12:48 AM fragalot: hi
12:53 AM holzjunkie: good morning
12:56 AM holzjunkie: if i got an interfacerelay with an 650ma coil can i use it direct on the output on the 7i77 which is discribted with 350ma ?
01:06 AM CaptHindsight: have to check the 7i77 data sheet but 650ma is more than 350ma, so based on that NOPE
01:06 AM CaptHindsight: holzjunkie: ^^
01:07 AM holzjunkie: gnampf so I have to ad an optokopler ?!
01:07 AM CaptHindsight: Field Power Output is 350ma Max
01:09 AM CaptHindsight: holzjunkie: an opto may get you a different voltage or isolation but it most likely won't drive 650ma
01:10 AM holzjunkie: so i have to search for relay´s with coil´s less then 350ma
01:11 AM CaptHindsight: holzjunkie: https://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Toshiba/TLP3555TP1F?qs=5aG0NVq1C4xW7fBlE%252bQEkA%3d%3d
01:11 AM CaptHindsight: 2A drive ^^
01:12 AM holzjunkie: thanks for info
01:12 AM CaptHindsight: or a relay a bit below 350ma
01:13 AM CaptHindsight: you really don't want to drive something near the max current
01:13 AM CaptHindsight: unless the max rating is really conservative
01:13 AM IchGucksLive: good morning from germany
01:14 AM IchGucksLive: holzjunkie, still on
01:14 AM CaptHindsight: holzjunkie: an SSR is another option
01:15 AM IchGucksLive: FTR relais suport 8A at 20ma
01:15 AM holzjunkie: yes that´s an idea
01:15 AM IchGucksLive: i did mount 9 of them yesterday in 3 mashines
01:15 AM holzjunkie: IchGucksLive: morgen
01:15 AM IchGucksLive: holzjunkie, how many volt
01:16 AM IchGucksLive: for copil ;-)
01:16 AM IchGucksLive: coil

01:24 AM IchGucksLive: holzjunkie, with vfd on the side
01:24 AM IchGucksLive: morning gloops
01:25 AM CaptHindsight: don't forget the flyback diode if it has an actual coil
01:25 AM holzjunkie: nice work but where can i get some in Hamburg today!? Conrad ???

03:44 AM myil: i plan to use Linux cnc
03:45 AM myil: hello friends
04:34 AM BitEvil is now known as SpeedEvil
06:02 AM IchGucksLive: hi
06:03 AM IchGucksLive: myil ?
06:03 AM IchGucksLive: cutting stupid masks here for painting trees
06:14 AM IchGucksLive: off tilll later
06:19 AM jthornton: morning
06:47 AM XXCoder: hey jt
06:51 AM jthornton: what's up?
06:52 AM XXCoder: not much, playing game a bit just got off thoufgh lol
06:53 AM XXCoder: minecraft, with feed the beast mod pack Revelations lol
06:53 AM XXCoder: its like new game :P
06:53 AM jthornton: I have not played a computer game since Doom
06:55 AM XXCoder: lol ok
06:55 AM XXCoder: most games is unplayable to me
06:55 AM XXCoder: games make me dizzy and sick :( sucks
06:55 AM jthornton: that does suck
06:57 AM XXCoder: yeah
06:57 AM XXCoder: minecraft does it a little but not bad enough
06:58 AM XXCoder: slowly building a tech base lol
07:27 AM SpeedEvil: CNC totally counts as a computer game.
07:30 AM * Loetmichel just sat down in front of the running 6040 CNC router... "Why is my forehead feeling so warm suddenly? Ah, thermal radiation comming off the spidle motor..." *taking lots of compressed air to the Spindles water cooling hoses*... i HATE those small cooling fins inside the water jacket of it in combination with biofilm growth :-(
08:01 AM RyanS: is it no longer economical for manufacturers to sharpen tools in house? i'm not sure I can see the appeal of a cutting tool grinder
08:14 AM Loetmichel: RyanS: depends on the tool
08:15 AM Loetmichel: some manufacuters need special tools for the lathe that are ground to form. those still need tool grinders. Less likely for milling machines though
08:34 AM gloops: most use inserts wherever possible now, a one off shop probably economical to have a grinder and someone who can use it - for whipping up hss shaped tools etc
09:03 AM gregcnc: SpeedEvil I have never thought of it that way....
