01:28 AM CaptHindsight: .time
01:33 AM IchGucksLive: the user is offline how has called for help
01:41 AM IchGucksLive: im off 2 Garden
01:49 AM Deejay: moin
05:16 AM Deejay: re
05:17 AM Loetmichel: moin Deejay.
05:17 AM Loetmichel: hmmm, that reminds me...
05:17 AM Loetmichel: <Loetmichel> hmm, anyone here that is able and willing to make a printable model from that picture? -> http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=17143&g2_imageViewsIndex=1 (its an insert for those full alumium bit handle screwdrivers that store the bits in the handle itself.
05:17 AM Loetmichel: <Loetmichel> ... its for this screwdriver (i have just recived 4 of them) -> http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=17146&g2_imageViewsIndex=1
05:20 AM jthornton: morning
05:20 AM XXCoder: yo
05:24 AM Deejay: hey
05:31 AM Tom_L: morning
05:36 AM Tom_L: Loetmichel, not enough information there
05:38 AM Loetmichel: cylinder, 9.5mm outer diameter 86mm long, with room for 9 4mm wide heagonal 26mm long screwdriver bits...
05:38 AM Loetmichel: with a means of getting the bits out. enough information?
05:38 AM Loetmichel: hexagonal
05:38 AM Tom_L: you want a tube with a lid?
05:39 AM XXCoder: its a insert
05:39 AM Loetmichel: nope. i have a tube with a lid
05:39 AM Tom_L: you want something to fill the tube with :D
05:39 AM Loetmichel: i want an insert that can store the bits on the outside. to put INTO the tube :)
05:39 AM Loetmichel: so that the bits are organized and dont rattle around
05:40 AM Loetmichel: also its a PITA to put the bits into thre-packs prior to inserting them into the handle... if you dont they dont fit and you cant get the cap on.
05:41 AM Tom_L: so you just want a round with a honeycomb inside
05:41 AM Tom_L: sorta
05:41 AM Loetmichel: sorta ;)
05:41 AM Loetmichel: as i tried to draw here: http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=17143&g2_imageViewsIndex=1
05:42 AM Tom_L: i'm looking at that
05:42 AM XXCoder: it seems simple enough to attept but not at 4 am soon lol
05:43 AM XXCoder: overconstrained
05:43 AM XXCoder: 9.5 mm tube diameter, radius of 4.52mm
05:43 AM XXCoder: oh nm
05:43 AM XXCoder: thought 4.52 was radius
05:44 AM Loetmichel: no, its the depth of the hexagon cutout
05:44 AM XXCoder: I know
05:45 AM Tom_L: i get what you want but not what the 'pockets' in the rectangle are
05:45 AM Loetmichel: half cut side view of it
05:46 AM Loetmichel: the three round thingies on top are the cut views at that point of the cylinder where they are sitting atop the side view
05:46 AM XXCoder: circle cutout so he can extract tools out of pockets
07:00 AM Beachbumpete1: Good Morning LinuxCNC gurus ;)
07:13 AM jthornton: morning Pete
07:19 AM diverdude is now known as Guest63643
07:19 AM Guest94134 is now known as diverdude
07:30 AM Beachbumpete1: Hey Jt
07:49 AM IchGucksLive: hi all
07:49 AM IchGucksLive: Loetmichel, still need the model
07:50 AM IchGucksLive: Loetmichel, freecad acceptable
07:50 AM Loetmichel: nope, someone in #reprap "erbarmte sich meiner"
07:50 AM IchGucksLive: its quite easy
07:51 AM IchGucksLive: a block endcap duplicate rotate twice
07:51 AM IchGucksLive: endcap<
07:51 AM IchGucksLive: done
07:51 AM IchGucksLive: i canm ake you a freecad design and then you can change on behavior
07:52 AM IchGucksLive: i woudt do some clamp lines to hold them in
07:53 AM IchGucksLive: or just separad blocks so only 3 in hand
07:54 AM IchGucksLive: ok up to you if you got it
07:54 AM IchGucksLive: diverdude, still online
07:55 AM IchGucksLive: some new member at a time where all are ofline
07:56 AM IchGucksLive: Loetmichel, mercedes is in werkstatt what a miss
07:56 AM IchGucksLive: hi veek
07:57 AM Loetmichel: IchGucksLive: did the merc die on you?
