12:13 AM roycroft: just hope the va hasn't been privatised by then
01:54 AM Crom: heh.. true
02:27 AM LeelooMinai: Hmm...
02:29 AM LeelooMinai: Chinese have interesting support for things bought on Aliexpress
02:33 AM renesis: ?
02:36 AM LeelooMinai: Well, I had some problems with inverter <-> RF modem communication, so I let the seller know, and then I get an email from the company that makes this stuff and some guy asks me to let him through TeamViewer on the PC with the software and diagnose it.
02:37 AM LeelooMinai: Normally I would say no, but it is on a VM, so, whatever - he started poking in that software with some debug console:)
02:39 AM LeelooMinai: Weird, but kind of impressive that they care enough to do per-person support like that.
02:40 AM archivist: unusual I would say
02:43 AM Deejay: moin
06:22 AM jthornton: morning
06:23 AM XXCoder: yo
06:23 AM XXCoder: they finally moved part I was running to other office mill
06:23 AM XXCoder: its been repaired and works fine
06:23 AM XXCoder: finally. yeserday was ugly.
06:24 AM Deejay: o7
06:26 AM jthornton: why is that
06:27 AM XXCoder: other office mill broke down and moved to second one
06:27 AM XXCoder: that one was repaired but other one broke down yeserday
06:27 AM XXCoder: after troublesome couple weelks
06:27 AM XXCoder: so yeah back to orginial lol
06:27 AM pink_vampire: hello
06:27 AM XXCoder: hey
06:28 AM XXCoder: man is office mill sure NOT production machine. we still has 600+ parts to go and I'm very sure that machine will break down again unless they finally finish new fixure for robodrill machine.
06:57 AM Tom_L: tgif
07:00 AM XXCoder: tgith for me heh
07:00 AM XXCoder: except tomorrow is one of my rare friday overtime
07:00 AM XXCoder: so will be tgif evenually lol
07:03 AM jthornton: I finally got all the itch put up in the new shop yesterday what a pia doing the gables
07:05 AM XXCoder: yay itches are done!
07:05 AM jthornton: yea for sure
08:09 AM jdh: outsource itchy labor
08:09 AM jdh: and yardwork
08:59 AM Deejay: o0
09:51 AM pink_vampire: Deejay:
10:08 AM CHRdk: Hi, I have some problem with finding the 0-10V for vfd on a cheap 5.Axis BOB, does need some help, please :-)
10:08 AM archivist: which bob ar are you looking for a bob
10:09 AM archivist: I use this sort http://www.collection.archivist.info/archive/mirror/cnc/bob/$_57.JPG
10:10 AM CHRdk: I have the cheap model with a relay on, but i dont have the model nomber, none of you habe made at youtube video of for about 6 mdr ago
10:11 AM CHRdk: yes it is this one on the link
10:12 AM CHRdk: i cant finde the 0-10v on it, is it to come from the BOB or the VFD
10:13 AM archivist: the one I have? then have you put in 12-25 V
10:14 AM archivist: it comes from the bob if you set it up correctly
10:15 AM CHRdk: ok, i have set it up in linuxcnc with p1 as pwm and spindel on at p17
10:15 AM CHRdk: Relay is clicking when actived and have 24v over, but does not start spindle
10:16 AM CHRdk: When activeting speed rpm bar in linuxcnc there is no volt comming out to VFD
10:19 AM archivist: I would use a scope to check if pwm is on the pin correctly
10:20 AM CHRdk: dont have on :-(
10:21 AM CHRdk: can i measure the volt over the pins on the BOB
10:21 AM archivist: if you measure the voltage on the pwm pin it should vary
10:22 AM CHRdk: when i measure over the pins i have 0V
10:23 AM archivist: is your config correct
10:23 AM CHRdk: and that is over 0-10 and Ground on bob
10:23 AM CHRdk: what is the correct config then?
10:24 AM archivist: 5v ground and the pwm pin not the 0-10
10:25 AM CHRdk: oh.. 5v? i dont get that :-)
10:25 AM archivist: the 0-10 is isolated from the 5v pc side
10:25 AM CHRdk: ok
10:26 AM CHRdk: i have 5v on one sidew abd 12 v as well
10:26 AM archivist: trying to see if you are really commanding P1 with pwm
10:27 AM CHRdk: my setup is p1=pwm and p17 =spindel on
10:28 AM archivist: relay clicking is saying the 12v is correct
10:28 AM archivist: meter pwm pin and pc ground will show if that is working
10:28 AM CHRdk: yes, but it dont start the vfd
10:29 AM archivist: there are two/three problems to check and eliminate
10:29 AM CHRdk: ""meter pwm pin and pc ground will show if that is working"" okay
10:30 AM archivist: that will check linuxcnc config to pin
10:30 AM CHRdk: yes I am all ear
10:30 AM archivist: then there is the enable to the vfd and the 0-10 to vfd
10:31 AM CHRdk: i can sen you my wiring setup?
