05:01 PM Tom_L: figures
05:07 PM skunkworks: yay!
05:14 PM CaptHindsight: think the weather last week broke the logs
05:25 PM skunkworks: away from the shop for a week and this happens.. http://electronicsam.com/images/greenmachine/IMG_20190824_170833.jpg
05:27 PM _unreal_: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1cSCeN7FHmrVlixX_gljgM8VOcOoc1vcK
05:27 PM _unreal_: current progress
05:40 PM Tom_L: skunkworks it might catch up with itself eventually
05:40 PM Tom_L: not much goin on today anyway
05:41 PM Tom_L: looks like it missed 3-4 days
05:41 PM Tom_L: maybe once the index rebuilds something will show up
05:44 PM Tom_L: guess i'll just blame the storms
05:50 PM _unreal_: skunkworks, I see a tractor so what happend?
05:58 PM jesseg: The tractor has absconded with the coffee and hid in the shop?
06:02 PM skunkworks: needs the 3 pt hitch needs to be over hauld..
06:03 PM skunkworks: hauled
06:38 PM perry_j1987: big day today just moved one of the cnc to its new location, moved drillpress to its new location and cleaned up a bunch of the shop
06:39 PM XXCoder: fun
06:39 PM XXCoder: shop I work at is doing some changes also
06:40 PM XXCoder: they are brining in massive new cnc, found out its too big to fit though 10 feet wide door
06:40 PM XXCoder: so they are widening it to 12
06:40 PM XXCoder: they just upgraded power systems. HUGE cabiets
06:41 PM XXCoder: theyre still trying to sell old fadal 88 and old cell. sure. lol
07:16 PM jthornton: nice tires on the tractor
07:20 PM XXCoder: perry_j1987: I wish
07:20 PM XXCoder: moving fadal would cost $600 maybe
07:20 PM XXCoder: and thats if I have room in nonexistant shop
07:20 PM XXCoder: $2000 is current price tag on it
07:21 PM XXCoder: would need 3 phase power too
07:21 PM XXCoder: i would need to upgrade my nonexistant shop too
07:23 PM jthornton: is that lower than scrap value?
07:23 PM skunkworks: need to do some dress up... Just a bit.. http://electronicsam.com/images/greenmachine/IMG_20190824_191505.jpg
07:23 PM XXCoder: .. dont think so? dunno
07:24 PM XXCoder: https://cdn.globalauctionplatform.com/b16b8359-424d-4cce-8c2f-a5ad011a1608/96ad88e7-3984-45d2-b0a2-5b18e746cb0c/540x360.jpg
07:24 PM jthornton: skunkworks, I've seen a lot worse in factories lol
07:24 PM XXCoder: same model. onme at work is slightly wider
07:24 PM jthornton: odd shape panel...
07:25 PM skunkworks: it used to sit next to the column.. So the angle was to make room for the column bolts.
07:26 PM perry_j1987: 2000 seems cheap
07:26 PM XXCoder: depends. spindle is kinda shot
07:26 PM XXCoder: its far more worn that pictured machine
07:27 PM XXCoder: its been kept so long because it was only machine that can do numbered engrave
07:27 PM XXCoder: key on was
07:27 PM XXCoder: most of its jobs was moved to robos, and engraving is now on that weird slim haas
07:56 PM Tom_L: skunkworks mine looks worse than that but it works
07:57 PM Tom_L: it was done on a budget
08:03 PM _unreal_: any one know of any dirt cheap Z
08:03 PM _unreal_: systems/
08:03 PM _unreal_: ?
08:04 PM skunkworks: slightly better..
08:04 PM skunkworks: http://electronicsam.com/images/greenmachine/IMG_20190824_195634.jpg
08:05 PM skunkworks: Tom_L: you should see the k&t panel.. We have more than enough room - yah right...
08:06 PM _unreal_: skunkworks, I get all kinds of cool control electronics
08:06 PM _unreal_: from the super yachts
08:07 PM skunkworks: http://www.electronicsam.com/images/KandT/conversion/panel/electricalbox.jpg
08:11 PM _unreal_: skunkworks, heh I have a direct logic 405ex d4-ex? and all kinds of modules that go to it
08:11 PM Tom_L: my box _could_ have been a little bigger but it is what it is
08:11 PM _unreal_: touch screen interfaces for other systems
08:18 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Control2.jpg
08:18 PM Tom_L: i'm sure i could get by with only one of those transformers
08:23 PM skunkworks: Tom_L: awesome - splicing into the 50 pin ribon cable!
08:24 PM skunkworks: hmm - I don have space on the door... :)
08:24 PM skunkworks: Tom_L: that actually looks pretty good...
08:24 PM Tom_L: i had no plans to use the door but ran out of room
08:24 PM Tom_L: i figured the drivers would go there but then i just kept putting more junk on it
08:24 PM _unreal_: OMG these are tiny
08:24 PM _unreal_: https://www.amazon.com/LWL7B-Miniature-Linear-Guide-Width/dp/B07G3D5265/ref=sr_1_144?keywords=cnc%2Blinear%2Bguide&qid=1566695782&s=gateway&sr=8-144&th=1
08:25 PM skunkworks: if I actually put a motherboard in this - it will have to go on the door..
