02:33 AM Deejay: moin
02:37 AM SpeedEvil: hey
03:06 AM Wolfmetalfab is now known as Wolf__
03:19 AM CaptHindsight: BOOO
03:20 AM XXCoder: yah!!
03:20 AM CaptHindsight: sorry
03:20 AM XXCoder: some space humor http://portsherry.com/comic/you-had-to-be-there/
03:22 AM CaptHindsight: I've never seen that comic before
03:23 AM fragalot: mornin'
03:23 AM XXCoder: i just discovered it myself. 2008 started apparently
03:23 AM XXCoder: hey
03:24 AM CaptHindsight: fragalot: any snow?
03:24 AM XXCoder: i checked and dang this week will be very cold, reaching 18f at wed
03:24 AM XXCoder: not normal lol
03:24 AM CaptHindsight: 10C here today
03:24 AM fragalot: CaptHindsight: just ice
03:24 AM CaptHindsight: everything is melting
03:25 AM fragalot: it's been hovering around 0°C, both above & under in cycles here
03:25 AM fragalot: enough to smooth out the ice & snow, & then re-freeze
03:25 AM fragalot: like natures zamboni
03:25 AM CaptHindsight: fragalot: have you seen Desktop Metals printers?
03:25 AM CaptHindsight: metal powder with inkjet binder
03:25 AM fragalot: no
03:25 AM CaptHindsight: after printing you desktop sinter
03:26 AM fragalot: neat, any good?
03:26 AM CaptHindsight: but the parts are not dense that way
03:26 AM fragalot: and is it really "desktop" ?
03:26 AM CaptHindsight: well they raised like $40-100M so far
03:26 AM fragalot: they're not dense, no, but they have gotten good at infusing later if you don't need material purity
03:26 AM CaptHindsight: yes, works in an office setting with external venting
03:26 AM CaptHindsight: like a laser cutter
03:27 AM CaptHindsight: why i was looking at rapid mold making for casting
03:27 AM CaptHindsight: it gets you solid parts
03:28 AM CaptHindsight: but it's not desktop obviously
03:28 AM fragalot: yea
03:28 AM CaptHindsight: well it could be with a desktop foundry
03:28 AM CaptHindsight: lots of insulation
03:28 AM fragalot: still not something you'd likely do in your office :D
03:28 AM fragalot: up on the 4th floor
03:29 AM fragalot: surrounded by flammable materials
03:29 AM CaptHindsight: they are burning out resins
03:29 AM CaptHindsight: looks like a microwave
03:29 AM CaptHindsight: so red hot
03:30 AM CaptHindsight: I'm wonder what market they have or if they will be another flash in the pan
03:30 AM fragalot: both?
03:30 AM CaptHindsight: https://www.desktopmetal.com/products/production/
03:30 AM fragalot: niche market, but instill fear into the big boys & get bought up & put down
03:30 AM CaptHindsight: it's an inkjet with a m,etal powder bed
03:31 AM CaptHindsight: not sure buy possibly xaar heads
03:31 AM CaptHindsight: buy/but
03:31 AM fragalot: as I thought, they were very liberal with the term "desktop", lol
03:31 AM CaptHindsight: https://www.desktopmetal.com/products/studio/
03:31 AM CaptHindsight: the smaller one ^^
03:31 AM XXCoder: no, they arent, they are large enough to BE tables.
03:31 AM fragalot: the big ones I have seen
03:31 AM fragalot: and like I said, often later the parts are infused
03:32 AM CaptHindsight: a step they leave out of the info
03:32 AM fragalot: it's probably optional
03:32 AM CaptHindsight: As the part is heated to temperatures near melting, remaining binder is removed and metal particles fuse together causing the part to densify up to 96-99.8%.
