12:38 AM Deejay: moin
12:50 AM hazzy-lab: morning Deejay
12:51 AM XXCoder: morning hazzy-lab
12:53 AM hazzy-lab: morning XXCoder
12:54 AM XXCoder: whats up
12:56 AM hazzy-lab: Not much, just working on making a better probe screen
12:57 AM XXCoder: probe gui?
12:57 AM hazzy-lab: so far I can call a sub: https://youtu.be/2DDIHwgHZkI
12:57 AM hazzy-lab: yes
12:57 AM hazzy-lab: baby steps :D
12:58 AM XXCoder: interesting
12:58 AM XXCoder: your video?
12:58 AM hazzy-lab: yeah
12:59 AM hazzy-lab: just a few minutes old
12:59 AM hazzy-lab: What I am truing to do it making possible to pass args to a subroutine from a GUI
12:59 AM hazzy-lab: trying*
01:00 AM hazzy-lab: The that will be used as the basis of a probe screen like this: https://matrix.org/_matrix/media/v1/download/matrix.org/BIPGaHsJXBgcieWdOnXRwWdW
01:01 AM XXCoder: that looks like decent gui yeah
01:02 AM CaptHindsight: my eyes
01:02 AM CaptHindsight: ah my eyes
01:02 AM CaptHindsight: :)
01:02 AM XXCoder: dmn we didnt add enough gray text on gray background
01:03 AM XXCoder: or maybe neon green on darker neon green background?
01:03 AM XXCoder: ;)
01:03 AM hazzy-lab: lol
01:04 AM hazzy-lab: That is an ugly screen, but is is a mach3 screen, so what do you expect?
01:04 AM hazzy-lab: xD
01:06 AM hazzy-lab: 2am here and I'm covered in oil and grease, better go take a shower and get some sleep
01:06 AM hazzy-lab: gn8
01:07 AM XXCoder: night
01:07 AM hazzy-lab: shoot, but there is still coffee left
01:09 AM hazzy-lab: not any more ;)
01:15 AM Wolf__: probe routine is relevant to my interests
01:16 AM XXCoder: i wanna probe some 3d models with it also
01:26 AM IchGucksLive: hi all
01:26 AM IchGucksLive: XXCoder, you get faster andbetter results with your smartphone
01:27 AM XXCoder: oh 3d shape scanner yeah I know of such
01:27 AM IchGucksLive: Wolf__, only touch probe Z or XY
01:28 AM IchGucksLive: Wolf__, i made 5 Buttons and did it that way
01:28 AM Wolf__: renishaw so yes
01:28 AM IchGucksLive: you can make a entry field that graps the tool diameter and caculate on this
01:29 AM IchGucksLive: and a M code reloads the screen
01:29 AM IchGucksLive: so you are at the probe end at the realtime
01:29 AM IchGucksLive: XXCoder, you can get it also free ofline
01:32 AM XXCoder: offline?
01:34 AM IchGucksLive: 123D is autodesk only online
01:35 AM XXCoder: ah I dont plan to use autodesk
01:36 AM IchGucksLive: insight3d.sourceforge.net
01:39 AM IchGucksLive: this is for height modells of face onyl http://cvl-demos.cs.nott.ac.uk/vrn/
01:40 AM XXCoder: thats pretty cool
01:40 AM XXCoder: im pretty sure its a requirement for androids someday, so they can figure what they are seeing, in 3d world
01:44 AM Wolf__: lidar does that
01:49 AM XXCoder: well thats where it gets data
01:50 AM XXCoder: im talking about internal compution and modeling
01:50 AM XXCoder: so it figures and learns if reality matches modeling
01:58 AM IchGucksLive: im off 2 garden the Lake beatch is filling very quick this morning
05:08 AM jthornton: morning
05:08 AM XXCoder: yo
05:08 AM Deejay: yo ;)
05:52 AM Tom_L: morning
05:53 AM XXCoder: yo
06:33 AM jelly-home is now known as jelly
06:37 AM Sabotend_ is now known as Sabotender
06:57 AM gloops: well, a days machining wasted thanks to the drunken antics of the neighbours last night
06:58 AM jthornton: what did they do?
