[08:25:21] <JT-Shop> morning
[08:26:58] <Tom_itx> nice sunny one
[08:30:48] <JT-Shop> high of 54F here and sunny
[08:31:43] <Tom_itx> pretty close to that here as well i believe
[08:43:41] <archivist> this want saving from the scrap fleabay 130837601588

[09:09:20] <JT-Shop> archivist: I need one like that will you deliver it?
[09:09:44] <archivist> if you stump up the cash
[09:38:07] <JT-Shop> I knew there would be a catch
[09:44:45] <archivist> :)
[09:56:18] <IchGuckLive> hi all
[10:01:13] <JT-Shop> tannerite lanucher repairs done
[10:20:17] <IchGuckLive> JT-Shop: what is this ?
[10:21:59] <JesusAlos> hello
[10:22:06] <IchGuckLive> B)
[10:23:43] <JT-Shop> launch tube http://imagebin.org/243387
[10:24:06] <JT-Shop> projectile http://imagebin.org/243388
[10:36:26] <IchGuckLive> JT-Shop: are you the rocketman
[10:49:32] <JT-Shop> dunno, but we launch the B dome up pretty high...
[10:52:44] <Jymmm> ~~~ 3D Printed AR-15 Receiver, the media = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YqzJlBcCsow , censorship, cad files = http://defcad.org/ , and websites = http://defdist.tumblr.com/post/37023487585/printed-reinforced-ar-lower-review and http://defensedistributed.com/... oh my!
[10:52:59] <Jymmm> heh
[10:53:25] <Jymmm> The megapack is 95MB
[11:03:03] <Jymmm> ve7it: Yo!
[11:03:13] <ve7it> hoho
[11:03:38] <Jymmm> ve7it: What it be like my Nanook of the north?
[11:04:32] <ve7it> well... the seal meat is on the fire.... the snow is very crusty and the woman made me a new pair of boots!
[11:05:27] <Jymmm> ve7it: Did she at least chew the hide herself to soften the boots?
[11:06:00] <ve7it> she wanted to, but has no teeth
[11:06:40] <Jymmm> Ah, yeah. But gumming it might not be so bad either, just a lil added work.
[11:07:07] <ve7it> what's happening in the tropical bay area?
[11:07:33] <Jymmm> it be 40F phucking degrees atm!
[11:07:52] <Jymmm> 71%
[11:08:12] <Jymmm> So aint so tropical
[11:08:54] <ve7it> about the same here... has been freezing at night but just barely... foggy at times... just right for black ice in the mornings
[11:09:39] <Jymmm> ve7it: The in-tank fuel pump on my 2001 Ford Expedition went out with 20gal in it. No tools , even the pump is expensive, and can't even cut an access hatch
[11:10:04] <ve7it> but it has been a warm winter so far... ice on the pond only a couple of mornings... it can get up to 3 or 4" during a cold snap
[11:10:38] <Jymmm> Too cold for me either way
[11:11:04] <ve7it> 2001... hmm does it have an anti syphon screen?
[11:11:15] <Jymmm> Yeah
[11:12:19] <Jymmm> I even thought about ADDing an external pump, but the ppl I called said that they don't think there will be enough free flow from the extisting dead pump
[11:12:30] <ve7it> I wonder if you popped a fuel line in the engine compartment if you could pump out the tank through the broken pump
[11:12:42] <ve7it> great minds!
[11:13:15] <Jymmm> Well, I'm not talking pumping out, just prevent from having to drop the tank.
[11:13:21] <ve7it> is it a plastic or metal gas tank?
[11:13:40] <Jymmm> Besides I have no place to put 20gal, and 4x 5gal cans would cost 480
[11:13:45] <Jymmm> plastic
[11:13:56] <Jymmm> $80
[11:15:23] <ve7it> pay the dealership... they will happily engage the beast, but you might need a second job
[11:16:16] <Jymmm> Dealer wants $1100, KBB is $3500. 1/3rd of the ost of the vehicle, FOR A FUEL PUMP!? A mech pump is $26 and two bolts.
