01:27 AM holzjunkie: gloops: still working on it
01:30 AM holzjunkie: hy at all
01:30 AM holzjunkie: how to work on a *.bit file?
01:39 AM holzjunkie1 is now known as holzjunkie
02:46 AM gloops: bit files - someone was working on them in here last week
03:09 AM pink_vampire: https://imgur.com/a/Tkdrt
03:11 AM XXCoder: nice
04:38 AM Deejay: moin
04:52 AM holzjunkie: moin
04:58 AM gloops: the weather has been depressing for months, long term rain forecast, garage roof leaking, pff
05:00 AM heathmanc: oh, I wasn't just working on .bit files, they were working on me
05:00 AM XXCoder: lol
05:06 AM holzjunkie: ok so i updated my system but i can´t choose the 7i80db only 7i80hd!?
05:07 AM gloops: dont panic!
05:08 AM holzjunkie: no panic
05:09 AM jthornton: only difference is the connector I think
05:09 AM jthornton: morning
05:10 AM holzjunkie: hy jt
05:11 AM jthornton: chickens are all still sleeping and no rats in the run :)
05:11 AM holzjunkie: ok maybe but i can´t choose the right firmware
05:12 AM jthornton: what are you trying to do?
05:14 AM holzjunkie: we have load the firmaware 7i77x4 to the 7i80 and now i try to use the pncconf wizard to set up my system
05:15 AM jthornton: ah, I've never used the pncconf wizard
05:15 AM jthornton: the author does watch the forum
05:15 AM holzjunkie: ok is there another dau save way to set it up ?
05:17 AM jthornton: https://forum.linuxcnc.org/10-advanced-configuration/28691-7i80-configuration
05:21 AM holzjunkie: ok the dau discribtion: D.A.U. Dümmster Anzunehmender User = stupid assuming user
05:22 AM jthornton: I usually start with a working configuration then modify it, my guess is any ethernet configuration will work just change the names
05:23 AM jthornton: http://www.mesaus.com/info/7i76e.zip
05:23 AM jthornton: wrong link
05:23 AM jthornton: just woke up lol
05:26 AM holzjunkie: ;-) no prob
05:26 AM holzjunkie: but how to edit a bit file?
05:26 AM jthornton: you don't edit a bit file just the ini and hal files
05:28 AM holzjunkie: ok so i´ve to find the ini an the hal first
05:29 AM jthornton: do you have the 7i80 connected and powered up?
05:29 AM holzjunkie: yes
05:30 AM jthornton: have you flashed the bit file to the card?
05:30 AM holzjunkie: yes the 7i77 x4
05:37 AM jthornton: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/T9NSTsPK7d/
05:37 AM jthornton: that should get you a list of all the pins, let me know if that worked
05:42 AM holzjunkie: did i need root ?
05:42 AM jthornton: no
05:48 AM holzjunkie: error: can´t find module hm2_eth
05:49 AM jthornton: hmm I get the same error
05:50 AM holzjunkie: ok so it not me
05:50 AM jthornton: ah are you running this with LinuxCNC uspace?
05:50 AM holzjunkie: in the folder is an hm2_test
05:50 AM holzjunkie: uspace ?
05:53 AM jthornton: the ethernet boards don't work with RTAI only Preempt RT kernel
05:53 AM jthornton: how did you install LinuxCNC
05:53 AM jthornton: and what does uspace -a report back
05:54 AM jthornton: I meant uname -a
05:54 AM holzjunkie: ok if i say fron dvd it is not the right answer i guess
05:54 AM holzjunkie: d
05:55 AM holzjunkie: but i only can say the simple graphical install
05:55 AM jthornton: what does uname -a report back
05:55 AM holzjunkie: mom
05:56 AM holzjunkie: at startup the grub wrote rtai
05:58 AM gloops: just to clarify something, SCALE in the INI file = steps per unit? ive forgot
05:58 AM holzjunkie: linux debian 3.4-9-rtai-686-pae #1 SMP PREEMPT Debian 3.4.55-4linuxcnc i686 GNU/Linux
05:59 AM jthornton: http://linuxcnc.org/docs/2.7/html/getting-started/getting-linuxcnc.html#_installing_on_debian_wheezy_with_preempt_rt_kernel
06:14 AM jthornton: bah I can't find my notes for debian uspace install
06:25 AM jthornton: guess I can toss a hard drive in the other pc and build again... and take notes
06:27 AM jthornton: I'm pretty sure I started with this iso https://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/unofficial/non-free/cd-including-firmware/9.4.0+nonfree/amd64/iso-cd/firmware-9.4.0-amd64-netinst.iso
07:16 AM jthornton: holzjunkie: I'm installing debian 9 and taking notes then I'll install the rt preempt kernel etc then linuxcnc uspace
07:52 AM holzjunkie: jthornton: sorry for the question but what notes? how to install the rt preempt?
