12:04 AM Tom_L: hazzy-m around?
12:08 AM Tom_L: ahh, nevermind.. i figured it out
02:30 AM Deejay: moin
02:31 AM gloops: morning
02:40 AM XXCoder: pretty cool https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iWipXtY8Qh0
02:41 AM XXCoder: hes fixing conkers game for n64. pretty rare game
02:41 AM XXCoder: hes using green nails paint now
02:43 AM XXCoder: ninedo got really pissed off when rareware released the game
02:43 AM XXCoder: its the only r rated n64 game ever.
02:49 AM gloops: making raddits, well hares to be precise https://ibb.co/RgXf1B3
02:49 AM XXCoder: related: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pmu5sRIizdw
02:52 AM XXCoder: man that rbbit is dangerous lol
02:52 AM gloops: you have to wonder what role psychadelic drugs played in the script writing lol
02:53 AM XXCoder: i'd guess most of em.
02:54 AM XXCoder: drugs wasnt involved in actual action of writing, and acting.
02:55 AM XXCoder: if police went in with test strips it'd be triggered before police actually entered building with writers in it though heh
02:57 AM gloops: the kids program 'magic roundabout' was later analysed as a drug induced hallucination
02:57 AM XXCoder: ironic that alice in wonderland wasnt
02:57 AM XXCoder: its a logic college class book.
03:00 AM gloops: he was a mathematician - not a writer
03:00 AM XXCoder: if I recall right he wrote only 2 books
03:00 AM gloops: well obviously a pretty good writer as well, but maths was Lewis Carolls first subject
03:01 AM XXCoder: https://www.librarything.com/author/carrolllewis
03:01 AM gloops: and his poem Jabberwocky
03:01 AM XXCoder: many of those is re-releases, different langiages etc
03:02 AM gloops: makes nonsense of grammar, which is really logic
04:47 AM gloops: was given a table saw last week, bloke said he was throwing it out as had vibration in motor - Erbauer TS10
04:48 AM gloops: so i said ill have a look at it - if its repairable ill sort it, if not ill throw it out
04:48 AM gloops: still surprised by the sheer crappiness of the stuff theyre selling as tools these days
04:49 AM jthornton: morning
04:49 AM gloops: fault was only top bearing in motor..but..the whole thing is just a pile of crap, £200 new, i wouldnt have one given (again) lol
04:50 AM XXCoder: lol
04:50 AM XXCoder: you could turn it into specialist table saw
04:50 AM XXCoder: like plastic sheet cutter
04:51 AM gloops: you can just move the motor/around by pulling the mountings gently, the motor is plastic lol, the top is cupped, nothing at all about it is any good
04:51 AM gloops: motor/spindle
04:52 AM XXCoder: crazy
05:18 AM gloops: thats a lot more motor noise than mine
05:18 AM XXCoder: 100% silent to me heh
05:19 AM gloops: well it doesnt bother me, just like to keep the neighbours happy
05:19 AM XXCoder: yeah thats what im wondering about
05:19 AM XXCoder: i need to add some partial soundproof walls for my cnc machine
05:21 AM gloops: they probably dont even notice, think its me being paranoid, but id rather there was definitely nothing to complain about
05:22 AM XXCoder: i was also thinking about making "rubber that doesnt bounce" feet for machine also
05:22 AM XXCoder: anti-vibration means less noice
05:22 AM XXCoder: feom that source anyway
05:23 AM gloops: yeah it will travel out through the floor
05:24 AM XXCoder: hockey pucks was my plan
05:24 AM XXCoder: with proper setup it can hold up very heavy loads, though my machine is hardly that.
05:25 AM XXCoder: drill, counterbore then with it, add washer that fits counterbore, bolt.
05:26 AM XXCoder: on machine side 3 nuts
05:26 AM gloops: could do with 200 car floor mats to lag everything
05:26 AM XXCoder: one to hold togeter the puck, and 2 to hold machine to hockey puck
05:26 AM XXCoder: making it adjustable.
