01:59 AM IchGucksLive: morning from Germany
02:02 AM IchGucksLive: what a bullrun this morning in pamplona
02:02 AM IchGucksLive: lots of realy bad people
02:02 AM Deejay: moin
02:02 AM IchGucksLive: Deejay: did you get rain this days
02:02 AM XXCoder: hey ich
02:02 AM IchGucksLive: hi XXCoder
02:02 AM IchGucksLive: im off 2 take a a small cycle tour as it is gettring to hot later
02:02 AM XXCoder: later
02:02 AM IchGucksLive: i will redo the 5axis today
02:03 AM IchGucksLive: as the position of the bobs on the cabinet is not what i want
02:03 AM XXCoder: making 5 axis cnc? nice
02:03 AM IchGucksLive: http://heimwerkermarkt-tretter.de/ef_el.jpg
02:03 AM IchGucksLive: 12 5 Axis education
02:04 AM IchGucksLive: the university got a rexroth arm system and it is realy stiff dident even belive it till i got hand on it
02:05 AM IchGucksLive: it moves like no friction at all but it is tight on teflon
02:05 AM IchGucksLive: PTFE
02:06 AM XXCoder: nice
02:07 AM IchGucksLive: http://heimwerkermarkt-tretter.de/ef_al.mpg
02:07 AM IchGucksLive: this is a animation
02:07 AM IchGucksLive: how the 12 mashines may look
02:07 AM IchGucksLive: i think we only build 6 this way
02:07 AM IchGucksLive: and go for gantry style to make som AL parts also
02:07 AM IchGucksLive: we will see
02:08 AM IchGucksLive: first run is on plan to tuesday
02:08 AM IchGucksLive: ok till later
04:15 AM archivist: rob_h, I saw your mention of stylus/probe calibration the other night, I agree
04:27 AM rob_h: yes i might have a good at writting it once i finish fitting machines out as only some simple trig etc
04:27 AM rob_h: tool setter is easy, syylus is abit longer to call and afew more things to work out
05:13 AM archivist: bah missed his reply, just went to shops
05:35 AM XXCoder: oh well
05:39 AM jthornton- is now known as jthornton
05:39 AM jthornton: morning
05:52 AM Deejay: re
05:52 AM jthornton: looks like a sunny warm weekend here
05:55 AM archivist: warm enough to go in the garage and switch on the CMM
05:55 AM jthornton: cool
05:58 AM archivist: I thought it was time to backup the files on it
06:00 AM malcom2073: Morning
06:00 AM jthornton: a good friend is coming over to show me how to frame out an opening in the metal building for an AC window unit
06:01 AM malcom2073: Nice, I framed out an unused doorway in my garage for a window unit not long ago
06:02 AM archivist: I removed the opener in a window frame, made a support, then blanked off the rest of the hole,
06:03 AM archivist: all depends on what will carry the weight
06:03 AM jthornton: the new shop is wood framed metal skin, I've never worked with metal skin
06:04 AM archivist: I jumped over the window frame with two load bearers and took the weight to floor outside and brick wall inside
07:06 AM MrSunshine: hmm anyon ehad problems with linuxcnc computer in the vecinity of a vfd or so ? getting random corrupt sectors on harddrive .. swapped drive and i still get it :/
07:06 AM XXCoder: emf?
07:07 AM archivist: MrSunshine, the answer is many people, grounding, screening etc
07:07 AM MrSunshine: archivist: everything is grounded .. tho no screening for the computer but its about 1m away from the vfd .. tho no emi filter on the vfd .. gonna add that and hope it helps somewhat :/
07:08 AM XXCoder: try build faraday cage for your computer
07:08 AM XXCoder: or maybe easier just hard drive
07:08 AM archivist: star ground, make sure you dont have common mode interference
07:09 AM MrSunshine: the computer seems to work atleast .. no hanging etc its just this problem with broken sectors .. got it again after swap, then i rebooted computer and no error from smartctl etc
07:09 AM MrSunshine: archivist: i have star ground more than that the whole backplate in the cabinett is grounded
07:10 AM MrSunshine: but all the grounds from everything goes to one common point
07:11 AM archivist: you can get induced noise, also ground loops are rather easy to get with machine and motor grounds
07:11 AM MrSunshine: archivist: well the ground terminal from all devices goes to the common point
07:11 AM MrSunshine: but like i said, the backplate is still grounded to that point also
07:12 AM archivist: a scope to see how bad it is?
07:12 AM MrSunshine: true =)
07:13 AM MrSunshine: but how do i measure that with a scope? =)
07:15 AM DaViruz: screen the computer. in my experience computer without a case are extremely unreliable
07:16 AM archivist: I had noise from the vfd excite the B axis step and dir lines
07:21 AM XXCoder: that would screw with positioning
07:23 AM archivist: so two parts to EMI, the transmission and reception (where it gets in)
07:49 AM archivist: MrSunshine, screened cables vfd to motor should help reduce transmission
07:51 AM MrSunshine: got screened for the motor but not for the power for the vfd
07:51 AM MrSunshine: one problem with screened for power is to attach the screen to gnd somewhere .. i guess the star point and its a bit from the contactor etc =)
07:52 AM MrSunshine: and screening fot he computer in the cabinett will be a pita .. in worst case ill just remove the computer from the cabinett and have it standalone .. tho i liked having it in the cabinett =)
07:57 AM MrSunshine: would isolating the harddrive from the ground maybe help with the corruption issues? that would be quite easy =)
07:57 AM archivist: hard for us to guess
07:59 AM MrSunshine: yeah .. just asked incase someone had any ideas on it =) i could try it atleast .. have the spindle running now and memtest running to see if there is memory corruption
07:59 AM MrSunshine: while vfd runs
08:00 AM archivist: more likely to get into peripheral wires
08:49 AM pink_vampire: helllo!
10:22 AM dioz: so here's the reason i wanna punch my girlfriend in the face
10:22 AM dioz: we own a house that was built in the 50's
10:23 AM dioz: after years of changes the house seems to be settling in such a manner that the floor isn't quite level in certain areas
10:23 AM dioz: as well the copper seems to have been changed and re-changed and then changed again
10:23 AM dioz: the electrical was upgraded but... not very well. there's abandon live wires in wall spaces and in the ceiling space
10:24 AM dioz: the teleposts to level the main floor have been built into the basement walls
10:24 AM dioz: AND
10:24 AM pink_vampire: I'm reading..
10:24 AM dioz: they used pink insulation then vapor barrier on the external cement walls (so i imagine there's tons and tons of mold in the insulation)
10:24 AM dioz: when we initially moved in i told her "all this will need to be fixed"
10:25 AM dioz: i intended on pulling all the copper out and re-running pex. i wanted to completely gut the basement down to the cement and do spray foam
10:25 AM dioz: i wanted to put in a new furnace and re-evaluate the duct work (the house doesn't heat properly... pretty much the bathroom and kitchen get all the heat for some reason... yes i've fucked with volume dampers)
10:26 AM dioz: now all of a sudden she wants to sell cause we got a house in a newer end of town (built in the 80's)
10:27 AM dioz: and she doesn't care about the current state of the house she just wants to get rid of it
10:27 AM dioz: now... i don't know a lot
10:27 AM dioz: i've spent 13 years of my life in IT and 3 years of my life bashing tin...
