10:36 AM jepler: oh my. > Elapsed 20 hrs, 38 mins, 13 secs
10:37 AM jepler: it's unfortunate we can't do what we need in a "modern CI" with docker and whatnot..
01:29 PM linuxcnc-build: build #3597 of 1903.clang-wheezy-amd64 is complete: Failure [4failed compile] Build details are at http://buildbot.linuxcnc.org/buildbot/builders/1903.clang-wheezy-amd64/builds/3597 blamelist: Chris Morley <chrisinnanaimo@hotmail.com>, andypugh <andy@bodgesoc.org>

01:43 PM jepler: It's hard to know what the installed base of linuxcnc is, but we do have download stats from our webserver. By both measures, precise is still the #3 most common OS version, among systems checking for updates. https://gist.github.com/38494bd26c1e05dee25c046d12017661
01:44 PM jepler: er, either #2 or #3
01:44 PM jepler: that doesn't mean we can't choose to say that master branch will not support it, but it sure might inform how we prioritize it
01:45 PM jepler: This "Release" file is fetched anytime a system checks for updates. Ubuntu tends to come preconfigured to check for updates regularly, while Debian does not; this might overestimate the relative user bases.
01:45 PM linuxcnc-build: build #4606 of 1403.rip-wheezy-amd64 is complete: Failure [4failed compile] Build details are at http://buildbot.linuxcnc.org/buildbot/builders/1403.rip-wheezy-amd64/builds/4606 blamelist: Chris Morley <chrisinnanaimo@hotmail.com>, andypugh <andy@bodgesoc.org>

01:53 PM linuxcnc-build: build #4809 of 1404.rip-wheezy-rtpreempt-amd64 is complete: Failure [4failed compile] Build details are at http://buildbot.linuxcnc.org/buildbot/builders/1404.rip-wheezy-rtpreempt-amd64/builds/4809 blamelist: Chris Morley <chrisinnanaimo@hotmail.com>, andypugh <andy@bodgesoc.org>
02:09 PM cerna: Having life that is considered EOL connected to the internet, no security updates and controlling real hardware. I am wondering how hard it would be for some malicious cracker to do some serious damage.
02:23 PM linuxcnc-build: build #4276 of 1401.rip-wheezy-rtai-i386 is complete: Failure [4failed compile] Build details are at http://buildbot.linuxcnc.org/buildbot/builders/1401.rip-wheezy-rtai-i386/builds/4276 blamelist: Chris Morley <chrisinnanaimo@hotmail.com>, andypugh <andy@bodgesoc.org>
02:28 PM linuxcnc-build: build #1462 of 1630.rip-stretch-rtpreempt-amd64 is complete: Failure [4failed compile] Build details are at http://buildbot.linuxcnc.org/buildbot/builders/1630.rip-stretch-rtpreempt-amd64/builds/1462 blamelist: Chris Morley <chrisinnanaimo@hotmail.com>, andypugh <andy@bodgesoc.org>
02:30 PM linuxcnc-build: build #1462 of 1610.rip-stretch-rtpreempt-i386 is complete: Failure [4failed compile] Build details are at http://buildbot.linuxcnc.org/buildbot/builders/1610.rip-stretch-rtpreempt-i386/builds/1462 blamelist: Chris Morley <chrisinnanaimo@hotmail.com>, andypugh <andy@bodgesoc.org>
02:35 PM jepler: I don't think it's an unreasonable thing to wish for, a system you can connect to the internet for 20 years needing only "non disruptive" security updates (distro upgrades are by definition disruptive, something always breaks). It is relatively safe for such old systems to do update checks, but yeah don't use them for connecting to your bank or reading the "news feed"
02:38 PM andypugh: Hopw does one tell which build the buildbot is building? (ie, which branch?)
02:39 PM andypugh: I thought of another way to check what I wanted to know:
02:39 PM andypugh: http://buildbot.linuxcnc.org/dists/precise/scratch-rt/binary-i386/
02:40 PM andypugh: contains a precise + G71 .deb, so looks like success
02:40 PM jepler: http://buildbot.linuxcnc.org/buildbot/builders/1610.rip-stretch-rtpreempt-i386/builds/1462 in the upper left corner "Branch" says "master" on http://buildbot.linuxcnc.org/buildbot/builders/1610.rip-stretch-rtpreempt-i386/builds/1462
02:40 PM jepler: http://buildbot.linuxcnc.org/buildbot/builders/1300.rip-precise-i386/builds/6442 is a build of precise with branch andypugh/g71_test2
02:41 PM jepler: that succeeded (warnings)
02:41 PM jepler: hey pcw_mesa
02:42 PM andypugh: But the wearnings are unrelated to G71
02:42 PM andypugh: http://buildbot.linuxcnc.org/buildbot/builders/1300.rip-precise-i386/builds/6442/steps/compile/logs/warnings%20%2821%29
02:42 PM jepler: that non-ascii URL in the list seems to be the russian word meaning "exact". weird.
02:42 PM jepler: wearnings = wearying warnings?
02:43 PM jepler: we used to be at zero warnings on platforms we cared about, but then nobody tended it for a long time. I am apparently the only one with warnings-OCD
02:43 PM andypugh: So, I am going to pull your pull request. I think that will fix the master buikds
02:43 PM jepler: thanks andypugh
02:43 PM andypugh: I thought you fixed the MAX_ARITY by spotting a NAX_ARITY?
02:44 PM jepler: maybe that didn't make it into the other pull request
02:44 PM andypugh: andypugh/g71_test is master + your pull request.
02:46 PM andypugh: commit b809e5054e5a0c4626d9099b2b26177da26da8d9 (HEAD -> andypugh/g71_test2, origin/andypugh/g71_test2)

03:00 PM jepler: (another thing those stats don't show is whether the systems with precise are downloading 2.3 or 2.8 or something in between....)
03:03 PM jepler: (typically, the Release file will have enough information that the Packages.gz file is not retrieved. to the extent I can tell about THAT, wheezy 2.7-rtai systems are #1, lucid 2.5-rtai is #2, wheezy 2.6(-rtai?) is #3, and precise 2.7-rtai is #4. #1 is 71%, #4 is 7.8%.
03:04 PM jepler: )
03:04 PM jepler: wheezy-2.7 is 10x wheezy-2.6
03:09 PM jepler: huh could that cyrillc actually be "ubuntu precise" ? Did they i18n their package servers, or did somebody put it in by hand and have it never, never, ever work?
03:09 PM jepler: they=ubuntu