07:00 AM XXCoder: hopefully not by entering your shop and dicking around
07:00 AM gloops: kept me up while 2.30
07:01 AM gloops: too tired to be messing about with machines
07:01 AM gloops: also - too hot lol
07:02 AM jthornton: damn it's 80°F already at 7am with 90% humidity
07:02 AM XXCoder: dang
08:03 AM gloops: this looked very bad at the NATO summit https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AYRRlOfL3rA
08:27 AM IchGucksLive: hi all
08:27 AM IchGucksLive: it is super hot outside 33C air at the alke
08:28 AM IchGucksLive: lake
08:30 AM IchGucksLive: im off just a check of thunderstrorms around
09:18 AM tjb1: must be nice to go to work drunk
09:18 AM tjb1: or like the arizona guy bragging to the cop that he drives 140
09:18 AM tjb1: I really picked the wrong profession...
09:51 AM Tom_L: 74°f
09:51 AM Tom_L: rain cooled things down a bit
09:52 AM hazzy-lab: .weather Atlanta
09:53 AM hazzy-lab: aww, the wee birdie is not here
09:54 AM hazzy-lab: It's 80F here and 80% RH :(
10:07 AM pcw_home: 60F here, pacific ocean air conditioning has kicked in...
10:09 AM tjb1: 83F, 55% RH in New York
11:34 AM IchGucksLive: hi all
11:34 AM IchGucksLive: tjb1, are you arond NY
11:35 AM tjb1: yes
11:35 AM tjb1: near Corning
11:39 AM IchGucksLive: that is far west
11:39 AM tjb1: yeah, the good part of NY
11:39 AM IchGucksLive: NY state is almost like here in Germany
11:40 AM IchGucksLive: thats why so many are from germany there
11:41 AM IchGucksLive: 14000 YT hits today
11:41 AM IchGucksLive: 1400
11:41 AM IchGucksLive: what happend Big M faild
11:44 AM IchGucksLive: gloops how they lost the confidence
11:48 AM tjb1: what do you post on youtube?
11:54 AM IchGucksLive: linuxcnc stuff
11:55 AM tjb1: link?
11:58 AM IchGucksLive: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmwhCL92ZQRSVqFe3jGwJSQ/videos
11:59 AM tjb1: cool stuff!
12:05 PM IchGucksLive: workable things
12:15 PM IchGucksLive: hi holzjunkie
12:15 PM holzjunkie: IchGucksLive: hi
12:15 PM IchGucksLive: it is getting thundry here
12:15 PM IchGucksLive: lots of people leaving the lake beatch
12:16 PM IchGucksLive: with pink swimm utils
12:16 PM IchGucksLive: very lart things
12:16 PM IchGucksLive: large
12:17 PM holzjunkie: no more pictures for my head please
12:17 PM IchGucksLive: holzjunkie, if makerman joins he is near me tell him im always here at 19:00
12:18 PM holzjunkie: no prob if i read him i´ll do so
12:18 PM IchGucksLive: Bye Gn8 from the old Germany
12:18 PM holzjunkie: bye
12:48 PM miss0r: I just a a fun little task at hand. I got a 1948 two stroke moped single cylinder motor started. Remarkably good shape :) Now I will see what it'll take to turn the rusted heap of a chassis into something presentable :D
12:49 PM hazzy-lab: miss0r: Sweet!
12:50 PM miss0r: Yeah. it was pretty fun. I threw together a small bracked adapter so I could start it with a cordless drill. The moped it came from was basically a motorized bike, so you had to paddle it up to speed before releasing the clutch to engage the motor
12:50 PM miss0r: That was not an option :)
12:52 PM CaptHindsight: what is the life expectancy of a cordless drill used under fresh water?
