07:09 AM jepler: https://salsa.debian.org/raspi-team/image-specs
07:10 AM jepler: It seems Debian fully supports pi4 now, and there are build scripts.. this is proper Debian, not Raspbian (I think). Next time I have energy in looking at this.
07:12 AM jepler: And /boot is not FAT, /boot/firmware is, which should solve the diversions problem nicely
07:17 AM jepler: Sadly Debian doesn't package an rt-rpi kernel package yet so we would still have that work to do (mostly just ripping out the diversions stuff from the one we have, probably)
07:27 AM jepler: RPi 4 + 8GB, Finally, USB-functional! https://gwolf.org/2020/09/rpi-4-8gb-finally-usb-functional.html
09:13 AM JT-Shop: sweet
11:24 AM jepler: https://packages.debian.org/buster/linux-image-4.19.0-9-rt-arm64-unsigned it looks like debian raspi for pi4 would use the "arm64" package. When the kernel supports rt patches in general (as 4.19 in buster does, but 5.8 in sid appears not to) it appears debian does build it for the arm64 kernel
11:25 AM jepler: raspi_4.yaml gets generated with sed "s/__LINUX_IMAGE__/linux-image-arm64/" | \
11:27 AM jepler: someone who is actually taking charge of releases would have to make a judgement call about the trade-off between (A) shipping something that is "close to" raspbian (which is now called Raspberry Pi OS because nobody likes giving Debian credit) because people who enter from raspberry community will know it or (B) shipping something that __might__ free us from kernel packaging and some of the other trade-offs that are made
11:27 AM jepler: in the raspbian environment like the FAT-format /boot
11:27 AM jepler: but that'd be moot without an image that works on pi4 and has rt, it's all dreaming