03:32 AM fragalot: i've seen some manifold prototypes printed on them
03:33 AM CaptHindsight: ah so they remove the resin with solvent first
03:33 AM CaptHindsight: not burn out
03:33 AM fragalot: you can't burn carbon out of pores :P
03:34 AM CaptHindsight: some binder burn very well
03:34 AM CaptHindsight: <1% ash
03:34 AM CaptHindsight: the faster version sinters with the binder still in the powder
03:34 AM fragalot: still ash trapped in your part
03:36 AM CaptHindsight: so little it won't matter
03:36 AM CaptHindsight: resins are all hydrocarbons if they are pure
03:37 AM CaptHindsight: well i see that they have raised a ton of cash
03:37 AM CaptHindsight: not sure if they will be around in a few years
03:37 AM fragalot: y'know what I wouldn't mind?
03:38 AM fragalot: if battery operated tool manufacturers would (unlikely) agree on a standard to use
03:38 AM CaptHindsight: hah
03:38 AM fragalot: my shed does not have the free space to YetAnotherCharger
03:38 AM fragalot: let alone a stack of batteries
03:39 AM CaptHindsight: yeah I have several perfectly good drills with no batteries
03:39 AM fragalot: and whilst we're at it, they should standardize printer cartridges too
03:39 AM fragalot: :D
03:39 AM Rab: Seems unlikely...I think the tools are almost a loss leader to sell batteries.
03:39 AM fragalot: Rab: of course
03:40 AM gloops: agreed, i ran over a charger for litium impact driver - batteries wont fit any other charger, new charger - may as well buy another driver
03:40 AM CaptHindsight: I love my corded drills
03:40 AM CaptHindsight: I have bought new drills just for the batteries
03:40 AM fragalot: makita have been kind to us though, I have to say
03:41 AM fragalot: we've had a few worn out drills & wanted to buy new ones, with some batteries
03:41 AM fragalot: they replaced the old drills for free with brand new ones
03:41 AM `Wolf_: I have a crap ton of milwaukee m18 stuff, just found recently on amazon battery adapters from m12 to dewilt, ryobi and makita
03:41 AM fragalot: because they changed battery standards since
03:41 AM XXCoder: capt you could repair batteries by tryingn to charge it up, then testing single cells and swapping dead cells
03:41 AM CaptHindsight: XXCoder: yes I have
03:41 AM CaptHindsight: more projects
03:41 AM XXCoder: thats true
03:42 AM `Wolf_: err s/m12/m18
03:42 AM CaptHindsight: you need a crystal ball to see which brand to buy
03:43 AM CaptHindsight: some keep batteries for a few years, some change more often
03:43 AM `Wolf_: milwaukee posted a brag last week on face book that they haven’t changed battery mounting in 10 yrs
03:43 AM XXCoder: my drill batteries is super dead, its 15 years old lol
03:43 AM fragalot: my weed wacker runs on an AEG battery strapped on with velcro & faston connector jumper wires
03:43 AM fragalot: ._.
03:43 AM XXCoder: maybe can replace cells but eh
03:44 AM CaptHindsight: in China they just go buy "How many volts you want"
03:44 AM gloops: so one of you brainiacs with printing - design adaptors from makita to hitachi, bosch, whatever
03:44 AM fragalot: CaptHindsight: Makita has been quite good to us in terms of switching battery tech
03:44 AM gloops: the charger is the same its just the battery fitting
03:44 AM CaptHindsight: i think I got a bunch of Rigid
03:44 AM fragalot: gloops: mostly, yes
03:44 AM fragalot: what's also different is the amount of marketing wank
03:44 AM fragalot: "20V MAX!"
03:44 AM gloops: i bet they would sell like hot cakes
03:44 AM `Wolf_: I was going to print a adapter for M18 to the old v18 tools but fdm printing stocks
03:45 AM `Wolf_: sucks
03:45 AM fragalot: Wolf__: lol
03:45 AM `Wolf_: funny part is m18 and dewilt 20V max is the same cell count
03:45 AM CaptHindsight: you know thats not a bad idea, I wonder if they have the designs trademarked or patented?
03:46 AM fragalot: I would imagine so?
