[01:09:56] <RyanS> $60 for 10mm dormer button dies... are they serious
[01:18:40] <Connor> RyanS: ??
[01:24:07] <RyanS> It seems crazy expensive
[01:24:23] <Connor> what kind of button? and it died ?
[01:30:56] <RyanS> Thread cutting dies are expensive for quality, high speed steel
[01:31:43] <Connor> okay.. was confused.
[01:31:58] <Connor> Was thinking you said a button died.. and it was $60.00 to replace it..
[01:32:14] <Connor> not a die to cut one..
[02:07:38] <_DJ_> moin
[03:24:23] <Tom_itx> want a box for your bbb?
http://www.electronicproducts.com/Packaging_and_Hardware/Enclosures_Cabinets_and_Chassis/Hammond_launches_design-specific_enclosures_for_credit-card_sized_computers.aspx
[04:10:42] <Loetmichel> hmm... anyone thinks that could work to convert my chinese CNC6040 to a horizontal mill? to go though 1mm sheet steel? ->
http://www.conrad.de/ce/de/product/823389/
[04:11:26] <Loetmichel> ... the proxxon FBS 230 i use at the moment for that pourpose has simply not enough power/rigiity for the job
[04:29:51] <Loetmichel> noone awake enough to suggest something?
[05:28:31] <CaptHindsight> Thanksgiving in the US, everyone ate well and is still asleep :)
[05:42:35] <Loetmichel> CaptHindsight: and me is sitting at his desk in the company with a BAD cold... no options, work has to be done
[05:43:02] <Loetmichel> at least i can talk again today, yesterday i could only croak
[07:59:25] <Loetmichel> ok, talked with 5 companys and asked for a 90° angullar drive for the 800W chinese HF spindle... unisono result: "[nelson] HAHAHAHA[/nelson] ... above 20kg weight and SK30 we can help you. "
[07:59:28] <Loetmichel> :-(
[08:26:52] <TekniQue> Loetmichel: great stuff
[08:27:24] <Loetmichel> ?
[08:37:00] <TekniQue> why is it so difficult to fit a 90° drive to the chinese spindle?
[09:09:51] <GuShH> TekniQue: Because, it's Chinese.
[09:11:23] <TekniQue> so
[09:11:30] <TekniQue> it just has an output shaft that turns
[09:11:45] <TekniQue> surely that can be adapted to any other shaft that turns
[09:15:04] <GuShH> surely
[09:15:13] <GuShH> a coupler has to be made!
[09:15:20] <GuShH> to the machine cave! nanana
[12:07:45] <IchGuckLive> hi all
[13:12:15] <IchGuckLive> what a black friday

[13:17:17] <IchGuckLive> i know
[13:17:19] <Tom_itx> those 500 pieces probably went in the first 10 min
[13:17:52] <IchGuckLive> but the goverment shoudt have a eye on this days and behaviers the world is watching this on all continents
[13:18:12] <Tom_itx> they don't care

[13:18:29] <IchGuckLive> 1000 people O.O
[13:18:53] <IchGuckLive> and ive seen one lucky guy
[13:19:32] <IchGuckLive> walking in catching a pice as the 4 others got hand on one and walk away with a SMILE
[13:27:08] <IchGuckLive> bye for me today have a nive evening
[13:39:37] <archivist> I did see
http://www.lathes.co.uk/aciera/ a couple of F1 today .....nice toys
[13:49:33] <andypugh> I could be persuaded to find a home for one
[13:51:21] <archivist> where I got the dividing head, he had a workshop stuffed with toys
[13:52:15] <andypugh> Ah, I was guessing that you had been to see JS
[13:52:23] <archivist> his hobby seems to be workshop clearance and restore/paint and sell, with keeping the best for self
[13:52:36] <archivist> I went to JS after
[14:45:05] <archivist> if space and money did not matter

[15:02:13] <Loetmichel> archivist: btw: since i dont have a fB acc i cant see the comment yesterday ;-)
[15:02:41] <archivist> er what, neither do I
[15:05:52] <skunkworks> that looks like a shaper..