[11:16:22] <Jymmm> cost
[11:17:09] <Jymmm> The CHEAPEST pump I can find is $100, plus another $20 for a new strainer
[11:19:55] <ve7it> modern cars are not meant to be repaired... it pisses me off.... the new diesels have so much extra crap added, that they are no longer a simple reliable engine... the new Dodge truck exhaust is $8000 and one of the the local dealerships has 14 stolen off the lot in 1 night
[11:20:23] <Jymmm> the cats?
[11:21:17] <ve7it> some combo of cats and particulate burners.... an expensive substitute for a 4" piece of pipe
[11:21:48] <Jymmm> That's too bad, Since the cost of the fuel pump repair is so much, I'm looking at buying another car and fix this when it warms up instead.
[11:22:33] <Jymmm> I considered a small diesel pickup, but really know nothing about them today. smog checks, easy to repair, etc
[11:22:41] <ve7it> Easy to steal from a new truck... the bolts aren't even rusty 2 bolt flange and 1 slip joint
[11:22:59] <Jymmm> heh
[11:23:28] <Jymmm> We had a thing like that happening around here too, but in ppl's driveways
[11:25:34] <ve7it> There is something to be said about getting an older vehicle and doing a frame up restoration... one would know every part of the vehicle and be able to get it going for a long time
[11:25:56] <ve7it> keep it going...
[11:25:57] <Jymmm> Yeah, pre-smog crap years too
[11:26:33] <Jymmm> I think 1975 for Calif
[11:26:50] <ve7it> 1929 ford roadster... I like the gangster car look
[11:27:28] <Jymmm> Mercury, shaved and lowered... Like Jesse James' one.
[11:27:44] <Jymmm> Gawd I love the look of that thing
[11:28:00] <Jymmm> AND add suicide doors =)
[11:28:11] <ve7it> fuel injection is nice, but a lot pricier to fix than a carb kit...
[11:28:41] <Jymmm> True, and I kinda like the coil-on-plug
[11:29:19] <Jymmm> I still want to slap whoever thought of IN-TANK furl pump.
[11:29:25] <Jymmm> fuel
[11:29:58] <Jymmm> 12yo car and the cheapest pump is $100.... come on
[11:30:41] <ve7it> move the tank to the roof rack and use gravity!
[11:31:19] <Jymmm> LOL, 1) That STILL means I have t drop the damn tank! 2) Needs at least 80PSI
[11:31:53] <Jymmm> 80-100 PSI and iirc 40GPH flowrate
[11:33:05] <Jymmm> ve7it: Make an electric car with a propane (actually tri-fuel) generator as the power source.
[11:33:39] <Jymmm> ve7it: All the lovely torque of electric plus the smog exemptions of propane!
[11:34:30] <Jymmm> Hmmm, how does the "heater" in a hybrid car work with no radiator?
[11:34:43] <Jymmm> or electric car, whatever
[11:36:14] <ve7it> electric heat and a/c.... maybe not bad where you are, but it would really kill electrics in really cold or really hot climates
[11:36:37] <Jymmm> ah
[11:37:02] <Jymmm> well maybe I could add liquid cooling to the generator
[11:37:50] <ve7it> recovering exhaust heat may be enough
[11:38:09] <ve7it> aka old vw beetles
[11:38:23] <Jymmm> True. Not sure about AC though
[11:38:40] <ve7it> they also had a gasoline fired heater
[11:38:50] <Jymmm> really?
[11:39:11] <ve7it> maybe just a tiger torch aimed at the windshield
[11:39:28] <Jymmm> Not sure if I'd want a propane fired heater in a car, but I have one running behind me right now =)
[11:40:16] <Jymmm> ve7it: On a 20LB tank... http://www.mrheater.com/product.aspx?catid=41&id=24
[11:40:40] <ve7it> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvWN4CVbAuM
[11:42:17] <JT-Shop> we used a milk jug on a corvair for a fuel tank once
[11:43:34] <Jymmm> JT-Shop: heh
[11:45:48] <Jymmm> ~~~ Refill 1LB disposable propane tanks, it works pretty good, but I freeze them for 24h and set the 20LB tank in the sun http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Q2Jhbbmnos&feature=player_detailpage#t=6s
[11:46:42] <Jymmm> I also use a postal scale and weight the bottles before and after filling them.
