01:30 AM RyanS: arggh why do hardware stores insist on metric numbering already confusing BSP nominal sizes 5mm below their actual thread size!
02:13 AM IchGucksLive: Good morning from Germany
02:16 AM XXCoder: good night from wet tacoma
02:16 AM XXCoder: whats up
02:25 AM IchGucksLive: RyanS: ?
02:28 AM IchGucksLive: XXCoder: can yo look in the timeline if RyanS has left
02:28 AM XXCoder: I can autocomplete his nick no hes still here
02:30 AM Deejay: moin
02:30 AM IchGucksLive: XXCoder: do you know if he reds the logs
02:30 AM XXCoder: dunno
02:30 AM IchGucksLive: moin to germany
02:33 AM Deejay: +a
02:33 AM IchGucksLive: RyanS: SOME Calculationa on your numbers
02:33 AM IchGucksLive: GIVEN NUMBERS Speed> 10m/min, Gearing 5:1 ,Accuracity < 0,05
02:34 AM IchGucksLive: Hybrid Stepeprs HSS86 8Nm
02:34 AM Deejay: dont understand, too many typos
02:34 AM IchGucksLive: RyanS: 2000Step/rev
02:34 AM IchGucksLive: RyanS: Motor REV <=130U/min
02:35 AM IchGucksLive: RyanS: CALC Freq 130*2000 = 260000S/min /60sec ~5khz ;-)
02:35 AM IchGucksLive: RyanS: Calc Speed 260000 *0,05 =13000mm/min >10m/min ;-)
02:35 AM IchGucksLive: CALC Rack Pinion 2000*5 =10000 T5*Z20 =100mm =D0 / Acuracity 0,01 = 10000 ;-)
02:36 AM IchGucksLive: RyanS: so Rack pinion metric T5 with Z20 Teeth is your best issiue to go
02:36 AM IchGucksLive: hi zancas
02:37 AM archivist: his comment is not answered by that reply
02:37 AM IchGucksLive: archivist: Thanks he might read the log
02:37 AM IchGucksLive: gloops: morning
02:38 AM gloops: morning Ichs
02:38 AM zancas: Hiya IchGucksLive.
02:43 AM IchGucksLive: RyanS: calculating Costs Rack pinion From maedler.de Germany 3x T5 2meters a'90Euro + 3x Z20 Rackpinion gearweehl a 16euros = 320Euros
02:44 AM IchGucksLive: till later Folks
02:45 AM zancas: I was just poking around pycam, and wondered if this would be a good place to chat about it?
02:48 AM archivist: zancas monitor #cam as well, although that channel is very quiet
02:48 AM zancas: Thanks.
02:53 AM archivist: zancas, seb (in both channels) is on US time so fast asleep now
02:55 AM zancas: K thanks.
02:56 AM archivist: the other main dev is only in here by the look of it
03:03 AM gloops: nice japanese screw going on ebay
03:03 AM gloops: 40 quid, i bet that isnt c7
03:04 AM XXCoder: so japense porn on sale there ;)
03:04 AM archivist: c7 that is rattling fit
03:04 AM archivist: bigger number worse
03:05 AM archivist: there is one bunch who claim there "mill" is good because it use c6
03:06 AM gloops: yes i think this could be a tighter screw than c7
03:06 AM gloops: not the chino stuff
03:07 AM archivist: a used one http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CNC-router-Quality-UK-NOT-from-China-/282669176290
03:07 AM gloops: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BALL-SCREW-LINEAR-BEARING-820mm-x-15mm-/292294497000?
03:08 AM gloops: this is used, no good to me anyway
03:08 AM XXCoder: very china-like router "not from china"
03:08 AM gloops: 1800 quid..
03:08 AM archivist: via Devon in the UK
03:09 AM archivist: they make claims of .01mm
03:09 AM gloops: the electronics and motors - 150, probaly 250 the ally
03:10 AM gloops: v carve software is probably the most expensive item
03:10 AM gloops: still, buy that and plug it in, youre away
03:11 AM gloops: for very light routing
03:12 AM archivist: that screw looks like a two start for fast traverse
03:13 AM archivist: helix at about 45 deg
03:13 AM gloops: yeah looks fast
03:14 AM gloops: probably worn out
03:16 AM gloops: code doesnt come up with anything
03:20 AM archivist: sometimes the code is for a special for a machine maker, bit like the one I got a few years ago
03:21 AM archivist: 35mm dia screw, I think it is the knee screw off a big mill
03:23 AM gloops: could be off any kind of machine really, he is selling random equipment, well 40 with post, not bad for an 800mm screw with bearings and nut, even got the pulley, if it isnt shot
03:26 AM archivist: quite a few mobility parts so may have had a heavy or light use
03:27 AM gloops: ive seen a few say they are using the motors off scooters for cnc
03:29 AM gloops: the linear bushes are worth it
03:32 AM archivist: yup
03:46 AM gloops: this 2 motors 1 axis doesnt look simple
03:47 AM archivist: by the way I contacted the seller on those "mills" and got a reply stating they used c5
03:48 AM gloops: so your screw is c5 archivist?
03:49 AM archivist: no probably c1 or 2 as it is a real thomson
03:49 AM XXCoder: what you guys think of https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000H0ZDD2/
03:50 AM archivist: a bit petite!
03:50 AM MarcelineVQ: I'd only go for a big floor model
03:50 AM gloops: better off with pot bellied stove
03:50 AM MarcelineVQ: if the little one works well you'll be emptying it constantly, so chances are it doesn't work well
03:50 AM archivist: that looks like a peltier device avoid
03:51 AM archivist: emptying constantly means it does work!
