12:38 PM silopolis[m]: pere: hi 🙂 Have fixed and renamed docs/help/asciidoc-markup{,_es}.adoc because it is actually written in spanish... What should I do with the corresponding line in po4a.cfg ?
12:44 PM silopolis[m]: also, shouldn't it move to docs/src/code/ ?
12:52 PM silopolis[m]: pere: this may be a pain to read better ask now than cry later... Shoudn't we place all translation subfolders in say docs/l10n or docs/translations or whatever ? I'm afraid having all translations folders in docs/ folder will clutter it. Plus placing them all in a dedicated subdir seem to be a current, presumably good, practice.
12:53 PM silopolis[m]: I understand you've already put your share of sweat in this so I can give this change a shot if you agree
01:47 PM pere: silopolis[m]: I am not so interested in the directory names and structure, I must admit. my first priority was to keep the amount of changes low. as both you and smoe seemed in favor of per language subdirectories, and it made it possible to keep the current and new translation files in parallell, I rewrote to use subdirectories. happy to rewrite it to yet another directory, but believe time is better spent right now bringing the document structure
01:47 PM pere: of the translations in line with the english original to do the migration quickly.
01:49 PM smoe: I am at the spanish .adoc files. This is fairly horrific. In part to blame is the po4a parser for .adoc that has a different understanding than adoc about what whitespace means.
01:49 PM smoe: There are some weird invisible characters that ruin the itemization in the line following a leading *
01:50 PM smoe: Consequence - I am editing the english .adoc.
01:51 PM smoe: I know that this is basically unmergeable if anyone writes documentation in parallel.
01:53 PM smoe: silopolis[m] - how are you doing with the _fr ?
01:54 PM smoe: I am not really keen to do this but given that I ruined everything already on my side, I could imagine to also address the .pofication of the existing _fr.adoc files.
01:54 PM smoe: This should help with the merging, I mean.
02:19 PM pere: smoe: aha. this is my first migration with asciidoc, but am surprised it do not parse it properly.
02:42 PM silopolis[m]: pere: thanks for the rewrite, that's great news
02:43 PM silopolis[m]: smoe: followed your massive work on es and willing to follow your path with fr
02:44 PM silopolis[m]: Just scratched the surface for now restructuring the Master_* files, now to start digging deeper...
02:46 PM silopolis[m]: Your xp with po4a behaviour is not so encouraging but I hope I can help you sanitize en files on the way....
02:48 PM silopolis[m]: On a side note I made a quick rough setup of translate-po4a branch in crowdin and have to report that adoc support seem quite nice on first sight
02:49 PM silopolis[m]: Subdirs will also help a lot for crowdin setup so will leave this aside untill we have sanitized and restructured es and fr subdirs
02:52 PM pere: silopolis[m]: why do you mix crowdin into the french fix patch?
02:53 PM silopolis[m]: Also gained xp at setting up all this under W$ as well as I exercised my too weak git fu. This is slowly making more capable of doing what we hope for
02:55 PM silopolis[m]: pere: Because I'm still too weak at git and mixing things I shouldn't in my messy workflow 😅
05:10 PM smoe: pere, would you have a "toy branch" to try merging my non-man-pages adoc work?
10:26 PM seb_kuzminsky: linuxcnc-build: force build --branch=2.8 0000.checkin
10:26 PM linuxcnc-build: The build has been queued, I'll give a shout when it starts
11:31 PM linuxcnc-build: build forced [ETA 1h24m40s]
11:31 PM linuxcnc-build: I'll give a shout when the build finishes
