03:08 AM miss0r: nutin'
03:08 AM XXCoder1: lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NwSIgDKvMHk
03:08 AM XXCoder1: yo miss0r
03:08 AM miss0r: apparently pepsi does not have a nice taste when it has turned into slushice
03:10 AM miss0r: wow
03:10 AM XXCoder1: suddenly, a car
03:10 AM XXCoder1: *cat
03:11 AM miss0r: nice touch making the tires act real in such a small size
03:16 AM XXCoder1: geez!
03:16 AM XXCoder1: working lock mechism
03:16 AM XXCoder1: not locking but stay close and open
03:19 AM XXCoder1: woah
03:19 AM XXCoder1: he keeps rising my expections and beating it.
03:19 AM XXCoder1: that truck is insane
03:21 AM miss0r: I'm a bit dissapointed he did not make miniature hex bolt heads
03:21 AM miss0r: instead of those allen ones
03:21 AM XXCoder1: lol ok
03:22 AM miss0r: but very impressive still :D
03:25 AM miss0r: XXCoder1 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d4Yur9F6cAM
03:27 AM miss0r: right down to the innerts of the braking system :D
03:30 AM XXCoder1: of course window is cracked lol
03:31 AM miss0r: :D
03:32 AM XXCoder1: detail is insane
03:33 AM Wolf__: wait till you see my scale ’69 ford bronco build
03:33 AM miss0r: I've build a real size car from scratch, like the model. I can tell you - everything looks realy realy good :D
03:33 AM Wolf__: 1:1
03:33 AM miss0r: :D
03:33 AM XXCoder1: lol
03:33 AM Wolf__: full tube frame
03:34 AM miss0r: A few days ago I replaced the oil filter console with a newer spin on model. Doing that I broke a t-joint... :-/
03:34 AM miss0r: I'm glad I have a machine shop.. the t-joint was a quite special one, which I could not find a replacement for
03:35 AM miss0r: it featured: outside 12x1.25 thread, outside 10x1.25 & inside 3/8 BSF
03:35 AM miss0r: Made a nice brass replica in little under two hours :D
03:35 AM Wolf__: yeah that sounds odd
03:36 AM miss0r: yeah. "originaly" the 88" series three land rovers were only shipped with a oil pressure switch. My one had a oil pressure gauge fittet at some point. That t-joint sits where the pressure switch is normally fitted, to allow for an oil line to go to the gauge
03:37 AM miss0r: also; if I haden't broken the original t-joint, I would still have to make a new one, because the later oil filter consoles are metric, and accepts the 10x1.25 thread, where the old one had a 3/8 BSF
03:38 AM miss0r: but I *could* have gotten away with it.. the 3/8 BSF threads flawlessly into a 10x1.25... I think you'd need 300mm of thread for them to start binding :D
03:38 AM miss0r: but using a 55degree thread in a 60degree one is not ideal
03:39 AM Wolf__: lol yeah not helpful for sealing either
03:40 AM miss0r: well, that is done with a cobber washer... so not realy an issue
03:43 AM Wolf__: oh right, straight thread fittings
03:44 AM miss0r: Time to go grocery shopping... Back to the real world
03:45 AM XXCoder1: lol that cat is breed type that always look angry or imperial
04:20 AM fragalot: miss0r: pepsi never has a good taste anyway
04:52 AM jthornton: morning

06:34 AM Tom_L: bit breezy out today too
06:34 AM Tom_L: dogs didn't care much for it
06:36 AM jthornton: pretty wet here
07:55 AM XXCoder1 is now known as XXCoder
11:16 AM Vitran: It is 20°C below here and snow. What is the rest of the world up to?
11:26 AM gambakufu: 9.6c and wishing it would snow.
11:30 AM rmu: -12°C, 1,5m Snow. mostly sunny/clear sky.

02:30 PM Gaston|DSP: Question for all: I want to have a look at qtpyvcp and is trying to follow instructions from https://qtpyvcp.kcjengr.com/installation.html
02:31 PM Gaston|DSP: I picked Linux Mint 19.1 and followed https://www.linuxmint.com/rel_tessa_mate.php
02:31 PM hazzy-m: Hello Gaston|DSP
02:31 PM Gaston|DSP: Hi hazzy-m :P
02:32 PM Gaston|DSP: and https://gnipsel.com/linuxcnc/uspace/linuxmint19-emc.html
02:32 PM Gaston|DSP: I'm getting stuck towards the end of the build process
02:32 PM Gaston|DSP: (of emc)
02:33 PM Gaston|DSP: Now the Question. Have I picked the wrong OS to build linuxcnc on?
02:33 PM Gaston|DSP: I'm doing it on a Vbox with 2 coires assigned, but am getting weird gl-linking errors
02:33 PM hazzy-m: No, Mint 19.1 is just fine for LCNC (what I am using right now)
02:35 PM Gaston|DSP: This is what I'm getting toward the end of the build process https://pastebin.com/Vmx6B5iM
02:36 PM Gaston|DSP: In particular dpkg-shlibdeps: error: no dependency information found for /var/lib/VBoxGuestAdditions/lib/libGL.so.1 (used by debian/linuxcnc-uspace/usr/lib/python2.7/dist-packages/_togl.x86_64-linux-gnu.so)
02:36 PM Gaston|DSP: Hint: check if the library actually comes from a package.
02:37 PM rmu: Gaston|DSP: is this in a virtual box?