03:51 AM XXCoder: whats best for 10'x10' room
03:51 AM archivist: add a pipe to drain
03:51 AM MarcelineVQ: yes, and it's pretty unlikely you will be emptying it constantly
03:51 AM XXCoder: archivist: first reviewer modified tank to drain into milk gallon lol
03:51 AM archivist: I have a larger compressor type
03:52 AM XXCoder: house has no centeral air system and my room is getting excessively humid :( got much worse when I bought in wet mail
03:52 AM MarcelineVQ: if you get it let me know how it works though XXCoder, we've had big refrigerator-type ones for a long time
03:52 AM XXCoder: it stayed wet for 2 days
03:52 AM archivist: not been switched on in years though
03:52 AM XXCoder: baaad
03:53 AM archivist: I have one in the garage to throw away too
03:53 AM archivist: currently used as wheels for a press :)
03:53 AM XXCoder: lol
03:54 AM MarcelineVQ: also remember that only bad reviews tell you how good the product really is. once you weed out the idiots you get cold hard truth
03:54 AM XXCoder: yep
03:54 AM XXCoder: it also shows when product quality went to shit
03:55 AM XXCoder: sometimes awesome product dont get made anymore and china makes em and its shit
03:55 AM XXCoder: you can see it when review is very different between before and after date
03:56 AM archivist: gloops, http://www.designworldonline.com/what-to-look-for-when-choosing-a-precision-ball-screw/
03:56 AM archivist: c5 is the worst on that table
03:59 AM XXCoder: just had idea if I ever need small dehumidifer for restroom
04:00 AM XXCoder: just modify tank to have greedy cup style drain
04:00 AM XXCoder: and have short hose into sink
04:00 AM XXCoder: that way it drains itself and it dont drain tiny amount of water that would return to air anyway
04:01 AM gloops: yes you see people on the facebook forums claiming their wood router is accurate to .001mm
04:01 AM XXCoder: lol
04:01 AM gloops: i doubt most of them have any way of determining that
04:02 AM archivist: impossible dreams
04:02 AM XXCoder: I wonder if my router can do 1mm precision :P
04:02 AM XXCoder: I never did measure its precision, only did stuff that didnt matter on that
04:02 AM gloops: because the screws they bought claim that, and the bearings and so on
04:02 AM MarcelineVQ: "I checked and the runout was nil" "did you check with a load?" "a what?"
04:02 AM XXCoder: precision dont stack up, it stacks down
04:03 AM archivist: many also use the microstepping value from their driver to claim a silly accuracy
04:03 AM XXCoder: a61 can measure .00001". it doesnt mean it have .00001" precision, just that it know where it is, very precisely. movements is not as close.
04:03 AM archivist: it is entertaining to try and measure something
04:04 AM gloops: these repeatability tests where you stick a dial gauge on one end of the axis, and run the gantry up to it, i mean, the same screw will always travel the same distance
04:05 AM archivist: I got a used ballscrew and put it on my machine then did http://www.archivist.info/cnc/screw_error/
04:06 AM XXCoder: you want .001mm precision? you need in least .0005mm precision sensors and good movement system
04:06 AM archivist: ew didnt think it was that long ago oct 2013
04:06 AM XXCoder: does even .001mm sensors exist
04:06 AM archivist: yes
04:06 AM XXCoder: .0001mm?
04:06 AM archivist: expensive ones
04:07 AM XXCoder: not surpised, move . to left also moves price . to right
04:07 AM archivist: laser interferometer can do silly accuracy and resolution
04:08 AM archivist: I have an education grade interferometer, and used a LED laser and got visible rings
04:08 AM XXCoder: rings?
04:09 AM archivist: http://web.physics.ucsb.edu/~lecturedemonstrations/Composer/Pages/84.30.html top right
04:10 AM archivist: I have a version of that same device
04:11 AM archivist: the idea is to count the rings as they move
04:11 AM archivist: then one is counting wavelengths
04:13 AM XXCoder: interesting
04:13 AM XXCoder: very precise I guess
04:13 AM XXCoder: I guess higher frequance the better?
04:14 AM archivist: just have to keep in range of your sensor
04:15 AM archivist: the air (temperature and currents) start to become a problem
04:20 AM XXCoder: interesting
04:20 AM XXCoder: semi-sealed area for those would work?
04:21 AM archivist: probably helps
04:28 AM XXCoder: hm
04:28 AM XXCoder: most air compressor types is for whole house
04:28 AM XXCoder: o usually couple hundred bucks
04:29 AM archivist: there are some smaller
04:30 AM archivist: get a used one
04:30 AM XXCoder: looked at criaglist nothing, checking ebay now
04:31 AM XXCoder: lol https://www.ebay.com/itm/Portable-Home-Drying-Moisture-Absorber-Reusable-Damp-Moisture-Dehumidifiers-/162598255070?hash=item25db9c79de:g:hyAAAOSwuVdZcH82
04:38 AM XXCoder: archivist: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00C2BYE2A/ref=psdc_9425949011_t3_B073J2WXVQ?th=1 what ya think
04:40 AM archivist: looks reasonable
04:41 AM XXCoder: yeah
04:41 AM XXCoder: saw black and decker one. reviews is nightmare
04:41 AM XXCoder: https://www.amazon.com/BLACK-DECKER-BDT50WT-Portable-Dehumidifier/product-reviews/B01DLPV15S/
04:45 AM XXCoder: anyway other one seems decent enough and quite a overkill :P
04:48 AM archivist: you can over do it and too dry feels odd, so just make sure they have an adjuster for humidity
04:48 AM XXCoder: my finances is bit iffy since move (I spent couple thousand bucks on move)
04:49 AM XXCoder: so probably have to buy small one for now
04:51 AM archivist: the amazon one has it "Adjustable Humidistat"
04:51 AM XXCoder: https://www.amazon.com/Afloia-Dehumidifier-Bedroom-Dehumidifiers-Bathroom/product-reviews/B071K61JLW/
04:51 AM XXCoder: that one seems good but then all 5 star seems adverts
04:51 AM XXCoder: except a few
04:59 AM jthornton: morning
04:59 AM XXCoder: hey jt
05:13 AM jthornton: got my rpi python code to run all night and do a task every minute
05:16 AM XXCoder: worked great eh
05:18 AM jthornton: yea but the are no docs for the python schedule module except the auto generated ones that only a geek programmer could understand lol
05:18 AM jthornton: https://schedule.readthedocs.io/en/stable/api.html#classes
05:20 AM XXCoder: sometimes those work fijne
05:20 AM XXCoder: sometimes its impossible to figure out
05:20 AM XXCoder: it took me long while to get nearest point code library to work
05:22 AM XXCoder: i never completed that project :(
05:22 AM XXCoder: it was to update 3d model convert program
05:22 AM jthornton: I need to get this project going quick
05:23 AM XXCoder: nearest point was to really compress 3d model so it uses much fewer points
05:24 AM XXCoder: archivist: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_uIOKfv710
05:25 AM archivist: cannot see yt on this box
05:26 AM XXCoder: oh it talks about merging neteron stars and gravity sensor
05:26 AM XXCoder: it uses light to detect that
06:01 AM XXCoder: microsoft BOB is back on windows 10!
