12:00 AM CaptHindsight: galvo scan head or XY
12:02 AM CaptHindsight: depends on the application
12:02 AM CaptHindsight: bbl, hasta banana
12:29 AM cncnoob: I think I found the perfect cheap solution for bellows
12:29 AM cncnoob: DIY of course
12:30 AM cncnoob: There are lots of videos out there for how to fold paper into bellows, but the material most videos use is not adequate for stopping chips and oil long term
12:30 AM cncnoob: Tyvek on the other hand I think would stand up to the abuse
12:31 AM cncnoob: and it folds nicely!
12:34 AM likevinyl is now known as Guest57981
12:40 AM enleth: did some tests on the KR200 yesterday, 4th axis is mechanically fine as it moved correctly when I swapped motor connections with 6th axis - 4th moved correctly when driven as 6th, and 6th tripped an overtorque
12:41 AM enleth: looks like a bad cable connection somewhere within the arm itself causing the brake to not disengage
12:41 AM enleth: as far as faults in a robot go, that's probably for the best
12:41 AM enleth: of all the things that could be the cause, an internal cable is going to be the cheapest to replace
12:59 AM Crom: Just received my proxan clone X Y table
01:57 AM Gatsby is now known as Guest94865

02:00 AM archivist: in irc just ask the real question
02:08 AM Deejay: moin
02:12 AM Vq: mornin
02:54 AM Loetmichel: *harrharr* just wanted to close some enclosure... wondered why the right screw didnt want th grab the thread... -> http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=16786&g2_imageViewsIndex=1
03:22 AM enleth: Loetmichel: I've had a drywal screw like that on Saturday
03:22 AM enleth: the damn thing didn't want to puncture the sheet metal for some reason
03:56 AM SpeedEvil: I use cutting oil distilled from beavers. Cuts right through stuff!
04:06 AM RyanS: isn't beaver a brand of milling machine too?
04:07 AM archivist: yes it was
04:07 AM archivist: I have the auction brochure from its end though
04:11 AM RyanS: I saw an ad for one and someone enquired when he could "come and see your beaver " I couldn't work out if it was meant to be a double entendre
04:20 AM IchGucksLive: hi
05:46 AM jthornton: morning
05:46 AM XXCoder: yo

07:05 AM XXCoder: its apparently for watchmaking
07:05 AM XXCoder: Bügelfräsmaschinchen
07:12 AM newbie|2 is now known as justinj
07:13 AM justinj: Is there anyone on that can help me with HAL? My machine wont boot with the 2nd parallel card in it any more and I am trying to set up HAL to simulate spindle ready but failing miserably
07:14 AM jthornton: you need to ask a question...
07:14 AM justinj: I don't know where to start. I have been meddling around with the file for ages but keep getting errors
07:14 AM XXCoder: cant buy replacement card? parallel ports tend to be cheap
07:14 AM justinj: Nah it's the machine not the card
07:14 AM justinj: Card works fine in another machine
07:15 AM XXCoder: why cant it do it now as before it apparently was ok?
07:15 AM justinj: Guessing something has died on the PCI slot
07:15 AM jthornton: comment out each offending line until your configuration loads without an error
07:15 AM XXCoder: no more ports to move into?
07:15 AM justinj: Onboard is ok, but it won't even get into BIOS with 2nd card
07:15 AM justinj: 1 PCI, 1 PCIE :(
07:15 AM XXCoder: bleh
07:15 AM justinj: IKR
07:16 AM jthornton: https://mesaus.com/index.php?route=product/category&path=73
07:16 AM justinj: To start with I copied the example of http://linuxcnc.org/docs/html/examples/spindle.html#_spindle_soft_start
07:18 AM justinj: That's giving me the error ./custom.hal:26: Pin 'motion.spindle-speed-out' was already linked to signal 'spindle-speed-cmd'
07:18 AM justinj: But the first part of the example has net spindle-speed-cmd motion.spindle-speed-out => pwmgen.0.value
07:19 AM jthornton: look in your main hal file for that signal
07:19 AM justinj: I commented out the signal in the main hal
07:19 AM justinj: Remade config with stepgen but without the PWM output so that I could manually add it to custom.hal
07:20 AM jthornton: that signal and pin must still be there somewhere
07:20 AM justinj: Earlier in the custom.hal from the example
07:21 AM justinj: So Ichanged that line
07:21 AM justinj: net spindle-cmd <= motion.spindle-speed-out => spindle-ramp.in
07:21 AM justinj: net spindle-speed-cmd <= motion.spindle-speed-out => spindle-ramp.in
07:21 AM justinj: from the top to the bottom
07:21 AM justinj: sorry: net spindle-speed-cmd => spindle-ramp.in
07:22 AM justinj: but then get ./custom.hal:31: Pin 'scale.0.in' does not exist
07:23 AM justinj: I've been able to use stepconf in entirety previously so I have no idea what I'm doing here
07:23 AM jthornton: what exactly are you trying to do?