10:27 AM dioz: but my parents house was made in the 30's... and we did tons of renos on it
10:27 AM dioz: tons
10:27 AM dioz: how i think it's gonna work out is... we'll list the house... the new-potential owners will get a home inspection
10:27 AM dioz: find all the shit that's wrong with it
10:28 AM dioz: then try and dicker with the price with regards to how much they're gonna need to spend to fix all this shit
10:28 AM dioz: the wife says "we purchased it the way we did and didn't care"
10:28 AM dioz: WE PURCHASED IT WITH THE INTENTIONS OF FIXING SHIT
10:28 AM dioz: i wanna knock her teeth ouot
10:28 AM dioz: she makes me so angry sometimes
10:28 AM Tom_itx: and why do i care?
10:29 AM dioz: she doesn't wanna get the sewer inspected because she wants culpability
10:29 AM dioz: she doesn't wanna get the electrical inspected because she wants culpability
10:29 AM dioz: she jsut wants the house gone... sold... never to worry about it again
10:29 AM dioz: so she's been trying to get me to half ass certain things just to make them look better
10:30 AM pink_vampire: calm down, she is your wife!
10:30 AM dioz: Tom_itx: i never said you need to care. i never said you have to care. you can do whatever you want
10:30 AM dioz: i'm calm
10:30 AM dioz: it's just such a weird idea to me
10:30 AM dioz: i know we're gonna get dickered down hard once they do an inspection
10:31 AM pink_vampire: if there is so meany issues with the house, maybe to sell it is not a bad idea.
10:31 AM dioz: pink_vampire: thing is the market has taken a complete change from what it was 4 years ago
10:31 AM dioz: we went from a sellers market to a buyers market
10:31 AM dioz: we're gonna lose money
10:32 AM pink_vampire: i know
10:32 AM Tom_itx: dioz so why do you fill the linuxcnc channel with your personal issues?
10:32 AM dioz: i figure we're gonna lose anywhere from $15-$30k off our asking price
10:32 AM pink_vampire: how much it will cost to fix it?
10:32 AM dioz: Tom_itx: if you don't like the chats feel free to /ignore
10:32 AM dioz: pink_vampire: mostly sweat equity
10:33 AM dioz: i work for a mechanical shop... so plumbing and heating is no big deal
10:33 AM dioz: electrical i can do and get a buddy to come inspect
10:33 AM dioz: i won't touch gas
10:33 AM dioz: Tom_itx: and you should also be prepared now that ANY moment you have off topic chats
10:34 AM dioz: i will be sure to point that out
10:34 AM dioz: ;]
10:34 AM dioz: cause you remain *SO* on topic all the time
10:34 AM dioz: amirite?
10:34 AM pink_vampire: dioz: do you want to talk on the phone?
10:34 AM dioz: pink_vampire: naw i'm dandy
10:36 AM pink_vampire: if you can fix it' in a timely manner, go for it.
10:37 AM pink_vampire: dioz:
10:37 AM dioz: yah?
10:38 AM pink_vampire: I'm typing..
10:38 AM dioz: i agree entirely that if we're gonna sell it to just get rid of it... but she's holding out at the higher asking price
10:38 AM dioz: she's like "if we keep the asking price high when it comes time for them to dicker cause of the issues we'll still make good money"
10:39 AM dioz: i think the house just won't sell
10:39 AM dioz: idk... i'm so annoyed with how everything worked out. we shouldn't have purchased this house.
10:40 AM dioz: we paid it off in 3 years and i had intentions of fixing it properly
10:40 AM dioz: and now it's like "just forget about it"
10:40 AM dioz: i hate leaving projects
10:41 AM pink_vampire: the way I see it, you need to make a fixing plan for a time frame, lets say, 1 month, and see if you make your goals in that time frame. if you see that you make it, plan forward, if you can't make it, just sell it.
10:41 AM dioz: there's no plan to be made
10:41 AM dioz: essentially there is no work that is going to be done
10:41 AM dioz: first step is gutting the basement
10:42 AM dioz: once the basement is gutted i can adjust the teleposts and pull out all the abandon wires and evaluate the ducting and plumbing
10:42 AM dioz: but she gets livid when i talk about gutting the basement
10:42 AM dioz: she claims that having the "bedrooms" in the basement is a "feature" that will "keep the price high"
10:43 AM dioz: TBH i wouldn't sleep in the basement
10:43 AM dioz: it's kind of gross
10:43 AM dioz: and it smells wet
10:43 AM dioz: damp
10:43 AM pink_vampire: it is very difficult for me to type long texts here, do you have discord?
10:43 AM pink_vampire: so we can make a voice chat
10:44 AM dioz: i'm gonna go out and clean the rocks around the house...
10:44 AM dioz: i just think her ideas are odd
10:44 AM pink_vampire: look
10:44 AM dioz: her logic doesn't seem solid
10:44 AM pink_vampire: I know what she mean.
10:44 AM pink_vampire: I'm also a woman.. :-)
10:46 AM pink_vampire: she just want everything now, and the messy environment freak her out.
10:46 AM dioz: brand new homes are sold with no developed basement
10:46 AM dioz: if we fix all the problems and leave the basement undeveloped people can do whatever they want down there
10:47 AM dioz: she seems to think 3 bedrooms and a bathroom downstairs is going to make a huge difference when listing the house
10:47 AM pink_vampire: maybe you need to change the priority.
10:47 AM dioz: "we can list it as a 5 bed, 2 bath house!"
10:47 AM dioz: mind you the three bedrooms in the basement... i wouldn't sleep in
10:48 AM pink_vampire: other then the basement, you have other things that you need to fix?
10:49 AM pink_vampire: dioz: https://discord.gg/ANhbeZQ
10:49 AM SpeedEvil: dioz: https://xkcd.com/886/
10:52 AM pink_vampire: dioz: I'm in the voice channel in discord, just click on the link and join.
11:43 AM dioz: SpeedEvil: i don't get it
11:43 AM dioz: you're telling me to rent the house instead?
11:44 AM SpeedEvil: dioz: No, I was just commenting on listings in general.
11:44 AM dioz: aaah yes
11:44 AM dioz: i feel the same way
11:45 AM dioz: i know a dude about 5 blocks away from wwhere my parents live (how was built in the 30's/40's)
11:45 AM dioz: he completely gut the inside... all new everything
11:45 AM dioz: looks aboslutely amazing
11:46 AM dioz: the aera my parents live in is a trendy area amongst the artsie people and the pseudo artistic/intellectual culture
11:46 AM dioz: there's coffee shops and a few diners and a fancy old library
11:46 AM dioz: the prices in that area for a 700square foot house is insane
11:46 AM dioz: yes.. 700 square foot
11:47 AM dioz: tiny little houses but they go for a mint
11:47 AM dioz: i live just outside that area in a house that was built in the late 50's
11:48 AM dioz: there's block parties and cultural events and a play house
11:48 AM SpeedEvil: I am pondering a temporary nicely heated and insulated and serviced structure of ~64 square feet while I do renovations.
11:48 AM dioz: yah it's nice to have a clean place while doing renos
11:48 AM dioz: something not attached to the madness
11:50 AM dioz: couple built this new house about 3 blocks from my parents and the put a 18 degree spin on their basement
11:50 AM dioz: so all the houses are parallel to the street
11:50 AM dioz: their house is ever so slightly turned
11:50 AM dioz: you can see it though when you get infront of it. it looks messed
11:51 AM dioz: they paid extra for it
11:51 AM dioz: *shrug*
11:52 AM dioz: i was actually pretty surprised when i seen how much power things were using that i thought weren't using much
11:52 AM dioz: things that i thought standby mode wouldn't draw current
11:53 AM dioz: i want to make ways to turn off the house when i leave
11:53 AM dioz: change to a tankless water heater
11:55 AM dioz: drew up a gray water collection system with 2 x 600 gallon tanks...