09:03 AM flyback: Loetmichel,
09:04 AM flyback: Loetmichel, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benzalkonium_chloride
09:04 AM flyback: they use this shit in jet fuel, vaporizers, some luberication fluids etc
09:06 AM Loetmichel: gloops: thats what i meant
09:06 AM Loetmichel: flyback: i will use car coolant some date in the future... but that only makes sense when i find the time to make the spindle cooling a closes system with a radiator and a reservior, not an open bucket like now
09:10 AM flyback: well this stuff is non corrosive and cheap and can last weeks/months
09:10 AM flyback: might be worth a look
09:10 AM flyback: we have bad mold problems at the house, non toxic just annoying
09:10 AM flyback: it won't touch this shit
09:10 AM flyback: it used to clog drain hoses on the furnace etc in days
09:11 AM flyback: like I said they use it in jet and avation fuels
09:11 AM flyback: keeps the lines from fouling
09:12 AM Loetmichel: i think my main problem is that the system is open
09:12 AM Loetmichel: and can be contaminated
09:13 AM flyback: even closed sometimes you get shit
09:13 AM flyback: put it this way
09:14 AM flyback: I washed out one of those giant ziplocks with the stuff but was interrupted and it sat on the floor full of water for 6months
09:14 AM rmu: Loetmichel: your spindle is not running hot enough ;-)
09:14 AM flyback: didn't even smell
09:15 AM flyback: detergents and fabric softner do neutralize it so I dunno if there would be a clash with some detergents in oils
09:15 AM gloops: easy slot together forms, easy to use sketchup + slicer5 https://ibb.co/d6fp2y
09:15 AM gloops: will have a go at cutting some of these tommorrow
09:15 AM Loetmichel: rmu: i dont think its good when you hear the coolant simmer in the spindle water jacket ;)
09:19 AM syyl: [15:37:40] <flyback> even closed sometimes you get shit
09:19 AM syyl: definetly gets green ;)
09:19 AM syyl: we see that a lot with watercooled spindles in machining centers
09:20 AM syyl: some get nice and green and slimy, some get rust-brown, ...
09:20 AM Loetmichel: yes, it does. but at least the IPA i use as a "bio killer" in the coolant stays in then
09:22 AM * hazzy-lab thought IPA was a type of beer
09:23 AM syyl: isopropyl alcohol
09:23 AM syyl: not the hipsterbeer
09:23 AM miss0r|office: I've just had a very conflicting moment where I felt both manly and geeky at the same time; me and some friends buy a calf(young cow) each year, and have a butcher carve it out. I came home with my 73kgs of red meat. As I do not have time right now to devide it into smaller bags and put it in the freezer, I had to put it into the spare fridge in the basement...
09:24 AM miss0r|office: As I have put three large bags of meat into the fridge and noticed, it would not stay shut on its own, I felt quite manly.. But the only thing within reach(if I let go of the fridge door, I would experience a meat avalanche) was a 10m rs-232 serial cable... hence the geeky part
09:25 AM miss0r|office: So now I have a fridge, stuffed with meat, tied shot with a serial cable.. hehe
09:25 AM syyl: perfect
09:27 AM syyl: the weird serial killer that keeps corpses in his fridge
09:27 AM miss0r|office: hehe. I was the one going to pick up the meat (As I do every year). I had almost 300kgs of meat in the back of the car.. That would make a fun police routine stop, because my car was low in the end :D
09:27 AM miss0r|office: Never been stopped though. But the shitty part is, even with plastic covers'n everything, my car will smell like a butchers shop for a week
09:27 AM syyl: better than having it in an open trailer ;)
09:27 AM gregcnc: how do you check for indicator droop where you use it in a lathe spindle?
09:27 AM miss0r|office: hahaha
09:27 AM miss0r|office: syyl: that I will need to test out sometime hahaha
09:27 AM syyl: ;)
09:28 AM miss0r|office: Anyway, I need to go. See you around
09:28 AM syyl: how much it drops or if it drops?
09:28 AM gregcnc: right due to gravity
09:28 AM syyl: and you want to know how much?
09:29 AM gregcnc: correct. I've seen people quote numbers, but how do you measure that?
