12:00 AM Tom_L: i keep logs separate from the bot as well
12:03 AM XXCoder: theres ways to set bot to stay in channel so when you come in you can read everything thats been said
12:03 AM XXCoder: or just use logs
12:03 AM pink_vampire: _unreal_: so you need to also make a sticky note when you logout, just to go to the same point in the log?
12:03 AM _unreal_: no
12:03 AM pink_vampire: so?
12:03 AM _unreal_: it just picks up posting from where I left
12:03 AM Tom_L: you seem to be the only advocate here for what you are pushing
12:03 AM Tom_L: if there was a concesus i might consider it
12:03 AM Tom_L: but there isn't
12:03 AM _unreal_: irc has worked like this fine for me for the past 20 years
12:03 AM pink_vampire: i'm using IRC, skype, discord, whatsapp, and more, and here in the IRC is the most annoying and stupid way and interface. the world become much more efficient and easy
12:03 AM pink_vampire: and = to
12:03 AM pink_vampire: you can't even edit massages :-(
12:04 AM pink_vampire: even skype support it
12:04 AM Tom_L: feel free to stop using it
12:04 AM Wolf__: the way some of you all go on and on about some subjects, I’m glad I dont bother to log the channel
12:05 AM XXCoder: hey the fanged one
12:05 AM pink_vampire: i go where the people are
12:05 AM Tom_L: accept us where we are then
12:09 AM Wolf__: plus, this is real time chat usually, why would you need to edit…
12:09 AM pink_vampire: Wolf__: it is just convenient
12:09 AM MarcelineVQ: editing just means a person can lie easier, never understood that as a feature, we're not writing books
12:09 AM Wolf__: just attempt to think before running mouth.. same as talking in real life lol
12:09 AM MarcelineVQ: There's advantages to things like discord but there's also disadvantages, of them the biggest is fragmenting the already small community.
12:09 AM _unreal_: cell phones killed ICQ, AOL, msn
12:09 AM Wolf__: edit/delete messages/posts in the middle of a dialog is one of the things I hate about facebook
12:10 AM _unreal_: need to get up early if I can to try and start setting up some of the wires
12:11 AM XXCoder: later
12:36 AM fragalot: hi
12:36 AM pink_vampire: hi fragalot
01:26 AM CaptHindsight: 300 baud over a phone line! When we were kids we had to transfer and share data on printed pages that only came out monthly.
01:26 AM fragalot: you had a printer???
01:26 AM CaptHindsight: no, that made it even harder
01:26 AM fragalot: :D
01:28 AM CaptHindsight: Ocktoberfest here later today, should be interesting
01:29 AM CaptHindsight: and IMTS all week
01:29 AM fragalot: TIL that automatic transmission fluid mixed with acetone makes for a good penetrating fluid
01:29 AM fragalot: I'm going to a mini-ITMS equivalent next month
01:29 AM fragalot: still trying to track down "the right machine" for what we do
01:30 AM fragalot: which, turns out, is such a niche that there's really only one company that makes them that i've found so far
01:30 AM CaptHindsight: fritzenchopin?
01:30 AM fragalot: because there's no way we're going to get an 80ton twin column mill with 70kW spindle just to poke holes in electrical cabinets
01:31 AM fragalot: which is what most of the manufacturers i've contacted have suggested we do
01:31 AM CaptHindsight: laser metal poker
01:31 AM fragalot: trumpf said no
01:31 AM fragalot: apparently "just cut a hole in your bed so we can fit the cabinet in" made them angry
01:31 AM CaptHindsight: are the cabinets already assembled?
01:31 AM fragalot: yes
01:31 AM fragalot: and their only suggestion was a 5 axis 10kW CO2, prices starting at 800k
01:32 AM CaptHindsight: whats the largest cabinets dimm?
01:32 AM fragalot: largest panel is 1800x800x20, largest cabinet is 1200x1000x400
01:33 AM fragalot: smallest cabinet is 120x120x80
01:33 AM CaptHindsight: why can't they just get a used machine and make mods?
01:33 AM CaptHindsight: tax issues?
01:33 AM fragalot: tax issues.
01:34 AM fragalot: and time
01:34 AM fragalot: we have no resources left to work on a project like this, and i'm te only one experienced enough with this kind of thing to actually do it
01:34 AM CaptHindsight: I'm sure you'll figure something out..