06:41 AM * jthornton wonders why time is so hard to deal with in python
06:46 AM archivist: wrong language? :)
06:46 AM archivist: time was never easy in any language
06:47 AM archivist: there have been so many stupid ideas like starting in 1970
06:50 AM archivist: and because time is infinite, lazy humans have shortened it in far too many ways
07:21 AM malcom2073: Time is a mess
07:23 AM jthornton: finally found a simple answer for getting the time since midnight lol
07:24 AM jthornton: today = datetime.date.today()
07:24 AM jthornton: seconds_since_midnight = time.time() - time.mktime(today.timetuple())
07:25 AM SpeedEvil: You don't care about daylight savings time I assume?
07:26 AM jthornton: I don't care about time itself just sunrise and sunset times
07:28 AM archivist: try old japan time where the hour length varied depending on amount of daylight :)
08:14 AM IchGucksLive: hi all from rainy Germany
08:15 AM IchGucksLive: rebecca_: ?
08:15 AM jthornton: we are getting rain starting tonight and through monday
08:16 AM gloops: forecast rain here but none yet, plenty of wind though
08:16 AM IchGucksLive: its so dry here bearly needed but the clod coudt be far beond
08:16 AM IchGucksLive: gloops: i did a video of the foam cut
08:17 AM IchGucksLive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xv7X6-E3wjY
08:18 AM gloops: impressive Ichs, when do you get time to do all this??
08:18 AM IchGucksLive: im living lonly
08:18 AM IchGucksLive: and the 24Day is full of cnc
08:19 AM IchGucksLive: pencionier
08:19 AM IchGucksLive: g-code by hand ofcause
08:20 AM gloops: not a bad way to live!
08:20 AM IchGucksLive: < fully smiles
08:22 AM IchGucksLive: i need to close our new Naibours from Romania are painting the house in Rain BUT HOW you realy think off moving the frame 2men holding the Floor clener withh color stick
08:22 AM IchGucksLive: realy no joke
08:22 AM IchGucksLive: later
08:26 AM gloops: now then, to order some bearings, for rotating ballnut, 2 tapered roller bearings each nut, think thats right?
08:27 AM archivist: taper rollers a bit ott for that
08:27 AM gloops: fitted back to back opposite directions, will cover radial and axial motion?
08:27 AM gloops: no good archivist?
08:27 AM archivist: too good
08:28 AM archivist: but less able to keep the crap out
08:28 AM gloops: pretty cheap, half the price of angular contact bearing
08:28 AM archivist: deep groove good enough probably
08:28 AM gloops: well, some weight being thrown about quick
08:28 AM archivist: can get fully sealed then
08:29 AM gloops: true yes
08:29 AM archivist: compromises :)
08:30 AM archivist: the axial forces of deep groove is in the data
08:30 AM gloops: deep groove is probably about the same as the nut anyway
08:30 AM gloops: same thing
08:33 AM archivist: think of motors, they use deep groove and can run for years vertical
08:34 AM gloops: well the bearing life isnt such an issue, if they need changing every 6 month thats not a big thing, i dont want to wear the nut out though with using the wrong bearings
08:51 AM archivist: I imagine grit from the machining process is going to be far worse wear source than your bearing choice
08:53 AM gloops: and my skew wiff turning lol
11:12 AM JT-Shop: phipli: http://gnipsel.com/images/chip/Chip-2.jpg
11:25 AM Munt: Appropriate name for the channel.
11:54 AM IchGucksLive: hi All
11:55 AM IchGucksLive: hi Munt: why not that name
11:56 AM IchGucksLive: rebecca_: ?
11:57 AM MarcelineVQ: IchGucksLive: heya
11:58 AM IchGucksLive: MarcelineVQ: did you see the yideo on how to cut foam on minimill i made today
11:58 AM Munt: IchGucksLive : I approve of the name and draw connotations to the chips from a CNC.
11:58 AM MarcelineVQ: haha, I was in the middle of typing something about it and you asked
11:59 AM MarcelineVQ: it's a fun video, how did you determine that's the hotwire shape you wanted to make those cuts?
11:59 AM IchGucksLive: 40hits in 3hr that is cool for me
11:59 AM IchGucksLive: the db1205 now passed the 10000maerk
12:00 PM IchGucksLive: Munt: im in germany WHAT mashine do you use
12:00 PM Munt: Currently trying to buy my first machine.
12:03 PM IchGucksLive: Munt: ^why not building one
12:03 PM IchGucksLive: cheeper better easy
12:03 PM Munt: Not smart enough yet.
12:04 PM gloops_: buy!?
12:04 PM IchGucksLive: Where in the world are you
12:04 PM Munt: EU
12:04 PM IchGucksLive: im in germany
12:04 PM IchGucksLive: so you got all access to get a real cool one
12:04 PM Munt: nice
12:05 PM IchGucksLive: Munt: so what is the mashine going to be for
12:05 PM gloops_: all you need - angle grinder, drill, 100 amp arc welder
12:05 PM IchGucksLive: gloops_: less then that
12:05 PM Munt: Aluminium and wood. (to be honest, anything it can take! i want to learn)
12:06 PM IchGucksLive: Munt: my youtube on HOW to https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmwhCL92ZQRSVqFe3jGwJSQ/videos
12:06 PM Munt: Thanks IchGucksLive !
12:06 PM IchGucksLive: Munt: you got a expected size
12:07 PM Munt: I was aiming at around 6090 when buying one.
12:07 PM IchGucksLive: homemade from Baumarkt http://heimwerkermarkt-tretter.de/holzcnc.jpg
12:08 PM IchGucksLive: Munt: expected max budget
12:08 PM Munt: ~€3000
12:09 PM IchGucksLive: this will fit a real nice mashine
12:09 PM MarcelineVQ: oh my, you can build quite a setup for 3k
12:09 PM gloops_: is that a typo? 3000 haha
12:09 PM Munt: nice machine IchGucksLive
12:09 PM Munt: I am not particularly good with my hands ... I'm decent with a computer though
12:09 PM IchGucksLive: noone of us here
12:10 PM IchGucksLive: Munt: look at the 4axis on channel
12:10 PM gloops_: well, if 3k is no problem, you pay your money you take your choice
12:10 PM Munt: I got by, by the skin of my teeth upgrading my 3d printer
12:10 PM IchGucksLive: its just fitting together
12:11 PM IchGucksLive: 3k will fit a HIWIN,HSS86,ALUframe and a 2,2vfd
12:11 PM Munt: I watched this old tony making one. humbled me considerably
12:11 PM IchGucksLive: all at 10m/min on mesa
12:12 PM IchGucksLive: Munt: elektronic cabinett http://heimwerkermarkt-tretter.de/4A_cab.jpg
12:12 PM Munt: tidy job
12:13 PM IchGucksLive: this is tight http://heimwerkermarkt-tretter.de/3achs_elek
12:13 PM gloops_: im going to building a new one soon, cutting area approx 1150mm x 850mm, i reckon all the essential electronics screws motors and such cost about £550
12:14 PM Munt: gloops : what about the gantry and bed etc ?
