[00:07:22] <tjtr33> and misumi
[01:31:09] <archivist> s1dev, the better rotary tables have adjustment
[01:32:02] <Jymmm> Anchorage AK = 38F, Napa CA = 33F WTH?!
[01:52:10] <Valen> damn http://www.challengecoinsrus.com/coin-pricing.htm/
[01:52:13] <Valen> thats pretty cheap
[01:52:19] <Valen> I really must look into casting
[01:52:26] <Valen> or do you think those are stamped?
[01:52:43] <toastydeath> no way those are stamped for those prices
[01:52:48] <toastydeath> die cast
[01:53:10] <Valen> filling in 7 colours though is pretty dang decent
[01:53:21] <Valen> that must be CnCed somehow
[01:55:07] <Valen> yeah, they have hollow bits too
[01:55:17] <Valen> how hard would die-casting be in the home shop?
[01:55:35] <toastydeath> i've never seen anyone attempt die casting
[01:57:45] * Valen knows little of it
[01:58:18] <toastydeath> you have an actively heated/cooled mold steel die
[01:58:24] <toastydeath> and you inject metal into it, like plastic injection
[01:58:42] <toastydeath> usually a low melting point thing that won't stick to your alloy
[02:00:14] <toastydeath> the gating and all that shit is convoluted because it's metal, you can't just be like "oh hey it's flexible"
[02:04:47] <Valen> does look like rather a lot of screwing about
[02:07:57] <Valen> put that one into the too hard basket methinks
[02:11:49] <DJ9DJ> moin
[03:31:04] <Loetmichel> mornin'
[05:03:21] <DearLeader> hello linux cnc
[05:03:33] <DearLeader> I just bought a CNC myself (a shapeoko), and i did the basic hello wold thing
[05:03:46] <DearLeader> but i have no idea what to do with it, do you guys know any tutorials/
[05:06:40] <DearLeader> anyone?
[05:07:15] <cpresser> DearLeader: tutorial for what task?
[05:07:47] <DearLeader> Cpresser
[05:08:05] <DearLeader> I want to do pcbmilling mostly, but i just found out i can use this CNC to do pretty much anything
[05:08:40] <DearLeader> I just began with a sharpie mrker and drew a hello world
[05:08:52] <cpresser> take a look at pcb2gcode
[05:09:24] <Valen> Also look at whats involved in holding the PCB perfectly flat
[05:09:27] <Valen> think vaccume
[05:09:29] <cpresser> and this one: http://phk.freebsd.dk/CncPcb/
[05:11:37] <DearLeader> what about other things
[05:11:41] <DearLeader> i was recommende the cadcam
[05:11:45] <DearLeader> cambam
[05:11:48] <DearLeader> something like that
[05:15:53] <jthornton> DearLeader, http://gnipsel.com/linuxcnc/index.html
[08:44:53] <JesusAlos> hi
[08:45:04] <JesusAlos> wht's the last revison of linuxcnc?
[08:46:28] <JesusAlos> I installed 2.5.1
[08:47:07] <JesusAlos> Is the last version?
[09:01:01] <cpresser> its the latest stable release. see here: http://www.linuxcnc.org/
[10:09:46] <IchGuckLive> hi all B)
[10:10:12] <JT-Shop> hi
[10:10:46] <IchGuckLive> O.O ice snmow cold Brrr
[10:14:57] <JT-Shop> pretty cold here too but no snow
[10:16:32] <IchGuckLive> someone lives in oregon how is the wether there
[10:50:55] <JesusAlos> But where I can find the beta versions?
[10:51:10] <JesusAlos> or unnoficial
[10:51:18] <JT-Shop> beta of?
[10:55:39] <JesusAlos> higger version of 2.5.1
[10:55:44] <JesusAlos> beta of linuxcnc
[11:01:56] <kwallace> Up to LinuxCNC 2.6 is available here: http://git.linuxcnc.org/gitweb?p=linuxcnc.git;a=summary . Hints on installing and using the source is here: http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?Installing_LinuxCNC .
[11:04:58] <mrsun> hmm how the heck strong would antibacklash nuts on a mill be ?
[11:05:33] <mrsun> i cannot move the table by hand when i have it tightened to not rock ... but the motor does it without a problem ... an antibacklash nut is supposed to push the table towards one side of the threads right ?
[11:08:38] <kwallace> I would think of it as two equal nuts, one for each direction. On acme screws, any preload from adjusting the nuts will create a lot of friction. The only practical solution is to use ball screws.
[11:09:31] <mrsun> ye but do not want to throw alot more money on this little mill :/ so hoping on some cheaper homebrew solution =)
[11:09:41] <mrsun> using backlash comp in linuxcnc atm
[11:09:52] <mrsun> works quite nice but table can move due to cutting forces
[11:17:14] <kwallace> That's the problem with having that feature available, it gives people the impression that it solves backlash problems. The only way to get rid of backlash is to get rid of the source. There are other low friction roller type screw systems, but they take up more room. When I get time, I'd like to try making ball screws for a no or low cost solution, then use screw error compensation to to fix position errors.
[11:19:02] <mrsun> kwallace, yeah but ballscrews are "expensive" etc .. specialy if there is limited room and you have to go for miniature =)
[11:20:48] <kwallace> Some people have made Delrin nuts or filled nuts with Turcite or Moglice to lower the acme friction.
[11:40:23] <ReadError> nice
[11:40:30] <ReadError> ordered a locline vac setup ;)
[11:41:59] <jdh> I have some for holding my underwater video camera/light
[11:53:41] <IchGuckLive> Hi all
[12:13:13] <mrsun> now that gib seems to be an improvement .. from like 0.5mm contact to the gib. . on the dge of it to 5mm contact
[12:14:56] <mrsun> but how to hold a thin gib for scraping :/
[13:36:46] <IchGuckLive> by B)
[13:49:38] <syyl> mrsun
[13:49:55] <syyl> mill a slot in a piece of wood
[13:50:00] <syyl> press fit for the gib
[13:50:04] <syyl> perfect :)
[13:50:22] <syyl> takes 5min to make
[13:50:31] <syyl> but makes live so much easier
[13:56:07] <mrsun> but how to get it out for respotting? :P
[13:56:17] <mrsun> or use the wood piece for respotting also ?