12:53 PM hazzy-lab: CaptHindsight: quite long :D
12:53 PM CaptHindsight: 1000 years?
12:54 PM hazzy-lab: I made a RC boat with a drill for the motor, it ran great for a long time
12:54 PM hazzy-lab: The motor was submerged for "cooling"
12:54 PM hazzy-lab: ;)
01:10 PM jesseg: hazzy-dev, under fresh water I presume :D
01:11 PM jesseg: CaptHindsight, actually the motor would probably run a while under fresh water, the electronic speed control module however may die on contact or soon thereafter.. your mileage may vary. Conditions apply :P
01:15 PM CaptHindsight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3aUZXE8Ij6A Nemo Power Tools Demo: Angle Grinder and Hammer Drill
01:16 PM CaptHindsight: for the fish people
01:17 PM hazzy-lab: That's some nice video work
01:17 PM hazzy-lab: Not so easy underwater
01:18 PM hazzy-lab: jesseg: Yes, fresh water\
01:19 PM jesseg: haha guy goes into the ER "Yeah nurse I was running the hammer drill and I got a fish in my eye"
01:26 PM hazzy-lab: LOL
02:55 PM Tom_L: quiet day
03:01 PM hazzy-lab: real real, quite. kinda unusual for a staterday
03:03 PM CaptHindsight: we need more users in cooler climates
03:04 PM gloops: this is a cooler climate
03:04 PM gloops: when it isnt 96f
03:04 PM CaptHindsight: used to be
03:04 PM CaptHindsight: that fake climate change has changed it
03:04 PM gloops: nah, this is only a flash in the pan
03:05 PM CaptHindsight: gods punishment for leaving the EU
03:05 PM gloops: if we ever leave
03:05 PM gloops: did you see the glorius president of the EU at nato summit?
03:05 PM CaptHindsight: " either hot or cold, lukewarm and I'll spit you out" Jesus
03:06 PM gregcnc: http://www.freedomworks.org/content/13-worst-predictions-made-earth-day-1970
03:06 PM CaptHindsight: it's all in that book written by god
03:06 PM gloops: the aliens only visit in the hottest years
03:08 PM CaptHindsight: who wants to visit a cold planet, duh
03:08 PM gregcnc: like visiting North Dakota in January
03:08 PM gloops: reptiles probably wouldnt
03:08 PM gloops: highly likely that other intelligent species are reptiles, not mammals
03:09 PM gregcnc: maybe they are heating the planet to make it more habitable
03:09 PM gloops: maybe
03:09 PM CaptHindsight: reptile fruit hybrids
03:10 PM gloops: there are signs that this ecological era is coming to an end
03:11 PM gregcnc: it was a good run
03:12 PM gloops: luckily machines dont mind 40C
03:13 PM Tom_L: well i'm headin out in the heat to prove out this program i think
03:15 PM gloops: ive been practising with blender on and off, slowly getting the hang of it
03:16 PM CaptHindsight: working on an animated film?
03:28 PM gloops: no just modelling, i might take it to rigging and animation just for fun ..one day
03:31 PM gloops: for decor and any kind of artistic modelling really, the vector based drawing apps are wholly inadequate
03:31 PM gloops: only mesh can do it properly
03:31 PM gloops: daunting for a beginner and agonisingly slow to start, but its actually pretty easy
03:32 PM CaptHindsight: I prefer tempra paint and brush for that
03:33 PM gloops: i dont like sculpting, i know a lot use it but you dont have the same control
03:35 PM gloops: only thing is you need a clear sharp head for modelling, and its just been too hot and muggy to concentrate
03:38 PM CaptHindsight: how did people sit and concentrate before air conditioning or cooler weather?
03:38 PM CaptHindsight: ice baths?
03:39 PM CaptHindsight: can a person train themselves to concentrate in hot and humid conditions?