12:14 PM gloops_: for 1k i could get substantial ally for the framework, but im using steel
12:14 PM gloops_: total of 1k
12:14 PM IchGucksLive: gloops_: good welding
12:15 PM IchGucksLive: gloops_: the 1350x1350 set
12:15 PM Munt: I've tried to learn on a 60A arc welder ... but I'm not so good yet
12:15 PM IchGucksLive: sbr16
12:15 PM gloops_: yes some of that Ichs
12:16 PM gloops_: 16 will be ok..fingers crossed
12:16 PM IchGucksLive: Munt: on your budget get the sorotec one its all in at 2,5k
12:16 PM Munt: Would you mind linking me it ?
12:16 PM IchGucksLive: https://www.sorotec.de/shop/CNC-Portalfraesen/
12:17 PM IchGucksLive: dont take his CAD use LCNC
12:17 PM IchGucksLive: Munt: the SIEG xl4 CNC is at 3200 take price
12:17 PM MarcelineVQ: I've got this big old welder I'm not sure how to get rid of, it's got a pin and sleeve connector for power and no electrode cables, so I can't even check if it still works, 230v @ 66amps, completely inappropriate for a house :(
12:17 PM IchGucksLive: this gives you steel but no workspace
12:18 PM IchGucksLive: MarcelineVQ: call the firer engine wile you plug
12:18 PM MarcelineVQ: IchGucksLive: no doubt
12:19 PM gloops_: probably get some nice black lines along the walls where cables have got hot
12:19 PM IchGucksLive: Munt: the SIEG shop https://www.paulimot.de/
12:20 PM MarcelineVQ: I'd rather have a cheap little shielded gas mig, or even flux core if I had to, that stuff is messy as hell though
12:20 PM IchGucksLive: gloops_: in UK i thee also 2.5mmsqare standard
12:21 PM gloops_: already took my cash - but not shipped yet, 2 weeks
12:21 PM MarcelineVQ: gloops_: that's the same story for my motors I ordered, I think I got too good a deal and they want me to cancel hehe
12:22 PM Munt: I don't see the one you mean IchGucksLive
12:22 PM gloops_: Marcel possibly yes, ive had a similar thing before - but the seller has relisted the same ad for those screws at the same price so i dont know
12:23 PM gloops_: maybe just hasnt got any and cant get them again
12:24 PM IchGucksLive: Munt: https://www.sorotec.de/shop/Portalfraesen-Bausatz-Basic-Line-1005.html
12:24 PM Munt: http://picpaste.com/pics/X0WyNhIN.1508604777.jpg is the one I was looking at
12:24 PM MarcelineVQ: could be
12:24 PM MarcelineVQ: Munt: fancy
12:25 PM Munt: negotiating on it on monday
12:25 PM MarcelineVQ: Not so sure about those wheels, prefer solid legs that have a pedal that engages a wheel for moving
12:25 PM MarcelineVQ: Easy to change later though
12:25 PM IchGucksLive: Munt: is the pic from X-ccn in china
12:25 PM Munt: MarcelineVQ : I may bolt it to the ground if I get it
12:26 PM Munt: IchGucksLive : It's from Alibaba yes
12:26 PM MarcelineVQ: Munt: It's an option, permanent placement is a bit scary though, I sure move things a lot at least
12:27 PM Munt: I'm de-hoarding my garage at the moment to make a nice workshop instead of a hoard.
12:27 PM IchGucksLive: Munt: you woudt get a 10times better and 100times more reliable on self build
12:28 PM IchGucksLive: there are c7 ballscrews in only 24V at 2.5 Nm
12:28 PM Munt: My hands produce spice racks akin to Homer Simpsons
12:29 PM MarcelineVQ: Munt: that just means they have character
12:29 PM IchGucksLive: Munt: did you already order this mashine
12:29 PM Munt: lol
12:29 PM gloops_: Munt we are breaking the 600 ipm barrier in here haha
12:29 PM IchGucksLive: gloops_: the 8Nm Hss will speed the cnc near light
12:29 PM Munt: Maybe the local machine shop can create me a frame and gantry
12:30 PM gloops_: Ichs on the list yes
12:30 PM IchGucksLive: Munt: why gantry
12:30 PM IchGucksLive: Bridge not gantry
12:31 PM Munt: I am not familar with much CNC terminology at this point
12:31 PM gloops_: i dont think i would buy a machine without being able to look at it, feel it etc
12:31 PM IchGucksLive: we here use up to 800mm Y axis a bridge so it gets only one drive
12:32 PM IchGucksLive: gantry means 2 drives at one axis one left one right
12:32 PM IchGucksLive: gloops_: 10000 go for the on seen every wek
12:33 PM IchGucksLive: NOT seen
12:33 PM gloops_: true
12:33 PM Munt: They are expense here
12:33 PM Munt: expensive*
12:33 PM IchGucksLive: Munt: NO
12:33 PM IchGucksLive: ones more NO
12:33 PM IchGucksLive: you get the better mashine
12:34 PM IchGucksLive: Real Hiwin insted of C7 Railings
12:34 PM IchGucksLive: Real C4 Mesired and straihten ballscrews
12:34 PM IchGucksLive: good mountings
12:35 PM IchGucksLive: Real VFD not Hyanyang fake
12:35 PM Munt: IchGucksLive : I appreciate what your saying. But I know my capabilities
12:35 PM IchGucksLive: up to you
12:35 PM IchGucksLive: on that budget spending WHY not a used Maho 600
12:36 PM Munt: I have no previous CNC experience or knowledge
12:36 PM IchGucksLive: even wioth heidenhain
12:37 PM IchGucksLive: if your garage can take 2T
12:38 PM IchGucksLive: your homebuild woudt have newest tachnologie and Ethrnet driving
12:39 PM IchGucksLive: with plenty of feathers
12:40 PM IchGucksLive: as alibaba only got one input to use free
12:41 PM IchGucksLive: gloops_: at that budget you can look for a ATC BK30
12:41 PM IchGucksLive: its 450Euroas more
12:42 PM Munt: maybe I can use my CNC to build a bigger CNC :p
12:43 PM IchGucksLive: < smiles
12:43 PM gloops_: maybe, if it ever arrives lol
12:43 PM Munt: gloops_ : that's the main worry
12:43 PM IchGucksLive: Munt: to get expirience Download the DVD and run in SIMMODE on a MS Pc
12:43 PM IchGucksLive: no need to install
12:43 PM IchGucksLive: Munt: the Software runs on the DVD
12:44 PM Munt: LinuxCNC ?