03:46 AM CaptHindsight: 100% compatible replacement batteries
03:46 AM `Wolf_: there are tool pack adapters on amazon
03:46 AM `Wolf_: I use M18 packs on Ryobi tools now
03:46 AM CaptHindsight: they try pretty hard on the enclosure design
03:46 AM `Wolf_: and my dewalt nailer
03:47 AM CaptHindsight: do they have smart batteries in them like a laptop?
03:47 AM `Wolf_: next I need to pick up the adapter so I can use them on the makita that has 2 dead packs
03:47 AM fragalot: I also wouldn't mind a european version of the portabands that seem popular in the US
03:47 AM CaptHindsight: do they read an ID or serial number in order to turn on??
03:47 AM fragalot: they seem like useful little things, but are neigh impossible to find here
03:47 AM `Wolf_: nope
03:47 AM `Wolf_: not too smart
03:48 AM CaptHindsight: so just + and - ?
03:48 AM fragalot: CaptHindsight: they only have protection circuitry in the batteries
03:48 AM fragalot: no communication to the tool
03:48 AM CaptHindsight: yes, anti blow up prevention
03:48 AM CaptHindsight: ah good
03:48 AM `Wolf_: I think they may brick the control board if it loses total power, ie attempt to replace the cells
03:48 AM fragalot: Wolf__: easy enough to work around that
03:49 AM CaptHindsight: I used to make laptop batteries
03:49 AM CaptHindsight: so no biggie
03:49 AM CaptHindsight: temp protection is the big thing
03:49 AM `Wolf_: yeah, I just buy new tool w/ 2 batteries every year lol
03:49 AM CaptHindsight: charge or discharge too fast and it open the contacts
03:50 AM `Wolf_: I love my cordless porta-band
03:50 AM fragalot: just stay under 20C and youll be fine :P
03:51 AM `Wolf_: been thinking about getting the uni-strut sized one for cutting stock to use in the lathe lol
03:53 AM `Wolf_: red tools everywhere https://i.imgur.com/cjOBgtE.jpg :D
03:54 AM fragalot: lol
03:54 AM CaptHindsight: I like my cordless toll for about 5-10 minutes top
03:54 AM CaptHindsight: toll/tools
03:54 AM `Wolf_: had to buy a new 3/8 impact gun because that one lives on the mill
03:55 AM CaptHindsight: my corded tools I like all day
03:55 AM CaptHindsight: sometimes I forget and am waiting for the power to decrease, but it has a cord
03:55 AM `Wolf_: if I was in a workshop, corded tool are ok
03:56 AM `Wolf_: but seems half the time I’m not lol
03:56 AM CaptHindsight: I still have milwaukee tools from the 70's and 80's
03:56 AM `Wolf_: and working on the big trucks getting cords and airlines around them is a total pain in the ass
03:56 AM fragalot: I have a healthy collection of both
03:57 AM fragalot: cordless is fine for the quick work, corded if you're going to be doing that task all day & need the oomph
03:57 AM CaptHindsight: the service center is nearby
03:58 AM `Wolf_: my 1/2” brushless impact gun has more torque then my 1/2” air impact that cost $100 more… >.<
03:58 AM CaptHindsight: I have 4 HF cordless drills with all the same batteries
03:58 AM CaptHindsight: the batteries last longer than the drills
03:59 AM `Wolf_: https://i.imgur.com/dvtmcbC.jpg
03:59 AM CaptHindsight: yah just needs 300 PSI on the air line :)
03:59 AM `Wolf_: I only have 1 m18 battery that is totally dead
04:00 AM `Wolf_: and its the compact one that is over 9yrs old
04:00 AM CaptHindsight: bet he's a Milwaukee dealer
04:00 AM `Wolf_: that my shit in the pic lol
04:00 AM CaptHindsight: whats the tall thing on the right rear?