11:55 AM dioz: to use the shower water to flush the toilet for example
12:20 PM * m0n5t3r mumbles about LED power supplies that draw 25W and convert roughly half of it into heat
12:27 PM IchGucksLive: hi all from a realy summer day in germany
12:28 PM IchGucksLive: im 5 min away from starting the new 5Achsis elektronik
12:37 PM IchGucksLive: hi boddenkreuzer
12:37 PM IchGucksLive: how is itt up in hamburg
12:51 PM samsagaz: guys, someone know if is possible to get linuxcnc running under arch linux... i just found linuxcnc-sim 2.7.8-1 and i think that just simulate the gcode..
12:52 PM archivist: samsagaz, it wont be easy you need a realtime kernel
12:53 PM samsagaz: oh :/
12:53 PM archivist: the download ISO's have that done for you
12:53 PM samsagaz: its a linux limitation? i need to run it from windows then?
12:54 PM archivist: windaz!!!! wtf hell no
12:54 PM samsagaz: :D
12:55 PM archivist: windaz has no realtime without megabucks
12:55 PM samsagaz: well is possible to install a rt kernel for arch...
12:56 PM archivist: if you have the skills else http://linuxcnc.org/docs/html/getting-started/getting-linuxcnc.html
12:57 PM samsagaz: downloading the iso...
01:15 PM CaptHindsight: samsagaz: the problem with Arch is that it's a moving target
01:16 PM CaptHindsight: the RTAI dev used to work with Arch years ago, that is why there used to be support
01:17 PM CaptHindsight: samsagaz: preempt_rt will be much easier for Arch if you decide to go that way
01:17 PM samsagaz: will test it using the iso first...
01:18 PM samsagaz: i was using mach3 under windows...
01:18 PM CaptHindsight: heh good luck
01:18 PM samsagaz: tested grbl or something like that too
01:18 PM samsagaz: its a small diy crap chinese machine :)
01:18 PM CaptHindsight: I still have mach on one machine here
01:19 PM CaptHindsight: goofy thing hit the table when it lost counts
01:19 PM samsagaz: is linuxcnc good, right? :p
01:20 PM CaptHindsight: works for me
01:21 PM CaptHindsight: I use it for custom machines that run into the $100"s of k's
01:22 PM samsagaz: you build cnc machines?
01:22 PM samsagaz: i need to start drawing mine ...
01:22 PM CaptHindsight: more flexible than http://www.heidenhain.com/en_US/products/cnc-controls/
01:23 PM samsagaz: i just want to test linux cnc because its a opensource soft
01:24 PM CaptHindsight: give it a try
01:24 PM CaptHindsight: ask questions here
01:24 PM samsagaz: sure
01:24 PM samsagaz: 910mb downloaded...
01:25 PM CaptHindsight: it will have no problem controlling your machine
01:25 PM Tom_itx: grbl is for... well i'm not sure what it's for :D
01:25 PM CaptHindsight: learning
01:26 PM CaptHindsight: how much you don't know about CNC
01:26 PM Tom_itx: or a completely homebrew cnc on an avr etc
01:26 PM CaptHindsight: but that might take some humility,so naaaahhh
01:26 PM samsagaz: well im just using a 250USD cnc kit...
01:26 PM samsagaz: just for fun...
01:27 PM pink_vampire: link?
01:27 PM pink_vampire: pic?
01:27 PM samsagaz: i have some parts *like steppers, leadshine drivers, hiwin rails) to build a bigger machine, but cant found a easy way to make the trame...
01:27 PM samsagaz: s/trame/frame
01:28 PM samsagaz: this crap :D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FihkaerckGk but is fun at least
01:29 PM samsagaz: cost a little more because i ordered with laser...
01:29 PM samsagaz: for hobby and to learn at least to use some software is OK.
01:30 PM samsagaz: but still looking for some way to make the frame... was thinking about aluminium profiles but are too expensive in Argentina..
01:30 PM samsagaz: so maybe will use welded steel tubing, with epoxy to level the axis...
01:31 PM samsagaz: really like something like this https://www.romanblack.com/CNC/01_72.jpg
01:33 PM samsagaz: brb, needs to reboog because updated the kernel...
01:33 PM samsagaz: back...
01:38 PM samsagaz: brb... let test the iso...
01:40 PM boddenkreuzer: Hi, my name is Mathias and I just try to get my hands on linuxcnc. The question of today is: what are machine units? For example in the display area in the ini file for DEFAULT_LINEAR_VELOCITY?
01:45 PM IchGucksLive: in mm/sec
01:46 PM pcw_home: it can be either inches/sec or mm/sec depending on setup options
01:47 PM boddenkreuzer_ is now known as boddenkreuzer
01:48 PM boddenkreuzer: that means, if I want my machine to go 15m/min, I habe to set DEFAULT_LINEAR_VELOCITY to 250?
01:49 PM pcw_home: yep
01:49 PM boddenkreuzer: the same idea for MAX_LINEAR_VELOCITY? 250?
01:49 PM pink_vampire: metric is much easier
01:49 PM IchGucksLive: hi pink_vampire
01:49 PM pcw_home: base 10 is stupid
01:51 PM pink_vampire: i love metric
01:52 PM pink_vampire: 0.125 vs 3
01:52 PM pcw_home: dumb human centric base, next you will want 10 hours per day...
01:52 PM pink_vampire: 0.1875 vs 5
01:52 PM IchGucksLive: boddenkreuzer: fang mit kleinen werten an lass sie erst mal 2400mm/min laufen
01:52 PM IchGucksLive: und acc mit 120
01:53 PM boddenkreuzer: I have another question about trivkins and gantry: is there any difference in XYYZ and XYZY? Of course, the number of the joint, but any other?
01:53 PM IchGucksLive: pcw_home: why does the pncconf do a full servo setup on 5i25 stepper
01:54 PM boddenkreuzer: was ist acc?
01:54 PM IchGucksLive: die beschleunigung
01:54 PM IchGucksLive: boddenkreuzer: there is no different its only the display
01:54 PM pink_vampire: boddenkreuzer: you have XYZ but you need to add a slave Y
01:55 PM IchGucksLive: the connection to the joints is the gantry goal
01:55 PM pcw_home: IchGucksLive: Because the PID based stepgen control loop is superior to the drivers built in position mode
01:55 PM CaptHindsight: IchGucksLive: pncconf is a work in progress
01:55 PM pink_vampire: of just wire the 2 motor drivers to the same pin
01:55 PM CaptHindsight: it gets you a good starting point
01:55 PM IchGucksLive: CaptHindsight: that is why users shoudent be getting the master in firsat hand
01:56 PM pcw_home: both stepper on a single axis is not good if you want gantry squaring
01:57 PM IchGucksLive: boddenkreuzer: please if you can downgread to 2.7
01:57 PM IchGucksLive: you will feel alot of benefit
01:57 PM pcw_home: IchGucksLive: master is better _if_ you want gantry squaring when homing
01:58 PM boddenkreuzer: no, I want to have the gantry homing stuff!
01:58 PM IchGucksLive: this is working also in 2.7.9
01:58 PM CaptHindsight: how square do you want/need the gantry?
