12:17 AM XXCoder: watching myfordboy video. man hes using stuff that looks old but I watched video of making of them when it was new
12:21 AM XXCoder: 4 years ago already
01:25 AM fragalot: Mornin'
01:31 AM XXCoder: yo
01:32 AM TurBoss: morning
01:42 AM gloops: sides for british national beehive brood box = 225mm high, local timber yard 1 mile away has some beautiful 3/4 boards @ 218mm....
01:42 AM gloops: but no wider
01:42 AM fragalot: so glue up 2 122.5 boards
01:42 AM fragalot: (some math required
01:42 AM fragalot: )
01:43 AM gloops: lol, nah
01:46 AM fragalot: gloops: then rip the board in half, and glue the same board back together bookmatched. :-)
01:47 AM gloops: ill cut some 7mm strips pin/glue them on, im not clamping stuff up, lifes too short
01:47 AM fragalot: hack. :D
01:48 AM fragalot: the bees need only the finest woodworking
01:48 AM gloops: this is a 7mm wear strip, if the edge wears or gets damaged you can change it
01:48 AM fragalot: then why would you glue it
01:49 AM gloops: also you dont want to be glueing for outdoor really
01:49 AM gloops: ill glue it because it isnt really a wear strip lol
01:49 AM fragalot: as long as the grain runs in the same direction i've not had any issues glueing up outdoor things
01:49 AM gloops: unless someone notices
01:49 AM fragalot: but if the grain crosses,.. ooh boy :D
01:50 AM gloops: i could just make the frames 7mm shorter, the wax foundation comes in ready made sizes though, so that would need trimming
01:50 AM gloops: the whole thing snowballs in terms of labour and time
01:51 AM fragalot: make them the standard size, otherwise you'll just end up hating yourself
01:51 AM gloops: yes
02:36 AM Deejay: moin
04:01 AM pink_vampire: morning
04:04 AM XXCoder: hey
04:06 AM pink_vampire: hi, how are you
04:07 AM XXCoder: headache lol
04:07 AM XXCoder: you?
04:08 AM pink_vampire: wiringgggggggggg
04:08 AM pink_vampire: i have pile of 8 roles, and i need the blue wire that is in the bottom
04:09 AM jthornton: morning
04:09 AM pink_vampire: other than that, i need to re wire all the pilot devices
04:09 AM XXCoder: fun
04:09 AM pink_vampire: hi jthornton
04:09 AM XXCoder: yo
04:09 AM pink_vampire: no it is not all 14 awg wire
04:13 AM jthornton: bruised a rib trying to pull the battery out of the backhoe the other day now it's really tender
04:13 AM XXCoder: doh
04:13 AM XXCoder: broke a rib once, its not fun at all
04:15 AM jthornton: I broke one or more when I was in a wreck with myself once and yea it hurt for a long time
04:16 AM XXCoder: did you have realigning pain? I did lol
04:17 AM XXCoder: few months after it healed it hurt a little again few weeks, apparently rib will fuse first, but then later on re-align itself
04:19 AM pink_vampire: https://flyingkmachines.wordpress.com/
04:20 AM XXCoder: interesting. nice way to reuse old cast iron
04:20 AM XXCoder: theres always junkyards
04:22 AM pink_vampire: https://youtu.be/LBuUOO3qn30?list=PL9d6LkFNP1fGjdW2RxqSHdSO9D1FEl36c
04:24 AM jthornton: all I remember is not being able to take a deep breath due to pain and having to move very slow
04:25 AM XXCoder: pink_vampire: I like that video
04:28 AM XXCoder: amazing that guy uses lathe he made to upgrade itself
04:28 AM pink_vampire: i did it with my mill
04:29 AM XXCoder: nnice
04:29 AM XXCoder: my orginial plan was to build crappy wood cnc router to make better cnc router out of mdf
04:30 AM XXCoder: then use better one to make alum one
04:30 AM XXCoder: i moved on after i got job and could directly buy one lol
04:30 AM pink_vampire: same here. but i was end up with a mill
04:31 AM pink_vampire: and i think, a mill with tilting head is the most versatile tool
04:32 AM jthornton: yea a gingery lathe, his book built all kind of stuff
04:32 AM XXCoder: book?
