02:00 AM veek: heh Mxita snips
02:13 AM gloops: well my 18 inch cut diy bandsaw turned into a 24 inch cut on the first day of building, which kinda casts doubt over the rails and bearings i had in mind for it
02:13 AM gloops: as usual the plan gets thrown the first day and everything gets bigger
02:16 AM XXCoder: thats what she said
02:17 AM gloops: can a 7ft long 3/4 blade be tensioned with a 10mm bolt, who knows, be annoying if cant when ive made it all lol
02:18 AM gloops: i dont know who shes saying that to XXCoder, but its not me heh
02:18 AM XXCoder: lol
02:21 AM gloops: think ill go back to a smaller width, i cant even lift a 2 feet diameter log if i wanted to cut one
02:22 AM gloops: it just look a nice size when i had it laid out
02:27 AM fragalot: hey
02:30 AM miss0r: fragalot: Hey :)
02:30 AM miss0r: I'm going to replace the flooring in my trailer today. Have you got anything interresting planned? :)
02:34 AM XXCoder: anything but floor eh heh
02:37 AM miss0r: hehe
02:38 AM miss0r: I guess I should've called it the bed of the trailer.. Meh :)
02:38 AM XXCoder: lol
02:38 AM miss0r: What pisses me off with this trailer design is that they have made the size of the wooden insert of the trailer a non standard size.
02:39 AM miss0r: i.e. if I go to a regular builders market, the plate is 2cm too slim... beh
02:39 AM miss0r: so I either need comprise it from more than one piece or pay big buck to get an oversized plate
02:39 AM XXCoder: apparently there was painting done by banksy that shred itself when auction hammer was banged on table
02:40 AM gloops: this banksy thing is a bit ironic
02:41 AM gloops: he is basically the unabomber of the art world, and yet his stuff gets snapped up by rich millionaires, arent they the very people he hates
02:41 AM XXCoder: yeah probably why it shred'
02:41 AM XXCoder: ironically making it more valuable
02:41 AM miss0r: lol
02:42 AM XXCoder: its first painting that shred itseld when it was auctioned off
02:42 AM XXCoder: too bad, I like the paintinf
02:42 AM fragalot: mornin'
02:42 AM XXCoder: hey
02:43 AM fragalot: miss0r: nothing major. kinda torqued my knee getting that drill press out of my car
02:43 AM miss0r: :o you got it? :D
02:43 AM miss0r: ...never mind the knee :D you got the dill? :D
02:43 AM fragalot: https://photos.app.goo.gl/HxLGgReFV1sMeWK4A
02:43 AM miss0r: damn. that table is looking realy good!
02:43 AM fragalot: has a 180mm quill stroke, and I think the base came from a 5axis mill.. the damn thing is a *SOLID* cast iron base
02:44 AM XXCoder: shred video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hkG6J65Z4aA
02:44 AM fragalot: miss0r: previous owner recently replaced the bearings & gears in the head too before he "upgraded to an RF30"
02:45 AM fragalot: it feels pretty damn good :D
02:45 AM XXCoder: man how stunned people looked when they saw it shred itself
02:45 AM fragalot: XXCoder: it's probably worth more now too :p
02:45 AM miss0r: fragalot: It is realy nice! and I love the 180mm stroke. that is pretty decent
02:45 AM XXCoder: fragalot: that what I said yes lol
02:46 AM fragalot: miss0r: indeed. I'm happy.
02:46 AM fragalot: and surprised my cabinet is holding up$
02:46 AM miss0r: that is 40mm more than min! :-/
02:46 AM miss0r: :D
02:46 AM * miss0r just measured
02:46 AM fragalot: the base alone has got to weigh in excess of 120kg
02:47 AM fragalot: and the modern equivalent of the machine is advertised as 130kg
02:47 AM miss0r: :D
02:47 AM miss0r: I'm having a hard time picturing the real size of that table. that sounds realy heavy
02:48 AM fragalot: it's about 10cm thick, 60 deep, and 40 wide
02:48 AM fragalot: 600 deep, 400 wide*
02:48 AM * fragalot has not yet had his morning coffee
02:49 AM miss0r: Woah. that sounds realy heavy :D
02:49 AM fragalot: that's because it is
02:49 AM * miss0r takes a sip of some steaming hot freashly brewed coffee
02:49 AM fragalot: I don't think i'm going to bolt this down
02:49 AM fragalot: :D
02:50 AM miss0r: nah.. that won't move :) Even if it falls on you, you won't care if anyone says 'I told you so', as you won't be around to hear it ;)
02:50 AM fragalot: :)
02:51 AM fragalot: i've swung the head around 360° when it was on the floor and in any direction it doesn't want to tip
02:51 AM miss0r: not even a little?
