12:34 AM IchGucksLive: morning from germay
12:46 AM IchGucksLive: morning
01:48 AM Deejay: moin
04:55 AM jthornton: morning
04:56 AM XXCoder: hey
05:15 AM Sabotend_ is now known as Sabotender
05:23 AM jthornton: maybe I'll get to cut some wood this weekend
05:25 AM XXCoder: saw?
05:25 AM XXCoder: ;)
05:26 AM jthornton: yea got tired of my old pos jet table saw and got a new one a week ago
05:28 AM XXCoder: lol was jjoking about cnc and saw but guess I was right :P
05:33 AM gloops: finally getting somewhere with the router and now no time to use it, everything is gonna slow right down after this week ill make sure of that
05:34 AM jthornton: the blade that came with the saw is garbage just got a good blade the other day and put it on
05:34 AM jthornton: now the blade to miter slots are < 0.002" out of parallel
05:35 AM XXCoder: gloops: im stuck in building hell
05:35 AM XXCoder: one room is still being cleared out
05:35 AM XXCoder: so we can rip walls off and add isulation, networking, etc
05:35 AM gloops: well, may as well get it all done and out of the way now XXCoder
05:35 AM jthornton: when your done it will be so nice
05:36 AM XXCoder: yeah though there is still 2 other rooms
05:36 AM XXCoder: the clothes wash room and restroom
05:36 AM XXCoder: we moved the hot water tank and added new water hose to kitchen upstairs so ref finally has water
05:38 AM XXCoder: that hot water tank was placed strangely
05:38 AM XXCoder: so we moved it to better use space
05:39 AM XXCoder: found out one of walls there is dummied out small space under dining room
05:39 AM XXCoder: not sure if we could extend to that space and convert it to shelving with doors for clothes wash area
05:59 AM IchGucksLive: hi all
06:00 AM XXCoder: hey
06:00 AM IchGucksLive: getting cloudy outside and also thunder in the air
06:02 AM IchGucksLive: so many are now on the cheep tb6560 board new generation i will make a small video on easy settup
06:03 AM XXCoder: new version of tb6560 eh
06:03 AM XXCoder: is it any better?
06:04 AM fragalot: Hey
06:04 AM IchGucksLive: i think the SMD only version is quite speedy and it has a 500pf istad of a 1k sao it is on 250kHz
06:04 AM XXCoder: SMB?
06:04 AM IchGucksLive: hi fragalot
06:05 AM IchGucksLive: SMD
06:05 AM jthornton: hey
06:05 AM IchGucksLive: i get on the same mashine nearly double ACC
06:05 AM XXCoder: jthornton: wonder how cheap it would be to also move water pipes so on inside the dummied out space
06:05 AM IchGucksLive: whyle speed sema to be limit to the mechanik itsef
06:06 AM XXCoder: to make room for inside-wall shelving and stuff
06:06 AM jthornton: the new flexible water pipe is easy to run
06:06 AM XXCoder: er yeah IchGucksLive what is smd heh
06:06 AM IchGucksLive: the tiny unsolderable parts
06:07 AM gloops: well, im not sure now if tb6600 was crap or just reactly differently to the ground problem i had
06:07 AM gloops: reacted
06:07 AM IchGucksLive: BAD is only the smd Capacitor FOR Clockspeed is so bad mounted
06:07 AM gloops: they certainly seemed to black out without much of a fight
06:08 AM gloops: when they were working the cutting seemed the same
06:08 AM IchGucksLive: gloops, did you open the driver if there is a real tb inside
06:08 AM IchGucksLive: or a cheeper M332
06:08 AM gloops: Ichs no i just changed them, i am not good with electronics
06:09 AM IchGucksLive: if its Broken SCREW the Hell out of it
06:09 AM gloops: ive got 3 spares that might be perfectly good lol
06:09 AM IchGucksLive: do you got the ENA wirerd
06:09 AM gloops: no
06:09 AM IchGucksLive: For F2 Motor on use
06:10 AM IchGucksLive: THAT is the Reason
06:10 AM IchGucksLive: they dont like to be powerd bevor parport
06:10 AM gloops: i thought of that, i did put 5v to one ENA on one driver
06:10 AM gloops: i should wire all the ENA up now
06:11 AM IchGucksLive: brig them all 3Drivers to one port
06:11 AM IchGucksLive: 4th 5th to another
06:11 AM IchGucksLive: gridge
06:11 AM IchGucksLive: bridge
06:11 AM gloops: i will when i get time
06:11 AM IchGucksLive: whatever cable short
06:12 AM XXCoder: gloops: im not sure whats going because Im also bad with electrics
06:12 AM XXCoder: and I succeed on electrics part of build
06:12 AM XXCoder: twice actually, first with tb6560 and second with tb66009s
06:13 AM gloops: adding any wires is not easy in this stupid box now everything is wired in, its full and difficult to do anything without disturbing things
06:13 AM gloops: XXCoder you seem to know quite a bit of theory though
06:13 AM XXCoder: only basics
06:14 AM XXCoder: and I had gotten some concepts wrong
06:14 AM gloops: TB6600 was fine if you wanted to cut short straight lines slowly, once you started long code going faster it died
06:15 AM XXCoder: dunno, I used it to engrave bunch of stuff
06:15 AM XXCoder: seemed fine.