04:34 AM jthornton: yea wrote a book on building a lot of metal working stuff with cast aluminum
04:34 AM XXCoder: oh cool
04:35 AM jthornton: somehow putube has enabled auto play again and there seems to be no way to turn it off
04:35 AM XXCoder: its special play list view you cant stop it
04:35 AM XXCoder: if you want to get out of it, edit url and remove &list=blahblah
04:36 AM XXCoder: index one also thats not needed without a list view
04:40 AM jthornton: tricky bugger
04:41 AM XXCoder: playlists is great if you want to just watch specific series
04:41 AM jthornton: oh I see ?list in the url now in the middle of all the gobbly gook
04:42 AM XXCoder: you just need ?v=blahblah for basic one video
04:44 AM jthornton: that's what I get for watching a video before the coffee is done
04:44 AM XXCoder: lol
04:46 AM XXCoder: i like his video about scraping
04:46 AM XXCoder: shows how to make reasonable flat surface
04:47 AM XXCoder: thats when having a rock is awesome
04:50 AM jthornton: yea it's a good video IMHO no fluff and wannabe acting lol
04:51 AM XXCoder: yeah
04:51 AM XXCoder: sometimes funny is good sometimes eh
05:02 AM pink_vampire: brb
05:11 AM pink_vampire: back
05:12 AM XXCoder: wb
05:15 AM pink_vampire: I'm on my laptop
05:15 AM pink_vampire: next to the panel
05:16 AM XXCoder: cool :)
05:19 AM pink_vampire: i need to update my ff
05:27 AM pink_vampire: someome what to help me?? https://i.imgur.com/L064nPF.png
05:28 AM XXCoder: dang lot of wires to setup
05:28 AM XXCoder: sure though I need plane ticket lol
05:30 AM pink_vampire: 4 for the Estop, 4 for the "start", 8 for the lights, and 4 for the main switch
05:56 AM pink_vampire: e-stop and start button -DONE!
05:56 AM fragalot: prove it
05:56 AM XXCoder: awesome :)
05:56 AM XXCoder: you're re-wiring it or what? i recall you finsihed with cabinet a while ago
05:57 AM XXCoder: also curious if you ordered some of those blue filters
05:59 AM pink_vampire: blue filters??
06:00 AM pink_vampire: I had some emf problems in the panel, because of high voltage wires cross low voltage signals
06:01 AM XXCoder: ahh ok
06:01 AM XXCoder: you remember when we talked about inlets for air special high flow filters
06:02 AM pink_vampire: so i decided to rearrange the panel and add one more wire duct to the high voltage wires
06:02 AM XXCoder: so conductive dust and other crap dont get in cabinet
06:02 AM pink_vampire: i got some $4 filters from lowes?? i was long time ago
06:03 AM pink_vampire: but i need to make a box
06:03 AM pink_vampire: i got it for the VFD
06:04 AM XXCoder: http://www.allstarsealing.com.sg/product/air-filter-blue-white/
06:05 AM pink_vampire: it is look like the stuff you put in the fish tank
06:07 AM XXCoder: lol
06:07 AM XXCoder: its fiber air filter, made for very high air flow but effective filtering
06:07 AM XXCoder: we use it everywhere at work machines air inlets
06:13 AM pink_vampire: XXCoder: you are working in a huge fish tank
06:13 AM XXCoder: lol
06:13 AM XXCoder: nah its cut into squares its held on by hooks side of velco
06:20 AM pink_vampire: last 6 wire (in the pilot devices)
06:20 AM XXCoder: :)
06:25 AM pink_vampire: now the main switch
06:29 AM pink_vampire: https://i.imgur.com/01zsbLq.png
06:30 AM XXCoder: ziplocs
06:30 AM XXCoder: nicely wired
06:30 AM fragalot: pro tip: leave a loosely fitting ziptie in the channel so the wires don't all fall out if you open it, yet you can string more through, or still follow a wire if you need to
06:32 AM XXCoder: interesting. that guy now uses co2 to get rid of hyrogen in alum
06:35 AM pink_vampire: fragalot: the wires in the channels all have abit extra wire (that save me alot of time)
06:36 AM pink_vampire: so i just make a u in the and of it, and leave it in the wire duct
06:36 AM fragalot: pink_vampire: yeah, the loose loop is more to be able to change things.. add a wire, or trace one if something doesn't work
06:37 AM pink_vampire: at the end i just add more zipties
06:42 AM pink_vampire: https://i.imgur.com/8aO2XWn.png
06:42 AM XXCoder: IT in me loves the clean wiring
06:52 AM pink_vampire: i'm in the last main switch wire
06:54 AM XXCoder: i'd like you to help me on wiring lol but i can't afford plane ticket, AND no shop to fix things in lol
07:00 AM pink_vampire: i can drive it
07:00 AM XXCoder: awesome, so cabinet is done eh
07:01 AM pink_vampire: what is the most up to date panasonic toughbook?