10:32 AM archivist: I dont need that, what voltage do you measure on the pwm pin (bottom edge)
10:32 AM CHRdk: I am not at the maschine now :-(
10:33 AM archivist: rather need to be at the machine for help
10:34 AM CHRdk: yeah... can see that
10:34 AM CHRdk: are you on for the some time
10:36 AM archivist: there are others as well not just me
10:37 AM CHRdk: ok, i will to go to the maschine and then hope for the best
10:38 AM CHRdk: thanksfor all
11:02 AM archivist: stay in channel so all can help
11:09 AM archivist: if you have 0-5 on the pwm and dont have 0-10 on the output then it is shorted externally or faulty
11:14 AM CHRdk: I dont have volt on the output
11:15 AM archivist: if you have 0-5 on the pwm and dont have 0-10 on the output then it is shorted externally or faulty
11:15 AM archivist: are you measuring from the 12v ground now
11:16 AM CHRdk: I am measure the 0/10v and ground to vfd
11:18 AM archivist: have you accidentally shorted it
11:19 AM CHRdk: have you accidentally shorted it ......you meaning
11:20 AM archivist: connected the output to ground
11:20 AM CHRdk: yes
11:20 AM archivist: think about what I am asking/saying
11:21 AM CHRdk: ok
11:22 AM archivist: remove the wire on the 0-10 volt but not the ground wire re test the output
11:22 AM archivist: the red wire in this image to the vfd http://www.collection.archivist.info/archive/mirror/cnc/bob/$_58.JPG
11:23 AM CHRdk: ok just a min
11:26 AM CHRdk: still 0v
11:29 AM archivist: possibly a faulty bob
11:29 AM CHRdk: just my luck
11:30 AM archivist: first one I have heard of, in this type
11:31 AM CHRdk: normaly i shall hav 0/10v over that, right, i have at spare one
11:31 AM archivist: try the other see it that is ok
11:32 AM CHRdk: can it be in spepconf, maybe
11:32 AM CHRdk: stepconf
11:32 AM archivist: no the 0-5 on the pwm pin narrows it down to bob
11:33 AM CHRdk: ok, thanks i will try the other one
11:33 AM archivist: this is "divide and conquer" fault finding, check in the middle of circuit, is it ok, then fault to right
11:36 AM CHRdk: electric is not my strong side, as you can see, i will go over all again
11:39 AM CHRdk: thanks for helping
11:41 AM Loetmichel: sooo, got the mechanical workbenches at the company covered in fresh bubblewrap (esd-free this time)... is it normal that the staper has no pins left in it the moment you want to use it?... (and yes, we have real ESD-workplaces, all along the windows on the left) -> http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=16755&g2_imageViewsIndex=1
11:57 AM IchGucksLive: hi all from a real sunny germany
11:58 AM Deejay: hello sunshine
11:59 AM Todd_Z: yep, stapler or nailer, is always empty when you pick it up to use it. It's some kind of law.
12:00 PM Deejay: murphys law?
12:00 PM IchGucksLive: if you can kill one with a nailer on startup it is better then using a gun
12:01 PM IchGucksLive: cause you might come up with a non guilty sentence
12:01 PM Deejay: "of cource, the 200 nails in his head... it was an accident!"
12:01 PM Deejay: *course
12:01 PM IchGucksLive: archivist why did chrdk got so mutch trouble it is so easy on his setup
12:02 PM archivist: IchGucksLive, seems a faulty bob
12:02 PM IchGucksLive: if he did wirer the pin1 to 12V shure
12:03 PM archivist: sure, the relay works
12:03 PM IchGucksLive: he got a full wirerplan like mine setups
12:03 PM IchGucksLive: and mesd up
12:04 PM IchGucksLive: archivist: you can realy blow this bobs like firercrecker
12:04 PM IchGucksLive: it spars on 24V to PC5V
12:04 PM IchGucksLive: seen personly
12:05 PM Deejay: your spelling is b0rken!
12:05 PM IchGucksLive: as akways
12:05 PM IchGucksLive: always
12:06 PM Deejay: :/
12:06 PM IchGucksLive: i need to get some new fingers
12:09 PM IchGucksLive: hi jsgrant
12:16 PM IchGucksLive: Loetmichel: convertibal in garage this weekend what a miss on the weather
12:18 PM IchGucksLive: its building up to the rainy holiday weekend
12:18 PM IchGucksLive: http://www.unwetterzentrale.de/uwz/rlpindex.html
12:18 PM Loetmichel: IchGucksLive: weakling. i will drive the convertible 500km to a friedn, repair a 120kVA genset and drive back this weekend ;)
12:19 PM IchGucksLive: hoping it is water tight
12:20 PM archivist: finished the control box on the genset today
12:21 PM IchGucksLive: archivist no smoke plum so far
12:21 PM archivist: not fired it up to test yet, does make some noise
12:28 PM MrHindsight: archivist: how big is the generator?
