12:09 AM _unreal_: nothing
12:09 AM _unreal_: just sucks at things that are fisical
12:09 AM _unreal_: roller skates, bike riding
12:10 AM _unreal_: etc...
12:10 AM XXCoder: trying to figure what fisical is
12:10 AM _unreal_: physical
12:10 AM XXCoder: ahh
12:10 AM _unreal_: its 1am
12:10 AM _unreal_: so ya
12:11 AM _unreal_: I'm thinking maybe this scooter motor is a good idea
12:11 AM _unreal_: no changable brushes though
12:11 AM _unreal_: the motor is sealed
12:14 AM _unreal_: cant find anything on line that really gives an idea of MTF for the motor
12:15 AM _unreal_: ?
02:41 AM Deejay: moin
04:12 AM _abc_: Hello. Official ubuntu based linuxcnc question: If booting into a rescue shell to recover the system after a mishap, one is in an environment which is rather strange for me coming from debian/slackware.
04:13 AM _abc_: The rootfs is mounted ro, I have a shell (init=/bin/sh) and I can fsck root, remount it rw, but most commands are not available. What kind of dark sorcery is it? Is this the ubuntu way of doing things? Is the init=... as above landing me in the initrd shell, but with rootfs mounted as / ?
04:53 AM jthornton: morning
04:54 AM XXCoder: hey
05:54 AM naftilos76: hi, my cnc is a 3018pro from aliexpress and i am trying to understand the machine/working coordinates. It is my understanding that machine coordinates require limit sw which i do not have so i have to work with working coordinates which i can zero out with G92 wherever i wish by sending G92 x0y0z0. But when i send '?' i get the machine coordinates and not the working coordinates. Is there a way for grbl to return working coordinates instead of
05:54 AM naftilos76: machine?
05:54 AM naftilos76: or do i have to calculate the working coordinates?
05:54 AM jthornton: grbl?
05:54 AM naftilos76: yes
05:55 AM naftilos76: 1.1
05:55 AM jthornton: what does that have to do with linuxcnc?
05:56 AM naftilos76: sorry - thought grbl is used by linuxcnc
05:56 AM naftilos76: no worries
05:56 AM jthornton: no
05:56 AM jthornton: just G code
05:57 AM jthornton: you could convert your machine to linuxcnc...
05:58 AM naftilos76: not time for that - building a simple terminal based ruby script to do simple rectangle & cirlce cuts
06:01 AM methods_: ah nice i love reinventing the wheel
06:03 AM jthornton: lol
06:14 AM XXCoder: still playing with freecad jt?
06:17 AM jthornton: haven't in a few days been messing with my drones
06:19 AM XXCoder: :)
06:29 AM Tom_L: morning
06:42 AM jthornton: morning
07:07 AM swarfer1 is now known as swarfer
07:11 AM jthornton: nice I just screwed up my transmitter
07:13 AM XXCoder: doh
07:52 AM methods_: jthornton: yeah those whoops usually have issues holding altitude
07:53 AM methods_: the 75s is whoop right?
07:53 AM jthornton: yea a bit bigger than the tiny whoop
07:54 AM jthornton: need to find a fc with a barometer for my 5"
07:54 AM methods_: yeah those smaller quads are definitely more susceptible to changes
07:57 AM methods_: you have the 7x20 brushed motors in them?
07:58 AM jthornton: the tiny has 7x20 the 75s has 8x20
07:59 AM methods_: yeah brushless respond better ime
08:00 AM jthornton: I was wondering about that
08:00 AM methods_: they'll be more expensive but i think you'll find they respond better
08:01 AM methods_: i think the ur65?
08:01 AM jthornton: I'm not looking for racing or such just slow cruising
08:01 AM methods_: but you can make your own microbee i think is what they're called
08:02 AM methods_: well i think for slow cruising you'd want something bigger than whoop
08:02 AM methods_: unfortunately whoops are kinda fussy
08:02 AM methods_: to fly
08:02 AM jthornton: yea, I'm finding that out
08:03 AM jthornton: http://www.shendrones.com/tweaker
08:03 AM jthornton: I have one of those but want to find a fc with a barometer
08:04 AM methods_: let me find some pics of one i made you should be able to make easy with your tools
08:04 AM jthornton: http://www.shendrones.com/tweaker-5
08:04 AM jthornton: actually I have that one
08:05 AM methods_: https://imgur.com/a/S2NxF
08:06 AM methods_: i mad that frame out of alum and it's very solid but not light
08:06 AM methods_: s/mad/made
08:06 AM jthornton: neat
08:06 AM methods_: .08 alum
08:06 AM jthornton: is that a 4 in 1 esc?