12:44 PM IchGucksLive: yes
12:44 PM IchGucksLive: you can even run yoiur mashine without installation
12:44 PM Munt: I want to use it to probe surfaces for engraving afterwards
12:44 PM IchGucksLive: Munt: why not imaging
12:45 PM gloops_: some of the feedback from a company i ordered from -
12:45 PM Munt: Different methods for different application I guess. I may use photogrammetry or some such technique depending on the situation.
12:45 PM gloops_: NEVER WORKED THAN THEY WOULD NOT RESPOND. Buyer: o***s ( 1557Red star icon for Feedback score between 1,000 to 4,999)
12:45 PM gloops_: During past month Feedback conversation
12:45 PM gloops_: TOP 7.5KW 10HP 34A 220V VARIABLE FREQUENCY DRIVE INVERTER VFD CNC (#311497986596)
12:46 PM IchGucksLive: Munt: you got a example of what surfaces we are talking
12:46 PM gloops_: Item wobbles gave $100 back. Why am i paying $268 for an item that does not work
12:46 PM Munt: Not yet. Sorry I have a job to complete for tomorrow working quite hard ATM
12:46 PM Munt: I apprecaite the ehlp a lot however !!!
12:46 PM Munt: advise*
12:47 PM IchGucksLive: Munt: we are here if you need help
12:47 PM MarcelineVQ: gloops_: do you order off alibaba at all?
12:47 PM Munt: Truly appreciated thanks for your time
12:49 PM gloops_: Marcel no only ebay, amazon odd time, had no problem until this one, its better to order from a local chinese stockist than go to china direct, i have concluded
12:49 PM IchGucksLive: fully agrees
12:49 PM IchGucksLive: stay local
12:50 PM IchGucksLive: i orderd a Hc-05 from china never arrived here
12:50 PM gloops_: tbh i am not waiting for this kit urgently, so im not that bothered, it is always a relief to actually receive something though
12:50 PM IchGucksLive: gloops_: times runs out as stored in Hamburg
12:50 PM IchGucksLive: Brexit
12:51 PM IchGucksLive: the channel will be dragged
12:51 PM gloops_: haha, yes brits - get all your cnc kit asap, the drawbridge is going up
12:52 PM gloops_: new rail link is going to china anyway, stuff will be here in 2 days
12:53 PM IchGucksLive: gloops_: its 90tonns every day in couston exchange germany
12:54 PM IchGucksLive: i think 3 trailers on the BAM
12:55 PM IchGucksLive: every package nneds to pass a scanner
12:55 PM gloops_: that means VAT
12:56 PM IchGucksLive: no 25Euros is free
12:56 PM IchGucksLive: but it has to be scanned
12:56 PM gloops_: look at this fine old item close to me - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Rotax-Pillar-drill/253218879893?
12:56 PM IchGucksLive: yes this woudt make you the woodmill
12:57 PM MarcelineVQ: 30 pounds wow
12:57 PM gloops_: hard to believe that frame was made for that little hand drill??
12:57 PM gloops_: i think this is an old mortising machine
12:57 PM IchGucksLive: some go SAVE
12:58 PM MarcelineVQ: you could restore that and probably find a buyer for 10x for the looks alone
12:58 PM gloops_: indeed yes, this is really a museum piece id say
12:58 PM gloops_: lovely little thing
12:59 PM IchGucksLive: im off hevy doenforce outside
12:59 PM MarcelineVQ: interesting, I wonder why the weather here reflects the weather where ich is so often
01:03 PM MarcelineVQ: gosh, I wish there was reasonable local supply, 13$ china motor is 60$ local, if you can find one at all.
01:05 PM MarcelineVQ: just in case, does anyone know a good supply for cnc in western canada?
01:06 PM gloops_: no idea, in europe you can actually find cheaper deals from locally registered chinese than from china itself
01:07 PM gloops_: they get round some duty rules and tax by locating here - same stuff
01:17 PM gregcnc: dang, had a airbarg sensor light in the van. bought non returnable sensors and found chewed wires.
01:18 PM MarcelineVQ: got one in stock now I guess :X
01:20 PM gregcnc: have now idea what ill do about the harness
01:21 PM Tom_itx: cut, add shrinkwrap, resolder and shrink
01:22 PM gregcnc: good idea for SRS?
01:22 PM Tom_itx: srs?
01:22 PM gregcnc: airbags
01:22 PM Tom_itx: i grew up without em. i could care less if mine work or not
01:23 PM Tom_itx: unless you wanna replace the whole harness
01:23 PM Tom_itx: that's what you're looking at
01:23 PM gloops_: MOT item here
01:23 PM gregcnc: https://www.reddit.com/r/gatekeeping/comments/6pmj1c/real_men_die_in_car_accidents/
01:24 PM gloops_: best way is to pull the clocks and take the warning light bulb out
01:24 PM gregcnc: i'm looking to make them functional not disable
01:24 PM Tom_itx: so do as i suggested
01:25 PM Tom_itx: pull the battery when you do
01:25 PM gregcnc: it's already in pieces, you can't get to those easily
01:25 PM Tom_itx: i'm sure
01:25 PM gregcnc: which i why I didn't know the harness was hosed
01:25 PM Tom_itx: cars aren't made to work on anymore
01:26 PM gloops_: i had a sensor go, the worst place, you had to strip all the interior of the drivers side to get it
01:26 PM gregcnc: in the interior? yaw sensor?