07:01 AM XXCoder: no idea, didnt even keep up with new tech lol
07:06 AM XXCoder: i was considering getting cheap gpd pocket or gpod win 1 or 2, but i got news that my zmax (videophone) is getting retired and im getting z7
07:06 AM XXCoder: and im keeping the zmax pc so i could overwrite os on it to get workspace pc.
07:06 AM XXCoder: just for irc and lookups etc
07:07 AM XXCoder: welcome back
07:07 AM pink_vampire: XXCoder: now I'm with my old 10" netbook
07:08 AM XXCoder: i still have my acer aspire one lol
07:08 AM XXCoder: tiny laptp.
07:17 AM pink_vampire: it is fine for irc and stuff
07:18 AM XXCoder: yeah
07:18 AM jthornton: lol I may not be here long it's raining hard again
07:18 AM XXCoder: my laptop have huge memory for early 90s, 512 mb ram ;)
07:22 AM pink_vampire: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XSOY8EoyOk8
07:22 AM pink_vampire: maybe you can upgrade to 2 or 4gb
07:23 AM XXCoder: nah max is 1 gb. its quite old laptop
07:23 AM XXCoder: besides i keep it as historical curiousity than anything else, it is first pc sold with ssd, AND it is first laptop sold with linux
07:24 AM pink_vampire: sometime bios update can anable you to add more ram
07:24 AM XXCoder: nah its essentally retired laptop
07:31 AM pink_vampire: https://www.ebay.com/itm/333093641689
07:31 AM XXCoder: not bad
07:35 AM pink_vampire: for 8GB it is about half the price
08:35 AM pink_vampire: https://i.imgur.com/jO5pJlM.png
08:35 AM pink_vampire: power supplies got connected
09:18 AM pink_vampire: all the pilot lights, main supply, E-stop loop, and the main contactor - DONE
09:19 AM pink_vampire: next is the 2 c10 boards, and the motors,
09:22 AM pink_vampire: next is the 2 c10 boards, and the motors,
09:29 AM jthornton: customer "can you tell me if you got my order yet?"
09:29 AM jthornton: me "what's your name?"
09:29 AM jthornton: me yes it shipped let me check tracking
09:29 AM jthornton: me it's in your mailbox since friday
09:29 AM jthornton: customer oh I didn't check the mail yesterday...
09:30 AM gregcnc: customers, can't do business without them
09:37 AM SpeedEvil: gregcnc: many people funded by venture capitalists would disagree.
09:38 AM gregcnc: sure rob them, and close up before you need customers
10:03 AM skunkworks: pink_vampire: did you see https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i6rJsCKzUK0
10:11 AM syyl_: look what followed me home, haha
10:11 AM syyl_: http://gtwr.de/div/emcosuper11_001.jpg
10:15 AM skunkworks: Nice lathe!
10:28 AM pink_vampire: skunkworks: yes,
10:29 AM pink_vampire: i need an advice for the c10 boards location
10:36 AM pink_vampire: is a speaker wire is bad for wiring?
10:37 AM pink_vampire: it is very flexible 18AWG wire
10:37 AM pink_vampire: it is very flexible 18AWG wire
10:38 AM pink_vampire: opss
10:40 AM pink_vampire: syyl_: I have the maximat 7
10:40 AM pink_vampire: I like the multifix you have there
10:41 AM syyl_: yeah, i already sold the multifix
10:41 AM syyl_: ;)
10:41 AM syyl_: i use another system
10:41 AM pink_vampire: whattttttttttt
10:41 AM pink_vampire: why
10:41 AM syyl_: because i prefer a system where i can machine my own holders without much trouble
10:41 AM syyl_: i have about 25...30 holders for my tripan qctp
10:41 AM syyl_: and i want more
10:42 AM pink_vampire: the point with the multifix is to use the same tool
10:43 AM pink_vampire: what qctp do you have?
10:43 AM syyl_: a tripan 111
10:43 AM syyl_: http://anglo-swiss-tools.co.uk/tripan-tool-posts/
10:44 AM pink_vampire: it is a wedge type?
10:48 AM syyl_: hmm
10:48 AM syyl_: more piston like
10:48 AM syyl_: but done right
10:48 AM syyl_: not the stupid way, the aloris-clones do it
10:49 AM syyl_: the aloris clones with piston push the toolholder away from the flat of the dovetail
10:49 AM syyl_: the tripan pulls it against the flat surface and makes it very rigid
10:49 AM syyl_: and highly repeatable
10:51 AM pink_vampire: why do you have alot of tools+
10:51 AM pink_vampire: ?