12:29 PM archivist: 100kw 3phase 440v
12:29 PM archivist: straight 6 engine
12:30 PM archivist: http://www.collection.archivist.info/searchv13.php?searchstr=morrison+PD
12:31 PM archivist: next image shall be running with the new displays will be lit up, real soon...
12:32 PM MrHindsight: I haven't built one since sometime in the early 90's
12:34 PM archivist: mine is from the mid 1970's, bottom of the control box was rotten and meters were dead, engine ran and it generated in January
12:36 PM MrHindsight: age was similar for the guts, bearing on one side only, used a new Chevy V8 350 crate motor
12:37 PM IchGucksLive: OH so sad mr nice guy firerd his personal assist and press office men
12:37 PM MrHindsight: ran on natural gas
12:38 PM IchGucksLive: NLG
12:38 PM IchGucksLive: cheep dangeras and short distance
12:38 PM IchGucksLive: so go for E
12:39 PM MrHindsight: IchGucksLive: it's like watching a bad reality show
12:39 PM MrHindsight: are there any good reality shows?
12:39 PM IchGucksLive: the world likes this
12:39 PM IchGucksLive: Euro up to 1,15
12:42 PM MrHindsight: archivist: how does the governor work?
12:42 PM archivist: magic, hydraulic actually
12:42 PM archivist: iirc
12:43 PM archivist: never been inside one yet
12:43 PM MrHindsight: fuel injected or carburetor?
12:43 PM archivist: deseasal!
12:44 PM archivist: nobody in the right minds uses petrol generators over here
12:45 PM MrHindsight: http://www.collection.archivist.info/showresult.php?prog=1&srcprog=searchv13.php&srcdata=title&Type=PD&Accn_no=4076&subject=13355
12:45 PM archivist: that side is air intake and exhaust
12:46 PM archivist: injector pump side http://www.collection.archivist.info/archive/DJCPD/PD/2005/2005_05_03_Generator/P4231085.JPG
12:47 PM MrHindsight: is there a bearing on the engine side of the rotor?
12:48 PM MrHindsight: the one I used had a bearing on one side only
12:50 PM archivist: never taken that apart, it is possible there is
12:50 PM MrHindsight: a series of flex plates were used to couple the rotors shaft to the engines crankshaft
12:50 PM archivist: coupling looks solid though
12:51 PM archivist: all a bit black down there and its raining
12:51 PM MrHindsight: don't poke your head in the mud for me, just curious
12:52 PM archivist: i am back indoors already
12:53 PM archivist: decisions, should I paint the rest to put it on ebay, more money or what
12:53 PM MrHindsight: bbl, have to get parts before traffic gets really bad
12:54 PM MrHindsight: do you really need it?
12:54 PM jsgrant: IchGucksLive: Oh, hi, sorry was afk.
12:55 PM archivist: MrHindsight, no I dont need it at all these days
12:55 PM IchGucksLive: jsgrant: take your time on coffeeeeeeee
12:55 PM JesusAlos: Hi
12:55 PM * jsgrant has been drinking Soylent like a futurama-man.
12:55 PM IchGucksLive: hi JesusAlos
12:56 PM IchGucksLive: JesusAlos: did your giant gantry system work
12:56 PM MrHindsight: archivist: must be worth at least $2k
12:56 PM jsgrant: People have been 'raving' about the chocolate-milk one; Tastes like shit to me... yoohoo-like; Original is a LOT better.
12:56 PM jsgrant: Next-month, all original.
12:56 PM IchGucksLive: JesusAlos: got it run here for test on closed loop and 5i25 at 12m on 0,02 precision
12:57 PM archivist: MrHindsight, it cost me less :)
12:57 PM MrHindsight: jsgrant: soylent diet to control weight or?
12:57 PM JesusAlos: I have problems on it
12:57 PM archivist: MrHindsight, why I thought it was worth some restoration for sale
12:57 PM MrHindsight: seems to be popular lately
12:58 PM jsgrant: MrHindsight: Mostly to cut liquid-sugar/fast-food & it's really easy to grab one in the morning as soon as I wake up.
12:58 PM JesusAlos: At the first, I want to configure a machine with pulse direction open loop
12:59 PM jsgrant: Have a "dedicated mini-fridge" now; Only day 4? Not all meals 3 of 5.
01:01 PM MrHindsight: archivist: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Generator-Alternator-Head-Stamford-PI144D1-21-KW-1-Phase-120-240-V-/281746197000?hash=item419961ca08:g:YsAAAOSw-W5U0O61 was similar
01:02 PM MrHindsight: flexplates are the couplings
01:03 PM MrHindsight: I had to add some spacers and then balance the whole thing
01:04 PM archivist: a baby one
01:04 PM MrHindsight: the pic yeah
01:04 PM MrHindsight: mine was you size
01:04 PM MrHindsight: you/your
01:45 PM IchGucksLive: Gn8
01:56 PM dan3wik is now known as dan2wik
02:25 PM CHRdk: Hi, Just for info, had a problem with a cheap BOB 5-axis MACH3, cut not get 0-10v to vfd output signal, put in a spare BOB and the problem gone, so I have had a bad BOB, thanks to them ho had help with troubleshooting the problem :-)
02:39 PM mrme: has anyone here expiriece with the ti instaspin as a bldc drive? this looks quite interesting
02:40 PM mrme: LeelooMinai i think i will give the ti stuff a try... the eval board doesnt cost a lot and i think this could work fine for me
03:18 PM MrHindsight: mrme: lots of used with all the bells and whistles drives on eaby for cheap
03:19 PM mrme: ?
