01:44 AM IchGucksLive: morning from germany
02:04 AM IchGucksLive: morning JesusAlos the spanish head did arrive today :P
02:05 AM IchGucksLive: clear blue sky starting at 6deg C up to 23 hopfully
02:07 AM pfred1: it is hot here
02:29 AM JesusAlos: morning. We are waiting for the big day in Catalonia.
02:32 AM IchGucksLive: JesusAlos: it is not a good idee to get away from a big vountry even when you are the big spender
02:33 AM IchGucksLive: JesusAlos: simular to germany BAYERN they spend 3times more then they recive back
02:41 AM archivist: Scotland too :)
02:47 AM mtt_ is now known as mtt
03:07 AM IchGucksLive: archivist it is as it is
03:08 AM IchGucksLive: evilroot are you home as homeroot
03:08 AM IchGucksLive: im done simulating going milling ;-)
03:12 AM IchGucksLive: later
03:14 AM Cromaglious_: ROTARY 3"TABLE SHOWED UPAND IT'S TINY!
03:14 AM Cromaglious_: oops
03:14 AM archivist: I bet I know which it is, very oops
03:16 AM Cromaglious_: takes tiny 8mm tbuts
03:16 AM Cromaglious_: tnuts
03:16 AM Cromaglious_: now to CNC it
03:17 AM Cromaglious_: about the biggest I could put on this table
03:17 AM Cromaglious_: opened up the bolt down slots to 3/8"
03:25 AM archivist: try backlash
03:33 AM archivist: what is the reduction ratio of it too
03:35 AM archivist: for extra points, test its accuracy http://www.archivist.info/cnc/wormtest/
04:00 AM mrme_ is now known as mrme
04:27 AM mrme_ is now known as mrme
05:25 AM jthornton: morning
05:26 AM XXCoder: hey
05:27 AM XXCoder: wow finally running out of part I was working on for months lol
05:27 AM XXCoder: moving to different machine will feel weird.
05:32 AM jthornton: yuck coffee looks like tea and tastes like warm water
05:35 AM XXCoder: you sure its not tea?
05:36 AM archivist: supposed to wake up before putting the mixture in the cup so you do it right
05:37 AM XXCoder: need to wake up to put correct mixture, need coffee to wake up
05:37 AM MarcelineVQ: a vicious cycle
05:37 AM XXCoder: know whats better?
05:37 AM XXCoder: coffee IV
05:37 AM jthornton: it's an auto grind coffee maker...
05:37 AM jthornton: bet it is clogged up
05:37 AM MarcelineVQ: now's your chance to overhual it to grind anything
05:39 AM archivist: I think the parcel co has not woken up either, email to say Lewis is the driver and 12:33-1:33 delivery, then two hours later er, we have not got the parcel yet
05:39 AM MarcelineVQ: "It's got carbide grinding teeth now, if I wanted rock coffee it'd make it." "Isn't carbide pretty toxic?" "Well sure, but this thing really goes"
05:43 AM XXCoder: just get juicer :P
05:43 AM XXCoder: that way overpriced and over-engineered thing
05:45 AM MarcelineVQ: juicero the packet squeezer?
05:45 AM XXCoder: yeah why not :P
05:46 AM XXCoder: stupid joke but then it was to mock that juciero
05:46 AM MarcelineVQ: I saw a vid on its internals, it's madness how well made it is inside
05:46 AM XXCoder: indeed
05:54 AM Deejay: heya
06:12 AM XXCoder: https://futurism.com/new-eyeglass-accessory-translates-sound-into-light-for-the-hearing-impaired/
06:12 AM XXCoder: interesting
06:19 AM jthornton: indeed it is
06:21 AM XXCoder: I wonder how useful it would be,.
06:21 AM XXCoder: I doubt usable at shop though, what with loud cnc machines
06:22 AM XXCoder: dang. what is chances of this? https://static.boredpanda.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/59bbcd857014a_LruWfnJ__605.jpg
06:25 AM jthornton: I used to get the birds to eat out of my hand when it was real cold outside
06:25 AM XXCoder: yeah though its funny, looks like bird wanted to read article about its species.
06:26 AM jthornton: yea looks that way or wanted to meet the other bird
06:26 AM XXCoder: yeah
06:28 AM XXCoder: *cringe* https://static.boredpanda.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/rarest-things-133-59b00552e2ea0__605.jpg
06:35 AM XXCoder: https://static.boredpanda.com/blog/wp-content/uploads/2017/09/59b101b89ca90_hpiQd__605.jpg
06:35 AM XXCoder: LOL so funny. the driver BARELY dodged ticket.