10:58 AM SpeedEvil: I only use a 14lb sledgehammer for all my machining needs.
11:08 AM fragalot: 'sup
01:30 PM gloops: dovetails are nice and all that, but my heart-tails will be a winner haha https://ibb.co/WVd6knK
01:30 PM gloops: 'lovers box' anything to do with love = +£50
01:31 PM gloops: idiots in love spend money irrationally
01:33 PM SpeedEvil: Balls.
01:34 PM gloops: youre saying that now SpeedEvil
01:34 PM gloops: wait while miss right comes along
01:34 PM gloops: youll be thinking what can i give her thats different, special
01:34 PM SpeedEvil: I was referring to the shape.
01:34 PM gloops: oh, yeah you start off with balls
01:36 PM JT-Shop: NOCO 1 year hassle free warranty... return product with 45% of MRP for exchange lol
01:37 PM gloops: sounds like a no lose contract - for them
01:42 PM JT-Shop: it's going back to the store monday lol
01:59 PM gloops: does look a bit less heartsy with tool radius https://ibb.co/mJtLDpt
02:06 PM Tom_L: clean em up with a smaller cutter
02:12 PM gloops: thats a 3.1mm, could go to 2mm i suppose
02:14 PM gloops: not bad, ill have to think about it https://ibb.co/yf7ZzBQ
02:15 PM SpeedEvil: Dovetail cutter in addition, and at right angles?
02:15 PM SpeedEvil: Though that makes fixturing more complex.
02:16 PM gloops: hmm, would need setting precisely in horizontal and vertical positions
02:16 PM gloops: thing with anything on the router, its got to be quick and minimal messing about
02:17 PM gloops: well, for me it has anyway
02:17 PM SpeedEvil: A filing attachment for corners might be nice for getting square corners.
02:19 PM gloops: probably the only way to remove the radius, some additional tool, file, scroll saw or something
02:19 PM gloops: to do it practically
02:19 PM gloops: or just chisel
02:20 PM gloops: would like nice if sharp corners i think
02:20 PM gloops: like = look
02:20 PM SpeedEvil: Something like power morticer or filer attachment I meant.
02:21 PM SpeedEvil: 'easy' way would be to swap out the spindle
02:23 PM gloops: cnc jigsaw
02:29 PM SpeedEvil: If only jigsaws weren't so bendy
02:30 PM SpeedEvil: Force and blade position sensing could help notably with that though.
02:36 PM gloops: bit of a dilemna, you cant have a cnc scroll saw, i.e blade supported both ends
02:37 PM fragalot: why not
02:37 PM gloops: not practical
02:37 PM SpeedEvil: Autothreading.
02:38 PM gloops: youd need a follower to the gantry, under the job
02:38 PM SpeedEvil: Sure.
02:38 PM gloops: so what does the job sit on?
02:38 PM fragalot: move the job, similar to a cnc sheet punch
02:39 PM gloops: you could if the job were fixed in an outer frame only
02:39 PM gloops: that the saw isnt going to cut through
02:39 PM fragalot: multiple clamp points on the side, yes
02:39 PM SpeedEvil: Or if you were doing something like the above jigsaw job (but internal) where you have a very robust workpiece you just want to trim up
02:40 PM gloops: and the job would need to rotate
02:40 PM fragalot: or the saw
02:40 PM fragalot: or use a spiral blade
02:41 PM gloops: ok ill make one
02:41 PM fragalot: :-)
02:42 PM gloops: all i really need is a heart shaped cutter
02:43 PM gloops: but when youre looking for things to make, and your machine doesnt make the thing you thought of, its probably better to think of something else that it can make
02:49 PM gloops: 24 radiuses to clean up on 2 sides of the box, thats 48, at 20 seconds per radius, 16 minutes
02:50 PM SpeedEvil: Indeed.
02:51 PM gloops: i would now be a slave working for the machine, the machine would be cutting box sides quicker than i can hand finish them
02:51 PM gloops: id be stressed and sweating trying to keep up, the machine would be relentless
03:16 PM * Loetmichel is just sitting in the bathtub... MAAAN that notebook here wasnt on in a long time... a few dozen windows updates... then steam updats. Then the virus killer. finally launching Elite Dangerous: "Client outdatet. Install ne one now?" %/&&$$& II JUST WANTED TO GAME A BT WHILE SOAKING!!!!11111oneeleven [pruning up while waiting]... /rant.
