03:30 AM pere: hi
03:21 PM seb_kuzminsky: CaptHindsight[m]: i got a Wiznet W5500-EVB-Pico to play with
03:22 PM seb_kuzminsky: ping times are pretty bad, avg < 100 µs but spiked up in the "many hundreds" range
03:23 PM seb_kuzminsky: so it's probably not going to be easy to use for CNC control (slow peripheral IO would be fine, like the teensy)
03:23 PM seb_kuzminsky: i have a W6100 on preorder, we'll see if it's any better
05:01 PM seb_kuzminsky: oh wait, i think it's my platform, my 7i93 returns terrible ping numbers here too
05:01 PM seb_kuzminsky: so now i dont know
05:02 PM seb_kuzminsky: this is a pi4 running the bookworm image from https://github.com/sebkuzminsky/image-specs
05:35 PM CaptHindsight[m]: seb_kuzminsky: 😀 you'll sort it out
05:36 PM seb_kuzminsky: or i'll just make myself more confused
05:38 PM CaptHindsight[m]: back in the mid 90's I was doing Power over Ethernet for a new customer, I wired up a proto to show them how well it can work for them. The software people however misconfigured the Ethernet so it was getting <<1mb/sec transfer over only 100 ft of cable
05:39 PM CaptHindsight[m]: after proper configuration the POE worked as well as the 100Mb on the rest of their network
05:42 PM CaptHindsight[m]: seb_kuzminsky: that ESP32 LCNC project used a W5500, let me find that git....
05:43 PM CaptHindsight[m]: https://github.com/Deotti-cl/linuxcnc-esp32
05:47 PM CaptHindsight[m]: https://www.pjrc.com/arduino-ethernet-library-2-0-0/ all these benchmarks, but not for pings