04:01 AM `Wolf_: tower light
04:01 AM CaptHindsight: coredless jackhammer
04:01 AM CaptHindsight: ah
04:01 AM CaptHindsight: cordless MIG
04:01 AM `Wolf_: we end up fighting over the lights in the shop
04:02 AM CaptHindsight: we need nuclear powered cordless
04:02 AM `Wolf_: hah yeah
04:03 AM CaptHindsight: laser, welder, portable lathe
04:08 AM `Wolf_: i thought about using some double sided tape and sticking like 10 m18 packs on my 30A plasma and taking a pic to troll people
04:08 AM CaptHindsight: make a youtube
04:08 AM CaptHindsight: have to get some sleep 4;00
04:08 AM `Wolf_: I’m probably going to end up getting the cordless chainsaw next…
04:08 AM fragalot: CaptHindsight: cordless jackhammers have been around for ages
04:08 AM fragalot: you can find them by following the trail of oil they leave behind
04:08 AM `Wolf_: once I sell off 3 more of my gas saws that never get used now
04:08 AM fragalot: also
04:08 AM fragalot: I believe there IS a portable welder/plasma available if i'm not mistaken
04:09 AM fragalot: mine is 45A iirc
04:09 AM CaptHindsight: i have an old transformer model
04:09 AM fragalot: given that I only really use it for 0.8mm sheet.. it suffices :D
04:10 AM `Wolf_: I needed to order a new torch for it w/ a week lead time so the $1200 30A came back to the shop w/ me
04:10 AM CaptHindsight: 200-300lbs
04:10 AM `Wolf_: lol we have one of them in storage @ the shop
04:11 AM `Wolf_: 50A thing thats is 2x the size of my mig welder
04:11 AM CaptHindsight: i think the power cord is 3 x #6 or #4
04:11 AM CaptHindsight: yes giant
04:12 AM `Wolf_: most stuff I cut in the shop is 1/4”-1/2” (6mm-12.7mm)
04:12 AM `Wolf_: 30A will do it, slow as hell tho
04:14 AM `Wolf_: one of the typical plasma jobs in the shop https://i.imgur.com/wQHtvKw.jpg
04:14 AM CaptHindsight: http://www.sciencemag.org/news/2019/01/star-trek-replicator-creates-entire-objects-minutes
04:15 AM fragalot: CaptHindsight: so they took those novelty "bubble in acrylic" art machines & put resin in insetad?
04:15 AM `Wolf_: thats the same thing that came to mind when I was reading
04:16 AM fragalot: kinda neat, if i'm honest
04:17 AM CaptHindsight: the projector or lasers are from two angles
04:18 AM CaptHindsight: where they meet there is enough energy to trigger polymerization
04:18 AM CaptHindsight: if they print too slowly the whole thing will just be a blob
04:18 AM fragalot: or if you just re-use the resin
04:19 AM CaptHindsight: so one laser or projection is not enough energy to cure the desired areas, it takes 2 beams
04:19 AM CaptHindsight: but after a while the one beam will be enough energy to cure the resin
04:19 AM CaptHindsight: https://www.3dprintingmedia.network/what-is-volumetric-3d-printing-and-why-it-could-mean-the-end-of-additive-manufacturing/amp/
04:20 AM XXCoder: saw video of it. amazing
04:20 AM XXCoder: end of fsm? highly doubt that
04:20 AM CaptHindsight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=31xHZvUP1Ls&feature=youtu.be
04:20 AM XXCoder: since its limited to certain plastics.
04:20 AM `Wolf_: one can hope, right
04:21 AM XXCoder: you cant do it wioth nylon. nor abs
04:21 AM `Wolf_: if one of the resins is close to the property of PETG I would be happy with one…
04:21 AM XXCoder: indeed
04:22 AM XXCoder: i would be happy with petg variant that i can print that way
04:22 AM CaptHindsight: photopolymers
04:22 AM XXCoder: perfect for some applications.