09:30 AM gregcnc: what I need to do is make one like robrenz made
09:30 AM syyl: clamp something round in the toolpost
09:30 AM gregcnc: holder that is
09:30 AM syyl: and try to center it with the indicator in the spindle
09:30 AM syyl: start with side to side, and zero the indicator during that process
09:31 AM syyl: then try to center it in height
09:31 AM syyl: haha no, wont work
09:31 AM gregcnc: ah yes, I did figure this out once, then invert the indicaotr
09:31 AM gregcnc: and repeat
09:32 AM syyl: if i may selfpromote
09:32 AM syyl: https://youtu.be/uVdktokAyjE?t=17m32s
09:32 AM syyl: that works
09:32 AM gregcnc: Ok
09:33 AM syyl: oh boy
09:33 AM syyl: thats almost three years ago
09:33 AM syyl: i get old
09:33 AM syyl: :*(
09:33 AM gregcnc: time flies
09:34 AM gregcnc: I'll have to check the little noga arm I use.
09:35 AM gregcnc: I like this though, and my lathe is small, https://www.instagram.com/p/BQLZOXujAvt/
09:36 AM syyl: yes
09:36 AM syyl: robins design is killer :D
11:03 AM IchGucksLive: hi all
11:04 AM IchGucksLive: new member here today noone answerd :O
11:05 AM IchGucksLive: today we got a GOV meeting at the top of the hour
11:08 AM gloops: didnt see anyone ask a question
11:11 AM IchGucksLive: he asked i want to use linuxcnc
11:13 AM IchGucksLive: gloops, the sideline also saying names i never saw hjere asking so NP
11:14 AM gloops: ahh ok, ill keep an eye out for him, i was out this morning
11:14 AM IchGucksLive: as we all have been
11:14 AM IchGucksLive: CAN someone check how ling he has been on the channel
11:15 AM IchGucksLive: long
11:18 AM IchGucksLive: gloops, i managed to get 4500mm/min at 220ACC at the test mashine with the HGH20
11:18 AM IchGucksLive: Safe for 20min
11:18 AM IchGucksLive: no steplos on lall 3 axis permanant move
11:19 AM IchGucksLive: ok within a 300mm sqare centerd
11:20 AM IchGucksLive: im off for today need to join town Meeting
11:20 AM IchGucksLive: Gn8
11:31 AM rmu: this "new member" was in the channel for like 5 minutes
01:16 PM IchGucksLive: hi all back from town hall
01:16 PM Tom_L: did they kick you out?
01:16 PM IchGucksLive: no
01:17 PM IchGucksLive: getting around 5k for new projekt
01:17 PM Tom_L: what project?
01:18 PM IchGucksLive: not to be told here
01:18 PM IchGucksLive: tom chickenfarm related LOL
01:21 PM fragalot: Hi
01:22 PM gloops: cnc chicken plucker?
01:24 PM IchGucksLive: gloops, there is far more then cnc out in mother nature
01:24 PM gloops: well, chicken farms have automating feeding these days, and lighting
01:25 PM IchGucksLive: hi evilren netherlands still floting after all this doenpooring
01:25 PM IchGucksLive: gloops, logo sps related
01:26 PM gloops: i see Ichs
01:26 PM IchGucksLive: arduino did grep a large amount of this area of controls
01:27 PM IchGucksLive: as it noow does on arduiocnc claim the BIG M
01:28 PM IchGucksLive: 99% of the mashines fit to the adapter
01:28 PM IchGucksLive: the last percent is mesa
01:29 PM gloops: all the younfer ones are already into arduino, natural they will use it for cnc
01:29 PM gloops: younger
01:29 PM IchGucksLive: yes agree we are diing out on aging
01:30 PM IchGucksLive: i think 2.8 shoudt regionise the adapter in some way
01:31 PM IchGucksLive: but it is already to late
01:32 PM IchGucksLive: gloops, do you own a android smartphone
01:33 PM gloops: yeah, dont use it much though
01:33 PM IchGucksLive: are you willing to test my new hiking app as a first user
01:34 PM gloops: probably better asking someone else Ichs, i barely know how to send a text on that phone
01:34 PM IchGucksLive: NP
01:36 PM IchGucksLive: im off Gn8 for tonight as it has been a a realy good day no bitbrek ((Dragnive in use))
01:37 PM IchGucksLive: Flyers levlets are accepted
01:37 PM IchGucksLive: App tested ion Germany
01:37 PM IchGucksLive: Bye the way All day rain
02:20 PM andypugh: Does anyone know of a tool to convert hexadecimal floating point to decimal?
02:21 PM andypugh: Google is completely saturated with people asking a different question wrongly.
