12:56 AM _unreal_: win10 realtime is the special driver from artsoft "mach3-4" etc..
01:00 AM _unreal_: its just installing mach3 etc... and it installs a " real time " driver to take over windows totally when running mach3
01:00 AM XXCoder: geez
01:00 AM XXCoder: i cant picture how sensive to versioning that is
01:00 AM _unreal_: ? could be I dont know
01:00 AM _unreal_: well almost 2am I'm going to bed
01:00 AM XXCoder: later
01:00 AM _unreal_: just finished putting that new putter together
01:00 AM _unreal_: soo SOOOO many damn screws
01:00 AM _unreal_: all in one monitor/computer envy23
01:00 AM _unreal_: when I get a new touch screen bezel for it I'm going to use it as my cnc controller
01:03 AM XXCoder: nice
01:37 AM XXCoder: welcvome back ms. pink
01:38 AM pink_vampire: Awww,
01:38 AM pink_vampire: hi XXCoder
01:38 AM XXCoder: man im so bored
01:38 AM pink_vampire: why?
01:39 AM pink_vampire: I'm trying to design a cnc machine
01:42 AM XXCoder: yeah? mpcnc isnt it
01:45 AM pink_vampire: No, the MPCNC become trash after I saw how Ryan from V1 Engineering. react to the improvement that TOM did.
01:45 AM pink_vampire: so I'm building my own
01:46 AM XXCoder: cool :) using alum parts or?
01:46 AM XXCoder: oh yeah lemme a second
01:46 AM pink_vampire: no idea yet
01:46 AM pink_vampire: probably mix
01:46 AM XXCoder: i engraved it couple years ago, but painted yeserday. https://imgur.com/a/EzrABLN
01:47 AM XXCoder: looks good
01:47 AM pink_vampire: WOW that is look soo nice!!
01:47 AM XXCoder: yeah
01:51 AM XXCoder: this is kind of stuff I want to make, art and stuff
01:51 AM XXCoder: too bad cnc is down bleh
01:51 AM pink_vampire: just power on
01:52 AM XXCoder: no place to put cnc and its computer :)
01:53 AM pink_vampire: change it to grbl
01:53 AM pink_vampire: so you don't need a computer for it
01:54 AM XXCoder: no, literally no room for machine itself
04:28 AM XXCoder: :(
04:28 AM XXCoder: actor for Nog just died/
04:28 AM XXCoder: Aron Eisenberg
04:29 AM pink_vampire: what is the best coupler from 5mm to 8mm?
04:44 AM Loetmichel: XXCoder: sad
04:44 AM XXCoder: yeah
04:44 AM Loetmichel: best wishes to his family
04:44 AM Loetmichel: freshly married, too IIRC
04:45 AM Loetmichel: pink_vampire: depends on what you want to do with it
04:45 AM Loetmichel: i would always use "claw" type couplings for steppers and stuff, they need a second bearing on the spindle though
05:03 AM pink_vampire: loLoetmichel: I need it for a cnc that I'm building right now, and I'm not sure what is the best one to use, there is the aluminum flex type, spider, and ridged
05:24 AM Tom_L: morning
05:25 AM Tom_L: pink, spider.
05:25 AM pink_vampire: this is what I'm also thinking
05:26 AM pink_vampire: but I'm going to use the T8 screw..
05:26 AM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/Mill_Steel/Couplers.jpg
05:26 AM Tom_L: left one
05:26 AM pink_vampire: so a low price point is my goal here
05:30 AM pink_vampire: I have a spider type on my milling machine
05:49 AM jthornton: morning
05:50 AM XXCoder: hey
06:24 AM miss0r: 'ello
06:25 AM jthornton: hay
06:25 AM XXCoder: horse
06:31 AM miss0r: XXCoder: That guy with the reamer was nuts :D
06:31 AM XXCoder: yeah?
