04:51 PM Roguish_shop: pcw_home, Peter, simple question. diode on a relay coil. which does the diode end with the line go on, the positive or the negative...????
04:57 PM Tom_L: Roguish_shop, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flyback_diode
04:57 PM Tom_L: https://www.autodesk.com/products/eagle/blog/wp-content/uploads/2017/04/2017-04-05_10-00-06.png
04:59 PM Tom_L: easy to tell, it will block it one way and not the other... add a resistor to the + supply to test that
05:15 PM Roguish_shop: but which end of the diode has the mark on it? anode or cathode?
05:18 PM Roguish_shop: ok, just looked up 'diode marking'
05:18 PM Roguish_shop: the line is on the cathode end...
05:20 PM Roguish_shop: so, per the picture on the wikipedia, the cathode (negative) end with line goes on the negative of the relay coil.....
05:26 PM Roguish_shop: i hope
05:49 PM Tom_L: if you use a resistor from the + supply to test it, it won't matter. it will only work one way