08:01 AM IchGucksLive: Loetmichel, TÜV https://paste.pics/fb9049877140b72557711acdf18e2921
08:01 AM IchGucksLive: Loetmichel, siomple part
08:02 AM gregcnc: how people are made? https://www.instagram.com/p/BWaV3yYDQTG/
08:02 AM IchGucksLive: gregcnc, makehumen gots it fast and dirty
08:03 AM IchGucksLive: Loetmichel, we need to drink alot of beer after yeasterday
08:03 AM IchGucksLive: gloops, or sent the beer to cool the fire
08:03 AM IchGucksLive: Loetmichel, 285KM from Tüv to Tüv
08:04 AM IchGucksLive: last time it has been more then 500
08:04 AM IchGucksLive: hi ferdna
08:04 AM Loetmichel: IchGucksLive: already printing it
08:04 AM IchGucksLive: nice and fast
08:04 AM IchGucksLive: you need 4
08:05 AM ferdna: IchGucksLive, whats up?
08:05 AM IchGucksLive: sunny and hot
08:05 AM _methods: https://www.open-electronics.org/ethernet-relay-board/
08:05 AM _methods: that thing looks like fun
08:05 AM IchGucksLive: _methods, AVR_NET_IO
08:06 AM IchGucksLive: _methods, https://www.pollin.de/p/bausatz-avr-net-io-810058?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIlfPXq7b22wIVxuAYCh2H3QszEAAYASAAEgIkFvD_BwE
08:08 AM diverdude: IchGucksLive: yes i am here :)
08:08 AM diverdude: IchGucksLive: how are you?
08:08 AM IchGucksLive: _methods, https://www.pollin.de/p/relaiskarte-daypower-rb-8-5v-8-kanal-810273
08:09 AM IchGucksLive: diverdude, a 16 Microstep is CRAP
08:09 AM IchGucksLive: diverdude, as you got SCALE 400
08:09 AM IchGucksLive: diverdude, do you need that high precision
08:09 AM gregcnc: he's positioning a camera
08:09 AM IchGucksLive: diverdude, if you go 0,01 it shoudt retch your need eith Microstep 4
08:10 AM diverdude: IchGucksLive: i do need quite high precision, especially on the Z axis
08:10 AM IchGucksLive: gregcnc, then 0,01 shoudt be ok
08:10 AM IchGucksLive: diverdude, you will gain torqu and speed if you reduce
08:10 AM diverdude: IchGucksLive: the depth of field where the camera has focs is +/- 50 micrometer
08:11 AM IchGucksLive: go one down so you are 200 = 0,005
08:11 AM IchGucksLive: per step
08:11 AM diverdude: IchGucksLive: right - so I should set SCALE to 100?
08:11 AM IchGucksLive: SCALE and microstep builds a EQUAL
08:12 AM diverdude: ok
08:12 AM IchGucksLive: you need to change both to get a system
08:12 AM IchGucksLive: so microstep 8
08:12 AM IchGucksLive: =1600 Steps/rev
08:12 AM IchGucksLive: gives you scale 200
08:13 AM IchGucksLive: in a 8mm Pitch
08:13 AM gregcnc: with no external loads, does it matter?
08:13 AM IchGucksLive: diverdude, as gloops explaind
08:13 AM diverdude: aha i see... so 1600 and 8
08:13 AM IchGucksLive: gregcnc, letsa ask him on the speed he wants to use
08:14 AM IchGucksLive: diverdude, what is your guess on spee and torque
08:14 AM IchGucksLive: speed
08:14 AM IchGucksLive: 5m/min
08:15 AM IchGucksLive: so Vel 80 and 400ACC
08:15 AM diverdude: allright
08:15 AM IchGucksLive: diverdude, did you understand the calculation and settins joining the numbers
08:16 AM IchGucksLive: diverdude, im german and very old so hard to explain
08:16 AM diverdude: i think so, but i might need to sit down and think it over a bit to clarify it to myself
08:16 AM IchGucksLive: do so
08:17 AM diverdude: IchGucksLive: i appreciate your effort. Thank you very much, and I believe I will understand your explanation when i have thought it through. I will get back to you if not
08:17 AM IchGucksLive: ROFL
08:17 AM IchGucksLive: im off till later
08:17 AM diverdude: Ok, thank you very much :)
08:19 AM gloops: i suppose with filming, frames per second limits govern the speed you can zoom - move the camera
08:19 AM gregcnc: basically you have a maximum pulse frequency. as you increase resolution with microsteps, you reduce maximum speed
08:20 AM gloops: and acceleration, obviously machinists want maximum accleration to speed the cutting job up
08:20 AM gloops: but for a camera, you might prioritise smoothness
08:21 AM gloops: jerky movements dont look good in video
08:21 AM gregcnc: assuming video
08:25 AM veek: could someone recommend a book on fasteners.. i found this: Deere & Company - Fasteners: A Basic Guide to the Purpose and Special Uses of Each of the Many Kinds of Fasteners, Including how it is Designated and Measured, but it's out of print (They have a lot of interesting looking books) Hydraulics Power_trains
08:26 AM gregcnc: gloops explain how acceleration come into play?