06:15 AM IchGucksLive: gloops, lots of space http://heimwerkermarkt-tretter.de/3achs_elek
06:15 AM gloops: probably the underlying ground issue i had, lots of people say they are fine
06:15 AM XXCoder: in fact, only electrics issues I had was due to wire disconnecting in middle of run lol (spindle control)
06:16 AM IchGucksLive: bad
06:16 AM gloops: tb6600 died, dm543 carried on, but with lots of erratic motion
06:16 AM IchGucksLive: dm543 never heard
06:16 AM IchGucksLive: M542T
06:16 AM gloops: 542
06:16 AM XXCoder: IchGucksLive: yeah though pine was so weak the tool (1/16 inch) simply went though it lol
06:17 AM IchGucksLive: DM556
06:17 AM gloops: ill get a pic of my box tommorrow lol, handfuls of spaghetti everywhere
06:17 AM IchGucksLive: gloops, like my 5Axis
06:17 AM IchGucksLive: http://heimwerkermarkt-tretter.de/5achs_elek
06:17 AM gloops: but its all working ok now so thats that
06:19 AM gloops: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lPLCwitPWY
06:20 AM IchGucksLive: why not G64 P0,1
06:20 AM IchGucksLive: it stops on every corner
06:20 AM IchGucksLive: get this in as a standard on wood mashines
06:21 AM gloops: it is g64
06:21 AM IchGucksLive: and think og G61 on Hiher precision pard
06:21 AM gloops: last pass is for holding tabs
06:21 AM IchGucksLive: gloops, did you got notive of a new vid i made promoting this channel
06:22 AM gloops: i also need some spiral cutters instead if these chinese things, they for hand router
06:22 AM IchGucksLive: for wood use 2 flute
06:22 AM IchGucksLive: like the real wood bits
06:22 AM gloops: no didnt see it Ichs, ive not been looking much lately, after this week ill be back to normal
06:23 AM IchGucksLive: im off as groups from forest MTB tour coming up the hill
06:30 AM jthornton: I need to get some hickory scraps from my buddy with the saw mill
06:44 AM Tom_L: jthornton, what's your first project gonna be?
06:44 AM jthornton: cross cut sled
06:45 AM Tom_L: i suppose that kinda figures..
06:45 AM XXCoder: thats great idea
06:45 AM Tom_L: like the one in the video you posted the other day?
06:46 AM jthornton: yea the william ng video
06:49 AM jthornton: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UbG-n--LFgQ
06:51 AM Tom_L: you see the post about my kid yesterday?
06:51 AM Tom_L: i'm rather proud of him
06:51 AM jthornton: no
06:52 AM Tom_L: he was invited to compete in the skillsusa.org competetion for cnc milling specialist
06:53 AM Tom_L: one of the things they had to do was take a blueprint and hand code the part
06:53 AM Tom_L: came in 1st
06:53 AM XXCoder: wow
06:53 AM XXCoder: nice
06:54 AM XXCoder: hell of entry on resume
06:54 AM Tom_L: he wasn't too sure of himself going into it
06:55 AM Tom_L: so now he's goin to the nationals at Louisville
06:56 AM XXCoder: good luck to him :)
06:56 AM XXCoder: well night
06:59 AM Tom_L: Spirit, Textron and others were there watching & judging
07:13 AM nallar is now known as Ross
07:15 AM SpeedEvil: :)
07:15 AM jthornton: Tom_L: nice work he did
07:15 AM * jthornton returns from poo patrol
07:22 AM phipli: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oWCdEh0agh4
07:23 AM JT-Shop: morning phipli
07:24 AM phipli: morning
07:26 AM phipli: how goes?
07:41 AM JT-Shop: not bad got a walk this morning for cancer
07:47 AM phipli: walking far?
07:51 AM JT-Shop: I don't know how far... it's beyond me why the wife thinks she can do the walk she can't even walk to the mailbox and back :(
07:55 AM JT-Shop: breakfast time :)
08:23 AM dioz: looooooooooool
08:24 AM Loetmichel: JT-Shop: CANT or WONT?
08:25 AM Loetmichel: (to the mailbox)
08:28 AM * Loetmichel just came back from lunch. before that i had a delivery. a 4.5m long roll of 50m^2 heavy carpet and a few boxes of hafr flooring and 50m of baseboard... thankfully i could bribe the delivery driver to help me get that to the second floor... lift here is only for 4 persons, NO chance i would have gotten that roll into it.
