[16:18:51] <_methods> freenode :(
[16:19:25] <XXCoder> fun
[16:19:39] <_methods> it is "free" i guess
[16:19:43] <_methods> you get what you pay for
[16:19:57] <XXCoder> no thanks i dont want nodes ;)
[16:24:30] <JT-Shop-> http://gnipsel.com/images/tungsten-grinder/guides.jpg
[16:25:01] <Tom_itx> cute
[16:26:23] <JT-Shop-> the 0.041" holes 0.550" deep were fun
[16:26:43] <bman49> bleeder screws?
[16:26:58] <_methods> i just use a drill and belt sander
[16:27:12] <_methods> ah nice that's over 10xd
[16:27:23] <_methods> what kind of drill was it JT-Shop-
[16:27:37] <Tom_itx> they were made from tungsten?
[16:27:45] <Tom_itx> that's fun stuff to machine
[16:28:15] <Tom_itx> _methods, you machine tungsten with tungsten carbide or ceramic
[16:28:40] <_methods> just a belt sander
[16:28:52] <_methods> welder electrodes
[16:29:06] <_methods> i've never machined plain tungsten
[16:29:38] <Tom_itx> we did some fairly hefty wing ballast a few times
[16:29:47] <PetefromTn_> I think he is saying they are to grind tungsten not that they are made from tungsten or perhaps I am wrong
[16:30:05] <_methods> nah i'm an idiot i didn't look at the pics
[16:30:08] <Tom_itx> it sorta looked like tungsten is why i wondered
[16:30:09] <JT-Shop-> just a hss drill 118°
[16:30:20] <_methods> i just thought he was talking about grinding tungsten electrodes for welding
[16:30:29] <JT-Shop-> tungsten electrode sharpener
[16:30:37] <JT-Shop-> aye
[16:30:53] <_methods> i just use a drill and belt sander for that
[16:32:05] <PetefromTn_> yeah I do too.... only I used an angle die grinder with a 3m sanding disk and a drill
[16:44:42] <PetefromTn_> http://evsmartin.com/ I'm coming there soon baby not long now ;)
[16:54:31] <andypugh> PetefromTn_: Looks horrible :-)
[17:06:55] <PetefromTn_> andypugh I know right! Sucks to be sitting on the beach soakin' in the rays...fishing for delicious seafood. :D
[18:10:57] <_methods> jljlkj
[18:12:26] <Tom_itx> 3 key kbd?
[18:13:07] <Tom_itx> what a day... finally got my mess fixed
[18:20:31] <_methods> what mess?
[18:21:46] <JT-Shop-> did you recover everything?
[18:21:53] <Tom_itx> was backing up my business files and managed to delete them all
[18:21:59] <Tom_itx> copying over the network
[18:22:16] <Tom_itx> JT-Shop- yes i got it all back but it took a bit of doing
[18:22:29] <JT-Shop-> cool
[18:22:40] <Tom_itx> backed up on 3 pc's now
[18:22:44] <JT-Shop-> do you run dos from a usb stick?
[18:22:53] <Tom_itx> no not usually
[18:23:05] <Tom_itx> i have one old machine that dual boots it
[18:23:30] <JT-Shop-> I need to boot to dos on a machine that has a pci and pcie slot
[18:23:52] <Tom_itx> i have a thumbdrive that boots dos
[18:25:09] <JT-Shop-> that's what I need
[18:25:56] <Tom_itx> http://www.allbootdisks.com/download/iso.html
[18:26:10] <Tom_itx> lemme see if i can find the links i used
[18:26:25] <JT-Shop> ok, I'll get that in the morning
[18:28:32] <Tom_itx> http://techgage.com/article/creating_a_bootable_dos_flash_drive_the_easy_way/
[18:28:40] <Tom_itx> iirc i think i _did_ use rufus
[18:28:59] <Tom_itx> use their f
[18:29:04] <Tom_itx> 'free dos'
[18:29:12] <JT-Shop> ok got it for tomorrow
[18:29:16] <_methods> free willy
[18:29:33] <Tom_itx> do you need the mesa utilities too?
[18:29:49] <JT-Shop> no, I have them
[18:30:02] <Tom_itx> i think that last link is how i did it
[18:31:10] <enleth> Also take a look at DriveDroid if you have a rooted Android phone and don't want to carry bootable pendrives around
[18:31:33] <Tom_itx> i've always been nervous rooting my phone
[18:31:36] * JT-Shop heads inside to veg
[18:36:47] <Sync_> why Tom_itx?
[18:42:01] <SpeedEvil> http://www.bidspotter.co.uk/en-gb/auction-catalogues/tayside-machinery/catalogue-id-taysid10003/lot-3d3fe72d-e950-4ca9-a716-a5a70117a0cb - what is this?