03:39 PM gloops: they had sabs wafting them with ostrich feathers and palm leaves
03:40 PM XXCoder: CaptHindsight: they grew up in it, its just fine lol
03:40 PM Rab: They didn't move to places like Phoenix AZ.
03:40 PM XXCoder: I grew up poor. no AC
03:41 PM gloops: its true, the people trapped in ice regions were the innovators, very little creativity in hot climes
03:41 PM CaptHindsight: the internet wasn't invented in Mexico was it
03:42 PM CaptHindsight: or Cambodia
03:42 PM CaptHindsight: besides tropical disease what has ever been invented in hot and humid?
03:42 PM gloops: not a lot
03:43 PM gloops: we'll just have to work in the winter only
03:44 PM CaptHindsight: wasn't one of those nordic countries the hub of cellphones before Samsung and Apple invented rounded corners
03:44 PM XXCoder: winter will be shorter
03:44 PM gloops: it wasnt this year
03:44 PM gloops: record winter followed by record summer
03:46 PM CaptHindsight: damn libtards with their climate propaganda
03:47 PM gloops: its just the natural cycle, happens every 50 years or so
03:47 PM gloops: look at the bible - 7 years famine followed by 7 years plenty
03:47 PM CaptHindsight: same for CO2 levels, made up science mumbo jumbo
03:48 PM CaptHindsight: that was because Moses lost his sandals
03:49 PM XXCoder: ... said frog sitting in slowly boiling water
03:49 PM gloops: well, an ice age is due whatever man does
03:50 PM gloops: even if the temps are climbing at this moment, the long term decline cannot be stopped
03:50 PM CaptHindsight: well really the Pharaoh of Egypt hid them
03:50 PM CaptHindsight: they used to kid really big in those days
03:51 PM gloops: cold is a stimulant, cold makes you think and get up and do something
03:51 PM gloops: heat is the opposite, your brain shuts down to save water
03:52 PM gloops: your head is nothing more than a giant radiator
03:52 PM Deejay: gn8
03:52 PM XXCoder: thats not true. that 80% from head? test was very cold room, person was wearing very warm coat and clothes but no hat
03:53 PM XXCoder: of course head was radating 80% of heat. much more tests were in nude. heat radition was much more even.
03:53 PM CaptHindsight: speak for yourself
03:53 PM gloops: it becomes obvious if you try wearing a hat XXCoder
03:53 PM CaptHindsight: without a head people would overheat and die
03:53 PM XXCoder: nah they would rapidly cool
03:53 PM gloops: about 80% of the brain is never used you know
03:53 PM CaptHindsight: that how it works
03:54 PM XXCoder: to room temperate. after all dead dont generate heat
03:54 PM gloops: it could well be that larger brains evolved simply to control body temp
03:54 PM XXCoder: gloops: also a myth'
03:54 PM gloops: nothing to do with intelligence
03:54 PM XXCoder: we use 100% of brain at all time
03:54 PM CaptHindsight: sure they do, they even expand from the gasses forming within
03:54 PM XXCoder: lol
03:55 PM gloops: XXCoder you can do most things with a brain the size of a hazelnut
03:55 PM CaptHindsight: speak for yourself :)
03:56 PM CaptHindsight: I'm proud of my hazelnut brain
03:58 PM gloops: well the reptilian brain stem, which is good enough for fish and crocodiles is just a knotty bunch of nerve endings - we could probably survive just using that
03:58 PM gloops: the neocortex is a very recent addition, only a few mm of grey much on the outside
03:58 PM gloops: mush
04:01 PM XXCoder: https://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xxjyjPZIMxI/VG3L46-ifNI/AAAAAAAAAto/bU4jqFSNN2E/s1600/lucy.jpg yep real world
04:04 PM gloops: how do you explain hairlessness in humans XXCoder?
04:04 PM XXCoder: sex appeal
04:04 PM XXCoder: no hair means easy to see if no parastes and all
04:05 PM CaptHindsight: parasites are bald?