08:27 AM gloops: gregcnc jerkiness
08:27 AM gregcnc: jerk or acceleration?
08:27 AM gloops: my video camera has a variable speed zoom - if you zoom at max speed the vid doesnt look good
08:27 AM gloops: you want a soft start id say
08:28 AM gloops: fast acceleration from standing = jerk
08:28 AM gregcnc: oh in regard to video
08:34 AM gloops: veek your studies seem to be quite extensive
08:36 AM veek: bah mostly google search :( i know very little :(
08:38 AM veek: Machinery Handbook would be too advanced for me..
08:41 AM gloops: have you made a cnc machine veek?
08:41 AM veek: nope - but i definitely would like to :)
08:42 AM veek: i'm just trying to make a bench grinder for now
08:43 AM gloops: a grinder with grinding wheels? or like a belt sander
08:43 AM veek: grinding wheel :)
08:44 AM gloops: for grinding something specific or just general use?
08:44 AM gloops: -im in a facebook group for making belt and disk grinders/sanders - mainly people making knives
08:45 AM veek: general use - i can buy the motor but I still have to figure out a nice way to attach the wheel/pulley - i found a popular mechanics mag that shows how
08:45 AM veek: but i thought i'd read up on fastners and gears before i tried
08:45 AM gloops: you could use pillow blocks for bearings i guess
08:46 AM veek: ah see.. i need to google pillow blocks
08:46 AM gloops: but youre going to need a threaded shaft, maybe with a keyway
08:46 AM veek: ah yep i've seen that
08:47 AM veek: yep - i've been looking up tap and die sets
08:47 AM veek: but i don't know what standard shaft's are available (bar stock)
08:48 AM veek: also i need to figure out how to actually cut a keyway with a drill
08:48 AM gloops: might be easier to do away with the pulleys and just mount a grinding wheel straight to the motor shaft
08:49 AM gloops: keyway is pretty tricky without a mill or at least something with a cutter and a moving table
08:49 AM veek: ah yep - i think i can manage that.. 1xwashers (no idea about standard sizes) and thread the shaft and put nuts at both ends
08:50 AM veek: 2x
08:50 AM veek: wiki had a nice article on grinding wheels and their nomenclature so ..
08:51 AM rmu: hmm
08:52 AM rmu: seems some FAQ on steppers, microstepping and how it relates to linuxcnc thread and latency is needed. probably it exists somewhere, but nobody reads it. lots of misconceptions around.
08:53 AM gregcnc: not this? http://linuxcnc.org/docs/2.7/html/config/stepper-quickstart.html
08:54 AM rmu: gregcnc: i mean the thing that microstepping is increasing accuracy and decreasing torque
08:55 AM gregcnc: plus this? http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?TweakingSoftwareStepGeneration
08:55 AM rmu: gregcnc: and limiting max speed/acceleration
08:55 AM gregcnc: http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?Stepper_Motor_Speed_Limitations
09:00 AM rmu: also this here https://www.geckodrive.com/support/step-motor-basics.html

09:51 AM gloops: 1 hr ·
09:51 AM gloops: I need a strong CNC Programmer for a company in the tri-cities. Does anyone know how I can find someone like that? It is a full time job paying 32 per hour. I can provide a job description.
09:51 AM gloops: Thanks!
09:52 AM gregcnc: what's that about?
09:52 AM gloops: someone looking for a cnc programmer
09:53 AM gregcnc: in india?
09:53 AM gregcnc: antarctica?
09:53 AM gloops: tri-cities
09:53 AM gloops: wherever that is lol, i dunno
09:54 AM gloops: hes from Tennesee
09:55 AM gloops: $32 an hour, is that the going rate?
09:55 AM jdh: johnson city, bristol, some 3rd one
09:56 AM jdh: lower appalachia kind of
09:56 AM hazzy-lab: Shouldn't it be Elevennesee, with inflation and all?
