02:05 AM Deejay: moin
04:55 AM gloops: quiet in here, nobody building anything recently
05:38 AM jthornton: morning
05:39 AM XXCoder: yo
05:39 AM XXCoder: no networking adventures today!
05:42 AM jthornton: your network all back up and running?
05:42 AM XXCoder: yeah no new issues
05:50 AM jthornton: still trying to get the old store up and running to be able to copy a few more products
05:51 AM jthornton: finally got an email from the guy that bought something from the old store just as it was switching over to the new store
06:00 AM Tom_L: morning
06:01 AM XXCoder: of course. even if switch is millisecond long there wull be that customer
06:02 AM XXCoder: when pebble app was taken off ios, there was one who tried to install but failed since it was removed
06:02 AM XXCoder: poor guy cant use his pebble watch.
06:04 AM jthornton: hmm I can get the old home page up but not view any products...
06:05 AM Tom_L: rights?
06:05 AM jthornton: path issue I think
06:05 AM Tom_L: chown or chmod usually fix that for me
06:06 AM jthornton: I had to copy the old store to a subdirectory off gnipsel
06:06 AM Tom_L: that never goes well
06:06 AM jthornton: so far it's proven to not go well
06:08 AM jthornton: hmmm I see the problem
06:10 AM jthornton: hmm no
06:10 AM iderik: hi, im trying to assemble a hydraulic valve, but the 4 holes doesnt match up (offset), is this common or done on purpose? see the 4 holes on top of the black label: https://www.boschrexroth.com/ics/cat/content/assets/Online/im/IH_25085_17R_20150916_132355.big.jpg
06:11 AM XXCoder: im not familiar with that thing, but you r black label dont align like pictured?
06:17 AM jthornton: a photo of the actual part might be better
06:24 AM iderik: XXCoder: im trying to fastening the smaller blue part (top) onto the larger blue part (bottom)
06:25 AM iderik: jthornton: i dont have a camera, but its the same kind of part in that image
06:25 AM Tom_L: did they align before?
06:25 AM Tom_L: maybe the replacement part is wrong
06:25 AM jthornton: then it should just go together
06:26 AM gloops: missed the pic
06:26 AM Tom_L: https://www.boschrexroth.com/ics/cat/content/assets/Online/im/IH_25085_17R_20150916_132355.big.jpg
06:28 AM gloops: well, get one bolt in but leave it loose, try and start the others leaving them as loose as possible as you go?
06:28 AM iderik: Tom_L: yes, i disassambled it
06:29 AM gloops: also check the bolts in the threads first, make sure they start ok
06:29 AM iderik: i guess it should do, but i have to use some force. when two of the bolts are in, it looks like the other two are offset by atleast 1-2mm
06:30 AM iderik: gloops: ye, ill give it another try. i was also curious of why it was machined this way
06:31 AM iderik: datasheet page 35, if anyone interested: https://md.boschrexroth.com/modules/BRMV2PDFDownload-internet.dll/re29123_2019-07.pdf?db=brmv2&lvid=1211811&mvid=14132&clid=20&sid=72D6741984E9A61443722405AE833527.borex-tc&sch=M&id=14132,20,1211811
06:32 AM gloops: looks like the other two are offset by atleast 1-2mm < chinese, they probably are lol
06:33 AM iderik: no, its comes from a genuine rexroth office (used as showoff items for potential customers)
06:34 AM XXCoder: if it is china, who knows why it was machined that way
06:34 AM gloops: well, what comes off must go back on, can only go one way right?
06:34 AM iderik: yep :)
06:46 AM gloops: bit of a corner cut, precise fit with no location pins or anything
09:17 AM skunkworks: still amazing for rt_preempt... http://www.electronicsam.com/images/KandT/testing/8300/Screenshot_2019-08-11_05-02-25.png
09:17 AM skunkworks: that was over night
09:33 AM Tom_L: iderik, you didn't get it torned around when you put it back together did you?
09:34 AM Tom_L: skunkworks, that's pretty good
09:59 AM JT-Shop: dang a big piece of 4-4 SEOW is heavy...
10:02 AM Elmo40: uh, yes it is!
10:02 AM Elmo40: that is massive size. what are you powering?
10:03 AM JT-Shop: it was on a temp power box we used to use
10:03 AM Elmo40: skunkworks, you should do that test with a youtube vid going
10:03 AM JT-Shop: dunno why we used that, prob just had it left over from some job
10:03 AM iderik: Tom_L: no, its all good now. i was just being stupid
10:03 AM iderik: i though the top part was oriented correctly, by the looks of another part, but that other part was place incorrectly in the first place
10:04 AM iderik: anyway, good thing i took a break and though it thru before using any force :)
10:11 AM gloops: alls well that ends well
12:55 PM miss0r2: 'evening
12:59 PM phipli: evening
01:05 PM skunkworks: Elmo40: http://www.electronicsam.com/images/KandT/testing/8300/Screenshot_2019-08-11_12-57-57.png
01:09 PM Loetmichel: evening indeed
01:12 PM Loetmichel: just paid the invoice for my BMW 525i repair... 928.30 eur... MAAAN that car is expensive... on the other hand: its 3 weeks AFTER the repair, invoice just was in the mail, and the mechanic did an oil and filter change, welded the exhaust, put new parking brakes on including the cables, new brake hoses on the rear, changed the coolant thermostat AND replaced the rear right shock... considering
01:12 PM Loetmichel: its a BMW thats not so expensive after all ;)
01:59 PM JT-Shop: pcw_home: what is a safe maximum length for a DB25 to IDC26 jumper?
02:12 PM pcw_home: It depends to some extent on Electrical noise and ground loop issues
02:14 PM pcw_home: I have used 15 feet in a clean environment but I would no use more than about 3 feet in normal situations
02:15 PM pcw_home: for longer I would use a IEEE-1284 cable and a short adapter
02:21 PM CaptHindsight: Loetmichel: it's mostly labor
02:22 PM CaptHindsight: my repair costs are very low since i only buy cars now that are highly reliable and I do my own work
02:23 PM Tom_L: what's considered highly reliable?
02:23 PM Loetmichel: CaptHindsight: surprisingly it wasnt
02:24 PM Loetmichel: about 50% parts cost 50% labor on that invoice
02:24 PM Loetmichel: BMW parts ARE expensive
02:24 PM Loetmichel: even in germany
02:24 PM Tom_L: but darn well worth it :D
02:24 PM Loetmichel: that /&%%/&/ thermostat alone was a whopping 380 eur
02:28 PM CaptHindsight: way to many cheap Chinese replacement parts in the system here now
02:29 PM CaptHindsight: i call them temporary parts to be used until the good ones arrive
02:31 PM CaptHindsight: Tom_L: 80 series land cruisers, most Mercedes pre-2000, Honda mid 80's-2010, etc
02:34 PM CaptHindsight: finding rust free versions can be difficult
02:36 PM Loetmichel: CaptHindsight: apparenty BMW did a bit of trickery with that thermostat: its electrically heated to open earlier if you floor the engine...
