12:50 AM Elmo40: people still use those channels?
12:54 AM Elmo40: i forget all the commands for them...
12:54 AM sensille: people still use irc?
01:07 AM sensille: luckily irc is mostly emoji-ready
01:11 AM CaptHindsight: 🍸
01:42 AM sensille: ok, i need a better font
01:43 AM Deejay: moin
04:48 AM jthornton: morning
04:48 AM XXCoder: morning
04:50 AM Tom_L: morning
05:02 AM jthornton: going to be a hot day here
05:02 AM Tom_L: 79F Hi 97
05:03 AM jthornton: but not that hot...
05:03 AM Tom_L: been rather humid the last few days
05:03 AM jthornton: high: 93f
05:03 AM jthornton: yea same here
05:09 AM CaptHindsight: huh, 80-ish today and tomorrow then only 72 on Wed.
05:10 AM CaptHindsight: only 91% humidity currently
05:10 AM CaptHindsight: rain later
05:10 AM XXCoder: "only" lol
05:11 AM Tom_L: T-storms after 5
05:11 AM XXCoder: here summers tend to be dry. this year is rather abnormally high... and still below 70%
05:11 AM XXCoder: this week looks like 75f, 77f, 78f then finally 73f
05:11 AM CaptHindsight: we have been all over the place but no 100's yet this year
05:14 AM CaptHindsight: long day debugging 12= hours
05:14 AM CaptHindsight: time for some rest
05:22 AM CaptHindsight: https://newatlas.com/linear-labs-hunstable-electric-motor/60974/
05:28 AM _unreal_: mornning
05:28 AM _unreal_: one thing about south florida that sucks. school starts before a lot of the rest of the country
05:28 AM _unreal_: today is the first day of school for my daughter
07:35 AM Loetmichel: maan, sometimes i hate this place... delivered 2 military notebooks to a customer... now he calls: he cant get the keys for the HDD frames into the hole... $me" Known issue, someone packed the wrong keys in your packet (hole in the notebook enclosure a few 1/10mm to small), i'll turn down a couple keys and send them to you per express... WHY CANT THE COWORKERS LOOK A THE PACKING SHEET ONLY
07:35 AM Loetmichel: ONCE? there was a remark in big letters to use the "turned down keys" :-(
08:04 AM gregcnc: no part numbers for keys?
08:40 AM Loetmichel: gregcnc: not for the modified ones, no
08:40 AM Loetmichel: its just a piece of plastic
08:54 AM JT-Shop: Loetmichel: powder coat anything yet?
09:15 AM Loetmichel: nope
11:06 AM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
11:10 AM cradek: I miss my UPS
11:23 AM skunkworks: what happened to your ups?
11:23 AM skunkworks: cradek:
11:30 AM cradek: it burnt down
11:31 AM gregcnc: literal fire?
11:31 AM cradek: well it gave the "my battery is dead" alarm, and then I pushed the "ok whatever, please quit beeping" button, and then a few weeks later my computers were off and the UPS was making a weird sound and was very hot and smelled like acid or something
11:32 AM cradek: not a good failure mode (I've seen it before)
03:13 PM Tom_L: everybody busy cncing today?
03:15 PM XXCoder: i will be
03:31 PM Tom_L: 2nd?
03:31 PM MarcelineVQ: I've got to move a shed but it might end up being a cnc hut once winter sets in and it's less busy
03:36 PM XXCoder: 2nd as in 2nd shift? yesah
03:45 PM Tom_L: my kid's place runs 2 5 to 5
03:45 PM XXCoder: mines 3:15 pm to 1:45 am
03:46 PM Tom_L: 4 days on 3 off for them
03:48 PM XXCoder: same
04:12 PM _unreal_: working at work today
04:15 PM skunkworks: cradek: we have a ups that has like 6 batteries in it that runs a machine.. I got called down because of a funny smell. It smelled like a salon that does perms. The batteries were so hot you couldn't touch them and I had to cut case to get them out
04:17 PM _unreal_: cut the case?