02:37 PM Gaston|DSP: yeah
02:37 PM hazzy-m: I think jthornton mentioned that one of the commands was out of order in that tutorial, but he may have already fixed that
02:37 PM Gaston|DSP: Hmm, yeah there was a missing file in the beginning that was supposed to check for dependencies, but I just skipped it :)
02:38 PM rmu: so the debian package generator complains because it detects that the vbox guest addition libGL is used, but that is not part of any debian package so it cant generate dependency
02:38 PM Gaston|DSP: I think it was this one: dpkg-checkbuilddeps
02:39 PM hazzy-m: Gaston|DSP: do you realy need to compile LCNC from source? It might be easyer to install from the build bot if all you want to do is play with qtpyvcp ...
02:40 PM rmu: you could try to add --ignore-missing-info to the invokation of dpkg-shlibdeps
02:42 PM Gaston|DSP: So that would be in debian/rules right?
02:42 PM Gaston|DSP: hazzy-m: I'm just following the instructions recursive ;)
02:43 PM rmu: dh_shlibdeps in debian/rules
02:43 PM Gaston|DSP: rmu, Trying it now, thanks
02:44 PM rmu: i'm not sure about syntax, maybe it is dh_shlibdeps -- --ignore-missing info
02:44 PM rmu: then it should ignore the missing dependency
02:44 PM hazzy-m: Gaston|DSP: I see that there is not a section on installing on Mint 19.1 from the BuildBot, that is a omission! Sorry about that, I'll add it ASAP
02:46 PM * Gaston|DSP is building new .deb, let's see how it goes
02:48 PM hazzy-m: Gaston|DSP: This works on Mint 19.1 as well as Debian 9: https://gnipsel.com/linuxcnc/uspace/debian9-emc.html
02:55 PM Gaston|DSP: ok, thanks hazzy-m, I'll go with that if this latest build doesn't work. Might even roll back the VM first
02:57 PM Gaston|DSP: hazzy-m: You have no Idea how many people I have shown that dark theme you and Lcvette are working on, Great work! and thanks from myself and those I have shown it to
02:58 PM Gaston|DSP: rmu: It wasnt --ignore-missing-info, let's try --ignore-missing info before I give up
03:08 PM rmu: Gaston|DSP: no it is --ignore-missing-info, but that argument is passed via dh_shlibdeps to dpkg-shlibdeps, and dh_libdeps seems to need an extra --
03:08 PM rmu: (man dh_shlibdeps and dpkg-shlibdeps)
03:42 PM Deejay: gn8
03:47 PM Gaston|DSP: rmu, the syntax was -dpkg-shlibdeps-params=--ignore-missing-info
03:48 PM Gaston|DSP: so the complete changed line is dh_shlibdeps -l debian/linuxcnc-uspace/usr/lib --dpkg-shlibdeps-params=--ignore-missing-info
03:49 PM Gaston|DSP: rmu and hazzy-m, thanks for helping me out!
03:50 PM hazzy-m: Gaston|DSP: Thank you for muddling thru the incomplete documentation!
03:51 PM hazzy-m: I'm getting ready to publish a new release with a bunch of bug fixes
03:52 PM Gaston|DSP: sounds great, I'm actually very impressed with the activity in that tree !
04:01 PM hazzy-m: yes, there are several of us adding bugs at an alarming rate, lol
04:16 PM Connor: So, question. I was working on the Bridgeport the other day. I had it in back-gear and on the lowest pulley setting.. and I had the VFD turned down to 30 hertz. So, the motor should have been running at half speed. It started cogging.. I.E. Speed up, slowed down.. just oscillating. I turned it off.. turned it the speed knob up and turned it back on and it did it again. Took it out of back gear.. worked fine. Put it back in back
04:17 PM SpeedEvil: Motor behaviour at low speeds includes inertia and the mechanical system.
04:19 PM Connor: You think it was just taking too much torque on startup and confused the VFD?
04:24 PM gregcnc: lower spindle speeds by belt/gear reduce torque load on the motor
04:24 PM Connor: Yes, but, I had lowered the speed with back gear, belt AND Mhz on the VFD.
04:25 PM Connor: I'm wondering if the increased drag of the backgear caused it to have issues on startup.
04:25 PM gregcnc: I run my lathe to 10Hz with no issues
04:25 PM Connor: It hadn't been ran in a few days..
04:25 PM gregcnc: does back gear add that much friction on a BP?
04:26 PM gregcnc: I don't see any reason that setup should cause trouble
04:27 PM gregcnc: if you have a separate pot wired, i'd check it
04:48 PM jthornton: about 8" of wet snow so far and it's not supposed to stop till tomorrow noon or so
05:04 PM Loetmichel: gnhihi. the human brain is a cuious thing. Just watched a movie with my wife... there was a red haired mom with a brunette daughter... "thats not possible as far as i know... i read something about that a few decades back!"... moments later my wife had to endure a full fledged lecture about genetics... the things you forgot you know that come back at the slightest trigger... ;)
05:12 PM jthornton: lol my parents had 3 red haired children and the last one was not, I guess because my Dad threatened to dye his hair if they had another red head child lol
05:13 PM jthornton: we told her she was adopted... dang kids are cruel
05:13 PM Loetmichel: JT-Shop: i dont think it works like your dad imagined it ;)
05:15 PM jthornton: I'd bet but it was his story lol
07:38 PM SpeedEvil is now known as Guest62402
10:06 PM XXCoder: LOL https://boingboing.net/2019/01/17/jerk-tries-to-drive-through-gi.html
11:13 PM HighInBC: lol
11:13 PM HighInBC: I did that with a fire hydrant
11:13 PM HighInBC: got my friend to punch it
11:13 PM XXCoder: ouch I wouldnt do that in case theres fire
11:14 PM HighInBC: no vehicle though
11:14 PM HighInBC: ya I was 10
11:14 PM XXCoder: oh lol ok