[18:42:31] <SpeedEvil> Weatherley Gear Oil Broaching Machine
[18:42:45] <SpeedEvil> Oh
[18:42:45] <zeeshan> a broaching machine
[18:42:56] <SpeedEvil> I misparsed the name
[18:43:17] <zeeshan> SpeedEvil: thatt ype of machine
[18:43:25] <zeeshan> ive seen being used to make splines on very large shaft
[18:43:37] <zeeshan> http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_59GYpEVAu0U/S_TPpkqFUKI/AAAAAAAAAFw/SPxTD15tTQM/s1600/brchprts.gif
[18:43:40] <zeeshan> something like that
[18:43:40] <SpeedEvil> I was idly going through the list of sold stuff for things I could have afforded
[18:43:42] <zeeshan> internal splines
[18:43:49] <SpeedEvil> ah
[18:43:51] <zeeshan> it pulls on it
[18:44:01] <zeeshan> which is smart when you think about it
[18:44:15] <zeeshan> cause it's no longer subjected to buckling
[18:44:19] <SpeedEvil> http://www.bidspotter.co.uk/en-gb/auction-catalogues/tayside-machinery/catalogue-id-taysid10003/lot-07a6a177-521c-4698-bf7a-a5a7011f6a45
[18:44:21] <zeeshan> which is usually the case w/ long broaches
[18:44:28] <SpeedEvil> Some of the odder stuff seems to go for ridiculous money
[18:45:02] <SpeedEvil> gear hobber
[18:45:45] <SpeedEvil> Damn - someone stole those rotary tables.
[18:45:49] <SpeedEvil> http://www.bidspotter.co.uk/en-gb/auction-catalogues/tayside-machinery/catalogue-id-taysid10003/lot-e546abf7-9620-46d5-a485-a5b000e11958
[18:45:50] <zeeshan> pics
[18:45:55] <zeeshan> how much
[18:47:10] <SpeedEvil> http://www.bidspotter.co.uk/en-gb/auction-catalogues/tayside-machinery/catalogue-id-taysid10003/lot-07a6a177-521c-4698-bf7a-a5a7011f6a45 - if you meant the hobber
[18:47:52] <zeeshan> the rotary tables
[18:48:09] <zeeshan> i dont see a price there
[18:48:14] <Sync_> n
[18:48:43] <SpeedEvil> http://www.bidspotter.co.uk/en-gb/auction-catalogues/timed/tayside-machinery/catalogue-id-taysid10003 - oh - right
[18:48:48] <SpeedEvil> it's only on the auction page
[18:48:51] <SpeedEvil> 20 quid
[18:48:56] <zeeshan> wow
[18:49:14] <zeeshan> that is killer
[18:49:18] <zeeshan> that 4th axis
[18:49:20] <zeeshan> 440quid
[18:49:29] <zeeshan> but its gigantic :P
[18:49:51] <SpeedEvil> yeah - a lot of the crap is excellent if you have an open-topped truck, and means to offload
[18:50:04] <zeeshan> worth renting one
[18:50:18] <zeeshan> omfg
[18:50:20] <zeeshan> OMFG
[18:50:21] <SpeedEvil> True - if you're actually specifically looking.
[18:50:24] <zeeshan> ot 33 - Clarkson No.2 Tool and Cutter Grinder This machine is located .
[18:50:32] <zeeshan> 40 quid!!!!!!!!
[18:50:40] <zeeshan> those go for 3000 here
[18:51:20] <zeeshan> why are you posting this after bidding is ended
[18:51:21] <zeeshan> :{
[18:51:50] <SpeedEvil> http://www.bidspotter.co.uk/en-gb/auction-catalogues?Auctions=current - well - current
[18:51:58] <SpeedEvil> because you can't tell prices from ongoing auctions
[18:52:04] <SpeedEvil> (so well)
[18:56:40] <Loetmichel> *hmm* why is it getting hot in my pocket? ... *shuts off LED flashlight* ah, thats why... 6W cree xml... must have switched it on earlier wen searching for a thumbdrive.