[14:03:13] <syyl_ws> press fit was not the correct term
[14:03:15] <syyl_ws> just snug
[14:03:30] <syyl_ws> so you can put it in and take it out with the fingers
[14:20:58] <mrsun> oki, finding it hard to getting it spotted also ... uneven preasure :/
[14:38:27] <Mr_Wolfsl> Mr Cradek Thanks for your help I succeeded to loopback the axis W for the kinematics. Thanks again
[14:38:38] <cradek> yay
[14:41:28] <Mr_Wolfsl> the column W in the tooltable is just for the gui
[14:54:10] <Jymmm> http://elrellano.com/videos_online/4624/circo-roncalli.html
[15:12:21] <ReadError> http://atlanta.craigslist.org/sat/tls/3542824292.html
[15:12:32] <ReadError> is that atlas a decent deal?
[15:12:36] <ReadError> looks like its in good shape
[15:54:50] <Tom_itx> that's the bigger version of mine
[16:16:00] <DJ9DJ> gn8
[16:26:22] <ReadError> PCI 'training' is such a joke
[16:26:52] <ReadError> You receive an instant message from a person called Claudio Kabila informing you that he needs your help to retrieve money that is currently kept in a trust deposit vault in Dubai. He will give you $10,000 to help him. What should you do?
[16:26:52] <ReadError> Offer to help in any way you possibly can; $10,000 is too much money to pass up.
[16:26:52] <ReadError> Reply to Mr. Kabila via IM and ask him for more information before proceeding.
[16:27:02] <ReadError> Ignore the scam. You know if it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.
[16:27:02] <ReadError> Google the name Claudio Kabila to ensure he is not affiliated with a scam.
[16:27:40] <t12> haha yes
[16:27:46] <t12> i had to do through some pci online test
[16:27:49] <t12> for some merchant account
[16:27:58] <t12> it consisted of an infinite try multiple choice test
[16:28:03] <t12> until they said ok you're compliant!
[16:28:29] <ReadError> yea im doing this for work
[16:32:44] <JT-Shop> Yea! the relay has arrived
[16:33:21] <Valen> ok, so pidgin-skype plugin is rather unstable
[16:43:30] <tjb1> Hmm, life in the US is about to get interesting
[16:45:00] <ReadError> guns?
[16:45:08] <tjb1> I hope the president does push that bill through using his power, I am curious to see what happens
[16:45:40] <ReadError> what bill?
[16:45:40] <tjb1> The whole senate, congress and government will get changed real fast ;)
[16:46:13] <tjb1> I just read that Biden was going to Obama with proposals that they say he will just enact himself
[16:46:32] <t12> gun control thing?
[16:46:35] <tjb1> Yeah
[16:47:04] <Valen> i figure its probably not going to make much of a difference
[16:47:11] <ReadError> whats the bill?
[16:47:16] <ReadError> ban high capacity mags?
[16:47:41] <tjb1> NY already pushed one through
[16:47:51] <t12> announcement about a future announcement of a measure
[16:48:07] <tjb1> congress is nothing but greedy scumbags
[16:48:14] <tjb1> they dont care what the people that elected them say
[16:48:24] <ReadError> so i just got paid for 43hrs overtime
[16:48:30] <ReadError> cnc router time?
[16:48:34] <Valen> ReadError: so what you buying me?
[16:48:36] <ReadError> ;)
[16:48:44] <ReadError> Valen: just good vibes
[16:48:56] * Valen already got a "good vibe"
[16:49:05] <Valen> best thing for a relationship let me tell you that ;->
[16:49:10] <ReadError> better vibes :)
[16:49:52] <t12> i wonder what they'll actually propose
[16:49:55] <Valen> sweet
[16:50:01] <Valen> i should really repair that
[16:50:23] <Valen> I don't know what they could do in the USA wrt guns, they just like killing each other too much
[16:51:40] <tjb1> What I like is Pennsylvania at least has a State Game Commision
[16:51:46] <tjb1> They buy land for hunting
[16:51:58] <tjb1> I'm sure other states have something similar
[16:54:49] <t12> http://www.reuters.com/news/pictures/slideshow?articleId=USRTR3CGH2#a=1
[16:54:53] <t12> check out that weirdness
[16:55:11] <tjb1> That doesn't matter
[16:55:19] <tjb1> too many people in congress worrying about $$$$$$
[16:57:30] <t12> i remember reading an article a while ago
[16:57:33] <t12> i wish i could find it again
[16:57:42] <t12> which more or less said that the two political angles are
[16:57:55] <t12> last dish effort not to crashland the whole nation
[16:58:18] <t12> and the try as best a landing as possible
[16:58:21] <t12> i phrased that totally wrong
[16:58:36] <t12> it came down to a doubledown or accept that its over gracefully
[16:59:22] <Valen> I think america needs to realise it has finished its growth due to population growth and work out how to be stable
[16:59:35] <Valen> grow through productivity increases, not more people
[17:00:37] <Valen> australia is in the same boat (or at least should be, we are heading for a wall, stupid politicians)
[17:00:40] <t12> population control is pretty hard
[17:01:04] <Valen> in .au it'd be pretty simple, reduce inbound immigration from ~250k per year to 150k
[17:01:05] <t12> theres def not going to be productivity increases here
[17:01:13] <t12> current new workforce generation isnt that good
[17:01:17] <t12> and the next one likely wont be either
[17:01:42] <tjb1> I know how to fix congress, lower the salary to around $50k
[17:01:43] <t12> the main thing the US needs to do is accept that most people arent gonna be 'productive members of society'
[17:01:48] <t12> and adjust accordingly
[17:01:53] <Valen> I think there could be if rather than everybody working to scrape the minimum out and then dispose of it people worked on stuff that was going to last a lifetime
[17:02:05] <t12> and by arent going to be, i mean shouldnt even be expected to be
[17:02:30] <tjb1> the countries that have been on top for a while will never expand when places like china ignore all rules
[17:02:30] <Valen> I had an alternate system of government for my space station
[17:02:31] <t12> its really hard to beat replacement economics
[17:02:38] <t12> i think the problems are mainly political/cultural
[17:02:43] <t12> esp regarding economy and jobs
[17:02:57] <tjb1> The US cant compete with China because they don't follow the rules we do
[17:03:23] <tjb1> They dont care about emissions
[17:03:29] <tjb1> or wages
[17:03:32] <Valen> basically communism doesn't work and capitalism doesn't either the only answer is a mix of both. I suggest that "taxes" be paid in the form of community service
[17:03:45] <Valen> actually tjb1 china is doing more "green" work than the USA
[17:03:51] <Valen> roughly on par with .eu
[17:04:08] <Valen> they are throwing hundreds of billions into forrests/nature and green power
[17:04:52] <tjb1> I bet the factories dont
[17:05:23] <tjb1> Foxconn and the others keep getting in trouble for child labor
[17:05:32] <Valen> back to my economics. Basically people should spend the equivalent of 1 day a week doing work on infrastructure and food generation, in return you are given a basic house/apartment, food and internet. If you want more stuff go do your really rather free market stuff
[17:05:54] <Valen> child labour is a different kettle of fish
[17:06:11] <tjb1> If they are breaking child labor, do you think they are following any of the other laws?