07:58 AM JT-Shop: yes, I'm making notes on how to get everything installed
08:10 AM holzjunkie: ok i´ll install debian 9 to so i can start with your instruction
08:11 AM JT-Shop: https://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/unofficial/non-free/cd-including-firmware/9.4.0+nonfree/amd64/iso-cd/firmware-9.4.0-amd64-netinst.iso
08:11 AM JT-Shop: I used that iso
08:12 AM JT-Shop: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/dDnY7wxQsJ/
08:12 AM JT-Shop: that's what I have so far
08:13 AM Tom_L: what's up today?
08:14 AM JT-Shop: chicken door lock failed again, took it off for now
08:14 AM Tom_L: software or hardware?
08:16 AM Loetmichel: as long as you dont have a few /2 chickens now everything is good :-)
08:38 AM JT-Shop: hardware
08:59 AM holzjunkie: JT-Shop: burning 386 image and then install
08:59 AM holzjunkie: moin michel
09:39 AM gloops: ive got another broody hen by the look of it, and 6 duck eggs ready, try again, last time arctic blast froze the eggs so i didnt bother, hen went off broody anyway
10:36 AM holzjunkie: JT-Shop: the installation hangs constantly
10:42 AM holzjunkie: what is about this way: http://linuxcnc.org/docs/html/getting-started/getting-linuxcnc.html point 7.1
10:50 AM Tom_L: another way to get where you want to be
10:52 AM Tom_L: to run preempt-rt you need a fairly quick machine though
10:52 AM Tom_L: or the latency will be high
10:54 AM holzjunkie: latency is not important i´ll work with mesacards
10:55 AM Tom_L: it is somewhat important but less with mesa cards
10:55 AM Tom_L: my latency with rtai was good but with preempt was like 3000000
10:56 AM Tom_L: on an older mb
10:56 AM Tom_L: so it does matter a little bit
10:56 AM holzjunkie: I have an 800mhz notebook
10:56 AM Tom_L: questionable then
10:57 AM Tom_L: i would certainly run a latency test after installing preempt
10:57 AM holzjunkie: rtai latency was less 10000
10:57 AM Tom_L: mine was less than that
10:57 AM Tom_L: just saying...
10:58 AM holzjunkie: i´m thankfull for infos it the only way to learn
10:58 AM Tom_L: yup
10:59 AM Tom_L: just dont assume because rtai was ok that preempt will be
11:00 AM holzjunkie: no the problem is that the 7i80db won´t work with rtai
11:00 AM Tom_L: is it one of the ethernet boards?
11:00 AM Tom_L: those require preempt
11:02 AM pink_vampire: https://imgur.com/a/3M2ZW
11:03 AM holzjunkie: ?
11:12 AM pink_vampire: i'm cleaning
11:13 AM holzjunkie: ohh
11:14 AM IchGucksLive: hi
11:15 AM holzjunkie: hi
11:15 AM IchGucksLive: unn gehts holzjunkie
11:35 AM pink_vampire: https://i.imgur.com/SUD135C.png
11:35 AM IchGucksLive: jthornton, is the iso with the 12.04 no longer online i only find the 10.04 http://linuxcnc.org/iso/
11:36 AM IchGucksLive: pink_vampire, are you now a lathe girl
11:50 AM pink_vampire: IchGucksLive: lol
12:02 PM jthornton: holzjunkie: you around?
12:02 PM jthornton: IchGucksLive: there never was a 12 ubuntu IIRC
12:04 PM holzjunkie: jthornton: yes but the installation of debian 9 won´t work
12:05 PM jthornton: hardware too old?