01:27 PM gloops_: for airbag yes
01:27 PM gloops_: they were position around the interior, under the dash
03:26 PM sync: gloops_: that will not pass here, as the self test when you key on would light it up
03:26 PM gloops_: with no bulb?
03:42 PM sync: yes
03:44 PM gloops_: i suppose an astute tester might spot that
03:45 PM gloops_: they generally just glance to see if any warning lights are on
03:45 PM sync: I would think every tester would find that
03:45 PM sync: I mean, if you get in the car it is immediately obvious
03:45 PM gloops_: i think youd be surprised
03:45 PM gloops_: lots of pages on how to remove bulbs - and tape over the bulb if it isnt easy to remove
03:47 PM * JT-Shop finally got the west fence T posts ready to install the missing fence and now it's going to rain for the next 3 days
03:50 PM MarcelineVQ: concreteing or just digging or pounding?
03:51 PM MarcelineVQ: asking because you can concrete in the rain if you don't care about the surface quality
03:53 PM gloops_: could foam them in
03:54 PM JT-Shop: most of them I just had to remove the field fence and barbed wire and straighten them up, the ones I had to drive I used a Hilti TE76 with an 18" concrete bit to prepare a hole
03:54 PM * JT-Shop lives in the ozark foothills (rocky rock with some clay binder
04:06 PM * JT-Shop learned today that there are two kinds of date and time objects: "naive" and "aware" and they don't mix lol
04:12 PM timpson78: line
04:23 PM gloops_: that hot wire foam cutter of Ichs looks fun to play with
04:31 PM Tom_itx: JT-Shop i'll give you some of ours if you like
04:36 PM Tom_itx is now known as Tom_L
04:36 PM Tom_L: the rain is wired to a door sensor today. the minute i try to go out and do something it pours
04:41 PM Deejay: gn8
04:46 PM BeachBumPete: Tom_L we've been getting TONS of rain here lately
04:47 PM Tom_L: what you been working on lately?
04:47 PM BeachBumPete: at work or in my own shop LOL
04:47 PM Tom_L: home work
04:47 PM BeachBumPete: prototyping another rail here and cutting the 3d Curvature out of the bottom using F360
04:48 PM BeachBumPete: then I had to do some PP mods
04:48 PM BeachBumPete: still kinda working on that
04:51 PM Tom_L: gettin F360 figured out now?
04:51 PM BeachBumPete: honestly it is very very good I think so far
04:52 PM Tom_L: if i had reason to, i'd probably give it a look
04:53 PM BeachBumPete: there is a lot of good tutorial videos for it now as well
04:53 PM JT-Shop: Tom_L: some of what?
04:53 PM Tom_L: rain
04:54 PM Tom_L: you want more right?
04:54 PM Tom_L: :)
04:54 PM JT-Shop: I have my own rain coming tonight lol
04:54 PM Tom_L: it's been teasing all day here
04:54 PM JT-Shop: I do have a python program that calculates sunrise and sunset and when to turn the light on and runs the check once a minute
04:55 PM Tom_L: nice
04:55 PM Tom_L: figure out daylight savings yet?
04:55 PM Tom_L: or are you going to try
04:55 PM JT-Shop: I think it automagicly accounts for DST
04:56 PM JT-Shop: it seems to be right lol
04:56 PM Tom_L: bonus
05:00 PM phipli: JT-Shop, how tame is Chip now?
05:01 PM JT-Shop: I can get withing a foot of him/her and he just sits still kinda like a possum does
05:01 PM JT-Shop: I've not seen him in a few days
05:01 PM JT-Shop: did you see his photo?
05:02 PM JT-Shop: phipli: I've given up on the nano and moved to a Rpi
05:13 PM phipli: JT-Shop, yeah - saw the photo :)
05:13 PM phipli: saw the new photos of your birds too :)
05:13 PM phipli: they look very happy
05:13 PM phipli: I've been playing with a little Orange Pi today
05:14 PM JT-Shop: I figured out the hard way if you enable stuff like 1wire it takes over some I/O pins
05:14 PM phipli: https://www.banggood.com/3-in-1-Orange-Pi-Zero-512MB-Development-Board-Expansion-Board-Black-Case-Kit-p-1135881.html
05:14 PM phipli: one of those
05:15 PM JT-Shop: http://paste.ubuntu.com/25788782/
05:15 PM JT-Shop: geeze $19
05:15 PM phipli: high or low?
05:16 PM phipli: there are cheaper boards, but I like that case.
05:17 PM phipli: https://www.banggood.com/Orange-Pi-Zero-H2-Quad-Core-Open-source-256MB-Development-Board-p-1109941.html
05:17 PM phipli: same board, but only 256mb of ram
05:17 PM phipli: and no case
05:18 PM JT-Shop: antenna for wifi?
05:18 PM phipli: yeah
05:18 PM JT-Shop: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01C6FFNY4
05:18 PM JT-Shop: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product
05:18 PM phipli: I'm currently running a VPN, a DNS IP tracker thing and the code that takes photos of our pigeon and uploads them on one, and it uses a total of 46.9M of ram :)
05:19 PM JT-Shop: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M27459S
05:19 PM JT-Shop: VPN?
05:19 PM phipli: Virtual Private Network
05:19 PM JT-Shop: ah
05:19 PM phipli: turn it on on my phone, and it connects home through an encrypted connection
05:20 PM JT-Shop: that pastebin is my code to sort out sunrise/sunset and when to turn the lights on
05:20 PM phipli: lets me access things on my LAN
05:20 PM JT-Shop: nice
05:20 PM phipli: your device just acts like it is at home - quite handy
05:20 PM phipli: I have a python project to start
05:21 PM phipli: meant to get it underway today
05:21 PM phipli: but ended up switching the board the pigeon camera was running on to a cheaper one instead
05:21 PM JT-Shop: does the orange have as much I/O as the raspberry?
05:21 PM phipli: similar
05:21 PM phipli: some of the other orange pis have an almost (not quite) identical connector to the raspberry pi
05:22 PM phipli: https://www.banggood.com/Orange-Pi-Lite-with-Quad-Core-1_2GHz-512MB-DDR3-WiFi-Mini-PC-p-1101903.html?rmmds=search

05:23 PM phipli: there are loads of different models
05:23 PM JT-Shop: lol drive you nuts
05:23 PM phipli: they're cheap because they leave the software to the community
05:23 PM JT-Shop: what os do you use on the orange?