06:36 AM XXCoder: millisecond before or after guy'd have ticket mailed
06:46 AM jthornton: hmm I think the chicken door code is ready for prime time
06:46 AM XXCoder: awesome
06:47 AM jthornton: yea those buggers are ready to break out of the brooder now
06:49 AM jthornton: 5 weeks old yesterday... it's amazing how fast they grow
06:49 AM jthornton: the first few days they double in size
06:49 AM XXCoder: yeah
06:49 AM XXCoder: it's pretty amazing. whales wow they grow insanely fast too
06:49 AM XXCoder: they gain more weight than human average a day
06:50 AM jthornton: neighbor free ranges her chickens and it's cool to watch 2 day old chicks follow their mom around and eat
06:52 AM jthornton: I need to add an OLED for status readout I think
06:52 AM XXCoder: I wonder if eink screen would work
06:52 AM jthornton: what is eink?
06:53 AM XXCoder: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6NRT8E5-reM
06:54 AM XXCoder: one postibe on eink is when its not being updated, it uses literal zero power.
06:56 AM MarcelineVQ: my ereader uses that tech, battery lasts a long long long time, though the older ones with e-ink lasted even longer
06:59 AM XXCoder: nice
06:59 AM XXCoder: my kindle pw2 lasts a week to 2 weeks now
06:59 AM XXCoder: combination of aged battery and constant reading
07:00 AM XXCoder: its now 3 years old
07:00 AM MarcelineVQ: I wish I had my old ones still, but when you read in bed it's just a matter of time before you wake up with the thing under you
07:00 AM XXCoder: lol never will happen to me
07:00 AM XXCoder: I can't go to sleep by accient
07:01 AM XXCoder: its why its always hard for me to sleep, it takes me 30 minutes, sometimes more to sleep
07:01 AM MarcelineVQ: sounds like a hassle
07:01 AM XXCoder: yeah.
07:01 AM XXCoder: one of other flaw is that I dont move around
07:02 AM XXCoder: so I have to be careful how I pose for sleeping, and I wake up to change pose couple times
07:02 AM XXCoder: I thought that was normal for good part of my life
07:03 AM MarcelineVQ: Wonder if there's a market for a bed made up of a few plates that actuate after a couple hours of someone being on it and roll the person
07:03 AM XXCoder: lol I would wake up anyway so it dont matter for me
07:03 AM XXCoder: and yeah theres special beds for bedridden
07:03 AM XXCoder: new ones not common yet
07:03 AM MarcelineVQ: idk, a person can get used to pretty weird things
07:04 AM XXCoder: one of things I was so glad on sense getting worn with age
07:04 AM XXCoder: I dont feel microquakes and wake up much anymore
07:06 AM MarcelineVQ: ah there's enough planes around here that it can be hard to tell if vibrations are quake or not, or even just a big vehicle on the nearby road come to think of it
07:06 AM MarcelineVQ: acoustically it's an odd spot
07:06 AM XXCoder: lol going to bed is when I REALLY appercate that I am dead
07:06 AM XXCoder: and deaf too
07:07 AM mtt_ is now known as mtt
07:08 AM XXCoder: heh could buy very noisy spot near airplane place cheaply or something :P
07:08 AM MarcelineVQ: quite possibly
07:09 AM XXCoder: wish I had portals tho lol
07:09 AM XXCoder: that'd save so much on commute time
07:10 AM MarcelineVQ: or stepping disks
07:10 AM XXCoder: ohh yeah
07:10 AM XXCoder: would puppiers give us that tech? I doubt it lol
07:10 AM MarcelineVQ: not for free
07:10 AM XXCoder: true heh
07:11 AM XXCoder: but imange having that setup like they had
07:11 AM XXCoder: can walk around would in maybe minutes
07:17 AM XXCoder: well talking about bed, laters lol
07:17 AM MarcelineVQ: bai
07:50 AM skunkworks: http://www.practicalmachinist.com/vb/cnc-machining/anyone-retrofit-cnc-lathe-340165/index8.html#post3044632
07:54 AM skunkworks: someone is arguing on the internet again..
07:56 AM gene83: Whats the argument about this time? Chicken v egg?
07:59 AM skunkworks: linuxcnc is crap compared to any industrial control.
07:59 AM skunkworks: gene83, how are you doing?
08:02 AM gene83: Fair to middlin, better than the woof. I';m going to the PO shortly to get the Rock64's they tried to deliver yesterday,
08:03 AM gene83: I have to sign for them, I was in the garage fighting with lcnc vs leds, and the woof can't get to the door.
08:04 AM gene83: should have had the garage door open, it was nice out.
08:05 AM gene83: The dayu will end badly though, I have to get a molar, wats left of it dug out this afternoon. You?
08:06 AM gene83: still need another coffee IV though.
08:06 AM Loetmichel: coffee IV is a good idea...
Karamelsirup rein, Milch hinterher... *nipp* "aahh, guuuuut!"