01:58 PM pcw_home: No it is not
01:59 PM pcw_home: only 2.8 supports 2 switch gantry homing
02:00 PM pcw_home: (there is a gantry comp to patch around 2.7.x's limitations but 2.8 is cleaner)
02:01 PM IchGucksLive: pcw_home: ok but is messes up on the axis joints confusing people in in i
02:02 PM pcw_home: there's a script thats launched automatically to convert 2.7.x to 2.8 ini/hal files
02:03 PM pcw_home: but like you I would suggest 2.7 _unless_ you need gantry squaring during homing
02:05 PM CaptHindsight: or closed loop stepper
02:05 PM IchGucksLive: agree to all
02:12 PM boddenkreuzer: Thanks a lot for the lively discussion! I just decided to downgrade to 2.7.9 to get the machine running and hopefully I dont need to square my gantry
02:15 PM samsagaz: well wont work the live USB...
02:15 PM samsagaz: like like my laptop are not OK for live distros...
02:15 PM CaptHindsight: what happened?
02:16 PM samsagaz: give me USB errors, just works if load bootsafe
02:16 PM CaptHindsight: BIOS crap
02:16 PM samsagaz: yeah...
02:17 PM CaptHindsight: keeps your laptop safe from you
02:17 PM samsagaz: will test it in my windows box
02:22 PM CaptHindsight: just looking at Path pilot again
02:22 PM CaptHindsight: ran into a retrofit co at the Mold show last month
02:23 PM CaptHindsight: they take old Bridgeports and convert to CNC for $30-40K
02:24 PM malcom2073: There used to be a couple of guys who did that around here, they all got out of it about 10 years ago though cause the market (at least locally) dropped out
02:24 PM malcom2073: Like full time
02:24 PM malcom2073: I've thought about doing it as a hobby, just to pay for more machine tools heh
02:24 PM CaptHindsight: yeah,I don't see the market but it seems to be out there
02:24 PM malcom2073: Even retrofitting old cncs with more modern electronics
02:25 PM IchGucksLive: om off gn8
02:25 PM malcom2073: CaptHindsight: You like path pilot?
02:25 PM malcom2073: I like the idea of the conversational stuff, been meaning to give it a shot
02:26 PM CaptHindsight: I don't know enough about it yet to have an opinion
02:35 PM samsagazCNC: well works in my PC :/
02:36 PM samsagazCNC: stupid lenovo...
02:42 PM samsagazCNC: one question.. is possible to connect the cnc via USB to linuxcnc_
02:42 PM samsagazCNC: ?
02:43 PM samsagazCNC: i think that no.. right_
02:43 PM samsagazCNC: ?
02:43 PM samsagazCNC: (needs to configure the keyboard)
03:10 PM Deejay: hmm, afaik usb is not real time capable
03:14 PM m0n5t3r: USB isochronous transfers should work, but you need the hardware on the other end to use them (they are meant for predictable latency, like for audio applications)
03:15 PM m0n5t3r: the high bandwidth bulk transfers are asynchronous and not-so-predictable
03:16 PM m0n5t3r: not sure how USB-to-LPT adapters handle things
03:19 PM m0n5t3r: looks like it's doable with at least the FT232 family http://www.ftdichip.com/Products/ICs/FT232BM.htm (in one of the modes you can use it as a GPIO or a parallel bus)
03:21 PM m0n5t3r: you'd be better served by having the real-time part on the other side of the USB link, though, the bus can have latencies on the order of milliseconds
03:35 PM MarkusBec: usb is not supported
03:36 PM MarkusBec: and the handling of usb lpt adapters are different
03:36 PM MarkusBec: but you can use ethernet
03:41 PM Loetmichel: *hrhr* just drove the convertible 220km to my sister, got a haircut (by her) and drove back home. Not a single hair clipping in the collar or down the neck... 220km with an open canopy at 180kph takes care of that... also: Can confirm: cooling system of the engine is fixed. No leaks.
03:42 PM LeelooMinai: Holy cow Finland...:) http://www.cnn.com/videos/sports/2017/06/27/hobbyhorsing-finland-newest-craze-horse-equestrian-orig.cnn
03:43 PM LeelooMinai: Monty Python material:)
03:48 PM m0n5t3r: more like holy horse...
03:49 PM LeelooMinai: They say that people "up to 30yo" participate - that's just wrong:)
03:49 PM XXCoder: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=seQhTLc4nfo
03:50 PM LeelooMinai: XXCoder: ...
03:50 PM XXCoder: yeah?
03:50 PM LeelooMinai: XXCoder: Did I say it's just wrong? :p
03:51 PM XXCoder: your comment havent appeared when I hit enter lol
03:51 PM XXCoder: sometimes latency is bit high, expecially on weekends.
03:52 PM LeelooMinai: XXCoder: A, right, those 3rd world countries, like USA:)
03:59 PM Deejay: gn8
04:14 PM phipli: evening
04:27 PM JT-Shop: hey
04:27 PM XXCoder: world is flat. LOL https://youtu.be/IYvPIdlHoRA
04:27 PM XXCoder: insane.
04:31 PM LeelooMinai: XXCoder: I landed on a Flat Earth channel few days ago on YouTube - I am not surprised by anything by now:)
04:33 PM XXCoder: http://gamelab.mit.edu/games/a-slower-speed-of-light/ fun to play once
04:35 PM phipli: Beer festival in town today
04:35 PM phipli: yay
04:35 PM LeelooMinai: XXCoder: Cool idea.
04:36 PM XXCoder: yeah
04:36 PM * JT-Shop and the wife are going to the Exotic Grill tonight
04:36 PM phipli: What makes it exotic?
04:36 PM XXCoder: naked
04:37 PM LeelooMinai: They grill bananas.
04:37 PM JT-Shop: http://www.theexoticgrill.com/
04:37 PM JT-Shop: mmm sushi
04:39 PM JT-Shop: mmm bulgogi too
04:39 PM JT-Shop: but I might get the lechon kawali tonight
04:40 PM phipli: XXCoder: exotic ≠ erotic
04:40 PM XXCoder: lol
04:41 PM JT-Shop: mmm the spider roll sushi looks good
04:42 PM XXCoder: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDd8ffB8FvQ if dont wanna download to watch
04:42 PM phipli: Salmon looks good
04:42 PM JT-Shop: got the hole in the wall of the shop framed out and the J channel put up
04:42 PM JT-Shop: yes that is a good one too
04:42 PM JT-Shop: tomorrows PITA project fit the sheetmetal back up :(
04:43 PM phipli: Might do some acrylic milling tomorrow
04:43 PM JT-Shop: on the chicken door?
04:44 PM phipli: some other stuff
04:44 PM phipli: but while it is running I'll do some chicken door
04:44 PM LeelooMinai: I consulted my stomach and it says "Don't eat weird food in even weirder outside places" :)
04:44 PM JT-Shop: I did discover this morning that I was using the wrong stuff to put up a status web page
04:44 PM phipli: I've been doing some sort of sheet metal work for that this week
04:45 PM phipli: in the gaps in doing other things
04:45 PM phipli: got the mini vise sheet metal bender out to make the not a saddle for the chicken door
04:46 PM LeelooMinai: I got one of those too - 5 inches. Tested on 3mm steel and it works.