04:22 AM `Wolf_: I did 1/2x20 thread in alum the other night w/ my lathe, my change gears are PETG printed lol
04:22 AM CaptHindsight: mostly acrylated epoxies, polyesters, urethanes, some new elastomers
04:23 AM CaptHindsight: won't work with photopolymers with metal powders in them
04:24 AM XXCoder: looks like it'd have to be transparent
04:24 AM CaptHindsight: has to be translucent
04:24 AM XXCoder: i wonder how dark it can be before it stops curing inside
04:24 AM CaptHindsight: what they don't tell you :)
04:25 AM CaptHindsight: depends on the curing wavelength
04:25 AM XXCoder: would be interesting if it was xray
04:25 AM XXCoder: then its any color as long as its transparent to xray
04:25 AM CaptHindsight: could be e-beam
04:26 AM CaptHindsight: xray would go right through
04:26 AM CaptHindsight: to short a wavelength
04:26 AM XXCoder: true would require minium capture in order to cure
04:26 AM CaptHindsight: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electron-beam_lithography
04:27 AM XXCoder: wow missed this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjn6qeFzQCA
04:27 AM XXCoder: pretty cool
04:27 AM CaptHindsight: https://www.photonics.com/Articles/Two-Photon_Polymerization_A_New_Approach_to/a26907
04:27 AM XXCoder: movable? dang
04:28 AM jthornton: morning
04:28 AM CaptHindsight: hasta banana everyone
04:28 AM XXCoder: hey jthornton
04:28 AM XXCoder: check out the video
04:29 AM XXCoder: also, looks like snow prediction is back, and today will have sleet. lol
04:29 AM XXCoder: and after that very cold, goes down to 18f. very rare for here!
04:32 AM Wolf__: at least I managed to get part of something done https://i.imgur.com/8GWcYYz.jpg lol
04:32 AM XXCoder: progress!
04:32 AM jthornton: XXCoder: what video
04:33 AM XXCoder: wow missed this video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sjn6qeFzQCA
04:40 AM jthornton: I made all the wood parts for this http://gnipsel.com/cannon/cannon.xhtml on my mill
04:41 AM XXCoder: nice!
04:43 AM jthornton: a lot of the metal work the strapping and stuff was made by hand
04:44 AM XXCoder: yiu didnt cast the cannon itself?
04:47 AM Wolf__: thats not a sword… XXCoder https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEjEAxdJLOg4k854j-oESfQ :D
04:47 AM jthornton: no, I bought the barrel from Dixie Gun Works
04:47 AM XXCoder: Wolf__: lol for a kid ehh no :)
04:47 AM XXCoder: not that I'll have any kid lol
04:48 AM Wolf__: would be safe… they make swords for actors as well… lol
04:52 AM XXCoder: lol ok :)
04:53 AM XXCoder: I do want to try making some scifi and fantasy daggers with my cnc router
04:53 AM jthornton: which one do you have?
04:53 AM XXCoder: the chinese one
04:53 AM XXCoder: you saw pictures and videos of it :) currently in closet and not running :( no room
04:54 AM Wolf__: One of the owners of baltimore knife and sword tried to sell me a x-carve the last time I was over there lol
04:57 AM XXCoder: xcarve is overpriced drawer turned into cnc
04:57 AM XXCoder: fine for some plastics and wood though
04:57 AM Wolf__: I’ve never looked at one
04:59 AM Wolf__: I forget why the hell kerry has the thing
05:03 AM XXCoder: no idea what youre talking about :)
05:04 AM Wolf__: the x-carve
05:05 AM XXCoder: ahh no idea
05:06 AM Wolf__: BKS (Balt knife and sword) has 3 cnc mills, I think he picked the x-carve up used but never set up
06:34 AM XXCoder: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIkpF2NjaCQ
08:20 AM jthornton: wow somehow I've used 1/2 my data for the month :(
08:21 AM Jymmm: jthornton: OUCH
08:22 AM Jymmm: jthornton: I thiknk you should setup a proxy
08:23 AM jthornton: what is a proxy
09:10 AM Jymmm: jthornton: It's basically a "filter" of sorts. But what you might consider is placing a parent filter (on your router) on your machines. You can even setup certain times you can visit certain sites. So even if a website is doing things in the background, you would have to worry about it. Maybe even limit your bandwidht usage right from the router itself. (You cna always turn it off if you need something)
09:30 AM Loetmichel: hmm... $me went to my sister yesterday... seems my lead foot is expensive... 230km to her i floored it (car maxes out at 230kph).... average of 120kmh... 11.2l/100km diesel. And a speed camera flashed (wasnt way to fast though, maybe a 35 eur ticket)... on the way back i put in the cruise control at 110kph, averaging 102kph ... 6,9l/100km according to the trip computer.