02:36 PM gloops: not worth doing major repairs on old cars these days
02:36 PM JT-Shop: pcw_home: thanks
02:36 PM gloops: buy cheap - first major fault - weigh it in get your money back
02:36 PM Loetmichel: that heater makes it "non-standard" and prompts a replacement of nopt only the htermostat but also the housing it sits in if that electric heater burns out (regularily)
02:36 PM Loetmichel: and there is no aftermarket part
02:38 PM CaptHindsight: nice try BMW
02:40 PM Loetmichel: i get the idea behind that: its easier to heat the thermostat to get the engine cooler than to invent a whole new valve thing to let coolant flow around it
02:41 PM Loetmichel: but the fact that they made that part "failure prone" is a bit of a bummer
02:41 PM Loetmichel: nearly no 525i engine in that age has a working one
02:41 PM CaptHindsight: most other cars put a small hole in the valve to allow for some bypass
02:41 PM Loetmichel: so you cant even go to the scrapyard and find one
02:42 PM Loetmichel: no, they do it depending on the throttle position
02:42 PM Loetmichel: not permanently
02:42 PM Loetmichel: if you fllor the throttle the thermostat gets heated up so the engine stays about 10°c cooler
02:42 PM CaptHindsight: yeah, you can usually tell the fancy park that breaks by it not being available used or disappears quickly from bone yards
02:42 PM Loetmichel: and its controlled by the ECU
02:44 PM Loetmichel: there ARE aftermarked "resistor plugs" that simulate the heater, so the ECU doesent throw an error and you can drive normally with a broken heater... but i wanted that to work as intended ,)
02:46 PM CaptHindsight: i got tired of factory cars the past 20 years or so
02:47 PM CaptHindsight: but i wouldn't mind working with a group to make supercars
02:48 PM CaptHindsight: it's not like working with DNA or nanomachines but it's fun
02:48 PM * Loetmichel would like an old '69 F150 or F200... but thats like buying gold by the ton here in germany
02:49 PM Loetmichel: none to find below 30k, and even then they are barely more than a pile of rust in form of a Ford.
02:49 PM CaptHindsight: I like the ones a few years older
02:49 PM Loetmichel: the "good" ones are more like 100kEur
02:49 PM CaptHindsight: i sold one about 10 years ago
02:50 PM Loetmichel: restored to factory look and so on
02:56 PM _unreal_: So I'm in love with my dust shoe. works great. and the little vacuum is OK
02:56 PM _unreal_: wish it was stronger but its collecting 95%
02:56 PM _unreal_: big particulates dont like to go up. but if they get close to the area where the vacuum hose is it gets them.
02:59 PM CaptHindsight: Loetmichel: was a 1965 Chevy https://imgur.com/evTawLz
02:59 PM * Loetmichel used a dust shoe with a PTFE glider foot... worked PRETTY well: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mj8sGEf8Wf8
02:59 PM Loetmichel: CaptHindsight: i would have liked that
03:00 PM Loetmichel: but i wil not pay more than $8k for such a car, it would be basically a "toy"
03:00 PM Loetmichel: and for that price you dont get ANYTHING here in germany
03:00 PM Wolf__: ugh, I need a plate beveler… but should I buy one or try to make one…
03:00 PM CaptHindsight: all original and stock except it had a pretty stock Chevy 454 engine vs the 305 that would have been in it
03:00 PM Loetmichel: _unreal_: seen the video link?
03:01 PM Loetmichel: CaptHindsight: whats that in liters?
03:02 PM Wolf__: 305ci would be close to 5lt
03:03 PM CaptHindsight: take the cui and divide be 61 = L
03:03 PM CaptHindsight: 7.44L
03:03 PM _unreal_: video?
03:03 PM Loetmichel: hmmm, how many MPG do you get out of that?
03:04 PM CaptHindsight: i think it was around 8-9 MPG
03:05 PM _unreal_: Loetmichel, thats good for flat surfaces not so good for 3d
03:05 PM Loetmichel: ... on the other hand, a friend of mine always says "HAB IHR ALLE KEIN GELD FÜR SPRIT? WAS MACHT IHR DANN AUF DER AUTOBAHN????" (Dont you all have enough money for fuel? WHY are you on the Autobahn then???"
03:05 PM CaptHindsight: it was carburated
03:05 PM Loetmichel: _unreal_: indeed, its for sheet metal
03:05 PM Loetmichel: and carbon ;)
03:06 PM CaptHindsight: https://imgur.com/SNfmElV underside
03:07 PM Loetmichel: that looks neat
03:07 PM Loetmichel: but wood? is that treated in some way to prevent rot?
03:08 PM CaptHindsight: heh, it was urethaned clear
03:08 PM CaptHindsight: it spent most of the time inside
03:08 PM CaptHindsight: was dirty in that pic
03:08 PM CaptHindsight: never saw rain or snow
03:10 PM Loetmichel: i see
03:10 PM Loetmichel: so it was a "show car"?
03:12 PM _unreal_: carbon as in carbon fiber?
03:13 PM _unreal_: CaptHindsight, I was wondering what was under her skirt
03:13 PM Loetmichel: _unreal_: carbon fibre plates, yes, thats what its drilling in that video
03:14 PM _unreal_: for?
03:14 PM Loetmichel: 2mm thich carbon fribre from airbus ;)
03:14 PM Loetmichel: for model planes
03:14 PM _unreal_: ahh
03:14 PM Loetmichel: drones in this case

03:15 PM _unreal_: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B3vL4RqyNgQAa2NIdmxsVlZXVk0
03:15 PM Loetmichel: nice
03:15 PM Loetmichel: i always use sweets containers for my drones
03:16 PM _unreal_: WHAT? containers?
