12:09 AM hazzy-dev: gn8
12:21 AM lcvette: join
12:25 AM lcvette: quiet night in here tonight
12:25 AM lcvette: ya'll must have missed me..lol
12:27 AM lcvette: got tracking on all my new computer parts, everything arriving wednesday except Mobo which will land Thursday, so hopefully get that installed by thursday night and load up linux and see where the latency stands
01:00 AM IchGucksLive: morning from Germany
01:00 AM fragalot: mornin'
01:01 AM IchGucksLive: lcvette, if you work on a mesa latency is not a factor
01:02 AM fragalot: IchGucksLive: surely the base thread still matters?
01:03 AM lcvette: morning
01:03 AM lcvette: im using the preempt RT kernel with ethernet and 7i92
01:03 AM lcvette: and gettign warnings
01:04 AM lcvette: i have really bad latency
01:04 AM lcvette: apparantly with ethernet kernel latency is more of an issue than with rtai and pci
01:04 AM IchGucksLive: lcvette, you can do alot to get them down
01:05 AM lcvette: i think its just a bad mobo bios combo
01:05 AM lcvette: when i say bad, i mean they are 190k/320k
01:06 AM lcvette: and ive gone through with help from several on here to try and fix it and bring it down with not much success
01:06 AM IchGucksLive: let me check the new one here i got yesterday 25 "new" one
01:06 AM lcvette: tried icoplus, going into the bios and shutting things off
01:07 AM IchGucksLive: T5720 from Nov 2007
01:07 AM IchGucksLive: let me stick in the USB Wheezy
01:08 AM lcvette: im running debian stretch preempt rt
01:08 AM lcvette: http://www.linuxcnc.org/testing-stretch-rtpreempt/
01:11 AM IchGucksLive: PC is running
01:13 AM IchGucksLive: 10k with glx gears
01:13 AM IchGucksLive: 18k with starting file browser
01:14 AM IchGucksLive: perfect education PC NO sound
01:14 AM IchGucksLive: USB Stick so fast modifikation
01:15 AM lcvette: thats good
01:15 AM lcvette: is that the preempt kernel?
01:16 AM IchGucksLive: yes
01:16 AM lcvette: yeah i think my current combination is just a bad setup for it
01:16 AM IchGucksLive: give me a word to type on screen to make a screenshot
01:17 AM lcvette: the new combination is a known good combination to work with the preempt rt kernel
01:17 AM lcvette: i don't understand
01:17 AM IchGucksLive: someone realy neds to fix this nad give a LIVE CD that has all from Start to go for a ETH
01:18 AM lcvette: yes!
01:18 AM lcvette: i wish they would
01:18 AM lcvette: its caused me some grief
01:19 AM lcvette: but its free unpaid work
01:19 AM IchGucksLive: now 19,5k
01:19 AM lcvette: thats still 170,000 better than mine
01:19 AM lcvette: lol
01:20 AM lcvette: are you running ethernet card?
01:20 AM IchGucksLive: lcvette, https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313.TR1.TRC0.A0.H0.XHP+t5720.TRS0&_nkw=HP+t5720&_sacat=0
01:21 AM IchGucksLive: why are they so eypensiv
01:21 AM lcvette: ah, i have already ordered my stuff
01:21 AM lcvette: it will be here in 2 days
01:22 AM IchGucksLive: then you are up and running
01:23 AM IchGucksLive: you need some sleep its late at your place
01:23 AM lcvette: doing some cad/cam work
01:23 AM lcvette: making some brackets for home and limit switches
01:23 AM IchGucksLive: cool what system
01:23 AM lcvette: i enjoy working late at night
01:23 AM lcvette: quiet
01:23 AM lcvette: solidworks and camworks
01:24 AM IchGucksLive: ok did you get a shot at freecad
01:24 AM lcvette: i did, i watched several of your videos last night
01:24 AM lcvette: very good!
