12:25 AM IchGucksLive: Morning from a Sunny Day in Germany
12:29 AM hazzy-lab: Morning Ichs
12:29 AM IchGucksLive: morning deanforbes_
12:30 AM IchGucksLive: hazzy-lab, its getting wearer and wearer on my YT channel as people noe on §d Printer are not familiar with zero systems of Corrdinates Mashine Part Tool
12:30 AM hazzy-lab: deanforbes_: I got my STMBL kits today, the cases are great, thank you!
12:30 AM deanforbes___ is now known as deanforbes_
12:32 AM IchGucksLive: im off 2 garden
12:32 AM hazzy-lab: IchGucksLive: 3D printing is making people think they know how to run a CNC machine, when they actualy have no idea!
12:32 AM hazzy-lab: cu
12:32 AM IchGucksLive: agree
12:32 AM IchGucksLive: Haircutter shoudent be a craftsmen
12:32 AM hazzy-lab: LOL, true
12:42 AM skunkworks: i didnt understand how easy 3d printing was... suprised the heck out of me.
01:56 AM Deejay: moin
04:55 AM XXCoder: wow new robrenz video. thats rare
04:56 AM Wolf__: lol I figure the 1 on my subscription list was a youtube error
04:57 AM XXCoder: youre robenz?
04:57 AM Wolf__: its mostly his channel’s fault that I am bidding on a surface grinder
04:58 AM XXCoder: ahh lol
04:58 AM XXCoder: grinder seems amazing but I dont need it much. sometimes I wish work had em though
04:58 AM XXCoder: I';d had a side project of making my own few items just for fun and learning
04:58 AM XXCoder: one question though
04:59 AM XXCoder: how the heck do you guys flatten grind wheel so its nice and flat to surface?
04:59 AM Wolf__: dress the wheel
04:59 AM Wolf__: also done when setting cutting angle on the wheels
05:00 AM XXCoder: "dress" the wheel?
05:00 AM Wolf__: go check out some of surbuban tools vids
05:00 AM XXCoder: man lots to earn lol
05:00 AM Wolf__: yeah tons
05:01 AM XXCoder: I suspect i will always be stuck between machinist and operator
05:01 AM Wolf__: i’m somewhat pissed that i just found out yesterday that there is a king scraping class at ny-cnc on the 2nd-6th next month
05:01 AM Wolf__: too late for me to try to go to it
05:02 AM XXCoder: king acraping sounds like something kings shouldnt go to lol
05:02 AM Wolf__: richard king
05:03 AM XXCoder: ok lol
05:04 AM XXCoder: man he got lots of calipers
05:04 AM XXCoder: hes destroying another 2 for that project
05:04 AM Wolf__: who? oh that tells me who lol
05:04 AM XXCoder: I still remember his modified caliper project. was interesting'
05:04 AM XXCoder: and his stoning all kinds of sensive tooling that was kinda scary
05:05 AM Wolf__: I found his channel when I got my LCR meter, kelvin clip probs, damn insane
05:07 AM Wolf__: 7 hrs left to go on the auction I’m bidding on
05:07 AM XXCoder: cool hope you win :)
05:07 AM XXCoder: hes holding a screw. wondering if he will grind it.
05:08 AM gloops: oh for that beautiful mirror finish heh
05:08 AM XXCoder: looks like no, hes holding new one with ehx tool
05:08 AM gloops: and you thought you had mating surfaces that met - until you grind them
05:09 AM XXCoder: work has 123 block that looks worn, till you see that you can lift one 123 with another, without touching bottom one
05:09 AM XXCoder: thats pretty strong vacuum hold by very flat surfaces.
05:09 AM gloops: yeah that sounds pretty much flat
05:10 AM Wolf__: more likely wring together
05:11 AM XXCoder: my boss almost shattered a 90 degree plate by showing how it slides across freshly re-ground rock
05:11 AM XXCoder: he slid it to another hand and missed it.
05:11 AM XXCoder: he grabbed it as it was going over
05:11 AM Wolf__: lol
05:12 AM XXCoder: it was brand new 90 degree also
05:12 AM XXCoder: big one
05:12 AM jthornton: morning
05:12 AM XXCoder: hey
05:13 AM Wolf__: xotools vid on surface plate refinishing the tech doing the work mentioned the same thing happening with someone sliding a height gauge or something off a fresh lapped plate
05:13 AM XXCoder: crazy
05:13 AM XXCoder: the tiny rock I use at robos area is very chipped and bad shape, till they reground it. its now very chipped but nothing in postive range
05:14 AM XXCoder: it was from utah division that closed down
05:14 AM XXCoder: man its no wonder, everything from there was in bad shape
05:14 AM Wolf__: I need to check my plate still =/
05:14 AM XXCoder: is certification a reqirement for your shop?
