04:44 AM XXCoder: working with pain is so full of super awesomeness
04:54 AM jthornton: morning
04:55 AM XXCoder: yo
05:13 AM Tom_L: morning
05:13 AM XXCoder: yo^2
05:31 AM jthornton: at least kdenlive will render a usable video
05:51 AM nubcake is now known as nubcake_
05:51 AM nubcake_ is now known as nubcake
06:24 AM _unreal_: XXCoder, "YAWN.... ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch ouch "
06:24 AM _unreal_: hehe
06:29 AM XXCoder: bleh
07:04 AM jthornton: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zs0Rmjfn7X4
07:05 AM XXCoder: lot more yellow
07:05 AM jthornton: yea, messing with the color correction
07:06 AM XXCoder: oh :)
07:14 AM jthornton: only 0.2GB behind on data today, I must have left a web page open the other day that was refreshing every few seconds
07:14 AM XXCoder: man I hate how sites assume unlimited data
07:14 AM XXCoder: or assume its fine to constantly download
07:15 AM XXCoder: imange if 10,000 worker company, all using some site or other doing same thibng'
07:15 AM XXCoder: bandwidth would be insane
07:43 AM Elmo40: flyback, thanks. i think i'll give that a shot with my unused arduino. have it use the signal to keep a log of when the power went out.
07:58 AM Elmo40: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/EHjBzP2UUAATVjb.jpg
12:35 PM methods_: you see this jthornton

12:44 PM CaptHindsight: how to remove sod www.gifs.com/gif/nx6qMp
12:45 PM CaptHindsight: Schmitz poured some gasoline into the hole, then started tossing matches into it. Nothing happened at first. But after a couple of false starts:
12:49 PM Loetmichel: *ffffumPPPPP*
12:49 PM Loetmichel: :-)
12:50 PM Loetmichel: CaptHindsight: oh i know that sound all to well ;)
12:51 PM Loetmichel: gets you thinking how many tunnesl that gopher did dig though ;)
12:51 PM Loetmichel: or wahtever made that home in the first place
12:57 PM gregcnc: had to be substantial volume under there
12:58 PM Loetmichel: yes, thats what i meant
12:59 PM gregcnc: https://imgur.com/gallery/JCc75q9
12:59 PM Loetmichel: u would wager: at least a few 100 liters to have THAT much soil moving with petrol vapor
01:00 PM Tom_L: that'll rattle yer dentures
01:00 PM gregcnc: i haven't seen this one https://imgur.com/gallery/Eo3AltY
01:01 PM Tom_L: well the sign did say don't litter....
01:09 PM SpeedEvil: methods_: 2020 is a fun year for SpaceX. If all goes precisely to plan, in its most optimistic form, they may have a global broadband network bringing in revenue and a new crew carrying vehicle more capable than saturn V at a cost of several million a launch.
01:10 PM drdoc: jymmmm: sorry, had a minor plumbing thing yesterday
01:13 PM drdoc: I did find the config files in this thread, but the link to the schematics is dead:
01:13 PM drdoc: https://forum.shapeoko.com/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2344
01:27 PM jymmmm: drdoc: no worries
01:31 PM drdoc: I did find somebody's interpretation of Peters' DRV8825 breakout
01:31 PM drdoc: https://a4.pbase.com/o9/32/38432/1/158460441.kCa0LUrU.dr8825BOARDFRONTNew.JPG
01:32 PM drdoc: but in a later forum post he mentions that "maybe it was a bad solder connection" but that design caused the drivers to overheat and shut down
01:33 PM drdoc: so I'm in the middle of comparing his wiring with the Pololu schematics
01:34 PM drdoc: I'd be very surprised to find that nobody else would rather use cheap 2A drivers in their LCNC setup
01:35 PM drdoc: if I can come up with a working system, a milled PCB should be a snap
01:55 PM methods_: SpeedEvil: yeah and jthornton might finally have some internetz
01:59 PM drdoc: flyback: is that related to the Kryoflux system?
02:00 PM drdoc: Tom_L: I charge $5-50 per floppy to transcribe old media, depending on the format
02:01 PM drdoc: I just wrote out a set of boot & program floppies for a guy who had bought a Heathkit Z80 with no media
02:02 PM drdoc: $4/ea for the 5.25" disks and $10 to download images and write them
02:02 PM drdoc: $10/ea
02:03 PM drdoc: A few years ago, I split $15K with a friend in North Carolina for transcribing a 9-track tape backup
02:03 PM drdoc: it had bookkeeping records and was evidence in an inheritance dispute
02:06 PM drdoc: jymmmm: my Google Fu is strong today.
02:06 PM drdoc: https://a4.pbase.com/o9/32/38432/1/162860550.BLvtzjlv.md4h.png
03:59 PM drdoc: Huh.