01:24 AM lcvette: im excited to try it out some once im up and running on the machine pc
01:25 AM IchGucksLive: im off 2 Garden work
01:26 AM lcvette: do you run any of your machines on ethernet mesa cards?
01:38 AM gloops: im not seeing the need as yet
02:30 AM Deejay: moin
05:51 AM jthornton: morning
05:52 AM XXCoder: yo
06:08 AM Tom_itx: hey
06:09 AM Deejay: re
06:10 AM * jthornton goes to St. Louis today for a quick trip
06:13 AM Deejay: have fun
06:14 AM Tom_itx: got some pretty good rain last night
06:15 AM Tom_itx: looks like it's headed straight for you
06:15 AM jthornton: yea we just got a sprinkle last night
06:17 AM jthornton: yea looks like it is in western MO headed my way
06:46 AM Deejay: re
06:55 AM XXCoder: 81f my room. wish me good luck sleeping
06:58 AM MarcelineVQ: XXCoder: what timezone you run?
06:58 AM XXCoder: pacific
07:00 AM MarcelineVQ: heck no sense sleeping now then anyway
07:02 AM XXCoder: what?
07:02 AM XXCoder: I sleep 4 am to 5 am to 1 pm
07:02 AM XXCoder: I work second shift
07:03 AM MarcelineVQ: ah alright
07:18 AM * Loetmichel is a bit stupid today... I thought i could put a loopback plug on the serial port of a computer, do "copy [file] com1:" in one cnsole window and "copy com1: con:" in another and could test said comport continously.... doesetn work because the second command gets a "access denied" (comport locked by the first)... any idea how to solve that?
07:26 AM TurBoss: hello
07:27 AM TurBoss: does anyone here run some cnc embroider?
07:28 AM TurBoss: I'm thinking on build one
07:53 AM Tom_itx: Loetmichel i wrote a dos program years back to do just that and record both ends
07:54 AM JT-Shop: damn amazon just refunded the $302 to the buyer
07:55 AM Tom_itx: somebody cancel on you?
07:55 AM Loetmichel: Tom_itx: just downloaded https://sites.google.com/site/terminalbpp/ ... now to make a large text file to send that lasts 30 min... solved ;)
07:55 AM JT-Shop: no Ukraine post lost a shipment to a guy
07:55 AM Loetmichel: thanks though
07:55 AM JT-Shop: so he filed a complaint with amazon
07:56 AM Tom_itx: that sucks
07:57 AM Loetmichel: isnt "lost on shipment" a seller problem for B2C?
07:57 AM Loetmichel: or just in germany?
07:57 AM JT-Shop: yea and the ukraine does not send tracking info so if he gets it it's free
07:57 AM Tom_itx: i had that happen a couple times
07:58 AM Tom_itx: some guy overseas cancelled a couple days after i shipped wondering where it was... well it takes alot longer than that to arrive!
07:58 AM Tom_itx: he was obviously scamming
09:38 AM IchGucksLive: hi all
09:38 AM IchGucksLive: SERVO Baldor 3 pcs at ebay https://www.ebay.de/itm/3x-AC-Servomotor-Baldor-gebraucht/263684414498
09:41 AM IchGucksLive: im off till later
09:43 AM gloops: well, finally got to drag the planer thicknesser out, and found most of the bits for it, few minor improvisations to make, it will ride again
09:45 AM hazzy-dev: gloops: Wood planer?
09:46 AM gloops: yeah, its a bit of a vintage job, i had thousands of hours out of it years ago, rubber on rollers has gone and been took to bits etc, but think i can get it functional again
11:11 AM gregcnc: i'm watching youtube and there is an ad for an ad blocker
11:44 AM HighInBC: gregcnc: I installed something called pihole onto a cheap raspberry pi(any computer will do). You redirect any devices DNS to it and it blocks ads including youtube ads. Free of course
11:44 AM HighInBC: it works great for devices that can't block ads natively
11:44 AM gregcnc: I whitelisted YT
11:45 AM HighInBC: you prefer youtube ads?