06:31 AM XXCoder: $10 per gram? ;)
06:32 AM miss0r: not *that* crazy.. but close to it
06:32 AM XXCoder: geez
06:32 AM miss0r: I mean; reamers that are just piled on top of eachother, some are rusted and the majority of them has small dings in the flutes from the storage and handling
06:32 AM miss0r: and he somehow feel like he need to tell me how much they were from new.. and that that should effect the price lol
06:33 AM miss0r: it *should* on some level
06:33 AM XXCoder: make a new price claim: having hard time selling em
06:33 AM miss0r: I told him to contact me when(if) noone else wants to pay out big buck for it
06:36 AM XXCoder: he will probably cut 10 bucks off it
06:37 AM miss0r: per gram, hopefully
06:37 AM XXCoder: lol yeah
06:38 AM miss0r: meh.. well, it might get more for it, if he sells one item per buyer over time - when people need it
06:38 AM miss0r: I always go into this sort of deal like "if I get to use two of the more expensive items, I will break even"
07:54 AM _unreal_: nothing like waking up because you have to PISS like crazy
08:17 AM miss0r: _unreal_: Nothing like waking up finding out you *had* to piss like crazy
08:19 AM _unreal_: its been at least 40 years since that last happend
08:30 AM miss0r: I have another version: nothing like waking up finding out your kid *had* to piss like crazy, while you share the bed...
08:47 AM _unreal_: *hum
10:40 AM pink_vampire: hi
10:50 AM _unreal_: why me....
10:50 AM jthornton: it's your turn
10:50 AM _unreal_: I use to be a nurse.
10:50 AM _unreal_: nurse med tech.....
10:51 AM _unreal_: gave it up because I was tired of dealing with postmortem
10:52 AM _unreal_: My next door neighbors are elderly and have been FAM friends for the last 20 years.... and they are having health issues. just had to go help for the past hour becuase her husband was on the floor again
10:53 AM _unreal_: and going back in 30min to go give there grand daughter a rid home so they can go to the hospital. THEN I get to go get my daughter that fun 3.5hr drive
10:53 AM _unreal_: I cant do anything
10:53 AM Tom_L: doesn't sound like anything to me. just not what you had planned
10:54 AM pink_vampire: what is the name for that style of driving? https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0683/0809/products/IMG_8787_608bdc1a-ebf1-4098-bf20-83e949acf97a_1024x1024.jpg
10:54 AM _unreal_: its funny I've held 5 med liscenses and I gave it all up
10:55 AM _unreal_: belt
10:55 AM _unreal_: belt drive?
10:55 AM pink_vampire: I know.. but it is shape like omega
10:55 AM _unreal_: Thats just a tension loop? if there is a name to it I'm not sure
10:56 AM jthornton: yea looks like a normal belt drive to me
10:56 AM pink_vampire: I'm trying to find a parametric design of something like that
10:56 AM Tom_L: just for convenience and maybe tension
10:56 AM Tom_L: you get better drive contact that way
10:56 AM Tom_L: than a triangle
10:56 AM jthornton: that design is to get more teeth to engage the belt
10:56 AM _unreal_: more teeth in the cog
10:57 AM _unreal_: maybe cog and pully?
10:57 AM jthornton: is that a cogsworth cog?
10:57 AM _unreal_: could be
10:58 AM jthornton: yea doesn't look like a spacely sprocket
11:00 AM Tom_L: i wonder if they space the rollers clocer than the pulley radius so it doesn't tend to pull up in one direction or the other under load tension
11:01 AM Tom_L: sp/pulley radius/pulley diameter
11:01 AM _unreal_: I not likely
11:01 AM _unreal_: more for teeth engagement
11:01 AM _unreal_: and tension
11:01 AM Tom_L: i suppose the 2 outer rollers keep it from doing that
11:02 AM Tom_L: i'm talking about the whole frame
11:02 AM Tom_L: it would be minimal but probably could be measured
11:07 AM Tom_L: https://www.bell-everman.com/products/linear-positioning/servobelt-linear-sbl
11:07 AM Tom_L: reminds me of that only without the belt to belt contact
11:09 AM pink_vampire: no cad :(
11:09 AM Tom_L: they used to have an animation somewhere there
11:10 AM Tom_L: https://www.bell-everman.com/products/linear-positioning/servobelt-linear-sbl#video
11:12 AM pink_vampire: so it is almost like rack and pinion?