07:24 AM justinj: Trying to have HAL fake a spindle at speed after a delay
07:24 AM justinj: I know the speed set in my VFD for spin up/down, so I need HAL to emulate that so I don't have to manually start the spindle
07:25 AM justinj: without it gouging prematurelt
07:26 AM justinj: So: Send PWM signal to enable VFD at desired speed, allow fake ramp to get to spindle at speed, proceed with file
07:30 AM jthornton: pastebin your hal files here http://paste.ubuntu.com/ and give us the link
07:36 AM jthornton: bbib time for a shower
07:38 AM justinj: http://paste.ubuntu.com/25376124 & http://paste.ubuntu.com/25376128
07:59 AM jthornton: I guess you deleted line 26 to get rid of the error but motion.spindle-speed-out is still going straight to pwm and not through the limit2
07:59 AM jthornton: gotta take care of my chicks and head to a job
07:59 AM justinj: This is where I have no idea
08:15 AM JT-Shop: put line 26 back and comment out line 6 and see if the configuration loads without an error
08:33 AM justinj: ./custom.hal:30: Pin 'scale.0.in' does not exist
08:37 AM JT-Shop: change scale.0.in to pwmgen.0.value
08:38 AM justinj: custom_postgui.hal:4: signal 'spindle-at-speed' not found
08:40 AM justinj: Which I have not looked at. Stepconf must have generated it, it has only one line: sets spindle-at-speed true
08:41 AM justinj: Which I have removed and it loads
08:41 AM justinj: Will test now
08:43 AM JT-Shop: ok
08:49 AM * JT-Shop heads to the job site
09:15 AM IchGucksLive: hi
09:16 AM IchGucksLive: justinj: does it work now
09:18 AM IchGucksLive: justinj: here is a example spindle soft start http://linuxcnc.org/docs/html/examples/spindle.html
09:25 AM justinj: I don't get error anymore, but it's also not doing spindle at speed light
09:25 AM justinj: or showing ramping speed as I'd expect
09:25 AM IchGucksLive: can you upload the hal to a pasteservice
09:26 AM IchGucksLive: pastebin.com
09:29 AM IchGucksLive: justinj: your custom_postgui.hal is this connectect to a pyvcp panel in line 4
09:36 AM IchGucksLive: justinj: still here
09:37 AM justinj: Yeah I removed the custom_postgui.hal line
09:37 AM justinj: There was one linking to spindleat speed
09:37 AM IchGucksLive: you use parport pin14 for pwm
09:37 AM IchGucksLive: WHY
09:37 AM IchGucksLive: it is standard on 01
09:37 AM justinj: because that's what my controller takes
09:38 AM IchGucksLive: and as i see setp pwmgen.0.scale 24000
09:38 AM justinj: that's correct if it's a 24k spindle isn't it?