02:21 PM andypugh: (ie, what they want is the byte sequence of a floating point number, whereas I want to convert a base-16 floating point number such as -0x1.4DF0376051EB8P-4
02:24 PM fragalot: andypugh: aside from casting, making it the compilers' problem?µ
02:24 PM fragalot: or is it in string format atm
02:24 PM andypugh: It is dmesg output
02:24 PM andypugh: (%f in a linuxcnc kernel module prints in this format)
02:25 PM andypugh: This is better than a normal kernel module, where there is no %f specifier at all
02:25 PM fragalot: simple C scriopt using sscanf and a cast to float?
02:26 PM fragalot: script*
02:26 PM andypugh: Doesn’t sound all that simple
02:26 PM andypugh: and I only need to do it a few dozen times
02:28 PM fragalot: https://www.exploringbinary.com/double-rounding-errors-in-floating-point-conversions/
02:28 PM fragalot: this talks about the format you've got
02:30 PM fragalot: seems python should be able to convert it
02:30 PM andypugh: Yes, I just got to there :-)
02:32 PM andypugh: Great, thanks
02:32 PM andypugh: >>> float.fromhex("-0x1.4DF0376051EB8P-4")
02:32 PM andypugh: -0.08152791625354439
02:53 PM rmu: P-4 means shift 4 bits?
03:06 PM andypugh: Yes, rather unexpectedly
03:08 PM andypugh: (It isn’t x 16 to the power of)

03:37 PM CaptHindsight: hazardous location ^^
03:38 PM CaptHindsight: they must use them for spray booths
03:38 PM fragalot_: lmao @ the pric
03:38 PM fragalot_: e
03:39 PM fragalot_: $260... or because I like you, $20.
03:39 PM CaptHindsight: https://www.plchardware.com/Products/RA-802R-AFW2.aspx
03:40 PM XXCoder: so much cheaper. wonder why. maybe its clearance of eol product
03:40 PM CaptHindsight: auto paint supplier got stuck with them
03:45 PM CaptHindsight: explosion proof anything is always 10x the price
03:45 PM fragalot_: wrong
03:45 PM CaptHindsight: uh huh
03:45 PM fragalot_: it's x3 -- that rule is even the logo turned upside down
03:46 PM CaptHindsight: doody head
03:46 PM syyl: i want all my stuff non expoding
03:46 PM CaptHindsight: nope 3.5-10x
03:46 PM syyl: with exception for the explosives
03:46 PM fragalot_: syyl: what about the combustibles?
03:46 PM syyl: those are ok too
03:46 PM syyl: M(
03:46 PM CaptHindsight: this isn't a good argument, what else yah got today?
03:47 PM fragalot_: my second big boy 55° milling cutter arrived
03:47 PM syyl: i have nothing usefull to contribute today
03:47 PM fragalot_: which means I'm all set to finally get that RF45 milled true on saturday
03:48 PM CaptHindsight: oh well, let me know when you have something better to argue about
03:48 PM fragalot_: and if for whatever reason that also ends up not happening, i'm giving up & buying a properly rebuilt rf45 from a local vendor
03:48 PM fragalot_: >.>
03:48 PM CaptHindsight: have a nice day
03:48 PM syyl: i should do premium-rf45s
03:48 PM syyl: all rescraped
03:48 PM syyl: ;)
03:48 PM fragalot_: syyl: that's what that local shop does
03:48 PM fragalot_: 5k + VAT gets you one
03:49 PM fragalot_: scrape in the whole machine & grind & lap the spindle for you
03:49 PM syyl: thats a bargain
03:49 PM syyl: but then your still stuck with an rf45 ;)
03:49 PM fragalot_: :P
03:50 PM fragalot_: an rf45 is perfect for me though
03:50 PM gloops: what, buying a mill..to mill the parts for a..mill? lol
03:50 PM fragalot_: size wise
03:50 PM syyl: ah, dont get me wrong
03:50 PM syyl: i love that size/formfactor of a mill
03:50 PM syyl: far from beeing a toolroom mill, but you can do a lot with them
03:50 PM fragalot_: agreed
03:51 PM fragalot_: my main limitation is an 80cm wide alley-way
03:51 PM syyl: <- 80cm wide door into the basement ;)
03:51 PM fragalot_: if it won't fit through there, be it in parts,.. it won't make it in. :P
03:52 PM fragalot_: plus a 100 meter long loose gravel road
03:52 PM fragalot_: with loose gravel, I mean, bottom out your car trying to drive it through loose
03:52 PM fragalot_: and by road, I mean a small car fits with the mirrors tucked in :P
03:52 PM syyl: sounds great ;)
03:52 PM gloops: theres always a way round these things you know fragalot
03:53 PM gloops: anyone with a keen military eye for engineering would get a machine up there
03:53 PM fragalot_: gloops: there is. get an RF45 that you can carry in in pieces :D
03:54 PM fragalot_: syyl: what power motor have you got on yours ?