05:23 PM phipli: but the Armbian crowd are owning it
05:23 PM phipli: I use Armbian
05:23 PM phipli: which is debian / ubuntu derived
05:24 PM JT-Shop: similar to raspbian?
05:24 PM phipli: yeah
05:24 PM phipli: works on a /huge/ number of boards
05:24 PM phipli: https://www.armbian.com/download/
05:24 PM JT-Shop: I like using python vs arduino c
05:25 PM phipli: :)
05:25 PM JT-Shop: need to get the Rpi done and installed before Thanksgiving as we are going on a small holiday
05:25 PM phipli: I've been trying to get better at python
05:26 PM JT-Shop: did you see the pastebin code?
05:26 PM phipli: when is thanksgiving?
05:26 PM phipli: I did
05:26 PM JT-Shop: november 24th or so
05:27 PM phipli: you've set a fixed amount of daylight for the year?
05:27 PM phipli: ah I see
05:27 PM phipli: including artificial light?
05:27 PM JT-Shop: yes, 14 hours I add to the morning
05:27 PM JT-Shop: yes I have some led lights in the coop and run
05:28 PM JT-Shop: the python calculates when to turn the light on if needed and when to turn it off... quite a pia to figure out lol
05:29 PM JT-Shop: but quite simple once it is figured out
05:30 PM phipli: I'm planning to make a python program to drive RGB LEDs
05:30 PM phipli: my brother is pushing the limits of Arduino RAM
05:30 PM JT-Shop: well the code I posted is missing a global variable lol
05:30 PM phipli: his current project has ~1500 individually addressable LEDs
05:31 PM phipli: now?
05:31 PM phipli: can see it used in both defs
05:32 PM JT-Shop: yea
05:32 PM JT-Shop: now = datetime.datetime.now()
05:33 PM JT-Shop: well more bugs lol
05:33 PM phipli: are all those libraries fairly standard?
05:33 PM JT-Shop: yea
05:33 PM phipli: I'm on my laptop - almost clean install since the disk started playing up
05:33 PM phipli: lets see how far I get :)
05:33 PM JT-Shop: got that sorted out?
05:34 PM JT-Shop: the cool part is schedule you can make it run at some time or some time interval
05:35 PM JT-Shop: if you try and run my code you would need to do sudo pip install astral and schedule
05:36 PM phipli: yeah - got an error on schedule
05:36 PM phipli: lol
05:36 PM phipli: not even got pip installed
05:36 PM phipli: the is a very near clean install
05:36 PM phipli: I've just been using my desktop
05:37 PM JT-Shop: yea sudo apt-get install pip I thin
05:37 PM JT-Shop: k
05:37 PM phipli: python-pip
05:37 PM phipli: but yeah
05:38 PM JT-Shop: yea that's it lol
05:40 PM phipli: runs
05:41 PM phipli: gives me Daylight, Lights On, Sunrise and Sunset
05:41 PM phipli: then waits
05:41 PM phipli: just told me the light should be off
05:43 PM phipli: have you used the gpio library before?
05:47 PM phipli: Thing to watch with the raspberry pi is that the IO is mostly 3.3v
05:48 PM hazzy: JT: I get an error that "now" is not defined in status
05:48 PM phipli: how strange
05:48 PM phipli: I don't
05:48 PM hazzy: hmm
05:48 PM phipli: compared to the pastebin
05:48 PM phipli: all I did was add "now = datetime.datetime.now()"
05:49 PM phipli: after "lighton = datetime.datetime.now()"
05:49 PM hazzy: ok, will try!
05:49 PM phipli: hah - sorry, I thought you were JT - wasn't looking closely
05:50 PM hazzy: :)
05:50 PM HighInBC is now known as highinbc
05:50 PM phipli: yeah - JT forgot to define now at the top - realised after he shared the code
05:52 PM hazzy: yep, seems to work now. Thanks phipli
05:52 PM phipli: np
05:52 PM phipli: JT-Shop, schedule.every is a little bit easier to use than timed events using interrupts on an arduino :)
06:07 PM JT-Shop: phipli: yes I like it
06:09 PM JT-Shop: hazzy: work in progress lol
06:10 PM JT-Shop: http://paste.ubuntu.com/25789155/
06:11 PM * JT-Shop goes to sit with the chickens for a while the steaks on the barbie
06:19 PM hazzy: JT-Shop: Studying your code. Now your "naive" and "aware" don't mix comment make since :D
06:29 PM JT-Shop: yea that sent me for a loop trying to finger that out lol
06:57 PM Tom_L: so is the orange 5v tolerant?
06:58 PM Tom_L: seems most arm stuff is 3.3v
06:59 PM pcw_home: I would not expect any notebook/cellphone SOC to have any 5V tolerant pins
06:59 PM pcw_home: Any some pins may only be 1.8V tolerant
06:59 PM pcw_home: and some pins
07:00 PM pcw_home: (USB interfaces being a possible exception)
07:12 PM phipli: Tom_L, don't think it is
07:13 PM phipli: (5v tolerant)
07:13 PM Tom_L: yeah i figured as much
07:13 PM Tom_L: most arm stuff isn't
07:13 PM Tom_L: but they could have buffered the io
07:13 PM phipli: itsn't usually an issue with outputs
07:14 PM phipli: because most 5v logic triggers around 2.5 to 3v
07:14 PM phipli: but...
07:14 PM phipli: inputs :(
07:14 PM phipli: I have some stuff for level shifting though
07:15 PM phipli: sometimes it is easier to just plug in a usb capable MCU and using it as a buffer
07:18 PM pcw_home: The problem with buffering is you lose the ability to control direction without add a bunch of stuff
07:18 PM pcw_home: s/add/adding/
07:19 PM phipli: https://cdn-shop.adafruit.com/datasheets/an97055.pdf
07:19 PM phipli: my favourite bi-directional level shifting circuit
07:19 PM pcw_home: Yeah but they are crap for high speed signals
07:19 PM phipli: two mosfets
07:19 PM phipli: faster than the 4000 series level shifter
07:20 PM phipli: damn fast with the right mosfets
07:20 PM pcw_home: Yeah if they are just series MOSFETS, they are fast (but not buffered)
07:21 PM phipli: in the context that we were level shifting on a SBC though
07:21 PM pcw_home: Thats what we typically use for 5V tolerance on FPGA pins
07:22 PM pcw_home: There are actual bidirectional buffered devices but they are pretty poor
07:22 PM phipli: yeah - technically 1 mosfet and 2 resistors per line is good
07:22 PM phipli: especially when you can often use built in pull-ups on at least one side
07:23 PM phipli: I have a bag of 2n7000 mosfets I use for level shifting
07:41 PM evilroot: Looks like its finally time to tear down the CMM for parts :-(
08:51 PM ziper: why would a surface grinder be less demanding, construction wise, than a lathe or mill?