08:29 AM Loetmichel: still i was pretty out of breath (to the point that i saw sparkles) when we hauled that monster roll thru the staircase for two floors.
08:30 AM Loetmichel: seems i dont have as much stamina as i hat at 20yo :-)
09:00 AM * fragalot_ needs a break
09:02 AM phipli: do you have a kitkat?
09:02 AM fragalot_: https://photos.app.goo.gl/Qpq766sqbCcWtr6b6 <= highly encouraging spotting pattern still after the 5th run
09:03 AM fragalot_: https://photos.app.goo.gl/jLKhp1sVpo41KGHU8 <= other end.
09:03 AM fragalot_: (colors & details are max. boosted to make it easier to see)
09:54 AM IchGucksLive: hi asll
09:55 AM IchGucksLive: ;.)
09:58 AM IchGucksLive: Loetmichel, der Herr KannNicht wohnt in der willNicht Strasse :O
10:00 AM IchGucksLive: so all potatos are Planted for this year
10:00 AM IchGucksLive: Tomatos did get the last big pot bevor plant oit
10:00 AM IchGucksLive: Salat is growing like Hell
10:01 AM IchGucksLive: and water reserve is up to 65%
10:07 AM Loetmichel: IchGucksLive: what? i dont saind i couldnt do it
10:07 AM Loetmichel: just that i was pretty out of breath afterwards
10:24 AM IchGucksLive: holzjunkie, did the wood chip today
10:24 AM holzjunkie: IchGucksLive: don´t5 ask me it really evil in the moment
10:25 AM phipli: Should buy some racking for the shed...
10:28 AM IchGucksLive: holzjunkie, tiny space to move around the parts
10:29 AM IchGucksLive: holzjunkie, do you got the Square HG20 Rail set i adviced
10:30 AM holzjunkie: IchGucksLive: no way to get to it. first my wife´s car is damaged today i have fixed it after 2,5 month and monday my own car is damaged engine fault.......
10:30 AM IchGucksLive: BAD year i guess so far
10:31 AM IchGucksLive: Loetmichel, did you work yourself with the sqare Hiwin
10:34 AM IchGucksLive: im off till later
10:55 AM fragalot_: right. Back to scraping. :D
11:03 AM phipli: good luck
11:03 AM fragalot_: ty.. it's starting to almost consider mating in like 2% >.>
11:04 AM phipli: what are you scraping?
11:06 AM fragalot_: my rf45
11:06 AM fragalot_: the saddle is crooked so X did not run square to Y or 2
11:06 AM fragalot_: Z*
11:06 AM fragalot_: the saddle itself is now perfectly flat (it was warped), now i'm working on the Y dovetails of the mill
11:07 AM fragalot_: but the contact pattern on it now is absolutely atrocious
11:07 AM fragalot_: going at it with the scraper now, bearing down on it hard enough to form a curly chip rather than shavings, and it's still taking dozens of passes to get rid of a high spot
11:08 AM fragalot_: considering getting the angle grinder out, lol
11:11 AM SpeedEvil: Nothing wrong with angle grinders. Can be quite precise tools used carefully
11:12 AM phipli: SpeedEvil, my dad swears by the 9" for carpentry... but then he is from a farming background
11:13 AM fragalot_: SpeedEvil: sure, but a bit tight to get into the corners :P
11:13 AM fragalot_: though i guess I could use the foredmo
11:13 AM fragalot_: foredom*
11:13 AM SpeedEvil: You can fix that with the angle grinder.
11:13 AM fragalot_: maybe even put the chisel attachment on xD
11:14 AM phipli: also this : http://elephantandchicken.co.uk/misc/Carving.jpg
11:14 AM phipli: my brother after getting a grinder for christmas
12:12 PM fragalot_: porosity, welded up porosity, hard spots.. this casting should have never left the factory imho
12:20 PM IchGucksLive: hi all
12:20 PM fragalot_: hi
12:28 PM IchGucksLive: rain has stopt outside we will get the BBQ going soon
12:29 PM IchGucksLive: but no stars for telescope today
12:29 PM fragalot_: that's normal here
12:29 PM fragalot_: light pollution is extreme around me
12:29 PM IchGucksLive: so many people from astronomy observer station here
12:29 PM fragalot_: that made it extra cool going to scotland in the middle of nowhere :-)
12:30 PM IchGucksLive: Namibia is best to go
12:30 PM fragalot_: trying iceland first
12:30 PM fragalot_: i'm absolutely certain i'll see LOADS of stars there
12:30 PM fragalot_: considering i'm going in summer
12:30 PM fragalot_: when it's never dark
12:30 PM IchGucksLive: you can not see your hand in front of your face but so many stars you cand find your target
12:30 PM fragalot_: xD
12:31 PM IchGucksLive: C16 is a good for the star chaising
12:33 PM IchGucksLive: im off seing smoke from center so it is a party starting
12:33 PM IchGucksLive: GN8 from Germany
01:57 PM Tom_L: what was that ini setting to turn off information in the axis screen lower right corner?