12:05 PM holzjunkie: maybe 800mhz notebook
12:06 PM jthornton: notebook is not good for real time cnc control to many power saving features
12:06 PM holzjunkie: ichguckslive told me it´s possible to install uspace on the std installation
12:06 PM jthornton: step by step https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/wfzsrwZr4N/
12:07 PM jthornton: yes you have to find the rt kernel and install it first
12:07 PM jthornton: also some iso's http://www.linuxcnc.org/testing-stretch-rtpreempt/
12:09 PM jthornton: holzjunkie: did you run the latency test for a hour or more?
12:12 PM holzjunkie: yes it was less then 10000
12:12 PM holzjunkie: in std installation
12:25 PM jthornton: http://linuxcnc.org/docs/2.7/html/getting-started/getting-linuxcnc.html#_installing_on_debian_wheezy_with_preempt_rt_kernel
12:26 PM holzjunkie: i´ll try stretch i think
12:26 PM jthornton: ok
01:57 PM holzjunkie: debootstrap-error
01:59 PM holzjunkie: arrrggg can anyone help?
01:59 PM holzjunkie: i can´t reach a mirrorserver
01:59 PM holzjunkie: and if i wan´t to go further with the system installation
01:59 PM holzjunkie: I get an error
02:02 PM gloops: youre making good progress holzjunkie
02:04 PM holzjunkie: gloops: not for real but thx
02:04 PM holzjunkie: i´ll go mad
02:05 PM gloops: yes i thought you might say that
02:05 PM gloops: perfectly normal for someone doing that
02:07 PM holzjunkie: is it possible to install stretch via terminal from normal iso installation
02:23 PM CaptHindsight: from command line? Should be an option
02:26 PM holzjunkie: the problem is to connect to the mirrorserver at the installation
02:43 PM JT-Shop: holzjunkie: are you using the pre-built stretch from linuxcnc?
02:53 PM gloops: a treat for all hexapod fans https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j3LleQtr1K0&feature=youtu.be
02:57 PM JT-Shop: that's pretty slick
02:57 PM gloops: someone on facebook is considering making one lol
02:57 PM gloops: pretty impressive thing though yes
02:58 PM JT-Shop: I hate to program that lol
02:58 PM enleth: it's a prototype, right?
02:59 PM andypugh: A pentapod
02:59 PM enleth: those look like ballscrews, with no spring guards or anything
02:59 PM enleth: chips must be getting in there
02:59 PM enleth: especially fast, far-flying steel chips
03:00 PM gloops: wipers
03:00 PM andypugh: Some telexcopic spring covers would seem like a good addition
03:00 PM enleth: ah, there are covers in one shot
03:01 PM enleth: gloops: I wouldn't trust wipers alone to protect a crazy expensive ballscrew/ballnut assembly like those
03:01 PM andypugh: You have seen the LinuxCNC Hexapod?
03:03 PM andypugh: And, of course, the one that EMC was written for: https://goo.gl/images/oDzccD
03:03 PM XXCoder: boo
03:03 PM XXCoder: andypugh: btw goo.gl service is closing soon
03:04 PM andypugh: That’s just the link that google images supplies.
03:05 PM XXCoder: intresting
03:05 PM XXCoder: also, delta milling? dunno lol
03:05 PM gloops: emc2 was written to control that very machine?
03:06 PM somenewguy: does anyone here use pcb2gcode?
03:08 PM CaptHindsight: that Metrom video is of more than one machine or at least with various ballscrews
03:08 PM gloops: IchsGuckslive probably knows it somenewguy
03:08 PM CaptHindsight: and spindles
03:09 PM gloops: i thought that, one video the screws look much faster pitch
03:09 PM CaptHindsight: wish it was higher res
03:10 PM CaptHindsight: yeah I see at least 3 different screw pitches
03:10 PM CaptHindsight: https://youtu.be/j3LleQtr1K0?t=1m32s compare
03:11 PM CaptHindsight: https://youtu.be/j3LleQtr1K0?t=1m49s
03:12 PM CaptHindsight: vs @ 2:15 and the attachment to the spidle is different
03:12 PM gloops: i suppose once you have the working prototype the parts are not difficult to replicate, soon have half a dozen
03:13 PM CaptHindsight: I'd like to see the ballnut motors
03:13 PM CaptHindsight: the screws don't spin
03:15 PM gloops: you dont want the screws to spin, theyve got to be connected to the spindle platform
03:15 PM CaptHindsight: maybe it's done like this one? https://youtu.be/G_UmhUjZhNo?t=10s
03:15 PM CaptHindsight: with belts
03:16 PM gloops: not a big thing to make rotating nuts, i designed one, as yet not manufactured
03:16 PM CaptHindsight: I'd just like to see theirs
03:17 PM gloops: post comment on video 'show us your nuts'
03:18 PM CaptHindsight: Germans don't have that sort of humor
03:18 PM somenewguy: i feel like they will just say "okey dokey" and show em to ya
03:19 PM gloops: you need 2 thrust bearings spragged against spring washers
03:20 PM CaptHindsight: 9 9 9
03:21 PM gloops: Ichs did it with pillow blocks, the ones i bought had 1mm of axial movement so i abandoned that plan
03:21 PM andypugh: gloops: Yes, NIST built that Hexapod and NIST wrote EMC (before it went open-source and became EMC2)
03:22 PM andypugh: I have done a couple of rotating-nut designs, they are no harder than rotating screw really.
