01:21 AM IchGucksLive: hi all
01:21 AM IchGucksLive: XXCoder, how is the weather gone bee
01:46 AM IchGucksLive: off 2 garden
01:59 AM Deejay: moin
04:37 AM gloops: right bit of spare time, more worker on planer and some more cut testing on cnc
04:37 AM gloops: work
04:42 AM gloops: also, from learning that the router cuts 5mm in pine effortlessly, i know i can rough profiles out on bandsaw, and just cut the decorative finishing pass with the router, can get to within 5mm with bandsaw
04:51 AM XXCoder: pine is almost like air to cnc lol
04:51 AM XXCoder: I had 1/16 ball endmill (carbide) go though pine like its not therem, and spindle was off
04:57 AM Loetmichel: gloops: i used to drive a 3mm twoflute tungsten carbide bit thru 4mm thick Fr4 at F4200... one pass...
04:57 AM Loetmichel: THATS a lot of glass dust ;)
05:15 AM gloops: whats that fibreglass?
05:19 AM Loetmichel: FR4 is the stuff CBs are made of
05:19 AM Loetmichel: PCBs
05:23 AM gloops: ill get round to trying it with some composites, also want to try slate
05:51 AM Tom_L: dulls things quick
05:52 AM jthornton: morning
05:52 AM Tom_L: hi
05:55 AM Tom_L: man, almost 70 already
05:57 AM jthornton: .weather
05:57 AM theCockerel: Yahoo! Weather - Poplar Bluff, MO, US: Cloudy, 20°C (68°F), Humidity: 98%, Light breeze 3.1m/s (↙)
06:06 AM jthornton: Tom_L: all the sims work on my Debian 9 hard drive
06:07 AM Tom_L: yeah, i'm not sure what's going on here
06:08 AM Tom_L: my config works, gmoccapy works but no sims
06:09 AM Tom_L: if windows isn't givin me crap, linux is...
06:11 AM SpeedEvil is now known as Guest23209
06:26 AM Deejay: .help
06:27 AM theCockerel: Hang on, I'm creating a list.
06:27 AM theCockerel: I've posted a list of my commands at https://ptpb.pw/sriB - You can see more info about any of these commands by doing .help <command> (e.g. .help time)
06:27 AM Deejay: .help weather
06:27 AM theCockerel: Deejay: .weather location - Show the weather at the given location.
06:27 AM theCockerel: Deejay: e.g. .weather London
06:27 AM Deejay: .weather Münster
06:27 AM theCockerel: Yahoo! Weather - Muenster, NW, DE: Cloudy, 21°C (69°F), Humidity: 52%, Gentle breeze 4.9m/s (↙)
06:28 AM Deejay: ah, nice
06:49 AM jdh: .weather nzsp
06:49 AM theCockerel: jdh: I don't know where that is.
07:25 AM hazzy-dev: .weather
07:25 AM theCockerel: Yahoo! Weather - Atlanta, GA, US: Scattered Showers, 20°C (68°F), Humidity: 96%, Light breeze 3.1m/s (↗)
07:26 AM hazzy-dev: naw, it's raining cats and dogs
07:33 AM rmu: .weather Linz
07:33 AM theCockerel: Yahoo! Weather - Linz, OO, AT: Partly Cloudy, 23°C (73°F), Humidity: 37%, Calm 0.0m/s (↑)
07:35 AM hazzy-dev: Well, I am happy to see that ATL is neither the hottest nor the most humid place, kinda hard to believe though :)
07:47 AM Beachbumpete1: .weather
07:47 AM theCockerel: I don't know where you live. Give me a location, like .weather London, or tell me where you live by saying .setlocation London, for example.
07:48 AM Beachbumpete1: .weather port st. lucie
07:48 AM theCockerel: Yahoo! Weather - Port St. Lucie, FL, US: Mostly Cloudy, 21°C (69°F), Humidity: 91%, Light breeze 3.1m/s (←)
07:49 AM hazzy-dev: Whoa, I did not know it could get below 100% RH in FL
07:49 AM Beachbumpete1: its actually quite nice here now but it has rained for a solid week and a half previously
07:50 AM Beachbumpete1: any of you guys familiar with syoz 25 collets?
08:04 AM hazzy-dev: Beachbumpete1: I have used them ...
08:05 AM hazzy-dev: The guys tend to over tighten them and they get deformed
08:05 AM Beachbumpete1: Oh really
08:05 AM Beachbumpete1: that is not too good
08:05 AM Beachbumpete1: what sort of machine do you use them on?