09:56 AM gregcnc: probably reasonable for the area, programmer is vague
09:57 AM jdh: what is a strong cnc programmer? can lift heavy vise?
09:57 AM jdh: use CAM, or vim?
09:57 AM jdh: $32/hr should support the
09:58 AM jdh: $32/hr should support the soon to be acquired meth habit
10:02 AM unterhausen: the last programmer probably had an opiate overdose
10:06 AM gloops: its only a bit of coding
10:07 AM gloops: about $1500 a week give or take
10:29 AM CaptHindsight: https://www.monster.com/jobs/search/?q=CNC-Programmer&where=usa&intcid=skr_navigation_nhpso_searchMain&jobid=196930369
10:30 AM CaptHindsight: supposed requirements vary widely
10:32 AM CaptHindsight: the main side effect after reading a few is nausea
10:35 AM CaptHindsight: interesting, most listing for programmer require 2+ years experience, operators however only 1+
10:46 AM gregcnc: gloops only a bit of coding?
10:49 AM CaptHindsight: 0 or 1
10:56 AM gloops: seriously too hot to do anything here
10:56 AM gregcnc: even a bit of coding
10:56 AM gloops: my project has suffered one set back after another due to adverse weather
10:57 AM gloops: gregcnc well you know cnc, im sure you can do the programming for a stupid machine probably making childishly simple parts
10:58 AM gregcnc: how many hours in a work week over there to get 1500 a week at 32/hr?
11:00 AM gloops: 8 hours a day thats 250
11:00 AM gloops: 5 days 1250 + overtime
11:00 AM gloops: and expenses or whatever
11:00 AM gregcnc: expense?
11:00 AM gloops: im sure youd think of something
11:01 AM gloops: operator round the corner from me is always at work - 12 hour nights etc, time and half after 8 hours
11:02 AM gregcnc: sounds great
11:02 AM gloops: he is much fun to talk to though
11:02 AM gloops: isnt
11:03 AM gloops: i see the UK landed the aussie warship contract - $36 billion
11:08 AM gloops: biggest peacetime austrlian military contract ever - our old friends!
11:14 AM CaptHindsight: how many sailboats do you get for $36B?
11:20 AM IchGucksLive: hi all
11:25 AM rmu: CaptHindsight: LASERs are <10k€ new, so i guess at least a couple million ;)
11:25 AM fragalot: 'sup
11:26 AM CaptHindsight: anyone been hit by the rise in steel prices lately?
11:31 AM jthornton: yea
11:31 AM jthornton: everyone that buys steel pays higher prices
11:32 AM * jthornton need to check the scrap prices might be time to clean up
11:36 AM CaptHindsight: jthornton: how much is the price up near you?
11:36 AM CaptHindsight: ~30%?
11:37 AM JT-Shop: something like that
11:37 AM fragalot: wow
11:37 AM fragalot: that's going to do wonders for the economy :D
11:39 AM CaptHindsight: all of Putin's dreams are coming true
11:40 AM CaptHindsight: fragalot: oh we have all sorts of great things planned
11:40 AM IchGucksLive: rmu, let them be made by companys parts are cheep and they can be refunded if a miss
11:41 AM CaptHindsight: recession, destabilize NATO, overturn Roe vs Wade, fun times ahead
11:42 AM IchGucksLive: we will see a hard brexit on the EU
11:42 AM IchGucksLive: maybe the start will be monday
11:43 AM Loetmichel: *hrhr* just filled my BMW E36 318i convertible with 66 liters E10 at the gas station... it has a 62 liters tank... that was literally "running on fumes"... ;) I should REALLY replace all those missing indicator lamps in the dashboard., (previous owner seems to have thought" if i dont see the indicator there is nothing wrong" :-( )
11:43 AM fragalot: a hard brexit isn't really possible just yet is it?
11:43 AM fragalot: because of the deal may made to extend things
11:44 AM gregcnc: loetmichel it doesn't have the computer?