11:45 AM HighInBC: my wife told me if I could not block the ads I had to stop watching youtube because I was yelling at the ads too much
11:45 AM gregcnc: i have a yt channel with ads and years ago I swear it limited my payouts while I was running one
11:46 AM HighInBC: ahh
11:46 AM HighInBC: clever of them
11:47 AM flyback-: BMCC
11:47 AM * flyback- headbutts HighInBC
11:48 AM HighInBC: ah the traditional Canadian mountain man greeting
11:48 AM flyback-: :p
11:48 AM * HighInBC smokes some bacon at flyback-
11:48 AM flyback-: work bbl
11:49 AM fragalot: Hi
11:55 AM gloops: playing with 'chalk paint'
11:55 AM gloops: how to make money selling coloured wood primer for top dollar
12:38 PM IchGucksLive: hi all
12:39 PM fragalot: Hey
12:53 PM IchGucksLive: can someone see this image on paste ? https://imagebin.ca/v/41t1X4575aud
12:53 PM IchGucksLive: i need a guess on settings
12:54 PM IchGucksLive: first 3 down all up or is the last right down
12:56 PM fragalot: not loading for me
01:02 PM IchGucksLive: my image pasteservice is non longer existuing
01:04 PM IchGucksLive: ok so then on the Homepage http://heimwerkermarkt-tretter.de/dil.jpg
01:04 PM IchGucksLive: CAN someoen get a glimp on this
01:05 PM fragalot: 3 upper part pressed, 4 down, last unclear
01:05 PM fragalot: guessning also down
01:05 PM fragalot: so that would be OFF OFF OFF ON ON ON ON ON
01:06 PM IchGucksLive: i guess so
01:06 PM IchGucksLive: the last one shoudent matter as i cna find out quick
01:07 PM IchGucksLive: its the Z Axis DRO numeration direction
01:07 PM IchGucksLive: so if i move pos the numbers shoudt also move
01:08 PM gloops: first 3 down, last 1 down
01:10 PM IchGucksLive: gloops, we will se tomorrow if you are wright
01:11 PM IchGucksLive: ok im off for today till tomorrow
01:12 PM * fragalot watches as gloops takes off in the air
01:13 PM gloops: there are better photos of the first flight than those switches
01:13 PM fragalot: hehe
02:14 PM gloops: slow cnc chat day today
02:15 PM MarcelineVQ: gloops: got more vids of your unit yet?
02:16 PM gloops: no not done anything more with it yet, been too busy
02:16 PM gloops: getting plans and designs together thats all
02:16 PM MarcelineVQ: nah the working one :>
02:17 PM gloops: the router - its working yeah, but not been using it
02:17 PM fragalot: pics!
02:17 PM gloops: lol, youve seen it
02:18 PM fragalot: i've seen a close-up of something it was cutting
02:18 PM fragalot: nothing else
02:18 PM gloops: well i posted pics during construction
02:19 PM gloops: i think maybe thats why archivist went actually
02:19 PM gloops: he knew he'd met his match when he saw those pics
02:20 PM fragalot: was I around during that time?
02:21 PM gloops: hmm, maybe not
02:21 PM gloops: i havent got them now, reinstalled operating system
02:29 PM gloops: i wanted 200mm z travel, which is a challenge for a gantry, instead of having tall posts on the gantry, which would have applied leverage on the X bearings, i raised the main frame above the cutting surface height
02:29 PM gloops: pretty common thing to do now
02:31 PM gloops: all in all, probably all the regulars in here helped me in some way, but not really with the mechanical side, that was all mine
02:32 PM gloops: XXCoder gave me the solution to debian not booting, archivist, jthornton, JTshop, Tom-L etc all pointed out config errors
02:32 PM gloops: fragalots ground suggestion, folowed by Loetmichel
02:36 PM syyl: fragalot
02:36 PM syyl: i work on a turd.
