11:55 AM Tom_L: pere, ping
12:53 PM pere: Tom_L: pong
12:54 PM Tom_L: did you per chance look at the build log?
12:57 PM pere: nope, been busy. looking now.
12:58 PM pere: Tom_L: look like xorriso was unable to create ISO 9660 image.
12:59 PM pere: heh, just noticed dahdi-firmware being installed. it is for phone server cards, most likely not relevant for linuxcnc. :)
01:00 PM Tom_L: no probably not
01:00 PM pere: this is also strange:
01:00 PM pere: Setting up raspi-firmware (1.20220331+ds-2) ...
01:00 PM pere: ls: cannot access '/boot/initrd.img-*': No such file or directory
01:00 PM pere: raspi-firmware: no initrd found in /boot/initrd.img-*, cannot populate /boot/firmware
01:01 PM Tom_L: i'm gonna take a break from it today but if you have any suggestions i'll try later one
01:01 PM Tom_L: on
01:02 PM pere: I guess I have to find a machine to test on myself to get any further. adding a hook to get the fat file system mount is the best idea I got from #debian-live, and I am not sure how to do that nor what such hook should do.
01:02 PM Tom_L: i switched the build to syslinux and isolinux? iirc instead of hdd
01:03 PM Tom_L: pc is off or i'd check
01:03 PM pere: I suspect neither will boot on rpi.
01:03 PM Tom_L: likely not like it is
04:14 PM pere: can some native english speaker comment on the use of its/it's in <URL: https://github.com/LinuxCNC/linuxcnc/pull/1981 >?
04:14 PM Tom_L: it's
04:14 PM Tom_L: aka it is
04:15 PM Tom_L: shows ownership
04:18 PM Tom_L: original one _would_ be the correct one
04:18 PM pere: please state so in the git issue, to let the pull request author know. is there a reason not to simply write 'it is'?
04:18 PM Tom_L: we mericans tend to abbreviate everything :)
04:19 PM Tom_L: your's it's there's
04:19 PM Tom_L: if you wrote 'it is' it would start to look like chinglish
04:21 PM Tom_L: actually "your's" is incorrect
04:22 PM Tom_L: you're you are
04:23 PM pere: seeing my kids learn to read, it became obvious to me how apprevations hinder readability. and we have enough paper, ink and bits to afford writing words fully. :)
04:24 PM Tom_L: it's even worse now with TXTing
04:24 PM Tom_L: bbl, ttyl, brb, lmao, roflmao ....
04:27 PM Tom_L: then there are words that are spelled the same but have different meaning in different context
04:28 PM pere: yeah, as the language break down in that area, we need to provide an opposite force of proper english to help counter the puzzles sent using hieroglyphs. :)
05:00 PM linuxcnc-build: build #2753 of 1640.rip-buster-rtpreempt-amd64 is complete: Failure [4failed compile runtests] Build details are at http://buildbot.linuxcnc.org/buildbot/builders/1640.rip-buster-rtpreempt-amd64/builds/2753 blamelist: Steffen Moeller <moeller@debian.org>, Hans Unzner <hansunzner@gmail.com>
05:00 PM rene-dev56 is now known as rene-dev5
06:15 PM roguish[m]: pere: interesting that you are speaking about language. I just ran across this article. check it out.... https://www.berliner-zeitung.de/en/what-is-euro-english-li.135057
06:27 PM linuxcnc-build: build #9151 of 0000.checkin is complete: Failure [4failed] Build details are at http://buildbot.linuxcnc.org/buildbot/builders/0000.checkin/builds/9151 blamelist: Steffen Moeller <moeller@debian.org>, Hans Unzner <hansunzner@gmail.com>
08:14 PM CaptHindsight[m]: why does stepconf now default to BASE_PERIOD = 100000 no matter what you enter for you maximum base period jitter?
11:42 PM CaptHindsight[m]: found out that stepconf uses the max feedrate and accel for base period