08:07 AM hazzy-dev: Old CNC Bridgeport, we have a few tool holders that take those collects, but I greatly prefer the ER holders
08:07 AM Beachbumpete1: funny you mention that
08:07 AM Beachbumpete1: this is for our CR ONsrud CNC router
08:08 AM Beachbumpete1: 28k RPM spindle
08:08 AM Beachbumpete1: the machine has HSK63F holders
08:08 AM Beachbumpete1: and they are available in several flavors
08:08 AM Beachbumpete1: ER25,ER32,ER40,SYOZ25 and a few others as well as shrink fit tooling etc.
08:09 AM Beachbumpete1: our VMC we bought a bunch of ER32 and ER20 holders like I use on my personal VMC
08:09 AM Beachbumpete1: trying to decide on the best setup for the big router
08:10 AM gloops: you only need er11 for router
08:10 AM Beachbumpete1: those Syoz go up to what diameter? what about them makes them crush prone?
08:10 AM hazzy-dev: I know a lot of people use the SYOZ25 on routers, but I don't know what the advantage is, if any
08:11 AM Beachbumpete1: ER11???
08:11 AM gloops: yeah, whatre you cutting with it?
08:11 AM hazzy-dev: ER11 is tinny!
08:11 AM Beachbumpete1: the previous owner of this machine used the Syoz 25's
08:11 AM gloops: what else are you going to put 3 and 6mm bits in?
08:12 AM hazzy-dev: I think the SYOZ25 go to .5". maybe a little more
08:12 AM Beachbumpete1: we will be processing plywood and plastics and some aluminum
08:12 AM Beachbumpete1: this machine is a 5x12 toolchanger equipped router with drill block for shelf pin and other holes etc.
08:12 AM Beachbumpete1: weighs 16k lbs and has a 30hp spindle
08:13 AM gloops: yeah but collet size is determined by the cutter shank diameter, not the size of the machine
08:13 AM Beachbumpete1: I am sure we will get some smaller collets for smaller bits
08:13 AM BitEvil is now known as SpeedEvil
08:14 AM Beachbumpete1: I understand that of course
08:14 AM hazzy-dev: Even the smaller diameters have the end recessed and have thin walls, that and the shallow tapper and it does not take much torque to seat them, but some guys still use Abomb torque on them and when you finally get the collect back out it is twisted and deformed
08:14 AM Beachbumpete1: ah I see
08:15 AM Beachbumpete1: monkey torque with a long breaker bar hehe
08:15 AM hazzy-dev: Also the range of the SYOZ25 is very limited, the ER collects have a much wider range
08:16 AM Beachbumpete1: I use ER20 but ER16 is probably more than adequate for the smaller bit sizes
08:16 AM hazzy-dev: yeah, I have seen them using the 26 crescent wrench on the holders, because it was close at hand
08:16 AM hazzy-dev: 36"
08:16 AM Beachbumpete1: woah
08:16 AM Beachbumpete1: dont they have a specific collet wrench/spanner?
08:16 AM MarcelineVQ: now that's a big wrench
08:17 AM gloops: if youre using large profile cutters you want half inch shank, but most cutting work is done with thin cutters
08:17 AM MarcelineVQ: I've got a 20 and it's obscene
08:17 AM hazzy-dev: No, the tooling is all used and did not come with the wrenches
08:17 AM gloops: - cannot get the details with large diamter
08:17 AM Beachbumpete1: we will be processing a lot of plywood and also eventually doing our 5 piece doors and other hardwoods on the vacuum puck blocks
08:17 AM gloops: plus just creating more waste and resistance for no reason
08:19 AM Beachbumpete1: most of the panel cutting is apparently done with either 3/8 or half inch compression style cutters
08:20 AM Beachbumpete1: I have run a lot of different CNC's but only run the CNC flatbed routers for a short time in Tennesse a few years ago.
08:20 AM Beachbumpete1: That was actually a pod and rail machine so it was a little bit different
08:21 AM Beachbumpete1: we machined a lot of thicker hardwood pieces on it
08:21 AM Beachbumpete1: it was not actually that good for panel processing because it did not have the Y width
09:07 AM * JT-Shop wonders if I'll ever get this shower pan installed
09:11 AM rmu: gloops: my wood router here has tool holders for 25mm tools ;)
09:15 AM rmu: for evil monsters like this here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H2kiCvRN7JQ

09:55 AM Spirit532__ is now known as Spirit532
10:29 AM gloops: rmu im not sure that would be called a router
10:31 AM gloops: i am going to had circ saw and horizontal spindle to mine though - one day haha
10:44 AM rmu: how would you call it then
10:56 AM Beachbumpete1: rum pretty impressive stuff ;)
10:57 AM Beachbumpete1: rmu that is hehe
10:59 AM SpeedEvil: Make sure it can spin a 60cm circular saw to 6000RPM, then throw it in the air.