05:27 AM gloops: it will travel down the bolt, nails or screws in any soundproofing sheets
05:27 AM XXCoder: yeah bolt dont touch anything but machine and washer.
05:27 AM XXCoder: surface is touched by hockey puck rubber alone.
05:29 AM XXCoder: would be interesting to do double isolation but doubtful that'd be strong enough, or backlash free
05:29 AM gloops: yeah that save some vibrations going to floor
05:30 AM XXCoder: bolts would touch only 2 washers. two pucks, one held by machine, and one touching floor or surface
05:30 AM XXCoder: problem is bolts probably would be able to twist around since its not rigidly sert
05:40 AM XXCoder: gloops: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cmRXT7t-EPQ fun lol
05:40 AM XXCoder: he tries weird stuff as colorant for resin
05:40 AM Tom_L: morning
05:41 AM XXCoder: morning
05:41 AM Tom_L: jthornton, you find my note about saving sessions in mate?
06:34 AM jthornton: yes, thanks
09:08 AM gregcnc: https://youtu.be/KNal1sW2Ihc
09:09 AM gregcnc: what's going on here? a wire in a guide poking the foam like a sewing machine?
09:32 AM Rab: gregcnc, apparently based on this: https://forum.flitetest.com/index.php?threads/cutting-foam-sheets-with-a-needle.24251/
09:33 AM Rab: "The papered foamboard is being held down with vacuum from small shop-vac plugged into router speed control at lowest setting to reduce the noise." Doesn't sound like ideal conditions for shop-vac survival.
09:34 AM Rab: This seems to be the project in the video: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:2520214
09:35 AM Rab: Pretty good price/performance, cuts materials like foam-core board that wouldn't work with hot wire.
09:35 AM gregcnc: the latest posts in the thread show the video i linked. 2500 posts inthat thread. Surprised I hadn't heard of it as I'm into RC, but not so much that type
01:34 PM fragalot: 'sup
02:55 PM abcabc__: Has anyone got an option set to run
02:56 PM abcabc__: linuxcnc iso 2.7 under qemu?
03:05 PM XXCoder: ohh https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IgHMXJLD4h8 looks like good one
03:13 PM XXCoder: lol it was
03:19 PM XXCoder: russia dolls how they do it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtFC4_UaPzI
04:36 PM Deejay: gn8
05:28 PM Tom_L: quiet day ehh
05:28 PM XXCoder: yep
05:28 PM XXCoder: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rnmcRTnTNC8 i feel very insecure now lol
05:56 PM XXCoder: perfect for tiny parts! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLCdZFXVl14
05:56 PM XXCoder: mini sandblaster
06:03 PM jthornton: morning XXCoder
06:03 PM XXCoder: hey jt whats up
06:08 PM XXCoder: okay so that mini air blaster thing cant take rust off
06:08 PM XXCoder: but i had great idea of using it as glass engraver thing
06:09 PM XXCoder: it can even be cnc-able, using "spindle" for level of air blasting power
06:16 PM SpeedEvil: With what abrasive?
06:18 PM XXCoder: looks like baking soda
06:18 PM XXCoder: he brings up commerical media but also says baking soda works just fine
06:19 PM jthornton: ah a soda blaster
06:19 PM XXCoder: it looks really simple to make lol all you need is round file, narrow brass tube, small plastic bottle, plastic tube, and air sprayer gun
06:19 PM jthornton: not much we went for a short ride around the lake on the bike
06:19 PM XXCoder: or whatever air sprayer is called
06:20 PM XXCoder: nice. its raining here and wont stop till summer. finally typical spring is here.
07:05 PM pink_vampire: hi
07:12 PM pfred1: hello
07:14 PM Elmo40: you can have the rain
07:14 PM pfred1: it's been dry here lately
07:14 PM Elmo40: i need dry weather for a few more days... lots to do outside before the real Spring arrives.
07:15 PM pfred1: the pond in my backyard finally dried up even
07:58 PM XXCoder: hey pink_vampire
07:59 PM XXCoder: taking a break from gaming to eat lol
08:00 PM pfred1: heh what you playing?
