02:07 AM linuxcnc-build2: Build [#832](http://buildbot2.highlab.com/buildbot/#builders/11/builds/832) of `10-rip.debian-12-bookworm-rtpreempt-amd64` 8completed with warnings.
02:20 AM linuxcnc-build2: Build [#882](http://buildbot2.highlab.com/buildbot/#builders/13/builds/882) of `00-checkin` 3completed successfully.
04:43 AM fdarling: I know that LinuxCNC is now a package in Debian "bookworm" (and "sid" of course), are there any special requirements on what kernel must be installed within Debian? Like not just the "-rt" edition, but a specific version range?
10:07 AM roguish[m]: fdarling: look for a 4.18 or 4.19
10:34 AM rene-dev5: Why 4? 5 and 6 work fine.
11:09 AM JT-Shop: 5 does not work with realtek nic's and mesa
11:55 AM rene-dev5: Where are the details about that issue?
01:50 PM rmu: rene-dev5: debian stock rt kernels 5.x don't work very well. high worst-case latency, with network based mesa cards you will run into unfinished read errors in no time.
01:52 PM rmu: rene-dev5: do you have an idea how to debug this? i have 3 systems that run fine with 4.19.something and 6.3.0-rc7 but immediatley get "unfinished read" with stock debian rt kernels > 4.19
01:52 PM roguish[m]: rene-dev5: I believe Rod Webster has put an issue report of some sort into Debian....principally about the realtek nic problem
01:53 PM roguish[m]: check on the forum
01:53 PM TurBoss: rmu: can i reproduce this on 6.3.0-rc5-rt9?
01:53 PM TurBoss: how*
01:53 PM rmu: i have mixture of intel and realtek cards
01:54 PM TurBoss: ok only realteck here
01:54 PM rmu: TurBoss: 6.3.0-rc7-rt9 is working fine for me, so probably 6.3.0-rc5-rt9 will too?
01:55 PM TurBoss: gona upgrade
01:55 PM rmu: reproducing with 5.x kernel means just reboot and start linuxcnc and wait 1-2 min for "unfinished read"
01:56 PM rmu: my machine where both mesa and LAN are on realtek is offline at the moment, will check tomorrow, but IIRC that also was fine with 6.3...
02:10 PM roguish[m]: rene-dev5: rmu see this https://forum.linuxcnc.org/9-installing-linuxcnc/48512-the-case-for-debian-bookworm-and-the-6-1-kernel-including-installation-notes?start=0
02:16 PM JT-Shop: the only way I've fixed it is to put an intel nic in and use that for emc and mesa