03:59 PM drdoc: PTC (Creo) is "acquiring" Onshape
04:02 PM CaptHindsight: Loetmichel: full video https://twitter.com/EvanSandhoefner/status/1186023729685360640
04:19 PM Deejay: gn8
04:45 PM flyback: drdoc, it's like a kyroflux
04:45 PM flyback: there's 2 of them
04:46 PM flyback: I chose the easier and cheaper one the flux engine
04:46 PM flyback: you order a off the shelf $10 cypress psoc5 board and slide on a floppy connector and solder
04:46 PM flyback: no other parts
04:47 PM flyback: this one is way more adv anced but needs a $50 arduino arm board plus you have to make a complex shield pcb and do a lot of soldering
04:47 PM flyback: he does allow for direct control of the floppy heads instead of the drive doing it
04:47 PM flyback: so you can microstep and also handle disks that the hub has become unglued
04:47 PM flyback: gluing them back is easy but the alignment will never be right
04:48 PM flyback: oh sorry forgot the link for the 2nd one
04:48 PM flyback: https://github.com/imqqmi/FloppyControl

05:35 PM jymmmm: YAY BLACKOUT!!!!!
05:35 PM skunkworks: jymmmm: how much time do you have?
05:36 PM jymmmm: skunkworks: Started 20 minutes ago
05:36 PM jymmmm: Estimated duration: 48 hours
05:37 PM skunkworks: yech
05:38 PM skunkworks: can you last that long?
05:40 PM jymmmm: skunkworks: I shut down the generator when sleeping, so runs apx 18 hours non-stop. But right now I can run for about 14 days like that currently
05:42 PM jymmmm: skunkworks: And can call the propane company for a refill if need be after that.
05:43 PM SpeedEvil: I do wonder if anyones computed deaths due to stuff directly related to powercuts yet.
05:43 PM jymmmm: skunkworks: And I have seven 5gal bbq tanks on top of all that.
05:44 PM jymmmm: SpeedEvil: With all of PG&E's fuckups, especially last year, they are keeping VERY close watch on them.
05:47 PM skunkworks: how many gallons of propane do you have?
05:47 PM SpeedEvil: I wonder if air quality is affected down or up during blackouts.
05:51 PM _unreal_: sup
05:52 PM Tom_itx: skunkworks, has to be
05:53 PM Tom_itx is now known as Tom_L
05:53 PM _unreal_: they dont have a gas services really in south florida :(
05:53 PM _unreal_: most homes have ELEC stoves :(
05:53 PM _unreal_: SUCKS
05:53 PM _unreal_: HATE elec stove
05:54 PM Tom_L: makes it harder to roast marshmallows yes
05:55 PM _unreal_: heh
05:55 PM _unreal_: there finshing the last of that job I started milling last night
06:01 PM jthornton: I have 900 gallons of propane
06:03 PM _unreal_: good lord
06:04 PM _unreal_: I take it you have propane heating?
06:04 PM jymmmm: skunkworks: 250 gal tank + seven 5 gal bbq tanks = so 285 gallons?
06:05 PM jymmmm: jthornton: Why do you have two tanks? They suck at refilling?
06:05 PM _unreal_: I really should check edit and adjust the ramping. I've never touched it. its all stock what ever that defaults to
06:06 PM _unreal_: XXCoder, you live?
06:06 PM _unreal_: XXCoder, and anyone that could help :) heh. after this mill job finishes I'm going to take a squick shower then I'm ready to attack that uefi computer and try to get lcnc installed on it
06:06 PM jymmmm: XXCoder: ... it be cool if you were dead... ZombieCNC
06:07 PM jthornton: 4 tanks of various sizes
06:07 PM jthornton: refilling what?
06:08 PM jymmmm: jthornton: Are they all 4 fed into a "single" system?
06:08 PM jymmmm: jthornton: I mean is your propane compant flaky (schedule wise) at refilling ?
06:08 PM jthornton: 2 are 100lb cylinders I used to use for boiling beer and crawfish
06:09 PM jthornton: the two big tanks are connected together and the come when I call
06:09 PM jymmmm: ah ok
06:09 PM jthornton: and they
06:11 PM jthornton: I only have one tank at a time connected to the house
06:35 PM jymmmm: jthornton: Just curious... Why 2x 350/gal tanks?
06:35 PM jymmmm: BTW propane right now is $2.20/gal here
06:36 PM Tom_L: is that good or bad?
06:36 PM Tom_L: do they exploit the outtages?
06:37 PM jymmmm: IT was $1.90/gal 1.5 months ago - price always goes up in fall/winter
06:41 PM CaptHindsight: jymmmm: what have you temps been day/night there?