04:05 PM gloops: doesnt help in -30c though
04:05 PM tiwake: heh
04:06 PM XXCoder: who said evolution has to make sense?
04:06 PM XXCoder: its a blind process
04:06 PM tiwake: answersingenesis also says that it does not make sense
04:08 PM gloops: yes thats something to consider tiwake
04:08 PM gloops: im quite open to creation theories
04:08 PM XXCoder: creation is far too small minded, failing to consider how large universe is.
04:08 PM tiwake: gloops: nothing I've seen does not fit the model
04:09 PM XXCoder: if I was a god, I would rather come up with physics complex enough to have intellegance arise than make everything myself directly.
04:10 PM gloops: i suppose it depends on the creation theory
04:11 PM gloops: tiwake does yours use a general framework like that or did the creator design every detail?
04:13 PM tiwake: gloops: designed to be flexible and structured at the same time? because literally everything is like that... biological and non-biological systems
04:15 PM CaptHindsight: https://imgur.com/gallery/SJzxDhk
04:16 PM tiwake: CaptHindsight: an no fire hazard
04:16 PM tiwake: genius
04:16 PM tiwake: *and
04:17 PM gloops: unless it isnt windy
04:18 PM tiwake: though if it does spill, there will be a lot of unhappy people... which is a different kind of hazard
04:22 PM XXCoder: thats nice idea lol
05:01 PM hendrik_cnc: does someone a way to probe the material height in gmoccappy?
05:01 PM hendrik_cnc: *know
05:57 PM hazzy-lab: How does one check if an arg was passed to a sub?
05:58 PM hazzy-lab: Seems like the right thing to use would be EXISTS, but I can't get it to work
06:00 PM hazzy-lab: one problem is that EXISTS only takes a named parameter, so I can't pass it the numbered parameter that gets passed to the sub directly
06:26 PM Connor1 is now known as Connor
06:36 PM tjb1: what is the red square in sheetcam? https://i.imgur.com/nFDG2ip.png
06:38 PM XXCoder: stock?
06:38 PM XXCoder: dunno I dont use sheetcam
06:39 PM tjb1: found it, you are correct
06:42 PM XXCoder: nice
06:42 PM XXCoder: correct by pure luck lol
06:44 PM XXCoder: okay it was SLIGHLTLY more than luck, colored in shape reminded me of freecad stock display (not same color but same idea)
06:57 PM tjb1: its rainin sideways
06:57 PM tjb1: damn
06:57 PM XXCoder: its ... warm here
06:59 PM tjb1: only 70 here now
06:59 PM XXCoder: my room is 81f its hotter outside
06:59 PM tjb1: heh im the opposite, 81 inside
07:00 PM tjb1: but not very humid, ac was on most of day just got tired of listening to it
07:00 PM XXCoder: it'll correct itself here evenually
08:25 PM tjb1: Anyone know what this means in sheetcam post? "if(endX > 1e17 and endY > 1e17) then return end" - specifically the 1e17?
08:30 PM hazzy-lab: tjb1: Is that after a trig functions or something like that?
08:30 PM hazzy-lab: Probably checking for infinity
08:31 PM tjb1: hazzy-lab: https://pastebin.com/1GuXbXXX line 140
08:36 PM hazzy-lab: tjb1: Yeah, they are checking it the xend and yend values are very large, and returning it so, probably to prevent the math.hypot call from failing
08:39 PM tjb1: hazzy-lab: thanks!
08:39 PM hazzy-lab: tjb1: Sure!
09:01 PM XXCoder: highly secure car https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-norfolk-44819316
09:01 PM XXCoder: guy could leave door open with key still in, and nobody would steal it
09:14 PM XXCoder: interesting! https://interestingengineering.com/elon-musks-boring-company-shares-video-of-its-bricks-being-manufactured
09:14 PM XXCoder: boring bricks. very interesting/
09:15 PM XXCoder: looks like easy way to do rammed earth structures
09:16 PM infornography: boring
09:16 PM XXCoder: yep. boring company.
