10:44 AM rene_dev_21: andypugh did you manage to test touchy? there are still issues with preferences, and the file manager.
10:49 AM rene_dev_21: and I wantet to convert your macro screen... I remember there was an example config in the git using it
10:49 AM rene_dev_21: but cant find it
01:20 PM andypugh: rene_dev_21: Sorry, no. I have been busy (and have not been feeling much like playing with software, I needed a rest)
01:20 PM andypugh: The lathe macro screen is in sim-gmoccpy-lathe
01:20 PM rene_dev_21: no problem. Im currently porting your lathe macros
01:20 PM rene_dev_21: yeah, found it
02:16 PM JT-Shop: I can just imagine andypugh had a headache after all that
02:43 PM andypugh: I am trying to figure out the screen locker. I agree that that is the _last_ thing you want on a CNC controller. Especially if it’s a touchscreen interface and you can’t type the password.
02:44 PM andypugh: But that’s a pretty tedious thing to test. I haven’t even worked out yet what is doing it. (locking is done by light-locker, and I can disable that readily enough)
02:53 PM JT-Shop: ah let me get my notes on how to stop screen blanking
02:53 PM JT-Shop: if that's what your seeing
02:54 PM JT-Shop: is this a problem on the LiveDVD?
02:54 PM JT-Shop: https://jethornton.github.io/rpi/lite-install.html#disable-dpms-screen-blanking
03:14 PM rene_dev_21: I usually just uninstall any lockers or screensavers on my machines.
03:14 PM rene_dev_21: but you can also just disable it
03:18 PM JT-Cave: lol I can't even find it in the LiveDVD
03:18 PM JT-Cave: dpms screen blanking will override any screensaver
03:31 PM andypugh: I know how to turn it off, once I find which one it is. The puzzle is how to turn it off in the LiveImage
03:31 PM andypugh: I suspect that this is the way: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Display_Power_Management_Signaling#Disabling_DPMS
03:32 PM JT-Shop: https://github.com/jethornton/rpi
03:32 PM JT-Shop: yep dpms screen blanking is on by default and you need to add a file to stop it
03:32 PM JT-Shop: https://jethornton.github.io/rpi/lite-install.html#disable-dpms-screen-blanking
03:33 PM JT-Shop: sorry wrong link above
03:33 PM JT-Shop: xfce4-power-manager use their own DPMS settings and override xset configuration.
03:33 PM andypugh: Yes, and adding files is one of the easier things to do with the ISO
03:34 PM JT-Shop: opps looks like xfce does not play nice
03:35 PM andypugh: xfce4-power-manager is not in the Live image
03:35 PM JT-Shop: If xscreensaver is installed and runs alongside Xfce Power Manager, it may not be clear which application is in control of blanking and DPMS as both are competing for control of the same settings. Therefore, in a situation where it is important that the monitor not be blanked (when watching a video for instance), it is advisable to disable blanking and DPMS through both applications.
03:35 PM JT-Shop: I could not find any way to disable it on the livedvd
03:35 PM andypugh: I don’t think it is installed. I think it is _just_ dpms
03:36 PM andypugh: TBH screen blanking is only annoying, screen locking after blanking is the annoyance
03:36 PM andypugh: (i mean, is the real problem)
03:38 PM JT-Cave: yea I just let the livedvd run a bit and it comes up with the password so that does not look like dpms
03:38 PM * JT-Cave goes back to work
03:39 PM JT-Cave: what is the user and password for the livedvd?
03:39 PM andypugh: That’s light-locker, which locks on blank automatically.
03:40 PM andypugh: In live mode? Youknow, I have no idea.
03:40 PM andypugh: Try debian / live ?
03:41 PM andypugh: Google says user / live
03:43 PM JT-Shop: ok, I'll try that after I get some parts in the powder coat oven
03:47 PM JT-Shop: so the installed version is different than the livedvd? if so I'll install it and see what I can find
03:52 PM JT-Cave: wow I had to log in twice to get back to the desktop which tells me there are two screen blankers working
04:35 PM JT-Cave: the xfce4-power-manager is installed when I install from the livedvd
04:43 PM JT-Cave: actually synaptic says it's not installed

05:03 PM JT-Cave: andypugh, did you get the screen blanking sorted out?
05:04 PM andypugh: I think so.
05:04 PM -!- #linuxcnc-devel mode set to +v by ChanServ
05:04 PM JT-Cave: I installed xfce4-power-manager then disabled monitor power settings just waiting to see if it blanks
05:04 PM JT-Cave: I also disabled dpms
05:09 PM andypugh: I have made an iso. Then I need to install it, and see if the display ever blanks
05:09 PM andypugh: xset q
05:09 PM andypugh: will tell you if dmpms or screensaver are active
06:58 PM andypugh: Well, I was wrong. It still blanks the screen (though it doesn’t lock now)