[15:06:03] <skunkworks> *planer
[15:07:48] <archivist> it's luxury goods :)
[15:08:21] <skunkworks> http://chestofbooks.com/home-improvement/workshop/Machine-Shop-Work/Planers.html#.Upj-d3iVvCI
[15:08:55] <skunkworks> we had one that we thought someday we would convert to cnc.. but alas the price of cast overtook the project
[15:09:50] <Loetmichel> archivist: oh sorry, wrong guy
[15:10:05] <Loetmichel> [23:55] <andypugh> Loetmichel: Reminds me of a Facebook comment from a friend:
https://www.facebook.com/stevie.storme/posts/771952839497616
[15:10:16] <Loetmichel> he was the one who was meant
[15:11:54] <archivist> geez that thing weighs 15 tons
[15:28:20] <FinboySlick> http://www.ebay.ca/itm/NICOLAS-CORREA-FP-30-40-BRIDGE-TYPE-CNC-VMC-VERTICAL-MACHINING-CENTER-/190720735115 <--- I need a bigger shed.
[15:29:07] <archivist> FinboySlick,
http://www.collection.archivist.info/Dads_Shed.JPG
[15:29:40] <FinboySlick> archivist: Adorable. That's a pretty nice house too, btw.
[16:15:44] <_DJ_> gn8
[16:23:38] <andypugh> skunkworks: The SIP is _not_ a planer.
[16:25:05] <andypugh> It's one of these:
http://lathes.co.uk/sip/page2.html
[16:25:15] <andypugh> everything from SIP was lovely.
[16:26:25] <andypugh> Planers are cool in a different way.
[16:31:56] <andypugh> I had a bit of a realisation just now in the workshop. I may have too much money. I was dismantling an e-bike motor that I had just bought, brand new, from eBay, with no intention of using it, just to see what was inside...
[16:36:38] <desti_> Hi! question: Tcl_SetObjResult(interp, Tcl_NewIntObj(emcStatus->motion.traj.mode == EMC_TRAJ_MODE_TELEOP)); --- condition in param or typo?
[16:46:36] <andypugh> Hard to say
[16:47:29] <cradek> I don't understand your question. can you use more words please?
[16:47:33] <andypugh> Is Tcl typed enough to tell from the function prototype whether it takes int or bool?
[16:49:59] <NickParker> hey andypugh how would I go about editing the firmware on my 6i25? It's only assigning my 3rd stepgen 2 pins instead of 4
[16:51:03] <desti_> function must set teleop mode (emcsh.cc, line 3075)
[16:51:28] <andypugh> NickParker: Ah, yes. That's awkward :-)
[16:51:57] <andypugh> There are a couple of 4-pin ones on P3?
[16:52:04] <NickParker> yeah
[16:52:06] <andypugh> (Sorry, on P2.
[16:52:13] <NickParker> and the one 2 pin one
[16:52:55] <andypugh> You need the Xilynx Webkit compiler to ake firmwares.
[16:54:23] <andypugh> It is probably simpler to ask PCW nicely for more pins...
[16:54:39] <andypugh> Is it working on the other two?
[16:55:01] <NickParker> andypugh: It was working when my .hal file only had one set up. haven't tested with 2.
[16:56:14] <desti_> Tcl_NewIntObj(intValue) but condition send "bool"
[16:58:26] <cradek> have you seen something working incorrectly that led you there?
[16:58:46] <andypugh> I think you need a newer version of the Xilinx compiler to compile for 6i25
[17:01:29] <desti_> cradek - try to run genprivkins - don't switch to teleop mode
[17:01:32] <andypugh> NickParker: If you look in the software archive for the 6i25 you will foind configs/hostmot2/source and in there is a zip file. There are vhdl files that describe the pinouts for each firmware, and I think you "only" need to edit those files and compile to make a firmware. The Xilinx complier is free, (but not Free)
[17:01:54] <cradek> what is genprivkins?
[17:02:11] <NickParker> andypugh: Where do i get the compiler? a google search only turned up something called Vivado. Is that it?
[17:02:30] <desti_> typo :) gentrivkins
[17:03:09] <cradek> ok now we're getting somewhere. gentrivkins is type KINEMATICS_IDENTITY so you can't switch to teleop mode.
[17:03:19] <cradek> what are you trying to do? back up to the beginning and explain what's wrong.