01:57 PM Tom_L: i thought i made a note of it...
02:17 PM JT-Shop: I didn't know you could do that
02:17 PM JT-Shop: if there is a setting it's in the documents
02:18 PM Tom_shop: you brought it up a while back
02:18 PM Tom_shop: i think i found it but it's not working as expected
02:18 PM Tom_shop: bottom of the page of the axis gui section
02:19 PM Tom_shop: axisui.notifications-clear-info
02:19 PM Tom_shop: setp axisui.notifications-clear-info 1
02:19 PM Tom_shop: i thought that was correct?
02:19 PM Tom_shop: or should it be setb?
02:21 PM Tom_shop: anyway i need to figure how to set that true
02:22 PM zeeshan: hi
02:22 PM zeeshan: :D
02:22 PM zeeshan: https://www.automationdirect.com/adc/Shopping/Catalog/Cables/Sensors_-z-_Switches/Micro_(M12)_Receptacles/7000-42111-0000000
02:22 PM zeeshan: anyone know where i can buy something like this for 16 awg wire
02:23 PM gloops: Did anybody see the news about Harley Davidson?
02:23 PM gloops: They were awarded over $1.000.000 for copyright infringements.
02:23 PM gloops: They are getting fed up with people using their logo from anything to t-shirts to mugs to people on the internet.
02:23 PM gloops: Some of those who lost their money were people who had simply allowed others to use their site, to produce the logo without permission.
02:23 PM gloops: zeeshan probably get it on ebay
02:23 PM zeeshan: im having a hard time finding em
02:23 PM zeeshan: i see them at work all the time, but not in heavy gauge
02:24 PM zeeshan: i need mount that on my truck
02:24 PM zeeshan: so i can thread in connectors from both sides
02:25 PM gloops: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/SICK-CONNECTOR-CABLE-M12-FEMALE-STRAIGHT-TO-M12-MALE-STRAIGHT-5-PIN/372244816294?
02:25 PM gloops: not cheap
02:26 PM zeeshan: i can get those
02:26 PM zeeshan: i cant even find the picture of what im looking for lol other than what i posted
02:26 PM zeeshan: https://www.alliedelec.com/images/products/Small/70026578.jpg
02:26 PM zeeshan: its almost something like that
02:26 PM zeeshan: without the rj45 connection lol
02:26 PM zeeshan: https://sc01.alicdn.com/kf/HTB1k6lDmTnI8KJjSszgq6A8ApXa5/230041576/HTB1k6lDmTnI8KJjSszgq6A8ApXa5.jpg
02:26 PM zeeshan: more
02:27 PM zeeshan: that middle part is what i need
02:27 PM gloops: be lucky to get that bit id think, unless from larger electrical supplies
02:31 PM JT-Shop: Tom_L: asixui.notitications-clear-info is a one time thing
02:31 PM JT-Shop: you can use it in a M1xx to clear the notifications
02:34 PM Tom_L: you have to call it repeatedly?
02:39 PM JT-Shop: each time you want to clear the message box yes
03:02 PM pink_vampire: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1260359869/swissmak-the-mill-turn-center-for-your-machine-sho
03:04 PM gloops: 62k? make one
03:06 PM XXCoder: yo
03:06 PM gloops: howdy
03:06 PM XXCoder: gloops: its not 62k
03:06 PM Rab: Interesting machine...interesting design, apparently made from aluminum plate.
03:07 PM XXCoder: yeah
03:07 PM XXCoder: video shows it cutting what appears to be steel rod
03:07 PM XXCoder: it does alum just fine
03:07 PM Rab: Price looks competitive with entry-level Tormach, suspect it's not quite as capable at the exact same tasks (but more capable at others obv).
03:09 PM XXCoder: yeah
03:10 PM XXCoder: dont think I will get one, but pretty cool anyway
03:12 PM JT-Shop: ER collet on the spindle?
03:12 PM gloops: i saw 62k flash up somewhere
03:12 PM XXCoder: it ooks like cat30 but dunno
03:13 PM XXCoder: it didnt seem to have pull tab so no idea
03:13 PM JT-Shop: cuts delrin good
03:13 PM JT-Shop: yea no pull stud on the holder
03:13 PM gloops: my 4 axis will be made from granite sections ive collected
03:13 PM gloops: granite + iron
03:23 PM syyl: aluminium ways and not a single attemt to guard the ways from chips?