05:14 AM Wolf__: not yet lol
05:15 AM Wolf__: I’m thinking about getting a auto collimator to check it out myself
05:15 AM XXCoder: can make one of those?
05:15 AM Wolf__: ebay
05:16 AM XXCoder: lol. he needed to engrave glass. he has a sharp blade. guess what he does with it
05:21 AM gloops: someone posted pics of some sandstone he#d vcarved with router and diamond V bit, looked very well, id have a go but the problem probably wouldbt be carving the stone, but cutting it to size and so on, big difference to wood
05:22 AM gloops: would take ages for the router to cut a profile out
05:28 AM Tom_itx: morning
05:32 AM Tom_itx is now known as Tom_L
05:32 AM XXCoder: hey
05:32 AM Wolf__: morning
05:32 AM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/Skate_truck/Skate_Truck1.jpg
05:32 AM Tom_L: http://tom-itx.no-ip.biz:81/~webpage/cnc/Skate_truck/Skate_truck3.jpg
05:32 AM Tom_L: still needs a couple holes
05:32 AM jthornton: what are you making?
05:32 AM Tom_L: roller skate bottom for my kids
05:32 AM jthornton: cool
05:32 AM Tom_L: getting the cob webs outta my cad cam too
05:35 AM Tom_L: 77F Hi 101
05:37 AM jthornton: 72°F high 90°F for a change
05:39 AM jthornton: yikes A blazing heat wave will consume much of the southern Plains and lower Mississippi River Valley through early next week, especially in Texas. Expect record highs temperatures and very dangerous heat indices, both surging well over 100 degrees.
06:01 AM gloops: sick of this stupid weather
06:01 AM gloops: feeding animals hay in middle of summer!
06:01 AM XXCoder: better stupid weather than forest fires
06:02 AM XXCoder: here little bit of a problem with forest fires. not like insane one last year but...
06:02 AM XXCoder: sweden I think or swiss having a HUGE forest fire problem now. so bad they are calling out for help. 11 big forest fires
06:04 AM XXCoder: man last year I was sick constantly for almost a month due to ash :(
06:05 AM XXCoder: I really really hope it dont repeat
06:05 AM XXCoder: well night
06:06 AM SpeedEvil: XXCoder: proper protective equipment ++
06:10 AM gloops: BREAKING Mystery over massive plume of smoke emerging from underneath New York street
06:11 AM SpeedEvil: Krang?
06:34 AM gloops: says massive explosion
06:34 AM gloops: possibly underground steam pipe
07:17 AM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by ChanServ
07:24 AM Beachbumpete1: Morning LinuxCNC :)
07:27 AM jdh: good afternoon
07:29 AM Beachbumpete1: heh are you out of the country or something?
07:42 AM diverdude: hi, i have installed linuxmint19. Somebody in here said yesterday that its possible to install a prempt kernel for previous version of mint and i wanted to try on 19. Anybody know where to find this bespoke kernel?
07:55 AM IchGucksLive: hi all
07:55 AM IchGucksLive: prity hot here today
07:56 AM IchGucksLive: diverdude, still here
07:56 AM diverdude: IchGucksLive: yes :)
07:56 AM IchGucksLive: there is a RT and PReampt on 18.1
07:56 AM IchGucksLive: there is a complete workflow
07:57 AM diverdude: IchGucksLive: ok - dont you think it works on 19 also?
07:57 AM IchGucksLive: 18.3
07:57 AM IchGucksLive: let me see
08:01 AM IchGucksLive: diverdude, i cand find one
08:02 AM diverdude: IchGucksLive: :( Thats too bad. maybe its not supported then
08:06 AM IchGucksLive: there is a 4.9 kernal and this shoudt work under mint19
08:10 AM IchGucksLive: till later tour de france le alp dyejes
08:30 AM Loetmichel_: *tinker* *solder* *flooding the workshop* (note to self: new pump has 1.5 bar water pressure... WAY to much for just plugged together hoses... hose clamps are a must!) Now the CNC mill spindle is cool again... and will not grow clogged again so soon, now that the cooling system is closed with no open surfaces for swarf and bacteria to fly in... MAAAN what a mess... *mopping up the workshop*
08:30 AM Loetmichel_: :-)
08:54 AM Beachbumpete1: Well guys I finally ordered my first 3d Printer last night. Excited about the possibilities of all the yoda and groot heads I will be making LOL
08:55 AM Wolf__: lol
08:55 AM Beachbumpete1: I did see a rather wicked design for a clone of the DJI Inspire online yesterday. all 3D printed and carbon tubing... pretty sweet.