03:22 PM gloops: thanks andypugh, nice to know the history, quite a feat - building and writing
03:23 PM andypugh: This is my milling machine during assembly, rotating screw on Y and rotating nut on X https://photos.app.goo.gl/SImpBMS9y2zo20RE2
03:27 PM gloops: nice work
03:29 PM JT-Shop: what does the nut rotate on/in
03:29 PM andypugh: I discovered that iron castings are cheaper than blocks of aluminium.
03:30 PM XXCoder: andy and more stiff and heavy which is better for machining heavy stuff I guess
03:31 PM andypugh: JT-Shop: https://photos.app.goo.gl/3r7zCvdbrSmVTjfk1
03:31 PM JT-Shop: all you need is a foundry nearby...
03:31 PM andypugh: That’s not the actual design, but it is close.
03:32 PM JT-Shop: cool
03:32 PM JT-Shop: I need to finish my nest box camera
03:32 PM gloops: mine was not so good, i designed around chinese ball nut and various bits of thick walled tube i have laying around
03:33 PM andypugh: There is a pair of angular-contact ball bearings mounted inside the casting and then a U-shaped timing pulley. It’s all a bit elaborate and multiply coaxial to keep it short as space was tight.
03:34 PM gloops: would probably double critical speed of ballscrews compared to rotating the screw, as ive yet to hit the critical speed of rotating the screw theres no rush to make the nuts heh
03:39 PM gloops: various designs on the forum https://forum.linuxcnc.org/media/kunena/attachments/20660/spinning_nut.png
03:49 PM gloops: id say with a diy hexapod, rotating the screw presents the problem of having a rotating shaft connect to the platform, whatever means you devise to make that connection is another layer for backlash/wear
03:57 PM holzjunkie: JT-Shop: sorry i was still trying
03:58 PM holzjunkie: now i install debain 9 from these source https://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/current/i386/iso-cd/debian-9.4.0-i386-xfce-CD-1.iso
03:59 PM holzjunkie: i hope if it´s installed it will go further
04:02 PM holzjunkie: but now i´ll go to sleep till tomorow
04:02 PM holzjunkie: g8
04:09 PM CaptHindsight: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HQJQci2Me3I 4K 60fps Footage with Gauges - 6-way Wingsuit
04:13 PM Deejay: gn8
04:14 PM BeachBumPete: GN8 DEEJAY!!
04:32 PM gloops: what is a 'smart prison' and how does it work
05:57 PM BeachBumPete: Woohoo got my JEM style DIY kit guitar in the mail while I was gone on the trip ;)
06:04 PM gloops: never quite got round to learning the guitar
06:04 PM BeachBumPete: hehe me neither
06:04 PM BeachBumPete: I just bought a cheap strat to practice on while I build this thing
06:05 PM XXCoder: fun
06:06 PM XXCoder: downstairs is nicely textured
06:06 PM XXCoder: and monday painted and later floor. then finally framing
06:07 PM gloops: im curious what 'spackle' is
06:08 PM XXCoder: oh essentally white mud to smooth drywall
06:08 PM hazzy-dev: Spackle is like filler putty
06:09 PM gloops: ahh ok
06:16 PM XXCoder: hazzy-dev: talking about spackle.. last owner used it to smooth... floor.
06:17 PM XXCoder: we are gring that area off now, to make it nearer to level and evenually err what he called it.. float concerete?
06:17 PM gloops: screed?