09:38 AM IchGucksLive: so i guess it is a standard CN VFD they got setp pwmgen.0.pwm-freq 400.0
09:38 AM IchGucksLive: what is your BOB
09:39 AM justinj: it's a 50hz input
09:39 AM justinj: setp pwmgen.0.pwm-freq 50.0
09:39 AM justinj: is in my custom.hal
09:39 AM IchGucksLive: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I00ArvYvZgI
09:39 AM IchGucksLive: is it this one
09:40 AM IchGucksLive: ok
09:40 AM justinj: Nah it's part of the G540
09:40 AM justinj: PWM is via a DAC
09:40 AM IchGucksLive: ok
09:40 AM IchGucksLive: so you use mashine hal , coustom hal, postgui
09:41 AM justinj: postgui seems to have been autogenerated by stepconf
09:41 AM IchGucksLive: you uploades 2 http://paste.ubuntu.com/25376124 & http://paste.ubuntu.com/25376128
09:41 AM justinj: I didn't add anyting to it, I removed the one line from it: sets spindle-at-speed true
09:41 AM justinj: Yeah didn;t realise that postgui had something in it because I didn't edit it
09:42 AM justinj: But it only had the line I mentioned above
09:42 AM IchGucksLive: the postgui connects to the sidepanell
09:43 AM justinj: That's the part that's responsible for showing spindle at speed?
09:44 AM IchGucksLive: yes
09:44 AM justinj: So all I have so far (which is obviously why the panel isn't working) is the 2 pastes above
09:44 AM justinj: WHat do I need to put in postgui?
09:45 AM IchGucksLive: can you show me the postgui file to see what is in
09:45 AM IchGucksLive: or only line 4
09:45 AM justinj: It's empty now
09:45 AM justinj: Was:
09:45 AM justinj: 4: sets spindle-at-speed true
09:45 AM justinj: from stepconf
09:46 AM IchGucksLive: is there a sidepanel
09:46 AM IchGucksLive: that showes a led like circle
09:46 AM justinj: I'm using the one built into GMOCCAPY
09:46 AM IchGucksLive: ok
09:47 AM IchGucksLive: left panel or right panel
09:47 AM justinj: bottom right corner?
09:48 AM justinj: http://linuxcnc.org/docs/html/gui/images/gmoccapy_lathe.png
09:48 AM IchGucksLive: is there the speed dial also
09:48 AM justinj: Yeah just above it to set and below for current speed
09:48 AM IchGucksLive: let me load the mashine here
09:49 AM justinj: having it show on screen would be nice so I have visual, but most important is for it to not start cutting
09:52 AM IchGucksLive: ok
09:52 AM IchGucksLive: please put into postgui file
09:52 AM IchGucksLive: net spindle-ready => gmoccapy.spindle_at_speed_led
09:53 AM IchGucksLive: save and restart the mashine config
09:56 AM justinj: It is green before I start the spindle, then when I do it goes red and stays red
09:56 AM justinj: Ohw ait just went green then
09:56 AM justinj: Must be timing
09:57 AM justinj: Oh the default is 60 units a sec, that's why
09:57 AM IchGucksLive: only at speed it is going green
09:57 AM justinj: What about the little speed meter bar, is it possible to have that show the speed?
09:57 AM IchGucksLive: so the led works
09:57 AM justinj: yeah :)
09:57 AM IchGucksLive: yes
10:00 AM justinj: How do I have it scroll the speed from PWM?
10:00 AM justinj: I'm assuming it uses the PWM signal name?
10:01 AM IchGucksLive: net spindle-cmd-rps-abs => gmoccapy.spindle_feedback_bar
10:05 AM IchGucksLive: justinj: you need to set the spindle_bar_max = 6000.0 to 24000 in gmoccapy.pref
10:20 AM simonious is now known as Simonious
10:24 AM justinj: I've added that other line for the feedback bar but it does not make it update
10:25 AM IchGucksLive: bad
10:26 AM IchGucksLive: update means if you change the speed
10:26 AM IchGucksLive: or doe it show nothing at all
10:27 AM justinj: Nothing at all
10:27 AM justinj: Bar says 0 0 24000 and no meter
10:28 AM IchGucksLive: ok that is correct
10:30 AM IchGucksLive: can you look into the halshow
10:31 AM IchGucksLive: use settings bottom right halshow
10:32 AM justinj: showing 0
10:32 AM justinj: So spindle-cmd-rps-abs is wrong signal?
10:33 AM IchGucksLive: rpm
10:33 AM IchGucksLive: not rps
10:33 AM justinj: oh I copied RPS from your line above
10:34 AM justinj: ok when I have it set to RPM it shows the same speed as it's set to
10:34 AM justinj: I was expecting it would show ramp value?
10:34 AM IchGucksLive: it shoudt ramp up and down use the slider above
10:35 AM justinj: It just copies the same number
10:36 AM IchGucksLive: you need to find the signal that has the rampspeed
10:36 AM justinj: I think I should be using spindle-ramp.out?
