05:05 AM linuxcnc-build2: Worker `checkin` is missing. It was seen last on Thu Feb 2 03:04:47 2023.
09:36 AM andypugh: And Adam Ant is back :-(
09:38 AM andypugh: Complaining about LGPL-2 licenced code, much of which Paul Corner refused to relicence. Which is particularly suspicious if you consider that it is extremel likely that Adam Ant _is_ Paul Corner.
09:40 AM roguish[m]: andypugh: who the fuck is that guy?
09:40 AM roguish[m]: andypugh: also, what's up with the stmble drive? is there a new design with parts that are actually available?
09:41 AM andypugh: It looks like there might be an STMBL that uses a more available power IC, yes.
09:41 AM andypugh: Though there was also a redesign using generic mosfets on an aluminium PCB that looked promising.
09:43 AM roguish[m]: oh, cool. think there could be any interest in a production run? maybe a couple dozen? or more?
09:43 AM rmu: roguish[m]: i redesigned the HV part to use SLLIMM modules, that are "somewhat" available, but AFAIL no working prototype has been built
09:43 AM andypugh: I don’t know where the files are, I don’t think that they are at https://github.com/rene-dev/stmbl
09:44 AM roguish[m]: rmu: oh, are you rene-dev/stmbl ???
09:44 AM rmu: branch is in here https://github.com/rmu75/stmbl
09:44 AM rmu: no i'm not
09:44 AM roguish[m]: ok.
09:44 AM andypugh: rene-dev5: Do you have any info on the discrete-driver desgn?
09:45 AM rmu: so proceed with caution, i botched my prototype board while fixing bad solder joints and then real life took over
09:46 AM rmu: AFAIK the act4088 that's used is not available any more, so a re-redesign would be in order anyways. the SLLIMM modules also were not really available back then in 2018 or whenever that happened
09:46 AM andypugh: Boards from JLCPCB are approximately free. (free enough to give away, at least). Hand-building the whole drive is committing, at best, though.
09:47 AM rmu: i would go for 4 layer board in a redesign
09:48 AM rmu: rene did a board review back then and IIRC didn't find anything too obviously wrong with it, so chances are it may actually work...
09:49 AM rmu: but it will need different enclosures, i had to relocate connectors
09:53 AM roguish[m]: andypugh: rmu thank you guys. I'm just curious. may need a project later this summer......