01:34 AM fragalot: Aye
01:34 AM CaptHindsight: must rest before the big day ahead
01:34 AM fragalot: had someone over that's modded a leadwell machine before to do something similar
01:35 AM fragalot: and he'd made the most sensible suggestion to date.. Standard machine, raiser block to get the Z height, done.
01:35 AM fragalot: so currently it's either that, or the rittal perforex
01:36 AM CaptHindsight: welterusten en laat de bedwantsen niet bijten
01:36 AM fragalot: haha
01:36 AM fragalot: gnite CaptHindsight :)
01:54 AM gloops: youve got some high end competition for that job fragalot
01:54 AM gloops: theyre all going to automated fibre lasers here
01:55 AM fragalot: gloops: they're not competition, those are currently suppliers. Issue is that said suppliers have HUGE lead-times
01:55 AM fragalot: so we're resorting to DIY because we are scratching the surface of QTY's where it starts making sense to do so
01:55 AM gloops: ahh right i see
01:57 AM gloops: im noticing, around where i live anyway, more and more higher tech operations springing up, a number of these fast cutting services
01:57 AM fragalot: yup
02:00 AM Deejay: moin
02:00 AM gloops: the old coach building place up the road is now a cnc/linear motion parts-services place - the fact that the demand for places like that exists, says something, it pretty big
02:01 AM fragalot: of course there's demand for manufacturing
02:01 AM fragalot: the big trend now, is that machines have gotten so good that they get the job done in record speeds
02:01 AM fragalot: which reduces labor cost a lot
02:01 AM fragalot: and labor cost is the reason manufacturing all shifted to asia
02:01 AM gloops: probably more noticeable here for us, as we kinda dropped that kind of industry for 30 years
02:01 AM fragalot: so take that out of the equation, and manufacturing locally makes a lot of sense
02:03 AM gloops: not much labour involved, the machines are self loading - just one bloke on a fork truck moving stuff to and from the machine
02:04 AM fragalot: Exactly.
02:04 AM gloops: and an operator somewhere
02:04 AM fragalot: one operator, dozens of machines in a lights out factory
02:04 AM fragalot: still producing higher quality parts in less time
02:05 AM gloops: the only evidence that these places are engineering works is the sign outside, you dont see any smoke or grime or rusting piles of stuff outside, its all squeaky clean
02:36 AM fragalot: gloops: old timey manufacturing at it's finest: https://imgur.com/gallery/boR2NzX
02:41 AM gloops: even the old timer looks like hes had enough
02:45 AM fragalot: :P
03:20 AM XXCoder: yo
03:26 AM miss0r: hey
05:04 AM jthornton: morning
05:05 AM XXCoder: hey
05:11 AM * miss0r found a hornets nest in his frontyard
05:11 AM miss0r: while trimming the bushes :)
05:11 AM XXCoder: oh thats fun
05:12 AM XXCoder: I watched a video about hornets, and man they love chicken a lot
05:12 AM miss0r: yeah. fragalot linked me that video. I will make that trap in a moment
05:12 AM XXCoder: its pretty strightforward yeah
05:13 AM XXCoder: just some chicken, board soapy water
05:14 AM miss0r: yup
05:16 AM jthornton: which video?
05:16 AM miss0r: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7FhifTGKtUQ 3:15
05:17 AM XXCoder: ignore then chemical first section
05:18 AM XXCoder: I learned something though
05:18 AM XXCoder: dont eat chicken if there might be hornets outside lol
05:18 AM miss0r: hehe
05:21 AM jthornton: I need to start using chicken in my hornet traps
05:21 AM XXCoder: you could do double duty, buy kfc, eat most of em and leave leftovers in traps
05:21 AM XXCoder: you got a ok meal, and wasps get last meal
05:23 AM jthornton: yuck kfc
05:24 AM XXCoder: lol
05:24 AM XXCoder: fit for wasps I guess
05:24 AM jthornton: I prefer Dakgangjeong https://www.maangchi.com/recipe/easy-dakgangjeong
05:25 AM miss0r: wtf? don't say yuck KFC... We only have three KFC stores in Denmark.. and I have to go in everytime I get past one :D
05:25 AM jthornton: do you have Popeyes?
05:25 AM XXCoder: I haven't went to kfc for last 6 years or maybe more
05:26 AM miss0r: jthornton: Nope
05:26 AM miss0r: We basically have: McDonalds, Burger King & KFC
05:26 AM XXCoder: thats all?
05:27 AM miss0r: Unless I'm forgetting something..