08:06 AM Loetmichel: :-)
08:08 AM gene83: And I'll argue that LCNC is the best. And that needs translation, if its translatable ;-)
08:09 AM gene83: gotta check on the missus, and hit the PO
08:09 AM gene83: bbl
09:03 AM IchGucksLive: hi all
09:10 AM gregcnc: you just aren't going to convince people that can spend 100kUSD to 1MUSD on machines that Linuxcnc matters.
09:10 AM IchGucksLive: gregcnc: you are wright
09:11 AM IchGucksLive: its all for almost nothing
09:11 AM IchGucksLive: insted of a bit for all money you got
09:12 AM skunkworks: gregcnc, right - it is still fun to see them rant
09:14 AM gregcnc: yeah i was going to post a link to eusurplus on YT with their linuxCNC retrofits they had that twin umbrella mill recently.
09:15 AM IchGucksLive: gregcnc: can you please ask on the 7i92 if they get the old one not the M version
09:18 AM gregcnc: no idea what you're talking about
09:19 AM IchGucksLive: eusurplus has only the 7i92m in store
09:19 AM gregcnc: i don't deal with them I'm in US.
09:42 AM gene83: I'll byte, whats a 7i92?
09:42 AM gene83: I'll byte, whats a 7i92m?
09:50 AM MarcelineVQ: a mesa i/o card
09:51 AM MarcelineVQ: takes an ethernet connection to your pc and lets you attach various i/o connections from that
09:59 AM IchGucksLive: gene83: it makes your parport become ethernet
10:00 AM MarcelineVQ: hmm, isn't it the other way around?
10:04 AM IchGucksLive: or that way
10:04 AM IchGucksLive: later :P
10:06 AM * Loetmichel hates finepitch chips... MAN did i do a ratsnetst routing there... and still no idea how to cool those chips... who was it again that suggested that LM48100 chip to me? *grmbl* _> http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=16803&g2_imageViewsIndex=1
10:08 AM mrme_ is now known as mrme
10:09 AM MarcelineVQ: amps? what are you using these for?
10:09 AM Loetmichel: hmm, a co-worker just asked for an art project he has... Anybody seen an "eggbot" that can paint pingpong and bigger balls with bitmaps/jpegs (inkjet based maybe)?
10:11 AM MarcelineVQ: Wonder if that's a good job for a laser if they just need black
10:13 AM Loetmichel: MarcelineVQ: me? its a 2*1W amplifier for in 24" monitor frames
10:14 AM MarcelineVQ: in frames? like frame mounted speakers?
10:14 AM Loetmichel: no, he needs full colour precise prints on sperical objects. kind of an art installation with 100s of globes with diffrent maps on them
10:16 AM Loetmichel: MarcelineVQ: http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=15577&g2_imageViewsIndex=1 <- lowest pic, predecessor board is on the right corner in the TFT frame. speakers are in the two aluminium boxes
10:16 AM Loetmichel: but the predecessor board amplifier chips are no longer aviable
10:16 AM MarcelineVQ: hey neat stuff
10:17 AM Loetmichel: its actually a military grade thin client... -> http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=14412&g2_imageViewsIndex=1
10:18 AM MarcelineVQ: there's something pleasing about the perforated shell
10:19 AM Loetmichel: ... not pleasing are the 142 M3 stainless screws... for the wrists ;)
10:21 AM Loetmichel: the silver box is actually the Vmware test server, the client is inside the tft enclosure.
10:21 AM MarcelineVQ: no doubt, allthough if your driver has a torque clutch it makes things a lot nicer
10:22 AM MarcelineVQ: ah that would explain why it has 4 cables running into it
10:22 AM Loetmichel: has to be a hand torque wrench for those
10:22 AM Loetmichel: battery drill tuns to fast.
10:22 AM Loetmichel: the yellow cable is actually a (plug converted) RJ45 cat 5
10:24 AM archivist: the little aldi/lidl battery screw drivers are reasonably slow
10:25 AM archivist: but still need a loose wrist to avoid problems and stop in time
10:33 AM Loetmichel: i had actually problems with the stainless screws heating the tin plating in the threads to the point that they "braze" themselves in place
10:33 AM Jymmm: When you take something like a engine hoist as example. Knowing that certain lever lengths vs lifting ability, is a law/science of ______________? Physics? Geometry? Murphy?
10:35 AM * archivist smells a school question
10:35 AM Jymmm: archivist: haha, no. Just trying to describe something and my varbiage is failing me.
10:36 AM Loetmichel: Jymmm: newtons law physics?
10:37 AM Loetmichel: newton mechanics!