02:51 AM miss0r: its just: even though that bottom plate is heavy, the head also looks quite beefy
02:51 AM fragalot: if it's 180° around the wrong way, I have to press down on it with around 15kg of force I think
02:52 AM miss0r: ha.. well, that is not realy an issue then
02:52 AM miss0r: you have the correct t-nuts for those t-slots?
02:52 AM fragalot: y'know what. I've not yet checked what size they are
02:53 AM miss0r: but that is just about one of the sweetest drillpress beds I've ever seen :D
02:53 AM fragalot: Aye
02:54 AM fragalot: which is both great, and annoying that there's no hole for the drill bit to pass through :P
02:54 AM miss0r: hehe.. quickly: bolt a sacrificial wooden plate to it :P
02:54 AM fragalot: :D
02:55 AM miss0r: then again.. that is only a problem once :P
02:55 AM * miss0r needs to go shopping for wood. be back later
02:55 AM fragalot: have fun
02:55 AM fragalot: also
02:55 AM miss0r: "fun"
02:55 AM fragalot: put in some C-channel to make up for the short length of the wood
02:56 AM miss0r: problem is: its not so much the length as it is the width
02:56 AM miss0r: I need to put more plates together
02:56 AM fragalot: put it lengthwise then
02:57 AM miss0r: I have two metal supports underneath, i'll just make the joints there
02:57 AM miss0r: anyway
02:57 AM * miss0r is out
02:57 AM fragalot: bye
03:05 AM miss0r: fuck
03:05 AM miss0r: I just found out it is 15mm thick
03:05 AM miss0r: I can't get anything but 12 and 18 on short notice
03:06 AM fragalot: :/
03:07 AM fragalot: i'd recommend you the right lumber yard here, but they closed down
03:07 AM fragalot: also it's sunday, and i'm jealous you'd even be able to find 12
03:07 AM miss0r: hehe
03:10 AM miss0r: found a 15mm plate... I have to go for a 15km drive :D no problem- See you later
03:11 AM fragalot: holy crap i'm rich
03:12 AM fragalot: "I am attorney James Walcott, I am contacting you again to confirm if you have received my previous email regarding to your family member inheritance estimated at USD $ 13,580,000,00 ."
03:16 AM gloops: probably get more replies with a more realistic sum
03:16 AM fragalot: gloops: it's intentionally unrelealistic
03:16 AM fragalot: i'm surprised it doesn't have spelling mistakes
03:16 AM gloops: what are they doing it for then?
03:16 AM fragalot: making it an obvious scap filters out who replies
03:16 AM fragalot: scam*
03:17 AM fragalot: only dumbasses and vulnerable people will respond
03:17 AM fragalot: which increases their chances of success
03:17 AM gloops: hmm
03:23 AM XXCoder: heh I used to reply "oh I got the money. thanks for letting me know though"
03:25 AM gloops: can just imagine a lawyer on 10% sitting there saying, oh i better email this dude about that 13 million again
04:07 AM gloops: couple of old car screw jacks, jaguar or land rover, seriously no matter how i look at it i cannot see how these were used to life a car lol
04:07 AM gloops: doesnt work any way or side up
04:09 AM XXCoder: its designed for specific car, becaus eunderside theres spots you can use jack on
04:10 AM XXCoder: I used my vans to change tire once
04:10 AM gloops: yeah i reckon so, there must be a socket of some kind for the floppy bar to fit inside
04:12 AM gloops: probably right, jag owners wouldnt just want any old jack squashing their sills in
04:30 AM XXCoder: gloops: did you say something after I said and acciently unplugged my pc?
05:20 AM jthornton: morning
05:21 AM XXCoder: yo
05:22 AM Deejay: moin
05:23 AM jthornton: what's up this morning
05:23 AM XXCoder: not a lot. got back from party 3 hours ago lol
05:24 AM XXCoder: it was surpising large deaf party. enjoyed a lot
05:24 AM jthornton: nice
05:24 AM jthornton: your a party animal now lol
05:24 AM XXCoder: nah I refuse to drink any beer and similiar type
05:25 AM XXCoder: I ended up not drinking or eating anything.
05:25 AM XXCoder: I guess it makes me largely immune to little people :P
05:25 AM jthornton: you don't have to drink to party
05:25 AM XXCoder: yeah mostly I chatted with people about various topics
05:26 AM jthornton: down to a 30% chance of showers today looking better for the ride home
05:26 AM XXCoder: nice
05:34 AM jthornton: need to turn off the touch pad on this laptop it keeps putting the cursor someplace else lol
05:38 AM jthornton: xinput disable 13
05:54 AM jthornton: yea got a hot key to disable/enable the touchpad
07:31 AM SpeedEvil is now known as Guest15826
08:17 AM gloops: http://vi.raptor.ebaydesc.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItemDescV4&item=221441535476&category=139838&pm=1&ds=0&t=1532944252000&ver=0
08:18 AM gloops: so it says pay as you go SIM, ok
08:18 AM gloops: how much is that gonna cost for gps?