10:36 AM IchGucksLive: USE halshow
10:36 AM IchGucksLive: in settings
10:37 AM IchGucksLive: advanced settings
10:37 AM justinj: So which value is the signal when I am looking at halshow?
10:37 AM IchGucksLive: i do not see what you see as im in germany ;-)
10:38 AM justinj: http://tinypic.com/r/6h3y8x/9
10:38 AM IchGucksLive: in halshow
10:38 AM IchGucksLive: select watch first
10:38 AM IchGucksLive: then goto signals
10:38 AM justinj: So I have found the one
10:38 AM justinj: But as per the pic, I am wondering how I know which value to use
10:39 AM IchGucksLive: you will see the ramp
10:39 AM IchGucksLive: and then use the signal that is connected
10:40 AM justinj: So it says:
10:40 AM justinj: spindle-ramped
10:40 AM justinj: ==> pwmgen.0.value
10:41 AM justinj: ==> spindle-at-speed.in2
10:41 AM justinj: <== spindle-ramp.out
10:41 AM justinj: Am I using spindle-ramped as the signal name?
10:41 AM IchGucksLive: try it
10:42 AM IchGucksLive: net spindle-ramped gmoccapy.spindle_feedback_bar
10:42 AM justinj: yes that works :)
10:42 AM IchGucksLive: ok so have fun
10:43 AM IchGucksLive: if you are confusing on green as spindle stop
10:43 AM justinj: Although I have one other query now. I have 'set setp spindle-ramp.maxv' in my custom.hal to 2000 up from 60. This is labelled as units per second but it does do it at that speed
10:43 AM IchGucksLive: use a AND gate to get spindleis running into the signal chain to spindle at speed
10:44 AM justinj: At 2000 and S500 it takes about 2 seconds to ramp up, and at S5000 it takes about 12 seconds
10:45 AM justinj: How does it use this value?
10:45 AM justinj: It obviously isn't increasing at 2000 per second because then S5000 should take 2.5 seconds
10:45 AM justinj: not 12
10:45 AM justinj: Not a big deal, I can just make a bigger number that suits, but would be good to know
10:46 AM IchGucksLive: sometimes it wonders what it does
10:46 AM IchGucksLive: the pwm is also within at 50hz limits
10:48 AM justinj: This is for the soft start timer, not to do with actual PWM output
10:49 AM IchGucksLive: setp limit_speed.maxv 3000.0 # rpm/second
10:49 AM justinj: Anyway, that's not too big of a deal, the important bits are done now. Thanks for your help :)
10:51 AM justinj: Wish I had of come on IRC yesterday. 2 nights now I've been up past 1am trying to do this
10:52 AM justinj: Ich bin aus Australia
10:53 AM IchGucksLive: justinj: here is my youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCmwhCL92ZQRSVqFe3jGwJSQ/videos
10:54 AM IchGucksLive: im off till later 7pm Berlin time
12:26 PM IchGucksLive: hi
12:30 PM CaptHindsight: http://www.3ders.org/articles/20170823-is-filament-made-from-astronaut-urine-the-next-giant-leap-for-3d-printing-in-space.html
12:30 PM IchGucksLive: CaptHindsight: so humen remains can do goods
12:49 PM IchGucksLive: today we did hit a real good summerday here in germany
01:13 PM IchGucksLive: im off Gn8
01:55 PM gloops: what kind of resolution is required for cnc wood router - general use carving cutting out joints
01:59 PM gloops: as in how many steps per mm is desirable
02:05 PM CaptHindsight: 1/4 - 1/8mm
02:07 PM gloops: 1/4mm? that seems pretty coarse, i dont know how the cut is going to look just trying to get an idea
02:07 PM CaptHindsight: +/- 1/8 to 1/16mm
02:07 PM gloops: ive already got that so should be ok
02:08 PM gloops: you see people in these forums saying their router is down to .001
02:09 PM CaptHindsight: well who knows what they are saying
02:09 PM CaptHindsight: most don't even know how to properly measure anything
02:09 PM gloops: i cant imagine any situation where woodwork needs those tolerances
02:10 PM Crom: gloops, certain woods only... iron wood (lignum vitae)