03:23 PM gloops: ally is too tinny
03:28 PM roycroft: yes, it is
03:28 PM roycroft: but cast iron and granite are very woody
03:29 PM gloops: you cant beat woody
03:29 PM roycroft: cast iron
03:29 PM roycroft: granite
03:29 PM roycroft: intercourse
03:29 PM roycroft: erogenous zooooooooooooones
03:29 PM roycroft: very woody all that
03:32 PM roycroft: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-gwXJsWHupg
03:32 PM roycroft: for them that don't get it
03:33 PM gloops: we all know that the science of machine building has already been secured
03:33 PM gloops: heavy = good
03:33 PM MarcelineVQ: "The ultimate prototyping machine. [As long as your prototypes are at most 6 inches long.]"
03:35 PM syyl: and not to hard of a material
03:35 PM syyl: i dont see that thing turning and milling toolsteel parts.
03:37 PM MarcelineVQ: neat looking little thing though, and the odrive being in it is a nice step in the right direction for open source controllers assuming this goes anywhere
03:37 PM roycroft: what luck
03:37 PM roycroft: i got back from saturday market just before the deluge began
03:38 PM gloops: buy anything interesting roycroft?
03:38 PM MarcelineVQ: ways are hard anodized appearantly, dunno what that translates to longevity-wise
03:38 PM roycroft: i managed to get the garden herbs out of the car and set on the beds in which they'll be planted, and myself in the front door, just as the downpour began
03:38 PM roycroft: i barely got wet
03:38 PM roycroft: i got what i needed, gloops
03:39 PM syyl: there are not even waywipers
03:39 PM roycroft: the farmers had basil starts, but it's still a week or two early for that
03:39 PM roycroft: most of my herbs are perennials, so not much planting is needed
03:39 PM roycroft: and last week i tore out all my strawberry plants, as they were getting rather old, and planted new ones
03:41 PM roycroft: hmm, the forecast has been amended from 23mm of rain today to 0.83mm of rain today
03:41 PM roycroft: i don't think i believe that, as we've had at least 0.83mm in the last 10 minutes
03:42 PM roycroft: the forcast also calls for a high of 14, and it's 16 right now
03:42 PM gloops: i planted new stock a couple of years back 'Elsanta' tbh im not that impressed flavour wise
03:43 PM gloops: got a small bed of royal sovereign spreading wild, ill plant a couple of rows of those in the autumn
03:43 PM roycroft: i bought a couple "pineapple" strawberries
03:43 PM roycroft: they're a hawaiian variety that bear white fruits
03:43 PM roycroft: and are supposed to have a fairly strong pineapple/honey flavor
03:44 PM roycroft: they need to cross-pollinate with red varieties, so i just mixed them in with the others
03:44 PM MarcelineVQ: syyl: hard to tell from the promo materials but I wonder if the x screw is exposed to chips as well
03:44 PM gloops: hmm think someone posted on facebook about those, supposed to be very good
03:45 PM roycroft: about 10 years or so ago i built some raised beds for raspberries
03:45 PM MarcelineVQ: it seems to be in the renders
03:45 PM roycroft: i plant strawberries along the edges of those beds
03:45 PM roycroft: it works out nicely - i like to keep the raspberries in the middle of the beds
03:45 PM roycroft: and i have some support wires to hold them up
03:45 PM roycroft: the edges of the beds are otherwise free
03:46 PM roycroft: so strawberries fit nicely there
03:46 PM roycroft: and since they're raised beds, the strawberries can hang over the edge a bit, which they like
03:48 PM gloops: also maybe keeps the fruit off wet soil
03:49 PM gloops: wife planted a goji berry about 10 year ago, got half a dozen small fruit last year for the first time
03:49 PM gloops: im hoping it will start fruiting normally now, ive threatened to dig it out more times.. about 8ft high
03:50 PM Deejay: gn8
03:50 PM XXCoder: gloops: lol some fruit plants takes a long time to start
03:50 PM XXCoder: avocodo is one of worse
03:50 PM XXCoder: it might be 8 years. it might be never
03:50 PM gloops: yeah, same with some flowers XXCoder - wisteria can take many years, although once flowering pretty reliable
03:51 PM XXCoder: avocodo planters cheat and do inplant of older braches into younger avocodo trees
03:51 PM gloops: yes, you want to be grafting stuff to speed things up
03:51 PM XXCoder: I want a avocodo tree, looks interesting
03:52 PM XXCoder: but here it freezes enough times that its not doable
03:52 PM XXCoder: maybe in 2 or 3 years
03:52 PM gloops: i know they grow them from stones here, im not sure if they survive outside though or if they grow them in pots
03:52 PM XXCoder: https://www.thetreecenter.com/wp-content/uploads/Avocado-tree-Winterhome.jpg
03:52 PM XXCoder: ah you heard of avocodo seed boat?