[17:06:21] <tjb1> They are whole campuses
[17:06:32] <Valen> oh probably
[17:06:41] <Valen> they are improving though
[17:06:46] <DaViruz> they can print nice brochures saying they do
[17:07:01] <tjb1> They are improving because places like Apple and Samsung are forcing them :P
[17:07:01] <DaViruz> maybe even invite a tv team to some model city
[17:07:05] <Valen> mainly because the govt doesn't like the workers getting poisoned by dumping crap into the rivers
[17:07:35] <Valen> they are also firing up more nuke plants than anybody else, germany the daft bastards are planning on shutting all theirs down
[17:07:40] <Valen> that will do wonders for Co2
[17:08:05] <DaViruz> that was a real setback :/
[17:08:14] <tjb1> Ive bought stuff on ebay with free shipping where they paid more to ship it than I paid for the item….explain that
[17:08:22] <DaViruz> we decided back in 1988 to shut down ours though so i can't really complaine
[17:08:26] <Valen> tjb1: called a loss leader
[17:08:32] <DaViruz> we haven't actually done so yet though..
[17:08:41] <Valen> I'm hoping thats what happens DaViruz
[17:08:42] <t12> yeah china ebay is amazing
[17:08:57] <tjb1> But this is ebay
[17:09:06] <t12> the counterargument regarding emissions though
[17:09:11] <tjb1> They sell nothing but garbage, I dont see how that can lead to a sale of better products from them
[17:09:23] <t12> is that really, most leading nations were just as shitty to the environment
[17:09:36] <t12> but now that they're on top, they want to cut competition out via env sanctions
[17:09:40] <Valen> perhaps you are over estimating the cost of the good and underestimating the cost of the postage
[17:09:52] <Valen> didn't some river in USA catch fire not that long ago?
[17:10:10] <t12> i think the reality is noone is going to control 7b peoples emissions
[17:10:23] <t12> we'll burn every drop of oil we can get our hands on, until we cant
[17:10:28] <Valen> I really need to pull my finger out and invent fusion power
[17:11:30] <tjb1> t12: thats not what I am saying though, not talking about the environment so much as the fact that companies in the US, Europe and other areas have to be compliant with the emission laws where I bet most of them in China aren't following so they are making product cheaper than anywhere else
[17:11:40] <tjb1> The US will never improve when it is like that
[17:11:42] <t12> oh
[17:11:42] <t12> yeah
[17:11:44] <t12> totally
[17:12:03] <t12> any nation that voulntarily follows those rules will be at least temporarily at a disadvantage
[17:12:19] <Valen> there are moves to count foreign emissions on products for sale locally
[17:12:34] <t12> how?
[17:12:42] <t12> no way this toy totally zero emissions
[17:12:47] <t12> how do you validate that as an importer
[17:12:50] <Valen> the onus is on the supplier
[17:12:56] <Valen> prove it
[17:13:06] <t12> heres a peice of paper
[17:13:09] <t12> that says zero emissions
[17:13:18] <t12> heres a vial of nice fresh air
[17:13:26] <Valen> no worries
[17:13:35] <t12> i'm just saying what keeps them from just lying
[17:13:38] <Valen> well we sent our inspectors back along your supply chain and you lied
[17:13:38] <t12> and how could anyway tell
[17:13:40] <t12> anyone
[17:13:45] <Valen> so heres a nice jail for you
[17:14:06] <t12> you think china is going to jail their people based on another nations import rules?
[17:14:16] <Valen> you don't jail the chinese
[17:14:22] <Valen> you jail the USA people
[17:14:29] <t12> _lol_
[17:14:34] <t12> we dont put people in jail
[17:14:41] <t12> unless its for drugs or minor crime
[17:14:46] <Valen> over 1% of your population is in jail
[17:14:47] <tjb1> The US doesnt even kill people with death sentences
[17:14:59] <t12> also if youre black or mexican
[17:15:02] <t12> you can totally go to jail
[17:15:02] <tjb1> because of dirty lawyers
[17:15:07] <t12> if you just stole money or broke rules thats ok
[17:15:26] <tjb1> There is guy whole killed 3 people locally 18 years ago
[17:15:38] <tjb1> Everytime he is sentenced for death, his lawyer gets him a stay
[17:15:44] <cevad> Depends who you stoke the money from
[17:15:48] <tjb1> He just got a stay 2 weeks ago
[17:15:49] <t12> true
[17:16:07] <t12> i'm down with just lifing people
[17:17:00] <t12> and theres always this:
[17:17:01] <t12> http://www.innocenceproject.org/Content/The_Innocent_and_the_Death_Penalty.php
[17:17:38] <tjb1> Well take the one that have been proven and get rid of them
[17:17:40] <t12> the giant pile of situations like that is justification enough not to death penalty people
[17:17:51] <t12> the point is that the processes is error prone
[17:17:57] <t12> so just err towards not accidently executing people
[17:18:13] <Valen> I reckon the whole point of jail is wrong
[17:18:17] <t12> also once their dead, you cant un-execute them
[17:18:24] <t12> you can let someone out of prison for life
[17:18:25] <Valen> putting somebody in a box full of criminals won't fix it
[17:18:39] <t12> jails are useful, they just run them weird
[17:18:46] <t12> there are some people you dont want in normal society
[17:18:47] <Valen> they need to basically join the army
[17:18:49] <tjb1> Many of them in jail are taken care of better than when they werent in jail
[17:18:50] <t12> they just need to be somewhere else
[17:18:52] <Valen> just without the guns
[17:19:04] <Valen> my "jail system" works thusly
[17:19:42] <Valen> step 1 you go into criminal town, drugs and anything goes, we will air drip rice and vitamin pills into criminal town
[17:19:43] <tjb1> Why do people in jail need cigarettes or tv or even have the ability to be at the gym all day?
[17:19:54] <t12> why not?