11:12 AM Tom_L: similar

01:20 PM Deejay: re
01:31 PM miss0r: first parts are ordered for the shaper head :o
01:31 PM miss0r: Now theres no turning back :D
01:32 PM Tom_L: :O
01:33 PM miss0r: I ordered some gears. I had to "move the center of the spindle" for this to work
01:33 PM miss0r: some O2 tool steel & some silver steel for the pivot points ect.
02:01 PM _unreal_: ok I'm back for a few
02:02 PM _unreal_: again fun with the neighbors
02:02 PM _unreal_: and made a stop into harbor freight. go figure I found that hacksaw I've been looking for in the house at harbor freight....
02:02 PM _unreal_: just wierd
02:02 PM _unreal_: wierd how things work out like that
03:05 PM sync: andypugh: ping
03:19 PM _unreal_: pong
04:21 PM XXCoder: fun
04:28 PM Tom_L: skunkworks, gonna have welded seams?
04:28 PM Tom_L: takin shape though
04:28 PM Tom_L: no i see the screws now...
04:39 PM Deejay: gn8
04:53 PM jthornton: looks good skunkworks
05:14 PM jthornton: look skunkworks machined a tape measure from a hunk of aluminum!~
05:15 PM skunkworks: heh
05:15 PM skunkworks: I resemble that...
05:16 PM skunkworks: Have to figure out how I am going to do the doors
05:16 PM jthornton: that will be fun
05:16 PM XXCoder: make it from alum bars and sheet
05:18 PM jthornton: got some radishes planted today and filled up 6 bags with black gold chicken poop compost
05:24 PM XXCoder: cool
05:25 PM jthornton: yea finally got that figured out, it was a mess when I started but I didn't know enough of what to add when it didn't look right
05:31 PM XXCoder: farming hobby?
05:32 PM jthornton: chickens?
05:33 PM XXCoder: lol ok
05:33 PM jthornton: I use the compost in my garden or give it to other friends that have raised bed gardens
05:33 PM jthornton: and it's a clean way to deal with the poop
05:34 PM XXCoder: yeah
05:34 PM XXCoder: dont chicken poop make for really rich ferilizer?
05:34 PM jthornton: and the chickens love to dig in it looking for worms
05:34 PM jthornton: you can't add poop to a garden until you compost it
05:34 PM jthornton: or coffee grounds
06:10 PM XXCoder: yeah it would umm burn plants? forgot specific words
06:28 PM andypugh: sync: Err. yes?
06:36 PM sync: andypugh: a tad too late but that's ok
06:37 PM sync: I was going to inquire about timingchain gear wear
06:37 PM sync: but we took it apart and it looks alright so I'll just slap in a new chain
06:40 PM CaptHindsight: do you have one of those "quieting" nylon covered timing gears?
06:41 PM CaptHindsight: another "feature" that gets brittle and falls off over time
06:42 PM sync: no, just steel
06:42 PM sync: not even a fancy quiet timing chain
06:43 PM andypugh: I like the rubber damped front sprockets.
06:44 PM andypugh: My R1 (and my Holbrook lathe) use the inverted-tooth “silent” chain which runs on gears.
06:45 PM sync: yeah, I spun a bearing in my N57 in the strangest way possible
06:45 PM sync: and it did not even kill the block or crank
06:53 PM andypugh: “strangest way possible” is quite a claim. Did it include a rubber gimp-suit and a slice of cheese?
06:53 PM sync: I had a low oil pressure event at 4500rpm and 100% load
06:54 PM sync: but that seems secondary
06:54 PM sync: the first main bearing moved forward off the crank into the harmonic balancer
06:55 PM andypugh: That was very naughty of it
06:55 PM XXCoder: there is no bottom on strangeness
06:55 PM sync: and the crank as well as the bearing block look ok
06:55 PM sync: I have never spun a bearing at full load and not wiped out the block or crank
07:03 PM _unreal_: sigh
07:03 PM _unreal_: finally got my rails monted on this thing I'm bilding for my daughter. some how the rails are off by a 1mm to all of the carrages... not sure how could be flex in my machine?
07:04 PM _unreal_: but the alignment is perfect..