03:19 PM MrHindsight: mrme: I forget are yours AC servo or brushless DC?
03:20 PM MrHindsight: <60V?
03:20 PM mrme: MrHindsight these are 48v bldc but vor sinusoidal drive
03:20 PM mrme: 9,3V/1000rpm 3000rpm normal 5000max so 48V
03:21 PM mrme: if im right, the difference between bldc and pmsm is trapecoil vs sinusoidal current right?
03:23 PM MrHindsight: https://www.researchgate.net/post/What_is_the_difference_between_BLDC_and_PMSM_motors
03:24 PM mrme: http://www.motioncontrolproducts.com/pdfs/elmo-apm-brushless-servo-motors.pdf
03:24 PM MrHindsight: whats the current required?
03:25 PM mrme: APM-SB02ADN2-9
03:27 PM mrme: rated rms current is 4.4Amps
03:27 PM MrHindsight: 02= 200W
03:27 PM mrme: they are made for sinusoidal current... so these are blac pmsm at your definition
03:27 PM mrme: but there are many different definitions in the net
03:27 PM mrme: yes
03:28 PM mrme: page 3 in the datasheet above
03:39 PM MrHindsight: yeah their near worthless ddtasheet
03:39 PM MrHindsight: why i don't buy elmo
03:40 PM MrHindsight: http://www.powerguru.org/wordpress/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Flux-linkage-and-back-emf-for-BLDC-and-PMSM.jpg
03:41 PM XXCoder: MrHindsight: tsk tsk slavery https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J_Y-4ox28uY
03:44 PM LeelooMinai: I just read that Game of Thrones directors consider making a TV series in an alternate timeline where confederates are the thing and slavery is legal. What can go wrong:)
03:47 PM XXCoder: why not? we have tall white castle (or something) alternate where japan and germany take usa
03:47 PM LeelooMinai: Yes, but that's not on the same level of a potential to piss peaople off in USA.
03:48 PM XXCoder: yeah though im sure some in south would LOVE to have slavery back
03:48 PM LeelooMinai: XXCoder: Is that a joke? :p
03:48 PM mrme: MrHindsight i got them allmost for free
03:48 PM XXCoder: I wish. thankfully very minority
03:49 PM LeelooMinai: XXCoder: No, I meant it the other way - I am pretty sure that huge percantage of people of south would love it, if they could get away with it.
03:50 PM XXCoder: explain a bit on other way? I may be misunderstanding
03:50 PM MrHindsight: mrme: http://www.ebay.com/itm/ALLEN-BRADLEY-2098-DSD-010-ULTRA-3000-Servo-Drive-/132203047633 or similar
03:51 PM MrHindsight: the -010 are 5A out max
03:51 PM LeelooMinai: XXCoder: I meant that there's tons of people that would embrace slavery - propably half or republicans from what I have seen:)
03:51 PM mrme: MrHindsight for buying it is not a problem... i wanted to build the drives myself
03:51 PM mrme: i wanted some inspiration
03:51 PM MrHindsight: heh, ok
03:51 PM MrHindsight: nevermind
03:52 PM MrHindsight: a bunch for $10ea
03:52 PM MrHindsight: i have to stock up
03:53 PM LeelooMinai: MrHindsight: And 2 years later you will have to us a small snow plower to make a way from you room to the bathroom.
03:53 PM LeelooMinai: us=use
03:54 PM LeelooMinai: That's how those ideas end up usually.
03:56 PM LeelooMinai: Hmm, interesting list of best free keyloggers - starts with one for $60:)
04:06 PM XXCoder: arthricyn
04:07 PM LeelooMinai: Sounds like some joint medication:)
04:07 PM LeelooMinai: Er, and it is...
04:08 PM LeelooMinai: XXCoder: Thinking it will work on CNCs too or what? :p
04:08 PM XXCoder: keylogger on cnc?
04:08 PM LeelooMinai: No, Arthricin...
04:09 PM XXCoder: huh'
04:09 PM XXCoder: guy whos joining and getting kicked out?
04:10 PM LeelooMinai: A, I have those hidden - lol, though you went insane or something:)
04:10 PM XXCoder: once a while dinging person stops the join/kick loop
04:10 PM XXCoder: not this time, just ignored guy
04:11 PM XXCoder: my anti-repeat script dont seem to be working on max sendq
04:11 PM LeelooMinai: I will install keylogger in Windows so I can see what is the code to the secret magic debug console in that solar software when the service guy TeamViews into it.