09:32 AM Wolf__: https://i.imgur.com/j3uNVIS.jpg =D i can relate… except for the ticket part
09:34 AM Wolf__: 106kph average speed for 1831km trip
11:49 AM CaptHindsight: jthornton: https://raisedbyturtles.org/limiting-daily-bandwidth-on-home-router
11:50 AM CaptHindsight: I'd setup rules based on time of day since satellite has capless downloads in the middle of the night...
11:51 AM CaptHindsight: I'd also setup daily or even hourly limits since some websites are sneaky and anything winders doesn't give a crap about your data useage
11:52 AM CaptHindsight: https://making.pusher.com/per-ip-rate-limiting-with-iptables/
11:54 AM CaptHindsight: http://www.kevinboone.net/linux_gateway.html
11:55 AM Jymmm: CaptHindsight: I sugestted the router parental controls, then there's no "per machine" config needed.
11:56 AM Jymmm: and many have "time of day" options available
11:57 AM CaptHindsight: I like to provide links that people can read since they needs lots of info and I don't want to write abook on IRC
11:58 AM CaptHindsight: he needs to monitor his network and find the machines that suck up his limited bandwidth
11:59 AM CaptHindsight: he's already done some work, but some software co's and some websites don't give a crap about your bandwidth
12:00 PM CaptHindsight: autoplay for videos is a real killer
12:00 PM CaptHindsight: ads that stream video for 20 seconds
12:04 PM fragalot: 'sup
12:07 PM Jymmm: CaptHindsight: I get it
12:08 PM Jymmm: theres PRTG fr stuff like that
12:09 PM Jymmm: theres also things like ntop
12:10 PM Jymmm: and iftop
12:10 PM Jymmm: CaptHindsight: https://www.tecmint.com/iftop-linux-network-bandwidth-monitoring-tool/
12:12 PM CaptHindsight: he might need some alert that sounds a buzzer when some device on his LAN goes over some hourly limit
12:13 PM CaptHindsight: we see crap on the network all the time, makes and breaks connections, sucks up lotsa bits
12:13 PM CaptHindsight: bots don't care how much of your bandwidth they suck up
12:20 PM fragalot: CaptHindsight: so move them to the cloud instead
12:23 PM CaptHindsight: he's in a rural area with little choice for broadband
12:24 PM CaptHindsight: last time we moved labs the first question I asked was " what internet providers are there?"
12:25 PM CaptHindsight: the real state people were all surprised
12:27 PM CaptHindsight: hah real estate even
12:27 PM fragalot: Comcast.
12:27 PM fragalot: or, there are many choices, but your contract includes comcast to start off with
12:27 PM fragalot: but you can try to change it at any time
12:28 PM CaptHindsight: I have ATT fiber inches from me, but they don't offer it yet
12:28 PM fragalot: still beats australian broadband
12:28 PM CaptHindsight: waiting for the new price wars
12:28 PM fragalot: saw dave from eevblog do a rant on it a while back, and christ it truly is awful
12:29 PM CaptHindsight: sausage makers vs internet providers
12:30 PM CaptHindsight: ISP's can teach used car salespeople a thing or two
12:31 PM _unreal_: nothing like transfering 100gb
12:31 PM CaptHindsight: fragalot: whats basic cable internet run there a month?