07:04 PM CaptHindsight: I have had harmonic balancers break and drop bits into the timing chain causing it to seize and then break
07:05 PM _unreal_: for example the spacing on the rails one set is 22mm on the inside. so one end is 22.5mm the other is 22.19mm but the carriage is showing up as 23.55mm
07:05 PM _unreal_: sync, I need to replace my Y bearings
07:06 PM _unreal_: they are starting to CHUNK :)
07:06 PM sync: the harmonic balancer is very far away from the timing chain
07:06 PM _unreal_: harmonic balancer? on what car or mill?
07:06 PM andypugh: _unreal_: Hard to say what is wrong from your description.
07:07 PM _unreal_: andypugh, untill I reboot into windows so I can look at the cad drawing. I think its flex in the machine?
07:07 PM _unreal_: BUT
07:08 PM andypugh: Seems unlikely, but then we have no idea what the machine is.
07:08 PM _unreal_: I went very slow and I dont have 1.5-2mm of play thats for DAMN sure
07:08 PM sync: https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/333506290359861249/622922906174750738/a3d850cf-1b21-4529-a834-f35dd0e16c15.png andypugh
07:08 PM _unreal_: and there is NO play in any of the parts. its possible I F'ed something in the cad file.. click one thing catch an other and not notice
07:10 PM andypugh: sync: So the seal is round a stub of the balancer? Interesting design.
07:10 PM sync: yeah the seal rides on the balancer
07:11 PM sync: https://media.discordapp.net/attachments/333506290359861249/622922906174750738/a3d850cf-1b21-4529-a834-f35dd0e16c15.png

07:12 PM sync: the main is not great, but workable
07:18 PM andypugh: Main looks fine to me.
07:19 PM andypugh: But I normally work with vehicles from 1916 not 2016 so may have different standards
07:22 PM elmo40: sync, you spin a bearing?
07:23 PM sync: yes
07:24 PM sync: yeah the main is probably fine
07:24 PM sync: I'll just slap another main in there and see what the clearances are
07:27 PM elmo40: gotta love german engines...
07:32 PM sync: at 320Mm that's ok
07:59 PM CaptHindsight: https://www.ebay.com/itm/396-402-427-HARMONIC-BALANCER-CHEVROLET-CHEVY-BB-7-BBC-BIG-BLOCK-DAMPER-594-030-/371748315581 timing chain sproket sits right up against the end of the balancer

08:24 PM _unreal_: time for alcohal
08:24 PM elmo40: soo... i can run the printer from the raspi just fine. if i try to run from my win10 workstation it appears to have a data bottleneck every so many lines because it pauses for ~1second every so often. how can that be?
08:24 PM _unreal_: little annoyed
08:24 PM elmo40: _unreal_, indeed it is!
08:25 PM _unreal_: just ONCE I want to get a milled PCB to work
08:25 PM elmo40: just had a nice steak dinner. time for beer
08:25 PM _unreal_: its one of the ONLY things I can never get to work.
08:25 PM elmo40: _unreal_, still using a mill? laser is where it is at ;-)
08:25 PM _unreal_: I have a laser and its not working right... neje thing
08:26 PM _unreal_: small but deos NOT work with any file but one's on its own internal software server
08:26 PM _unreal_: its wierd
08:26 PM elmo40: odd
08:26 PM elmo40: cant grbl it?
08:26 PM _unreal_: if I could ever get 5min of my OWN with out someone needing something I'd take it apart and see if i could reflash it to be a GERBER device
08:26 PM _unreal_: nope
08:27 PM _unreal_: neje has some custom software BS
08:27 PM elmo40: joy
08:27 PM _unreal_: basiclly it dumps a BMP file into its internal memory. 536x536 pixels as I recall
08:27 PM _unreal_: and reads the dots
08:28 PM _unreal_: but when ever I load my own image. it starts great and around half way all of a sudden the image starts drifting WALWAYS
08:28 PM _unreal_: ALWAYS
08:28 PM _unreal_: always always
08:28 PM _unreal_: I dont get it
08:28 PM _unreal_: but any of its OWN in house images from the server that the software control accesses always prints perfect
08:28 PM _unreal_: soy annoying its collecting dust currently
08:29 PM _unreal_: soy=so
08:29 PM _unreal_: and I've been called to the neighbors so many times now its like I cant get away at all.. "old and health issues"
08:29 PM _unreal_: and lucky me I use to be a nurse
08:30 PM XXCoder: stack overflow?