[11:48:38] <Jymmm> Wrench tighten the adapter to the 20LB tank, and hand tighten the 1LB bottles when filling them. They DO make a popping sound when removing them though =)
[11:56:15] <IchGuckLive> hi all B)
[12:05:29] <archivist> retrofit project in Kent fleabay 130834554368
[12:17:43] <JT-Shop> nap time
[12:18:00] <IchGuckLive> take a big one
[13:22:28] <IchGuckLive> have a nice weekend where ever you are BY
[14:39:40] <tjb1> What is the command that shows parallel port addresses again?
[14:41:04] <gene__> lathe, G7 in effect. Is X HOME_OFFSET in diameter, or radii?
[14:42:21] <mrsun> wth .. rust 10mm bellow the surface of steel ...
[14:42:28] <mrsun> alot of big pores of rust
[14:42:33] <skunkworks> I don't think G7 effects homing.. So it should always be in radii
[14:43:01] <skunkworks> lspci -v
[14:43:39] <gene__> No wonder my adjustments aren't hitting the target, thanks
[14:44:36] <tjb1> skunkworks: there was another command that I used before that worked better
[14:45:18] <tjb1> Found it - cat /proc/ioports
[14:47:00] <tjb1> That only shows 1 parport though…lspci -v is showing I/O ports at 1000 and 1008
[14:49:27] <tjb1> skunkworks: Got any tips here?
[14:59:44] <skunkworks> sorry..
[15:00:13] <skunkworks> maybe ask on the forum..
[16:15:52] <DJ9DJ> gn8
[18:28:53] <JT-Shop> sorry no sound but it went over the moon http://gnipsel.com/tannerite/P1010049.MOV
[18:31:26] <Jymmm> gunpowder charge?
[18:31:36] <JT-Shop> tannerite
[18:31:51] <JT-Shop> if you download and watch at double you can see it come down
[18:34:12] <Jymmm> ~~~ JT-Shop Over the moon rocket video 20130119 http://v6.tinypic.com/player.swf?file=t8aon6
[18:34:51] <JT-Shop> awesome
[18:35:19] <Jymmm> JT-Shop: Go get you a TinyPic account, it's free.
[18:36:03] <Tom_itx> wondered what that noise was a while ago :)
[18:36:40] <JT-Shop> my wife said it shook the house and we were a 1/4 mile away
[18:37:56] <JT-Shop> 1/2 lb of tannerite per shot
[18:40:52] <JT-Shop> left a divot http://imagebin.org/243443
[18:42:03] <Tom_itx> all the neighbor kids come out to play?
[18:42:14] <JT-Shop> http://imagebin.org/243444
[18:42:35] <JT-Shop> just the 4 mousekteeres
[18:44:22] <JT-Shop> the launch vehicle does need some repairs after the last launch
[19:39:33] <cradek> 49000 messages have gone through the emc-users list
[19:40:07] <Jymmm> ... 48999 were spam.
[19:40:39] <mhaberler> the jerk limiter doesnt work, looks like a low hanging fruit
[19:41:59] <cradek> snrk
[19:46:56] <pcw_home> I'll try the index thump test Monday I will have to jury-rig a limit switch
[19:48:10] <cradek> thanks!
[19:48:22] <cradek> remember it only thumps the first time you home
[19:48:36] <pcw_home> I also noticed D is still enabled in the dead zone i wonder if this is intentional or not
[19:49:24] <pcw_home> (not related to you patch)
[19:49:30] <pcw_home> your
[19:49:45] <cradek> I don't know
[19:50:25] <cradek> have you ever seen deadband work to make a machine settle down at stop? I've only seen it increase the amplitude of the jitter
[19:51:16] <pcw_home> Its really a mixed blessing (and causes weird artifacts when in motion)
[19:51:59] <cradek> in my experience (velocity mode only) it seems like only a curse
[19:52:27] <pcw_home> No use in velocity mode
[19:52:38] <cradek> deadband makes the oscillation at rest larger amplitude, offset changes its frequency
[19:52:45] <pcw_home> Yes
[19:52:51] <cradek> only with careful offset adjustment you can get it to almost stop
[19:53:14] <pcw_home> In torque mode what would be better would be a zone of lower gain
[19:53:29] <cradek> interesting idea
[19:54:10] <cradek> on the theory that somewhat less discontinuity (but still some) is a win?