03:54 PM gloops: well, you seem settled on a plan anyway now
03:54 PM fragalot_: yup
03:55 PM syyl_: 1,1/1,5kW
03:55 PM syyl_: two speed motor
03:55 PM fragalot_: mine's a 2.5kW 2-speed
03:55 PM fragalot_: i've always wondered why
03:55 PM syyl_: wow
03:56 PM syyl_: never felt that the 1,1 are lacking ;)
03:56 PM fragalot_: I've always wondered what would give out first, lol
03:56 PM syyl_: especially in low gear it has quite a lot of torque..
03:57 PM fragalot_: yeah...
03:58 PM fragalot_: well, if you ever need more power
03:58 PM fragalot_: i'm willing to trade
03:58 PM syyl_: ;)
03:59 PM syyl_: i have a 40mm rotabroach and thats no match for the motor
03:59 PM fragalot_: :D
03:59 PM syyl_: ;)
03:59 PM fragalot_: I've tried a 30mm drill bit before
03:59 PM fragalot_: other than being chattery as hell it didn't care
04:00 PM fragalot_: I don't think a rotabroach would work very well as it is now.. not without a pilot in it anyway
04:00 PM fragalot_: even plunging with a 6mm endmill makes me cringe
04:01 PM syyl_: :\
04:02 PM fragalot_: I'll get it fixed up. eventually.
04:02 PM syyl_: :)
04:02 PM CaptHindsight: is this the type of RF-45 referred to above? http://www.graetech.com/index.pub_files/image6051.jpg
04:02 PM syyl_: yes
04:02 PM fragalot_: Yes
04:03 PM CaptHindsight: <$3k? http://www.emachinetool.com/new-machines/mills/drill-mill-mill-drill/rong-fu-rf-45-mill-drill
04:03 PM fragalot_: yup
04:04 PM fragalot_: or 5.4k€ for a rebuilt one: https://crispyn.be/boorfreesmachine-mcp-45.html
04:04 PM fragalot_: even comes with a coolant system pre-installed
04:04 PM CaptHindsight: so new $3k, rebuilt $5k
04:05 PM fragalot_: yup
04:05 PM fragalot_: I paid 650 for mine, 2nd hand
04:05 PM CaptHindsight: the rebuilt is actually square?
04:05 PM fragalot_: even the new is actually square, in syyl_'s case
04:06 PM fragalot_: mine's just got a severe case of the monday's
04:06 PM CaptHindsight: what do you get for the extra $2k?
04:07 PM CaptHindsight: color choice?
04:07 PM fragalot_: greater accuracy parts, actual electrical panel rather than a chintsy switch
04:08 PM fragalot_: so fitted dovetails & a lapped spindle
04:09 PM fragalot_: and flood coolant
04:09 PM CaptHindsight: people there want that?
04:10 PM fragalot_: if you're in the market for a "heavy duty" tabletop mill, what's not to like?
04:11 PM CaptHindsight: yes/no not good enough for you?
04:11 PM fragalot_: depends
04:15 PM CaptHindsight: are the CNCed versions also popular there?
04:22 PM CaptHindsight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SXHHHw69-NQ ENCO RF45 CNC Conversion
04:25 PM gloops: http://www.instructables.com/id/Build-a-star-tracker-for-your-DSLR-and-make-your-o/
04:26 PM gloops: manual - too many movements on the tripod, surely that can be motorised pretty easy
04:26 PM gloops: 360 degrees in 24 hours
04:43 PM JimPanski: hello..can anyone help with sin/con encoder with the ic-haus chip ic-nv?
04:44 PM micges: JimPanski: what's the problem?
04:53 PM JT-Shop: hi micges
04:53 PM micges: hi JT-Shop
04:59 PM CaptHindsight: JimPanski: https://www.ichaus.de/product/iC-NV ?
04:59 PM JimPanski: yes
05:00 PM CaptHindsight: what is the problem?