03:16 PM Loetmichel: http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=11789
03:16 PM Loetmichel: those 1kg "haribo" bigpacks
03:16 PM _unreal_: hum
03:17 PM _unreal_: the shell I built is only 100g as I recall
03:17 PM _unreal_: and it will support 160 lbs easy dead weight sitting on top of it
03:17 PM Loetmichel: maan, that whole copter with the cap on is only 800gr
03:17 PM Loetmichel: ;)
03:17 PM Loetmichel: look on the pic, and its made from aluminium ;)
03:18 PM _unreal_: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B3vL4RqyNgQAWHprcmpfQ29ENFE
03:18 PM Loetmichel: that plastic "cap" there is less than 30gr
03:18 PM Loetmichel: and its cheap as fu***
03:18 PM _unreal_: my entire frame dry. is 600g
03:18 PM Loetmichel: (even comes with some sweets in it :)
03:19 PM _unreal_: the props are 13" long
03:19 PM _unreal_: for scale
03:19 PM Loetmichel: http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=11753&g2_imageViewsIndex=1
03:19 PM Loetmichel: http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=11765&g2_imageViewsIndex=1
03:19 PM _unreal_: that quad can produce as I recall 28 lbs thrust
03:20 PM CaptHindsight: nano/micro-machine woven CF aircraft bodies and frames
03:20 PM Loetmichel: 368gr-274 gr, AND it has a second centerplate on the second pic ;)
03:20 PM CaptHindsight: laminates are so 20th century
03:20 PM _unreal_: that frame of mine is water proof
03:21 PM _unreal_: notice the floations
03:21 PM Loetmichel: _unreal_: that hexa is about 1400gr TOW... and has close to 8kg thrust ;)
03:21 PM _unreal_: Oh that was the first cap version https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B3vL4RqyNgQAaE1OVVY3NFhRRGM
03:22 PM _unreal_: I shouldnt try doing acro with it though heh
03:22 PM _unreal_: would
03:22 PM _unreal_: wouldnt
03:22 PM Loetmichel: i make photocopters... not young enough for acro ;)
03:22 PM _unreal_: heh
03:23 PM _unreal_: you'd love my framing jig for making the body
03:23 PM _unreal_: I have a jig for making any kind of configuration I want
03:23 PM _unreal_: holds the legs at any angle, any location and height
03:24 PM Loetmichel: i like to make them cheap (the 15mm alu square tube is only 7 eur a meter), so it huts not so much when it eventually kisses the ground hard again ;)
03:24 PM _unreal_: then I just make a center form to my or a customers needs and do the glass layup
03:24 PM CaptHindsight: https://www.tulsaworld.com/news/trending/summer-camps-use-facial-recognition-so-parents-can-watch-from/article_dd015621-1727-592b-9bf8-032ea8d14287.html nice
03:25 PM _unreal_: heh my frames dont break unless you hit the ground at 30-70mph
03:25 PM Loetmichel: _unreal_: i do
03:25 PM _unreal_: I use CF tube and I put a + style gusset in them lightly tacked with epoxy
03:25 PM Loetmichel: frequently
03:25 PM CaptHindsight: i need to sell a system that just scans infants at birth
03:25 PM _unreal_: the full length
03:25 PM _unreal_: huh?
03:25 PM Loetmichel: also i prefer something cheap to break than to buy new motors or rewind them or have to buy new electronics
03:26 PM CaptHindsight: or maybe earlier, 3 month scan and blood work and up
03:26 PM CaptHindsight: -6 months from birth
03:26 PM _unreal_: I sell mine now and then have not in some time though obama really fucked up the RC industry here in the US thank GOD that MFER is gone
03:27 PM _unreal_: CaptHindsight, I have no idae what your talking about
03:27 PM Loetmichel: _unreal_: if you are saying that you prefer the carrot headed idiot you just lost all my respect.
03:27 PM CaptHindsight: article ^^
03:27 PM _unreal_: I should really start advertizing again marine quads.
03:28 PM CaptHindsight: drones should be legal for neighborhood watch
03:28 PM Loetmichel: s/headed/haired
03:28 PM CaptHindsight: just spy on everyone all the time, just get it over with
03:29 PM Loetmichel: CaptHindsight: IIRC its legal to shot down a drone that flies over your property... isnt it?
03:29 PM Loetmichel: in the US i mean
03:29 PM _unreal_: Loetmichel, obama made is so bad in the US that a childs flying drone barbi doll that spins is illegal if you dont register it and have a amature radio licences
03:30 PM _unreal_: Loetmichel, not in the US
03:30 PM Loetmichel: _unreal_: sounds about right. those are no toys. Also the props are dangerous.
03:30 PM CaptHindsight: Loetmichel: only if you use your assault rifle :)
03:30 PM _unreal_: Loetmichel, soft rubber butter fly wings........
03:30 PM _unreal_: o,O O,o
03:31 PM _unreal_: really
03:31 PM Loetmichel: but that wasnt the point. if you really think that joke of a president you have now is better than ANY other president you lost my respect, thats what i meant
03:31 PM CaptHindsight: t-shirt canon that shoots nets
03:32 PM CaptHindsight: yeah, but it does show that the USA can be run by a clown and not fully self destruct
03:32 PM _unreal_: Loetmichel, lol make trump sound like Rodney Dangerfield
03:32 PM _unreal_: get no respect
03:32 PM CaptHindsight: the story today is that he gets upset by being called a racist...
03:32 PM Loetmichel: CaptHindsight: obvoisly we dont have assault rifles here in germany in private hands... but even here its "self defense" if you shot down a drone over your property (with a slingshot for example)
03:32 PM CaptHindsight: so pout up billboards and ads everywhere about him being a racist
03:34 PM _unreal_: and the economy is the greatest it has EVER been in history
03:34 PM CaptHindsight: best time evar
03:34 PM _unreal_: EVER breaking all records
03:34 PM _unreal_: EVER
03:34 PM CaptHindsight: I'm waiting to buy beach front property in N. Korea
03:35 PM _unreal_: there winters sucks BTW
03:35 PM CaptHindsight: just condos and casinos like the Riviera or Macau
03:35 PM _unreal_: sigh.... I'd love to go traveling again sigh....
03:35 PM * _unreal_ still stuck being a full time single da da
03:35 PM Loetmichel: _unreal_: i have no idea who Rodney Dangerfield is, but to be honest: the rest of the world either laughts about Trump or is wondering if the american citizens will make the same stupid mistake next year
03:36 PM _unreal_: do you TRUST the news media or what ever sources are giving you the impression that he is a clown
03:37 PM _unreal_: trust that he she they.... are being truthful and not giving an agenda
03:37 PM CaptHindsight: Loetmichel: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tvfO8W05kHc Rodney Dangerfield No Respect
03:37 PM _unreal_: CaptHindsight, t..hanks
03:37 PM Loetmichel: _unreal_: i dont have to trust any media... there are enough clips out there that SHOW how he is.
03:37 PM _unreal_: got links?