[19:54:30] <pcw_home> the problem with torque mode is that with reasonable gains you get maybe 5% full torque with one encoder count
[19:55:01] <pcw_home> so that one count is quite a step
[19:55:01] <cradek> that's a lotta torque to oscillate with
[19:55:12] <pcw_home> Yeah
[19:56:09] <pcw_home> Also the ability to use slight lydifferent tuning for when ~stopped would be nice
[19:59:38] <pcw_home> well and output scale (currently there are as many ways to get the feedback direction correct as there are output devices) pid.out_scale would make this settable in one place
[20:00:52] <pcw_home> (for all devices)
[20:16:14] <rlockwood> I'm trying to add a button, or preferably add an m-code to cause the camview-emc plugin to save an image-- anyone able to point me in the correct direction?
[20:18:24] <tjb1> Tom_itx: You here?
[21:31:08] <ReadError> http://pbs.twimg.com/media/BBBSr6GCEAAOXfH.jpg:large
[21:31:14] <ReadError> latest cnc creation
[21:31:27] <tjb1> That real cf?
[21:33:02] <ReadError> yea
[21:33:20] <tjb1> You make it yourself?
[21:33:25] <ReadError> the cf?
[21:33:26] <ReadError> nah
[21:33:32] <ReadError> i got the CF sheet from mcmaster
[21:45:25] <toastyde1th> that's some class work
[21:45:50] <toastyde1th> my old machine shop was big on aesthetic finish, most shops aren't
[21:45:57] <toastyde1th> that's classy shit right there
[21:47:43] <Jymmm> I just saw that on ebay for $3 + free shipping.
[21:48:57] <Tom_itx> original batmobile #1 just went on barret jackson for 4.2 million
[22:34:13] <tjb1> I can not find an address for this card :(
[22:55:59] <Tecan> http://www.arctablet.com/blog/featured/ubuntu-12-10-quantal-now-runs-on-mk808-ug802-rk3066-based-mini-pcs/
[23:12:57] <Tecan> would that run linux emc ok ?
[23:13:09] <Tecan> 1.6 ghz with quadcore gpu duno what
[23:13:53] <Tecan> oh right its missing a printer port
[23:13:57] <Tecan> shit
[23:14:28] <Tom_itx> you can use pci
[23:14:39] <Tom_itx> with a mesa card
[23:19:18] <Tecan> hmmm
[23:20:08] <Tecan> would wifi be able to keep up with the speed needed to machine ?
[23:20:23] <Tecan> i mean network cable
[23:20:24] <Tom_itx> that's a silly idea
[23:20:32] <Tecan> canbus works
[23:20:41] <Tom_itx> wifi would be unreliable
[23:20:52] <Tecan> you can get those arduino boards that have a network port on them
[23:21:08] <Tom_itx> i wouldn't trust my fingers to that
[23:21:38] <Tecan> pc card <---> network card <--> driver board
[23:22:11] <Tecan> yeah sounds like alot of fuss
[23:22:29] <Tecan> i know people were looking for alternatives to usb
[23:24:11] <tjb1> Id be happy getting the address to my parport card lol
[23:34:59] <Tecan> Enhanced Parallel Port (EPP) is a half-duplex bi-directional interface designed to allow devices like printers, scanners, or storage devices to transmit large amounts of data while quickly being able to switch channel direction. EPP can provide up to 2 MByte/s bandwidth, approximately 15 times the speed achieved with normal parallel-port communication with far less CPU overhead.
[23:35:07] <Tecan> lol dont want that
[23:53:32] <JesusAlos> Hi
[23:56:05] <Tecan> Tom_itx is this what you ment ? http://pcmciatousbadapter.net/
[23:56:17] <Tecan> then a card to go into it