08:55 AM Beachbumpete1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNySpvEQJC0&t=1s
08:57 AM Wolf__: kinda neat
08:59 AM Beachbumpete1: yeah man it is an interesting tilt arm design... uses a servo on the center section
08:59 AM Wolf__: some day I’ll bother to finish my big drone and fly it
08:59 AM Beachbumpete1: what kind of drone is it?
09:00 AM Wolf__: https://i.imgur.com/QO0HrkT.jpg I forget the name of the frame, its a 870mm octo
09:03 AM Beachbumpete1: Damn that is a nice one..
09:03 AM Beachbumpete1: impressive
09:03 AM Beachbumpete1: how much you got in that one?
09:03 AM Wolf__: just under $2k
09:04 AM Beachbumpete1: woah
09:04 AM Beachbumpete1: its gonna be amazing tho
09:04 AM Loetmichel: Wolf__: impressive... i went from carbon tubes back to aluminium tubes... MUCH cheaper to replace after a crash ;)
09:04 AM Wolf__: actually kinda scary lol
09:04 AM Beachbumpete1: most of the guys who are printing these inspire models say around $5-700
09:05 AM Wolf__: 12” carbon fiber props, frame is 1m wide
09:05 AM Wolf__: Loetmichel: plan is not to crash it lol part of the reason I’m in no rush to finish it lol
09:06 AM Wolf__: if I need to video stuff tho something like my mavic is hard to beat
09:07 AM Loetmichel: Wolf__: my biggest one: http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=12997&g2_imageViewsIndex=1
09:07 AM Loetmichel: ... no kit though.
09:07 AM Wolf__: we talked about that a week or 3-4 ago lol
09:08 AM Loetmichel: yes
09:08 AM Loetmichel: possibly
09:08 AM Loetmichel: its nearly the same size though
09:08 AM Wolf__: https://i.imgur.com/F8ToJCR.jpg
09:08 AM Wolf__: 420mm motor circle
09:12 AM Wolf__: I have a few others, (turn sound down first) https://youtu.be/p9GwPiDue8k?t=2m29s
09:20 AM Beachbumpete1: Nice builds guys sweet
09:22 AM Wolf__: working on my remote mower project has me pulling all my RC stuff back out so I might need to start crashing drones again
09:22 AM Beachbumpete1: a man after my own heart..
09:23 AM Beachbumpete1: I NEED an RC mower man BADLY
09:23 AM Beachbumpete1: I usually mowed myself but recently started paying for a guy to do it.. sucks either way. Having a cool all terrain RC mower would be the cats azz
09:24 AM Wolf__: quick and dirty RC mower, commercial hydro drive + 1/4 or 1/5 scale servos
09:24 AM Beachbumpete1: it would need to be 4x4 to work on the slopes in the front yard retention ditch
09:24 AM Wolf__: track drive or multi wheel then
09:24 AM Beachbumpete1: tracks sound PERFECT
09:25 AM Beachbumpete1: got a link to the commercial hydro drive you are talking about. I have seen folks use old battery wheelchair bases before
09:25 AM Wolf__: https://i.imgur.com/O3CnWmh.jpg
09:26 AM Wolf__: the old RC mower https://i.imgur.com/zMysgUb.jpg
09:27 AM Wolf__: I’ll be doing tracks w/ wheelchair motors and 13hp cutting deck, 22” or round about
09:30 AM Wolf__: or I might just bolt the track system up to a 48” brush hog that was a atv tow behind model
09:32 AM Beachbumpete1: WOAH that would be some kinda machine...
09:33 AM Beachbumpete1: I just would use the motor from my husky mower and remove everything but the deck frame., its a simple self propelled model...
09:34 AM Wolf__: other idea is scratch built 36” flail mower
09:36 AM Wolf__: maybe wider, depending on what lathe I can borrow time on lol
09:37 AM Beachbumpete1: LOL I gotta think some about this idea...
09:37 AM Wolf__: push mower?