03:38 PM _unreal_: I'd love to see a clip of him being racest HIM being racist
03:38 PM Loetmichel: CaptHindsight: difference is that that rodney guy is actually funny
03:39 PM _unreal_: Loetmichel, everything is a lie when it comes to media.....
03:39 PM Loetmichel: _unreal_ i dont care about trump being or not being racist, i care about him being a corrupt idiot that has the power to throw the world back to the stone age
03:40 PM _unreal_: everything is edited adjusted and tweaked to push a false narrative
03:40 PM Wolf__: he is pretty good at sayign some pretty dumb shit, but then again most politicians we have in the usa do the same
03:40 PM Loetmichel: and the temper to do it on a whim
03:40 PM _unreal_: ok show me an example of him being corrupt
03:40 PM Loetmichel: THATS what i fear about him
03:41 PM Loetmichel: _unreal_: him trying to fire the investigator for example
03:41 PM Loetmichel: what was his name again?
03:42 PM _unreal_: Loetmichel, right now the entire us FED government is on edge. and the entire DEM. party in the US gov is on edge because all the BS that was claimed about trump has been proven false. and now there are investigations into the "investigators" and there are huge discoverys comming out about the COO to try and over thow trump....
03:42 PM _unreal_: and the facts are all comming out slowly
03:42 PM CaptHindsight: Loetmichel: it's eerily familiar sounding to 19030's Germany
03:42 PM Loetmichel: CaptHindsight: INDEED!
03:42 PM CaptHindsight: 1930's even
03:43 PM _unreal_: there are a lot of democrats and FBI and CIA agents that are mostly in the upper management area that are likley going to jail for life at this point..
03:43 PM CaptHindsight: we grew up well aware of it, lots of people under 40 don't really know much about what happened there in the 30-40's
03:44 PM _unreal_: Loetmichel, him trying to fire the invesigator LOL.... A: ITS IN THE US CONSTITUTION he has the athory to do so....
03:44 PM _unreal_: B: comy was fired for lieing
03:44 PM Wolf__: I’m still laughing at all the dems in denial about baltimore being a rat infested shithole thats more dangerous then the southern border
03:44 PM Loetmichel: _unreal_: i didnt want to spark a political discussion in here... i just wanted to say that the moment you tried to "protect" trum you lost all my respect. i cant take someone seriously that falls for a THAT plump demagogue
03:44 PM _unreal_: and a number of corruption discovers!
03:45 PM _unreal_: discovery's because comy was corrupt
03:45 PM gregcnc: finally the mil will be gone, time for another
03:46 PM _unreal_: Loetmichel, what I'm getting a is that I have not see you show me any evidence of any claim. and only repeating the news media which like 100% on every thing
03:46 PM _unreal_: like=lie
03:46 PM Loetmichel: _unreal_: nope, i dont have to
03:46 PM CaptHindsight: Canada's southern border is dangerous
03:46 PM _unreal_: gregcnc, NOOOOOOOO
03:46 PM _unreal_: CaptHindsight, I use to live in maine
03:47 PM Wolf__: moose are dangerous
03:47 PM _unreal_: I had to leave. mexicans are flooding in via canada
03:47 PM _unreal_: Wolf__, and tasty
03:48 PM Wolf__: I’m dreading that I need to work a trade show in Baltimore in september
03:48 PM _unreal_: dreading?
03:49 PM _unreal_: what kind of trade show
03:49 PM Wolf__: I prefer to be un-shot/mugged
03:49 PM _unreal_: ?
03:49 PM Loetmichel: Wolf__: come to germany then ;)
03:49 PM gregcnc: unshot is good
03:50 PM Wolf__: trade show is nothing exciting, Natural products show, but Baltimore has gone to total crap
03:50 PM _unreal_: gregcnc, I beg you'd get mugged with good beer in germany
03:50 PM _unreal_: bet
03:50 PM CaptHindsight: Oktoberfest in Munich is just around the corner
03:51 PM _unreal_: sigh...
03:51 PM Loetmichel: CaptHindsight: oktoberfest and "good beer" in one sentence is an oxymoron though
03:51 PM _unreal_: Loetmichel, I dont follow
03:51 PM gregcnc: wait germany has beer that is not good?
03:51 PM Loetmichel: that stuff they call "beer" on the oktoberfest tastes like piss water
03:51 PM gloops: good beer is any beer after the 6th pint
03:52 PM Loetmichel: its close to your "miller light" IIRC
03:52 PM * _unreal_ cant stand light/diet beer
03:53 PM Loetmichel: gregcnc: its called "schankbier"
03:53 PM Loetmichel: its low alcohol, very young. basically yellow coloured water
03:53 PM CaptHindsight: oktoberfest is for the fun of hanging out
03:53 PM CaptHindsight: with some alcohol
03:54 PM gloops: and get the fridge magnet
03:54 PM gregcnc: i can't drink much anymore, oh well
03:54 PM CaptHindsight: 4kg pretzel and schnitzel
03:54 PM _unreal_: LOL getting funny theres an other one. "Jeffrey Epstein is dead by apparent suicide in federal jail"
03:55 PM Wolf__: everyone knows he was clintoned
03:55 PM gloops: _unreal_ he had the cash to pay the guards to turn a blind eye
03:55 PM _unreal_: Wolf__, oh the clinton death count grows
03:55 PM CaptHindsight: he was trapped in the copy room with monica?
03:55 PM gloops: nah, i think he did commit hari kare
03:56 PM CaptHindsight: Loetmichel: they have been spreading rumors about eh Clintons being behind notorious murders
03:56 PM Wolf__: Well, plate beveler problem is now fixed, just ordered 2 of them off amazon
03:56 PM gloops: if he'd done that to my kids id have kept him alive for weeks
03:56 PM Loetmichel: CaptHindsight: see, thats the thing a german doesent get: you shun a good president just because he had an affair, but that carrot stays in the office??? how bigot is THAT?
03:56 PM CaptHindsight: Loetmichel: I dont think Germany has a satirical newspaper like the onion
03:57 PM CaptHindsight: but lots of people are so dumb here they believe this stuff
03:57 PM CaptHindsight: so public schools have paid off
03:57 PM _unreal_: CaptHindsight, as I said there are a number of people that are going to go down hard. there have been several prominent figures that were all part of the hoax trump russia invistigation. now that its been proven totally faults. there have been a number of people that where part of the investigative body that have "died" suddenly in the past 2 months.
03:57 PM Loetmichel: CaptHindsight: i think https://www.der-postillon.com/ comes close ;)
03:58 PM CaptHindsight: https://www.theonion.com/
03:58 PM CaptHindsight: we have had papers like national enquirer and similar for decades, mostly satirical, but now people believe them
03:58 PM Loetmichel: CaptHindsight: yes, the postillion is VERY close
03:59 PM CaptHindsight: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bat_Boy_%28character%29
03:59 PM Loetmichel: i bet there are americans that take everything written in the onion as truth as well?