04:12 PM * LeelooMinai does the MrEvil gesture
04:12 PM XXCoder: lol
04:12 PM XXCoder: reminds me of old linux trick
04:13 PM XXCoder: put su in user's bin directory so it runs first
04:13 PM XXCoder: so it logs someone using su to fix problem
04:13 PM XXCoder: boom root access
04:14 PM MarkusBec: oh ah you can doo it
04:14 PM LeelooMinai: Sounds creative... I was not really into those hacking tricks when I was youger though:)
04:14 PM MarkusBec: or fix it properly....
04:14 PM Deejay: gn8
04:15 PM XXCoder: mark some cnc machines they dont allow you to fix stuff
04:15 PM XXCoder: software wise anyway
04:16 PM XXCoder: thats why hes talking about keyloggers, so he can have admin access
04:17 PM LeelooMinai: llol http://imgur.com/dlY3FuM
04:17 PM XXCoder: lol
04:18 PM XXCoder: btw http://cowbirdsinlove.com/comics/46/engineer.png
04:18 PM LeelooMinai: related: "Trump plans to nominate non-scientist to head science at USDA" <- I see a pattern:)
04:18 PM XXCoder: like I said before, its clear that they atually discuess "what is worse person possible for this position" and select that person
04:19 PM LeelooMinai: Weird that people do not find this maddening:)
04:19 PM SpeedEvil: I somewhat object to the term 'non-scientist'.
04:20 PM SpeedEvil: In that there are many who are formally scientists, with publication histories rife with bias and near-fraud. That doesn't make them better than non-scientists at actual science.
04:20 PM LeelooMinai: SpeedEvil: Well, "despite the fact that Clovis lacks a background in science" <-
04:21 PM LeelooMinai: So, more or less like making a poet run physics department:)
04:21 PM SpeedEvil: I note that I have donated $fewhundred this year to people working on science corruption stories.
04:22 PM LeelooMinai: You are an enabler for the crazy conspirace theories? :)
04:22 PM LeelooMinai: conspiracy*
04:22 PM XXCoder: LeelooMinai: its opposite...
04:22 PM XXCoder: hes working on anti-science corruption
04:23 PM SpeedEvil: Alas actual documented 'conspiracy'.
04:23 PM LeelooMinai: A, ok, I see - so those ones who say that scientists conspire to pretend that there's more global warming etc.
04:23 PM SpeedEvil: retractionwatch.com/2017/05/02/plos-upgrades-flag-controversial-pace-chronic-fatigue-syndrome-trial-authors-surprised/ - related.
04:24 PM LeelooMinai: 2017 is a Year of Trolls in my book - it has become one of the most powerfull professions in all fields.
04:24 PM LeelooMinai: Or The Year even
04:25 PM LeelooMinai: I mean there are professionall trolls in TV new, the president is one, almost all politicians are and whole internet is training more and more at it:)
04:26 PM LeelooMinai: The better you are at trolling people, the more chance you have at success.
04:28 PM LeelooMinai: Maybe time to introduce Counter-Trolling 101 to curricula...
04:29 PM SpeedEvil: The problem is that countering trolling requires careful attention to evidence and statistics.
04:29 PM LeelooMinai: And CTA - Counter Trolling Agency
04:29 PM SpeedEvil: It's always going to be harder than the trolling.
04:29 PM roycroft: or cursory attention, to weed out 90+% of it, speedevil
04:29 PM SpeedEvil: As you spend half an hour responding to one throwaway point copied from a list, only for them to either not debate, or to move on to the next copy-paste.
04:29 PM roycroft: most trolling is so bad that the only people who believe it are people who want to believe it
04:29 PM LeelooMinai: Right, well, "no one said it will be easy"
04:31 PM LeelooMinai: But wioth proper training, it would be pretty effective at discouraging others, since more effort would be required to succeed.
04:32 PM LeelooMinai: More effort = most people become disinterested.
04:33 PM LeelooMinai: Right now some comedians are kind of best at it. And some news people get better, but they got caught by surprise initially and failed miserably.
04:33 PM SpeedEvil: Counter-trolling by unargued rhetoric is not overall helpful.
04:35 PM LeelooMinai: Well, yes, it would only work if the numbers could be matched.
04:36 PM LeelooMinai: The most difficult is counter trolling when being outnumbered:)
04:36 PM XXCoder: minstry of truth quit. dang.
04:37 PM LeelooMinai: As long as the ministry of strange walks keeps going, it will be ok:p
04:37 PM XXCoder: lol
04:39 PM XXCoder: cows may have cure for hiv apparently
04:39 PM LeelooMinai: Damn, some retarted software/something keeps crolling the whole desktop vertically if the cursor gets out of screen... Not sure now what it is... VNC, VirtualBox or xfce...