09:38 AM Beachbumpete1: yeah mine is just a self propelled push mower. its a husky with rear drive and the larger wheels but none of that matters just using the deck and motor/blades make the rest
09:39 AM Beachbumpete1: I was thinking that a dual motor wheelchair setup with the wheels out front and castors out back might be easier to control direction with. especially if it is longer
09:39 AM Wolf__: yup, right angle gear motors, 60A motor controller from robotshop.com, chain or belt drive to wheels, get some semi meaty things from surplus center
09:40 AM Wolf__: if mine does well enough in my yard I was planning on checking with county and state roads for hill mowing contract work lol
09:43 AM Wolf__: 2.5 hrs left on auction, seems like people are finally starting to bid
09:51 AM Wolf__: wow and the VF3 Haas is still sitting at $7500 and no bids w/ 2hs left
10:11 AM Beachbumpete1: nice... I have a retrofit Cincinatti Arrow 500 at home
10:12 AM Wolf__: funny thing is the Okamoto 1632 surface grinder is all the way up to $6k
10:13 AM Wolf__: https://www.bidspotter.com/en-us/auction-catalogues/comly-auctioneers/catalogue-id-bscco10103/lot-4ca6b266-cbc2-4afc-9c2f-a91801564907 looks a bit big for a garage machine
10:16 AM Beachbumpete1: Looks pretty clean
10:16 AM CaptHindsight: if your garage has a 400A service or 480V
10:17 AM Wolf__: most of the machines look clean in this auction
10:17 AM Beachbumpete1: My VMC runs on 230v single phase under 60 amps
10:18 AM CaptHindsight: Florida is magic
10:20 AM Wolf__: 4 edm machines, no bids… but I know nothing about edm stuff
10:28 AM gregcnc: capt I looked at a house this week with 400A service, too bad it's pretty rough
10:47 AM Beachbumpete1: Florida is indeed magic ;)
11:13 AM gloops: oh sht, this heatwave is forecast to last another 6 weeks, back up to mid 30s at the weekend
11:19 AM Loetmichel: gloops: so?
11:37 AM gloops: Loetmichel its terrible weather i hate it
11:38 AM Loetmichel: bah, those few weeks of the year where its nice and cozy ... and you want to have your drizzle back?
11:39 AM gloops: definitely, need rain desperately
11:43 AM mozmck: 30's? It hit right about 43C here yesterday, may be a little higher today.
11:45 AM gloops: mozmck i wouldnt live there
11:48 AM Wolf__: heh, auction priced dropped on that VM3, dont think I have seen that before
11:49 AM Beachbumpete1: you mean you have not bought it yet? ;)
11:49 AM Wolf__: I dont (yes I do) want that thing
11:50 AM Wolf__: no place to put it
11:50 AM Beachbumpete1: you KNOW you want it..
11:50 AM Wolf__: not in the budget
11:50 AM Beachbumpete1: Nothing ever is for me LOL
11:51 AM Wolf__: stuff i’m bidding on isnt either lmao
11:51 AM Wolf__: my hope is to flip a couple things if I win the other stuff I have bids on
11:51 AM Beachbumpete1: I am anxious to get that 3D printer I ordered tho that should make for a few giggles....
11:53 AM Wolf__: 9min left its at 5500 lol
11:53 AM Wolf__: 1632 surface grinder is at 12k … damn
11:53 AM Beachbumpete1: hell you can make that back on the first job with it ;)
11:54 AM andypugh: There is a broken laser cutter on eBay for £250. I wonder if it is worth it?
11:54 AM Beachbumpete1: andypugh you can fix it man you know you want it hehehe
11:55 AM Beachbumpete1: I watched a couple videos last night where people were adapting lasers to the 3d Printer fram I just purchased. Pretty cool stuff...
11:55 AM andypugh: Well, a non-broken one is only £360
11:56 AM Wolf__: diode laser is meh imo
11:56 AM andypugh: The idea of a laser in a printer with no extract and no interlocks and no filters terrifies me
11:56 AM Beachbumpete1: true
11:56 AM Beachbumpete1: it seemed to work pretty well actually
11:57 AM Beachbumpete1: he was cutting thinner plywood with it and engraving all sorts of stuff..
11:57 AM Wolf__: 1/16” ?
11:58 AM Beachbumpete1: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXOupF-J-6E
11:59 AM Wolf__: 7min left on my first bid lot
11:59 AM IchGucksLive: hi
11:59 AM gregcnc: see that vf3 is at 10k
11:59 AM Loetmichel: andypugh: ah, another weakling
12:00 PM andypugh: Loetmichel: Whilst not disagreeing, why do you say so?
12:00 PM * Loetmichel s friend built an 80W CO2 laser cutter with 1*1m travel on the table.... with no covers or interlocks whatsoever... and no laser glasses in reach...
12:01 PM Loetmichel: i always felt slightly irritatet when it ran and i was in the room ;)
12:01 PM gregcnc: did he lock you in?
