11:32 PM MarcelineVQ: if you're at a machine you can also use an endmill to put a flat where you want to drill
11:33 PM MarcelineVQ: but if it's tubing or something a center punch can dent well enough to get you going

11:48 PM MarcelineVQ: that can be less fun, is there anything beneath the rubber that you're drilling to?
11:49 PM MarcelineVQ: otherwise pressing a tube through it may be a good way to make a hole, though I've not tried. drills work but they tend to make raggedy very-undersized holes
11:50 PM MarcelineVQ: also possible to whack a thick spike into it to make a starting point and drill from that point so it doesn't walk as bad
