04:52 PM ve7it: I though master would build without python 2.x... it seems it really wants python 2.7 installed to proceed with the build. (seems to require python2-yapps2 package which pulls in all of python 2.7) What is the current status of needing python 2.x?
05:32 PM jepler[m]1: the string "python2-yapps2" does not appear in 2.9 or master branch. it looks like the debian package yapps2 (depends: python3:any) is proposed, though.
05:35 PM ve7it: hi jepler.... I am trying to build on arch.... the only package yapps or yapps2 related is the python2-yapps2 version which is obviously related to python2... I will do some more investigation to see if I can maybe install the debian yapps package
05:37 PM ve7it: I just removed all the python2 packages from my devel machine and the only project that seems to be affected is linuxcnc
05:41 PM jepler[m]1: yeah yapps is not a very active project. yet another technical debt trolley hurtling towards innocent users
05:45 PM ve7it: interesting... I seem to have /usr/bin/yapps and /usr/bin/yapps2-old installed on the system!... not sure why yapps2has a -old suffix... sounds like something I did! File is dated 31 Mar 2018, so is quite old
05:50 PM ve7it: the /usr/bin/yapps is just a link to /usr/bin/yapps2 which now doesnt exist and the /usr/bin/yapps2-old file definately wants python2