09:17 PM XXCoder: i was slighting tempted by boring flamethrower but nah too much money for toy
09:19 PM XXCoder: whats amazing about those boring bricks is its mostly dirt with little concerete mixed in
09:19 PM XXCoder: so its 10 cent each bricl
09:20 PM XXCoder: I think they invented it to use up soil from boring tunnels
09:20 PM infornography: that is not boring, that's pretty sweet
09:20 PM XXCoder: yep. boring company is pretty sweet
09:20 PM XXCoder: if I had money I'd have invested
09:28 PM XXCoder: not so boring. ouch! https://youtu.be/VK0NKF6smaw
09:29 PM XXCoder: this is why we have codes
09:45 PM TurBoss: df
09:51 PM tjb1: rgb lights in the tunnel? really
09:54 PM XXCoder: guess so
09:57 PM XXCoder: there was research that shows that tunnels drivers have accients because of boredom
09:57 PM tjb1: dance party
09:57 PM XXCoder: they tested on lots of stuff and found out one of causes is lights flickering and changeless stuff. so they added "shows" after certain distances
09:58 PM XXCoder: and changed spacing of light (1/3 as bright, but 3 times as many lights)
09:58 PM XXCoder: and it worked
09:58 PM tjb1: my THC has feature cree[
09:59 PM tjb1: Maybe I can add output testing through the e-stop button
10:04 PM tjb1: I really need a new way to handle menus on the 4x20
10:07 PM XXCoder: you know you have gone too far if it includes kitchen sink
10:10 PM tjb1: it just seems so ugly to use setcursor all the time and print spaces just to clear the lcd
10:12 PM tjb1: and when I print the spaces, I have to do setcursor again to print something in that space...such a waste
10:26 PM hazzy-lab: tjb1: That is a pain
10:26 PM hazzy-lab: Is there some library that would make it easier?
10:27 PM tjb1: I havent really looked
10:28 PM tjb1: hazzy-lab: its this https://github.com/limited660/Teensy-Plasma-THC-Master/blob/master/Teensy-Plasma-THC-Master.ino
10:31 PM tjb1: I mean I can switch from right to left to left to right but thats still an extra line
10:33 PM hazzy-lab: That looks pretty good, but it sure is verbose
10:34 PM hazzy-lab: Found this, don't know if its applicable: https://playground.arduino.cc/Code/Menu
10:38 PM tjb1: i need another button
10:38 PM tjb1: this one button/5000 functions is getting annoying
11:22 PM Tom_itx: little cnc pron: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCoG_JaILNz3Q-jBZ5MiK1dA?view_as=subscriber
11:23 PM Tom_itx: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIWKo-1HP3c
11:24 PM Tom_itx: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VUDHCXu4Pwo&t=33s
11:24 PM Tom_itx: that should have been the 1st one
11:25 PM CaptHindsight: ykes, had my sound way up when that one started
11:25 PM Tom_itx: surround sound?
11:26 PM Tom_itx: i think i'll edit the program, that's pushing that little motor pretty hard
11:27 PM CaptHindsight: Tom_itx: what did you end up doing to keep the column square on the mill?
11:27 PM CaptHindsight: is it adustable with shims or did you scrape it square or??
11:27 PM Tom_L: i shimmed it
11:28 PM Tom_L: re checked it just before i started this job
11:28 PM Tom_L: and adjusted it a little bit
11:28 PM CaptHindsight: how is that Shars vise working out? just fine?
11:28 PM Tom_L: but i bumped into something prior to that so i wasn't surprised it was off a little bit
11:28 PM Tom_L: i like it
11:28 PM Tom_L: wish i had 2
11:29 PM Tom_L: still gettin used to programming for this thing though
11:30 PM Tom_L: need to back off a little more
11:30 PM Tom_L: i think the mill would take it but the spindle won't