02:37 PM syyl: http://gtwr.de/div/pro_gd360_002.jpg
02:37 PM fragalot: syyl: uhm
02:37 PM Deejay: hmm, turd. i had to translate it
02:37 PM fragalot: another chinese?
02:37 PM syyl: lathe compound from a bottom-of-the-barrel chinese lathe
02:37 PM syyl: that one is realy bad.
02:38 PM fragalot: mine came cracked from the factory
02:38 PM syyl: hr ok
02:38 PM syyl: cant beat that ;)
02:38 PM fragalot: but i only spotted it after I put a new post on it for a QC toolchanger
02:38 PM syyl: http://gtwr.de/div/pro_gd360_005.jpg
02:38 PM syyl: numbers are in microns
02:38 PM fragalot: which makes it difficult to claim warranty
02:38 PM fragalot: well.. That is indeed bad, lol
02:39 PM syyl: :D
02:39 PM syyl: i just remachined all the dovetail surfaces
02:39 PM fragalot: so have you moved towards machine rebuilding more now?
02:39 PM gregcnc: oh, i didn't know that was you syyl
02:39 PM syyl: and its about factor 10 better now ;)
02:39 PM syyl: more like compound-slide rebuilding ;)
02:40 PM syyl: there are lots of shitty compounds out there
02:40 PM fragalot: yup
02:40 PM fragalot: lots of shitty saddles too
02:40 PM syyl: yes
02:41 PM fragalot: come to think of it, i've never actually checked if my lathe saddle is square to the ways
02:41 PM syyl: but people are a bit more hestitant to move an entire lathe...
02:41 PM * fragalot is scared to check his
02:41 PM syyl: do the parts come out to size and with correct geometry?
02:42 PM fragalot: the compound went into the trash, i've just got a fixed tool steel behemoth of a toolpost mount on it
02:42 PM gregcnc: I would think not many people are doing accurate enough work for it to matter to them
02:42 PM fragalot: they do, after playing twister with the bed
02:42 PM syyl: haha :D
02:42 PM syyl: same here, had to bend mine a bit..
02:43 PM gregcnc: i have to tweak the bed between od and id to get straight bores
02:43 PM gregcnc: when it matters
02:43 PM fragalot: o.O
02:43 PM syyl: :D
02:43 PM syyl: the joy of machining :D
02:44 PM gregcnc: ~8" long bores on a 24" long lathe
02:45 PM gregcnc: i don't think the number of times it's been crash at the highschool it came from could be tallied
02:45 PM gloops: not worth messing about when you can get these for nothing https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/lathe-vintage/253620292484?
02:45 PM gloops: tempted, but trying not to give in, im going to make one
02:46 PM fragalot: gregcnc: Happy little accidents.
02:46 PM MarcelineVQ: gloops: go halfway, buy one of those and remake the gears yourself
02:47 PM gloops: MarcelineVQ i only want to machine wood, thinking it through converting an old metal lathe would be the best solution
02:47 PM gloops: could just cnc that old lathe for metal heh
02:47 PM gloops: sorry WOULDNT be the best solution
02:48 PM MarcelineVQ: whew, scared me
02:48 PM fragalot: why would a metal lathe not be suited for wood?
02:48 PM fragalot: surely the only difference is the RPM range and toolpost?
02:48 PM MarcelineVQ: I was like, 4th axis is way better if you're going to put the effort in since your parts abilitity is vastly wider
02:48 PM gloops: in many ways it would be ideal, but in other ways it wouldnt
02:48 PM syyl: oh wait
02:49 PM syyl: i see an opportunity for a brilliant joke
02:49 PM syyl: a metal lathe wood be a good solution to machine wood
02:49 PM * fragalot waits
02:49 PM gregcnc: syyl that's why we all sit here watching
02:49 PM fragalot: I don't get it
02:49 PM MarcelineVQ: syyl: that's a very japanese sort of joke
02:49 PM * syyl is so sorry
02:49 PM syyl: :D
02:50 PM gloops: well..