12:01 PM Wolf__: co2 is oddly more eye safe then diode laser
12:01 PM andypugh: Maybe I spent too long in optics labs being lectured to as a youth.
12:02 PM Loetmichel: gregcnc: nope, just not irritated enough to leave.. irritated enough to put a concrete pillar in the middle of the room between me and the laser head most of the time though ;)
12:03 PM Loetmichel: Wolf__: because of wavelenth or because of short focus lenght?
12:03 PM Wolf__: wavelength
12:03 PM Loetmichel: interesting
12:03 PM Loetmichel: didnt know that
12:03 PM Wolf__: co2 = cornea transplant, diode = burnt rents
12:04 PM Wolf__: rentia
12:04 PM Loetmichel: 80W is still plenty to be the last thing you've ever seen. even when the primary beam gets somehow reflected into your eye.
12:04 PM Beachbumpete1: LOL
12:05 PM Loetmichel: it may be about 10mm diameter then... still way more power per square mm than good for you ;)
12:05 PM andypugh: At college we discussed “phase conjugate mittors”. Those can have reflectivity > 1 and will then form a laser cavity with anything shiny. Including your eyeball…
12:05 PM andypugh: (Phase conjugate mirrors)
12:07 PM Wolf__: well, I now own a Reid surface grinder lol
12:07 PM Beachbumpete1: woah congrats man did you have to pay the 12k?
12:07 PM Wolf__: 450
12:07 PM Beachbumpete1: sweet
12:07 PM gregcnc: lol not the same grinder
12:08 PM rmu: andypugh: how is that possible, that can't be a simple mirror
12:08 PM Wolf__: yeah not that big ass grinder
12:09 PM andypugh: rmu: No https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nonlinear_optics#Optical_phase_conjugation
12:11 PM rmu: you have to feed in some energy somehow
12:12 PM andypugh: Yes, you need to optically pump it, typically.
12:12 PM rmu: i heard something about "disc lasers", i suspect they work similar to this
12:16 PM gloops: $450 dollars doesnt sound bad for a surface grinder
12:40 PM Wolf__: I got in a bid fight over magnetic sine plates… I lost
12:50 PM gloops: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MAGNETIC-SURFACE-TABLE-ADJUSTABLE-CHUCK-10-X-5-MST006/332694697485?
12:51 PM gloops: looks slightly battered though
12:51 PM Wolf__: yeah but less beat to death
12:51 PM gloops: plenty on ebay anyway
12:52 PM Wolf__: 2 were suburban tools
12:52 PM Wolf__: $$$
12:52 PM Wolf__: lot of 3 went for $900
12:53 PM Wolf__: mostly my fault whom ever didn’t get them all for $300 lol
12:58 PM Wolf__: ok, thats over with, now own Reid 618HL surface grinder, a wall of grinding wheels, 3x radius dressers, 4 sets of magnetic parallels, 4 toolmakers vises, a band file and one really ugly cabinet full of misc broaches and center drills lol
01:04 PM Wolf__: https://portal-images.azureedge.net/auctions-2018/bscco10103/images/a634813d-4e1b-43da-b348-9b09b2ad3015.jpg $25 =D
01:05 PM gloops: looks like youre now officially in the surface grinding business
01:05 PM Wolf__: least I have wheels to burn while trying to learn it lol
01:07 PM Wolf__: missed a couple things, got beat out on a few others but total was only $960
01:07 PM Wolf__: + tax and auction house fee
01:11 PM gloops: id be happy enough with the grinder and wheels etc, nice toy to play with there
01:13 PM Wolf__: the wheels and the wheel dresser lot I think was the real steal
01:19 PM Wolf__: so, cnc a surface grinder?
01:20 PM gloops: yeah
01:21 PM gloops: but wouldnt removed the handles or anything
01:21 PM gloops: can still use it as manual with motors power off
01:22 PM Wolf__: yeah, thats what I was thinking
01:22 PM Wolf__: or full disconnect of the motors some way
01:28 PM Wolf__: getting ahead of myself tho
01:28 PM Wolf__: step 1 get stuff home
01:48 PM gloops: lol, yeah, some weight in that id guess
01:54 PM Wolf__: yup, I’ll be mounting the box body on a skid for my truck this weekend
02:41 PM CaptHindsight: can LCNC use more Blockchain, Agile or SCRUM?
02:42 PM methods_: it can control 6 buzzwords simultaneously
02:42 PM methods_: up to
02:43 PM CaptHindsight: only 6... well who would need more than 6 synchronized?
