04:55 AM XXCoder: hey
05:11 AM Tom_L: morning
05:12 AM Tom_L: 55°F Hi 66
05:12 AM jthornton: morning
05:14 AM jthornton: a bit more swing here 50°F - 76°F
05:19 AM XXCoder: today was expecially hot
05:19 AM XXCoder: 70f
05:29 AM jthornton: how hot was it inside the shop?
05:31 AM XXCoder: 72f?
05:31 AM XXCoder: its always slightly warmer than 70f year around besides summer
05:31 AM XXCoder: QA room is always 65f year around. poor 2nd shift QA guy
05:31 AM XXCoder: hes always wearing warm clothes year around
05:32 AM XXCoder: 65f is still warm to me, shorts temperate so I never wear warmer clothes at work year around (beides pants in cooler seasons)
05:36 AM jthornton: I get to play with the new to me wood lathe today after I assemble it
05:36 AM XXCoder: thats awesome :D
05:36 AM XXCoder: wanted to play with one but didnt want to buy one just for that. I still have that $45 one I need room to put that in before I can try it
05:37 AM jthornton: it came with a butt load of tools and some nice ones
05:38 AM jthornton: https://fayar.craigslist.org/tls/d/jetlathe-with-tools/6688192016.html
05:38 AM jthornton: I'm surprised the ad is still up
05:39 AM XXCoder: wow what a big collection
05:39 AM XXCoder: so whjats your plan?
05:39 AM jthornton: yea it's a bunch of tools
05:40 AM jthornton: well I'm working on some fiberglass molds at my neighbors house on his shop smith but it's pretty crappy and I have to wait for him to be home so now I'll shift that over to my shop
05:41 AM XXCoder: no no what I meant is what you planning to make on it
05:42 AM jthornton: fiberglass mold for air cleaner cover
05:42 AM jthornton: making them out of wood
05:42 AM XXCoder: oh! thought you was saying you got sidelined into making molds before can make something on lathe lol
05:42 AM XXCoder: cool :)
05:44 AM jthornton: my neighbor has a shop smith which is a do all wood working machine
05:45 AM jthornton: but it's pretty light so it vibrates a lot
05:47 AM jthornton: I need to get some wheels under it so it's mobile
05:47 AM XXCoder: and add some heavy metal
05:49 AM jthornton: reading online and some folks add a sand ballast box to each leg... I could use chips lol
05:49 AM jthornton: metal chips that is
05:51 AM XXCoder: could work
05:51 AM XXCoder: loose material would eat vibrations hard
05:51 AM XXCoder: convert em to heat
05:59 AM jthornton: still trying to figure out what the scroll thing is in photo #2 lower left corner
05:59 AM XXCoder: the disc?
05:59 AM jthornton: aye
05:59 AM XXCoder: yeah lathe guys at work has em
06:00 AM XXCoder: got something to do with finding center?
06:00 AM XXCoder: or maybe its to odd shaped part
06:02 AM XXCoder: im not too familiar with lathe unfortunately
06:02 AM XXCoder: in pretty close to 4 years, I ran lathe only 7 times
06:03 AM jthornton: https://www.woodturnerscatalog.com/p/103/4604/RMWoodCo-Modern-Longworth-Chuck
06:03 AM XXCoder: and it was very little more than operator
06:03 AM XXCoder: nice
06:03 AM jthornton: looks like some kind of bowl chuck to finish the bottom
06:03 AM XXCoder: or large but shallow something yeah
06:03 AM XXCoder: like pot lid
06:07 AM * jthornton gets back to the python3 time puzzle
06:08 AM XXCoder: fun
06:09 AM jthornton: yea I finally fingered out that for comparisons I need to convert to seconds from epoch due to some formats being tz aware and some not
06:16 AM XXCoder: makes sense
09:31 AM diverdude is now known as Guest50641
10:49 AM fragalot: hey