02:50 PM fragalot: gloops: I don't see why it wouldn't work tbh
02:50 PM MarcelineVQ: syyl: puns are the highest form of comedy, it's just that no one wants to admit it
02:50 PM syyl: :)
02:51 PM syyl: to be on topic
02:51 PM gregcnc: wooden pens or bedposts?
02:51 PM syyl: spindle speed could be a problem with a metal lathe
02:51 PM gloops: first, i want 800mm between centres, second needs ballscrews, third - swing not adequate, fourth dovetail ways..not ideal
02:51 PM gloops: the lathe spindle would need controlling, speed not an issue really
02:51 PM gloops: spindle angle
02:52 PM fragalot: syyl: wouldn't that be a matter of better bearings/lubrication to deal with a higher rpm?
02:52 PM syyl: it depends ;)
02:52 PM MarcelineVQ: he may mean you want high rpm on wood for surface finish which may be annoying/hard on a standard metal lathe, dunno
02:52 PM fragalot: gloops: is the spindle angle different on a wood lathe?
02:52 PM syyl: no issue with most roller bearing spindles
02:52 PM gloops: not cutting with static tool edge, = cutting with spindle, rotating cutter
02:53 PM MarcelineVQ: speed is an issue, unless you like sanding, then speed isn't an issue
02:53 PM syyl: but plain bearings can be a problem with higher speeds
02:53 PM fragalot: or do you mean you need to be able to twist the spindle like on a small jewelers lathe
02:53 PM gloops: the lathe spindle would be an A axis
02:53 PM syyl: ah
02:54 PM syyl: you want more something in the range of a copy-carver?
02:54 PM syyl: just cnc
02:54 PM gloops: see if i can find something
02:55 PM gregcnc: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OH9yw0PZyvQ
02:55 PM syyl: machines from the guckstock industrie come to my mind
02:55 PM gloops: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QtyyaAozzwk&t=116s
02:56 PM syyl: *gunstock
02:56 PM gloops: call it a lathe, its a mill really
02:56 PM fragalot: so a cnc copy carver
02:56 PM gloops: ahh no wrong vid
02:56 PM syyl: :D
02:56 PM fragalot: still no issue to convert a wood lathe
02:56 PM fragalot: just replace the spindle motor with a servo or stepper
02:57 PM gloops: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mkh7EcE8Xlk
02:57 PM gloops: fragalot you need a biggish metal lathe
02:58 PM gloops: then you have to fit ballscrews
02:58 PM fragalot: well what you're getting is the frame.
02:58 PM gloops: thats arse about number 1
02:59 PM gloops: its not worth it i dont think, easier to make the frame to fit, than make the rest fit the frame
03:02 PM fragalot: syyl: so how are you sure that the top slide wasn't tilted like that to fit the cross slide correctly? :P
03:02 PM fragalot: ..timing
03:12 PM gloops: these half-tone things look ok, in photos https://scontent.fman1-1.fna.fbcdn.net/v/t1.0-9/32423060_2090571554305380_4550194074002391040_n.jpg?_nc_cat=0&oh=751fb1e4f5e26c88425b71bda2fdf45e&oe=5B526622
03:13 PM gloops: with a slightly more intriguing image maybe
03:17 PM fragalot: like one of your mill?
03:17 PM fragalot: ;-)
03:18 PM Rab: Hmm, solely depth with a ball mill?
03:19 PM fragalot: v-bit i'd imagine, but a ball would work fine too
03:21 PM Tom_itx: do you use v-bit or ballnose when doing an engraving cutout?
03:21 PM Tom_itx: does f-engrave let you specify the tool?