02:44 PM CaptHindsight: well as son as you say that somebody always finds a way to use 7
02:45 PM methods_: i'm sure you want to use an arduino for this right
02:45 PM CaptHindsight: hah, only losers would use a PC with all that overkill
02:46 PM methods_: whew i thought you might be one of those PC krazies
02:47 PM CaptHindsight: was just looking at business tech networking events and the most popular are software with the above buzzwords
02:47 PM methods_: you forgot the other 3 axes
02:47 PM methods_: VR, AR, and quantum
02:48 PM CaptHindsight: and AI
02:48 PM methods_: oh yup
02:50 PM CaptHindsight: http://projects.wsj.com/buzzwords2014/#p=0%7C6,18%7C24%7C%7C1%7C%7C0 if you need more
02:51 PM CaptHindsight: and used in a sentence
02:53 PM CaptHindsight: "Customer Experience Consulting"
02:54 PM CaptHindsight: it sounds like it's right from the Onion
02:54 PM XXCoder: poor onion. its having hard time beating reality
03:00 PM CaptHindsight: was thinking of ideas to prevent autonomous cars from becoming weapons
03:01 PM XXCoder: its impossible to predict what will happen with autonomous cars
03:02 PM CaptHindsight: well they will become near autonomous
03:02 PM methods_: i predict they will get in accidents
03:02 PM CaptHindsight: but require backdoors like your phone and PC
03:02 PM XXCoder: I just hope tjey smarten up and secure computer system in cars
03:03 PM CaptHindsight: they will be secure from you, the user
03:03 PM XXCoder: right now its as secure as warehouse with all doors open with signs "welcome! free gold bars handout day"
03:04 PM XXCoder: if I personally were ceo if car company, I would force them to make seperate system for enterainement system, which includes wireless connections, and control system for car, which doesnt.
03:05 PM CaptHindsight: XXCoder: see you are thinking about this rationally, and that is not going to work
03:05 PM CaptHindsight: think like a 70 year old body with the development of a pre-teen
03:10 PM XXCoder: I just read that calfornia passed a law requiring companies to have online way to cancel stuff now
03:10 PM XXCoder: so no more easy to sub online but must call during business hours to cancel
03:10 PM CaptHindsight: likely just end up keeping ground based away from the important people
03:11 PM CaptHindsight: no cars within 1000ft of a important person area
03:13 PM Wolf__: so… moving a V ways surface grinder, just strap the thing down to a pallet tight and all will be ok?
03:14 PM Wolf__: ^ moving by truck ~5hrs of PA crappy roads
03:14 PM CaptHindsight: yeah
03:15 PM CaptHindsight: strap the moving parts and then strap to the pallet
03:15 PM Wolf__: I know you shouldn’t do that with the roller ball machines
03:15 PM XXCoder: Wolf__: congats!!
03:16 PM Wolf__: I think the worst part is going to be packing all the wheels lol
03:17 PM XXCoder: fun. any pics?
03:18 PM Wolf__: just the auction site ones
03:20 PM Wolf__: let me make up a imgur album
03:20 PM XXCoder: ok :)
03:27 PM Wolf__: https://imgur.com/a/vCNoXKa only 7 lots
03:27 PM Wolf__: was too much of a bid fight over some of the other lots I was after
03:28 PM XXCoder: I see it come with bunch of magnet holders not bad
03:29 PM XXCoder: and really super dirty drawers lol
03:29 PM XXCoder: you probably can save gallons of fuel just by wiping dirt off lol
03:29 PM XXCoder: interesting
03:30 PM Wolf__: thats all separate auction lots, grinder, wheels, wheel dressers (good score), magnetic transfer parallels, and that very dirty cabinet lol
03:31 PM XXCoder: so you got 2 lots, grinder itself and wheels?
03:31 PM Wolf__: yup
03:31 PM Wolf__: grinder was $450, wheels went for $25 lol
03:33 PM Wolf__: cabinet was 100… plus what looks like 8 hrs of cleaning
03:34 PM XXCoder: lol
03:34 PM Wolf__: but I think that is a lista cabinet
03:36 PM CaptHindsight: https://imgur.com/gallery/7i9EwRZ how do you get motion control jobs like this?
03:37 PM CaptHindsight: didn't SWPandos do film work?