[17:20:03] <t12> its not like being in jail is some kind of reward
[17:20:03] <t12> it sucks
[17:20:04] <Valen> and any drug busts we make outside we will also deliver
[17:20:13] <Jymmm> It's punishment, not a day spa
[17:20:19] <t12> it shouldnt be punishment
[17:20:22] <Valen> step 2, if you decide you want to leave criminal town, you go to school
[17:20:30] <t12> what are you gonna do punish someone their whole life and then they die and the point of the punishment is?
[17:20:34] <tjb1> They shouldnt have cigarettes, tv or gym use
[17:20:37] <t12> the goal shold just be to keep them from causing trouble to everyone else
[17:20:46] <Valen> you live in a dorm, you get up, keep clean and learn a skill
[17:20:50] <tjb1> they knew the laws, shouldnt have broken them
[17:20:52] <t12> if that takes cigs tv and some weights
[17:20:53] <t12> thes fine
[17:20:57] <t12> thats
[17:21:05] <Valen> break the rules and you go back to criminal town for x months
[17:21:34] <Valen> you can only leave "jail" once you have learnt a useful skill and shown you have the ability to function in society
[17:22:09] <Jymmm> They cause more financial burden that most of the crimes they commited. They should be placed into servatude to those they did damage to
[17:22:11] <JT-Shop> lol, Escape from New York
[17:22:23] <t12> doing what?
[17:22:27] <Valen> JT-Shop: kinda, but with a defined outlet
[17:22:34] <t12> they're going to make up for a murder in sewing tshirts or shoes or something?
[17:22:49] <Valen> you need to actually solve the problem that caused them to commit the crime in the first place
[17:22:59] <Jymmm> slave in essense
[17:23:22] <t12> why not just pay the chinese, likely less
[17:23:24] <t12> to make the same product
[17:23:25] <Valen> generally its because they have no useful skills or ability to see the long term as a viable thing to plan for
[17:23:58] <Jymmm> If you get put in jail, you should have to earn your food, clothes, etc.
[17:24:15] <Jymmm> Valen: They can be taught if they are willing
[17:24:31] <Valen> thats what i said, you go to jail until you want to leave
[17:24:35] <tjb1> My cousin is younger than me and has been to jail 5-6 times
[17:24:54] <JT-Shop> that seems to be an upoplar view among those in charge of giving the country away
[17:25:40] <ReadError> tjb1: most jails/prisons ban cigarettes now
[17:25:47] <tjb1> He gets out, tells his dad he will change, goes back to jail in a month
[17:25:55] <ReadError> plus
[17:26:01] <Jymmm> It cost $100K/year to house an inmate. Hell, you could have given him/her half that and they might be able to do something with their life
[17:26:03] <ReadError> if you keep them occupied with gym and tv
[17:26:07] <ReadError> they wont be fighting
[17:26:09] <ReadError> etc.
[17:26:15] <ReadError> Jymmm: nah
[17:26:19] <ReadError> federal is 32k per year
[17:26:29] <ReadError> more depending on the security of the facility
[17:26:40] <Jymmm> ReadError: Even at 16K
[17:26:48] <tjb1> Let them fight
[17:26:53] <Valen> my idea for criminal town was to put it in the middle of the outback (we have plenty of desert) the jail is defined by a line on the ground
[17:26:53] <tjb1> They want to kill each other, even better ;)
[17:27:05] <ReadError> tjb1: then you are stuck footing the bill for medical
[17:27:09] <tjb1> No
[17:27:10] <Valen> if you cross the line the helicopter comes after you
[17:27:13] <tjb1> You dont have to be
[17:27:19] <Jymmm> Just send em all to .AU
[17:27:26] <Valen> raffle tickets off for a chance to fly in the helicopter and shoot the criminals
[17:27:47] <ReadError> well
[17:28:00] <ReadError> a majority of this would be fixed by eliminating the war on drugs
[17:28:09] <Valen> true enough
[17:28:22] <Jymmm> s/war/guberment profit/
[17:28:24] <ReadError> do you realize how many non violent offenders are locked up?
[17:29:17] <JT-Shop> The United States has the highest documented incarceration rate in the world (743 per 100,000 population)
[17:29:56] <JT-Shop> At year-end 2007 the United States had less than 5% of the world's population[29] and 23.4% of the world's prison and jail population (adult inmates).[9]
[17:30:21] <Jymmm> I say give em carrots and water... anything after that, they earn.
[17:30:36] <ReadError> Nearly One In Eight US Drug Prisoners Are Behind Bars For Pot -- Taxpayers Spending Over $1 Billion Annually To Incarcerate Pot Offenders
[17:30:45] <ReadError> for example..
[17:31:03] <ReadError> The BJS study, "Drug Use and Dependence, State and Federal Prisoners, 2004," reports that 12.7 percent of state inmates and 12.4 percent of federal inmates incarcerated for drug violations are serving time for marijuana offenses
[17:31:10] <JT-Shop> Jymmm: come on they should have the finest housing that our brave troops had in WW1
[17:31:33] <Jymmm> JT-Shop: moldy canvas tent?
[17:31:39] <JT-Shop> yep
[17:31:51] <JT-Shop> dirt floor on a good day
[17:31:58] <Jymmm> JT-Shop: They would have to earn that.
[17:32:04] <JT-Shop> right
[17:32:14] <Jymmm> Oh, not carrots.... Kale and water
[17:32:16] <JT-Shop> and most states are missing the tax boat for weed
[17:32:26] <JT-Shop> dumb asses
[17:32:32] <Valen> you keep saying earn this and earn that, but you neglect that their skill set and attitude preclude them from that which is why they are there in the first place
[17:32:45] <Valen> you need to give them the ability to earn stuff
[17:32:55] <Valen> once they have that they won't need to be in jail any more
[17:33:06] <ReadError> Valen: most places offer vocational training
[17:33:09] <ReadError> and jobs
[17:33:11] <Jymmm> Valen: There can be classes offered to them; other can teach them like an appreticship
[17:33:16] <JT-Shop> give is the wrong attitude
[17:33:33] <ReadError> Jymmm: they do that
[17:33:41] <ReadError> for example, barber training
[17:33:43] <ReadError> HVAC
[17:33:43] <Jymmm> Valen: How hard it it to plant a seed for food?
[17:34:05] <Jymmm> Valen: how hard is it for them to learn to grab a hose to water plants?
[17:34:17] <Valen> Jymmm: when your personal time line is a week and a half then it'd be pretty damn hard
[17:34:36] <Jymmm> Valen: They aren't going anywhere for years.