11:44 AM JT-Shop: the guy that owns the nail factory that I built the last machine for said "I wonder what the other nail company will do when the tariff hits" I told him the same thing you will do pay a lot more for your steel
11:44 AM JT-Shop: the huge factory had 500 employees before the tariff now they have 400
11:44 AM gregcnc: i just read a story about a nail factory
11:44 AM Loetmichel: gregcnc: built in 1999. nope, it has no computer (display)... it has ECU of course
11:45 AM IchGucksLive: Loetmichel, got throu TÜV but the right front washer failed ;-)
11:45 AM gregcnc: my 97 e36 has the computer
11:45 AM IchGucksLive: the crack in the bumper is not on the list
11:45 AM JT-Shop: the big one gets all it's steel from Mexico because they are owned by a Mexican company
11:45 AM gregcnc: continental nail I just read the story about them
11:45 AM JT-Shop: actually they are Mid Content Steel and Wire now
11:47 AM CaptHindsight: a couple or years ago I was working on machines for re-shored fastener makers (W. Buffet owned and returned from China) now its pointless
11:51 AM gregcnc: Tormach servo machines https://www.tormach.com/blog/introducing-tormach-m-series/
11:53 AM gregcnc: saunders made a post on instagram and comments erupted into "buy a used vmc" pretty quick
11:54 AM IchGucksLive: vmc all over
11:54 AM IchGucksLive: the factorys going to buy new ones and get the older out
11:55 AM IchGucksLive: maschine searcher is full of
11:55 AM CaptHindsight: IchGucksLive: where is this?
11:55 AM gregcnc: sure, but they still sell quite a few of these machines
11:55 AM IchGucksLive: CaptHindsight, https://www.maschinensucher.de/
11:55 AM lcvette_: not everyone has room for a vmc
11:55 AM lcvette_: or power
11:55 AM Loetmichel: IchGucksLive: nice... have to get a new suspension for the E36 'til october. TÜV is due then and the coilovers that are now in it are not registered in the paperwork and are not able to because waaay to low.
11:56 AM Loetmichel: (and find why that ABS has logged 17 errors)
11:56 AM gregcnc: like most hings people are afraid to buy used with unknown issues
11:56 AM IchGucksLive: Loetmichel, it is one of my fwllow students that does the test
11:57 AM IchGucksLive: CaptHindsight, type haas vf3
11:57 AM IchGucksLive: 252 in stock
11:57 AM Loetmichel: gregcnc: most mechanical problems can be seen or felt when inspecting the machine prior to buying it... and electronics problems are solvable, if all fails with a PC, a few mesa cards and linuxCNC :-)
11:57 AM gregcnc: single phase, 20A outlet for power is a big selling point
11:58 AM lcvette_: if anyone is familiar with https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCaNLw3Sb2id1Y1G4Ebze6gQ
11:58 AM gregcnc: not if you want to be making parts
11:58 AM lcvette_: he does a great jopb of sharing experience of buying and owning a used vmc and what comes along with it
11:59 AM CaptHindsight: gregcnc: Tormach has to since 3-phase is rare for residential or even light commercial
11:59 AM gregcnc: right
11:59 AM CaptHindsight: not too big a deal since there are VFD's
11:59 AM CaptHindsight: but they have it all turn-key
11:59 AM lcvette_: and smaller servo drives often run on single phase 220v
12:00 PM IchGucksLive: BRIDGEPORT VMC 500 XP at 1300Euros
12:00 PM JT-Shop: Loetmichel: that doesn't always work, I have one that I can't convert because it has a "high performace" spindle and I can't put a VFD on it
12:00 PM lcvette_: generally up to 750w
12:00 PM IchGucksLive: CHEVALIER 2040 VMC-L 1850Euros
12:01 PM Loetmichel: JT-Shop: really? isnt that just a matter of finding a VFD thats compatible or flexible enough to fit the spindle?
12:01 PM IchGucksLive: lcvette_, if you got a real mashine you can make real parts
12:01 PM lcvette_: my fear as a small home shop of buying used (or at least used boxed ways) was getting a worn machine and having the expense and logistics of the repair
12:01 PM IchGucksLive: lcvette_, i build the large CNC on a 2.200W base
12:01 PM IchGucksLive: all included
12:02 PM IchGucksLive: so vfd max 1500
12:02 PM lcvette_: define real parts
12:02 PM JT-Shop: no, it's a special motor
12:02 PM gregcnc: Servo?
12:02 PM IchGucksLive: lcvette_, duran ALU
12:02 PM lcvette_: the guys with a garage shop likely isn't vying for nasa contracts
12:02 PM Loetmichel: JT-Shop: special in which way?
12:03 PM IchGucksLive: ok folks im off
12:03 PM Loetmichel: i am really interested which motor cant be run by a good flexible VFD
12:03 PM fragalot: Loetmichel: wax motor.