08:06 AM methods_: yes
08:07 AM methods_: it's very responsive
08:07 AM methods_: you can fly it super fast or nice and steady
08:07 AM methods_: but battery life may not be the best with the heavy frame
08:08 AM jthornton: the one I like to fly the most is the Phantom 3
08:08 AM methods_: yeah that's a whole other animal
08:08 AM methods_: if you're looking for that kind of flight in a whoop i don't think you'll find it
08:08 AM methods_: or a small frame
08:09 AM methods_: that kind of stability as far as i know only exists in the larger frames
08:09 AM jthornton: I get about 5 minutes with the 75s, I put a new frame on the tiny whoop and it takes a 550mAh battery now
08:10 AM methods_: yeah with my siverbee i get about 8min or so
08:10 AM jthornton: wow that's long
08:10 AM methods_: i think if i made the same frame from carbonfiber it would get more
08:10 AM methods_: well i made it for 3s
08:11 AM methods_: 2s-4s i think
08:11 AM jthornton: I just got a fatshark scout goggles the other day and I can use my glasses with it
08:11 AM methods_: the 2s only lasts about 5min
08:11 AM methods_: yeah fatshark is the way to go
08:12 AM methods_: i wasted a lot of money on other goggles before i just gave up and bought sharks
08:12 AM methods_: bbl gotta go to brunch
08:12 AM jthornton: that's the only one I know about that allows you to wear glasses
08:12 AM methods_: https://imgur.com/a/iZZBq
08:13 AM methods_: that is my favorite one to fly
08:13 AM methods_: so fast and responsive
08:13 AM jthornton: nice
08:14 AM methods_: 200mm to me is a nice size
08:14 AM methods_: good battery life
08:14 AM methods_: fast and fun
08:14 AM jthornton: https://gnipsel.com/images/weyland-s500/
08:14 AM methods_: i get about 10min on that one
08:14 AM methods_: oh yeah that's a big boy
08:15 AM jthornton: https://gnipsel.com/images/tweaker-5/
08:15 AM methods_: that weyland doesn't fly as good as the phantom?
08:15 AM jthornton: hmm I don't have any photos of the Tarot 680...
08:16 AM jthornton: the phantom is way better
08:16 AM methods_: wow
08:16 AM jthornton: I just got the phantom a couple of months ago
08:16 AM methods_: just more stable?
08:16 AM jthornton: the phantom stays where you put it
08:16 AM methods_: yeah that's all in the FC
08:17 AM methods_: and gps
08:17 AM jthornton: and I fly it with ipad air 2
08:17 AM jthornton: yea
08:17 AM jthornton: looking for a mavic
08:17 AM jthornton: something a bit smaller than the phantom
08:17 AM methods_: people seem to love the mavics
08:17 AM methods_: ok i gotta go for real wife is givin me dirty looks
08:18 AM jthornton: a buddy has one and I like the sensors they have and if you unlock the fc you don't have the nags
08:49 AM jymmmm: Good morning folks :)
09:08 AM elmo40: jthornton, mornin'
09:08 AM elmo40: should be +2C today. maybe +6 on Monday.
09:09 AM elmo40: help melt the ice in my eaves...

12:13 PM JewZeus is now known as Choscura
12:33 PM perry_j1987: CaptHindsight does it still roll over if you put it in water at that scale :P
01:43 PM CaptHindsight: their tech description leaves out the inverse microscope
01:43 PM CaptHindsight: guess they could not patent that

03:47 PM jymmmm: Deejay: gn9
03:58 PM Tom_L: jymmmm still got power?
04:22 PM jymmmm: Tom_L Yeah, you?