03:22 PM fragalot: V-carve from aspire does
03:22 PM Tom_itx: i was thinking like a .125" ballnose or such
03:26 PM gloops: f engrave does the v inlays
03:28 PM gloops: Rab im not sure with the halftones whether the app incorporates the v angle into the depth map, whatever it is
03:28 PM gloops: suppose it could be done with a straight or ballnose with same effect
03:30 PM gloops: http://jasondorie.com/page_cnc.html
03:32 PM gloops: it is a v bit looking at the pic again, the width of the lines varies, some messing to get that with straight bit
03:34 PM gloops: that blokes router was made with wood, apart from gantry, hes got some juddering going on
03:42 PM XXCoder: juddering?
03:43 PM gloops: yeah, like chattering
03:43 PM gloops: not cutting smoothly
03:43 PM XXCoder: ahh ok
03:44 PM gloops: fragalot whats happening in Molenbeek?
03:45 PM gloops: seeing vid of what looks like large explosion and fire
03:47 PM gloops: https://www.express.co.uk/news/world/960260/brussels-fire-molenbeek-belgium-pictures-latest-news
03:49 PM fragalot: no ideqa
03:50 PM XXCoder: gloops: nice link
03:50 PM fragalot: there was a huge fire in a plastics warehouse but that was in koekelberg
03:50 PM Tom_itx: gloops what are you using for your engraving?
03:51 PM fragalot: yeah that's the warehouse fire
03:51 PM fragalot: stored mainly plastics & wood
03:51 PM gloops: my mate asked me to look at Aspire for him, so i can show him how to use it, he works at a kitchen place
03:52 PM gloops: so im playing with that atm
03:52 PM fragalot: I used to use Cut2D. Worked well
03:52 PM Tom_itx: does it run in linux or windows?
03:52 PM XXCoder: gloop linked programs? windows it seems
03:52 PM gloops: it runs on wine, most functions, some gadgets dont work
03:53 PM XXCoder: ill just run it in vm
03:53 PM gloops: it needs lua environment for some gadgets (nothing to do with the main program) for some wine struggles with that
03:53 PM gloops: some reason
03:53 PM XXCoder: wine sucks sometimes
03:54 PM XXCoder: get vm or something
03:54 PM gloops: well, the main app works ok, generates code everything, just gadgets, like for dovetailing, various stuff, ive got it on a windows laptop as well
03:54 PM Tom_itx: does vcarve or aspire have free versions?
03:55 PM Tom_itx is now known as Tom_L
03:55 PM fragalot: I don't think so
03:55 PM XXCoder: f-engrave?
03:55 PM gloops: not that i know of you might get cut2d free
03:55 PM Tom_L: i think f-engrave is
03:55 PM XXCoder: does that have range of features as vcarve?
03:55 PM Tom_L: i had one a long time back but i forgot what it was
03:55 PM fragalot: cut2D is not free
03:55 PM Tom_L: just lookin for something to mess around with
03:56 PM gloops: f engrave does quite a bit of what v carve does, the difference is in the convenience and the appearance i suppose
03:57 PM fragalot: I don't actually think vectric has any free tools
03:57 PM fragalot: but imho they are incredibly easy to use and worth their price
03:57 PM gloops: well, the gadgets are free, but you need vectric app to run them
03:58 PM gloops: yes you can set up a complex sign or something very quick, couple minutes youve got code
03:58 PM gloops: thats why they pay for it
03:59 PM gloops: by no means the best modelling app or whatever, not for precision parts or anything, but very good at what it is for
03:59 PM fragalot: they specialize in sign making and other "if it looks right" parts
04:00 PM fragalot: they don't offer anything in terms of dialling your part in to the nearest millionths of a mm :P
04:00 PM fragalot: and that is OK.
04:01 PM fragalot: I much prefer a one-trick pony that works beautifully than a jack of all trades that is a master of none.
04:01 PM gloops: offsets is another thing that is available everywhere, not sure how f-engrave does with that, can be very time saving
04:03 PM gloops: BUT..what i have realised - vectric have taken most of their drawing ideas from inkscape
04:03 PM fragalot: because it works :P
04:03 PM gloops: draw in inkscape - code from f-engrave, same result
04:04 PM gloops: inkscape is better
04:04 PM fragalot: because that's what inkskape does well, drawing.