08:51 PM SpeedEvil: ziper: ~0 cutting forces
08:52 PM SpeedEvil: At least for the finish passes.
08:52 PM SpeedEvil: Lathes and mills have quite high ineradicable minimum cut forces
08:52 PM SpeedEvil: Otherwise you just polish stuff
08:52 PM ziper: ok, I guess you can't just take an infinitesimal depth of cut
08:59 PM ziper: how important are the edges and side faces of the ways compared to the top face?
09:05 PM rebecca_: woo, just validated machining a design larger than my X axis by using an physical reference corner + spacer block then moving the non-fitting portion of the designs gcode. Almost double the X capability with a little tinkering :D
09:09 PM rebecca_: anyho. just had to share my excitement somewhere. now off to see the new bladerunner
09:33 PM hazzy: rebecca_: Glad to hear your ingenuity payed off. How did the other plaque you were working on turn out?
09:33 PM hazzy: Any chance of pics of the finished products? :)
09:36 PM archivist: evilroot, does it have a 14 pin lemo socket on the Z for a renishaw probe?
09:45 PM evilroot: It HAS a renishaw probe on it
09:46 PM evilroot: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5fQTi1W868OU0tFU0w4Nmw1YW8/view?usp=sharing
09:47 PM archivist: cant see google drive on this box
09:47 PM evilroot: And ruby tip
09:47 PM evilroot: Has a Renishaw MIP probe installed
09:47 PM archivist: play with it measure stuff
09:47 PM evilroot: I have, heh
09:48 PM evilroot: Has the computer, software, manuals, everything
09:48 PM archivist: seems a shame to break it
09:48 PM evilroot: But either I sell it or break it down and sell valuable bits and use the rest
09:48 PM evilroot: archivist: I agree so much
09:49 PM evilroot: But like 5 people have said they wanted it and then fallen though
09:49 PM evilroot: Can't just sit here forever
09:49 PM archivist: moving and housing them
09:49 PM hazzy: https://i.imgur.com/0bSjv7s.jpg
09:50 PM archivist: there was an MIP head on fleabay the other day for a silly price
09:51 PM archivist: can see that hazzy :)
09:51 PM hazzy: heh :D
09:51 PM archivist: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Renishaw-Probe-MIP-CMM-Manual-Index-Probe-/222675149015
09:52 PM archivist: must be very early
09:53 PM archivist: manual probes were replaced by motorised
09:53 PM hazzy: That looks to have been lightly used and/or well taken care of
09:54 PM archivist: my MIH cost under £30
09:54 PM evilroot: They're still indemand
09:54 PM evilroot: The probe on my CMM seems to sell at around $1000
09:55 PM * evilroot sighs
09:55 PM evilroot: From the probe and motors drivers and other random parts I'll get around $2k
09:55 PM evilroot: Would rather just sell the whole machine for that
09:56 PM evilroot: Meh
09:56 PM Tom_L: soon as you scrap it, somebody will come along and want it
09:56 PM evilroot: At least I can use the granite for something else (my father wants to make a bench) and the rails/etc for maybe a printer
09:56 PM evilroot: Tom_L: ALWAYS
09:56 PM evilroot: hehe
09:57 PM evilroot: But nothing will be thrown out
09:58 PM hazzy: It would make a fine surface plate, and the inserts could come in handy
09:58 PM archivist: I think sellers try to get silly prices
09:58 PM archivist: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Renishaw-MIH-Probe/263134449092
09:59 PM evilroot: That's a very different probe
09:59 PM hazzy: evilroot: I'm curious, how are the uprights connected to the main granite plate?
10:00 PM Tom_L: epoxy
10:00 PM evilroot: And bolts
10:00 PM archivist: evilren, later I think, allows other probes to fit it
10:00 PM evilroot: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5fQTi1W868OdFlhbFBBSnQ1U3M/view?usp=sharing
10:01 PM evilroot: The rails have a bolt every few cm
10:01 PM evilroot: That goes into a mount countersunk into the granite
10:01 PM evilroot: That's re-enforced with epoxy
10:02 PM evilroot: Thing weighs around 1900lbs
10:02 PM hazzy: I figured something like that. You don't want that moving over time
10:02 PM evilroot: Or by the uprights you mean the other pieces of granite?
10:02 PM hazzy: That is not too bad, I thought it might weigh more like 4000
10:03 PM hazzy: Yes, the vertical granite
10:03 PM evilroot: In which case I have no idea. My father wondered the same thing
10:04 PM evilroot: If I had to guess a mixture of stainless rods and epoxy
10:07 PM archivist: my cmm does not have stainless rods
10:07 PM archivist: had to clean some rust off it
10:11 PM hazzy: It has been a while since I used it, but I think our CMM uses the granite itself for the liner ways. Don't know if that is common or not
10:11 PM hazzy: https://i.imgur.com/EiNL1JH.jpg
10:12 PM hazzy: Can't find a good pic :(
10:12 PM evilroot: This one has tool steel linear rods
10:12 PM evilroot: Erm, rails
10:14 PM hazzy: Yeah, looks like typical ball-bearing linear rails in your pics
10:16 PM archivist: mine has steel drive rods and an alloy guide rods with weight on the granite http://www.collection.archivist.info/archive/mirror/brown_sharpe/11.JPG
10:18 PM archivist: it has pads that hover off the granite, can just see one http://www.collection.archivist.info/archive/mirror/brown_sharpe/10.JPG
10:19 PM hazzy: Oh, it is not a gantry type
10:19 PM hazzy: I had not seen a CMM like that before
10:19 PM archivist: no it was known as the Tardis where it came from
10:20 PM archivist: http://www.collection.archivist.info/archive/mirror/brown_sharpe/1.JPG
10:20 PM hazzy: yes, I am looking at the pics :)
10:21 PM archivist: fun moving it http://www.collection.archivist.info/searchv13.php?searchstr=brown+cmm+pd
10:22 PM archivist: not too heavy