03:59 PM CaptHindsight: sure, they can't reason
04:02 PM CaptHindsight: Loetmichel: they aren't rounding up the teachers, scientists, engineers etc yet, but they wish they could
04:02 PM Wolf__: they need to ban all the guns first to do that
04:03 PM CaptHindsight: self police and peer socialization
04:04 PM CaptHindsight: like getting people to buy their own tracking devices and bonus points for getting them to spend >$1k for doing so, every year on new models
04:05 PM gregcnc: the more you borrow, the better the economy
04:05 PM gregcnc: that's why we love the credit card
04:07 PM CaptHindsight: get the masses the masses to voluntarily cooperate with their owners
04:11 PM CaptHindsight: Loetmichel: hah, yes, similar
04:13 PM CaptHindsight: "Washington, Berlin (dpo) - After the threat has not caught with a troop withdrawal , the US is changing its tactics. Now they announced as a possible sanction to withdraw all McDonald's branches from the Federal Republic, Germany should not increase its defense spending drastically."
04:13 PM Deejay: gn8
04:13 PM Loetmichel: gregcnc: hmmm... my account is actually 8keur in the positive... what am i doing wrong?
04:14 PM Loetmichel: CaptHindsight: yes, i laighend my ass of over that one ;)
04:14 PM Loetmichel: laughed
04:14 PM CaptHindsight: still laughing
04:14 PM gregcnc: even if you pay your CC balance, it "creates" money every time you use it
04:14 PM Loetmichel: ... and i dont even HAVE a CC
04:15 PM gregcnc: right it's not a Euro thing
04:15 PM gregcnc: everything is bank transfers
04:18 PM Loetmichel: ok, that was a lie.. i have a Visa... but its on the account of my wife and for "emergencys"... last time i used it is more than a year ago to pay something from aliexpress
04:18 PM Loetmichel: for less than 10 eur
04:18 PM Loetmichel: in europe the "EC" debit card is usually sufficient, and everything online uses paypal
04:18 PM Loetmichel: :-)
04:20 PM Loetmichel: but i think thats a mentality thing
04:21 PM gregcnc: so I need a bigger mill, but I'd probably have to wait a while to get a robodrill is there anything a step down worth having?
04:21 PM Loetmichel: we dont have a house, we live in a rented appartment because we never got enough positive balance to buy a house. and we both agreed to not buy a house on credit
04:22 PM Loetmichel: whats a robodrill?
04:23 PM gregcnc: https://www.ebay.com/itm/254310898175
04:29 PM gregcnc: Or I put myself through the torture of another Emco, which may need a retrofit and uses proprietary tooling, but is small and the price is right and is still larger than what I had
04:45 PM gloops: 14k is nothing to a yank
04:46 PM gregcnc: yes, I'll just put it on my credit card
04:48 PM gloops: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Bridgeport-VMC-760-CNC-Milling-Machine-With-FANUC-O-Mate-control/323877103317?
04:53 PM _unreal_: GOD what a pain in the ass this impetigo my daughter has right now is... never fails thanks to her mother. every time I get her back from her mother the child is broken some how some way
04:53 PM _unreal_: this time she came back with fucking impetigo WTF...
04:53 PM _unreal_: and school starts tomorrow
04:54 PM XXCoder: whats impetigo
04:54 PM gregcnc: little kids sick? no way
04:55 PM _unreal_: XXCoder, google
04:56 PM XXCoder: so kid got google eh? isnt that huge company
04:56 PM _unreal_: luckly its just around one side of her mouth and a few tiny locations on her face and one dot on one of her legs
04:57 PM JT-Shop: we never had fun shit like that when I was a kid
04:57 PM Tom_L: nope
04:57 PM Tom_L: hardly ever sick either
04:58 PM _unreal_: JT-Shop, thats because when we were kids there were a fraction of illegal aliens in the country
04:59 PM XXCoder: so is your kid mother an illegal alien? you initially blamed her
05:00 PM gloops: thats easy cured these days with some simple cream
05:00 PM _unreal_: no.. she is not but her bastard child's father is an illegal alien who was deported last year
05:00 PM gloops: impetigo - not being an illegal alien
05:01 PM Tom_L: sounds like a little more than we need to know
05:01 PM _unreal_: my Xwife, divorces he, screws some one else, screws some one else, screws some one else, marries a guy 2x her age and screws some one else, screws some one else, get preg with an illegal alien, leaves him out of the blue...
05:01 PM JT-Shop: there were no aliens where I grew up...
05:01 PM _unreal_: list goes on
05:01 PM _unreal_: Tom_L, :) yep
05:01 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, just bears
05:02 PM _unreal_: bear=good eating
05:02 PM gloops: first catch your bear..
05:02 PM * _unreal_ misses summer in maine. going down to the ocean, getting a shit load of illegal razor clams very tasty
05:03 PM _unreal_: I'd now and then take my sail boat out. if I went by the salmon pens and someone was there they'd let me toss a line in and get a HUGE @#$% salmon
05:03 PM gloops: i get a very picturesque vision of your town _unreal_ lol
05:04 PM _unreal_: in the middle of the summer I could get 5gal bucket of calamari at night time at certian piers that have lights
05:04 PM gregcnc: razor clams without visas?
05:04 PM _unreal_: gloops, bar harbor maine
05:04 PM _unreal_: err south west harbor sorry
05:04 PM _unreal_: visa?
05:05 PM Tom_L: green card
05:05 PM gregcnc: documented alien vs illegal alien
05:05 PM _unreal_: I dont get it. were talking clams here
05:05 PM _unreal_: dinner
05:05 PM Tom_L: we are
05:05 PM gregcnc: illegal clams
05:05 PM JT-Shop: yep bears, fox, mink, badgers and skeeters but no alligators
05:06 PM gloops: well, theres shelffish on the coast here, a lot of people are cautious about eating them now though
05:06 PM gregcnc: fuck gators, nope ropes, and venomous spiders
05:06 PM _unreal_: gloops, red tied always a risk
05:06 PM _unreal_: tide
05:06 PM gloops: they suck up a lot of heavy metals
05:07 PM gloops: you wouldnt even want to go in the sea
05:07 PM _unreal_: gloops, here in south florida we have tree chickens
05:07 PM _unreal_: unlimited season
05:07 PM gloops: what are tree chickens?