08:25 PM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/rue/Control1.jpg
08:25 PM Tom_L: it's even changed from that
08:25 PM Tom_L: the blue relays are gone
08:25 PM Tom_L: unreliable
08:25 PM XXCoder: tiny and cheap lol
08:25 PM XXCoder: 110% chance crunchy bearings
08:26 PM _unreal_: hehe that would be SOOOO cool to use those and make a micro cnc machine
08:26 PM _unreal_: just for the hell of it
08:27 PM XXCoder: easily
08:27 PM skunkworks: Tom_L: stopped making contact?
08:27 PM skunkworks: dirty?
08:27 PM Tom_L: stick
08:28 PM skunkworks: wow - realy? scary
08:28 PM Tom_L: shorted the motor and blew a fuse so i switched to one of JT's DPDT ones
08:28 PM skunkworks: I took a couple omrons from work to play with.
08:28 PM Tom_L: was before i knew he had them
08:28 PM Tom_L: and i'm not using reverse now either
08:28 PM Tom_L: spindle was too small really to do rigid tapping
08:29 PM Tom_L: but single point threading works great
08:29 PM Tom_L: just takes a little longer
08:29 PM skunkworks: this 750w spindle seems enough for this thing..
08:29 PM _unreal_: is tom talking to someone or just rambling about his setup?
08:30 PM Tom_L: i wish i had one that big :)
08:30 PM skunkworks: expecially with the stmbl drive..
08:30 PM XXCoder: mines just 400w lol
08:30 PM _unreal_: 200watt
08:30 PM Tom_L: _unreal_ yes
08:30 PM * skunkworks is still suprised he hasn't blown one up...
08:30 PM _unreal_: you know the interesting thing is ever since I installed the speed ocntroller
08:31 PM _unreal_: my spindle HEAT has dropped way down even at max rpm
08:31 PM Tom_L: and i ran out of IO on the first header so the ribbon was kindof an afterthought
08:32 PM Tom_L: mostly limits and pendant iirc
08:32 PM _unreal_: I'm tempted to buy this https://www.aliexpress.com/item/32827716951.html?spm=a2g0s.8937460.0.0.59f22e0e7jvkjG
08:32 PM _unreal_: but I'm not thrilled about a month wait
08:32 PM _unreal_: I may just make the cnc with all liner slides :(
08:33 PM skunkworks: This was on purpose.... http://electronicsam.com/images/greenmachine/IMG_20190801_190055.jpg
08:34 PM Tom_L: sometimes ya do what ya gotta do
08:37 PM skunkworks: could try running this with the rpi4...
08:37 PM Tom_L: i'm sure you will eventually
08:37 PM skunkworks: I don't know... I don't like the realtimeyness of it
08:38 PM Tom_L: might be ok for some things but i don't think i'll try one
08:38 PM skunkworks: might get better
08:39 PM skunkworks: it runs ok - like it would be decent as far as responsiveness
08:39 PM Tom_L: CaptHindsight doesn't seem to care much for em
08:40 PM skunkworks: might be I need better cooling too - right now is just the heatsink that came with it
08:41 PM Tom_L: might keep it from throttling back
08:42 PM skunkworks: wow - it stil comes up.. Didn't screw up any wireing
08:42 PM Tom_L: haven't even powered mine up since the flood
08:42 PM skunkworks: running estop back to linuxcnc is nice too - now I don't home without the estop resetp
08:43 PM skunkworks: reset
08:43 PM Tom_L: finally got the garage cleared of furniture and junk
08:43 PM skunkworks: from basement?
08:43 PM Tom_L: yeah
08:44 PM Tom_L: that's all done now
08:44 PM skunkworks: Yay!
08:44 PM Tom_L: while i was at it i did a little upkeep on the garage
08:44 PM Tom_L: replaced some lower siding that was rotting
08:47 PM skunkworks: I think (other than some hal stuff) all I need to connect up is some switched and powered outlets.. (coolant and oiler)
08:47 PM skunkworks: relays are there.
08:47 PM skunkworks: now
08:59 PM _unreal_: what a pain
08:59 PM _unreal_: I have to draw the stupid nuts so I know there size and can generate my center locations
09:00 PM _unreal_: !@$!@$#%@#$%
09:00 PM Tom_L: what are you drawing them in?
09:01 PM Tom_L: some places have cad files for hardware
09:01 PM _unreal_: design spark
09:02 PM _unreal_: fusion360's "locking" feature drives me crazy
09:02 PM _unreal_: the constraints crap
09:03 PM Tom_L: :)
09:05 PM _unreal_: designspark is SOOOOOOOOO much faster to generate in
09:06 PM _unreal_: half the stuff I do I need to move things I spent more time turning those FUCKING constraints off
09:06 PM Tom_L: i'm partial to catia but that's what i learned
09:06 PM _unreal_: catia?
09:06 PM _unreal_: never heard of it
09:06 PM Tom_L: but it's prohibitive to most
09:06 PM Tom_L: cousin to solidworks
09:06 PM Tom_L: both by Dassault Systems
09:06 PM _unreal_: I'm partial to google sketch
09:06 PM _unreal_: but design spark is my fav by a long shot
09:07 PM _unreal_: well time to take a break and feed the kid
09:07 PM Tom_L: i'd say it's more 'heavy duty' than solidworks
09:08 PM infornography: You should invest in a self feeding kid
09:09 PM infornography: or some sort of auto-feed attachment retrofit
09:19 PM _unreal_: believe it it crossed my mind