04:04 PM XXCoder: yep
04:04 PM fragalot: i've only ever used vectric for the CAM part
04:04 PM XXCoder: it does that very well indeed
04:06 PM gloops: inkscape has got g-code tools, i only had a quick look at it
04:06 PM XXCoder: I wonder how it works, gonna test it later
04:06 PM XXCoder: is it addon or builtin?
04:06 PM fragalot: I don't like inkscape for CAM at all
04:07 PM gloops: its built in latest version XXCoder, doesnt look straightforward though, not to me anyway
04:07 PM XXCoder: it should be addon, because it sounds like addon type of thing not builtin. very few artists is machinists
04:08 PM gloops: i think it was/is a plugin, you had to install it before, it comes installed now
04:09 PM XXCoder: interesting
04:09 PM gloops: think a lot of laser people use inkscape
04:09 PM gloops: maybe its mainly for cutting on the lines, pocketing out the vectors
04:10 PM fragalot: my mum uses it for her vinyl cutter
04:14 PM gloops: so 2d, for v carving you need 2.5d, f-engrave will supply that
04:33 PM gloops: unfortunate syntax error 'blundercam' lol https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=amfyajRRiPM
04:34 PM gloops: must get into this, i think its probably being badly overlooked as free cam software
04:34 PM gloops: because most diyers are terrified of Blender itself
04:35 PM XXCoder: blender heh that has insane learning curve
04:35 PM gloops: cam looks ...fairly straightforward
04:35 PM XXCoder: maybe
04:36 PM XXCoder: its blender itself that deters me
04:36 PM gloops: in a stroke it is miles ahead of freecad
04:41 PM gloops: i havent looked at blender for a couple of weeks, i was getting to the point where i could probably model something, a face say, in mesh, now the next 5 one hour sessions will probably regaining that point
04:42 PM gloops: but it will stick eventually
04:43 PM fragalot: yeah, blenders' pretty damn good, but I still don't think that CAM is a thing it does well
04:43 PM fragalot: it's been quite a... well, a decade since I last used it
04:43 PM MarcelineVQ: you should be able to import the model into cam software luckily
04:44 PM fragalot: I vaguely remember modelling a few cars in it
04:44 PM fragalot: MarcelineVQ: Indeed. :-)
04:44 PM MarcelineVQ: fragalot: ditto, or longer, I've seen some pretty amazing things made in it lately
04:46 PM gloops: surely though, blendercam will be aimed at cutting blender models
04:47 PM gloops: its got a strange way of importing the model, into a 3d container space
04:47 PM MarcelineVQ: I wonder how blender compares to zbrush these days
04:47 PM gloops: i dot think zbrush has the same depth
04:48 PM MarcelineVQ: hehe alright. I wonder how blender compares to zbrush these days, for things you'd use prefer to use zbrush for typically
04:53 PM gloops: probably like some laser thing made to measure angles, it probably is better, but the old joiner will just say - ive got a sliding bevel for that
04:58 PM fragalot: a sliding bevel is for transferring, not really measuring
04:59 PM gloops: explosion in california now
05:03 PM SpeedEvil: Probably secondaries from Hawaii
05:09 PM gloops: bomb squad on scene
05:39 PM JT-Shop: now I wonder if I want to ship to the Ukraine again...