12:04 PM Loetmichel: anything 3 phase or 2 phase should work, regardless of squirrel cage or synchronus.
12:04 PM Loetmichel: 5 phase could be tricky but there are VFDs that can do that, too
12:04 PM Loetmichel: fragalot: works without a problem on a VFD ;)
12:04 PM IchGucksLive: Gn8
12:04 PM lcvette_: night ichs
12:04 PM Loetmichel: if you mean those central heating valve "motors" (linear actuators) ;)
12:05 PM fragalot: :P
12:05 PM CaptHindsight: 3.5 split phase hamster wheel with floating bearings
12:06 PM JT-Shop: Loetmichel: I can't remember exactly something to do with the magnets, it's been a few years ago when I was trying to convert it
12:08 PM fragalot: gloops: good debate going on here for the past few days
12:09 PM gloops: what about fragalot?
12:09 PM fragalot: .be vs .uk
12:09 PM fragalot: where the tactically superior move would be to lose :P
12:09 PM gloops: any conclusions?
12:09 PM gloops: yes we seem to think the Belgian boss will play to lose
12:10 PM gloops: but then there is the psychological lift from winning and so on, difficult to say
12:11 PM gloops: also Belgium and UK have another match going on..
12:12 PM JT-Shop: Loetmichel: not finding my notes on the spindle motor
12:12 PM Loetmichel: JT-Shop: hmm. would have liked to know why that wouldnt work.
12:13 PM Loetmichel: i had fun at times converting old machines that hat 5 phase "berger lahr" steppers... drivers were a bit hard to come buy... but nothing with spindle motors so far.
12:16 PM JT-Shop-2: I was talking to robh back then and some drive people
12:17 PM gregcnc: should have worked with sensorless vector drive
12:18 PM gloops: road gritters are out in the UK
12:18 PM Loetmichel: JT-Shop: VFDS came a ling way since then though
12:18 PM gloops: not for ice obviously - because the roads are melting
12:18 PM Loetmichel: Vector mathematics and stuff is pretty good these days
12:20 PM fragalot: gloops: good traction though on the asphalt when your tires melt onto it
12:21 PM gloops: yeah, the molten tar might run into the potholes as well
12:21 PM miss0r: goodevening
12:21 PM fragalot: haha
12:21 PM fragalot: gloops: is darren still out with his level?
12:21 PM fragalot: evening miss0r
12:21 PM gloops: dont know which darren you mean fragalot
12:22 PM fragalot: gloops: https://imgur.com/gallery/WIMhS
12:22 PM miss0r: fragalot: if you haven't already seen the episode of SUPREME SKILLS!!!!! about screwing vs. brazing: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4A79tj1KR2c&t
12:23 PM gloops: oh yeah i saw that fragalot
12:23 PM fragalot: miss0r: I did :P addictive channel that.
12:23 PM gloops: the roads here are an absolute disgrace
12:23 PM fragalot: miss0r: did you see the EDM vs lathe?
12:23 PM miss0r: yeah, that is the one that got me started
12:23 PM fragalot: gloops: I was surprised just how bad they were in scotland when I went there
12:23 PM fragalot: I thought wallonia was bad
12:23 PM fragalot: miss0r: I got hooked by the spinning top one
12:24 PM miss0r: fragalot: The topics they take up are quite interresting. but I must admit to do alot of eye rolling with the pumped up japanese translated to english. OMG! THEY REDUCED THE FRICTION USING OIL! SUPREME SKILLS !
12:24 PM fragalot: lol
12:24 PM fragalot: amazing.
12:24 PM miss0r: hehe yeah
12:25 PM miss0r: I like the spinning vs. turning as well
12:25 PM miss0r: It should come as no surprise that the turning was the most acurate lol
12:25 PM fragalot: :-)
12:27 PM miss0r: I have not seen the spinning top one. Watching it now.. *sigh* :D
12:27 PM fragalot: hehe
12:27 PM fragalot: there are 2 episodes of that
12:29 PM Loetmichel: gloops: did your "walkie talkie" in london melt a few cars and streets again?
12:30 PM gloops: its the heat Loetmichel, its well over 30C
12:31 PM Loetmichel: i know. but with that heat and clear skies its time for the next round of molten cars in the street in front of said building
12:31 PM lcvette_: pcw_mesa: i see now why you directed me to the hal to check scaling.. mine shows the scaling i think linking back to the ini: setp hm2_7i92.0.stepgen.00.position-scale [AXIS_0]STEP_SCALE
12:31 PM lcvette_: starting to catch on
12:31 PM Loetmichel: who would have thought that a reflective glass fassade that is concave can wreak havoc on the neighborhood?