02:11 PM CaptHindsight: or they measure an axis with a dial indicator and say that what tolerance that they get on their parts
02:12 PM gloops: Crom i suppose, but a joint of .1mm - by the time youve waxed it or whatever its gone
02:12 PM CaptHindsight: gloops: 0.001" or 0.001mm? :)
02:13 PM gloops: Capt maybe .001 inches yeah
02:14 PM CaptHindsight: they certainly are not getting 0.001mm
02:14 PM gloops: ive got 8 steps per mm at 800 microsteps
02:15 PM gloops: ill find out anyway when i start cutting, couple of days off so ill get it fixed up
02:17 PM gloops: bbl
02:23 PM Tom_L: CaptHindsight i measure mine with a yard stick
02:30 PM mtpocketscnc: is anyone able to help me connect up pycams parallel processing up to remote server i just cant seem to figure it out. I have two computers that i can use ssh back and forth but just don't get how to make the two pycams talk
02:31 PM mtpocketscnc: pycam version is 0.6.1
02:33 PM CaptHindsight: Tom_L: I have a wood one that is 39" long
02:39 PM Tom_L: now you're just bragging
03:50 PM gloops is now known as Goodlord
04:28 PM Deejay: gn8
04:42 PM Loetmichel: man, sometimes i wonder what the chinese use to make m3 screws.. today my bosses wife came and complained that she had a delivery of 50 encliosueres, all held togehter for transport by a few m3 screws. and she stripped the phillips heads of ALL of them...
04:42 PM Loetmichel: so i grabbed my leatherman wave, gripped the first head from the side, pressed onehanded...
04:43 PM Loetmichel: ... and flattend the head vertcally before it broke off...
04:44 PM Loetmichel: the other ones i used less force and could unscrew them easily... but how can a wave have enough oomph on the TIP of the tweezers to flatten a steel m3 screw head?
04:50 PM TurBoss: they have a bar of steel that screws must learn from
04:51 PM Loetmichel: and i am not "the rock" either
04:51 PM Loetmichel: more like "squabbles" ;)
04:52 PM Loetmichel: (ok, compared to the other employees there i AM the rock... man, never seen so many weak person in one spot ;)
04:53 PM TurBoss: :D
04:53 PM TurBoss: plz open this jar..
04:53 PM TurBoss: and so
04:53 PM Loetmichel: we have a (not so) nice word for these in german: "sesselpuper"
04:53 PM Loetmichel: (chair farter)
04:54 PM phipli: JT-Shop: went to the Natural History museum today
04:54 PM Loetmichel: meaning that they have jobs whcih only require sitting on a desk all day
04:54 PM phipli: they've got giant proto-chickens
04:54 PM phipli: 20 foot tall chickens with little arms and big teeth :)
04:54 PM TurBoss: we call them " calienta sillas"
04:56 PM Loetmichel: TurBoss: and the meaning of that?
04:56 PM TurBoss: ah
04:56 PM phipli: Heated Seats
04:56 PM TurBoss: xD
04:57 PM Loetmichel: how fitting
04:57 PM TurBoss: chair heater
04:57 PM phipli: (I had to check because I didn't know if you were talking about Dinosaurs)
04:57 PM TurBoss: heheh
04:57 PM phipli: :)
04:57 PM phipli: the missus says "it depends if they were warm blooded or not"
04:57 PM Loetmichel: and: not "plz open this jar"... thats reserved for my wife
04:58 PM Loetmichel: more like "can you lift this laser printer into the measurement chamber?"
04:58 PM Loetmichel: my usual reply is: "sure. its onyl 45kg. where is the problem?"
04:58 PM phipli: Loetmichel: the day they work out that the hot tap releases it, we will have not purpose in life
04:59 PM phipli: Loetmichel: once someone asked me would I like them to put my luggage in the overhead rack on the train...
04:59 PM Loetmichel: phipli: my wife has her own leatherman wave in the nightstand... she doesent need my help with jars THAT often
04:59 PM phipli: two problems with that
04:59 PM phipli: 1. it was a box bigger than the rack...