03:43 PM skunkworks: I know he did camera w
03:43 PM skunkworks: work
03:43 PM XXCoder: CaptHindsight: did you ever look up how they did the LSD trip part of 2001? it was interesting
03:43 PM XXCoder: basically super long exposure slot and slowing moving inwards
03:44 PM XXCoder: I wonder if it can be done nowdays, I dont know if digitial cameras can do exposure that long
03:44 PM XXCoder: cnc can do rest
03:45 PM XXCoder: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kBMArUuHXDI
03:46 PM XXCoder: better one, orginial movie (first is edited) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ou6JNQwPWE0
03:47 PM CaptHindsight: was the 60's and that was just about all the opening and closing credits to any scifi in the 70's
03:47 PM gloops: how long? you can keep the shutter open indefinitely, so long as the power doesnt fail
03:47 PM XXCoder: oh unure lemme find that article
03:48 PM XXCoder: https://nofilmschool.com/2013/08/learn-how-to-create-slit-screen-sequences
03:50 PM XXCoder: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KhRo2WbWnKU
03:52 PM gloops: thats just tweening in flash?
03:54 PM XXCoder: 60 second exposure
03:54 PM XXCoder: moving inwards whole time, per single slot position
03:55 PM gloops: well, that would have like a zoom effect
03:55 PM gloops: you wouldnt get motion
03:55 PM gregcnc: basically the same idea as your cell phone doing panoramic
03:55 PM Deejay: gn8
03:56 PM gloops: https://www.photographyblog.com/uploads/entryImages/_AUTOx630_fit_center-center_90/zoom_blur_01.jpg
03:56 PM gloops: zooming with shutter open does that
03:59 PM XXCoder: his own version of 2001 scene was funny
04:02 PM Wolf__: CaptHindsight: back to the optical alignment stuff, lower end price range (ebay used) have any suggestions? I’m leaning towards something like a Davidson D600 right now, but dont really know what I’m getting in to
04:07 PM grotius: Hi guy's i have a question about expanding macro codes in linuxcnc
04:08 PM gloops: evening grotius
04:09 PM grotius: I have made an array to M400 within this file src/emc/rs274ngc/interp_array.cc.... Dont search the file location. I just need a few tips
04:10 PM grotius: In linux when i use the M400, the terminal message is stil : uber 200 is not allowed.
04:11 PM grotius: So i must change more core files, must i only look in this section tommorow : src/emc/rs274ngc
04:11 PM andypugh: Why M400? I thought that only 0 to 99 were available.
04:12 PM grotius: It is this now : group 10 = {m100..m199} - user-defined
04:13 PM grotius: So i wanted to make M100 to M400
04:13 PM andypugh: OK
04:19 PM grotius: My attention was also that there is a max. number of M codes allowed at one line. This code was written when pentium was founded. So i think also increase this number.
04:31 PM CaptHindsight: Wolf__: all depends on what shape it is still in
04:32 PM Wolf__: hopefully working lol
04:40 PM Wolf__: I know that part is somewhat of a gamble
04:41 PM gregcnc: C-130 doing a loop https://youtu.be/LDE3Dp3LGZg?t=6m41s
04:44 PM DaViruz: wow.
05:23 PM grotius: have a good night.
05:27 PM JT-Shop: hazzy-dev: if you get a chance to look at this I'd appreciate it http://gnipsel.com/files/7i96/7i96.zip
05:30 PM hazzy-lab: JT-Shop: Did you see the revised files I sent yesterday?
05:32 PM hazzy-lab: Yes you did :)
05:41 PM * Tecan- >>> Auto-op est suspendu...
05:49 PM hazzy-lab: gregcnc: I watched the construction and test flights of the 2500th Super Hercules, beautiful machines and they keep on getting better
05:49 PM hazzy-lab: (I have watched the assembly and test flights of probably several 100)
05:51 PM hazzy-lab: JT-Shop: you around?
05:55 PM hazzy-lab: Tecan: How is the printer build coming along?
05:56 PM Tecan: im stuck on ramps 1.4
05:56 PM Tecan: i might not be giving the steppers enough amps as im using a wallwart
05:57 PM Tecan: the holding torque lets the motors spin still so im not sure what to do
06:00 PM hazzy-lab: Yeah, sounds like power supply it not sufficient
06:05 PM JT-Shop: hazzy-dev: yes
06:06 PM Tecan: i made a smoke show on one driver by putting it in backwards. was a different design thought the adjustment screw should be on the same side as the others
06:07 PM Tecan: the purple ones are opposite to the red ones off ebay
06:08 PM hazzy-lab: JT-Shop: Your problem is with the way you are using self
06:08 PM JT-Shop: I thought so, just could not figure out what should be used
06:08 PM hazzy-lab: self it no different than any other argument or variable, it is just convention to call it self
06:10 PM hazzy-lab: self it simply a reference to a class instance
06:10 PM hazzy-lab: shoot, gtg
06:11 PM hazzy-lab: I will finish explaining in a bit
06:11 PM JT-Shop: ok, I never fully understood self
06:11 PM JT-Shop: thanks
06:19 PM * JT-Shop wanders back to the chicken yard
06:36 PM * hazzy-lab is back
06:36 PM hazzy-lab: OK, so self it a reference to a class instance
06:38 PM hazzy-lab: when you call an instance method (e.g. self.myMethod()) the class instance is passed as the first arg to the method
06:41 PM hazzy-lab: hence when you define an instance method in a class you say "def myMethod(self)", you could just as well say "def myMethod(class_instance)", but it is conventional to use self for the first arg
06:43 PM hazzy-lab: Now, where you are running into problems is when you call a module level method (i.e. methods defined in a module, instead of in a class).