12:31 PM Loetmichel: :-)
12:32 PM gloops: they do tar with varying melting points, no doubt the UK used the cheapest crap available
12:32 PM lcvette_: i was trying to find info on your suiggestion yesterday of using the encoderfeedback like a linear scale
12:32 PM fragalot: Loetmichel: I don't think gloops knows what you're talking about
12:33 PM Loetmichel: fragalot: the building in londond that has the nickname "walkie talkie"... and is known for doing that to cars in the street
12:34 PM fragalot: Loetmichel: I know. :-)
12:34 PM CaptHindsight: feature not bug https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hmBVXxn0MTI
12:34 PM Loetmichel: if gloops lives in GB he will have heard/read the shitstorm that ensued a few years ago as the first cars melted
12:36 PM JT-Shop: Loetmichel: perhaps so but the VMC is not generating enough income to pay for a phone call... so long as it runs I'll just have to use floppies
12:36 PM SpeedEvil: If setting cars on fire is wrong, I don't want to be right.
12:41 PM gloops: no i didnt lol, london is a foreign place to me
12:43 PM gloops: 8 changes to the England side
12:44 PM gloops: Belgium playing #2 goalie...aye aye
12:44 PM CaptHindsight: Loetmichel: assuming one reads, watches or hears the popular news
12:45 PM Loetmichel: CaptHindsight: indeed
12:46 PM CaptHindsight: https://www.nationalenquirer.com/ 30-40 years ago we used to read these like the Onion...
12:46 PM CaptHindsight: now I can't tell the difference from Fox
12:48 PM fragalot: the onion and southpark actually struggle right now
12:48 PM fragalot: because reality is worse than what they can come up with
12:49 PM CaptHindsight: Southpark still mashes it up pretty well to get the point across
12:51 PM CaptHindsight: the Southpark creators don't have to create, just blend
01:09 PM gloops: Belgium looking dangerous!
01:10 PM fragalot_: rawr.
01:12 PM Frank_10: hi
01:12 PM Frank_10: Iong time
01:29 PM Deejay: re
02:07 PM gloops: England have convincingly allowed belgium to score haha
02:17 PM diverdude is now known as Guest4375
02:32 PM Tom_L: is that what you're goin with...
02:35 PM gloops: its actually better to lose this game
02:35 PM XXCoder: CaptHindsight: Onion works really hard to beat reality. :(
02:44 PM fragalot: gloops: did we lose yet?
02:44 PM gloops: the next stage is knockout - lose youre out, this is played out in 2 groups until only 2 remain - they meet in the final
02:45 PM gloops: fragalot no youre winning lol
02:45 PM fragalot: really?
02:45 PM fragalot: I thought they agreed not to
02:45 PM gloops: yep
02:45 PM fragalot: weird
02:45 PM gloops: so you go into the hard group now haha
02:45 PM fragalot: I guess
02:48 PM gloops: belgium will probably do well i think
02:51 PM gloops: england will play colombia - then sweden or switzerland if they win
02:51 PM gloops: Belgium will be meeting brazil at some point
02:52 PM Tom_L: takin the easy way out...
02:53 PM gloops: england was resting its best side tonight, avoid injuries etc
02:53 PM fragalot: I think we now know why those players are on the B-team
02:53 PM fragalot: they can't even lose right
02:53 PM fragalot: :P
02:53 PM fragalot: not only tonight
02:53 PM fragalot: winner has to do a lot of travelling & play again earlier
02:55 PM fragalot: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XIn1-8yXJiw <= that kinda reminds me of that underwater pipeline being cut into sucking up that crab
02:56 PM gloops: they had one of those when they did the gas pipes on the street
02:56 PM fragalot: must be quite a lot of suction power
02:57 PM fragalot: I wonder if it still works on the solid clay we've got here
02:57 PM gloops: i the lorry had a breaker on it as well
02:57 PM gloops: i think
02:58 PM Tom_L: wouldn't wanna get your arm caught in that
03:27 PM JT-Shop: that would not touch the dirt here lol
03:28 PM XXCoder: fragalot: surpising many living things in sea uses pressure and suction as weapon
03:34 PM CaptHindsight: it only sucks at 1 atmosphere, I wonder if you could make one for -2 or -3 ATM
03:38 PM CaptHindsight: this just needs to add resin and use CF vs wool https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1aEzZ6TdpcQ
03:41 PM fragalot: hehe
03:41 PM fragalot: I remember running one of those machines in school
03:41 PM fragalot: mesmerising to do as an 11yo
03:44 PM XXCoder: 2 color run is slow lol
03:44 PM XXCoder: still faster than hand I guess
03:48 PM XXCoder: nice ocpti-kitty
03:52 PM CaptHindsight: vs crochet machine in German https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eGz6BbQREuY
03:54 PM CaptHindsight: crocheted CF auto panels
03:55 PM gregcnc: https://www.instagram.com/xcarbon55/
04:11 PM JT-Shop: all right the varmint camera is fixed... plastic hinge pins really!