05:00 PM phipli: 2. it was a arc welder
05:00 PM Loetmichel: hrhr
05:00 PM phipli: weighed a ton
05:00 PM * Loetmichel once went on a flight for the company
05:00 PM phipli: not one of your fancy modern ones
05:00 PM Loetmichel: with the usual duffelbag of clothes on the shoulder standing in line to check in
05:01 PM Loetmichel: when it was my turn i shoved the duffelback from the shpoulder and let it drop on the luggage scale..
05:01 PM Loetmichel: *CLANK*
05:01 PM Loetmichel: *beeping scale*
05:02 PM Loetmichel: about 58kg... was half full of 1/2" by 2" copper power rails and tools for mounting them... on site where i was flying
05:02 PM Loetmichel: the look on the clerks face ;)
05:02 PM Loetmichel: ... priceless ;)
05:02 PM Loetmichel: duffelbag, noch back
05:03 PM phipli: :)
05:03 PM phipli: I ran for a train while carrying a rack mount server once...
05:03 PM phipli: collapsed in the vestibule once I just made it
05:04 PM phipli: someone walked past, saw me sat on the floor and said "oh, there is loads of seats in there", pointing into the saloon...
05:04 PM phipli: "yeah... I know... I'm just recovering"
05:04 PM Loetmichel: hihi, i know that feeling ;)
05:05 PM phipli: I think more things should have wheels
05:05 PM phipli: and possibly engines
05:05 PM Loetmichel: <- worked nearly 10 years in "rock'n roll stage rental"
05:05 PM Loetmichel: the people you meet there...
05:06 PM Loetmichel: 1" higher than a sit down pig but the power of 5 berzeks ;)
05:07 PM phipli: Loetmichel: ever had to move a Hammond Organ?
05:07 PM Loetmichel: and also walking mountains that i had to show that one can move a 100ft 63A CEE cable in EACH hand.
05:08 PM Loetmichel: phipli: yes. and a few pianos and grand pianos
05:08 PM Loetmichel: we also lifted a smart fourtwo on the stage once per hand because the boss forgot to pack the ramps
05:08 PM Loetmichel: ;)
05:08 PM phipli: We have a C3 - like the B3, but with more wood
05:09 PM phipli: just checking how much they weigh...
05:09 PM phipli: took some moving
05:09 PM Loetmichel: the look on the smart engineers face when we grabbed the 4 fenders...
05:10 PM Loetmichel: "NOT THE FENDERS; THEY ARE MADE OF PLASTIC!"
05:10 PM phipli: B3 is 193kg
05:10 PM phipli: C3 must be >200kg
05:10 PM Loetmichel: ... so we grabbed in the rims... 4 ppl
05:10 PM Loetmichel: 800kg car..
05:10 PM Loetmichel: :-)
05:10 PM Loetmichel: "HOOOOO... RUCK"
05:10 PM Loetmichel: and it was on the 80cm high stage
05:10 PM phipli: heh
05:11 PM Loetmichel: that was the moment the engineer lost it ;)
05:11 PM phipli: I've had issues with the reverse
05:11 PM phipli: you're carrying something huge down steps
05:11 PM phipli: and people GET IN YOUR WAY
05:11 PM Loetmichel: yeah, down is harder than up most of the time
05:12 PM phipli: I'm lucky
05:13 PM phipli: I have a good friend that lives nearby who is good at carrying things
05:13 PM phipli: asks to put it down before dropping / strong / careful
05:13 PM phipli: all the useful things
05:13 PM phipli: good person to know
05:14 PM phipli: also they're a good electrical and electronic engineer...
05:14 PM Loetmichel: sounds like me
05:14 PM Loetmichel: less careful though ;)
05:14 PM phipli: :)
05:15 PM Loetmichel: especially when it comes to my person...
05:15 PM Loetmichel: the injurys i had...
05:15 PM Loetmichel: ... 99% "own stupidity"
05:16 PM phipli: I'm reasonable at not hurting myself
05:16 PM phipli: my propane burns have mostly healed now...
05:16 PM Loetmichel: hihi
05:17 PM Loetmichel: burns are not injuries, they heal off
05:17 PM phipli: I just have what looks like a birthmark on my arm
05:17 PM Loetmichel: (usually)
05:17 PM phipli: changes colour depending on how warm I am
05:17 PM phipli: my arm hair really helped me
05:17 PM Loetmichel: i mean things like putting the thumb near a 3mm 2 flute tungsten carbide bit rotating at 24krpm...