04:47 PM LeelooMinai: Had to put a round tube on the vise screw arm though to have more force though:)
04:49 PM LeelooMinai: Too much thoughs though
04:49 PM phipli: I was using 3mm alu
04:49 PM phipli: works well enough
04:49 PM phipli: main issue is the depth of the jaws on the vise
04:49 PM phipli: limits what you can do
04:49 PM LeelooMinai: Right, figured that one too - but it's 10 times cheaper than proper brake.
04:49 PM phipli: exactly
04:49 PM phipli: without it, I'd have nothing
04:49 PM phipli: something > nothing
04:51 PM phipli: I hear you can make something for thin sheet with just door hinges... not sure if it would be good enough
04:51 PM LeelooMinai: "but I am bending railroad tracks with it now"
04:51 PM JT-Shop: his whole house was full of gizmos and gagets and machines lol
04:51 PM phipli: JT-Shop: sounds like a interesting person :)
04:52 PM JT-Shop: yes I talked to him for quite a while
04:52 PM JT-Shop: http://gnipsel.com/images/press-brake/
04:52 PM phipli: LeelooMinai: 90 deg bend in one of those : http://www.docbrown.info/docspics/suttonbank/northallerton/Img_1752.jpg
04:52 PM JT-Shop: I built this 50 ton press brake for 11ga steel (0.125")
04:53 PM LeelooMinai: lol "White House Science Division Now EMPTY"
04:54 PM phipli: who needs science when you have confidence
04:54 PM JT-Shop: my partner used to say if it looks right it will work
04:54 PM LeelooMinai: Apparently there were 3 person still hanging out, but they are gone now too:)
04:54 PM phipli: JT-Shop: Only when you're smart and experienced
04:55 PM JT-Shop: common sense helps too
04:55 PM phipli: but yes, I've heard it said "often the correct answer has elegance" applies to everything from maths to casting
04:56 PM JT-Shop: that sounds british to me but elegant
04:56 PM phipli: heh
04:58 PM XXCoder: dang that game doesnt work on my linux pc
04:58 PM JT-Shop: all right I'm off to the shower to freshen up for a dinner date with my wife
04:58 PM XXCoder: later have good evening
04:59 PM phipli: My favourite quote is "when designing something to be fool proof, never underestimate the ingenuity of the fool"
04:59 PM LeelooMinai: Canibal
04:59 PM XXCoder: "upgrade your foolproof system and they upgrade the fool"
05:02 PM phipli: JT-Shop: enjoy dinner

05:10 PM andypugh: I think this is a better-tuned tractor: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pDHzK3Xe7Yw
05:11 PM phipli: there... was someone that played with a motorbike as a beat
05:11 PM phipli: who was that...
05:11 PM phipli: someone famous
05:13 PM MarkusBec: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J4NpfHpdv4E
05:15 PM andypugh: It can be done for real with an ECU. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWIwxvlWp1A (ironic that it’s a Renault)
05:16 PM phipli: I was expecting a Renault tractor
05:16 PM phipli: the bike I'm thinking of was an old single "one pop per lamppost"
05:17 PM MarkusBec: fuel to nois converter
05:20 PM phipli: as shared by someone else here : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PV2E66JNKpU
05:21 PM phipli: probably was IchGucks
05:52 PM rene-dev: andypugh: Could you reproduce that bug?
05:53 PM andypugh: Working on it.
05:53 PM andypugh: (The headless PC I use didn’t want to boot)
05:55 PM rene-dev: That's annoying. I had the same issue with my mill yesterday:D was just a dead cmos battery
05:57 PM XXCoder: dead cmos battery can cause weird crap
05:57 PM rene-dev: Im working on the stmbl firmware, so it scales in firmware
05:58 PM rene-dev: So only 4 links required in linuxcnc. Cmd, fb, fault, enable.
05:59 PM rene-dev: I wonder why tho, it should detect the corruption, and go to some sensible defaults.
06:01 PM rene-dev: And, commutation signals are working. Secondary feedback is next.
06:08 PM andypugh: Good work. (I know I was meant to be doing some of that)
06:09 PM andypugh: Well, my test setup won’t (at the moment) let me check the bug. i have a 7i80 with the 7i76x3 firmware, and a 7i76, but that firmware only has one port.
06:11 PM andypugh: So, added a 7i69.
06:11 PM rene-dev: You can make a firmware with another port
06:11 PM andypugh: Now to work out if a 7i44-style firmware with a 7i76 plugged in works.
06:12 PM rene-dev: It does not need to connect anywhere
06:12 PM andypugh: I _could_ make a new firware, I have done it in the past, but would need to install all the Xylinx stuff on this test PC.
06:14 PM rene-dev: Or just use the "mesa bitfile as a service" provided by pcw
06:14 PM andypugh: Secondary problem, smb isn’t working with this headless board.
06:16 PM andypugh: Looks like my best option is wget to the Mesa server…
06:16 PM andypugh: (Or I could spend the rest of the weekend trying to get file-sharing working)

06:30 PM CaptHindsight: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Hardinge-Spindle-S00019-12000-RPM-NEW-/201944564949 are there any better deals on spindles of this type anywhere?
06:30 PM SamSagaZ: hey guys, someone know what it means? "set maximum deviation from commanded toolpath" ?
06:31 PM CaptHindsight: how much error will you allow
06:34 PM andypugh: CaptHindsight: Depends on what you need. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Taper-BT30-Spindle-Unit-Power-Head-7-24-3000-6000-8000rpm-Drawbar-for-Drill-Mill-/192134817806?var=&hash=item2cbc20a80e:m:mB0TVZE6AeqTrwRGmEIQSAw is cheaper.
06:35 PM CaptHindsight: so cheap I could swap it out every year
06:36 PM CaptHindsight: how poor is the runout?
06:37 PM CaptHindsight: only 4hp
06:38 PM CaptHindsight: same for the bt40 version
06:39 PM andypugh: I don’t know what “4hp” means, as it is unpowered, just a casting and bearings. (but then, I think that is the same for the Hardinge ones? _
06:39 PM CaptHindsight: load rating
06:39 PM CaptHindsight: so closer to 2hp
06:40 PM CaptHindsight: I need to upgrade the matsuura 760
06:40 PM CaptHindsight: spindle is really leaking oil now
06:41 PM CaptHindsight: would like to upgrade to something 10K rpm+
06:42 PM andypugh: Might be best to fix the existing.
06:42 PM CaptHindsight: nah
06:42 PM CaptHindsight: only 6k rpm
06:43 PM CaptHindsight: needs bearings and regrind
06:43 PM andypugh: <chortle> Some of us would kill for 6k. My mill has a 1k spindle.
06:44 PM andypugh: (in cotntrast my lathe has a 3k spindle)
06:44 PM CaptHindsight: gets hot enough now to keep the pull studs from letting go
06:44 PM CaptHindsight: tool changes require 3 hands
06:45 PM CaptHindsight: tool, pry bar, unclamp button
06:45 PM CaptHindsight: http://www.ebay.com/itm/HSD-Spindle-ES988A-18HP-H6161H0328-11Kw-13-5Kw-Max-RPM-24-000-Fan-Cooled-/172759993907
06:46 PM CaptHindsight: HSK F63
06:47 PM CaptHindsight: but ~$500 for a new bt40 spindle to 8k rpm is not bad
06:49 PM CaptHindsight: air bearing spindle http://www.ebay.com/itm/WESTWIND-PRECISE-AIRBEARING-SPINDLE-MOTOR-HIGH-FREQUENCY-ADJUSTABLE-CONVERTER-/201517738887 $2500 with motor and drive

06:51 PM CaptHindsight: nice and not far from me
06:52 PM CaptHindsight: iso-40
06:53 PM CaptHindsight: andypugh: whats new with you? Any big summer project this year?