04:39 PM XXCoder: cows immune system fights hiv so hardcore and they may find a way to make it work for humans
04:40 PM XXCoder: virtualbox does that if window is smaller thanresolution of inside os
04:40 PM LeelooMinai: But the side effect will be a lot of milk production:)
04:40 PM XXCoder: either turn scaling on or make window bigger
04:40 PM LeelooMinai: Hmm, ok, virtualbox, I will try.
04:42 PM LeelooMinai: It's driving me crazy because my mouse is on a sloped surface so when I do not hold it, it slides down and suddenly the whole screen scrolls - pretty weird.
04:42 PM XXCoder: lol
04:48 PM LeelooMinai: lHmm, it may be RealVNC not VirtualBox
04:51 PM LeelooMinai: Hmm, I think this is something to do with xfce and the virtual screens - somehow VNC sees the screen as all of them concatenated vertically...
04:54 PM LeelooMinai: Fail: I scaled it and that's what it thinks the remote screen is: http://i.imgur.com/m8bWSox.png
04:55 PM XXCoder: 12 screens
04:56 PM LeelooMinai: Right, I thought there are 4 virtual screens:)
04:56 PM LeelooMinai: Unless there is more but not visible - not sure, not really familiar with xfce too much.
04:58 PM LeelooMinai: Hmm, it's called "bump scroll" - slowed it down to 1, but cannot turn it off:/
05:07 PM LeelooMinai: RIght, and software sellers are trolls too - apparently FREE now means that it's free, but you have to biuy something from some selection of ads before you run it.
05:07 PM LeelooMinai: They will burn in hell - all of them.
05:08 PM LeelooMinai: Soon the meaning of every word will be redefined and one will have to buy new disctionaries.
05:08 PM XXCoder: geez
05:08 PM XXCoder: maybe THAT is ultimate plan lol
05:09 PM LeelooMinai: I guess "open source" will soon mean that you don't need a password to download an installer.
05:09 PM XXCoder: ah SCP on clickbaits. lol http://www.scp-wiki.net/scp-3299
05:11 PM LeelooMinai: lol @ the headlines
05:11 PM XXCoder: yeah nasty side effects. lol
05:11 PM LeelooMinai: Sad but true.
05:13 PM LeelooMinai: It is hopeless by now. I mean even sites like CNN have those as ads beneath the main content.
05:13 PM LeelooMinai: Which means that yes, people are idiots and will cick on them and they work.
05:14 PM XXCoder: yeah though not as bad as it was at peak
05:15 PM LeelooMinai: Right, but that's why I had an idea of teaching this in school - would make the whole countries better to learn how to see trolls, baits, crazy people talking, etc. than learning anything else probably:)
05:15 PM JesusAlos: Hi. Can somebody tell me the apt source line to upgrade from 2.7 to 2.8?
05:16 PM JesusAlos: I don't find it
05:16 PM XXCoder: and "how to research on internet and evalutate sources"
05:17 PM XXCoder: dunno havent tried to upgrade to 2.8
05:17 PM JesusAlos: I doing a research, but don't find it
05:17 PM LeelooMinai: JesusAlos: You need one of those classes:)
05:19 PM JesusAlos: In this link: http://linuxcnc.org/docs/devel/html/
05:19 PM JesusAlos: in 'Updating LinuxCNC' section, redirect to upgrade to 2.7
05:20 PM JesusAlos: LeelooMinai: I know
05:41 PM JesusAlos: There are a sample machine in 2.8. It names is 'gantry_mm'
05:42 PM JesusAlos: I think is a sample for do an auto-align gantry. Is that correct?
05:59 PM Tom_L: JesusAlos, i don't think there is an apt source line to 2.8 since it's still master
05:59 PM Tom_L: you _can_ download the master source though
06:12 PM JesusAlos: Tom_L: I got it already update
06:12 PM JesusAlos: thank
06:12 PM JesusAlos: Now I'm gaming with 'gantry_mm' sample machine.
06:13 PM Tom_L: JT-Shop has a video of it in action
06:14 PM JesusAlos: Yes, I saw it.
06:14 PM JesusAlos: It's an amazing feature in my opinion.
06:14 PM Loetmichel: link?
06:14 PM JesusAlos: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1OtWNuLWfwc
06:15 PM Loetmichel: nice
06:15 PM Loetmichel: that would have spared my old machine its death
06:17 PM Loetmichel: the new owner decided to drive it one-sided when one of the stepper drivers failed. and relied on the connecting timing belt that i made for syncing the gantry spindles up to transfer the power... which worked for about a month then the belt brloke and the gantry ripped itself apart... :-(
06:17 PM JT-Shop: http://linuxcnc.org/docs/devel/html/config/ini-homing.html#_home_sequence
06:18 PM Loetmichel: this machine: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-iYhICZEsCA&t=7s
06:18 PM JT-Shop: just have to put a minus sign in front of the home sequence for the gantry motors
06:20 PM * JT-Shop goes to watch the 2 legged lawn mowers at work
06:20 PM Loetmichel: http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=7086&g2_imageViewsIndex=1 <- timing belts that were meant to just "sync" the steppers...