10:41 AM archivist: and those mechanics that fit exploding engines in Loetmichel's cars
10:47 AM pcw_home: I didn't know Newton had a mechanic
10:49 AM jelly-home is now known as jelly
11:26 AM Loetmichel: *haaach* this 318i convertible is the best thing i allowed myself to buy... SO much fun to drive open... worth every penny i invested... even at the "autum temperatures" now setting in... one of these days i WILL kill the gearbox though... its not healthy for it to shift a normal H-type gearbox in less than 0,5 sec... ;)
11:26 AM gloops: misread postal deal on my new board, thought it said wednesday 21 - actually weds 27 ...stupid blunder, i wait another week
11:27 AM gloops: so, in the meantime i will be soundproofing, general tweaking and sorting bits and bobs out, and being pissed off
11:28 AM archivist: aw
11:30 AM gloops: haha been off work 4 days this week was looking forward to finally getting sorted
12:04 PM gregcnc: why haven't i seen this ? involute gear cutting w linuxcnc https://youtu.be/HI27vSoxCeo
12:06 PM archivist: heh stealing my idea from years before
12:07 PM archivist: 2008 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=adT8Dr5JZ4c
12:08 PM gregcnc: yeah i think i have your code bookmarked
12:12 PM gloops: hand coding?
12:13 PM archivist: hand coding rules for some stuff
12:13 PM archivist: especially mathematically linked values
12:14 PM archivist: cam cannot do the same stuff in general
12:15 PM gloops: well, i could probably work that one out, would take some time though, i dont use maths a lot day to day
12:15 PM IchGucksLive: gloops: you here i thought you are off
12:15 PM archivist: things like a gear or hole pattern
12:15 PM gloops: Ichs i am off, total disaster has struck
12:15 PM gloops: board is not here while weds 27
12:15 PM IchGucksLive: disasters happen Trump
12:16 PM gloops: i read wedns 21
12:16 PM archivist: DPD told me yes then told me it did not have the parcel then delivered it!
12:16 PM gloops: only checked today, i could have ordered another if id checked earlier, to get here sooner, another week to wait
12:16 PM IchGucksLive: archivist handcoding is sometimes the best to go
12:17 PM gloops: it might come earlier who knows, but i dont know who they used so cant track it
12:17 PM gregcnc: where are you that it takes so long?
12:17 PM IchGucksLive: gloops: dident it be from edenburg
12:17 PM gloops: UK - it is from UK i cant believe it is scheduled for that long
12:17 PM IchGucksLive: the link i gave you
12:18 PM gloops: i marked 2 same boards, bought one, if id bought the other it would be here now
12:18 PM gloops: not that one Ichs i found same board UK supplier
12:19 PM gloops: so, i potter about for another week
12:20 PM archivist: did you break the board you have?
12:20 PM gloops: nope, you were right - it wasnt suitable for spindle control
12:20 PM archivist: er wot, I dont think I said that
12:21 PM gloops: have got some nice ballnose cutters arrived though
12:21 PM sadisticroot: Ahh, there's something satisfying about seeing a big CNC get loaded on a truck
12:21 PM gloops: archivist i think you looked and said it didnt have 0-10v pin, cant remember now
12:21 PM sadisticroot: Finally done :D
12:22 PM archivist: but it does
12:22 PM gloops: not mine, i showed you the wrong pic, that was it
12:22 PM gloops: the pic i showed wasnt my board - looks very similar
12:23 PM gloops: only a £7 item, why didnt i order both - would have been more chance of 1 arriving quick
12:26 PM gloops: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Cnc-5-Axis-Interface-Breakout-Board-For-Stepper-Motor-Driver-Cnc-Mill-Mach3-BS/201730661523?
12:26 PM mrme_ is now known as mrme
12:26 PM gloops: its that, in manchester, its less than 60 miles away! 10 days delivery!
12:26 PM archivist: feedback is a bit low
12:27 PM gloops: hmm, 87000 sales though
12:27 PM archivist: really coming from hong kong
12:27 PM gloops: i think it is yes
12:28 PM gloops: well, just have to wait wont i, if i order another now it wont be here any quicker
12:28 PM IchGucksLive: gloops: in germany ebay tells the delivering day isent that in the uk
12:28 PM IchGucksLive: as i see nothing on the side
12:29 PM IchGucksLive: famile got a contract to build 500 post box
12:29 PM IchGucksLive: now milling post logo
12:29 PM archivist: there was someone in stoke they were quick
12:30 PM gloops: suppose i could get one by sat with next day delivery
12:30 PM IchGucksLive: GOOD news TODAY Canada and EU is now withoout tax
12:31 PM archivist: same image is from malaysia http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CNC-5-Axis-Interface-Breakout-Board-For-Stepper-Motor-Driver-CNC-Mill-MACH3-ZY-/142166067980
12:32 PM IchGucksLive: there is only one manufacture the blue ones are fake from a other
12:32 PM IchGucksLive: the green got the superfast 817 on board
12:37 PM Cromaglious_: I have the green, they work better than my computer.. I can't generate step rates fast enough with the computer.