03:54 PM gloops: nice looking trees, hmm ive never really taken that much notice of how they do it, just seen photos and stuff they post - im not an avacado eater so not got seriously interested in growing them

03:54 PM XXCoder: theres 3d printable one if have one lol
03:55 PM XXCoder: funny thing you would need to damage seed for it to germate. I didn't, and it didnt work bah. gonna try again later
03:56 PM gloops: seems like the seed needs to have access to water all the time, but not be submersed
03:56 PM XXCoder: exactly
03:56 PM MarcelineVQ: found out we had grafts here when our plumb trees grew two different flower colors this year
03:56 PM XXCoder: it takes well over a month like that
03:56 PM XXCoder: thats why boats is good idea/
03:56 PM MarcelineVQ: at different times :>
03:57 PM XXCoder: it stays with water line
03:57 PM gloops: longer harvesting and different plums Marcel
03:58 PM gloops: ive tried without success to get mistletoe to strike on apple trees, maybe a bit too north here, although there are odd examples this far up
03:59 PM XXCoder: pineapple is weird one to grow from what I see
03:59 PM XXCoder: you cut top off, plant it in soil (keep green above soil)
03:59 PM XXCoder: it turns into new pineapple.
03:59 PM gloops: strange thing yeah, not difficult to get started though i dont think
03:59 PM XXCoder: you can do it infinite times
03:59 PM XXCoder: my question is how get 2 from 1? lol
04:00 PM XXCoder: celery is same, only bottom
04:00 PM gloops: wonder if half a pineapple top would root
04:00 PM XXCoder: maybe
04:00 PM MarcelineVQ: cellery can make seeds
04:01 PM XXCoder: sweet pototo: cut in half lengthwise and plant em. 2 plants
04:01 PM gloops: thats another one thats a bit of a craze here atm
04:02 PM Stelios: Hello there i have got a 1.5kw spindle from ebay with this inverter https://cdn.hackaday.io/files/255641093730176/VFD%20ASKPOWER%20A131%20UserGuide.pdf
04:02 PM XXCoder: btw important detail https://inhabitat.com/wp-content/blogs.dir/1/files/2012/06/Avocado-Pit-Orientation-537x357.jpg
04:02 PM gloops: they buy sweet potato slips or something - again something i dont eat so never bothered
04:02 PM XXCoder: yes, not only need to manage seed half in water for weeks, top have to be up, bottom down.
04:03 PM gloops: yes Stelios?
04:03 PM Stelios: i havent found any youtube video about this inverter and i need to ask if there is a way to modify its settings so i get more torque in low rpm with it
04:03 PM roycroft: avocados are, in my experience, extremely difficult to sprout
04:03 PM roycroft: i've only been able to successfully do it a couple times
04:03 PM roycroft: and i've tried dozens of times
04:03 PM gloops: Stelios is this for a router?
04:04 PM roycroft: and yes, i know how to orient the pit
04:04 PM XXCoder: roy avocodo boats is designed to help uou
04:04 PM Stelios: It is a 1.5kw spindle
04:04 PM XXCoder: failed 2 times so far, yeah its hard
04:04 PM XXCoder: its amazing avocodo is everywhere
04:04 PM Stelios: with 24k max rpm
04:04 PM roycroft: i use toothpicks and a water glass
04:05 PM gloops: i dont know how to change torque band with that vfd, or if possible, someone may know
04:05 PM gloops: btw you can get your 425oz to make 5m/min
04:05 PM MarcelineVQ: It's possible, he's looking for an explanation for Pn 13 and Pn 14 it looks like, I don't know anything about it though
04:05 PM roycroft: and i usually buy organic avocados, so residual pesticide spray is not an issue
04:06 PM Stelios: gloops: WOW how the heck i can to that?!
04:06 PM gloops: change gear ratio with pulleys
04:07 PM Stelios: yes but i will loose torque this way right?
04:07 PM gloops: i get 5m/min easily on my Y axis, 2-1 ratio
04:07 PM gloops: yes you will lose torque
04:07 PM gloops: but still cut wood easily
04:08 PM Stelios: Have you checked the pdf i send? pn13 and pn14 settings say something about start voltage but i dont quite get it
04:09 PM gloops: its same vfd as mine
04:09 PM MarcelineVQ: Stelios: based on your manual, Pn14 sets the speed you want the extra torque to happen below, in frequency instead of rpm. it has a little diagram that tries to show this relation. Pn 13 doesn't clearly label what the number refers to but you can experiment with it to see what helps, just go slow
04:09 PM gloops: watch what you are doing making random changes there
04:09 PM gloops: may cause damage to the motor
04:10 PM MarcelineVQ: say you've a 24k rpm spindle, 12k would likely be around 200Hz, so if you set Pn 14 to 200 then any time you're running the spindle at 12k rpm or lower the torque increaser will start. It's unfortunate that Pn 13 isn't better documented thogh because as gloops says it can be bad for the spindle
04:10 PM roycroft: donut let the magic smoke make an escape
04:10 PM roycroft: you can't put it back in the motor
04:11 PM Stelios: hahah!
