03:19 PM pere: seb_kuzminsky: perhaps someone emptied it? hope someone get the video chat announcement.
03:33 PM seb_kuzminsky: i got a copy of the video chat announcement
03:34 PM seb_kuzminsky: i'm making progress on the new buildmaster
04:15 PM linuxcnc-build: build #2209 of 4042.deb-buster-rtpreempt-rpi4 is complete: Failure [4failed shell_1] Build details are at http://buildbot.linuxcnc.org/buildbot/builders/4042.deb-buster-rtpreempt-rpi4/builds/2209 blamelist: Dewey Garrett <dgarrett@panix.com>
04:17 PM andypugh: seb_kuzminsky: Do you have any idea why the 2.9 builds are failing? It seems to be not finding source packages.
04:30 PM pere: seb_kuzminsky: I used CC on the reminder to a few, in addition to the mailing list, but hoped others could be invited too.
04:35 PM linuxcnc-build: build #2316 of 4041.deb-buster-rtpreempt-amd64 is complete: Failure [4failed shell_1] Build details are at http://buildbot.linuxcnc.org/buildbot/builders/4041.deb-buster-rtpreempt-amd64/builds/2316 blamelist: Dewey Garrett <dgarrett@panix.com>

04:43 PM pere: andypugh: according to <URL: https://github.com/LinuxCNC/linuxcnc/commits/2.9 > the builds succeed?
04:44 PM andypugh: The buildbot is failing at the stage of making packages: http://buildbot.linuxcnc.org/buildbot/grid
04:48 PM seb_kuzminsky: andypugh: oops, yeah i know why it's failing, i'll fix it
04:48 PM seb_kuzminsky: *try to
04:50 PM andypugh: Thanks. I thought it was something that I had misconfigured. It might still be, but not the thing that I fixed.
05:18 PM linuxcnc-build: build #9401 of 0000.checkin is complete: Failure [4failed] Build details are at http://buildbot.linuxcnc.org/buildbot/builders/0000.checkin/builds/9401 blamelist: Sebastian Kuzminsky <seb@highlab.com>