[17:34:37] <Valen> by all means have them grow their own food once they decide they want to re-enter society
[17:35:02] <Jymmm> Valen: fuck society, I'm talking survival in prison
[17:35:16] <Valen> urgh i'm arguing with Jymmm, thats pointless at the best of times, and this is a philosophical debate
[17:35:28] <Jymmm> Valen: They want theri cell warm, they chop firewood
[17:36:01] <Jymmm> they could barter chopped firewood for clothing
[17:36:02] <Valen> ok so the people who manage to make it out of your prison by steeling food from anybody else who does grow it and killing for firewood are the kind of people you want to re-introduce to society
[17:36:30] <Jymmm> Valen: You're talking Mad Max stuff.
[17:37:14] <Jymmm> It's a mindset; you dont start it with hard core psycho killers here
[17:37:32] <Jymmm> Like someone said, the non-vilent offenders.
[17:37:57] <ReadError> Jymmm: there are different classifications to denote where you go
[17:38:02] <Jymmm> Maybe someone cousn wouldn't be in/out of jail 5-6 times if he has to wrok/earn/learn
[17:38:05] <ReadError> education plays a role as well
[17:38:17] <ReadError> if you dont have a GED for example, you get more points
[17:38:17] <Jymmm> ReadError: ppl can learn, if they are willing.
[17:38:23] <t12> and what if they're not willing
[17:38:25] <ReadError> and start off at a higher level facility
[17:38:34] <t12> or how about
[17:38:39] <t12> what if they disagree with what you're teaching
[17:38:39] <ReadError> if you take the GED test and pass, your points get lowered
[17:38:58] <Valen> he also might not be in jail if he had a useful skill and work experience in his trade
[17:39:13] <Jymmm> t12: When they are hungry becasue there in no chow hall to get food from, they may get a different perspetive on learning/willingness
[17:39:22] <t12> or just eat your neighbor
[17:39:30] <Valen> no, they will just kill each other over what food there is
[17:39:40] <t12> hungry people will do crazy shit
[17:39:42] <t12> not sane stuff
[17:40:02] <Jymmm> There's ALWAYS kale and water.... but anything past that they have to create
[17:40:06] <t12> you're essentially saying threaten people with death and starvation if they dont do what you want
[17:40:14] <t12> i've been locked up in situations like that before, and its fucked
[17:40:54] <ReadError> the prison system has an obligation to take care of the inmates
[17:40:58] <Jymmm> Kale is one of those ubar veggies it' will keep you going.
[17:41:05] <ReadError> caloric intake, to health and dental
[17:41:47] <cradek> health care for prisoners is a hard sell in a country where the working poor don't have it
[17:42:01] <Jymmm> I think they has have it far too easy. Everyone can be a resource, be it picking up a hose to teaching someone else.
[17:42:27] <t12> just because the working poor have it shitty
[17:42:29] <ReadError> cradek: there are always free clinics
[17:42:32] <t12> doesnt mean people in prison should have it WORSE
[17:42:34] <t12> just for 'fairness'
[17:42:41] <t12> how about this
[17:42:45] <t12> the working poor should have it better
[17:42:48] <t12> and leave people in prison alone?
[17:42:52] <Valen> oh btw that's another thing about my jail system, you also have voluntary entry. so you don't need to commit a crime to do it
[17:43:00] <Valen> commit a crime to get in rather
[17:43:11] <ReadError> Valen: there are plenty of cases where innocent people are locked up
[17:43:12] <Jymmm> t12: worse than the person living in the freezing cold while they commited a crime and get clean clothes, showert, and a warm bed?
[17:43:16] <ReadError> only for it to be overturned years later
[17:43:23] <ReadError> DNA evidence and what not..
[17:43:44] <Valen> ReadError: in my system those sort of people could be out in months
[17:43:51] <Valen> for almost any offence
[17:44:32] <Valen> I think though that a seperate punishment system is needed for people who are functioning members of society who do stupid stuff
[17:44:33] <t12> you gotta try and tease the logic apart here
[17:44:47] <t12> 1: there are people who are working productive members of society who are poor and mistreated
[17:44:55] <t12> 2: there are prisoners who are not working productive members of society
[17:45:00] <Valen> habitual criminals go to criminal town
[17:45:00] <t12> punishing 2 doesnt fix 1
[17:45:06] <Jymmm> Valen: Nah, they should pass down their skills to those that aren't.
[17:45:22] <Valen> that would be a good part of their punishment
[17:45:42] <Valen> I'm talking about things like DUI and bar brawls
[17:45:48] <ReadError> Valen: what i have been saying
[17:45:50] <Valen> or fraud
[17:45:52] <ReadError> there are programs like this
[17:46:01] <Valen> yeah but generally they are crap
[17:46:05] <ReadError> many places also raise/train helper dogs
[17:46:13] <ReadError> to help the disabled
[17:46:29] <Valen> and not recognised anywhere and the criminal isn't actually started into a new life they are given a bit of paper and kicked out
[17:46:42] <Valen> they are type 2 people to use t12s terminoligy
[17:47:09] <Jymmm> ReadError: Those could even move on to become vet techs even
[17:47:33] <Jymmm> and I guess even dog walkers make some good money too.
[17:47:34] <Valen> although if somebody rips off several million dollars from retired people, it seems appropriate that they get a university level degree in ethics
[17:47:44] <t12> lol
[17:47:50] <t12> if you're able to steal money like that
[17:47:55] <t12> an ethics course isnt gonna do much
[17:48:18] <Valen> t12 then the 4 hours a day you spend breaking rocks might change your mind ;->
[17:48:18] <Jymmm> Valen: Nah, should have to teach those ppl they ripped off on how NOT to get ripped off, all 1M of em =)
[17:48:27] <Valen> Jymmm: good call
[17:48:38] <Valen> I feel justice should be poetic as well as rapid
[17:48:48] <Jymmm> Justice should NOT be blind
[17:50:04] <ReadError> you have doctors in prision
[17:50:06] <ReadError> prison*
[17:50:10] <ReadError> the talent is there
[17:50:30] <ReadError> sure, they might have prescribed out 500k oxycotin when they where a doctor to folks who didnt need them
[17:50:33] <Jymmm> There ya go.... FREE MEDICAL!