04:12 PM gloops: whats the low revs for - aluminium?
04:12 PM MarcelineVQ: idk if frequency is quite that linear so 200Hz might not be 12k rpm, you'll have to experiment
04:12 PM Stelios: yes for aluminium
04:12 PM gloops: air cooled spindle?
04:12 PM Stelios: yeap air cooled
04:13 PM gloops: remember cooling is not so efficient at low revs
04:13 PM MarcelineVQ: my own vfd only torque compensates up to 10% more voltage, so I have no idea what 0.0-4.0 means for Pn 13
04:14 PM Stelios: yea i know that but i wanted to go at around 8k - 10k rpm but i wanna be sure that the spindle has enough torque there
04:15 PM gloops: oh yeah for ..sensible cutting
04:16 PM Stelios: yea coz if i try to cut aluminium lets say at 18k rpm i must go for feeds that mu cnc cant handle
04:16 PM gloops: what speeds have you got?
04:17 PM Stelios: the speeds we talked about yesterday with the wantai motors
04:17 PM gloops: 1200mm/min? you can treble that easy
04:17 PM Stelios: i can go safely at around 1800mm/m
04:18 PM gloops: then what happens?
04:19 PM Stelios: yes but if i go with 1800mm/m to aluminium at 18k rpm the rpm is tooo fast and i jey to mutch temperature without having "nice" chips
04:20 PM Stelios: *yea i know my english sux*
04:20 PM gloops: 12000 rpm
04:21 PM gloops: maybe fit some kind of cooler on the spindle, a seperate fan to glow down the ducting
04:21 PM gloops: blow
04:23 PM Stelios: i try to use this to calculate my feed :Feed = N x cpt x RPM
04:23 PM Stelios: so if i go at 12k rpm with a 2 flute 6mm bit i get:
04:24 PM Stelios: feed = 2X 0,15 X 12.000
04:24 PM Stelios: so the feed is 3.600mm/m
04:24 PM Stelios: this is WAY to fast
04:24 PM Stelios: thats why i need to slow down the spindle
04:26 PM gloops: use single flute for ally
04:27 PM Stelios: so 1800mm/m at 12k rpm
04:27 PM gloops: i would get some pulleys and make the necessary brackets so everything is ready just to switch to pulley/belt drive, you can switch over then one day without losing much machine time
04:28 PM Stelios: so i must try more feed not slowing the spindle down right?
04:29 PM Stelios: and isnt pulleys the same like taking a more attack ballscrew?
04:29 PM Stelios: with bigger lead?
04:30 PM gloops: yes youre just changing the number of motor turns in relation to the screw
04:30 PM gloops: 1 motor turn = 2 screw turns, or 3 or whatever ratio you choose
04:30 PM Stelios: ow ok.
04:31 PM gloops: what diameter screws?
04:31 PM Stelios: so the 2X 425oz motors have enough power at the Y axis to go for some more speed?
04:31 PM Stelios: 20mm
04:32 PM Stelios: the
04:32 PM gloops: ive got 2 425 oz motors pushing gantry - gantry is heavy, box section steel, i can go to 4200mm/min on that axis
04:32 PM gloops: but upgrading to 4.5nm motors
04:32 PM gloops: 20mm screws can easy take 5m/min
04:33 PM gloops: you should also try reducing acceleration, it is an important factor
04:33 PM Stelios: the Y axis will be 1,5m travel will the 16mm screws work or i have to fo for 20mm?
04:33 PM MarcelineVQ: accel is scary, too much accel causes the drivers I have to smoke :>
04:34 PM gloops: 20mm at least for 1.5metre
04:34 PM Stelios: ok then 20mm it is!
04:34 PM gloops: well, 16mm will be ok but you wont be going too fast
04:35 PM gloops: http://www.nookindustries.com/EngineeringCalculator/MetricCriticalSpeed
04:35 PM Stelios: so what is better to go for more attack screws or to go for a 2:1 pulley?
04:36 PM gloops: 1500mm screw, 16mm outer diameter = 700 rpm x 4mm pitch 2800mm/min
04:36 PM gloops: well, get 2010 screws
04:36 PM gloops: if you can avoid pulleys it is better imo
04:36 PM gloops: keep it simple
04:37 PM Stelios: ok i will go for these!
