02:42 AM andypugh: Yes, I concur that the Lucid build-thingy can retire.
03:52 AM rene-dev: I tried to edit the wiki to update the page
03:52 AM rene-dev: but get an internal server error
10:11 AM jepler: Yeah I tried to figure out what was going on and how to successfully edit that page, but I was unable to :-/
10:11 AM jepler: May I suggest starting a MinimumSoftwareVersions29 page instead, if that works?

11:33 AM CaptHindsight[m]: I have been looking into physics engines for my CAM applications and thought of how one could fit into preflight for checking programs
11:34 AM CaptHindsight[m]: I might try to fit one into LCNC so one could enter their machines work area and stock shape to notify you of a potential crash
11:35 AM Tom_L: must be color coded: green yellow red
11:35 AM CaptHindsight[m]: it would also have the shape of the cutting tools
11:35 AM Tom_L: most with any respect do
11:36 AM Tom_L: it's a long needed gap fill
11:36 AM CaptHindsight[m]: this would have LCNC check
11:37 AM CaptHindsight[m]: the CAM app is something else
11:37 AM Tom_L: yeah i figured
11:37 AM Tom_L: you never know about things like clamps etc though
11:37 AM CaptHindsight[m]: have to see how ROS does their checking of collision avoidance
11:38 AM CaptHindsight[m]: it would not be too much work to have a laser profile the work area
11:40 AM CaptHindsight[m]: laser profiler in the spindle or at some offset
11:40 AM CaptHindsight[m]: this would catch the clamps
11:40 AM Tom_L: not everyone will purchase a laser for that
11:41 AM CaptHindsight[m]: for advanced 5=axis users
11:41 AM Tom_L: yeah those might
11:41 AM CaptHindsight[m]: * for advanced 5+axis users
11:42 AM Tom_L: i should ask my kid what they use, he's on a 5 axis gantry
11:42 AM Tom_L: i think catia but i dunno about 5 axis
11:43 AM Tom_L: their cam is fairly new
11:43 AM Tom_L: they didn't used to have one
11:46 AM CaptHindsight[m]: cheap camera would also notice clamps
11:48 AM CaptHindsight[m]: but this all trying to idiot proof more complex and costly machines
11:48 AM CaptHindsight[m]: cost and complexity tend to act as a barrier to most idiots
11:52 AM CaptHindsight[m]: but it can prevent a costly mishap when the operator is tired or distracted
12:08 PM Tom_L: more attention is generally paid to a new setup
12:26 PM jepler: Hi all. Just so you're aware, the LinuxCNC community including IRC now has a written code of conduct. Unless it's your idea of fun to harass other people, this is a big non-event for you. You can read the code of conduct here: http://www.linuxcnc.org/CODE_OF_CONDUCT/