[17:50:34] <ReadError> but they still know medicine
[17:51:05] <t12> however if you s/oxycontin/zyprexa
[17:51:09] <t12> totally chill
[17:51:26] <t12> or insert antipsychotic of your choice
[17:51:31] <ReadError> yea
[17:51:38] <ReadError> thats why kids are all messed up these days
[17:51:40] <t12> seroquel seems very popular
[17:51:57] <t12> seroquel withdrawl might be worse than opiate withdrawl
[17:51:58] <ReadError> their parents where all doped up on drugs that causes birth defects
[17:52:21] <Jymmm> ReadError: They can still be taught to grab a garden hose.
[17:52:40] <Jymmm> pull weeds, etc
[17:52:44] <ReadError> Jymmm: many places do that
[17:52:58] <ReadError> everything in most prisons is inmate maintained
[17:53:04] <ReadError> electrical, hvac, water, etc
[17:53:15] <Jymmm> ReadError: I NEVER said inside a prison.
[17:53:17] <ReadError> food
[17:54:06] <Jymmm> Being in a prison costs money, they should be serving the public at large.
[17:54:25] <Jymmm> Toss an electronic collar on em.
[17:54:49] <ReadError> that still cost money
[17:54:56] <ReadError> you have fees and cost associated with that
[17:55:08] <t12> you dont try and recoup costs of operating prisons
[17:55:11] <Jymmm> Nah, if they can make a $30 cellphone, I'm sure they cna make a $20 people collar
[17:55:14] <t12> otherwise you end up with whats going on in the US
[17:55:22] <t12> where the prison population is essentially a corp workforce
[17:55:28] <t12> with lobbyists trying to get more workers
[17:55:30] <t12> via laws
[17:55:30] <ReadError> UNICOR
[17:55:42] <ReadError> they make stuff for the miltary, gov
[17:57:01] <Jymmm> tracking collar... they don't report in x time, they get zaped
[17:57:13] <ReadError> http://www.amazon.com/dp/B003XREJOK/ref=pe_175190_21431760_M3T1_SC_dp_1
[17:57:16] <ReadError> ordered that today
[17:57:24] <ReadError> only 5 gallon but should work nice on the mill
[17:58:03] <Jymmm> 1.25" hose?
[17:58:10] <ReadError> i ordered a 2.5"
[17:58:15] <Jymmm> ah
[17:58:19] <ReadError> its made for 2.5, but has a coupler
[17:58:30] <Jymmm> bastards
[17:58:30] <ReadError> the locline stuff is 2.5 so i needed to get that anyways
[17:58:49] <ReadError> well for most stuff like cleaning up workbenches the 1.25 works better imo
[17:58:59] <ReadError> but cleaning the floor 2.5" all the way
[17:59:05] <Jymmm> nah, but the crevis tool will help
[17:59:38] <ReadError> i only got 2' of the locline
[17:59:46] <ReadError> but i figure that should work ok
[18:00:25] <jdh> do people use it for vacuum?
[18:00:51] <ReadError> jdh: I think thats what its made for
[18:01:09] <ReadError> http://www.amazon.com/Loc-Line-Component-Copolymer-Elements-Segment/dp/B006R9OV94/ref=pd_sim_indust_2
[18:02:59] <Jymmm> what are you going to suck with the locline?
[18:03:10] <jdh> cool. I've only seen it used for blowing and coolant
[18:03:14] <ReadError> g10/cf dust
[18:03:18] <ReadError> and aluminum
[18:03:23] <ReadError> g10 is some nasty stuff
[18:03:36] <ReadError> this i can suck it straight in to a HEPA
[18:13:37] <JT-Shop> well the ATC seems to be ready to work :)
[18:17:04] <ReadError> do you have one of those air spindles ?
[18:17:44] <PCW> JT-Shop: just bad SSR or more?
[18:18:15] <JT-Shop> so far just seems to be a bad SSR but I still need to put the motor back in and give it the full test
[18:18:27] <JT-Shop> everything acts right so far
[18:19:07] <ReadError> did you build the tool change yourself?
[18:19:22] <JT-Shop> no, it is a BP Discovery 308 VMC
[18:22:58] <ReadError> http://gnipsel.com/shop/unload-308/images/unload-308-09.jpg
[18:23:02] <ReadError> looks like the cab of a truck :)
[18:23:28] <JT-Shop> that be the beast
[18:23:43] <JT-Shop> that was a fun 3 day weekend
[18:24:29] <Valen> heh thats not small
[18:24:36] <Valen> did it at least have a lift point on it?
[18:24:50] <Valen> we are planning on putting a gantry crane into the shed just for stuff like that
[18:24:51] <JT-Shop> for an overhead crane yes
[18:25:08] <Valen> it makes a good argument for being able to extend the crane out the door of the shed ;->
[18:25:13] <JT-Shop> you have to take a bunch of covers off and put round stock through the base
[18:25:23] <JT-Shop> or back the trailer in
[18:41:59] <Brian_> hey linux CNC
[18:42:09] <Brian_> Can you make SMD stencils with a 40W laser cutter?
[18:42:24] <Brian_> and by stencil, i mean brass ones not plastico nes
[18:48:02] <Brian_> anyone?
[18:49:06] <Tom_itx> dunno, i get plastic ones done
[18:49:13] <Tom_itx> kapton
[18:49:50] <Brian_> what's the difference between them and metal ones?
[18:50:45] <PCW> I think lifetime mainly
[18:51:12] <Brian_> i guess metal ones last more?
[18:51:46] <PCW> Yes normal stainless steel ones are good for 1000's of cards
[18:52:21] <Tom_itx> http://tom-itx.dyndns.org:81/~webpage/boards/USBTiny_Mkii/Stencils/stencils.jpg
[18:52:29] <Tom_itx> i've had no problems with plastic
[18:52:39] <Brian_> PCW, it's because i want to buy a laser cutter for making stencils.
[18:52:39] <Tom_itx> but i don't do 'production' run quantities
[18:53:03] <Brian_> But i want to know if it's possible to cut metal with a laser, and by metal i mean brass.
[18:53:30] <Tom_itx> i'm sure you can but i don't know how many watts it requires
[18:58:19] <Tom_itx> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=andQtKsk52c
[19:09:45] <Jymmm> Schools went into lockdown over a thermometer, a car backfiring, a bank robbery a few blocks away, a student alone in a gym, a neighbor on the street, and some vague unfounded rumors. And one high-school kid was arrested for drawing pictures of guns. Everywhere else, post-traumatic stupidity syndrome.
[19:16:40] <Tom_itx> http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&NR=1&v=T_PA9eUd5tA
[19:22:14] <Jymmm> what is it?