05:08 PM _unreal_: one sec
05:08 PM _unreal_: https://www.sun-sentinel.com/features/fl-reg-eating-iguana-south-florida-invasive-20180627-story.html
05:09 PM gloops: Unfortunately, our website is currently unavailable in most European countries.
05:09 PM gloops: iguanas theyre lizards
05:09 PM _unreal_: sounds like big brother doesnt want you getting news from other sources
05:10 PM gloops: yes they dont want us knowing the truth
05:11 PM _unreal_: as I was mentioning to Loetmichel before about the NEWS and being FAKE
05:11 PM gloops: only thing worth poaching here is rabbits, pheasants and deer
05:11 PM Wolf__: no one wants their country to be influenced by what happens in florida
05:11 PM gregcnc: lol^
05:11 PM gloops: not many bother with rabbits now, i am partial to rabbit stew though...
05:13 PM _unreal_: I've seen lots of rabbits
05:13 PM _unreal_: but mainly at disny
05:13 PM _unreal_: disney
05:13 PM gloops: like a lot of things, used to be peasant food - now a top price delicacy
05:14 PM * JT-Shop pulls the last parts out of the powder coat oven and gets his Sunday beer
05:15 PM Loetmichel: gloops: why id i read peaseants and asked myself: "hmm, do they taste really like chicken?" ;)
05:16 PM Loetmichel: +d
05:16 PM Loetmichel: JT-Shop: selfbuilt oven?
05:16 PM gloops: not far off chicken, a bit richer flavour
05:16 PM Loetmichel: gloops: peasants, as in "not royal" humans
05:16 PM Loetmichel: :-)
05:17 PM gloops: oh peasants heh
05:17 PM gloops: theyre easier to pluck
05:17 PM JT-Shop: Loetmichel: not yet, using the pottery kiln for the time being
05:17 PM Loetmichel: ah
05:18 PM Loetmichel: think is feasible to biolt a powedercoat oven and "painting corner" for company use, to do a few PC enclosures a week?
05:18 PM Loetmichel: or do you need "professional equiment" for that?
05:18 PM gloops: wood pigeon is another - nobody bothers with those anymore, the country is crawling with them, but go to a posh restaurant - pigeon with a few figs and salad £40 starter
05:19 PM JT-Shop: no, it's pretty easy... you do need clean parts
05:19 PM Loetmichel: back in the days we used to kill pigeons with slingshots and ballbearing balls. you got a few DM for each dead one you brought to the city.
05:20 PM Loetmichel: nowadays that would be "poaching".
05:20 PM gloops: theyre vermin here, i could get plenty with the air rifle but i dont like them, wouldnt go to the trouble
05:20 PM Loetmichel: JT-Shop: hmm. i was thinking to do that for the company
05:20 PM Loetmichel: to do "repairs"
05:21 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, what do you use to attract the spray to the part?
05:21 PM Loetmichel: and prototypes
05:21 PM JT-Shop: 20,000 volts
05:21 PM Tom_L: what source?
05:21 PM Loetmichel: the series usually get made by a pro.
05:21 PM Tom_L: sign transformer?
05:21 PM JT-Shop: no, it's built into the powder coat gun
05:21 PM Tom_L: ahh
05:21 PM Loetmichel: isnt a sign transfomer high power?
05:22 PM Loetmichel: i would ratehr use one that can only do <8mA
05:22 PM JT-Shop: Loetmichel: I use a Redline
05:22 PM Tom_L: high voltage for sure
05:22 PM Loetmichel: like a CRT transformer
05:23 PM JT-Shop: give it a try... then get a powder coat gun
05:23 PM Loetmichel: especially because one eventually touches both parts while working with the gun
05:23 PM JT-Shop: for repairs unless it's fresh you need to blast all the old coating off
05:23 PM Loetmichel: and even CRT transformers HURT... i know from experience ;)
05:23 PM Loetmichel: i know
05:24 PM Loetmichel: you dont need to sandblast though
05:24 PM Loetmichel: a 80 grid band on the belt grinder is good enough
05:24 PM Loetmichel: been there done that a few times
05:24 PM Loetmichel: we have 3mm sheet aluminium enclosures
05:24 PM Loetmichel: plenty of material to correct "mistakes" ,)
05:25 PM JT-Shop: depends on the quality of finish desired
05:25 PM Loetmichel: as we usually have "fine structure matte" powder coat: doesent matter MUCH
05:26 PM Loetmichel: 80 grit sanding scratches disappear
05:26 PM Loetmichel: tested that ;)
05:27 PM * JT-Shop waddles down to the chicken yard...

06:10 PM Choscura: I'm happy this exists
06:10 PM CaptHindsight: this channel?
06:12 PM gregcnc: plenty of big cheap iron out there, but I have limited space
06:12 PM CaptHindsight: what size yah needs?

06:53 PM MacGalempsy: hello
06:53 PM infoproxy: hello
06:54 PM Tom_L: hi
06:54 PM MacGalempsy: everyone staying cool today?
06:55 PM infoproxy: at times
06:55 PM Tom_L: 93F
07:03 PM MacGalempsy: yep it was up in near 100f today... a scorcher
08:03 PM XXCoder: last july was hotterst july ever.
08:06 PM Choscura: soooo I had a score find of a dumpster dive last night
08:06 PM Choscura: saw some peg board on the ground when I was out on a walk, drove over later to get it
08:06 PM Choscura: found 8x what I thought was there <I use pegboard as easy break-apart pre-perforated MDF, so this isn't just tool hangers for me>
08:07 PM Choscura: walked over to a bin
08:07 PM Choscura: found 4x 3/8" threaded rods, decent quality cast iron or similar <will figure that out later, ferromagnetic and not hardened, probably cold rolled, but still, a usable piece of metal>
08:07 PM Choscura: looked in the bin with a light
08:08 PM Choscura: found 4 antique axe heads, of different varieties
08:08 PM Choscura: like, one the size of a shovel blade, flat on one side with a single sided edge, one two sided and 1/4 that size, two half the size of *that*,
08:09 PM Choscura: then, two good condition mag-light bodies <probably going to be raspberry pi body cases for other projects>
08:10 PM Choscura: aaaand couple other random small things like that. some good extruded aluminum bits, one which might make a few good cross rail type pieces, one square tube an inch on a side and pre straightened
08:10 PM Choscura: I wouldn't call it machinists straight but suitable for my purposes
08:10 PM XXCoder: nice
08:11 PM Choscura: I thought so :D
08:11 PM Choscura: didn't go for the stacks of used-but-apparently-washed disposable baking pans, lol
08:20 PM _unreal_: XXCoder, I'm in florida. I'm USE TO THE HEAT
08:20 PM _unreal_: just like miami
08:21 PM _unreal_: ;)
08:21 PM _unreal_: heat
08:21 PM XXCoder: you are of use to heat eh?