06:23 PM BeachBumPete: https://imgur.com/a/nOaKU
06:25 PM XXCoder: looks 75% done
06:25 PM BeachBumPete: hehe I wish
06:25 PM BeachBumPete: there is LOTS of work to be done before she will be singing
06:26 PM BeachBumPete: but it does appear that way doesn't it
06:26 PM XXCoder: yeah but same time I havent even heard any music so yeah im one to talk about it! lol
06:30 PM BeachBumPete: Lots of work to do just to get the body finished, then there is leveling and dressing the frets, cleaning up the pick guard shape, oil finishing the neck, TONS of sanding on the body itself and then polishing to a high shine, then it is install all the components and get them setup properly, replace any that I want to upgrade, setup the neck and dr
06:30 PM BeachBumPete: ill for the screws, Setup the Floyd Rose tremolo, set the intonation etc. etc. etc. It has a long way to go really. But I am pretty pleased with how the kit looks. I was VERY surprised to see the tiger stripe maple bookmatched top veneer on it the description of the kit said NOTHING about that.
06:32 PM XXCoder: well it does look great
06:32 PM XXCoder: so, anyone want my mini mill? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vytvQW01OUs
06:32 PM BeachBumPete: Now If I can just get my CAD CAM setup done on the JEM body I am going to machine myself I will have two beautiful guitars at some point.
06:34 PM BeachBumPete: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1311.R1.TR4.TRC1.A0.H1.XIbanez+JEM+p.TRS0&_nkw=ibanez+jem+pickguard&_sacat=0 Lots of nice pick guards for this body on fleabay.
06:57 PM jdh: BeachBumPete: what's the other one?
06:57 PM BeachBumPete: what other one?
06:58 PM jdh: you will have two beautiful guitars. or are you making two?
06:58 PM BeachBumPete: yeah I am making two, I am also going to redo the finish on my cheap strat copy I just bought once one of the other two is usable.
07:21 PM tiwake: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xuyF6JvWFcw
07:21 PM tiwake: skip forward a little ways, they start talking about the equipment
07:21 PM tiwake: freaking cool snot
07:24 PM tiwake: 4 person crew, spits out 18 casings/second
09:24 PM CaptHindsight: what is the lowest cost combo for 3-axis of closed loop steppers (Step $ Dir) with quadrature encoders?
09:25 PM XXCoder: $0 with 5 finger discount
09:27 PM Tom_L: sent an avr programmer to somebody making them once.. that's about all i can tell you about em
09:27 PM Tom_L: several actually
09:28 PM Tom_L: https://www.omc-stepperonline.com/closed-loop-stepper-motor
09:28 PM Tom_L: not them
09:30 PM XXCoder: prices seem reasonable
09:32 PM CaptHindsight: oh I left out Mesa
09:34 PM CaptHindsight: maybe LPT card and 7i52 or 7i85
09:36 PM CaptHindsight: and 7i92 are $89
09:36 PM Tom_L: 7i90
09:36 PM Tom_L: is what i use
09:36 PM CaptHindsight: I have tons of steppers and linear glass scales
09:37 PM Tom_L: can't beat it for 72 io
09:38 PM Tom_L: pp spi and rs422 interface
09:40 PM CaptHindsight: LPT for the steppers and an 4 channel encoder input board would be nice
09:43 PM CaptHindsight: http://pico-systems.com/osc2.5/catalog/product_info.php?cPath=1&products_id=3 not the lowest cost
09:44 PM Tecan: http://www.netpipe.ca/zen/albums/Electronics/helping-hands-vice.jpg
09:47 PM Tom_L: i've never used a pico board
09:48 PM Tom_L: the 7i90 should be able to get you both
09:48 PM Tom_L: i added a 7i47s for differential and 's' for spindle
09:50 PM Tom_L: not sure you can get 4 steppers from that but x2 would easy
09:52 PM CaptHindsight: 7I47S is a 12 input, 8 output RS-422 interface for Mesa's Anything I/O
09:53 PM Tom_L: i've got all my steppers and 2 encoders on one
09:53 PM Tom_L: spindle and mpg
09:53 PM CaptHindsight: so the inputs are fast enough for encoders?
09:53 PM Tom_L: ask da master...