05:00 PM CaptHindsight: https://www.ichaus.de/upload/pdf/Nv_c1es.pdf
05:00 PM JimPanski: have build the circuit with an ssop adapter and using it with 7i76e and ern1381 encoder on my spindle
05:01 PM Tom_L: it looks like that chip ouputs quadrature with index already
05:01 PM JimPanski: the problem is, that the signals are totally noisy
05:01 PM Tom_L: are those outputs open collector?
05:01 PM Tom_L: if so you should add pullups to them
05:02 PM JimPanski: you mean the outputs of the ic haus chip?
05:02 PM Tom_L: yes, A B Z
05:03 PM JimPanski: ok at the moment i attached it directly...
05:05 PM CaptHindsight: wow the only mention of the outputs in the data sheet I see: TTL- /CMOS-compatible outputs
05:05 PM Tom_L: yeah i can't find anything yet either
05:05 PM Tom_L: it would be worth a try to add something like a 10k pullup to test it
05:06 PM Deejay: gn8
05:06 PM JimPanski: yes even the woker at ic haus i had on the phone said that the documentation is not very clearly
05:06 PM Tom_L: got a scope?
05:07 PM Tom_L: that would tell you
05:07 PM CaptHindsight: hmm, the demo board does not use pullups on the outputs
05:08 PM Tom_L: it talks about a resistor on RCLK too
05:08 PM Tom_L: i'm not sure what that does
05:08 PM Tom_L: something about the maximum ouput frequency
05:09 PM JimPanski: rclk is for the setting of the max input frequency
05:09 PM CaptHindsight: page 8 of 19
05:09 PM JimPanski: my scope is a c1 91...but today it wont tell me anything
05:10 PM Tom_L: i was looking at that
05:10 PM Tom_L: i think i'd try the pullups on those outputs and see what happens
05:12 PM CaptHindsight: not a really clear data sheet
05:12 PM CaptHindsight: maybe ex TI people wrote it
05:13 PM CaptHindsight: nope just ESL
05:36 PM hazzy-lab: I asked a few days ago about Rockhopper and did not get a response, has anybody used it?
05:36 PM hazzy-lab: Its pretty neat: https://youtu.be/QP43u5IooDA
05:37 PM hazzy-lab: The HAL network graph is the best feature!
05:43 PM phipli: On the plus side, this new bluetooth module has stopped speaking chinese at me...
05:43 PM phipli: on the downside, it now speaks chenglish
05:45 PM _methods: victory
05:46 PM hazzy-lab: lol
05:48 PM hazzy-lab: At least you could translate the chinese, you might be out of luck with the chinglish xD
06:08 PM Tom_L: hazzy-dev what is that exactly for?
06:09 PM Tom_L: remote operations?
06:25 PM phipli: I'm going to fit it into my 80s amp in the sitting room
06:25 PM phipli: to add bluetooth streaming / mp3s from usb
06:25 PM phipli: Tom_L,
06:26 PM phipli: hazzy-lab, I didn't realise it was English until the third time I heard it
06:27 PM phipli: https://www.banggood.com/Wireless-Bluetooth-Audio-Receiver-Digital-Amplifier-Board-With-Remote-Control-And-Microphone-p-1092594.html
06:28 PM phipli: anyhow. night folks
06:29 PM hazzy-lab: Tom_L: It is mostly just the webserver, nobody every built a full client for it. The simple client it does have has some really nice tools for editing the INI and HAL, though
06:29 PM hazzy-lab: The server part of it is quite complete, it can handle INI, HAL and status edits/updates and even generates the .x3d code for use in a backplot window.
06:29 PM hazzy-lab: Here is a backplot view I hacked into it to see if it worked: https://i.imgur.com/bsDrq3X.png
06:30 PM Tom_L: huh
06:31 PM hazzy-lab: I updated it to work with joint/axis, it had not been updated since about 2013
08:05 PM flyback: https://youtu.be/IlYyJd43qMs?t=67
08:05 PM flyback: <Loetmichel> yes, it does. but at least the IPA i use as a "bio killer" in the coolant stays in then
08:05 PM flyback: careful with alochol
08:06 PM flyback: that some microbe doesn't start turning it into corrosive vinegar
08:19 PM skunkworks: hazzy-lab: so - totally ip based front end?
08:19 PM skunkworks: *browser?