06:20 PM JesusAlos: Is my first time in 2.8 and find several changes between 2.7 in .ini file
06:20 PM Loetmichel: http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=7074
06:21 PM JesusAlos: is a belt tensioner?
06:22 PM Loetmichel: yes
06:22 PM JesusAlos: nice
06:22 PM Loetmichel: couldnt get a long enough belt... so i made that "thing"
06:22 PM JesusAlos: good idea
06:23 PM Loetmichel: http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=7171&g2_imageViewsIndex=1 <- stepper drivers... inside the base plate
06:23 PM Loetmichel: http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=7180
06:25 PM Loetmichel: http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=4935&g2_imageViewsIndex=1 <- whole machine
06:29 PM JesusAlos: What spindle are you using?
06:32 PM Loetmichel: it was an ISEL 500W ac thre phase 2 pole that had an ER11 at the shaft
06:32 PM JT-Shop: JesusAlos: if you open a 2.7 configuration in 2.8 it gets converted auto magically
06:33 PM Loetmichel: http://www.cyrom.org/palbum/main.php?g2_itemId=7275&g2_imageViewsIndex=1 <- there it is dismantled
06:33 PM JesusAlos: you mean with stepconf and PNCconf?
06:34 PM JesusAlos: Loetmichel: 3000rpm?
06:34 PM JT-Shop: no, with the config picker ie: linuxcnc
06:34 PM Loetmichel: JesusAlos: 24kRPM
06:34 PM JesusAlos: oh, I will try to convert it.
06:34 PM Loetmichel: 400hz VFD
06:36 PM JesusAlos: Loetmichel: Is similar to your country manufacturer machines.
06:36 PM JesusAlos: in this case is a hole axis spindle
06:36 PM JesusAlos: https://www.bornemann-mb.de/en/milling-spindles/bornemann-444
06:36 PM JesusAlos: I love it
06:37 PM JesusAlos: but is incredible high expensive.
06:38 PM JesusAlos: JT-Shop: So, I only need to convert .ini file to 2.8 and add pins to create an auto-aling secuence.
06:39 PM JesusAlos: Loetmichel: May I know your brand spindle?
06:39 PM Loetmichel: JesusAlos: http://www.panamech.com.my/im/ISEL_ac_spindle.htm <- MA-2.05s
06:48 PM JesusAlos: I'm using magnetic switch and I think the hysteresis sensor are playing tricks with me.
06:49 PM JesusAlos: I will wake up early today.
06:49 PM JesusAlos: I'm go bed
06:50 PM JesusAlos: Thank for all. Have a nice night
06:51 PM * LeelooMinai is waiting for magical Chinese remote diagnostic person as the sun slowly goes down and will preclude diagnosis when the solar inverter goes off
06:51 PM LeelooMinai: Murphy tells me that he will log in just when it goes off:)
06:56 PM Loetmichel: LeelooMinai: if its still online: why do you need a diagnosis?
06:57 PM LeelooMinai: The inverter is grid-tie - it is on and tracking and producing electricity, but the modem has problems talking over RF to it.
06:58 PM LeelooMinai: BUt when sun goes off, the inverter I think goes off on the RF too.
06:58 PM LeelooMinai: So, they canno diagnose much from what I have seen.
07:00 PM LeelooMinai: I guess it could still work, since it could take pwoer from mains for the RF module, but, well, whetever - I guess it's designed to be dead when there's no solar power.
07:01 PM Loetmichel: wouldnt it make sense to have the option to remotely look for it and see its delivered power or not?
07:01 PM Loetmichel: so wouldnt it be useful if the modem stayed on as long as there is power from the mains?
07:01 PM Loetmichel: s/mains/grid
07:02 PM LeelooMinai: Yes, that's what I just wrote, but, well, yesterday it was night here and he wrote that he must do it with the sun.
07:03 PM LeelooMinai: However, when sun is here on, they sleep in China...
07:03 PM Loetmichel: catch 22 ;)
07:03 PM LeelooMinai: Right, well, not sure how it will work out:)
07:04 PM Loetmichel: get some3 big lamps and MAKE the day for him? ;)
07:04 PM Loetmichel: how big is your solar array?
07:04 PM LeelooMinai: Right, already though about it, but do not really have anything substantial.
07:05 PM LeelooMinai: Sand MIG welder:p
07:05 PM LeelooMinai: Sans
07:06 PM LeelooMinai: O, heere he goes
07:18 PM Frank_30: hi guys
07:20 PM Frankk_: tomorrow is the day folks, it all started 8/7/2015 when i set myself up to build a cnc machine. tomorrow im powering on everything, today i've finished the wiring, any advice before actually pulling the plug?
07:21 PM Frankk_: ofcourse ill check 10 times every wire is where its supposed to be before doing it, but any advice? its my first
07:30 PM LeelooMinai: Hmm, what I thought - RF somehow sucks even though there is only one wall in the way.