08:21 PM XXCoder: https://images-ext-2.discordapp.net/external/mbAMmTq4x-1EaooHr_1I4FJD4z8OlCnoCGhvNMgzcBY/https/i.imgur.com/xhvqMzY.mp4 how about this heat?
08:22 PM _unreal_: XXCoder, who hasn't roasted a pig in a a lava pit I mean honestly
08:42 PM CaptHindsight: more R pi 4 issues:
08:42 PM CaptHindsight: the board comes shipped without any antistatic protection (no conductive bag)
08:43 PM CaptHindsight: no heatsink is installed so it slows the cpu if you run just about anything
08:43 PM CaptHindsight: if you try to run a 4k monitor it will throttle itself down and not run the monitir unless you add a heatsink
08:44 PM CaptHindsight: idle temp at 24C ambient is ~60C
08:44 PM CaptHindsight: so you get a 4k screen for a second or so then it drop the res since it gets too hot
08:45 PM CaptHindsight: thanks for not telling us this Rpi organization
08:45 PM CaptHindsight: maybe it's chinese run now
08:54 PM Choscura: hey CaptHindsight, adding a heatsink has been standard advice since the pi 1, they're cheaply available, and the thermal paste syringes are also useful
08:55 PM Choscura: I *think* i recall something about this being the first version where they recommend active cooling <fans> but not sure if that's a brain fart
09:03 PM CaptHindsight: depends on if you want conduction convection only or forced convection for cooling
09:04 PM CaptHindsight: Choscura: the pi4 idles so close to power management throttle down so close that it's silly
09:05 PM CaptHindsight: use with LCNC will require a heatsink since the cpu will be kept at top speed
09:06 PM CaptHindsight: no throttle downs with real time!
09:08 PM CaptHindsight: does broadcom publicize the thermal resistance from core to case?
09:12 PM CaptHindsight: not sure if or when we will have a good preempt_rt kernel for the pi4
09:12 PM CaptHindsight: the RTAI dev already hates it
09:18 PM Rab: CaptHindsight, is that the extent of the issues you've identified in your organization, or are there more?
09:19 PM Rab: (Ignoring publicized stuff like the USB-C PD issue)
09:20 PM CaptHindsight: Rab: currently using the Rpi3 for a few days and then going back to LCNC development
09:21 PM CaptHindsight: will re-explore the pi's if the current application is too buggy (nanodlp)
09:22 PM CaptHindsight: Rab: the documentation is poor and the forums are full of contradictory info
09:22 PM CaptHindsight: so we'd rather not waste time on this
09:23 PM CaptHindsight: if we come across a group that actually has clear and correct info we might explore the pi's further
09:23 PM Rab: CaptHindsight, all of the above noted, thanks.
09:23 PM CaptHindsight: for reliable LCNC and Rpi4 I'd say write a good u-boot version and use gentoo
09:24 PM CaptHindsight: use QEMU for building on x86 for it
09:24 PM CaptHindsight: u-boot should control all the power management and speed stepping up/down so the user or an application can't mess with it further
09:25 PM CaptHindsight: then build a preempt_rt kernel with only the features required and with power management, speed stepping locked down as much as possible so users or applications can't mess with it while running real time threads
09:27 PM CaptHindsight: Rab: honestly we'd have to do all that first and then see if the Rpi is stable enough for supporting paying customers
09:28 PM CaptHindsight: we don't know what we don't know yet, especially with Raspian
09:29 PM CaptHindsight: whats kernel compile time on the pi4? it's a few minutes on x86 for the pi4 using QEMU
10:16 PM _unreal_: I just had bearing failure

10:24 PM _unreal_: I think google fucked something up. those links shouldnt require logging in
10:24 PM _unreal_: I kept hearing this wierd crunching sound
10:25 PM _unreal_: know I guess I know what it is/was
10:25 PM _unreal_: I believe I have some replacements brb
10:25 PM _unreal_: amazingly even with out the lower retainer my cnc is still very rigid
10:25 PM _unreal_: does not want to pull away
10:27 PM _unreal_: So according to my count thats 75,000 cycles on X
10:27 PM _unreal_: before my bearing died
10:27 PM _unreal_: then again THAT bearing is a really cheap one from of all places I believe radio shack
10:27 PM _unreal_: err sorry "the late radio shack"
10:27 PM XXCoder: heh you might want my 75$ bearing
10:27 PM _unreal_: ;)
10:27 PM XXCoder: may be way too huge tho ;)
10:28 PM XXCoder: was scrap from big cnc machine
10:28 PM _unreal_: I cant believe my cnc killed its first part
10:28 PM _unreal_: then again those two retainer bearings are the ONLY two of there kind on the entire machine
10:32 PM Wolf__: just need two of these https://i.imgur.com/VLg6PhL.jpg
10:32 PM XXCoder: erm not sure
10:32 PM XXCoder: isnt that small?
10:32 PM _unreal_: that little pussy
10:32 PM _unreal_: Wolf__, you should see some of the shaft bearings I've delt with on the big mega yachts
10:34 PM Wolf__: yeah I bet
10:34 PM _unreal_: HEH if I can find the photo you should see the under water exhaust I built for a MEGA yacht.
10:34 PM _unreal_: 16" ID under water exhaust
10:34 PM _unreal_: err no 18 inch
10:35 PM Wolf__: same dull shit at my shop https://i.imgur.com/ELEEatG.jpg except that we are in a “new” location now
10:41 PM _unreal_: lol
10:42 PM _unreal_: lucky for me I have a tone of these RED bearings left stil
10:43 PM _unreal_: now the pain in the ass part. trying to get it put back on
10:44 PM Wolf__: looking at the groove bent in to that u-bolt I wonder if there wasn’t too much preload on that bearing lol
10:47 PM Wolf__: damn, https://www.amazon.com/FlameTech-FTEZ-15-Scorpion-Complete-Assembly/dp/B06ZZ62BTD I might need to make my own with a stepper driver for doing frame cuts on trucks… either that or I’m going to break down and buy a metal cutting circular saw tomorrow
10:52 PM _unreal_: Wolf__, could be
10:52 PM _unreal_: I wouldnt put it past it..