08:30 PM XXCoder: drafting is so strange
08:31 PM _unreal_: ?
08:31 PM _unreal_: random what are you talking about XXCoder
08:31 PM Tom_L: and you?
08:32 PM XXCoder: your laser machine
08:32 PM _unreal_: drafting is so strange? not sure what your talking about
08:32 PM _unreal_: XXCoder, you load a bmp and it just runs on its own
08:32 PM XXCoder: all of a sudden the image starts drifting WALWAYS
08:32 PM XXCoder: thats what you said?
08:33 PM _unreal_: BW 8bit bmp 500 something by 500 pixels and it just starts printing. you can even unplug it from the computer once it starts. it runs on its own.
08:33 PM XXCoder: made me wonder if it was picture filesize and stuff causing crap firmware to break
08:33 PM _unreal_: does not matter the file size
08:33 PM XXCoder: ok guess its not that
08:34 PM _unreal_: and its supposed to convert any file into a usable image.
08:34 PM _unreal_: does all of the conversions etc..
08:34 PM XXCoder: try it resize it to smaller size and convert
08:34 PM XXCoder: see if it handles it better
08:34 PM _unreal_: I've tried all of that
08:35 PM XXCoder: drat. just crap firmware lol any way to update if theres updates of any kind?
08:35 PM _unreal_: already did
08:35 PM _unreal_: but its an older model
08:37 PM XXCoder: wonder if you can remove crap hw and put in your own
08:37 PM XXCoder: and control it with lcnc
08:38 PM _unreal_: yes
08:39 PM _unreal_: there are unpopulated headers as well on the board
08:39 PM _unreal_: cant see the board well though I'd need to open the back
08:39 PM _unreal_: also cant even see any electronics they are all on the other side of the board
08:39 PM XXCoder: cool :)
09:43 PM _unreal_: FINALLY found my win10 install disk. getting this bleeping desktop computer fixed so I can dual boot it with linux
09:43 PM XXCoder: yay
09:45 PM _unreal_: I HATE having to reboot into win on this laptop
09:45 PM _unreal_: so annoying
09:47 PM _unreal_: I'm in shock I've gone more then 15min with out someone needing me
09:51 PM _unreal_: There win is now installing
09:52 PM _unreal_: will be nice to have a win10 system that has a DECENT GPU not the stupid ass intel GPU that is on this laptop
09:52 PM _unreal_: time for more alcohol
10:00 PM _unreal_: yall got to stop being so quiet, I'm drowning in my own thoughts :)
10:01 PM XXCoder: lol well
10:01 PM _unreal_: heh
10:01 PM _unreal_: sigh I have so much updating I'm going to have to do to this desktop
11:24 PM elmo40: updating from fresh install? Say it ain't so!
11:24 PM elmo40: :-P
11:25 PM elmo40: win10, to boot. there are about 3,500 updates since it came out.
11:25 PM XXCoder: gold to all updated is going to be fun lol
11:26 PM elmo40: and i don't think they call them Service Packs anymore. there have been a few updates that change the revision number so I assume that is a 'SP'
11:26 PM XXCoder: thankfully some updates overwrite other so sometimes they do "rollup" so theres fewer uopdates.
11:26 PM elmo40: true
11:26 PM elmo40: but the rebooting... that is SOOOO annoying.
11:26 PM XXCoder: yeah
11:27 PM elmo40: honestly. how many kernel patches can there be? what other reason for a reboot? Other than a rootkit checker.
11:27 PM XXCoder: linux have had no reboot updates for literally decade. ms have no excuse
11:27 PM elmo40: on a side note i think i bricked my raspi3 >_<
11:27 PM XXCoder: dead forevermore?
11:28 PM elmo40: i was measuring the +5V in the header pins and touched PIN2 and 4 (both are +5V) and LIGHTS OUT!
11:28 PM elmo40: the multimeter prode shorted the two contacts.
11:28 PM elmo40: *probe
11:29 PM elmo40: i don't know why it would kill the board.
11:29 PM elmo40: just very strange
11:29 PM XXCoder: weird