04:22 PM Deejay: gn8
04:22 PM tjb1: So with NPN proximity sensors all sharing an input, can I place a diode on each line to prevent the trigger from one from lighting all the others?
04:23 PM tjb1: gregcnc: that yours?
04:46 PM gregcnc: tjb1 no just something I thought capthindsight might find interesting
04:59 PM gloops: http://www.itv.com/news/2018-06-28/shadow-of-a-man-created-to-guard-women-who-live-alone/
05:00 PM gloops: 'man on the curtain' security device
05:01 PM gloops: i feel more redundant and useless every day
07:55 PM skunkworks: so - almost burned up a 2 hp motor 3 phase motor
07:56 PM CaptHindsight: dropped a leg?
07:57 PM skunkworks: we have been having problems with the collet on the K&T releasing. We finally tried to work though the problem. The valve seemed like it was sticky so we rebuilt it and it didn't help. I ran some tool paths I wanted to get done and I started smelling hot varnish
07:57 PM skunkworks: the constant pressure pump that runs runs the collet clamp/unclamp (amoung other things) was taking a couple amps over
07:58 PM skunkworks: finally said it had to be the cylinder. took it apart. the seals were falling apart..
07:58 PM skunkworks: so the constant pressure pump was trying to make up for the huge leak by
07:59 PM skunkworks: (5 inch in diameter cylinder)
07:59 PM skunkworks: come to find out we had an extra - looks like they rebuilt it (this would be in the 80's)
08:02 PM skunkworks: needs some of the end cap orings replaced - but the cup piston seals look good
08:08 PM skunkworks: I guess after 50 years - some seals should be replaced...
08:10 PM skunkworks: we had been fighting that issue for way too long. intially we just thought the collet was sticking
08:12 PM tjb1: So on the G540 the inputs float high?
08:14 PM tjb1: Im using a Teensy to control inputs on the G540 and turns out I needed to add a transistor which I have on the negative line, should I put a pullup resistor on the 12v supply to pull the input high?
08:15 PM Tom_L: not if they're 5v inputs
08:17 PM tjb1: on the g540?
08:17 PM Tom_L: whatever inputs you're pulling high
08:17 PM tjb1: INPUTS: The G540 has four general purpose inputs called INPUT 1, INPUT 2, INPUT 3 and INPUT 4 on the MAIN
08:17 PM tjb1: TERMINAL BLOCK. They are at POSITION 1, POSITION 2, POSITION 3 and POSITION 4 respectively on the terminal
08:17 PM tjb1: block. These inputs may be used as limit switches or for any other purpose. SPST switches can be used with these
08:17 PM tjb1: inputs. One end of the switch goes to the input, the other end of the switch goes to ground (POSITION 12).
08:17 PM tjb1: They read 11.xx volts with nothing connected
08:18 PM tjb1: thats with 48v going to the g540
08:18 PM Tom_L: i'm not familiar with it
08:19 PM Tom_L: https://www.geckodrive.com/amfile/file/download/file_id/22/product_id/14/
08:19 PM tjb1: I think I nust need to pull it low...dont know why the teensy cant do it though
08:20 PM Tom_L: P8 sample wiring diagram
08:21 PM tjb1: yeah they need grounded
08:36 PM tjb1: I was able to get UCCNC to run on a Winbook tablet
09:14 PM tjb1: https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/206756204427476995/462078120418213889/image.jpg THC signals working!
09:32 PM tjb1: Anyone using SheetCAM in here?
10:07 PM Roguish: you could check in with cmorely or cradek. I think they wrote gremlin. just to get their ideas.
10:09 PM hazzy-lab: Roguish: Yes, cmorely did most/all of the work to get gremlin working with Qt