[19:22:33] <Tom_itx> a 3d laser cutter
[19:22:44] <Jymmm> The thing it's cutting
[19:22:54] <Tom_itx> sputnik
[19:22:59] <Jymmm> heh
[19:23:43] <Tom_itx> about the same size
[20:04:25] <ReadError> http://dl.dropbox.com/u/25091878/Photo%20Jan%2015%2C%208%2042%2037%20PM.jpg
[20:04:30] <ReadError> need to learn to polish aluminum
[20:04:38] <ReadError> i think my buffing wheel is not firm enough
[20:04:58] <Tom_itx> and the right compound
[20:05:05] <ReadError> yea
[20:05:12] <ReadError> i was justing some cheap stick from lowes
[20:05:16] <Tom_itx> i order 15" wheels from somebody back east
[20:05:17] <ReadError> it doesnt apply that well
[20:09:16] <Tom_itx> http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kI3n4Ll6QdU
[20:12:52] <DearLeader> Tom_itx, seems that a lot of these kind of businesses are locally based.
[21:02:45] <skunkworks> ReadError: nice!!
[21:03:59] <ReadError> ty bolting it together now
[21:04:07] <ReadError> next time ill polish them properly
[21:04:17] <Tom_itx> what are they?
[21:05:23] <ReadError> quad rotor arms
[21:05:28] <ReadError> ill have a pic 1 sec
[21:07:40] <r00t4rd3d> tooth paste and 0000 steel wool
[21:08:18] <Valen> http://sphotos-f.ak.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/539166_4441374309659_1255185278_n.jpg is how your sposed to look after polishing aluminium
[21:08:29] <Valen> comment from one of my friends
[21:08:35] <Valen> "I read a tutorial on it. It said in part "if it this stage you start to look like a dirty Frenchman then you are doing a good job" or something like that."
[21:08:53] <ReadError> http://dl.dropbox.com/u/25091878/Photo%20Jan%2015%2C%209%2054%2057%20PM.jpg
[21:09:21] <Valen> ReadError: you need to go crossways and not burn the edges
[21:09:43] <Valen> IE polish across the lines that are in it
[21:09:43] <r00t4rd3d> and upload smaller pics
[21:09:47] <Tom_itx> ahh, you're making a quad decapitator
[21:09:54] <ReadError> lol yup Tom_itx
[21:09:57] <Valen> do you have a coarse and a fine buff?
[21:10:00] <ReadError> yea Valen, im still learning this
[21:10:09] <Valen> hence me giving you tips ;->
[21:10:10] <ReadError> i only have 1 'soft' buffer pad on the grinder
[21:10:17] <Valen> that'd probably do on Al
[21:10:17] <ReadError> i need to get a yellow one
[21:10:20] <ReadError> and some polish
[21:10:26] <ReadError> im using these paper sticks
[21:10:31] <Valen> oh without any soap your not going to do anything
[21:10:36] <Valen> whats a paper stick lol?
[21:10:48] <Valen> the polishing compound is what does the work
[21:11:07] <Tom_itx> lava soap
[21:11:12] <Tom_itx> maybe
[21:11:21] <r00t4rd3d> tooth paste or baking soda and water
[21:11:49] <r00t4rd3d> will mirror finish it
[21:11:53] <Valen> just get the right stuff, costs like $50 for a pair of wheels with 2 compounds
[21:12:04] <Valen> you would do all that in about 5 -10 minutes
[21:12:16] <Valen> little bit irritating with all the bars in it
[21:13:59] <ReadError> nah
[21:14:03] <ReadError> its like a wax
[21:14:06] <ReadError> with paper around it
[21:14:11] <ReadError> very hard to get on the wheel
[21:14:15] <Valen> sounds about right then
[21:14:24] <Valen> you only need to touch it on it
[21:14:29] <Valen> then buff
[21:14:31] <Valen> then touch
[21:14:33] <Valen> then buff
[21:14:46] <Valen> i go about a minute i guess between applying the soap
[21:14:57] <Valen> depending on how much i'm taking off
[21:15:05] <r00t4rd3d> what are we talking about here
[21:15:22] <r00t4rd3d> polishing your knob?
[21:15:52] <Valen> you know a knob is about the only thing i havent polished
[21:15:59] <Valen> lots of motorcycle parts though
[21:16:53] <Valen> but yeah ReadError work the center of the parts at 90 degrees to the marks your trying to get rid of
[21:16:57] <Valen> press pretty hard
[21:17:16] <Valen> the grinder should just be starting to work hard but not enough that it gets bogged down
[21:17:25] <ReadError> i think my buffing wheel is shot
[21:17:31] <Valen> and the part should get hot enough that you can't really touch it without gloves on ;->
[21:17:36] <ReadError> ill grab another bench grinder and some more wheels
[21:21:34] <Valen> ouch metal rollers seem so expensive
[21:21:52] <r00t4rd3d> just use plastic ones like the rest of the girls
[21:22:22] <Valen> me thinks r00t4rd3d needs a girlfriend
[21:23:11] <r00t4rd3d> me too but not the wife
[21:23:47] <r00t4rd3d> jk, i am not married.
[21:26:01] <Valen> I was about to say, you need a better wife, but i was going to go with "that explains a lot"
[21:35:45] <s1dev> anyone know of a good place for worm gears?
[21:36:16] <Tom_itx> stock drive products
[21:37:02] <s1dev> thanks
[21:37:51] <Tom_itx> mcmaster may carry them
[21:38:46] <ReadError> i <3 mcmaster
[21:38:50] <ReadError> they banned me the otherday
[21:38:51] <Valen> i dont
[21:38:57] <Valen> they wont ship to australia
[21:38:58] <ReadError> had to call and have them lift my ban so i could place my order
[21:39:05] <ReadError> oh
[21:39:10] <Valen> any paticular reason for banning you?
[21:39:21] <ReadError> well certainly you all have an equivalent
[21:39:26] <Valen> nope
[21:39:34] <ReadError> "Search patterns exceed that of a normal visitor"
[21:39:40] <Valen> lol
[21:39:42] <ReadError> sorry guys, im bored at work trying to spend money
[21:39:50] <ReadError> had 20 lines on my cart so far
[21:39:59] <ReadError> 24hour ban
[21:40:06] <ReadError> called and explained to the guy on the phone
[21:40:08] <ReadError> he removed it
[21:40:13] <Tom_itx> they just don't want you to spend it too fast
[21:40:32] <ReadError> i have a wad of "free" money in my pocket now ;/
[21:40:37] <Tom_itx> likely to avoid bots
[21:40:37] <ReadError> burning too
[21:40:56] <ReadError> i worked a bunch of OT and it hit
[21:41:10] <Valen> what do you do for a crust ReadError?