08:20 AM gloops: i mean, a £10 pay as you go top up last about 5 minutes
08:42 AM BitEvil: 'for GPS' ?
08:44 AM BitEvil is now known as SpeedEvil
09:12 AM gloops: .
09:12 AM gloops: yeah global positioning, its a tracker
09:13 AM SpeedEvil: GPS does not require mobile service. What the device sends back and how it sends it back will determine the cost.
09:14 AM SpeedEvil: Some 'GPS' devices are very, very bad mobile only trackers.
09:14 AM gloops: well yeah i read a bit more and it says 1 year free subs
09:14 AM gloops: so whats the sim for?
09:14 AM gloops: maybe to text position back to a phone or something
11:11 AM diverdude: miss0r: hey there - hows it going?
03:46 PM Blumax: Someone to help me with the handwheel xhc-hb04?
03:57 PM andypugh: Lots of info on the forum. Probably too much.
04:02 PM Tom_L: http://linuxcnc.org/docs/2.7/html/man/man9/xhc_hb04_util.9.html
04:03 PM JT-Shop: yo
04:03 PM Tom_L: made it home ehh?
04:04 PM * Tom_L calls back the spyder rescue squad
04:05 PM JT-Shop: yea got home at 10:30am at 1pm a heavy rain storm marched through here
04:06 PM Tom_L: been a crappy drizzly day here
04:06 PM Tom_L: looks like it could start downpouring any time
04:06 PM JT-Shop: cleared right up after here
04:07 PM Tom_L: looks like you're right on the edge of it
04:09 PM JT-Shop: opps weather.gov radar is out for here
04:13 PM Tom_L: http://www.intellicast.com/Local/WxMap.aspx
04:15 PM JT-Shop: yea looks pretty west of me
04:27 PM Blumax: http://blumax.fr/capture/firefox_2018-10-07_23-26-15.png
04:28 PM Blumax: What is "H" ? And what are the values of the axes that seems to be anything?
04:34 PM jdh: I only see that screen when I accidentally hit the wrong key
04:36 PM JT-Shop: hmm, not seen H before must be something new in 2.8
04:38 PM Blumax: It's painful that ... I'm going to do two setups, one for homing and one for working ...
05:45 PM jthornton: well he left before I could tell him...
05:46 PM XXCoder: oh well
05:48 PM Rob_H: does that H mean they need homing in 2.8? as its kind of where the * appears when they are homed
05:52 PM andypugh: I have a specific homing config and a non-homing config. But I am special :-)
05:52 PM andypugh: (My lathe only needs to re-home if it crashes without saving position, I have single-turn absolute encoders)
05:56 PM XXCoder: nice
05:59 PM gloops: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Centec-2-horizontal-milling-machine-with-Centec-stand-cabinet-and-coolant-pump/323480991065?
05:59 PM gloops: 25 quid, but essex
06:00 PM andypugh: Not great, small and lightweight
06:01 PM XXCoder: said was in daily use till removed from factory
06:01 PM syyl_: means: worn out
06:01 PM XXCoder: likely yes
06:01 PM gloops: it is small but the price is right atm, surely for someone playing in the garage
06:01 PM syyl_: and never maintained
06:02 PM andypugh: I have the patterns for the castings to convert https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Harrison-Milling-Machine-Vertical-and-Horizontal-3-Phase/223179890225
06:03 PM andypugh: (though if you want to make gears you want the one with the swing-table)
06:03 PM gloops: they would be bidding if it was vertical
06:04 PM andypugh: Good point.
06:04 PM gloops: anyway bedtime
06:07 PM andypugh: Too late
06:08 PM andypugh: Was going to say that it’s not so hard to mount an eBay spindle on a horizontal mill. https://youtu.be/XZHsDMJKJuk
07:51 PM _unreal_: any one do a lot of stuf with arduino
07:51 PM _unreal_: ?
07:53 PM XXCoder: we usually use linuxcnc so that means stuff like BOB with tb6600s for cheap end, and MESA for better
07:53 PM XXCoder: ardino isnt used here besides secondary stuff like light status controller sometimes
09:42 PM pcw_home: Big meteor or something (falling spacecraft?) in the sky here tonight
09:53 PM ziper: launch a few minutes ago
09:53 PM pcw_home: Ahh looks like it was a SpaceX launch
09:54 PM pcw_home: suprised it was so visible in SFBA