05:27 AM * jthornton worked at Burger King a long long time ago
05:27 AM syyl: thats enough fastfoodcrap for one country ;)
05:27 AM miss0r: well, thoes are the ones we have that you also have.
05:27 AM miss0r: We also have a swedish burger chain called MAX Burgers.
05:27 AM jthornton: the very first Popeyes was in a little hole in the wall joint on Williams Blvd in Kenner La
05:27 AM miss0r: which sucks harder than the three previous ones combined
05:28 AM XXCoder: jthornton: I went to 5th mcdonalds location
05:29 AM XXCoder: its pretty cool
05:29 AM XXCoder: food suck as usual but yeah
05:29 AM jthornton: my favorite burger is my Koren Burger http://gnipsel.com/recipes/index.html
05:30 AM XXCoder: hamburger HMM early era caboose
05:30 AM XXCoder: location dont exist anymore
06:04 AM Tom_L: 63°F Hi 75
06:04 AM jthornton: similar here today
06:04 AM Tom_L: hope it's clear
06:04 AM Tom_L: airshow today
06:05 AM jthornton: we are supposed to clear up Monday
06:08 AM XXCoder: 69f, and heavy rain in evening
06:09 AM XXCoder: its high point of entire week
06:12 AM Loetmichel: bah, now i crave some burgers...
06:12 AM jthornton: lol
06:14 AM Loetmichel: i was so proud of me slowly shedding weight (only 119kg this morning on the scale)... well, that will go slower now ;)
06:15 AM jthornton: I'm a half a stone heavy today at 13
08:51 AM _unreal_: I am so damn pissed off. I slept'ed for way to damn long. freaking 10am
09:05 AM gloops: lol
11:23 AM Blumax: Hello
11:57 AM miss0r|laptop: pcw: you around?
12:02 PM miss0r|office2: jthornton: I have the photo now: https://imgur.com/a/sDKTFX1
12:08 PM pcw_home: Yeah
12:09 PM miss0r|laptop: pcw_home: I have a question: I just sent a picture link to jthornton; in this picture is a schematic for some linea encoder signal converters I've got.
12:09 PM miss0r|laptop: pcw_home: I was hoping you could tell me how to wire them up with the 7i77? :)
12:10 PM pcw_home: standard quadrature out?
12:10 PM miss0r|laptop: A, A*, B, B* is sort'a selfeksplainatory
12:10 PM miss0r|laptop: pcw_home: excellent question. :)
12:12 PM miss0r|laptop: pcw_home: The only think the product page says about these is "Converts signals from Philips CNC 432 linear measuring system to TTL / RS422 encoder interface"
12:13 PM rmu|w: it has a quadruple rs422 line driver on the output labelled A, B, C and ERR and complementaries
12:15 PM miss0r|laptop: rmu|w: is that considered 'standard quadrature' ?
12:15 PM rmu|w: the thingy labelled PE2480 is some kind of microcontroller, no way to tell from the picture what kind of signal that generates
12:16 PM rmu|w: probably it is a quadrature and index signal. if you have one, hook it up and scope the outputs
12:16 PM miss0r|laptop: rmu|w: I guess I'll need to. I was just hoping the information here was enough for you guys :D
12:17 PM miss0r|laptop: The odd thing about calling that IC 'PE2480' is that, that is the name of the philips reading head
12:17 PM miss0r|laptop: which is mounted on X2
12:17 PM miss0r|laptop: This is the link for the converter site: http://bulgarianindustry.bg/en/products?product=1978627491469053124&tit=Philips%20CNC%20432%20linear%20measuring%20system%20converter%20to%20RS422%20encoder%20intrface
12:17 PM rmu|w: probably indicates the firmware
12:17 PM miss0r|laptop: if that at all can be of any help
12:18 PM rmu|w: ok, it says CPLD
12:18 PM rmu|w: miss0r|laptop: why don't you email them
12:19 PM miss0r|laptop: rmu|w: I *could*, but their english is easy to misunderstand
12:19 PM miss0r|laptop: especially in written form
12:19 PM miss0r|laptop: rmu|w: What does that CPLD tell you?
12:21 PM miss0r|laptop: never mind. So basically; I need to scope it or write these guys.
12:21 PM rmu|w: it is not a microcontroller, it is a simpler logic device, like FPGA, but smaller
12:22 PM rmu|w: probably that thing outputs some kind of quadrature/index signal, but i would just email them
12:22 PM * fragalot returns!