06:53 PM CaptHindsight: near-a-plane? :)
06:54 PM andypugh: Nothing big planned. I seem to mainly be working out how to repair peter tankards
06:54 PM andypugh: (pewter tankards)
06:55 PM andypugh: CaptHindsight: Can you use ISO 40?
06:55 PM CaptHindsight: I can buy a set
06:55 PM andypugh: Seems unlikely to be using a drawobar?
06:56 PM CaptHindsight: they have studs
06:56 PM andypugh: My mill was 30 INT, I made a stud-puller so then it was BT30, then scored a lot of SK30 holders, so shortened one dog to make it SK30
06:57 PM CaptHindsight: I cut mostly aluminum
06:58 PM CaptHindsight: I forget how fast the rapids on this machine can be

07:07 PM CaptHindsight: ones I have are 11"
07:07 PM pink_vampire: they look paper thin
07:07 PM Tom_itx: for a tractor? :)
07:07 PM CaptHindsight: sorry 10" long
07:07 PM CaptHindsight: printer
07:08 PM Tom_itx: what do you use em for?
07:08 PM Tom_itx: aren't those car parts?
07:08 PM CaptHindsight: build platforms and powder feeders
07:08 PM CaptHindsight: yeah
07:09 PM CaptHindsight: but where else can I buy things for $25 that get me 90% there?
07:09 PM Tom_itx: heh true, go for it...
07:09 PM CaptHindsight: aluminum pistons were $15ea
07:09 PM Tom_itx: i bet you could get used ones free
07:10 PM Tom_itx: they only run them so many passes
07:10 PM CaptHindsight: yeah, they melt pretty quick
07:10 PM Tom_itx: my friend made a pass with a cracked crankshaft
07:11 PM Tom_itx: he couldn't figure out what it was until we took it apart later

07:14 PM Tom_itx: ring lands ok?
07:14 PM Tom_itx: or do you use them
07:15 PM CaptHindsight: I use ptfe rings
07:15 PM CaptHindsight: just to keep the powder from falling through

08:19 PM Tom_itx: CaptHindsight, that's for metals?
08:20 PM Tom_itx: i've watched one at the VoTech here doing Ti
08:22 PM Tom_itx: they go thru a tremendous amount of inert gas
08:40 PM XXCoder: if we ever get fusion going we will alwaus have plenty of helium.
08:41 PM pink_vampire: hydrogen
08:41 PM XXCoder: hyrogen is not inert
08:41 PM pink_vampire: hydrogen is like helium + the cool factor :)
08:42 PM XXCoder: heh yeah but useless for say needing non-reactive gas for welding
08:42 PM pink_vampire: hydrogen is invert non-reactive gas
08:44 PM XXCoder: invert non-reactive?
08:45 PM pink_vampire: it's a on-reactive in an invert way.
08:46 PM pink_vampire: another invert non-reactive material is fluorine gas.

09:02 PM XXCoder: been spinning for 6 minutes so far lol
09:06 PM XXCoder: 11 one is little shaky
09:06 PM XXCoder: *11 min
09:08 PM malcom2073: I want a top with a magnet in it, and coils in a powered base to keep it spinning forever
09:09 PM malcom2073: Lol "satellite technology!"
09:09 PM XXCoder: left one is ver slightly shaky now
09:10 PM XXCoder: 15 min dang
09:10 PM XXCoder: right one wow shaking so much lol
09:12 PM XXCoder: wow
09:17 PM pink_vampire: how difficult is to machine phenolic laminated?
09:17 PM Tom_itx: miserable
09:17 PM Tom_itx: it's brittle

09:21 PM Tom_itx: maybe this one
09:21 PM Tom_itx: http://www.woodweb.com/knowledge_base/Cutting_Solid_Phenolic_with_CNC_Equipment.html
09:22 PM pink_vampire: my spindle is very slooow
09:23 PM Tom_itx: Depending on the shape that you are cutting, if the router doesn't get to the desired feed rate you will have to adjust your RPM. I had RPMs at 12,000 running at 250ipm, but was leaving a burn mark on the bit. Now I am running at 6250 RPM with a feed rate of 150. It seems to help considerably. Before I was getting a burn mark at the end of the bit, however that was after cutting a 5x12 3/4" phenolic sheet.
09:23 PM Tom_itx: work the math backward to suit your spindle speed
09:23 PM pink_vampire: it is abrasive?
09:24 PM Tom_itx: i think it is
09:24 PM Tom_itx: not like FR4
09:24 PM pink_vampire: fr4 is glass fibers
09:24 PM Tom_itx: we cut some but it was so long ago i don't remember the sfm
09:24 PM pink_vampire: this one is just fabric
09:41 PM CaptHindsight: Tom_itx: plastics and metals
09:45 PM XXCoder: how to lie with graphics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E91bGT9BjYk
09:54 PM pink_vampire: XXCoder: i wish I had now a machine like the one you have
09:55 PM XXCoder: cnc router? its pretty cheap
09:55 PM XXCoder: $1000 to $2000 or so
09:55 PM pink_vampire: i need to cut large pvc part
09:55 PM XXCoder: unless you go for one of those tiny $200 ones lol
09:57 PM pink_vampire: XXCoder: http://i.imgur.com/FpXSh9H.png
09:57 PM XXCoder: yeah thats something router would be best at.
09:58 PM XXCoder: honestly you could easily build one because you got a cnc mill.
09:58 PM XXCoder: order few rails of some kind, some cheap ball screws, 400w chinese spindle
09:59 PM XXCoder: few steppers nema23, tb660s, a BOB, couple psus
09:59 PM pink_vampire: i know
10:00 PM XXCoder: if ots wood only, it could be vastly cheaper than ones on market
10:01 PM pink_vampire: i need a laser cutter
10:01 PM XXCoder: cnc router + co2 laser = laser cutter
10:02 PM pink_vampire: i want something good and safe, with support
10:02 PM Tom_itx is now known as Tom_L
10:17 PM * LeelooMinai sighs
10:17 PM LeelooMinai: Murphy got me again - I finished wiring connectors, cables, etc. for the solar panels just when the sun was gone:)
10:25 PM Tom_L: hopefully it will rise again
10:26 PM LeelooMinai: I was hoping to test the microinverter. Not sure now even if it should be "alive" without sun or not - there's a led there that is red/green, but it was doing nothing.
10:28 PM pink_vampire: very interesting mouse
10:28 PM pink_vampire: http://worthingtonsharpe.com/
10:28 PM LeelooMinai: I looked into it some time ago from what I remember.
10:29 PM LeelooMinai: But I think the price is lame, so quickly got disinterested.
10:29 PM pink_vampire: now i have the logitech mx master and the space pilot pro
10:30 PM LeelooMinai: Also, as for CAD, I am now not convinced that 3d mouse would contribute much.
10:31 PM LeelooMinai: For animation maybe, virtual camera work, Blender like work, ok, but for 3D cad, I kind of concluded that it may not do much.
10:31 PM Tom_L: i don't like em for cad
10:31 PM pink_vampire: em?
10:32 PM LeelooMinai: them:)
10:32 PM pink_vampire: the space navigator?