03:17 PM fragalot: pwnt
03:32 PM gregcnc: gloops if you can sell them all I don't think i would complain. If you sell too many raise the price
03:34 PM SpeedEvil: Or invest in a specially made broach that can punch them out at 8 per second.
03:36 PM gloops: youre right of course gregcnc, hand work is on the price, if it happens to be that magic something they decide theyll pay over the odds for its worth doing
03:37 PM gloops: SpeedEvil if something like that did sell well, you can guarantee the chinese will have them on a 10 second cut within a month
03:38 PM gregcnc: make your money while you can
03:39 PM gregcnc: some chinaco rep is probably here watching for ideas so you better hurry
03:39 PM gloops: lol, im sure ill still find a few a week to keep me going
03:53 PM gloops: china has only one advantage, price, theyre obsessed with it, they differ from the japanese who took good western products and improved them, the chinese strip all the good out of them and make them cheaper, but for many things you wouldnt buy cheap, like jewellery for a g/f
04:02 PM pcw_home: The best PCBs we've ever had were made in China
04:05 PM pcw_home: We've used USA, Mexico, Korea and Taiwan as sources, last USA boards we used were fairly poor but we needed US made because of contract restrictions
04:12 PM gloops: well obviously there are exceptions
04:14 PM miss0r: Finally! the camera trolleys are complete! https://imgur.com/nIMYBIN
04:15 PM Deejay: gn8
04:15 PM miss0r: Product was ordered friday 1th. design & drawings was made over the weekend. Materials got here monday afternoon. This was a pretty rushed order.
04:16 PM gloops: excellent job miss0r, this looks like some serious photography expedition
04:16 PM miss0r: gloops: Thanks. Yeah, these guys don't mess around when it comes to their camera equipment
04:19 PM miss0r: But it was a pretty close call. I got to work thursday at 03:00 in the morning, then proceeded to work all day until eleven ish. Then I slept til 01:00 friday morning/night and worked my ass off again to get it ready to be anodized at 07:00... hehe
04:19 PM miss0r: It feels good now that I see the finished product, but man was I tired. I had to talk myself through every button press on the CNC, to make sure I didn't crash anything.
04:21 PM gloops: funny thing, work never comes in at a steady 40 hours a week lol
04:22 PM miss0r: usualy for me it does, actualy.. well steady as in 60hour weeks, but steady nontheless
04:22 PM miss0r: gloops: What have you been up to lately? is your router still doing fine?
04:23 PM gloops: yeah everything still working, im too busy with other work atm to spend a lot of time on it
04:23 PM miss0r: Don't I know the feeling ;] Have you got any pictures of stuff you've made on it?
04:24 PM gloops: not many pics really, i made a vid or two of a few bits and bobs
04:25 PM miss0r: I'd like to see it:)
04:26 PM gloops: vertical surface i added a few weeks back, you might have seen it, can cut 8 boards at a time for box joints or dovetails https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J82ggHEGOt4
04:27 PM miss0r: how come you are not doing rapid movement in between cuts?
04:27 PM gloops: (that is very slow gcode for testing)
04:27 PM miss0r: ahh
04:27 PM miss0r: nice touch with the vertical plate :) I could've used something simular on my cnc machine doing this project.
04:28 PM miss0r: I had to drill and tap holes in the end of some of these workpieces in the drillpress, where I could have it hung over the table side
04:28 PM miss0r: that is not realy an option on the cnc, as the x-y travel is actualy a bit smaller than the table itself
04:28 PM gloops: it does add another dimension, lots of possibilities, with wood anyway
04:28 PM miss0r: indeed
04:29 PM gloops: the joints are bang on, ill sort some photos out in a few weeks when i get back to it, will be advertising them
04:29 PM miss0r: nice
04:29 PM miss0r: so they just slide together? (you gotta love that)
04:31 PM gloops: needs a tap - how i like it really lol, you can easily vary the fit with touch on or off the cut
04:31 PM miss0r: I'll hit the hay - Its gonna be nice to get off my feet. See you around
04:31 PM gloops: yep you can sleep soundly now youve finished the job
06:25 PM pink_vampire: hi
07:10 PM CaptHindsight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WY2sz7u9QM4&feature=youtu.be think this guy went to MIT

10:37 PM CaptHindsight: you want to keep it cool so it doesn't work harden
10:37 PM CaptHindsight: 304 sheet or solids? what size holes?