11:01 AM rmu: 24000rpm on a Ø15cm cutter is scary enough for me
11:30 AM gloops: rmu traditionally a lot of those tasks are performed on a spindle moulder and tenoner, much faster than that, would you really call it a router? or machining centre, mill or whatever
11:35 AM gloops: well, time to fasten last roller bearing down on planer, couple of sprockets to weld on on friday and that should be running again
11:36 AM gloops: so 1 bandsaw + planer running, second bandsaw to make - once lathe is fixed lol
11:58 AM IchGucksLive: hi all
11:59 AM IchGucksLive: Deejay, thunder hedding our way
11:59 AM IchGucksLive: Deejay, did you see the amount of ice our region got yesterday
12:00 PM IchGucksLive: @ all im leving for 2 days to the USA this night
12:00 PM IchGucksLive: i wsill be back sunday or monday
12:08 PM IchGucksLive: im off Have a nice weekend BYE

12:16 PM theCockerel: Yahoo! Weather - North Pole, AK, US: Mostly Cloudy, 9°C (48°F), Humidity: 81%, Light air 1.8m/s (↗)
12:20 PM Loetmichel: *MUHAHA* just changed the left side speakers in the BMW convertible. Conclusion: ripped out 6 speakers (4 2 way coaxial, 2 bass) where 4 should be mounted. Also none of the same make or model or fitting for said car... and 5 of the 6 had at least one burned/seized membrane. The previous owner took the two bass speakers, wired them parallel to the rear speakers (full range) and simply threw
12:20 PM Loetmichel: then into the fenders. And i wondered why that sound "system" sounded so shitty and why the pioneer stereo i bought that car with was dead on all 4 amplifiers... :-)
12:43 PM phipli: .weather
12:43 PM theCockerel: Yahoo! Weather - Derby, England, GB: Sunny, 17°C (62°F), Humidity: 59%, Fresh breeze 8.0m/s (↙)

12:46 PM theCockerel: Yahoo! Weather - Los Alamos, NM, US: Sunny, 17°C (62°F), Humidity: 56%, Moderate breeze 6.3m/s (↑)
12:47 PM * hazzy-dev wants to go back to Los Alamos
12:49 PM voxadam: Who's bot is that?
12:52 PM emc: phil's bot
12:53 PM emc is now known as JT-Shop-2
01:06 PM Tom_L: Beachbumpete1 what's up?
01:22 PM Isleape1 is now known as Isleape
01:38 PM Beachbumpete1: Tom_L Hey man howsitoin ;)
02:21 PM gregcnc_: Where can you get schedule 10 pvc pipe?
02:22 PM methods_: is that a straw?
02:22 PM methods_: hehe
02:23 PM gregcnc_: almost. i need a spindle liner for my small lathe it would be perfect for 7/8 bar.
02:23 PM gregcnc_: failing that any ideas for boring SCH 40 to .900 2 feet deep?
02:24 PM gregcnc_: or one foot from both ends
02:24 PM gregcnc_: I had no problem last time I ran 7/8, but this time it's getting stuck
02:36 PM methods_: what od?
02:37 PM methods_: https://flexpvc.com/Products/ThinwallPVCPipe.shtml
02:37 PM Tom_L: pvc likely wouldn't hold up
02:38 PM methods_: https://flexpvc.com/Reference/FullPVCPipeChart.shtml
02:38 PM fragalot: gregcnc_: custom cutter with guide bushing on the front, spin up & pull through?
02:38 PM Tom_L: what about sprinkler pipe?
02:38 PM fragalot: gregcnc_: custom cutter being nothing more than a piece of round bar with a HSS blank mounted to it
02:38 PM methods_: not like it matters if it holds up
02:38 PM gregcnc_: almost free
02:38 PM methods_: if it gets tore up just cut you a new liner
02:38 PM methods_: throw the old one away
02:39 PM Tom_L: 1" irrigation pipe should be about the right size
02:39 PM Tom_L: it's fairly thin
02:39 PM gregcnc_: spindle is a puny 1"
02:40 PM Tom_L: so turn the end down to fit and leave the rest
02:41 PM Tom_L: or make a fitting and glue it on
02:41 PM gregcnc_: the whole thing is 1"
02:41 PM miss0r|laptop: Greetings from germany :) My belly is full of bier and schnitzel. All is good
02:42 PM miss0r|laptop: Although, I just farted so loudly that I could hear the people in the nextdoor hotelroom laugh... :-/
02:58 PM fragalot: greetings miss0r|laptop
02:58 PM fragalot: sounds like you're fitting in just great
02:58 PM miss0r|laptop: hehe, no offence to any germans present intented ;)
03:00 PM roycroft: don't talk about the war!