[17:04:31] <andypugh> NickParker:
http://www.origin.xilinx.com/support/download/index.html/content/xilinx/en/downloadNav/design-tools/v13_4.html
[17:06:15] <desti_> kins coord="XYYZ", in manual mode try to move axis, X-ok, Y-only one Y motor, Z -second Y motor.
[17:07:02] <andypugh> desti_: You are sure you have the joint commands wired to the correct motors?
[17:07:04] <cradek> what version/branch are you running?
[17:07:20] <NickParker> lol US exports regulations? That's quite the fancy compiler..
[17:07:40] <desti_> last joint_axes4
[17:08:34] <desti_> when i run gantrykins with that .ini all work correct
[17:09:22] <desti_> when i manually set pin halui..teleop=1 - gentrivkins work correct
[17:14:40] <cradek> hm, I'm not clear on how gentrivkins is supposed to work -- and I don't understand why you can switch to teleop with an IDENTITY kinematics
[17:17:30] <desti_> I don't understand too... but how must work this type of kins? i want to move axis in manual mode, i can't!
[17:18:01] <cradek> how are you moving it?
[17:19:44] <desti_> by buttons from keyboard
[17:19:59] <cradek> the arrow keys using AXIS?
[17:20:14] <desti_> yep
[17:51:28] <desti_> cradek:
http://www.linuxcnc.org/index.php/russian/forum/10-advanced-configuration/26854-jointaxes3-and-gentrivkins#40545 --- the same at me
[18:06:22] <desti_> andypugh: my old SIP:
http://www.chipmaker.ru/index.php?app=core&module=attach§ion=attach&attach_rel_module=post&attach_id=406615
[18:07:04] <andypugh> Horizontal spindles too?
[18:07:37] <desti_> yes
[18:15:22] <desti_> ppl, say me plz... joints != axis? why in some halui.cc function joints initialize via num_axes? for (joint=0; joint < num_axes; joint++) {} for example.. or i don't understand something?
[18:31:21] <desti_> upps.. sorry, old version of halui
[18:32:24] <andypugh> desti_: Joints=axes was an early mistake in EMC, and it is taking a long time to unravel that assumption in the code (especially as it is important to keep the code working)
[18:35:38] <desti_> now i see correct code in git source "for (joint=0; joint < num_joints; joint++)".
[18:40:19] <andypugh> I found a potential source of 250W 36V brushless motors (ideal for the Mesa 7i39).
https://plus.google.com/photos/108164504656404380542/albums/5951817748876519665
[18:40:40] <andypugh> This is my "autopsy" of an eBay electrical bicycle motor.
[18:48:04] <Tom_itx> andypugh have you done much with your bbb?
[18:48:53] <andypugh> I booted it once....
[18:49:06] <Tom_itx> heh
[18:49:50] <Tom_itx> hammond just came out with a nice little case for them
[18:50:03] <Tom_itx> same blue boxes i use
[18:50:08] <Tom_itx> just bigger
[18:50:51] <Tom_itx> are those bike motors similar to the F&P?
[18:50:57] <Tom_itx> or that other washer one you have
[18:52:40] <andypugh> Very similar, much smaller.
[18:53:34] <andypugh> Also 36V not 240V
[18:55:16] <andypugh> It comes with a really nice 3-big + 5 small cable. I wonder where that comes from? I actually have a pressing need for 3 power + 8 signal cable, but have never found any.
[19:06:34] <Tom_itx> andypugh, are all the VFIELD tied together on the 7i71?
[19:06:47] <Tom_itx> not split like the 7i84...
[19:07:56] <andypugh> I don't know, I have never used it.
[19:07:58] <Tom_itx> also, conflicting documentation says field power 8-32v and in another place in the file it says 5-28v
[19:08:06] <Tom_itx> will it run 5v logic out?
[19:08:12] <Tom_itx> oh
[19:08:22] <andypugh> It was a sample board for driver development. I know that the driver can see it..
[19:08:45] <Tom_itx> what did you use for field power?