07:09 PM seb_kuzminsky: the github builds succeed because they generate the dscs and the debs from the repo, and that works fine
07:09 PM seb_kuzminsky: the buildbot builds fail because they generate and upload the dscs to our package archive (which works), and then download the dscs and build them into debs (which fails, because the buildbot workers don't have the new 2.9 debian archive components in their sources.lists)
07:16 PM Tom_L: are the workers remote to you?
07:28 PM seb_kuzminsky: they're local (VMs on servers in my garage)
07:28 PM Tom_L: jt & i have been putzing with buildbot a little
07:29 PM Tom_L: must keep the garage warm in the winter :)
07:37 PM seb_kuzminsky: i make sure to push something to the repo before going out there this time of year :-)
09:55 PM seb_kuzminsky: linuxcnc-build: force build --branch=2.9 0000.checkin
09:55 PM linuxcnc-build: build forced [ETA 2h00m29s]
09:55 PM linuxcnc-build: I'll give a shout when the build finishes
10:00 PM seb_kuzminsky: hopefully that'll fix the 2.9 deb build, i'll check back in the morning
10:01 PM seb_kuzminsky: our scripts/platform-is-supported still fails on bookworm and sid, because lsb_release doesn't report a release number any more
10:02 PM Tom_L: linuxcnc-build, version
10:02 PM linuxcnc-build: buildbot-0.8.12 at your service
10:02 PM seb_kuzminsky: it also doesn't report a "long-lived" release name like "testing" or "unstable", it just says "bookworm" now, so some tweaking will be needed to get platform-is-supported to work on newer distros
10:03 PM seb_kuzminsky: Tom_L: that's still the old buildmaster, i'm not yet ready to cut over to the new one (which is 3.4.0, running on bookworm aka testing)
10:03 PM Tom_L: it's still running on python 2?
10:03 PM Tom_L: 3.4.6
10:03 PM Tom_L: err 3.6.0
10:03 PM Tom_L: sry
10:03 PM seb_kuzminsky: it's the same buildmaster we've had since before python3 was a thing
10:04 PM Tom_L: i can't seem to get it to echo status back to irc
10:04 PM seb_kuzminsky: i need to apt-get update my bookworm buildmaster-2 machine, it's still on buildbot 3.4.0-1
10:04 PM seb_kuzminsky: Tom_L: you have a buildmaster you're trying to connect to irc?
10:04 PM Tom_L: i'm brand new to buildbot
10:04 PM Tom_L: yes
10:05 PM Tom_L: just testing things
10:05 PM Tom_L: kinda followin jt as he does his
10:05 PM seb_kuzminsky: i don't know if it's different on modern versions, but in the old version that linuxcnc-build runs you add an entry to the 'status' list of words.IRC
10:06 PM seb_kuzminsky: give it a host, nick, and password, and tell it what channels to join
10:06 PM Tom_L: quite a bit is different i think
10:06 PM Tom_L: i can get it to join
10:07 PM seb_kuzminsky: ah, right, it's a `reporter` now, not `status`
10:07 PM Tom_L: right
10:07 PM -!- #linuxcnc-devel mode set to +v by ChanServ
10:08 PM seb_kuzminsky: Tom_L: what nick did you give it?
10:08 PM -!- #linuxcnc-devel mode set to +v by ChanServ
10:08 PM Tom_L: it's in a private channel
10:08 PM Tom_dev: otify_events=['start', 'finish', 'exception', 'problem', 'recovery', 'worker']
10:08 PM Tom_dev: doesn't seem to do much
10:09 PM Tom_L: notify*
10:09 PM seb_kuzminsky: can you talk to it at all?
10:09 PM Tom_L: jt had his echoing but i think he broke it
10:09 PM Tom_L: a little
10:09 PM seb_kuzminsky: linuxcnc-build: hello
10:09 PM linuxcnc-build: yes?
10:10 PM Tom_L: but it says i'm not an op but i am
10:10 PM Tom_L: so very limited
10:10 PM Tom_L: linuxcnc-build, commands
10:10 PM linuxcnc-build: buildbot commands: commands, dance, destroy, force, hello, help, last, list, mute, notify, shutdown, source, status, stop, unmute, version, watch
10:10 PM Tom_L: notify is depreciated
10:11 PM Tom_L: i can interrogate it on irc with last for the last build but it won't volunteer it
10:11 PM Tom_L: linuxcnc-build, last
10:11 PM linuxcnc-build: last build [0000.checkin]: 3h30m20s ago: build successful
10:11 PM linuxcnc-build: last build [1300.rip-precise-i386]: 15m03s ago: build successful platform-is-supported

10:11 PM Tom_L: sry
10:11 PM seb_kuzminsky: lol
10:12 PM Tom_L: i did get an rpi4 connected to a master locally
10:18 PM Tom_L: alot of the new docs point to 2.2.x version docs
10:18 PM Tom_L: or 2.5.x
10:20 PM pere: sound great that seb_kuzminsky get help with the buildbot stuff.
10:41 PM seb_kuzminsky: linuxcnc-build2: hello
10:41 PM linuxcnc-build2: Tere
10:42 PM seb_kuzminsky: linuxcnc-build2: version
10:42 PM linuxcnc-build2: This is buildbot-3.4.0-1 at your service
10:42 PM seb_kuzminsky: Tom_L: i just registered the new buildmaster, it seems pretty straightforward
10:43 PM seb_kuzminsky: irc = reporters.IRC( "irc.libera.chat", "linuxcnc-build2", password="redacted", useColors=False, channels=[ {"channel": "#linuxcnc-devel"} ], authz={ ('force', 'stop'): True }, notify_events=[ 'exception', 'problem', 'recovery', 'worker' ]
10:43 PM Tom_L: good to know
10:43 PM seb_kuzminsky: )
10:43 PM seb_kuzminsky: c['services'].append(irc)
10:44 PM Tom_L: maybe mine needs to be registered with libera?
10:52 PM seb_kuzminsky: yeah, probably
10:52 PM seb_kuzminsky: you know how to do that? msg nickserv help