04:37 PM gloops: 2010 screw at 1500mm length is good for 9m/min
04:38 PM gloops: assuming your motors can give 900rpm, which they cant
04:38 PM gloops: but you might get round 4-5m/min
04:40 PM gloops: i only used the cheapest minimal components for mine, but it is torquey enough and fast enough for what i want https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4lPLCwitPWY
04:42 PM MarcelineVQ: oh my mdf is nasty stuff gloops
04:42 PM gloops: yeah need dust suction setting up
04:42 PM MarcelineVQ: hope you've got a proper air mask and a shopval
04:42 PM gloops: ive got just the thing heh
04:42 PM MarcelineVQ: *vac
04:43 PM gloops: im going to fix a dust shoe with suction
04:44 PM MarcelineVQ: do a machine overview vid :D
04:45 PM MarcelineVQ: the one I'm retrofitting has sproket and chain on the x and it's too darn fast, resolution is a little low, fine for wood luckily
04:46 PM gloops: oooh i like chain, i made my first one with bike chains lol
04:46 PM gloops: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ballscrew-RM2010mm-1500-C7-FKFF15-10-12mm-Flexible-Coupler/112329993851?
04:46 PM MarcelineVQ: if direct driven one motor shaft turn is 4 inches of travel and I've only got room for a 2:3 pulley :X
04:47 PM MarcelineVQ: can't recall what that translates to distance-per-step but it's not metal cutting precise that's for sure
04:48 PM gloops: i forget now what my pitch ended up, its was 12.7mm pitch chain, very fast, but not very much cutting force left, if i made another with chain id go for much smaller pitch chain
04:49 PM MarcelineVQ: this stuff looks like 12.7 as well
04:49 PM gloops: its funny now Marcel - when you say youve only got room for 2-3 pulley, i had exactly same problem, to gear it down to something slower id need a sprocket about 10 inch accross lol
04:50 PM gloops: i really felt bad when i broke that machine up i loved how it moved
04:50 PM MarcelineVQ: just lucky I could fit reduction on at all in in the space I have hehe
04:51 PM MarcelineVQ: pulleys are 5m htd belt, chosen at a bit of a guess so we'll see how it goes
04:51 PM MarcelineVQ: *5mm
04:51 PM gloops: well, chain is not so expensive, you can reduce overall pitches with smaller pitch chain and sprockets at some point, if necessary
04:52 PM gloops: thus reducing sprocket sizes
04:54 PM MarcelineVQ: it's a 9 tooth sprocket with 12.7mm bore, they might make 7 but I'd be dubious. it'll do for now at least
04:54 PM MarcelineVQ: it's just fun to be working on something useful
04:55 PM gloops: yep, who cares, if it works it works
04:56 PM Stelios: gloops: this is from china i hope that i can find from europe coz i live in Greece
04:56 PM gloops: they usually go through germany, 2010 is not so common as 2005
04:57 PM Stelios: yea i am looking at ebay and cant find 2010 from europe
04:57 PM gloops: plus only cheapo c7 screws, i dunno many would laugh at a ballscrew for sub £2000
05:06 PM gloops: im glad i grew out of calculating speeds and screws and belts lol
05:08 PM jdh: put in a new tool and go slower?
05:09 PM gloops: yeah, its like queue hopping at traffic lights, all that fuss and in the end it doesnt get you anywhere quicker really
05:11 PM gloops: if you want a fast machine you need to build a fast machine from the start, you change the screws on a slow design, sure it moves faster, but then you find the gantry bends at 10m/min
05:11 PM gloops: so..new gantry, new bearings etc
06:15 PM Spirit532_ is now known as Spirit532
06:22 PM Spirit532: I wonder, does anyone here work with KUKA robots?
06:23 PM Spirit532: This and #reprap are the only channels I know of on freenode
06:23 PM Tom_L: #robotics, #seattlerobotics
06:27 PM Spirit532: thanks
09:23 PM roycroft: oh, happy belated ed balls day to our british friends
09:23 PM * roycroft forgot it was that time of year already
09:24 PM XXCoder: ed bals day? dont sound good lol
09:26 PM roycroft: he's a former labour mp
09:26 PM XXCoder: why do people celebrate him
09:27 PM roycroft: and was a cabinet member who held a couple small portfolios in the gordon brown/tony blair days
09:27 PM roycroft: seven years ago today ed meant to google himself
09:27 PM roycroft: instead, he accidently tweeted "ed balls" from his @edballs account
09:28 PM roycroft: so every year on 28 april it's ed balls day
09:41 PM cradek: it was his first tweet ever, wasn't it?
09:48 PM pink_vampire: what are you prefer for a day to day chuck on the lathe, 4 jaw chuck independent or self centering 3 jaw?
09:48 PM cradek: centering
09:49 PM XXCoder: 4 jaws good for more unusual jobs, like running a square stock, say
09:50 PM pink_vampire: it took me about 60 secs to center somting in the 4 independent.. but to remove the chuck is very heavy for me
09:51 PM XXCoder: you might want a lift
09:51 PM XXCoder: rated to say 200 pounds
09:51 PM XXCoder: problem is apartment lol
09:56 PM pink_vampire: i think i will use the 4 independent as my day to day go to chuck
10:23 PM XXCoder: pink_vampire: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4TiM6_XX10o
10:24 PM XXCoder: not sure hat burnishers are but video is interesting so far.