10:32 PM pink_vampire: I love it for assemblies
10:32 PM Tom_L: https://www.vrealities.com/products/3d-controllers/spaceball-5000
10:32 PM Tom_L: similar to that
10:33 PM LeelooMinai: lol, spaceball
10:33 PM Tom_L: our lab has a bunch of em
10:33 PM Tom_L: nobody uses them
10:34 PM LeelooMinai: Problem is, imo, that you cannot beat mouse for general UI usage. So, you would have to use a 3D device like that with left hand. But that means that you can only use keyboard with your nose:)
10:34 PM pink_vampire: https://www.3dconnexion.eu/index.php?id=30&_s=nk2mafjep8l7enrrmm3aofot10
10:34 PM Tom_L: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?A=details&O=&Q=&ap=y&c3api=1876%2C%7Bcreative%7D%2C%7Bkeyword%7D&gclid=CNDD5MCb-9QCFdO1wAodpC8A8Q&is=REG&m=Y&sku=1007085
10:34 PM Tom_L: from that company
10:34 PM pink_vampire: this is the one i have
10:34 PM LeelooMinai: Or right hand if you are left-handed*
10:35 PM Tom_L: same
10:35 PM XXCoder: Tom_L: rise again lol
10:36 PM Tom_L: huh?
10:36 PM Tom_L: ahh
10:36 PM Tom_L: goin to work?
10:36 PM pink_vampire: i select the part with the mouse on my right hand, and rotate it with the space navigator on my left hand
10:36 PM XXCoder: no, your comment on hoping sun will rise again
10:36 PM Tom_L: i don't think i could get used to that with my left hand
10:36 PM LeelooMinai: You know what I would consider? A mouse, but with trackball under the thumb. I hold the mouse with fingertips though.
10:37 PM Tom_L: i'm so used to using a ball mouse with my right
10:37 PM XXCoder: LeelooMinai: you got a light source bright enough to affect solar panels? so can test that way
10:37 PM LeelooMinai: So I have thumb more or less "available"
10:37 PM LeelooMinai: XXCoder: Yes, MIG welder I guess:)
10:37 PM LeelooMinai: But I will wait till tomorrow for sun - maybe it will come.
10:37 PM XXCoder: lol yeah sun is free
10:38 PM Tom_L: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/logitech-m570-wireless-trackball-mouse-gray-blue/1260761.p?skuId=1260761&extStoreId=&ref=212&loc=1&ksid=573bd771-4d65-414d-8fb0-bea8c99e4da1&ksprof_id=8&ksaffcode=pg199041&ksdevice=c&lsft=ref:212,loc:2
10:38 PM Tom_L: i've got several of those on my pcs
10:38 PM LeelooMinai: I was wondering btw. Since the helmets use solar cells now to charge their LCD darkener - I wonder how an arc when welding compares to sun - if it's more energy for the solar cells or less.
10:39 PM Tom_L: it's still not the full spectrum
10:39 PM Tom_L: but i don't know how solar cells work
10:39 PM LeelooMinai: Since it can damage eyes, and burn skin, I suppose it has stronger UV, but maybe less infrared end.
10:40 PM LeelooMinai: I don't know, just random thought.
10:41 PM LeelooMinai: As to mice I am very picky and unfortunatelly to get a perfect mice, I would have to design my own:(
10:41 PM LeelooMinai: 1 in 100 mice on market is barely acceptable.
10:42 PM XXCoder: I love my logtech darkfield mouse
10:43 PM XXCoder: its years old now
10:43 PM LeelooMinai: Seems most people hold mice in different way - don't use just fingertips but have the hand much more forward, and this pretty much eliminates those mice for me - fail.
10:43 PM Tom_L: retina scan.. next gen mouse
10:43 PM pink_vampire: XXCoder: that one http://snpi.dell.com/snp/images2/300/en-us~A8281879r1/A8281879r1.jpg
10:43 PM XXCoder: I hold mouse by sides using finger
10:43 PM XXCoder: s
10:44 PM XXCoder: pink that is more new version but yes
10:44 PM LeelooMinai: pink_vampire: That's a strange mouse... Never saw it somehow.
10:44 PM pink_vampire: it is the same as my mouse
10:44 PM XXCoder: https://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Wireless-Performance-Mouse-Large/dp/B002HWRJBM
10:45 PM XXCoder: I paid $100 for mine lol
10:45 PM LeelooMinai: XXCoder: I cannot even say I "hold" the mouse - it's more like I guide it with fingertips:)
10:45 PM XXCoder: warranty changed twice as first 2 had wheel design flaws, third one is one I have, and are 7 years pold in least by now
10:45 PM XXCoder: easily the best mouse I ever owned
10:46 PM pink_vampire: i set the thumb wheel as the volume and the key below as the mute. and it the bet thing eveeer.
10:46 PM XXCoder: my apple alumboard keyboard is best one I ever owned too, and it is over decade old
10:47 PM pink_vampire: you mean to the slim soft aluminum keyboard?
10:47 PM Tom_L: my omnikey is at least that old
10:48 PM LeelooMinai: I have this mouse right now. It's not bad, zillions of buttons, but not perfect for me.
10:48 PM LeelooMinai: https://www.hardwareheaven.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/roccat-tyon-review-left.jpg
10:48 PM Tom_L: i've replaced a couple keytops cause i wore them off
10:49 PM pink_vampire: LeelooMinai: look very interesting
10:49 PM pink_vampire: how much it cost?
10:49 PM XXCoder: http://cdn1.expertreviews.co.uk/sites/expertreviews/files/styles/er_main_wide/public/images/dir_450/er_photo_225295.jpg
10:49 PM LeelooMinai: I wish someone made a mouse kit. Where you have a blob of something that can solidify in UV, say, and you place everything where you want (buttons, etc.) and solidify the whole thing:)
10:49 PM XXCoder: interesting
10:49 PM LeelooMinai: pink_vampire: Don't remember now, but it's, you know, kind of high-end gaming probably, so $100+.
10:50 PM XXCoder: heh yeah darkfield used to be that pricy
10:50 PM pink_vampire: XXCoder: I have that keyboard!!
10:50 PM XXCoder: but its also years old now
10:50 PM pink_vampire: I love it
10:50 PM Crom: Never name a dog 'Bucket'
10:51 PM LeelooMinai: XXCoder: Er, what is interesting... What is that abomination of a keyboard even? :)
10:51 PM XXCoder: apple keyboard. it's only thing apple I own lol
10:51 PM XXCoder: pink cool
10:51 PM XXCoder: I found I liked it when I used one a lot at college.
10:51 PM LeelooMinai: My first though is that I would just throw it out or something:/
10:51 PM XXCoder: its also very expensive lol
10:51 PM XXCoder: $100 for one :P
10:52 PM LeelooMinai: Did you see anything Apple not-expensive?
10:52 PM Tom_L: http://tinyurl.com/yb868wdh
10:52 PM Tom_L: XXCoder
10:52 PM Crom: I bought 5 of the IBM AT 102 keyboards.... They lasted me close to 10 years each... now I have to buy some more... I need usb or bluetooth ones now
10:53 PM XXCoder: Tom_L: I wish I kept mine
10:53 PM Tom_L: that's similar to the ibm one
10:53 PM XXCoder: I love those old ones too
10:53 PM LeelooMinai: First thing is that numpad to the right is fail for me: it's taking space for the mouse.