05:39 PM jdh: I'd pass
05:40 PM jdh: or only tracked delivery
05:40 PM roycroft: i would pass as well
05:41 PM JT-Shop: the Ukraine does not provide tracking info so tracking stops at Chicago
05:44 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, there were a couple places i didn't ship to
05:45 PM Tom_L: i had one from Dubai i refused
05:45 PM Tom_L: he even admitted it would likely not arrive
05:45 PM roycroft: and nobody in their right mind ships to trump tower
05:45 PM roycroft: because the owner never pays :)
05:46 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, i can't recall the other country but there was one other i stopped sending to as well
05:50 PM JT-Shop-2: if you think of it let me know
05:50 PM Tom_L: i had one bad one in France but it was 'lost in shipment'
05:50 PM JT-Shop-2: Turkey is UPS only
05:50 PM Tom_L: it was a 3rd world country but i can't recall where
05:52 PM Tom_L: i generally kept track of the day i shipped and the day it was received so i could build a file of shipping times to places
05:54 PM pcw_mesa: we ship to the Ukraine but charge extra
05:54 PM Tom_L: it could have been S Korea but i can't honestly remember and my records aren't coming up with that particular one
05:54 PM JT-Shop-2: pcw_mesa: ever lost a shipment to the Ukraine?
05:58 PM pcw_mesa: No, but we use priority intl which has $200 insurance but we have not lost any yet
05:58 PM pcw_mesa: we also check the destination address to see if it looks legit
06:01 PM pcw_mesa: (with google maps)
06:12 PM pcw_mesa: Or course good old Fedex lost that ~$14,000 shipment to Portugal for ~6 Months (never left Memphis TN)
06:12 PM Tom_L: the only other ones i can find were scammers from Canada and NYC
06:12 PM Tom_L: going back to 2010
06:15 PM JT-Shop: yea I read about that one
06:16 PM pcw_mesa: tracked to Memphis and then disappeared
06:16 PM JT-Shop: kinda like my first check to you guys... lost in space lol
06:17 PM pcw_mesa: It was bad because the recipient handled the freight and did not insure it
06:17 PM pcw_mesa: so its lucky Fedex finally found it
06:18 PM JT-Shop: I think it's time for a cricket rodeo with the pullets, that always makes everyone happy
06:18 PM pcw_mesa: Sounds like fun
06:18 PM JT-Shop: it is fun trying to make sure everyone gets some
06:41 PM JT-Shop: might as well shoot myself in the foot, most of my orders are international I assume because of allowing first class
06:42 PM JT-Shop: oh well fun while it lasted
07:29 PM gregcnc: in the new version of paypal payment details you can't see the buyers email for ebay sales
07:38 PM phaxx: fuckin' finally. the amount of shit I get from eBay sellers after a decade of buying there is unreal. fuck all those people.
07:40 PM gregcnc: sucks if you want to sell somebody something and skip ebay
07:43 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop is that the first one that bit?
08:52 PM gregcnc: https://chicago.craigslist.org/chc/tls/d/lansing-15-metal-lathe/6590071729.html
08:53 PM gregcnc: ever seen a spindle with a ceramic taper? https://rockford.craigslist.org/tls/d/mori-seiki-mv-40-cnc-vertical/6585059648.html

09:28 PM hazzy-dev: CaptHindsight: fragalot seems squirrelly, me thinks he had something to do with the untimely demise of the poor wee birdie
09:28 PM hazzy-dev: xD
09:34 PM CaptHindsight: who makes 20" wide conveyor belting that's also a timing belt?
09:35 PM CaptHindsight: hazzy-dev: dunno, I'm practicing a drama free lifestyle :)
09:36 PM CaptHindsight: except for Broadway, film and some TV
09:37 PM CaptHindsight: http://www.vossbelting.com/ http://www.fnsheppard.com/conveyor-belt-timing-belts-applications.html
09:56 PM MarcelineVQ: CaptHindsight: a cnc goldmining operation? :>
09:57 PM CaptHindsight: nah just synchronous belt
10:04 PM CaptHindsight: https://imgur.com/gallery/DCO2edc
10:20 PM Tom_L: CaptHindsight that'd be one big timing belt
10:20 PM CaptHindsight: yup
10:21 PM Tom_L: rivet belting to actual belts?
10:21 PM CaptHindsight: bond, stitch, rivet
10:24 PM CaptHindsight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EzmM2wqfric another option
10:25 PM CaptHindsight: I can probably get away with just a regular belt and use indexing
