07:52 AM tjtr33: I just built a new rip on debian 9. runtests fails 13 times
07:56 AM tjtr33: https://pastebin.com/8Zf9iqDD
07:56 AM tjtr33: any siggestions?
08:21 AM CMorley: run the test and see what the output is - in my case it gave a clue to what was wrong.
08:36 AM cerna: CMorley: I think (for what it's worth) that you should just pick up soft and hard date for 2.8 release, do your best, release it and then bugfix, bugfix, bugfix. Otherwise, nothing will happen.
08:37 AM CMorley: cena: 2.8 is pretty solid. I am try to get interest in linuxcnc again and I don't actully know what is involved with releasing :)
08:39 AM CMorley: If I can figure out what to do and no one else is available i'll try to do it.
08:41 AM jthornton: I'm not sure how to release either
08:42 AM CMorley: I beleive there is old notes somewhere...
08:43 AM CMorley: mm I wonder if this is useful: http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?ReleaseCheckList
08:43 AM cerna: Action causes action. Your enthusiasm will pull others, I think. (Even if it is not up top.) Logically, is there anything else to release than functioning package build, ISO and change of docs?
08:44 AM cerna: By the link ( http://wiki.linuxcnc.org/cgi-bin/wiki.pl?ReleaseCheckList ) - there pretty much isn't.
08:45 AM CMorley: There is an ISO to build but I think we should look at Rob's Mint ISOs
08:46 AM CMorley: We should sign him up as a developer
08:47 AM cerna: I think you should, everybody willing to do hard work should be approached.
08:47 AM CMorley: I think Seb has to do that.. maybe others can. our development crew is pretty broken :)
08:47 AM CMorley: I'm off to sleep ttyl

04:03 PM jepler: I think anyone with role:admin to the linuxcnc repository can add external developers. At this moment, the list is: andypugh, chris radek, mozmck, and seb. people with privileges at the organization level may also be able to do it, I didn't check who is on that list. Historically, we had some kind of "is everyone OK with this addition", as an informal process. I do not stand in the way of adding anyone, but I have no
04:04 PM jepler: familiarity with Rob's work.
04:04 PM jepler: me, cradek, and seb are owners at the organization level
04:06 PM andypugh: Rob is already publishing ISO files of LinuxCNC based on Mint. (Basically some on the forum are getting imapatient with the non-release of 2.8)
04:07 PM andypugh: I don’t know whether he has the experience to release 2.8, but he might have the enthusiasm.
04:08 PM andypugh: (I am only guessing what question is being answered, I only just got here)
04:08 PM jepler: Thanks for the info. I don't know if my info dump above is relevant to any of that

05:00 PM TurBoss: ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
05:12 PM jthornton: what are you testing?
06:19 PM andypugh: statetags
06:20 PM jthornton: cool
06:31 PM andypugh: It fails some runtests. But I think I know why.
08:18 PM hazzy-m: andypugh: Hurray!!!
08:19 PM hazzy-m: getting any closer to merging state-tags?
08:19 PM andypugh: It was an experiment, mainly. I don’t actually know what it does in detail.
08:20 PM andypugh: But andypugh/statetags-200328 is a merge of statetags and todays master that builds and runs.
08:20 PM cradek: neat
08:20 PM andypugh: Some tests fail, but we could merge it today. If we really wanted to.
08:21 PM cradek: iirc it had known bugs...
08:21 PM andypugh: And the “we” is the problem, as LinuxCNC seems to have lost the ability to make any decisions at all.
08:22 PM andypugh: The buildbot runtests output should be there for all to see. At least some of it seems like it might be “extrajoints” related.
08:23 PM andypugh: The main obstacle to an automatic merge was “multispindle” but luckily I knew how to work that out. Mainly by cheating and only reporting tags for spindle 0.
08:24 PM hazzy-m: statetags it pretty old, so I would not be surprised if it has bugs related to multispindle etc. being merged
08:24 PM hazzy-m: oh, so you already worked on that, fantastic!
08:25 PM andypugh: Does master currently pass runtests?
08:26 PM andypugh: I think it does
08:27 PM andypugh: One thing I was seeing in runtests was motion-logger/abort aborting 16 joints.
08:50 PM andypugh: It seems that current master does not pass runtests. But in different ways to statetags-200328