09:54 PM Tom_L: afik they should be
09:54 PM Tom_L: my spindle does fine at 5k
09:54 PM Tom_L: steppers don't spin that fast anyway
09:55 PM CaptHindsight: lets see 1um encoders moving at few cm/sec
09:55 PM Tom_L: i'd ask pcw
09:56 PM CaptHindsight: MAXIMUM DATA RATE 10MBIT/S
09:57 PM Tom_L: i'm not exactly sure how it worked but the old 68332 had quadrature and after it reached a certain point i think it started reading the index pulse
09:58 PM CaptHindsight: http://store.mesanet.com and you tell me about the 7i47s
09:58 PM CaptHindsight: where is it hidden when you search for daughter cards?
09:59 PM Tom_L: no clue
09:59 PM Tom_L: http://store.mesanet.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=69_63
09:59 PM Tom_L: there
09:59 PM CaptHindsight: oh found it, they are all not in numerical order
10:00 PM Tom_L: plain 47 gives you like 3 more io
10:00 PM CaptHindsight: I'm sorry but I have a hard time finding things on that site
10:00 PM Tom_L: instead of the "S" option
10:00 PM Tom_L: so do i sometimes
10:00 PM CaptHindsight: I have most of the data sheets downloaded
10:01 PM Tom_L: i don't think you'll find a cheaper stepper setup but i'm not sure about the encoder feedback
10:01 PM Tom_L: if it's fast enough for glass scales
10:02 PM CaptHindsight: 7i34, next line, 7i76, 7i96, 7i37 grr
10:02 PM Tom_L: http://store.mesanet.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=69_63&product_id=98
10:02 PM CaptHindsight: please just put them in numerical order
10:02 PM Tom_L: http://store.mesanet.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=69_63&product_id=99
10:03 PM CaptHindsight: ahh the sort button
10:03 PM CaptHindsight: default puts them is some odd order
10:04 PM Tom_L: there's a sort button??
10:04 PM Tom_L: new to me
10:04 PM CaptHindsight: yeah just noticed it right near the top of the page, right above all the cards
10:04 PM CaptHindsight: Sort By:
10:05 PM Tom_L: hah i've seen that too
10:05 PM Tom_L: never crossed my mind
10:05 PM CaptHindsight: heh
10:05 PM CaptHindsight: probably has been there for years :)
10:05 PM CaptHindsight: I think they revamped the store in the last year or so
10:06 PM Tom_L: they did
10:06 PM CaptHindsight: JT's store is easy to navigate
10:06 PM Tom_L: i don't think he carries everything though
10:06 PM Tom_L: all the popular stuff
10:06 PM CaptHindsight: yeah a subset
10:06 PM CaptHindsight: most of the popular cards
10:07 PM CaptHindsight: he's close enough to me that priority is sometimes next day
10:07 PM Tom_L: he's a stone throw away from me
10:08 PM Tom_L: pretty sure i've got a spare set of those
10:09 PM Tom_L: not the s but the 7i47
10:10 PM CaptHindsight: does he have anything for analog encoders 1V pp?
10:11 PM Tom_L: prior to the 90 i had a 7i43 which has less io and costs more
10:11 PM Tom_L: i don't know about that
10:11 PM Roguish: hah. got you guys... PCW is only about 15 miles from me !!!
10:12 PM XXCoder: hopefully not still a stone's throw away ;)
10:12 PM Tom_L: probably just as well... i'd be broke by now
10:15 PM Tom_L: diggin thru the cards i found some fuses i'd been looking for and already replaced :)
10:15 PM XXCoder: you have box of mesa cards?
10:16 PM XXCoder: dang
10:16 PM Tom_L: a few
10:16 PM Tecan: http://www.netpipe.ca/zen/Electronics/Projects/dlna.png << got this far last night, still havnt been able to connect to airplay yet
10:17 PM XXCoder: netpipe images
10:22 PM CaptHindsight: sin cos encoders are getting old but I can't find any low cost adapters
10:22 PM Tom_L: make one with an arm / avr
10:23 PM CaptHindsight: trying to avoid that
10:23 PM Tom_L: http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/tidua05a/tidua05a.pdf
10:24 PM BeachBumPete: evening folks :)
10:24 PM Tom_L: http://www.ti.com/tool/TIDA-00176
10:24 PM Tom_L: design reference board there
10:24 PM CaptHindsight: yes, well aware
10:24 PM roycroft: hey pete
10:24 PM Tom_L: figured
10:24 PM roycroft: how was your trip?
10:24 PM CaptHindsight: there used to be low cost adapters
10:24 PM BeachBumPete: It was honestly kinda miserable but successful ;)
10:25 PM Tom_L: any fun business?