04:44 PM _unreal_: jymmmm, feels like heman.. I HAVE THE POWER!!!!!
04:47 PM Tom_L: nice day here
04:47 PM jymmmm: _unreal_: I do too, one way or another at least.
04:47 PM jymmmm: Tom_L Yeah here too, in a tshirt outside
04:47 PM Tom_L: not quite but close
04:48 PM jymmmm: IT'll be cooling off soon, then I'll be going "Damn I need a jasket" :)
04:48 PM jymmmm: jacket*
04:54 PM _unreal_: TODAY IS stupid cold out
04:54 PM _unreal_: like WTF cold
04:54 PM _unreal_: 61 all day
04:54 PM _unreal_: AND today was the day for my daughters pirate trip
04:55 PM _unreal_: way to cold
04:55 PM Tom_L: 60°F currently
04:55 PM _unreal_: though norally 80s 90s here
05:04 PM _unreal_: There finally got the adjusted part for my daughters cnc machine built
05:04 PM _unreal_: FINALLY
05:04 PM _unreal_: next trick, try and get it installed
05:05 PM XXCoder: looks like near end of this week will be freezing nights
06:35 PM _unreal_: There My new cnc machine for home I'm building now has a pulse
06:35 PM _unreal_: I just got all of the holes to mount the major Y rails done and the Y extrusion mounted
06:37 PM _unreal_: Now that, that is done I can order rails
06:38 PM _unreal_: any suggestions on square rails that are good quality but cheap? and they need to be wide. my rail has a 5/16ths gap at all openings
06:38 PM _unreal_: so I assume 15mm or so?'
06:44 PM _unreal_: hello?
06:52 PM _unreal_: numb numb numb numb.... found a micro nip bottle of kahlua
06:52 PM _unreal_: ok so I just made offers for two servo motors of the "same ish" make model as the one I have
06:53 PM _unreal_: if I get those motors. then for sure SCREW IT I'm making this new cnc machine servo driven
09:50 PM _unreal_: no one around sigh
09:51 PM XXCoder: nope youre alone. sorry
09:51 PM SpeedEvil: yeah
09:51 PM _unreal_: so I said fuck it just purchased a second DC servo brushed from ebay $20
09:52 PM _unreal_: identical to the one I have
09:52 PM _unreal_: well 95%
09:52 PM _unreal_: the encoder cap is different
09:52 PM SpeedEvil: By 'square rails' do you mean welded square tubing, or ground and scraped cast iron.
09:52 PM _unreal_: huh?
09:52 PM _unreal_: https://www.robotdigg.com/product/347/Custom-length-GCr15-MGN9,-MGN12-or-MGN15-Linear-Rail-n-Carriage?gclid=Cj0KCQiA2b7uBRDsARIsAEE9XpGUJ_iee_YpUBWBnYHKxIieCQsmp4W7VyKJTbAjqTXbo3JY3hqhLS8aAkzeEALw_wcB
09:52 PM XXCoder: or MGN
09:52 PM XXCoder: mgn yep
09:53 PM SpeedEvil: More the latter then.
09:53 PM _unreal_: I need to take a picture, status photo
09:53 PM _unreal_: but I just got the extrusion mounted
09:53 PM _unreal_: so now I have extrusion mounted to my main body board
09:54 PM _unreal_: I think this new build will work out ok
09:55 PM _unreal_: I am torn though if I should put a bar across the back or if I should dip the belt low so I could fit larger material into the work bed?
09:55 PM _unreal_: err longer
09:56 PM _unreal_: This is the current setup https://drive.google.com/open?id=1adQweaGjSkkFvFvusslkvgVxxnET7f9l
09:57 PM _unreal_: should I put bars across and box in the work area?
09:57 PM _unreal_: or leave it open
09:57 PM _unreal_: I just wonder about flex
09:58 PM _unreal_: I've already tapped the ends of the base extrusion. now I just need to start getting liner rails
09:58 PM _unreal_: and decide on threaded rod or ball screw
09:59 PM _unreal_: I'm thinking threaded rod for Z
09:59 PM _unreal_: just so I dont have to worry about drop
10:03 PM _unreal_: I dont think flex is going to be an issue
10:03 PM _unreal_: sigh