10:53 PM _unreal_: My gauge for how tight it is is if the bearings feel free or if they feel like the the ball bearings are binding as I push
10:53 PM _unreal_: I didnt feel any binding
10:55 PM _unreal_: Wolf__, doing that is as hard as an arduino and a single stepper motor controller
10:56 PM _unreal_: I mean HELL ATTINY, START/STOP reset and a POT set to middle resistance as nutural. then +/- as directon and speed
10:56 PM _unreal_: and a limit switch
10:57 PM _unreal_: ! HELLL you got an I/O left over
11:00 PM _unreal_: wolf how's your coding?
11:04 PM Choscura: CaptHindsight, I'm idling here and all the other channels on this pi terminal machine
11:04 PM _unreal_: pi terminal?
11:05 PM Wolf__: my coding sucks, but I can cut and paste pretty well lol
11:05 PM Choscura: yeah, just a pi 3b+ with standard raspbian and pi hole and a few other devbox toys
11:05 PM Choscura: Wolf__, go get on github, find what's doing something like what you want, and decode how it's doing that
11:05 PM _unreal_: I'm not great at coding but I could generate that ok
11:06 PM Wolf__: I was thinking more along the lines of arduino, I2c display so I can dial in the IPM on the stepper
11:06 PM Choscura: I need to get to the point of actually working on my ideas. I'm trying to podcast tomorrow to get an initial CNC machine up to do 3d printing and routing
11:07 PM _unreal_: you could but the difference between just having a POT with a speed indicator and an LCD are very minor
11:07 PM _unreal_: your not likely to exceed more then 20 +/- 10%
11:07 PM Wolf__: I kinda want to do a small x/y for this crap https://i.imgur.com/wo2M5R4.jpg
11:07 PM _unreal_: material thickness
11:08 PM Wolf__: the speed varies largely when going from thin to thick on the plasma
11:09 PM _unreal_: RIGHT as I said your not going to see much more then a 20% OVER ALL difference in cutting speed
11:09 PM _unreal_: from cutting 1/8 to 1"
11:09 PM _unreal_: because it also depends on how you "set your flame"
11:10 PM Wolf__: plasma cutter
11:10 PM Choscura: I have an idea for a CNC dynamic positional modeling system using cameras and traditional measuring equipment like rulers
11:10 PM Wolf__: not torch
11:10 PM _unreal_: oh oh oh oh
11:10 PM _unreal_: SORRY
11:10 PM Wolf__: =D
11:10 PM Choscura: underwater plasma?
11:10 PM _unreal_: plasma I dont have a great deal of working knowlage :(
11:11 PM Wolf__: I wish, I dont think the trucks will fit in a water table lol
11:11 PM _unreal_: tourch on the other hand
11:11 PM Choscura: hey, anybody here do anything with robot arms?
11:11 PM _unreal_: GOD I cant believe my machine killed a bearing
11:11 PM Choscura: lol believe it, bearings are temporary
11:12 PM _unreal_: Choscura, this entire room is about robots
11:12 PM Choscura: I should have been specific, I mean robot arms
11:13 PM _unreal_: are you talking motoman?
11:13 PM Wolf__: if I knew what I was doing I would go for a arm setup for my plasma lol
11:13 PM _unreal_: zoommmm zoooooommm zoom zom zoooooom
11:13 PM _unreal_: yep
11:14 PM _unreal_: would be cool to have a motoman arm for CNC
11:14 PM _unreal_: oh Wolf__ my little 12v car vacuum is doing a great job for my cnc
11:14 PM Wolf__: lol nice
11:15 PM Wolf__: >.< I need a fume extractor for my shop
11:15 PM _unreal_: for selding?
11:15 PM _unreal_: weld
11:15 PM Wolf__: yeah, welding and cutting
11:15 PM _unreal_: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1F5s6xBdRxLrJgMwGAIW4Xom1mqE-BZVZ
11:16 PM Wolf__: hah looks like you need a dust cyclone separator
11:16 PM _unreal_: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07VPKM5QM/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
11:17 PM _unreal_: it does not have the power to use one :(
11:17 PM _unreal_: maybe if I built one small enough
11:17 PM _unreal_: but TRUST me the thing is not very powerful
11:17 PM _unreal_: its a 12v car vacuum
11:17 PM Wolf__: yeah, doesnt look it
11:18 PM Wolf__: bucket head vac probably has more suck
11:18 PM _unreal_: so I'm using one of my extra 12v cnc psu's for it
11:18 PM _unreal_: likely
11:18 PM _unreal_: but this thing draws 3/4's of an amp from the outlet
11:18 PM _unreal_: AC outlet
11:19 PM _unreal_: I think its drawing like 12v 4-5amps
11:19 PM Wolf__: and you could build the suck port in to a bucket and cap the vac port on the bucket head so it would spin the dust down vs in to the filter…
11:19 PM MarcelineVQ: if your shavings aren't too fine another option instead of a cyclone is just a lidded garbage can and your tube goes in one side near the top and out the other side near the top, large particles can fall as they pass the gap
11:19 PM MarcelineVQ: or a bigger bottom on your vacuum would do similar
11:19 PM _unreal_: heh
11:19 PM _unreal_: its fine for now
11:20 PM Wolf__: https://www.homedepot.com/p/Bucket-Head-5-Gal-1-75-Peak-HP-Wet-Dry-Vac-BH0100/202017218
11:20 PM _unreal_: I'm thinking I'm going to build a vacuum box using an RC quad copter brushless and a nicer balanced impeller from a cheap vacuumn
11:21 PM _unreal_: There is no reason I couldnt get GREAT preformance at very low power using an RC brushless
11:21 PM _unreal_: and they run at higher RPM then a vacuum would
11:21 PM _unreal_: and I would have speed control on the ESC
11:21 PM _unreal_: Wolf__, I know you know what I'm talking about
11:22 PM Wolf__: yeah, sounds like too much work to me lol
11:22 PM * _unreal_ moment of silence....... NO argument hence I'm content to use the little vac as it is for now
11:23 PM Wolf__: but I have like no spare time at the current
11:23 PM _unreal_: its loud it doesnt suck as strong as I would like but considering its capturing 95-99% of everything my cnc makes. I'm happy
11:24 PM _unreal_: funy you should say that. I've had so many people tell me to stop waisting my time on IRC
11:24 PM Wolf__: lol
11:24 PM Wolf__: speaking of, I need to go to bed, need to be at the shop in the AM (and not 11am for once)
11:42 PM roycroft: _unreal_: i've wasted the best years of my life on irc
11:42 PM roycroft: don't let anyone tell you not to do so
11:50 PM jesseg: lol
11:58 PM _unreal_: heh
11:58 PM _unreal_: yarp
11:58 PM _unreal_: I've been on IRC since? 96 I believe
11:58 PM _unreal_: I stared off in the warez channels