10:25 PM roycroft: i remember you were stuck in slc for a while
10:25 PM BeachBumPete: yeah like 8.5 hours
10:25 PM roycroft: hopefully it got better once you got ut of there
10:25 PM roycroft: out
10:25 PM BeachBumPete: not really LOL
10:25 PM roycroft: bummer
10:25 PM BeachBumPete: lots of running around catching taxis and flights with little to no sleep
10:26 PM BeachBumPete: best part was the hotel in Fredrickstown MO where I got some sleep and the salesman I met with bought me a steak dinner hehe
10:26 PM roycroft: bend is such an awesome place it would have been nice to be able to spend a little time there relaxing, instead of running around
10:26 PM BeachBumPete: it LOOKED like a nice place
10:26 PM BeachBumPete: I got some nice pictures of the mountains
10:27 PM BeachBumPete: but for the most part when I was not looking at the machine I was running around trying to find hotels and transportation I scheduled.
10:27 PM roycroft: i hiked up on the south sister once, and made a nice panorama picture at the base of the mountain
10:29 PM roycroft: i can't find it right now to save my life though
10:29 PM BeachBumPete: hang on I will post em
10:31 PM CaptHindsight: $475 https://www.enclosureclimatecontrol.com/motrona-si251-sine-cosine-interpolator-for-sine-cosine-encoders/
10:32 PM Tom_L: better grab all 4 :)
10:34 PM CaptHindsight: heh, I might have to make boards
10:34 PM CaptHindsight: the chips are ~$12ea
10:35 PM CaptHindsight: somebody must make a lower cost board
10:36 PM XXCoder: im sure theres some on aliexpress or something lol
10:36 PM Tom_L: nothing comes up
10:37 PM CaptHindsight: I can buy the whole Chinese scale with converter for $120
10:37 PM CaptHindsight: they must have a Chinese ASIC solution for $5
10:37 PM XXCoder: you can buy a whole cnc roputer and everything for 2 of those
10:39 PM Tom_L: https://us-shop.ichaus.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=iC%2Dtool+SC
10:40 PM CaptHindsight: Price: $284.20 each saw that

10:41 PM Tom_L: does that have the adapter?
10:42 PM CaptHindsight: cheaper to but their scale and take out the adapter
10:42 PM CaptHindsight: but/buy
10:42 PM CaptHindsight: I should get one to take apart
10:43 PM Tom_L: https://discourse.odriverobotics.com/t/sin-cos-linear-encoder-interface/86
10:43 PM Tom_L: the article that mentioned it
10:44 PM Tom_L: https://www.motrona.com/en/products/signal-converters/interface-for-sincos-encoder.html
10:45 PM Tom_L: dunno about cost
10:45 PM CaptHindsight: $$$

10:50 PM BeachBumPete: some of the pics I took in Bend, Oregon
10:52 PM roycroft: this is a great time of year to visit
10:52 PM roycroft: the weather is getting nicer, but there is still plenty of snow in the mountains
10:52 PM BeachBumPete: yeah it was actually nice weather
10:52 PM BeachBumPete: not too cold
10:52 PM BeachBumPete: I was happy to be back in Florida tho ;)
10:53 PM Tom_L: not enough gators in oregon?
10:53 PM roycroft: it gets a lot hotter than florida in bend in the summer
10:53 PM BeachBumPete: I do wish I had more time there
10:53 PM CaptHindsight: Tom_L: it looks like it's lower cost to just use a Chinese glass scale that try to adapt older US good ones if..
10:53 PM roycroft: but no humidity
10:53 PM CaptHindsight: the Chinese versions actually work
10:53 PM Tom_L: figures
10:53 PM BeachBumPete: Xpedia screwed me on that trip never use them again
10:56 PM BeachBumPete: I stayed at that Shilo Inn there and while their advertisement looked amazing and the outside appearance was beautiful the room was dated and worn. Not horrible or anything but I expected more.
10:57 PM CaptHindsight: I have a bunch of glass scales that even used sell for hundreds
10:57 PM Tom_L: no adapters, not worth much
10:59 PM CaptHindsight: they are those that want US made
10:59 PM Tom_L: probably for replacements?

11:08 PM BeachBumPete: well Gn8
11:23 PM CaptHindsight: was going to go out, too late now