12:38 PM Cromaglious_: I was reading 36000 pulses minute reading the spindle speed
12:43 PM gloops: im a victim of eastern sharp practice
12:43 PM gloops: ill have a look later and order another
12:44 PM IchGucksLive: postbox front design http://heimwerkermarkt-tretter.de/posthorn_muster.jpg
12:44 PM IchGucksLive: Your vore
12:44 PM IchGucksLive: vote
12:44 PM IchGucksLive: on 500 parts it woudt be easy to go top right
12:44 PM gloops: hmm not bad
12:49 PM IchGucksLive: gloops: you know this is fake blender
12:50 PM IchGucksLive: only to get a glimp of the part may look like
12:55 PM gloops: sorry was afk
12:55 PM gloops: using blender to design?
12:57 PM IchGucksLive: no only to view it is a Gimp->incscape-Qcad->sheetcam->camotics-> blender process line
12:58 PM IchGucksLive: starting from that image https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Posthorn
12:59 PM gloops: ahh yes, logo makes sense now
01:00 PM IchGucksLive: gloops: not bad are things like that one http://heimwerkermarkt-tretter.de/fit_k.jpg
01:00 PM gloops: is this one of yours as well Ichs?
01:01 PM IchGucksLive: signes on V-carve is a money maker
01:01 PM IchGucksLive: everyone nedds them
01:02 PM IchGucksLive: im living in deep forest with lots of rock monuments
01:02 PM mtt: Hi guys...I am trying to hook up a KRS Servo Drive to my Mesa 5i25+7i76 setup and could use some help to double check that I am not doing anything stupid
01:02 PM mtt: Here is the link to the InOutputs of the Servo Drive https://www.dropbox.com/s/z0j4s0du1fkfuaz/KRS%20Servo%20Drive%20InOutPuts.pdf?dl=0
01:02 PM IchGucksLive: mtt: numbers on the servo drive
01:02 PM gloops: i dont know what the market for v carve signs here is really, they arent common household things
01:03 PM IchGucksLive: gloops: the goverment pays more
01:03 PM gloops: mine is v carving nicely, but spindle too fast, burning wood
01:03 PM IchGucksLive: gloops: http://heimwerkermarkt-tretter.de/hs_2.jpg
01:04 PM IchGucksLive: gloops: im on 60000 rpm at 5mm depth to 1000mm/min
01:04 PM gloops: yes, not so common here i dont think, people do have smaller polished name plaques near the door - some, house numbers that kind of thing
01:05 PM IchGucksLive: even the 20000rpm mashine chees makes it at 600mm/min https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TSvDz0gIbOY
01:05 PM gloops: im about 100ipm at 24k, v carve bit is burning a bit, flat cutters scorching the wood
01:05 PM mrme_ is now known as mrme
01:06 PM gloops: cant really experiment until spindle is controlled
01:06 PM SpeedEvil: gloops: cutting wood?
01:06 PM gloops: yeah
01:06 PM IchGucksLive: mtt: the servo drive got no STEP/DIR as the 7i76 outputs
01:06 PM gloops: crappy pine admittedly
01:07 PM SpeedEvil: gloops: what bits
01:07 PM SpeedEvil: and are they nice and sharp
01:07 PM mtt: I am driving it with 0 - 10V CCW
01:07 PM mtt: that is working today...
01:07 PM mtt: sorry...
01:07 PM mtt: This is a spindle motor...
01:07 PM gloops: Speedevil cheapo v carves, 3/8ths endmill, some decent cutters as well though
01:07 PM gloops: theyre brand new bits
01:08 PM IchGucksLive: shoudt work gloops no burning
01:08 PM gloops: probably been going a bit heavy with v bits about 4-5 mm
01:08 PM IchGucksLive: speed is the masin goal
01:08 PM IchGucksLive: main
01:10 PM gloops: well true, this is my first go with cnc ever though lol, im still dont fully understand whats happening half the time lol, i will build the speed up
01:13 PM SpeedEvil: Slow speed may mean more burning - being more aggressive may reduce it
01:14 PM SpeedEvil: Do you own a (non CNC) router
01:14 PM gloops: ill make some vids when spindle is sorted, you can analyse it
01:14 PM SpeedEvil: playing around with that can be instructive and give you a better feel
01:14 PM gloops: SpeedEvil yes - either increase feed or reduce rpm id think
01:14 PM gloops: got some hand routers yeah
01:14 PM SpeedEvil: Or reduce number of cutting edges
01:16 PM gloops: i could try 2 passes at double feed, that would probably cure it, but again i will be in a different situation when i have spindle control so it hardly seems worthwhile doing so many tests just yet
01:16 PM MarcelineVQ: things that have made burned wood for me when routing (manual) is dull cutter, cutting enough at once to slow down the router, and slow feed rate especially during a direction change
01:17 PM gloops: i had a router on the z to start - no problems with burning, think that was 20k
01:19 PM gloops: not talking heavy burning anyway, but enough to blacken the surface, wont be doing tool much good
01:21 PM IchGucksLive: MarcelineVQ: use G64
01:22 PM IchGucksLive: MarcelineVQ: you can make a second config and write it to the RS232 area as startup code
01:22 PM IchGucksLive: so on wood you always have it in place
01:23 PM MarcelineVQ: thank you, I meant non-cnc manual routing but I'll have to keep that option in mind when I am using cnc
01:27 PM gloops: Ichs how are you getting the v pocket coloured?