08:00 PM XXCoder: captain toad
08:00 PM XXCoder: unfortunately its boss fight. :( soon done
08:00 PM pfred1: not familiar with that one
08:00 PM XXCoder: love that game so much
08:00 PM pfred1: I play Doom 2
08:00 PM pfred1: with mods
08:01 PM XXCoder: its far more puzzle game than live action but theres some of latter
08:01 PM pfred1: I should try to jump on a server tonight
08:01 PM XXCoder: its wii u or switch gme
08:01 PM pfred1: I just got a new mouse
08:01 PM jdh: I bought some weird 3d card 20 years ago to play doom on my linux box
08:01 PM pfred1: a 3dfx?
08:02 PM pfred1: A Voodoo card
08:02 PM pfred1: I had one of them
08:02 PM pfred1: was for Quake
08:02 PM XXCoder: voodoo lol bought em when it was new
08:02 PM pfred1: got a mad 15 FPS with it at 800x600
08:02 PM pfred1: was leet
08:03 PM pfred1: now kids cry if they can't game at 100 FPS
08:03 PM XXCoder: lol
08:04 PM jdh: I think so.
08:04 PM jdh: it was in the 90s
08:05 PM pfred1: yeah that would have been a Voodoo 3dfx
08:05 PM jdh: yeah, with GLide
08:05 PM pfred1: with maybe a S3 virge graphics card
08:05 PM pfred1: I still love my GL
08:05 PM pfred1: but Quake didn't age as good as Doom did
08:06 PM XXCoder: i remember now creaky old rumor that voodoo was making video card that needed wall power when voodoo closed down
08:06 PM pfred1: Doom is freaking amazing today
08:06 PM Elmo40: plug into house voltage?
08:06 PM XXCoder: yeah.
08:07 PM XXCoder: it was pretty belivable as final market one needed 2 connectors inside for power
08:07 PM XXCoder: as well as bus power
08:07 PM Elmo40: oh how things have changed
08:08 PM Elmo40: now kids play on their phones...
08:08 PM pfred1: I try to not go too crazy with power requirements
08:08 PM XXCoder: heh som watches would be able to mop around first computer i had, and fool them into voting republican :P
08:08 PM pfred1: all I have is a GTX 750 ti
08:08 PM XXCoder: *current watches
08:09 PM XXCoder: well off to captain toad, that dam bird needs kicking around.
08:09 PM pfred1: heh have fun
08:11 PM pfred1: I spend all kinds of time learning how ot use FreeCAD then I go to export a file in DXF format and it can't do it
08:12 PM pfred1: open source ya just gotta love it
08:13 PM pfred1: because damned if i can figure out how their CAM plugin works
09:12 PM Elmo40: i couldn't get into FreeCAD
09:13 PM Elmo40: i was trained on SolidWorks, but before that, CadKey.
09:14 PM Elmo40: FreeCAD just never clicked with me, neither does anything by autodesk.
09:16 PM Elmo40: I was wondering what happened to my 3D prints... I must have accidentally turned off retraction. This last print was basically a fuzzy box, LoL.
09:17 PM Elmo40: So many hairs to remove I might as well toss it out. Will take the same amount of time to clean it up than print a new one.
09:39 PM infornography: I <3 DB25
09:39 PM pink_vampire: infornography: ??
09:40 PM infornography: just nostalgic for the dying printer port
10:08 PM roycroft: for every time i've used a db25 connector that is a parallel printer port i've used at least 100 that are rs232 serial ports
10:09 PM roycroft: and that's somewhat remarkable, since de9 connectors almost completely supplanted db25 for rs232 a couple decades ago
10:57 PM XXCoder: finished captain toad, played some scabblenauts
10:57 PM XXCoder: wow fun
11:11 PM XXCoder: hey pink_vampire how things
11:11 PM pink_vampire: i got a white board
11:11 PM XXCoder: nice, to outline plans or whatever on eh?
11:12 PM pink_vampire: yeah
11:12 PM pink_vampire: just to make it easier to understand
11:13 PM XXCoder: its good ides