08:19 PM hazzy-lab: Yep! Its pretty neat
08:20 PM hazzy-lab: Yesterday I was running my machine remotely for the heck of it
08:20 PM CaptHindsight: hazzy-dev: and you didn't have to replace NML?
08:21 PM hazzy-lab: No, NML is internal, this just links to the python interface and uses JSON encoded data over Websocket protocol
08:22 PM CaptHindsight: was poking fun at earlier ideas on this
08:22 PM hazzy-lab: Thinking about rewriting it to use protobufs instead of JSON
08:23 PM CaptHindsight: the complaint years ago was that NML needed to be replaced
08:23 PM CaptHindsight: since it's old and not hip
08:23 PM hazzy-lab: It does! But it works, so ...
08:23 PM hazzy-lab: I say leave it :)
08:24 PM hazzy-lab: I don't think MachineKit even replaced NML, but I might be wrong
08:24 PM CaptHindsight: only dorks use NML
08:25 PM CaptHindsight: whatyear is this?
08:30 PM hazzy-lab: The reason the web socket server is attractive is it would allow GUIs to be written in Py3, since there would be a neutral messaging protocol between the UI and LCNC, without having to use NML
08:31 PM CaptHindsight: but Python is not a real language :)
08:33 PM hazzy-lab: Haha, real enough for gov work :D
08:34 PM CaptHindsight: well thats because they started hiring new lazy kids
08:34 PM hazzy-lab: like me
08:35 PM CaptHindsight: are you doing guberment work?
08:36 PM CaptHindsight: is machinekit still an active project?
08:37 PM hazzy-lab: Not at the moment, thankfully, but I am thinking about going back to Los Alamos soon ..
08:37 PM hazzy-lab: I MK ism there have been some commits recently
08:37 PM hazzy-lab: Looks like missed some keys :D
08:38 PM hazzy-lab: This keyboard sucks
08:39 PM ziper: does this link work http://bidera.hibid.com/lot/41270354/isel--techno-dsg/?cpage=2&ipp=100&ref=catalog
08:39 PM CaptHindsight: over here it's me, the keyboard is fine
08:39 PM ziper: what do you think
08:39 PM Rab: ziper, works for me.
08:40 PM CaptHindsight: ziper: the mechanics are fine, not sure about their controls
08:41 PM CaptHindsight: hazzy-lab: pm
08:41 PM Rab: ziper, looks like it's this: http://www.techno-isel.com/education1/H870/PDF/H870P087.pdf
08:41 PM ziper: smaller than it looks
08:42 PM CaptHindsight: yeah it's a tiny router
08:42 PM Rab: It looks pretty small.
08:44 PM Rab: 8x10 isn't completely useless though. Close to a Taig micro-mill in terms of work envelope.
08:45 PM CaptHindsight: good for carving letters
08:46 PM ziper: say i wanted to cut something out of foam pretty long. Could I just put holes down the centerline and use that to index it, going down the length of foam?
08:46 PM Rab: Ballscrew drive. Looks tough as hell compared to your average chinese 6040 or whatever.
08:47 PM CaptHindsight: id it wasn't stored under water on dropped then it will just work without needing to aligned and rebuilt
08:47 PM Rab: You mean e.g. move the foam three times down the X axis and run three jobs for each segment?
08:47 PM CaptHindsight: id/if
08:48 PM Rab: (one for each segment)
08:48 PM Rab: Sounds like a miserable but workable lifestyle.
08:48 PM CaptHindsight: they use good parts and they properly assemble them
08:49 PM Rab: I think it would be worth <=$500 if you can live with that work envelope.
08:51 PM ziper1: back
08:51 PM Rab: Well, it needs a spindle. But it appears to have an awesome t-slot sled for mounting whatever you want.
08:56 PM CaptHindsight: it's probably $3k new
08:59 PM CaptHindsight: http://www.techno-isel.com/education1/Ed_StepperDaVinci.htm
08:59 PM CaptHindsight: $9k for the educational version 1012
09:03 PM ziper1: i'd buy this too but it would just collect dust http://bidera.hibid.com/lot/41270355/torit-dust-collector/?cpage=2&ipp=100&ref=catalog
09:12 PM unterhausen: I have a dust collector. It's okay if they collect dust, but not on the outside
09:19 PM Contract_Pilot: Getting there on a budget on the work bench many shades of red hahaha... http://www.stevenrhine.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/06/20180612_181911-1024x768.jpg