01:28 PM IchGucksLive: paint then grind
01:28 PM gloops: paint it all? then sand over
01:28 PM IchGucksLive: if you use roof color
01:28 PM IchGucksLive: yes
01:29 PM IchGucksLive: with roof color you can just wipe
01:29 PM gloops: yes seems logical
01:29 PM gloops: have seen people using some kind of film
01:29 PM IchGucksLive: only on stone
01:30 PM gloops: put film on, cut, spray, remove film
01:30 PM IchGucksLive: on highly sucking material you go the other way
01:30 PM IchGucksLive: first clearcote
01:30 PM IchGucksLive: then carve
01:31 PM IchGucksLive: then paint the carve
01:31 PM IchGucksLive: then sand and clearcxote again
01:31 PM gloops: yes that would work better probably, dont want to be messing about with film
01:31 PM IchGucksLive: the roland knives will fit your cnc to make maskings
01:32 PM IchGucksLive: i use this
01:32 PM gloops: dragknife?
01:32 PM IchGucksLive: yes
01:32 PM gloops: hmm, never thought of that
01:32 PM IchGucksLive: up to .5mm paper
01:33 PM gloops: ive watched vids of dragknife, even cutting leather, seems a bit shakey idea to me, but it works
01:33 PM Cromaglious_: gota link to rowland knife, they make the drag knifes?
01:34 PM IchGucksLive: let me upload a video from the chees mashine
01:35 PM IchGucksLive: http://tv-profi-gmbh.de/eurof_cut.mp4
01:36 PM IchGucksLive: its a one shot
01:36 PM IchGucksLive: on 0,5mm
01:36 PM IchGucksLive: 3mm wide spaces
01:37 PM IchGucksLive: http://www.ebay.de/itm/15X30-45-60-Schneideplotter-Plottermesser-Messerhalter-fur-Roland-Plotter-GE-/182365481175
01:38 PM IchGucksLive: cheep and good to go
01:38 PM IchGucksLive: it even makes sandblast rubber as comag said
01:42 PM IchGucksLive: if you got lots of tiny things to cut and sharp corners best to make HEEKS g-code on 1mm overrun and climb/conventionell with a 0,1 second cut
01:43 PM IchGucksLive: that comes out perfect as made with a 1k cutter
01:43 PM IchGucksLive: ok im off Gn8
02:00 PM CaptHindsight: http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-Axis-CNC-Interface-Adapter-Breakout-Board-For-Stepper-Motor-Driver-Mach3-USB-/191792899380 is there a US supplier of the matching connectors with leads at least 12" long?
02:12 PM gloops: ichs said what those leads were the other day, my long only gets the last session
02:12 PM CaptHindsight: yeah he had a source in the EU somewhere
02:12 PM CaptHindsight: and the leads were not that long
02:21 PM suavesteve: Which connectors?
02:24 PM CaptHindsight: the white 4-pin connectors
02:26 PM CaptHindsight: 0.1" pitch, 25 mil square posts
02:28 PM suavesteve: I think they're JST connectors - never bought them with the leads, though, just made my own up. It was hard to find the blanks, though
02:28 PM suavesteve: Ended up getting them from a local hobby guy who had them from somewhere he couldn't remember
02:38 PM gregcnc: if you got them from a hobbyist, there is a good chance those are jst xh types use for battery "balance leads"
02:40 PM CaptHindsight: might be http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-Micro-JST-1-25-4-Pin-Male-Female-Connector-plug-with-Wires-Cables-x-20-Sets-/272565067037
02:41 PM gloops: http://www.ebay.com/itm/10-Sets-Mini-JST-2-0mm-PH-4-Pin-Male-Female-Connector-Plug-Wires-Cables-300mm-/352101796375?
02:41 PM gloops: those are a foot, but hong kong
02:42 PM gregcnc: that is PH series
02:42 PM gregcnc: JST makes like all connectors in the world so you have to be specific
02:43 PM gloops: yeah, also some boxes with loads of different plugs for wiring yourself
02:43 PM CaptHindsight: http://www.ebay.com/itm/10Set-4Pin-Mini-Micro-JST-XH-2-54mm-24AWG-Connector-Plug-With-Wires-Cables-150mm-/352161381797
02:44 PM gene83: Don't, repeat don't run a pwm signal thru that card. Speed linearity will go straight into the shitter.
02:45 PM gene83: the optos on it are not fast enough for even a 5khz pwm.
02:46 PM gene83: I've got one driving the G0704's spindle, and had to rip out the opto and bypass it, then it was perfect.