[18:57:17] <SpeedEvil> :)
[19:48:11] <Tom_itx> zeeshan, we've used those broaches in a press
[20:43:38] <XXCoder> http://sploid.gizmodo.com/how-to-make-a-sword-out-of-ice-and-toilet-paper-1761265441 heh
[20:44:45] <evil_ren> needs work
[20:46:10] <XXCoder> petyke is odd material
[20:46:16] <XXCoder> it can be machined
[20:52:16] <evil_ren> its water of course it can be machined
[20:52:35] <evil_ren> its water plus machinable stuff
[20:52:44] <evil_ren> man thats gotta be some nasty swarf =\
[20:52:52] <XXCoder> actually it is far less brittle than ice
[20:52:59] <XXCoder> it could be machined like wood
[20:53:21] <XXCoder> you can see guys using sword on stuff, ice one would shatter on first hit
[21:01:05] <evil_ren> right but im saying the hardest to machine part is the ice, and ice can be machined
[21:08:03] <PetefromTn_> http://i.imgur.com/2yGDoIg.jpg From this...... http://i.imgur.com/j32aleh.jpg To this.... still a bit more work to do but it won't be long now...
[21:20:28] <Kineng64> Hello
[21:30:04] <Kineng64> Anyone on here tonight, looking for some help with a spindle controller card
[21:31:24] <XXCoder> hey
[21:31:28] <XXCoder> here but unfortuntaley I dont know that
[21:31:38] <XXCoder> ask away though
[21:32:45] <Kineng64> Basically I have a 0-10V card that is old and uses step pulses instead of a PWM. I have the code from the manufacture but it keep failing on this line: loadrt stepgen step_type=0,0,0,0,0 ctrl_type=p,p,p,p,v
[21:32:57] <Kineng64> If anyone has any ideas any help would be appreciated!!
[21:36:06] <Tom_itx> using a parallel port for it or what?
[21:38:36] <Kineng64> Ya I am waiting on a Mesa 5i and thought I would learn a little bit about what I was getting myself into as I'm not a native linux user.
[21:38:57] <Kineng64> It's connected as a single parallel port to a very simple bob to the analog voltage card
[21:40:02] <Tom_itx> i've only done the adc on the mesa cards for my sherline spindle which is also 0-10v instead of the industry standard +-10v
[21:40:28] <Tom_itx> i used a 7I47S for it iirc
[21:41:57] <Kineng64> That's what I'm noticing is this card I'm using is very old and doesn't use the new ways of controlling things. How do you like the Mesa products?
[21:41:58] <Tom_itx> they're good
[21:42:43] <Kineng64> Good deal, I think maybe I will just wait for mine to show up and start fresh. Really looking forward to Linuxcnc though, Mach has destroyed one too many customer parts!
[21:43:30] <Tom_itx> linuxcnc runs pretty well
[21:43:41] <Tom_itx> very flexible
[21:43:57] <Tom_itx> little bit of a learning curve to it but it works good
[21:45:47] <Kineng64> That's what I've read, and my PathPilot controller for my PCNC1100 works great, I'm noticing the learning curve though. seems with more flexibility you get more of a learning curve
[21:47:27] <Tom_itx> you can start with their pncconfig but you will end up configuring it manually to tweak it the way you want it
[23:33:52] <XXCoder> good read http://hackaday.com/2016/02/22/kicking-the-tires-before-you-buy-3d-printers/
[23:48:41] <yasnak> Just bought a 3D printer last week
[23:49:50] <XXCoder> any problems?
[23:49:58] <yasnak> It should show up this week
[23:50:06] <XXCoder> cool
[23:50:27] <yasnak> Not sure what the name is. I brought it up as a way to speed up the new "cartoonists" learning curve. We have some engineering issues.
[23:50:37] <yasnak> Seems they don't teach engineering in engineering school anymore
[23:52:33] <yasnak> Anyways, off topic: reading more about the iphone & apple vs fbi case. Dear god, has the US gone full retard?
[23:53:14] <XXCoder> yes.
[23:53:17] <XXCoder> actually no
[23:53:25] <XXCoder> its OVERFLOWING
[23:54:01] <yasnak> Sorry. I'm not sure if I know what you're saying
[23:55:01] <XXCoder> I'm saying that it is worse than "full retard"
[23:55:32] <XXCoder> poticitians are pouring retard into container and its full and they don't stop, and its spilling everywhere and they dont stop
[23:56:18] <yasnak> So what the hell is wrong with the population?
[23:56:27] <XXCoder> lack of education
[23:56:40] <XXCoder> there has been constant school budget cuts.
[23:56:41] <yasnak> I saw trump say to ban apple products? Are you kidding me?
[23:56:48] <XXCoder> trump the rump
[23:57:22] <yasnak> I'd invest my money in iphone if I knew the govenmnet would play nice. But they won't. They will get their way and it won't be fair. Apple is essentially in a no-win situation :?
[23:57:27] <yasnak> All of us...
[23:58:33] <XXCoder> I hate apple but they are actually fighting the good fight for privacy
[23:59:35] <yasnak> The sad part is that they admit the NSA already has many zero days they could have used but the FBI totally botched the entire thing