[21:42:09] <jdh> when I work "overtime" all I get is work
[21:42:57] <ReadError> a crust ?
[21:43:26] <jdh> I'd guess he means " what do you do"
[21:43:34] <ReadError> oh
[21:43:38] <ReadError> linux admin work
[21:43:51] <jdh> atl?
[21:43:59] <ReadError> yea
[21:44:43] <jdh> I only admin boxes with no users... and I never upgrade them.
[21:45:17] <ReadError> i got dragged into a hellhole they call solaris today
[21:45:22] <ReadError> never want to see that again.
[21:45:28] <jdh> it's all the same.
[21:45:31] <jdh> "work"
[21:46:06] <Valen> lol sysadmin here too
[21:46:11] <Valen> got my programmer hat on today
[21:46:38] <Valen> got a disturbing number of windows machines now :-<
[21:47:00] <jdh> me too :(
[21:47:23] <Valen> solaris, close enough to really screw you over?
[21:47:33] <jdh> I'm rewriting a system now in vb.net which I surprisingly no longer despise
[21:47:43] <Valen> vb.net is pointless
[21:47:52] <Valen> it lost all the good things that were vb
[21:48:01] <Valen> vb6 was nice
[21:48:08] <jdh> I no longer really care what I use.
[21:48:19] <Valen> python and php for me
[21:48:40] <ReadError> omfg
[21:48:47] <jdh> I'm replacing a VMS box
[21:48:48] <ReadError> i was trying to use vi on the box
[21:48:54] <ReadError> i would enter insert mode
[21:48:58] <jdh> and it was real vi, not vim?
[21:49:10] <ReadError> my arrows would throw around characters when trying to move the cursor
[21:49:21] <ReadError> just ENTERING insert mode changed the last character on the line
[21:49:33] <ReadError> so...
[21:49:33] <Valen> lol
[21:49:42] <Valen> nano all the way!
[21:49:42] <ReadError> i ended up just using sed and echo
[21:49:43] <ReadError> lol
[21:49:49] <ReadError> theres no nano, no emacs
[21:49:52] <ReadError> no pico
[21:49:55] <ReadError> no vim
[21:50:00] <jdh> there could be.
[21:50:02] <ReadError> just some crap copy of 'vi'
[21:50:04] <ReadError> also
[21:50:08] <Valen> apt-get install nano?
[21:50:10] <Valen> ;->
[21:50:12] <jdh> you can gnu it
[21:50:14] <ReadError> vi complained my resolution was too high
[21:50:28] <ReadError> jdh, i wanted to be a like hitman, in and out
[21:50:45] <ReadError> not compiling editors
[21:55:05] <Valen> soooo sleeeeeepy
[21:55:23] <Valen> and now its hot too
[22:06:41] <Valen> stuff it I'm not getting anything done here i'm calling lunch
[22:07:36] <jdh> I've been doing software since the late 80's. Last week or so I've been wearing headphones and listening to music. Seems to do wonders to eliminate distractions
[22:09:18] <jdh> guess I should have tried it years ago. I've always had a bad opinion of headphone-at-work-wearers though
[22:11:23] <Valen> for me to get in the zone for programming i need to have headphones and aqua
[22:11:39] <Valen> (as in barbie girl)
[22:11:52] <Valen> radio is too distracting
[22:12:05] <jdh> heh, I actually have that on my phone
[22:12:08] <ReadError> depend on your taste
[22:12:13] <ReadError> i listen to turntable.fm all day
[22:12:28] <jdh> I tend to get distracted by people walking by and asking questions
[22:12:33] <Jymmm> jdh: bad opionon, why?
[22:12:43] <Valen> the other one is i got a torrent of 300 classical music pieces that is also good
[22:12:46] <jdh> dunno, just o.
[22:13:15] <jdh> I noticed I really have no music from the last 10 or so years.
[22:13:21] <Jymmm> jdh: That doesn't make sense though
[22:13:26] <jdh> does to me.
[22:13:46] <jdh> but, I guess I'm over it now.
[22:13:48] <Jymmm> jdh: you have a negative viewpoint, but for no reason???
[22:14:34] <jdh> more of a can't-really-describe it reason
[22:14:39] <Valen> there are reasons you could think that
[22:14:41] <Jymmm> jdh: I'm not bagging on ya, just on this human nature kick lately
[22:15:01] <Valen> i really dislike it when my better half wears headphones because it means i cant talk to her
[22:15:10] <jdh> yeah
[22:15:12] <Jymmm> Valen: TAKE THE HINT
[22:15:32] <Valen> ;-P
[22:15:38] <Jymmm> Sometimes that is actually why they're worn.
[22:15:45] <jdh> new machine coming in first week of Feb and I still have tons of code to do so I'm willing to be the ass with the headphones
[22:16:00] <Valen> she does that for people trying to push her crap on the streets
[22:16:23] <Valen> its a good filter, if you have them on people won't interrupt you unless its actually important
[22:16:41] <Jymmm> Since my headphones let me talk on the phone, ppl at work dont know if I'm talking on the phone or listening to music, just the way I like it =)
[22:17:03] <jdh> I don't generally answer the phone :)
[22:17:07] <Jymmm> Oh, they'll interupt music, but not a phone call =)
[22:17:47] <Jymmm> They look at me, I point to the headaches that silently say "oh, ok" and walk away. I love it!
[22:18:15] <Jymmm> and 99% of the time I AM listening to music =)
[22:19:01] <Jymmm> Though I do help them when talking to vendors at the same time, so it re-enforces the whole thing =)
[22:20:03] <Jymmm> I take a 5% hit for a 95% gain.... PROFIT!!!!
[22:29:10] <Connor> jdh: What new machine ?
[22:30:32] <jdh> Connor: it assembles fuel bundles
[22:32:30] <jdh> http://www.google.com/patents/EP0223200B1?cl=en&dq=bundle+assembly+machine&source=uds
[22:33:27] <jdh> Kind of amusing that you can find it on the web
[23:01:15] <Connor> jdh: Strange.
[23:07:16] <Jymmm> Not really seeing it's GE. But the ironic thing is why would you file a patent for something that you could never enforce as you would be sworn to secrecy in such a facility or face treason charges
[23:08:04] <Jymmm> and isn't 1986 cold war days?
[23:58:44] <Valen> is it just me or have CPU's gone up in price?