06:42 PM CaptHindsight: pulleed the read diff last night from the Land Cruiser with 320K miles, looks almost brand new except for some varnish
06:47 PM CaptHindsight: heh, pulled the rear diff
06:47 PM jymmmm: CaptHindsight: the last 24hr, 51/78
06:47 PM CaptHindsight: not bad
06:54 PM jymmmm: CaptHindsight: was low 40's a few days ago
06:54 PM CaptHindsight: my kinda weather, been 60's-30's lately
06:55 PM jymmmm: ah ok
06:56 PM jymmmm: It'll be snow soon enough
07:08 PM CaptHindsight: jymmmm: what is everyone doing during the work days there without power?
07:54 PM jymmmm: CaptHindsight: There's not much up here in that respect, and I haven't been in the city (25 miles away) during a blackout to see
07:54 PM flyback: they killed a guy already
07:54 PM flyback: life support ran out
09:08 PM _unreal_: My daughter is really starting to get exicted now for the little cnc machine
09:08 PM _unreal_: now that it looks like something
09:08 PM _unreal_: and all parts are moving at least
10:48 PM Elmo40: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kzvF9pJfRyE
10:49 PM Elmo40: flyback, seriously?
11:03 PM ziper: http://static.auctionservices.com/images/110651252/IMG_1322_large.jpg
11:03 PM ziper: at auction, how much would be too much?
11:14 PM _unreal_: ziper, in what condition
11:14 PM _unreal_: working. few issues no issues?
11:16 PM _unreal_: ziper, with out knowing what the sizes are its hard to say
11:16 PM _unreal_: used working no known issues? I'd start at 2k
11:16 PM _unreal_: I'd expect to pay 4k
11:17 PM _unreal_: if you can get that for less then 2k thats a GIVE AWAY
11:22 PM ziper: and not working?
11:22 PM ziper: whats it worth in parts, 500?
11:22 PM ziper: _unreal_, its in ft lauderdade if you want to bid on it
11:22 PM SpeedEvil is now known as Guest78642
11:31 PM _unreal_: heh
11:31 PM _unreal_: bid on it... I dont even know where it is
11:31 PM _unreal_: thouhg I work in fort lauder dale
11:31 PM _unreal_: or the "bidding" locatin
11:32 PM _unreal_: I could be worng but it looks like it was hand build/designed
11:34 PM _unreal_: also looks like it has a lot of play in it
11:34 PM _unreal_: I only see 4 bearings per side on the Y axis
11:34 PM _unreal_: two to the top two to the bottom
11:34 PM _unreal_: per side of the Y axis
11:34 PM _unreal_: there might be some mid one's but I dought it
11:34 PM _unreal_: doubt
11:35 PM _unreal_: ziper, if you have a link to its location and there is more detail I can give you a better idea
11:35 PM _unreal_: on price etc....
11:36 PM _unreal_: thats only one photo and no details
11:36 PM _unreal_: ziper, my opinion that machine is only good for light duty work....
11:36 PM _unreal_: soft materials "WOOD"
11:39 PM ziper: they basically have no information on it
11:39 PM _unreal_: got a link
11:39 PM ziper: but I agree, wood and foam
11:39 PM ziper: http://www.stamplerauctions.com/auction/358128/woodworking-shop/
11:39 PM _unreal_: I'm not interested in it BTW I'm building a new one infact I just gave the go ahead to the company builing my to spend $300 on parts
11:41 PM _unreal_: stampler auctions never heard of... 954 though thats fort lauderdale
11:41 PM _unreal_: Are they just selling everything?
11:44 PM _unreal_: hehe the location is like 10min from where I work
11:45 PM _unreal_: oh I wonder if that is like an estate sale or something
11:45 PM _unreal_: I'm assuming the owner went out of business or died or something
11:46 PM _unreal_: thats a lot of hardware and it looks like it has been sitting idle for some time
11:47 PM _unreal_: every tool looks like it has IDLE dust on it. as in has not been touched for some time
11:49 PM _unreal_: well not going to respond going to bed
11:50 PM infornography: Sleep is for the weak
11:50 PM Elmo40: _unreal_, you should go!
11:50 PM Elmo40: my view as well!
11:51 PM _unreal_: Elmo40, will be interesting
11:51 PM _unreal_: going to give my boss the final vesrion of his lables
11:51 PM _unreal_: if he likes it I'll start milling a number of them
11:52 PM Elmo40: i bet there are things there that you could use. personally.
11:52 PM Elmo40: even that extrusion could be repurposed
11:52 PM _unreal_: no space
11:52 PM _unreal_: ya I was thinking that but thats an estate sale from the looks of it
11:52 PM _unreal_: I'll be working regardless
11:53 PM _unreal_: I would expect a lot of that stuff is going to sell for peanuts
11:53 PM _unreal_: I'm going to assume the cnc is likely in working order just "abandoned"
11:54 PM _unreal_: showed my father the final plate I made today. his eyes popped
11:54 PM _unreal_: heh
11:55 PM _unreal_: he was like and you made that with that hand made thingy
11:55 PM _unreal_: ok off to bed