04:17 PM _unreal_: and what kind of a machine?
04:18 PM Deejay: gn8
04:18 PM _unreal_: ?
04:18 PM _unreal_: ALREADY
04:20 PM skunkworks: we are a screen printer - it was a 'digital to screen' machine
04:20 PM skunkworks: uses TI dlp to expose the screen.
04:21 PM skunkworks: piece of crap to keep running - but when it works it works awesome
05:15 PM _unreal_: getting closer
05:16 PM _unreal_: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1I6eQdFUrEA6zVLLEzQ6sSM1lnkhYnxKT
05:51 PM gloops: whats the part for?
06:06 PM Tom_L: he's showing us his new dust collector
06:15 PM Elmo40: Loetmichel, is it you that makes those secure screens and computer casing? with all that RF supression technolgy?
07:17 PM _unreal_: its a cutting board
07:17 PM _unreal_: I'm bilding for my father and his girl friend
07:17 PM _unreal_: this is a machup of what it will look like https://drive.google.com/open?id=1I6sOsXy7h3nRVIoGICmUYGBgGy8Uq44V
07:18 PM _unreal_: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1I9arEWB8SsDy0F2xYLvq30tdOQmoGuR4
07:20 PM Elmo40: _unreal_, i like the clean design.
07:20 PM Elmo40: it looks like pine
07:20 PM infornography: Whats it made from?
07:20 PM Elmo40: will you stain it?
07:21 PM _unreal_: pine
07:21 PM _unreal_: stain NO
07:21 PM _unreal_: its going to be a cutting board for cheese
07:21 PM Elmo40: novel idea for the rail. bearings on tube. you come up with it?
07:21 PM _unreal_: I'm going to use an OIL and low temp bake it to season it
07:22 PM _unreal_: ?
07:22 PM _unreal_: which bearing set all 3 bearing systems on my cnc have different methods/concepts
07:23 PM Elmo40: all the dust gets into the rollers, though. you should use a similar brush like the vacuum to help keep them clean
07:23 PM Elmo40: in the first image. shows the router head over the tool.
07:23 PM Elmo40: the tube and bearings are exposed.
07:41 PM _unreal_: I can kind of cover the bearings lower bearings
07:42 PM _unreal_: if I used a larger waste board but it will be FLEXY and the 45 of the 90 degree angle aluminum will still drop any dust directly to the bearings
07:42 PM _unreal_: I now how m dust shoe which is WAY better then it was before
07:42 PM _unreal_: captures 99%
07:43 PM _unreal_: which part do you find novel?
07:45 PM _unreal_: Elmo40, ?
07:45 PM _unreal_: sigh
07:53 PM Tom_L: put a piece of tin over the top of the bearings
07:53 PM Tom_L: will help keep some dust out
08:56 PM CaptHindsight: skunkworks: you'll be able to do that with LCNC soon
08:57 PM CaptHindsight: skunkworks: does it project over a screen and then slide the projector or screen in X and/or Y for another image?
08:59 PM _unreal_: ?
10:24 PM _unreal_: Rab, did you ever get the starboard?
10:25 PM _unreal_: or was it someone else? wolf maybe?
10:47 PM skunkworks: CaptHindsight: it exposes about a 1 inch square while moving
10:48 PM skunkworks: scans back and forth and while moving down
10:48 PM skunkworks: wow - an actual saftey relay actually intefaces with linuxcnc without any suprises...
10:48 PM * skunkworks feels safer already..
10:48 PM skunkworks: old one - only 1 sensing input..
10:51 PM CaptHindsight: skunkworks: if you stacked screens on top of each other you would have a 3D screen printer
10:51 PM skunkworks: don
10:51 PM CaptHindsight: skunkworks: what is the res XY of the projector?
10:51 PM skunkworks: don't give the owner any ideas...