05:18 PM phipli: I lost most of the hair on one arm, but only got burnt badly where the hair ends and before the tshirt started
05:18 PM Loetmichel: result: http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=2958&g2_imageViewsIndex=1
05:18 PM Goodlord: i took the tip of a finger off with a chopsaw
05:18 PM phipli: Do I really want to click that?
05:18 PM Loetmichel: its an xray
05:18 PM phipli: I've had to clean up the flesh and blood after my brother drilled a hole in his thumb...
05:18 PM Loetmichel: not bloddy
05:18 PM Loetmichel: i have some of that if you want to ;)
05:19 PM phipli: I'm alright thanks :p
05:19 PM Loetmichel: http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=11136&g2_imageViewsIndex=1 <- this one IS slightly bloddy... same thumb... met the bandsaw blade... ;)
05:19 PM phipli: his wife was with him in the one room, so while she wasn't looking I cleaned up the trail of blood and removed the flesh from the flutes
05:20 PM Loetmichel: http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=16188&g2_imageViewsIndex=1 <- same hand, slipped with a deburr tool lately ;)
05:20 PM Loetmichel: why its always the left hand: no idea ;)
05:20 PM phipli: a hand deburring tool?
05:21 PM Loetmichel: yes ;)
05:21 PM phipli: one of the wiggly ones, or the triangle ones?
05:21 PM phipli: LeelooMinai: it is always the left hand because the right hand is holding the weapon!
05:22 PM Loetmichel: http://de.rs-online.com/web/p/entgratungswerkzeug/3394336/ <- broke the tip off, slipped and the rest of the tool impacted the muscle.
05:23 PM phipli: Impressive - now have you learnt anything from this?
05:24 PM Loetmichel: yeah. checking the vector of the tool in case i slip again before using it pointong at my body ;)
05:25 PM phipli: good :)
05:25 PM Loetmichel: wasnt that bad though
05:26 PM phipli: Issue here is that the government is trying to run down our nationalised health service
05:26 PM phipli: so...
05:26 PM phipli: the waits are so long you risk having complications
05:26 PM phipli: and miss loads of work
05:27 PM phipli: basically they spend their time trying to make it worse so they can justify replacing it with insurance
05:28 PM Loetmichel: wrapped a few paper towels around the gash, got driven to the ER, got stiched, went back to the company, cleaned up the bloddy mess, finished my work for that day. And went working next day with a bnandaid in place of the monster bandage the ER surgenon had put on ;)
05:28 PM phipli: I wouldn't trust a mechanic to work on my car at the end of a 12 hour shift, yet for some reason 12.5 hour shifts are normal for doctors
05:28 PM Loetmichel: phipli: in germany assistant docotrs have 24 hr shifts
05:29 PM phipli: urgh
05:29 PM Loetmichel: 3 times a week
05:29 PM phipli: WHY!
05:29 PM Loetmichel: officially that is "standby"
05:29 PM phipli: ah right
05:29 PM phipli: they can sleep then
05:29 PM phipli: we call that "on call"
05:29 PM Loetmichel: but with not that much personal its more like 24hr ER service
05:29 PM Loetmichel: than on call
05:30 PM phipli: yeah, if you're called every time constantly
05:30 PM Loetmichel: yeah
05:30 PM phipli: you're short of doctors too?
05:30 PM Loetmichel: not that bad as in some other countrys
05:30 PM Loetmichel: but yes, a bit short
05:30 PM Loetmichel: doctors are expensive
05:30 PM Loetmichel: so they dont hire that much
05:31 PM Loetmichel: and assistant docotors are pretty much "interns" ... with a similar wage
05:31 PM Loetmichel: on the othe rhand: our healt care system is one of the 10 best in the world last time i looked at the charts
05:31 PM phipli: I wish we treated the people that saved our lives and stitched us back together a little better...
05:31 PM Loetmichel: so it cant be THAT bad ;)
05:33 PM phipli: main issue here is just getting seen
05:33 PM phipli: kit and people are really good
05:33 PM Loetmichel: which country?
