[06:02:02] <XXCoder> hey jthornton
[06:03:45] <jthornton> when I printed at 215/210 and above I get a string of plastic as it leaves the object telling me it's too hot
[06:04:20] <jthornton> 200/195 and 205/200 seem to be the best setting for my printer for temperature
[06:29:08] <XXCoder> http://www.scorchworks.com/Fengrave/fengrave.html
[06:29:11] <XXCoder> any good?
[06:29:19] <XXCoder> jthornton: sorry missed what you said lol
[06:29:39] <XXCoder> interesting
[07:35:23] <MrSunshine> does linuxcnc work well with hybrid stepper systems ?
[07:35:40] <MrSunshine> and how would i hook one up ? just hook the encoder to the driver and let emd just run like ordenary stepper system =
[07:35:40] <MrSunshine> ?
[07:35:55] <MrSunshine> or do i feed back the encoder signals also to linuxcnc ?
[08:10:40] <cpresser> MrSunshine: depends. if you drives close the position-loop there is no real need to feed the encoders to linuxcnc
[08:27:35] <MrSunshine> ok
[09:43:15] <JT-Shop> dang I'm impressed you can barely tell I ran over my coal hod with the truck
[09:50:03] <Jymmmm> hod?
[09:52:59] <archivist> not seen a brick hod in use for a while
[09:54:09] <archivist> never seen anyone refer to a coal scuttle as a hod before
[09:54:38] <archivist> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brick_hod#/media/File:Albert-ebenezer-fox.jpg
[10:05:27] * Jymmmm thinks jthornton musta been sipping the eggnog a little much to be running over things ;)

[11:09:45] <fl0rene> Hello guys, i need some help!
[11:09:47] <fl0rene> Sorry for may bad englisch but I have some troubles to get my joypad running as an linuxcnc pendant!
[11:09:48] <fl0rene> Today i watched this YOUTUBE-video!!
[11:09:50] <fl0rene> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnX9nG6bkvA
[11:09:51] <fl0rene> Moving the axes works great but as i tried to get a button for start&stop a loaded program i get an error every time i run
[11:09:53] <fl0rene> linuxcnc!!
[11:09:54] <fl0rene> I added this lines to my custom_postgui:
[11:09:56] <fl0rene> #gamepad program run/stop
[11:09:57] <fl0rene> net joy-run-auto input.0.btn-base4 => toggle.0.in halui.mode.auto
[11:09:59] <fl0rene> net run-link toggle.0.out => halui.program.run
[11:10:00] <fl0rene> net run-link toggle.0.out => not.1.in
[11:10:02] <fl0rene> net stop-prog halui.program.stop => not1.out halui.mode.manual
[11:10:03] <fl0rene> after restarting linuxcnc the error says "not.1.in" does not exist!!!
[11:10:05] <fl0rene> But I have no idea whats wrong with the added lines or did i miss something????
[11:10:06] <fl0rene> Thanks to all!!
[11:10:08] <fl0rene> Rene
[11:12:08] <JT-Shop> did you load not?
[11:13:39] <fl0rene> Hy JT! What do yo mean?
[11:15:09] <fl0rene> I have not loaded a file! because i cannot run linuxcnc at all!!!
[11:15:12] <Tom_L> http://linuxcnc.org/docs/2.7/html/man/man9/not.9.html
[11:17:15] <Tom_L> http://linuxcnc.org/docs/2.7/html/hal/basic-hal.html
[11:17:54] <Tom_L> you probably need to load the "not" component
[11:18:00] <fl0rene> No!! I think I have not!!!Where and how should i do this?
[11:18:08] <Tom_L> ^^
[11:20:09] <JT-Shop> http://linuxcnc.org/docs/2.7/html/hal/basic-hal.html#_loadrt
[11:20:19] <JT-Shop> http://linuxcnc.org/docs/2.7/html/hal/basic-hal.html#_addf
[11:20:28] <Tom_L> loadrt not
[11:20:33] <JT-Shop> http://linuxcnc.org/docs/2.7/html/hal/basic-hal.html#_net
[11:20:46] <Tom_L> addf not.0 servo-thread
[11:20:49] <JT-Shop> fl0rene: are you French?
[11:21:36] <fl0rene> do i have to add a line in custom_postgui?? Sorry but i am really a newbee in doing something like this in linuxcnc! until now i used qjoypad
[11:22:01] <Tom_L> i'd add it to the main .hal file
[11:22:04] <fl0rene> no, not french!! iam from austria!!
[11:23:42] <fl0rene> thanks for your help guys!! I'll give it a try!!
[11:27:39] <JT-Shop> ok, I was going to point you to the french docs but nevermind
[11:28:34] <JT-Shop> read the links I gave you, the only thing that must go in the postgui hal file are things like pyvcp
[11:30:35] <JT-Shop> Tom_L: I got the links sorted out in the logger so when you have time get the latest one and give it a whirl
[11:33:30] <JT-Shop> Tom_L: do you run your server without a keyboard and mouse?
[11:35:15] <fl0rene> no i am using mouse and keyboard too!! but i thougt a joypad would be easyer to use
[11:35:30] <Tom_L> one of them i do
[11:35:48] <Tom_L> whirls it
[11:36:26] <Tom_L> power plug and cat5 is it
[11:37:03] <Tom_L> http://linuxcnc.org/docs/2.7/html/hal/basic-hal.html#_net
[11:38:35] <Tom_L> works here
[11:38:36] <fl0rene> with the line "addf not.0 servo-thread" i get an error too!! "funktion 'not.0' not found"
[11:39:02] <Tom_L> use not.1 but you should change the others to not.0 since it's the first instance
[11:39:51] <JT-Shop> fl0rene: first you need to load the function with loadrt then you can add it with aff
[11:39:54] <JT-Shop> addf
[11:41:15] <fl0rene> sorry i missed that line!!
[11:48:04] <fl0rene> ERROR: "Pin 'not.1.in' does not exist"
[11:48:23] <fl0rene> How do I add that pin!!! Im so sorry
[11:48:54] <fl0rene> But HAL is really hard to understsand for me!!
[11:49:12] <JT-Shop> you have to add more than one not component with loadrt not count=2
[11:49:18] <JT-Shop> or more if you need more
[11:49:27] <JT-Shop> and don't forget to addf each one
[11:53:27] <fl0rene> Ok!! I think i'm getting closer now!!