10:51 PM CaptHindsight: hah
10:52 PM CaptHindsight: res= resolution
10:52 PM skunkworks: It has linear scales in both directions.. (I think they are 1 micron - but it has been a while)
10:52 PM CaptHindsight: wow
10:52 PM skunkworks: it is really an amazing machine for its time. (runs galil and windows 2000)
10:52 PM CaptHindsight: you could print 80s tech semiconductors with that
10:53 PM skunkworks: it actually is an interesting mechanics.. It has 2 linear scales for the vertical axis. (left and right)
10:54 PM CaptHindsight: 1=25.4mm, 25.4mm / 1024 = 0.024mm (24um) per pixel
10:54 PM skunkworks: uses a rack for postioning and a little motor and cam on one side that adjust the skew of the machine to keep the axis aligned with the linear scales.
10:54 PM CaptHindsight: what line screen?
10:55 PM CaptHindsight: 1000 dpi or?
10:55 PM CaptHindsight: 1000 dpi is 500 lines
10:55 PM CaptHindsight: 500 white, 500 black is that way i recall
10:55 PM skunkworks: I don't know what the finest we use.. it used to be 390 lines per inch but that was when I worked back there in high school.
10:55 PM skunkworks: I would have to ask
10:55 PM CaptHindsight: ok so they numbers are about there
10:56 PM CaptHindsight: using a 4K projector right now at ~140um per pixel
10:56 PM skunkworks: cool
10:56 PM skunkworks: is the rastering stuff in mesa working?
10:58 PM skunkworks: our electromecahnical guy tried to remove and clean the contacts on the dlp a few years ago - broke it when he tried to put it back together..
10:58 PM CaptHindsight: I'm doing a complete write from scratch QtPy and OpenCV
10:58 PM skunkworks: I played with opencv a while back..
10:59 PM CaptHindsight: PyQt
11:00 PM skunkworks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pe2RACwiEbg
11:00 PM skunkworks: when my camera work was even worse.. If possible..
11:00 PM CaptHindsight: yeah, i recall
11:00 PM CaptHindsight: I'm going to fix all that up
11:01 PM CaptHindsight: so you can sync images from projectors to motion as well as use cameras for alignment
11:01 PM CaptHindsight: I used to do this stuff back in the 80's with DOS and 8mHz PC's
11:02 PM skunkworks: crazy
11:02 PM CaptHindsight: we were happy to grab one video frame 512 x 512 in real time
11:02 PM CaptHindsight: B&W
11:03 PM CaptHindsight: I hate coding but I'm just going to get it done
11:04 PM skunkworks: Good luck!!
11:04 PM CaptHindsight: been waiting 8 years for others to get printrun/projectlayer, nanodlp, OpenCV etc going
11:04 PM skunkworks: This is what happens when I am left alone..
11:04 PM skunkworks: http://electronicsam.com/images/greenmachine/IMG_20190812_225755.jpg
11:04 PM CaptHindsight: repetier, and some others
11:05 PM skunkworks: pcw_home must have nightmares when I post pictures..
11:05 PM CaptHindsight: nah
11:05 PM CaptHindsight: quick proof of concept in noisy environment
11:05 PM skunkworks: well - havn't had to send anything back to him.. Yet..
11:06 PM CaptHindsight: my bench looks similar right now
11:06 PM skunkworks: this is the breakfast bar...
11:06 PM skunkworks: ;)
11:06 PM CaptHindsight: no enclosures on any boards, BOB's Mesa FPGA's, STM32 cards, power supplies, pneumatics and solvents out
11:07 PM CaptHindsight: and open PC cases
11:07 PM skunkworks: heh
11:07 PM skunkworks: only way to go
11:08 PM CaptHindsight: swapping around 4-5 hard drives between systems
11:08 PM CaptHindsight: LCNC on Stretch, LCNC on Sid, Arch Linux, Gentoo etc
11:09 PM CaptHindsight: already 11pm, have some left to test tonight
11:09 PM CaptHindsight: bbl