03:00 PM fragalot: the emu war? germany wasn't even involved
03:00 PM miss0r|laptop: roycroft; don't worrie. The place I was working today didn't realy have any english speaking people. By some miracle, I managed to get by with my quite limited german
03:03 PM fragalot: if all else fails, speak louder
03:03 PM roycroft: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfl6Lu3xQW0
03:04 PM miss0r|laptop: hehe
03:04 PM miss0r|laptop: So tomorrow I will drive home early, and make a quick stop at the border shop, and get some cheap smokes and sodas :)
03:06 PM gloops: quick view from left flank https://ibb.co/jt8Nfo
03:09 PM miss0r|laptop: Gloops: I was starthing to think the thing was made up! Good work
03:09 PM fragalot: it's real! :D
03:10 PM gloops: ill post some vids and stuff over the next week, im going to start using it properly any day
03:10 PM fragalot: you did an alright job there
03:10 PM miss0r|laptop: gloops: Isn't it just a little like those realy fat chicks on facebook only posting seriously closeup face photos? Show us all of it !
03:12 PM gloops: ahh well, got be careful there, we may well be in some kind of economic conflict with european nations soon, my machine will be of great interest to spies
03:13 PM miss0r|laptop: haha. Indeed
03:13 PM gloops: i dont want to give away too many secrets
03:13 PM fragalot: you should - because already know, but we want it to look like you volunteered the data
03:14 PM gloops: fragalot was a decent effort, to get that tacked together pile of rusty scrap steel moving and cutting properly lol
03:15 PM Tom_L: well grounded pile of rusty scrap steel
03:17 PM gloops: the ground wiring weighs more than the gantry
03:18 PM miss0r|laptop: XD
03:19 PM gregcnc_: is it grounded for a lightning strike?
03:22 PM gloops: all eventualities were covered gregcnc
03:23 PM gloops: think phone lens has fisheyed these pics or something, it looks twisted, but it isnt
03:23 PM fragalot: I'm honestly more surprised that there are no recycled land-rover parts on there
03:24 PM gregcnc_: wouldn't that be like breaking it before it was even built?
03:24 PM gloops: best buy was used rollon compact rails, z travel is bulletproof
03:25 PM gloops: £20
03:25 PM miss0r|laptop: fragalot: As a proud land rover owner, I'm glad it was not used
03:25 PM fragalot: a few friends of mine have one
03:26 PM fragalot: they regularly swap parts around from a donor they bought together
03:26 PM fragalot: the rest they find on the side of the road in britain
03:29 PM gloops: i dont think many young lads go through the land rover phase these days, it was part of the young male driver initiation, buy an old land rover, spend 18 months wages renewing and upgrading everything etc
03:30 PM gloops: no surplus of old land rovers anymore
03:53 PM Deejay: re

04:24 PM XXCoder: perfect for people who cant google
04:30 PM roycroft: it has more sentimental value if you pay money for it
04:35 PM XXCoder: lol guess so
04:54 PM gloops: looking like freecad .17 was released prematurely
05:13 PM Deejay: gn8
05:31 PM Crom: Yep been awhile...

09:55 PM Tom_L: how would "make deb-pkg" replace kernel-package in stretch?
09:56 PM Tom_itx: https://lists.debian.org/debian-user/2017/06/msg00777.html
09:57 PM Tom_L: referenced there
10:48 PM hazzy-dev: Tom_L: I am stuck at the same point :(
10:48 PM Tom_L: one dude says to remove kernel-package from the list
10:49 PM Tom_L: and run it
10:49 PM hazzy-dev: I did that, no luck
10:49 PM Tom_L: did you find the kernel-package you need?
10:49 PM Tom_L: i have a link to it
10:49 PM Tom_L: but i'm not sure how to install it
10:49 PM hazzy-dev: No, the link would be great!
10:49 PM Tom_L: after all i'm not a linux guru... just a noob
10:50 PM hazzy-dev: Same here
10:50 PM Tom_L: gimme a sec, i'll find it a gain
10:50 PM hazzy-dev: I am almost certainly more nooby than you!

10:57 PM * hazzy-dev is taking note
10:57 PM Tom_L: that tar file should be it
11:00 PM Tom_L: i'll fiddle with it another day
11:04 PM Tom_L: hazzy if you get it, take good notes :)
11:06 PM hazzy-dev: I will!
11:07 PM hazzy-dev: I messed with it last night a bit but made no progress, I will try again tomorrow if I get a chance
11:14 PM Tom_L: add that to pcw's script and try it. i'm not sure how to do that
11:54 PM RyanS: Why doesn't a plasma with the rack and rails mounted on top of the gantry beam, seem to be as common as front mounted rails? one example http://www.dynatorch.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/XLS-gantrywhf.jpg