12:23 PM miss0r|laptop: hello fragalot
12:23 PM pcw_home: No pinouts?
12:23 PM miss0r|laptop: pcw_home: Theres the one in the picture: https://imgur.com/a/sDKTFX1
12:23 PM miss0r|laptop: but without further information, I'm not sure what to do about it
12:25 PM fragalot: miss0r|laptop: do what I do and just assume it is standard :D
12:25 PM pcw_home: just connect ground, A/A* B,B* and Z,Z* to the 7I77
12:25 PM miss0r|laptop: I don't have Z.. I have 'c'
12:25 PM miss0r|laptop: Should I consider that the same thing?
12:26 PM pcw_home: Yes
12:26 PM miss0r|laptop: Well then. What about the rest of the outputs? I should just disregard them?
12:27 PM miss0r|laptop: -not that I have any idea what they are.. well the ERR is v
12:27 PM miss0r|laptop: self-explanatory
12:27 PM miss0r|laptop: but that DECp & DECn... no idea
12:28 PM pcw_home: you can for now (you could wire ERR/ERR* to a spare 7I77 encoder input)
12:29 PM pcw_home: and DECM to a 7I77 digital input
12:29 PM miss0r|laptop: pcw_home: As I understand the ERR signal; it is there in case of powerloss on the encoder end. I can spare that. But I dont know what to think of the DEC?
12:29 PM miss0r|laptop: i.e. I have no idea what it is
12:29 PM pcw_home: wheres the f-in manual?
12:29 PM miss0r|laptop: pcw_home: Non existant
12:30 PM * miss0r|laptop writes a mail to the seller asking for more information
12:30 PM miss0r|laptop: ^But i'm not holding my breath
12:31 PM pcw_home: DEC comes from the encoder so you might be able to figure it out from the encoder spec
12:31 PM miss0r|laptop: I wonder if that is needed. I will look that up. Thanks
12:32 PM miss0r|laptop: Just to be absolutly sure: you mentioned 'z' to be the same as 'c'.. But in the 7i77 manual, it is mentioned as 'x' - correct?
12:32 PM pcw_home: probably OK with just the encoder signals for now
12:32 PM pcw_home: IDX I think
12:33 PM miss0r|laptop: yes. Perfect. Thanks
12:33 PM pcw_home: Z, I, IDX,C all the same on quadrature encoders
12:33 PM miss0r|laptop: I've been installing linear encoder on machines for a long time, but never realy had anything to do with it on a signal level. Its good to get smarter :)
12:34 PM pcw_home: well except some weird ones where C is a off by one count ring
12:35 PM miss0r|laptop: I would assume the output of this converter is pretty generic. Otherwise, what is the point.
12:39 PM gregcnc: is this related to those scales? http://alexandria.tue.nl/extra1/afstversl/E/357633.pdf
12:40 PM miss0r|laptop: gregcnc: My german sucks, but using the on-site search function (F3), I can see PE 2480 mentioned once in there. That is the name of my reader heards
01:11 PM miss0r|laptop: fragalot: I have not caught any hornets with that trap yet. I've not even seen any try to come close to it yet
01:12 PM fragalot: really?
01:12 PM miss0r|laptop: yep
01:12 PM fragalot: maybe hornets go after something other than chicken
01:12 PM miss0r|laptop: I think the idea is sound enough. Perhaps they are just resting up :D
01:12 PM miss0r|laptop: I wouldn't think so; hornets are insect eaters. They don't do flowers ect
01:13 PM fragalot: miss0r|laptop: I just ordered this thing. https://imgur.com/a/42tWcOT
01:14 PM miss0r|laptop: Sexy :]
01:15 PM fragalot: now to find some decent xnmu inserts :P
01:16 PM miss0r|laptop: Thats alot of inserts to index :D
01:16 PM fragalot: yup :D
01:16 PM fragalot: each insert should have 14 usable cutting surfaces though
01:16 PM fragalot: so I'm probably set for life with a box or 2
01:17 PM miss0r|laptop: hehe. That is pretty neat
01:18 PM miss0r|laptop: with that amount of inserts in it, it better last a white. indicating them all will be hell :D
01:18 PM fragalot: :P
01:18 PM fragalot: i've done the calculations and the schaublin should be able to make the cuts I want just fine
01:21 PM miss0r|laptop: nice
01:22 PM fragalot: derp
01:22 PM fragalot: I couldn't find the right info anywhere except for this YT video on the exact cutter I bought, which explains which inserts work with the wedge and which don't
01:22 PM fragalot: obviously i've already purchased 17 inserts for the wrong one
01:23 PM fragalot: guess I now need to get/make a lathe holder for them :P
01:23 PM miss0r|laptop: hahaha.. of course you did. You can't wait - like me
01:23 PM fragalot: :D
01:33 PM Blumax: I need your help, it's been more than an hour I'm looking for, I did not want to bother you but I can not do it :(
01:33 PM miss0r|laptop: Blumax: its better to just ask the question ;)
01:34 PM Blumax: My CNC is a gantry with belt. At each start the Perpendicular is lost. I have two drivers for the Y axis and two end-stops in Y. It is a rotary 4-axis machine.