[19:09:06] <Tom_itx> i've got VIN tied to 24v but haven't powered it yet
[19:09:16] <Tom_itx> jumpered W1 so it will power externally
[19:09:41] <Tom_itx> i _was_ gonna tie VFIELD to 5v
[19:10:06] <andypugh> Ask PCW, you get a warrantly that way :-)
[19:10:33] <Tom_itx> meh, can't hardly expect that with these :)
[19:11:57] <desti_> andypugh: you make electrical bicycle?
[19:12:22] <andypugh> No, I just bought the motor to see what was inside. I like motos
[19:13:28] <desti_> nice hobby :)
[19:16:05] <Tom_itx> andypugh what indicator will i have that it's connected to the driver?
[19:16:10] <andypugh> This is the only bicycle I ever made.
https://union.ic.ac.uk/rcc/rcsmotor/gallery/index.php/1980s/1987-1988/88-Jane/scan0003
[19:16:36] <Tom_itx> i'm testing the bit file as well
[19:25:12] <andypugh> Just found a better picture of my bicycle, and me 20+ years ago:
https://union.ic.ac.uk/rcc/rcsmotor/gallery/index.php/Unidentified/NoClue/OddsandSods9/Jane_and_A_Pugh
[19:32:53] <seb_kuzminsky> it's an nml round trip between halui and task, and bouncing around in task for a while
[19:34:06] <desti_> ridiculous bicycle.. I had such bicycle 20 years ago, but 2-seater
[19:34:41] <andypugh> I plan a 4-seater. But that will require engineering.
[19:37:17] <desti_> Sebastian: can U say something about it:
http://www.linuxcnc.org/index.php/russian/forum/10-advanced-configuration/26854-jointaxes3-and-gentrivkins#40545
[19:41:04] <seb_kuzminsky> desti_: didn't andypugh's comment address the OP's issue?
[19:43:55] <desti_> it is not my question, I found similar at a forum
[19:44:19] <andypugh> Tom_itx: My 7i71 is not showing any life at all. So I am guessing that field power is needed. Let me fiddle with jumpers (sorry for the delay, I had to reflash to a less freaky firmware)
[19:45:06] <pcw_home> The 7I71 will communicate (but not start) with no VFIELD
[19:45:30] <desti_> all ini files checked, gantrykins work, but if i switch to gentriv - problems as described in post
[19:45:44] <pcw_home> so it will fail a start command (with a undervoltage error)
[19:46:46] <andypugh> But I suspect that the 7i71 has no cable-power option?
[19:48:09] <pcw_home> No cable power option its needs VIN to communicate and valid vfield to start
[20:03:18] <andypugh> Night all.
[22:03:20] <Tom_itx> pcw_home the bitfile doesn't seem to be loading or is incorrect
[22:03:51] <Tom_itx> the .vhd and results are here:
http://tom-itx.dyndns.org:81/~webpage/cnc/configs/sherline/bitfiles/
[22:04:24] <skunkworks> you did power cycle the comptuer?
[22:04:48] <Tom_itx> powered up with 24v on vfield and vin
[22:04:56] <Tom_itx> skunkworks, since i did what?
[22:05:04] <skunkworks> flashed the 5i25
[22:05:10] <Tom_itx> i don't have a 5i25
[22:05:12] <skunkworks> oh
[22:05:26] <Tom_itx> i'm using a 7i43 with a 7i47 and a custom bit file
[22:05:32] <skunkworks> ah - never mind then
[22:05:36] <Tom_itx> :)
[22:05:48] <Tom_itx> i'm open to suggestions though
[22:06:29] <Tom_itx> i'm fairly sure the card is wired in right
[22:09:03] <Tom_itx> 7i71 RXA -> 7I47 TX0
[22:09:03] <Tom_itx> 7i71 RXB -> 7I47 /TX0
[22:09:03] <Tom_itx> 7i71 TXA -> 7I47 RX0
[22:09:03] <Tom_itx> 7i71 TXB -> 7I47 /RX0
[22:17:26] <Tom_itx> double checked the bit file is in the right directory
[23:10:51] <RyanS> http://i210.photobucket.com/albums/bb176/Mingzhus/drillpressjunctionbox_zps5b116975.jpg (junction box 3P, 415V, 1.5kw) do I have an easy VFD upgrade or a nuisance? There is no badge or labels on the motor which is a pain
[23:16:22] <dgarr> lb