05:33 PM phipli: UK
05:33 PM Loetmichel: ah
05:33 PM Loetmichel: wasnt impressed when my wife and me visited london a few years ago
05:34 PM phipli: never tested the hospitals down there
05:34 PM Loetmichel: ... and there was not a single place to find to get her new casters for her wheelchair...
05:34 PM Loetmichel: on a workday
05:34 PM phipli: hum
05:34 PM Loetmichel: bcause the original once collapsed when running into a pothole
05:35 PM Loetmichel: i ended up making her new rims back home.
05:35 PM Loetmichel: now she has a wheelchair with "BBS" rims ;)
05:35 PM phipli: heh
05:35 PM phipli: 17 inch?
05:35 PM Loetmichel: http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=15975&g2_imageViewsIndex=1
05:35 PM Loetmichel: no, the casters
05:35 PM Loetmichel: orignal plastic one in the middle
05:36 PM Loetmichel: spokes bent sideways
05:36 PM phipli: nice :)
05:36 PM phipli: get them anodised gold?
05:36 PM Loetmichel: http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=15969&g2_imageViewsIndex=1 <- so i made some reinforcements
05:37 PM Loetmichel: hrhr
05:37 PM Loetmichel: not that gold type
05:38 PM Loetmichel: but i found it pretty "lame" that noone could tell me where to get new ones in london
05:39 PM Loetmichel: "thats NHS stuff, we cant sell that."
05:39 PM Loetmichel: or something to that meaning
05:40 PM phipli: yeah
05:40 PM phipli: a machine shop might have been your best bet
05:40 PM phipli: even though it should be like that
05:40 PM phipli: *shouldn't
05:43 PM phipli: So, turns out these exist : http://www.nejohnston.org/birds/2012/07/Images/IMG_1605.jpg
05:43 PM phipli: type of pigeon
05:43 PM phipli: they're as big as our chickens!
05:44 PM seb_kuzm1nsky is now known as seb_kuzminsky
05:44 PM Loetmichel: phipli: fancy feathers ;)
05:45 PM phipli: yes
05:45 PM phipli: they look amazing
05:50 PM phipli: Right. I'm off to bed
05:50 PM phipli: nn folks
06:01 PM Tom_L: in the ini, if you have more than one path for subroutines what character do you separate the path with?
06:01 PM Tom_L: ";" ?
06:04 PM Tom_L: or a colon?
06:08 PM JT-Shop: evening
06:08 PM Tom_L: hey jt
06:08 PM Tom_L: it isn't finding my 'home' subroutines now
06:12 PM JT-Shop: ini not configured right?
06:12 PM Tom_L: i don't think i changed it
06:13 PM Tom_L: i put the nc_files first in the subroutine_files list now
06:13 PM Tom_L: err subroutine_path
06:14 PM Tom_L: separated by a colon
06:21 PM JT-Shop: are you using the full path to the directory?
07:35 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop, i got that fixed
07:35 PM Tom_L: yeah i put in /home/......
07:36 PM Tom_L: now i've got the 2 pid switching with mux2 but no movement from pid.1 yet
07:37 PM Tom_L: i think i need a direction pin from it
09:48 PM hazzy: Making some progress on my drag-n-drop linuxcnc UI: http://i.imgur.com/3ZSKyXn.png
09:49 PM hazzy: Simply drag-n-drop 'widgets' from a 'library' to build a custom UI
09:49 PM HighInBC: neat
09:49 PM hazzy: I have only 3 widgets done so far :D
09:50 PM hazzy: I take that back, only 3 started so far!
09:53 PM HighInBC: be sure to add a widget that goes "BING!"
10:06 PM Tom_L: stay with it :D
10:29 PM CaptHindsight: hazzy: neat, is your source public somewhere?
10:29 PM CaptHindsight: hazzy: what tools are you using for the widgets?
10:30 PM CaptHindsight: https://github.com/KurtJacobson/hazzy this?
10:40 PM hazzy2: CaptHindsight: Yes that is the source. The current work is on the GTK3 branch
10:41 PM hazzy2: All the widgets are done in plain old GTK3
10:42 PM hazzy2 is now known as hazzy
11:13 PM DrippityDrops1 is now known as DrippityDrops