02:47 PM CaptHindsight: what part number opto drops in that is fast enough?
02:48 PM CaptHindsight: according to IchGucks the green versions have the fast optos and the knocking off Blue boards have the cheapo slow ones
02:48 PM gene83: almost none. The typical card, such as Jon's PWMSERVO amp, has its own isolation and can work quite linearly.
02:48 PM CaptHindsight: easy enough to find out mits an oscillioscopes
02:49 PM gene83: or put a spinx1 in, thats quite decent.
02:50 PM gene83: I've seen it stretch a 10% input to >20% with its slow off time. Tain't worth the headache.
02:51 PM gregcnc: Ich says they are jst XH in description https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I00ArvYvZgI
02:52 PM CaptHindsight: http://www.ebay.com/itm/10pcs-24AWG-JST-XH2-54-4-Pin-Plug-Wire-200mm-for-RC-BEC-LIPO-Battery-CP-/331935191287?
02:52 PM gene83: Thats on my Hitachi V-1065 scope, dual trace, 100 mhz analog. Somewhat computerizedf.
02:53 PM gloops: what - dont run a vfd through that board?
02:55 PM gene83: unless the vfd can tolerate a low enough HZ without getting an upset tummy. Minimum probably about a kilohertz.
02:57 PM gene83: I tried it with my 1.5 hp clone on the sheldon but it was happier with a 10 kilohertz pwm into a spinx1. Which the 7i90 driven by an r-pi can do while taking a nap.
02:58 PM CaptHindsight: the only US source on ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-Pcs-24-AWG-JST-XH2-54-2-Pin-Plug-Connector-Wire-Cable-20cm-Length-Y6R4-/272856201329
02:58 PM CaptHindsight: opps thats is only a 2pin
02:59 PM gene83: The pedlar assured me it would work, but the raw pwm tended to generat faults that went away when I fed it analog from the spinx1
03:01 PM gene83: with the spinx1, Ican reverse that 30lb chuck at 200 revs in about a second. Rigid tapping works well
03:02 PM CaptHindsight: they all ship from China even on Mamazon
03:02 PM gregcnc: batteries generally don't need long leads on that connector so it will be hard to find in 12"
03:03 PM gene83: Damn, trying to sip warm coffee w/o dribbling on tee shirt, face is full of 'cain.
03:05 PM gene83: One less molar, running out of chewers.
03:06 PM gene83: Has anyone rx'd a rock64 yet?
03:10 PM gene83: Gee don't everybody answer at once...
03:13 PM CaptHindsight: whutz a rock64?
03:17 PM gene83: A pi killer if you believe the propaganda. Different i/o architecture that bypasses the pi's problems, 2 less usb2 ports but a usb3, no radio, new rockchip cpu and expanded SPI facilities.
03:18 PM gene83: dual mali gfx engines but supporrt for them is iffy.
03:20 PM gene83: And $34 witrh 4GB of dram, compared to the pi's 1GB. One eth0 port, gigabit IIRC but might be 100Mbit.
03:21 PM CaptHindsight: which arm soc?
03:21 PM CaptHindsight: rockchip #?
03:22 PM CaptHindsight: ah mali so no gpu drivers
03:22 PM gene83: No heat sinks, so I expect to need to round up a couple sets of those. Plugin socket for e_mem, bought 2 32GB for them too.
03:23 PM CaptHindsight: so you're stuck with whatever kernel they build
03:23 PM gene83: rockchip is copy, runs 100 mhz faster. I am told mali drivers are being worked on.
03:24 PM CaptHindsight: heh, thats an old story
03:24 PM CaptHindsight: unlikely after all these years
03:25 PM gene83: prety much Capt. unless I get brave and revert to building my own, which I have done before, but w/o the rtapi patches.
03:25 PM CaptHindsight: the only open gpu drivers are for Vivante or the GPU in the RPi
03:26 PM gene83: realtime-pre-empt seems good enough on the pi's.
03:27 PM gene83: What pi gpu? framebuffer, 3 to 7 frames a second.
03:27 PM gene83: thats on a pi-3b.
03:29 PM gene83: haven't played with the other pi's.
03:36 PM CaptHindsight: not sure what you are doing with the RPi's
03:37 PM gene83: atm, runnong an 11x36 Sheldon lathe, fairly well.
03:40 PM gene83: Good enough it just carved a 30" 6.5 barrel to fit old meat in the pot, a p-17 enfield, thats now the 4th barrel in it in the last 50+ years.
03:44 PM gene83: SS Bartlien, got it from Grizzly, seems to like Hornady's new 143 Gr ELD-X bullet, 1st group was 1" high, 2" wide. decent breeze that day.
03:45 PM gene83: 'cain is wearing off.
03:52 PM Deejay: gn8
04:33 PM JT-Shop: gene83: is this the Gene from the mailing list?