06:46 PM hazzy-lab: python does not pass any args to a module method, so unless you pass the class instance specifically self will not be defined in the methods name space
06:47 PM jthornton: ah should I make dialog.py a class?
06:47 PM jthornton: I'm in and out
06:48 PM hazzy-lab: You could, but then self would refer to it's self, rather than the main window instance, which is what you need
06:49 PM hazzy-lab: I think the best thing to do would be to pass a reference to the main window to each of the methods in dialog.py (that is what I did with my changed yesterday)
06:50 PM hazzy-lab: You could also move all the dialog.py stuff inside the MainWindow class
06:51 PM hazzy-lab: I think what you are doing it best, but you have to keep in ming that you have to specifically pass a reference to the main window (which I called parent)
06:51 PM hazzy-lab: I will make the changes to make that work and send it back
06:53 PM hazzy-lab: Hopefully I did not muddy the waters more, I am an expert at doing that :D
07:06 PM hazzy-lab: jthornton: files.kcjengr.com/dev/7i96_kcj_rev3.tar.gz

07:07 PM hazzy-lab: oops xD
07:16 PM -!- #linuxcnc mode set to +v by livingstone.freenode.net

08:22 PM Lcvette: Hello?
08:23 PM Tom_L: hello?
08:24 PM Tom_L: goodbye
08:26 PM Lcvette[m]: Hello
08:26 PM Tom_L: ?
08:26 PM Tom_L: you gonna leave too?
08:30 PM hazzy-lab: Lcvette: Hello?
08:36 PM Lcvette[m]: Lcvette (@lcvette:matrix.org): I can't see anyone
08:37 PM hazzy-lab: LOL
08:38 PM hazzy-lab: he did leave xD
08:38 PM Tom_L: he's got one more left
08:39 PM Tom_L: you playin musical chairs there?
08:39 PM hazzy-lab: there is a net split
08:40 PM Tom_L: mmm
08:40 PM hazzy-lab: he can't see or hear any thing that goes on in here
08:40 PM hazzy-lab: but he can talk, lol
08:40 PM Tom_L: then he's on the same server link as us
08:40 PM Tom_L: if he can talk
08:40 PM hazzy-lab: I am chatting with he on a different chan
08:40 PM hazzy-lab: him+
08:41 PM Tom_L: oh
08:41 PM Tom_L: well tell him to change servers
08:41 PM Tom_L: i usually let mine pick it's own
08:41 PM hazzy-lab: he is on matrix, don't know it that is possible
08:42 PM hazzy1[m]: testing
08:43 PM hazzy-lab: hazzy1[m]: can you hear me?
08:43 PM Tom_L: no but i can see what you type
08:43 PM hazzy-lab: LOL, it does not go thru
08:43 PM Lcvette[m]: I see ypu
08:43 PM hazzy-lab: strange
08:44 PM Lcvette[m]: But I have a spinning wheel up top still
08:44 PM hazzy-lab: Lcvette[m]: Do you see this? say 123 if so
08:44 PM Tom_L: 456
08:44 PM hazzy-lab: xD
08:46 PM hazzy-lab: Some how it only works in one direction, we can send messages to here, but don't receive ones from here
08:47 PM Tom_L: turn on full duplex :)
08:47 PM hazzy-lab: hehe
08:48 PM hazzy-lab: oh well, I'm off to eat cake
09:37 PM hazzy1[m] is now known as hazzy1[m]1
09:43 PM hazzy1[m]1 is now known as hazzy1[m]2
09:49 PM hazzy1[m]2 is now known as hazzy-m
11:28 PM Lcvette: JOIN
11:28 PM Lcvette: Hello
11:28 PM Lcvette: Still busted?
11:30 PM Lcvette: Anyone getting this?
11:33 PM Lcvette: Somebody broke the internet
11:35 PM hazzy-lab: wasn't me, I promise
11:36 PM Lcvette: Hey...I see you