07:31 PM LeelooMinai: Weird, considering it's in the 4xx MHz range - I thought those are much better at going through walls than higher frequencies.
08:47 PM LeelooMinai: Hmm, I am planning a catwalk of sorts for my cat attached to deck and ponder ideas for the construction. Need some kind of round rods, like maybe those they use now in portable tents. But must be not expensive for, I don't know I guess 50 ft of this stuff.
08:48 PM LeelooMinai: I mean the catwalk will be from cedar boards, but I need to make it enclosed in screen llike on doors and it has to have some support.
08:50 PM SpeedEvil: http://clearplastictube.co.uk/100x3-1000mm-Clear-Acrylic-Tube
08:51 PM * LeelooMinai scratches the head.
08:52 PM LeelooMinai: I am kind of thinking that I may need something strong but flexible - so I can bend it into u-shape to make a "tunnel" skeleton.
08:53 PM LeelooMinai: And weatherproof - otherwise I would just use painted steel or something.
08:53 PM SpeedEvil: the appropriate grade of hardware cloth would work fine
08:53 PM SpeedEvil: just form it into a semicircle
08:53 PM LeelooMinai: The what?
08:53 PM SpeedEvil: metal cloth
08:53 PM LeelooMinai: Like a metal mesh?
08:54 PM SpeedEvil: yes
08:54 PM LeelooMinai: It has to be not-ugly and rust-proof...
08:54 PM LeelooMinai: I thought that using a delicate mesh like on doors and black would be nice.
08:54 PM SpeedEvil: https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p2380057.m570.l1313.TR12.TRC2.A0.H0.Xstainless+mesh.TRS0&_nkw=stainless+mesh&_sacat=0
08:54 PM SpeedEvil: though probably not that
08:55 PM LeelooMinai: That looks like something from fencing mask:)
08:56 PM LeelooMinai: Kind of dense...
08:56 PM SpeedEvil: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Stainless-steel-mesh-roll-fine-woven-epoxy-630mm-x-21m-approx-/292180389022
08:56 PM LeelooMinai: It's expoxy-coated?
08:59 PM SpeedEvil: yes.
08:59 PM SpeedEvil: that was just an example of stuff i found on ebay as end of roll random stuff.
09:08 PM LeelooMinai: People are idiots:) A product had given 1 star by somone and in the comment "this is not for the product, but because the search was not accurate"
09:19 PM LeelooMinai: Hmm, I wonder how think aluminum sheets like that are: https://www.lowes.ca/aluminum-tube/amerimax-20-in-x-10-ft-aluminum-roll-flashing-for-decks-chimneys-skylights-windows-roofs-doors-vents-pipes-gutters-egress-windows_g1190412.html
09:20 PM LeelooMinai: Of course they did not even specify it.
09:20 PM LeelooMinai: Could be useful for projects - did not know they sell such rolls.
09:21 PM LeelooMinai: There's weight... Maybe one is supposed to calculate thickness from volume:)
09:24 PM LeelooMinai: Hmm, then it would be 8mil - I guess possible, but seems thinnish... or not, maybe reasonable.
09:27 PM LeelooMinai: lol, I was pretty close, it is 7.8 mil
09:28 PM LeelooMinai: So, like two paper sheets.
09:37 PM LeelooMinai: Hmm, reading about metals and their resistance to corrosion for outside applications. Weird that brass is higher on the list than aluminum.
09:38 PM LeelooMinai: Somehow I have an image of brass as being covered with green stuff all over after a while.
09:40 PM LeelooMinai: I also wonder if 6mm aluminum rod can be bend in u-shape with some method without it just braking...
09:40 PM LeelooMinai: bent*
09:43 PM LeelooMinai: Seems it can be bent, but must be pre-heated with a torch or whatever.
09:44 PM SpeedEvil: no
09:45 PM SpeedEvil: you can easily bend it by hand
09:45 PM LeelooMinai: Just read that depends - T6 will break probably, but T4 is much nicer.
09:45 PM SpeedEvil: you can easily anneal it in moments
09:45 PM LeelooMinai: RIght,m but that's using heat.
09:45 PM SpeedEvil: not while bending
09:46 PM SpeedEvil: even 250c in an oven is probably fine to anneal
09:46 PM LeelooMinai: Ok, but still - you need some torch probably.
09:47 PM SpeedEvil: it is bendable by hand easily in the annealed condition
09:47 PM SpeedEvil: if you want ~100mm or so radius, even non-annealed
09:47 PM LeelooMinai: Hmm, ok, I don't even know what kind of alu the stuff those big shops like lowes sell is.
09:52 PM LeelooMinai: Found "datasheet" of the producer, lol: http://i.imgur.com/FJ8Wylp.png
11:07 PM Tom_itx: i doubt it's aircraft quality
11:27 PM roycroft: the big box stores sell recycled beer cans
11:29 PM * roycroft would not want to fly in a coors 47