12:32 PM jthornton: CaptHindsight: thanks
12:32 PM fragalot: CaptHindsight: I believe it was around $600ish
12:33 PM fragalot: where I am it's €120 a month for 100Mbps down 250Gb/mo
12:33 PM fragalot: no idea what up is, but it's so much less
12:34 PM CaptHindsight: fragalot: interesting business class service is similar but not capped
12:35 PM CaptHindsight: 75/15mbps is $110 USD/mo with taxes and fees
12:35 PM CaptHindsight: home service is less but has a monthly cap
12:37 PM fragalot: in the netherlands it's a LOT cheaper at €60 a month for 500Mbit symmetric
12:37 PM CaptHindsight: like Japan and Korea
12:40 PM fragalot: CaptHindsight: they found a way to make things even MORE janky. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cCheeOT5btU
12:41 PM CaptHindsight: features hardwood bearings and races
12:43 PM CaptHindsight: fragalot: if he was a coworker would you quit?
12:43 PM fragalot: I wouldn't even have joined in the first place
12:43 PM CaptHindsight: or wait for him to be fired
12:44 PM CaptHindsight: how do you get anything done with people around like that?
12:44 PM fragalot: you don't. but it creates youtube content that he can put online & earn money with instead
12:44 PM methods_: more janky than this
12:44 PM methods_: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8PSG2al1Sus

01:31 PM Loetmichel: gnhihi, just got the copy in the mail: i am now officially 1/8 owner of a small house with 389m^2 land and a second patch of "agricultural" land with 10'050m^2... hope that will yield at least a few kEur when my uncle (main inheritior of my grandma) sells it. the house is built in the 60ties... its pretty much trash by now, never renovated :-)
01:37 PM fragalot: Loetmichel: is it a timeshare in spain?
01:37 PM Loetmichel: fragalot: nope, the house of my grandma. right here in cnter germany
01:40 PM Loetmichel: she died last year
01:41 PM Loetmichel: so i mget the mandatory (by law) inheritance
01:41 PM Loetmichel: as my pa is already dead
01:42 PM gloops: so, God forbid, any of the other 7 stakeholders should die, do you get their stake Loetmichel?
01:43 PM Loetmichel: nope, their chilkdren get
01:43 PM Loetmichel: and its only 4 siblings that inherited, one of them my dad
01:44 PM Loetmichel: but because my dad hat 2 childs every one of us gets an eight
01:44 PM Loetmichel: ah, my sister an me get an eight, the three other siblings of my dad get 1/4 each of course
01:45 PM gregcnc: how much does the govt get?
01:46 PM fragalot: gregcnc: they don't "get" anything
01:46 PM fragalot: they're just loaning Loetmichel a small portion
01:47 PM Loetmichel: gregcnc: i have no idea
01:48 PM Loetmichel: i imagine the resulting money when the uncle sells the stuff will be below any "Tax free" boundarys though
01:48 PM Loetmichel: i expect a few 1000 eur at best
02:23 PM Loetmichel: btw: my sister yesterday when i brought her the "new" notebook and repaired a few of hers: "i am 10 years into IT now, but thats the first time i see someone mending a display hinge with CA glue and baking soda!" ;)
02:30 PM Jymmm: it works
02:34 PM Loetmichel: it does indeed
02:34 PM fragalot: works very well, actually
02:34 PM fragalot: i've done that to about 4 laptops in the last year or so
02:35 PM fragalot: the fumes got to me the first time.. really stings, lol
02:39 PM Loetmichel: it dies
02:39 PM Loetmichel: does
02:39 PM Loetmichel: "use only in well ventilated area"
02:39 PM Loetmichel: ... i am experienced with those "kicker" sprays for CA though
02:40 PM Loetmichel: so i know that effect already
02:49 PM fragalot: those are not nearly as bad as the baking powder is