04:46 PM gene83: yes John
04:48 PM gene83: Sorry about the delay, I ran a can of hot veggie soup thru the drink blender and called it dinner
04:50 PM gene83: Nuked the missus an Arbies roast beef I bought her last night and she slept thru it.
04:50 PM sadisticroot: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B5fQTi1W868OMm1pcmZNNUdWNW8/view?usp=sharing
04:51 PM sadisticroot: ITS ON!
04:51 PM gene83: Moving iron?
05:05 PM gene83: JT-shop?
05:07 PM JT-Shop: hey
05:07 PM gene83: yeah, play irc tag
05:07 PM JT-Shop: how's it going over there?
05:08 PM JT-Shop: me is trying to wrap up the chicken coop automation project :)
05:08 PM gene83: just so-so, had a tooth excavated today and the 'cain is wearing off
05:09 PM gene83: I saw that yesterday scrolling back up thru the list whan I got back. Neat!
05:09 PM CaptHindsight: pain should be gone in a week
05:09 PM gene83: oh thanks
05:09 PM CaptHindsight: nothing like kids or marriage
05:10 PM gene83: Last time 25 years back, it was about 18 hours. But I'm not the man I once was, not even once.
05:11 PM JT-Shop: ouch
05:11 PM gene83: says it all John.
05:11 PM gene83: :(
05:12 PM JT-Shop: bbib gotta rework a deans plug I messed up then chicken coop wiring is all done :)
05:13 PM gene83: Actually, more recent, had a wisdom tooth pulled, but it almost fell out. 15 years maybe.
05:15 PM gene83: deans plug?
05:16 PM gregcnc: rc stuff
05:16 PM gene83: ahh
05:17 PM gene83: kids, the 4 I have left, are either in Nebraska or Maryland.
05:40 PM JT-Shop: I mean dupont connectors lol https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014YTPFT8
05:40 PM JT-Shop: I must have had rc on my mind lol
05:45 PM gene83: I've a neighbor thats in the gfx arts business, so he's been making custom decals for all the local rc race cars. Looks pretty good when one of them goes down the "street" at 1--+ real miles an hour.
05:45 PM gene83: I've a neighbor thats in the gfx arts business, so he's been making custom decals for all the local rc race cars. Looks pretty good when one of them goes down the "street" at 100+ real miles an hour.
05:48 PM gene83: The tile street is pushing it a bit. 2" of blacktop about 16 feet wide. 1 block long.
05:48 PM gene83: The title street is pushing it a bit. 2" of blacktop about 16 feet wide. 1 block long.
05:50 PM gene83: He's been thinking about a camera so he cqan stand in his drive at the top of the street and drive it all the way around the block. :)
05:52 PM gene83: I can throw a rock out of the city limits from my front yard.
05:52 PM JT-Shop: FPV camera and transmitter
05:52 PM JT-Shop: I can throw a rock in the woods while peeing off my porch
05:53 PM gene83: I have to wait for dark.
05:55 PM JT-Shop: lol
05:56 PM gene83: and pick a spot the wannabe street lights don't shine too bright. I'd shoot em out so I could use my 10" Meade telescope
05:56 PM JT-Shop: use a gammo whisper to shoot them out
05:56 PM gene83: but then they'd find some way to cost me lots of money.
05:58 PM JT-Shop: that would suck
05:59 PM gene83: yup
05:59 PM JT-Shop: you get your lathe acting right?
05:59 PM gene83: more or less, I did get it to put a new tube in old meat in the pot though.
06:00 PM gene83: emergency, coffee cup is empty.
06:03 PM gene83: Now I'm piddling around with the camera on the G0704.
06:03 PM gene83: but not tonight. too much distracting pain.
06:05 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, how's that new MB work for the cameras?
06:06 PM gene83: In fact, since I've fed the missus, thinking about laying down & checking my eyelids for leaks. MB?
06:06 PM JT-Shop: Tom_L: got another one arriving tomorrow for my CAD machine
06:06 PM Tom_L: same board?
06:07 PM JT-Shop: yup
06:07 PM Tom_L: cool
06:07 PM JT-Shop: dang M.2 drive is blazing fast
06:07 PM Tom_L: i like it but i'm using the old one right now
06:07 PM gene83: gn8 guys
06:07 PM JT-Shop: see you later Gene
06:08 PM JT-Shop: I forgot to plug the RTC into the ardweenie so it is a bit confused atm
06:08 PM Tom_L: i think i was spoiled with ssd to begin with... it is faster though
06:09 PM Tom_L: i had some compatibility issues with the MB so i plugged the other one back in for now
06:09 PM Tom_L: just some old software i support still
06:10 PM Tom_L: it won't run 16 bit in a cmd window with that MB
06:10 PM Tom_L: haven't really had time to see if there was a solution for it
06:11 PM Tom_L: the bios isn't the very latest but it's the next one down from it
10:20 PM homeroot is now known as evilroot