01:35 PM Blumax: I followed this tutorial but it does not work.
01:35 PM Blumax: https://forum.linuxcnc.org/49-basic-configuration/33079-how-to-2-or-more-motors-on-one-axis-gantry-linuxcnc-2-8-master
01:36 PM Blumax: Error : Signal 'ypos-cmd' can not add OUT pin 'joint.2.motor-pos-cmd', it already has OUT pin 'joint.1.motor-pos-cmd'
01:37 PM pcw_home: you need two signals (say ypos1-cmd and ypos2-cmd)
01:43 PM pcw_home: and two Y feedback signals and two Y PID/stepgens etc
01:51 PM Blumax: Now I'm not wrong anymore but everything is not fixed :)
01:51 PM Blumax: X : Move OK, Move Y : OK witch two driver/motor, Z : no move but in UI Y move. A : move Z
02:15 PM Blumax: My INI file : https://pastebin.com/yUigaPKq
02:16 PM Blumax: Hal file : https://pastebin.com/bW83VYyf
02:28 PM pcw_home: You might look at this for inspiration: https://forum.linuxcnc.org/media/kunena/attachments/20876/CNC01_2017-01-29.ini
02:34 PM Blumax: pcw_home, tank you, you have hal file ?
02:34 PM pcw_home: https://forum.linuxcnc.org/49-basic-configuration/32260-example-ini-and-hal-files-for-joints-axes-master-2-8-pre-dual-motor-gantry
02:34 PM gloops: z moving in UI - check for signal reaching z driver
02:35 PM pcw_home: I just googled for it
02:35 PM gloops: if it is moving linuxcnc it doesnt sound like your config is wrong
02:35 PM gloops: in linuxcnc
02:36 PM Blumax: I spent my day searching on google but I do not master English well so I miss some information :(
02:37 PM gloops: i got a 2 joint x axis, not got the files on this PC though
02:39 PM gloops: line 63 hal i think you may need another Y
02:40 PM gloops: https://forum.linuxcnc.org/49-basic-configuration/33079-how-to-2-or-more-motors-on-one-axis-gantry-linuxcnc-2-8-master
02:40 PM gloops: err INI
02:41 PM gloops: kinstype needs to be BOTH
02:53 PM Blumax: ok, I'm looking, thank you all
02:54 PM pcw_home: man trivkins also might help
02:56 PM gloops: dont generate a 5 axis stepconfig to start
04:31 PM Deejay: gn8
09:14 PM skunkworks: http://electronicsam.com/images/greenmachine/20180909_131530.jpg
09:17 PM skunkworks: http://electronicsam.com/images/greenmachine/20180909_153950.jpg
09:18 PM Tom_L: which rails are those?
09:32 PM skunkworks: this is a fix.. for some unknown reason the table is narrower than the ways.. oil troughs are showing
09:33 PM skunkworks: you can see it here http://electronicsam.com/images/greenmachine/20180908_192032.jpg
09:44 PM skunkworks: the axis sure slide nice oiled
09:46 PM skunkworks: now with flow regulators/one way valves http://electronicsam.com/images/greenmachine/20180904_190133.jpg
09:47 PM skunkworks: i think i posted that one already
09:48 PM flyback: oh canuck me
09:48 PM flyback: what did I see the other day
09:48 PM flyback: you would have thought it was backwards or something
09:48 PM flyback: someone used a grinder on
09:48 PM flyback: grinder machine tool
09:48 PM flyback: might have been a communitator
09:48 PM flyback: hmm
09:50 PM MarcelineVQ: you're drunk sir
09:50 PM flyback: nope
09:50 PM flyback: born this way