10:53 PM Tom_L: i've worn out newer ones
10:53 PM XXCoder: tom I saw pic of one that had all buttons look very shiny and melty
10:53 PM Tom_L: it still works great
10:53 PM LeelooMinai: I specifically got a keyboard without numpad.
10:53 PM XXCoder: apparently lady used it for decade+ (2 by now?)
10:53 PM Tom_L: i've replaced a couple buttons
10:53 PM Tom_L: back when you could still get em
10:54 PM XXCoder: so she literally worn though buttons.
10:54 PM LeelooMinai: I mean, what am I, a cashier to need it:)
10:54 PM Tom_L: it works good when you're entering numbers in cad
10:55 PM LeelooMinai: Yes, but if you want, you can get a separate numpad and place it in a tactical place, leaving mouse closer to your center.
10:55 PM XXCoder: I love numberpad
10:56 PM LeelooMinai: XXCoder: If you love it, I guess a keyboard with numpad on a wing floating over the mouse area would be nice - then you have both.
10:56 PM pink_vampire: https://www.harborfreight.com/8-in-5-Speed-Bench-Drill-Press-60238.html?ccdenc=eyJjb2RlIjoiNzA4NjU0OTIiLCJza3UiOiI2MDIzOCIsImlzIjoiNTQuOTkiLCJwcm9kdWN0X2lk%0D%0AIjoiOTA2NyJ9%0D%0A
10:56 PM XXCoder: hah no :P
10:56 PM LeelooMinai: In fact, then you have numpad at a better place.
10:56 PM pink_vampire: is that is a good deal?
10:56 PM XXCoder: I have one
10:56 PM XXCoder: its ok
10:57 PM Crom: http://www.pckeyboard.com/page/product/UWZBP4A
10:57 PM LeelooMinai: pink_vampire: Probably "ok, not earth-shattering", but I would get larger floor drill press.
10:57 PM XXCoder: yeah it makes holes and don't have HUGE wobble so it works
10:57 PM LeelooMinai: pink_vampire: Imo it's worth the extra price.
10:58 PM XXCoder: floor one'd be better yeah
10:58 PM LeelooMinai: And I had both a small one and now the big one.
10:58 PM pink_vampire: now I'm doing all my drilling on the g0704
10:58 PM Crom: Get a floor drill press....
10:59 PM Crom: it's a handy lathe when you need it
10:59 PM XXCoder: and sander drum with certain addons also
10:59 PM XXCoder: I was amazed on that video. with side vacuum attachment it doesnt even get dusty with use
10:59 PM Crom: sander drum on the radial arm saw
10:59 PM pink_vampire: where do you get the paper for the drums?
11:00 PM XXCoder: literal sandpaper
11:00 PM Crom: old school sanding drums just use regualer sheet paper
11:00 PM XXCoder: glue it on wood cylinder you make
11:01 PM Crom: you can get rolls of velcro backed sand paper for drum sanders
11:01 PM XXCoder: it should have metal shaft though wood disks that are glued together to make cylinder then smoothed
11:01 PM XXCoder: then glue on sandpaper
11:01 PM pink_vampire: https://www.amazon.com/WEN-6510-Oscillating-Spindle-Sander/dp/B00LPFIPPQ/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1499571036&sr=8-5&keywords=drum+sander
11:01 PM XXCoder: maybe $5 worth of stuff, literally free if you have enough scraps to make one.
11:02 PM XXCoder: pink_vampire: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7WAU12uk6Ns
11:03 PM pink_vampire: i know how to make one
11:03 PM XXCoder: dammnit thats wrong one
11:03 PM XXCoder: lemme find it
11:03 PM pink_vampire: but i want easy to replace sleeves
11:03 PM pink_vampire: and round
11:04 PM pink_vampire: without a slot
11:04 PM XXCoder: ah yes! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RYVHNFMg7DU
11:06 PM pink_vampire: XXCoder: 1:42 you can see it use slot
11:06 PM XXCoder: yeah
11:06 PM pink_vampire: it is very bad for small parts
11:06 PM LeelooMinai: XXCoder: Not bad.
11:08 PM LeelooMinai: Hmm, I wonder why YouTube has max 2x speed.
11:09 PM XXCoder: you has 2x speed?
11:10 PM LeelooMinai: Everyone has - 0.5, 0.75 normal, 1.5 and 2
11:10 PM XXCoder: no
11:10 PM LeelooMinai: Would be nice to have more options though.
11:10 PM LeelooMinai: XXCoder: What do you mean no...
11:10 PM XXCoder: youtube never had speed options that I know of
11:10 PM LeelooMinai: Er...
11:10 PM pink_vampire: it is very good for watching movies
11:10 PM LeelooMinai: They are under the gear menu
11:10 PM pink_vampire: and it is few years like that
11:11 PM LeelooMinai: XXCoder: Fail:)
11:11 PM XXCoder: wow never saw that
11:11 PM XXCoder: I use gear only for caption options
11:11 PM LeelooMinai: I watch most "technical" stuff on 2x speed:)
11:11 PM pink_vampire: it was start at 2014!!!
11:12 PM XXCoder: guy used wax or something on sand drum'
11:12 PM XXCoder: interesting
11:12 PM LeelooMinai: XXCoder: You lost probably a month of your life:)
11:12 PM XXCoder: not really I usually watch video in full anyway
11:13 PM LeelooMinai: Well, you could watch it in full in half the time.
11:13 PM XXCoder: lol
11:13 PM LeelooMinai: It's also good if someone talks sloooow.
11:14 PM XXCoder: I want to read caption and still keep up watching video lol
11:14 PM XXCoder: I read at 1,000 wpm or faster but even so
11:14 PM LeelooMinai: Is that fast? I have no idea:)
11:14 PM XXCoder: 1000 words a minute? yeah
11:15 PM XXCoder: I can finish 400 page book in a day
11:15 PM LeelooMinai: Hmm, I need to google some test for it.
11:16 PM XXCoder: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9JGmA5_unY
11:17 PM LeelooMinai: XXCoder: Well, ok, but one thing is reading it, and one way assimilating information from what you read, no?
11:18 PM XXCoder: yeah I mean read and understand
11:18 PM XXCoder: reading for reading sake is meaningless.
11:32 PM XXCoder: moron. https://www.facebook.com/Planete.delire.officiel/videos/152689291944442/
11:33 PM LeelooMinai: Fast & Funderwater
11:34 PM LeelooMinai: XXCoder: "o durak" means "an idiot" btw:p
11:35 PM XXCoder: fb translated it to "and here's idiot of the week"
11:36 PM LeelooMinai: My guess is it was one of those "gangsters" inside a black car with darkened windows, that wanted to be cool:)
11:36 PM XXCoder: well person is now opposite of cool
11:36 PM XXCoder: ignoring literal cool of water and probably cool body of death
11:37 PM LeelooMinai: Well, if he/she was a real gangster, I assume there would be a gun there, so, a chance of survival I guess.
11:38 PM LeelooMinai: O, from what I read, the driver is fine.
11:39 PM LeelooMinai: lol "The impatient driver had apparently been hoping to avoid getting stuck in a long queue, and wanted to be at the front and therefore the first out."
11:39 PM XXCoder: guys literally near front. would be maybe few cars away at nost?
11:39 PM XXCoder: unless im missing on unload procure
11:41 PM LeelooMinai: Black Lada, Ukraine - probably also too many hours playing Grand Theft Auto, etc.
11:42 PM LeelooMinai: Dangerous combination:)
11:42 PM XXCoder: dunno about game
